  • Very pretty house at the edge of the water, very calm environment, really very pleasant. Warm and friendly welcome from Gemma and her daughter, and very good recommendations to find a restaurant at night. Note that it takes a fifteen minute drive to the nearest restaurants. Breakfast very rich and varied.

  • We had a great time at Gemma. Gemma is a great person, very considerate of our comfort, she has also turned out to be a very interesting and interesting person. She gave great advice, and we had a very good continental breakfast. The view from the bedroom and from the dining area does not spoil anything: a real wonder. The location is worthy of a fairy tale. In addition, the bedroom, with its private bathroom and adjoining brings a real comfort. All this decorated with taste, everything is together to spend very pleasant moments. The only downside of our stay at Gemma? We did not stay long enough! Thanks again Gemma, and see you soon.

    Diane2019-09-28T00:00:00Z

Craigellachie Studio is boutique accommodation created from a converted artist studio with a seaside location and sensational views. Renovated in 2015 it offers a unique experience for couples and lovers...
Craigellachie Studio is your own little piece of heaven on the seaside - with incredible views of the Applecross hills and right on the sea. You can hear the waves .....
CRAIGELLACHIE STUDIO ACHINTRAID KISHORN WESTER ROSS IV54 8XB This is a selection of activities and information that may offer some inspiration and ideas. It is not comprehensive and we will try to update it regularly based on feedback. Please note, many activities will be closed or may operate reduced hours during the winter season (typically October – Easter). Adventure Activities •Mountain & Sea Guides, Applecross – Sea kayak trips, guided hillwalking and mountaineering trips . •Martin Moran Mountaineering, Lochcarron – Guided mountaineering courses . Beaches •There's a stone and sand beach right in front of the studio in Achintraid (it's a lot bigger when the tide's out!) full of mussels, cockles and oyster shells. •There is a broad sandy beach at Applecross. •The beach at Sand, 3 miles north of Applecross is better, this is where the BBC series “Monty Halls’ Great Escape” was filmed and “Beachcomber Cottage” is still there. •There is a pretty pebble beach at “smugglers Cove” about 3 miles from Lochcarron, 500m west of Strome Castle. Please be careful if swimming as currents can be strong. •Between Poolewe and Ullapool there are several fabulous beaches including Firemore, Mellon Charles, Mellon Udrigle, Gruinard and Little Gruinard. • There is a lovely coral (white sand) beach 4 miles south of Applecross near Ard Dhubh – park near the Ard Dhubh turning and follow the signposted (and sometimes muddy!) footpath for 1.5 miles to Coillegillie. •There is another coral beach 3 miles north of Dunvegan Castle in Skye. •There is a pretty sandy beach at Redpoint, south of Badachro near Gairloch and just north of Gairloch there is a big sandy beach known as Big Sand! Castles •There is a ruined castle at North Strome, 3 miles west of Lochcarron which offers beautiful views to Plockton and Skye. •Eilean Donan castle at Dornie is one of the most iconic and romantic images of Scotland. •Dunvegan Castle in Skye is the seat of the chiefs of the clan MacLeod and home to the mysterious ‘Fairy Flag’. Distilleries •The closest distilleries are Muir of Ord where they make Glenord whisky or Carbost on Skye where Talisker is made. Both have visitor centres although Talisker is much more scenic. Diving •5 Bells Diving operate diver training and dive trips in and around Loch Carron . Driving The driving is beautiful in every direction but these are a few suggestions: •Drive over the Bealach Na Ba (the Pass of the Cattle) to Applecross for lunch at the Applecross Inn - we recommend you go early as it gets busy in peak season. Either drive back the same route (2 hours return + lunch) or take the coastal road north from Applecross and return via Shieldaig (add an hour). •Drive to Shieldaig and explore the pretty little village, then on to Torridon (2 hours return) and possibly out to the pier and road end at Diabaig (add an hour). Try the Gille Brighde restaurant at Diabaig – it’s a pleasant surprise in such a remote location. It is also an option to return via Kinlochewe and Achnasheen (add an hour). •Drive to Badachro for lunch at the Badachro Inn or to visit Redpoint Beach, drive there via Shieldaig and return via Achnasheen (4 hours return). Extend to a full day by exploring Gairloch area. •Drive to Portree on Skye, to explore the harbour and village (about 4 hours return). Extend with trips to Eilean Donan Castle or Talisker Distillery. •Drive to Glenelg and explore the well preserved Brochs (Iron age buildings) and continue to Sandaig where Gavin Maxwell’s “Ring of Bright Water” was based. Lunch at the atmospheric Glenelg Inn and return via the tiny ferry to Kylerhea on Skye and back across the Skye Bridge to Kyle of Lochalsh (about 4 hours depending on ferry times). •Drive anywhere in North Skye it’s all beautiful! (It’s about 2½ hours to Uig). We particularly like the area east of Uig – around The Quiraing and Kilt Rock. Eating In •Buy local scallops and fish from Applecross Smokehouse, Kenmore, Applecross. •Buy smoked salmon and pates at Torridon Smokehouse, Shieldaig. •Lochcarron Spar also has a good range of local produce. •Or relax and let local chef Alison Hewitt at the Kishorn Kitchen cater for you in the Studio with fresh, local ingredients. Eating Out •Bealach Café - soup and sandwiches at the turnoff to Applecross (2 miles away). •Kishorn Seafood Bar, Kishorn (1 mile) – local seafood to eat in or take away in a relaxed setting. Rentals •Lochcarron Garage will rent mountain bikes. •Calum’s Seal Trips in Plockton rent canoes and boats. •Lochcarron Garage in Lochcarron rent cars. •Most of the national car hire companies operate from Inverness. Reraig Forest •Reraig forest is the sporting estate to the south (i.e. behind) the Studio and the owners are keen to make it as accessible as possible. Walking in the forest is encouraged and the friendly local gamekeeper (Colin) also offers Argo tours (in an all-terrain-vehicle) to get very, very close to the deer. Some of our guests have done this and it comes highly recommended. •Clay pigeon shooting and deer stalking can also be arranged. Sailing •Lochcarron sailing club Single Track Roads There are many miles of single track roads in the area so please follow the following guidelines to keep the ‘locals’ happy and you safe! •Stop at a passing place to let oncoming traffic pass. Who does the stopping is generally dictated by who is closest to the final passing place you approach. Don't drive past the final one in the face of an oncoming vehicle or you will be expected to reverse. •Only enter a passing place on your left. If the passing place is on your right, stop opposite it and let the oncoming vehicle enter the space. •Passing places are also there to enable traffic to overtake. Check your mirrors regularly and if there is a car behind you, please pull into the first available passing place on the left and stop to allow them to overtake. •Don’t park in passing spaces. •It is common practice for drivers to acknowledge each other with a small wave as you meet at a passing place to thank each other for the courtesy shown. •The roads are usually quiet and the scenery is always breathtaking, so relax and enjoy the drive, you’re on holiday! Shopping •The nearest bank is in Kyle of Lochalsh - although the Spar and Hotel in Lochcarron both offer 'cashback' with purchases. •Patterns of Light in Kishorn sells some super gifts. •The Spar in Lochcarron sells most of the daily essentials along with logs, coal, fishing tackle and a surprisingly well stocked hardware section upstairs. •The petrol station at Lochcarron Garage in the east end of the village sells a good range of food, milk and bread. •Tesco, Inverness (69 miles) is the nearest superstore. Inverness has a wide range of shops selling everything you could need. •Local seafood can be purchased at McIver Shellfish in Kenmore, Applecross and smoked salmon at the Loch Torridon Smokehouse in Shieldaig but there are a lot of fishermen locally - chiefly landing langoustine, crab and lobster so look out for roadside signs or ask around. Sport •Watch the traditional Highland sport of shinty played in Lochcarron most Saturdays. Taxis •Unfortunately, there is currently no taxi service in the local area. Trains •An exceptionally scenic train line connects Strathcarron to Inverness or Kyle of Lochalsh. Walking •There are an almost unlimited number of walks in the area. In Achintraid itself you can walk left (west) from the road in front of Craigellachie House to the road end and then onto the forestry track where there is a pretty view of Plockton and Skye at the end of the track (approx. 2 hours return). Alternatively, walk right 100m from the road by the Studio and follow the signs for the hill paths above Achintraid. •A selection of walking books and maps will be provided in the Studio for your use. •There are several walking websites but Walkhighlands is one of the best and has many informative walks plus maps. Wildlife •Dolphins and porpoises can often be spotted in Loch Carron, and the seas between Kishorn and Skye. •Otters and seals are regularly spotted anywhere in Loch Kishorn. Any time of day is good for otter-spotting but it is easiest when the loch is calm, they have even been seen walking on the road in front of the Studio. •Golden Eagles can be seen almost anywhere in the area but the glen between Lochcarron and Kishorn is a good bet. •Pine Marten frequent the whole area but can be tricky to spot although they do sometimes come into the garden. •Sea eagles (white tailed eagles) nest on Shieldaig Island and also in the cliffs around Portree and there is a cctv feed of the nest site at the Aros Centre just south of Portree. •There are red deer everywhere and they often come into the garden!
  • A great little studio for two with a lovely view of loch and mountains. Close to lots of walks and beautiful scenery. Highly recommend driving the Bealach na Bah and coastal route and food at the Plockton Inn.

  • Neil and Carol made Digby and I feel thoroughly welcome from the moment we arranged our booking, the communication was swift and considerate. Once we arrived at the Studio we were filled with delight at how whimsically beautiful the home is and all the thoughtful finishing touches that add just that extra bit of joy. My personal favourite was the painted oyster catcher waiting to usher us in on the steps. Plus, the amenities were unendingly well stocked and functional, Digby took extra delight at your garlic press because we are both fiends for the stuff. Also, I really appreciated the heart-shaped ice cubes preset in the fridge for use. Moreover, the book collection was greatly to our liking, if only we had spared more time for extra reading on our trip. Lastly, we could not wish for a more breathtaking location on the loch with the mountain views offering an astounding backdrop. I would highly recommend a wonderful holiday here, our stay was absolute bliss and I am certain that we will return :)

The Kishorn Kabin is cosy, tranquil & set in wildlife friendly woodland garden. Our guests say it's a "home from home". Equipped with gas central heating, a wood burning stove and kitchen. You will have your own parking & storage (inc. bikes) area. A perfect place to explore the west highlands, Skye or stop off on the north coast 500. Your Host is from the Highlands & loves sharing her knowledge with you. We are conveniently located opposite the famous Kishorn Seafood Bar Restaurant.
The kishorn kabin is ideally suited for two adults sharing. There is one double bed as well as sofa bed, which can accommodate one extra. The Kabin is open - planned, with the bedroom, living and kitchen area all in one space. There is a showeroom and an outdoor awning area to relax in, store equipment and dry clothes. As there is a woodburning stove it's not suitable for toddlers. A Cot Bed is available for babies.
We really are spoilt were we live. Only a 5 min walk from the breathtaking views of the Applecross Mountains and 1.5 miles from the Kishorn Bay beach. The Bealach na Ba ("Pass of the Cattle") - the historic road to Applecross is 2 miles down the road. Directly opposite we have the famous Kishorn Seafood Bar. So you can wine & dine and walk back across to the Kishorn Kabin. It's best to book ahead for evening meals ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)). Amazing coffee's & light lunches can be had at The Bealach Café & Gallery - 2 miles away. Their Gallery is well worth a look - lots of inspiring local artists work can be purchased. There are simply too many great walks to mention here - but we will leave you a wee notebook with our local "treasures" and some maps to borrow. The local wildlife is abundant; there is a good chance of spotting the "Big 5" - Seals, Otters, Red Squirrel, Deer & Eagles in Wester Ross. Shieldaig (11 miles away) is one of our favourite villages to visit. A picturesque place where the local hotel (Tigh na Eilean) cooks great wood fired pizzas. Local artist Vicky Stonebridge offers pottery classes at her studio, originally a Blacksmiths in Lochcarron. Email (EMAIL HIDDEN) to book in advance.
  • The cabin was so clean, warm and welcoming. Mike gave us some great advice on walks and things to see. The cabin had everything you needed. The shower was strong and welcoming after a very wet cold day. Thanks for the hospitality!

  • Sue was a fantastic host, with interesting conversation and impeccable hospitality. Her home is beautiful and super cosy, giving us some perfect relaxation time. One of the best stays we’ve had!

  • Easy, hearty stay with Sue. A lovely pit stop on our road trip around the Highlands.

  • Nothing but rave reviews for Sue and her lovely home which she so generously opened up to us. You can't feel Sue's warmth through the Airbnb post and pictures but once you step inside it felt like coming home. We had some wonderful and meaningful conversations into the evening and enjoyed a beautiful morning over breakfast. One of a kind - a must stay if in the (incredibly stunning) area!

  • Sue is really warm and welcoming, and very insightful. She is very easy to talk to and offered us a welcome drink and even breakfast. The house itself is well kept and we really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend!

  • A lovely room and en-suite bathroom, beautifully kitted out, in a nice house. Sue is a wonderful host, and recommended a couple of great local places to eat. She made us feel very welcome. Tea, coffee and Twixes were in the room, and she offered to cook us breakfast (we had perfectly cooked bacon and eggs). We were there for our silver anniversary and Sue went above and beyond to help us mark the occasion! This is a good place to stay when doing the NC500, or as a base for exploring Skye or the local area which is stunning. Very highly recommended.

  • Amazing place and wonderful breakfast

    Anna2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sue welcomed my father and his girlfriend wholeheartedly! They loved the room and the private bathroom, everything was tidy and clean. Sue's house very sweet and has a welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast was great and communication with Sue was very easy as she knows some German. They had a really nice dinner at the seafood bar down the street, it's recommendable! Thank you, Sue, for letting my dad and his girlfriend stay at your beautiful place!

    Yvonne2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Sue was a perfect host! I really enjoyed my night at her house. She is very open to dialogue and we can discuss everything. I highly recommend !! Thanks again for everything Sue really!

  • The Old Schoolhouse in Kishorn is an absolutely fantastic place to base yourself for a few days exploring Wester Ross from Kishorn/Ardarroch. Julia is a fantastic host and we really loved the attention to detail, the very welcoming atmosphere, a brilliant breakfast and the relaxation the apartment afforded us. Everything was spotlessly clean, cosy, very comfortable, and we really appreciated our very own open fire in the living room. Thanks again :)

  • The Old Schoolhouse, Kishorn has a wonderful loch-side location in a beautiful area of Scotland; it really is the perfect place to unwind and relax. Julia is a great host, welcoming and helpful. She is a great source of information about the local area and does everything to make your stay the perfect break. The breakfasts are great and the accommodation warm and cosy.

    Peter2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Old School House is a quaint environment for a true old Scotland feel. Located in Kishorn- this is a place you could sit and write a book or just read one. Lots of adventure nearby going to Applecross over the wee mountain road, hang on tight and use the lay by(s) or prepare to back up but whatever you do as Julia says “STAY IN THE MIDDLE”. Enjoy.

    Dicy2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location right on the loch-side in a sleepy hamlet. Great communications from this caring and welcoming owner. Good value for money and a very relaxed stay.

Lovely Double Bedroom, with private shower-room. Television, DVD, WiFi, Tea/coffee. Fantastic view of the Cuillin Hills on Skye and Plockton. Please note this is ROOM ONLY NO BREAKFAST - No Cooking Facilities. This might be ideal for people who don't like breakfast and for those who do then both the hotel and the cafe in Lochcarron do excellent breakfasts. Our cosy double guest room is on the ground floor and has a comfortable double bed, a wardrobe, chest of drawers, chair and tea-tray with kettle. The room has a TV with built in DVD player. The best bit of the room is the fabulous view. This is a family home, we have two children who attend the local primary school. If bringing a pet please check with us first.
The west coast of Scotland is the most beautiful part of the world, we fell in love with it and moved up here 7 years ago and built our family home here, we feel very lucky to live here and we hope you enjoy the area as much as we do. Fantastic for wildlife we see many animals including Sea Eagles, Otters, Seals, Deer and Pine martens. A great base for exploring the West Coast, Isle of Skye, Applecross and Torridon and for getting outdoors - walking, climbing, cycling, kayaking etc.
  • An amazing view greets you when you arrive. The room was very comfortable with private amenities and very considerate and friendly hosts. The use of the washing machine and dryer were a great help. Everything was spotless clean. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

  • David and Rebecca’s place was very comfortable with outstanding views and great amenities. We even decided to stay an extra night. They were very considerate hosts.

    Maureen2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Clear and concise directions to the house-beautiful stunning views over towards Skye. Excellent hosts who made us aware of any road closures prior to our arrival. We arrived earlier than check in but this wasnt a problem. Very clean accomodation! Would love to return in the future!

    Julie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was wonderful

    Suzanne2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house is a little remote - Dave and Rebecca will give you incredibly detailed directions and you need to follow them to the letter. You should also try to arrive the first time during daylight, as the house is down a long stretch of single track road that can be terrifying to tourists/newcomers to the area (of which I was one). Once you reach the house, however, you have the entire bay spread out in front of you and the sky at night is so clear you can see the milky way. Absolutely stunning, and Dave and Rebecca are friendly and full of local knowledge as well.

    Lannon2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • The room has an outstanding view and the local walks / surroundings were beautiful. The hosts are very friendly and gave us very useful information about the local area. Would definitely recommend to other airbnb travellers.

Stunning location and a wonderful, fully equipped and comfortable highland holiday home situated on the shores of Loch Kishorn, surrounded by picturesque scenery, overlooking the Bealach na Ba (steepest highest road in Britain), the Applecross Corries and over to Isle of Skye. Situated on the North Coast 500 Route (NC500) in the attractive village of Achintraid with enviable views all year round. Available to rent for a minimum stay of 7 nights starting any day of the week.
We built our house in 2011 as our family home. Our aim was to make use of the wonderful views and have an area where we could all be together whether we were cooking, eating, watching TV or playing. We created an open plan kitchen, dining, sitting room with large windows in order to enjoy the views to the maximum. The kitchen is well equipped for a family with an excellent Rangemaster which consists of 2 double electric ovens, a grill and a small warming oven. The gas hob has 5 rings and the large fridge has a small freezer. There is also a large chest freezer in the utility room. There is a wood burner in the sitting area which gives off enough heat to warm the whole house. Being a newly built house there is plenty of insulation so it's always warm and naturally there's central heating. There are 4 bedrooms, 2 upstairs - the spacious master bedroom and a twin room across the hall. Both have an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a powerful shower overhead. There are 2 further bedrooms downstairs which share a bathroom. One of the bedrooms is a double which overlooks the sea and the other "hillside" bedroom is a twin. The bathroom has a bath with another powerful shower overhead. Also downstairs there is a well equipped utility room with washing machine, tumble drier, chest freezer and a separate WC
We are in the lovely small and friendly village of Achintraid on the shores of Loch Kishorn. The road leads to a cul de sac so thankfully we don't get lots of traffic. It's a great place to explore the many hills, art galleries, the Kishorn Seafood Bar, Beallach Cafe or over the famous Bealach na Ba Pass to the multi-award winning Applecross Inn and plenty more beyond.
  • An ideal location, an exceptional house (there were 7 of us), complete facilities, an available host (at a distance). What more ? We spent an exotic Christmas in this house, the starting point for our visits to the island of sky or to the north. We recommend this accommodation to those seeking calm and magnificent landscapes.

  • Great location, superb accommodation and very helpful host, we would highly recommend Ash House and would happily go back.

    Michael2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Ash House is in a fantastically tranquil location and is perfect for families. The house is spacious and clean with everything you need to enjoy a comfortable stay. The local area is amazing offering good local walks, fun in the loch and surrounding rivers and a short distance to local shops and villages. A car is a must. Diana was a great host and we would recommend Ash House to anyone looking to visit the area. Thanks again Simon.

    Simon2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location in a beautiful spot. Having a picnic bench by the water is an extra treat! We even saw a couple of otters. The Bealach Cafe at the bottom of the Bealach na bah pass is a lovely spot for food and coffee, and the Kishorn fish bar is great. Diana was so helpful too throughout the booking and made it all run smoothlu! I would highly recommend a stay at Ash House.

    Isabel2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, very clean and tidy.

    Duncan2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ash House is a truly lovely comfortable home in a stunning location with great walking and eating nearby. Diana answered any queries we had very quickly and was a pleasure to deal with. We stayed for two weeks with our dogs and were sad to leave but are happy knowing that we are booked to return next year....:)

    Jenny2019-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Ash House is the perfect place to spend a week in the highlands. The house is perfect to stay in, it has all the amenities you could require, plenty of space and is spotlessly clean. It sleeps up to 8 easily, with space for everyone to share quality time together. If you are eating in, the kitchen is well equipped, for cooking. All the rooms are comfortable with large bathrooms. The views over Applecross are perfect to wake up to as are the sunsets to enjoy in the evening. If you are looking to do things in the area, there are a number of walks or rides direct from the house. In less than an hours drive you can access the whole of Applecross, Torridon, Plockton, Eileen doonan and Kyle of lochalsh. I can’t recommend Ash house highly enough as a great place to stay for a highland break.

    Ben2019-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Ash House is a wonderful venue for a break on the beautiful West Coast. The be house has every facility you could want, kitchen well equipped and modern, bedrooms roomy, beds comfortable, bathrooms (x3) ideal for big parties. Diana & Milo were brilliant remote hosts and together with parents nearby were able to help with all our random queries. We would love to return to the area to explore the area when the weather is kinder - we suffered rain all week due to the impact of two Atlantic storms hitting the northern UK. I would definitely recommend the property.

  • We stayed in lots of fab places on our NC500 journey, this was one of our favourites. It’s a magical little spot. We arrived in the dark after dinner (at Kishorn Seafood Restaurant which we HIGHLY recommend). I phoned ahead to say we wouldn’t get there til 9ish which I was worried about as quite a late check-in but it was no problem for the hosts at all. We drove down the road in the dark which was actually amazing, there’s a pine forest which looks like something out of a film! We arrived to find a spacious, comfortable room with a huge window and in the morning: oh the view! It’s stunning. We kept the curtain open all night so we’d get the dawn light and it was beautiful. The wooden decking out the front is lovely too, a perfect place to sit and watch for seals, birds, next door’s sheep eating the seaweed and, if you’re luckier than me, maybe an otter. You can see over to Plockton, the lighthouse, a castle and across one of Scotland’s prettiest lochs. Roy was a great host, talking to us about our journey and full of tips. He’s lived there all his life so he’s a mine of local info. Breakfast was a lovely filling start to the day. I was worried the B&B was a little off the route but it’s perfect actually, especially as a first or last stop. The road takes you past a little ruined castle which is a nice stop, and past some beautiful bits of the loch. Lochcarron is less than 15 mins away. I’d have happily stayed a few nights here, it’s a lovely area.

  • If you like remote places, this is the place to go - it's more than 5 stars. Binoculars where available in room for you to enjoy the seals in the Loch. A very warm welcome by Fiona and a really good breakfast. Fantastic advice in regards to the area.

  • Lovely room, great host and very good breakfast. Views to die for.

    Jo2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem. I only wish we’d stayed for longer! We saw sheep on our way there, and Fiona gave great advice on where to eat ahead of our arrival since it’s quite remote. Hot homecooked breakfast in the morning was delicious and Fiona was charming, kind and so wonderful. Highly recommend staying here! It was so quiet and peaceful.

  • Pleasantly quiet location, nice hostess! Room was great!

    Katharina2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Sheena’s B&B is off the normal route, making the location quite special. The room was spacious and had a sofa and walk-in wardrobe as well. An ample cooked breakfast is offered and Sheena will try to cater for food intolerance. We only stayed one night, so couldn’t explore the area so much, but Sheena gave us some helpful hints. There is an extensive wool/ weaving shop nearby selling knits and tartan products. As there is no restaurant nearby, we stopped at a good seafood restaurant at Kishorn on our way there in the evening, although Lochcarron would be closer.

Adventure Activities •Mountain & Sea Guides, Applecross – Sea kayak trips, guided hillwalking and mountaineering trips . •Martin Moran Mountaineering, Lochcarron – Guided mountaineering courses . Beaches •There's a stone and sand beach right in front of the chalet in Achintraid (it's a lot bigger when the tide's out!) full of mussels, cockles and oyster shells. Rentals •Lochcarron Garage will rent mountain bikes. •Calum’s Seal Trips in Plockton rent canoes and boats. •Lochcarron Garage in Lochcarron rent cars. •Most of the national car hire companies operate from Inverness. Reraig Forest •Reraig forest is the sporting estate to the south (i.e. behind) the chalet and the owners are keen to make it as accessible as possible. Alternatively, walk right 100m from the road by the Chalet and follow the signs for the hill paths above Achintraid. •A selection of walking books and maps will be provided in the chalet for your use. Any time of day is good for otter-spotting but it is easiest when the loch is calm, they have even been seen walking on the road in front of the Chalet.
  • An idyllic location and the perfect getaway whether you’re wanting to cosy up inside for a peaceful break or get out and explore. You won’t be disappointed.

  • My family and I had a lovely stay here for a week! The house was larger than we expected. There were some toys for my 18 months old son, so he was always smiling even when we couldn't go out because of bad weather. The host Mairi and her family are living next to this house, so she came here soon when we needed her. Towels and other amenities were enough, and the dishwasher helped me to spend a lot of time relaxing. Highly recommend, especially for families!!

  • Clean and spacious house right on the edge of an ocean loch. Beautiful, serene views from the lovely balcony made me want to sit and stay for hours.

    Debra2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great view over the bay. Lovely warm and spacious upstairs lounge . Clean and well fitted out.

    Beccy2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location on Loch Kishorn - amazing view right up the Cattle Pass. Good sized bedrooms with a huge upstairs living space - photos online don't do the accommodation justice! We would happily stay here again and Mairi was very helpful. 5 stars. :)

    Chris2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, house with great views across the loch. Well equipped kitchen, really comfy bed, huge sitting room. Lovely and warm. The nearest shop is a 15 minute drive away so it’s worth doing a quick grocery shop before you arrive. There’s a really nice walk straight from the house, across the hill to Loch Carron. 35 min drive to the Torridon mountains. 10 mins to the scary road over the mountain to Applecross - a must do!

    Mandy2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Mairi was a lovely host and made us feel very welcome, she was super quick to respond to any queries we had. The property itself is situated in a spectacular location overlooking loch Kishorn, with views of the mountains beyond - the pictures do not do it justice. It was easy to find the cottage and check-in was seamless. The cottage was immaculately clean and the views from the upstairs sitting room were breathtaking. Our stay was very comfortable and we found it a really great base for exploring the Applecross peninsula and the Isle of Skye. The village itself was peaceful. We wished we could have stayed longer and highly recommend Mairi's cottage to anyone thinking of visiting the area.

    Tabby2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely setting, and a very comfortable cottage with great views. Mairi was a really good host.

    Dee2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place. Panoramic view over the loch and mountains looking straight over to Baelach na ba. We could sit for hours watching the constantly changing scene as the tide rose and fell and the clouds rain sun and rainbows formed and went. There was fresh coffee and milk but you need to bring food as nearest shops a long way away. The house was spotless and we could not have been made more welcome. Highly recommended.

Sheena was a great host making us feel welcome in her home. Needing to find refuge last minute due to bad weather on our camping holiday brought us to a beautiful part of the country!

    Declan2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The family room is very big, clean and comfty. The breakfast is great. The b&b is quite far from the first restaurant. We love the view of the lake and the peaceful of the place.

  • The surroundings are beautiful. A bit out of civilization but it is appreciated. It has a table on the terrace sticking to the lake for spectacular dinner. We took two rooms. One with a bathroom and the other with the bathroom outside, but only for us. For breakfast they offer you many options, from toast with butter, yogurt, cereals, coffee ... to sausages, eggs ... Would come back.

  • This is a beautiful location and a wonderful B and B. Fiona and Roy are the loveliest hosts you will ever meet. The room and bathroom are very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. There are excellent places to dine out in town (Carron Restaurant, Locharron Bistro, Kishorn Seafood Bar) which are only 15 minutes away. After reading other reviews, I was curious to see what the road was like out to Ardaneaskan, and it's just like all of the other 1 track roads in the region...it's fine. Roy has excellent tips for things to do in the area. We drove out to Applecross and walked the Sand to Applecross Bay Trail which offers beautiful views over the sea to Skye :) Thank you, Fiona and Roy, for a great stay!
