Parks & nature in Lopez Island

Park
“This short (approx 1/2 mile trail) leads out to cliffs that overlook tumultuous seas. (Not great for little children as there are no railings and a fall would be disastrous.) You can view sea lions and seals hauled out on the rocks and watch boats fight the current and whirlpools to make passage. Great place to pack a picnic (if you don't mind sitting on the ground) and watch the world go by. One note of caution....on occasion, locals have been known to sunbathe in the nude on the lower rocks. ”

“This small park with a long sand & gravel beach is perfect for collecting rocks and beach combing. There is a picnic table and it is next to a lagoon that is a migrational stop for birds. ”

“This isolated piece of public land has trails leading to a sandy beach. The trails are easy and fairly level. There is a pit toilet next to the parking area.”

“Short drive south of Lopez Village, can walk along the beach or drive on to park and walk to the Spit to overlook some of Lopez Island's water setting. Parking and restroom at trail head.”
