Relax and enjoy the countryside! Historic 1796 Plantation Farm has a charming two room guest house nestled in the rolling hills of Northern Virginia. This quaint cottage was formerly a school house located in Hillsboro, Va. In the early 1900's, this building was pulled 11 miles by mule to its current location. It now sits in a neighborhood surrounded by horse farms and mountain views.
The entrance of the guest house is through the side door. The largest room shares the living space and bedroom, second space is a kitchen and dining area which leads to a full bathroom in the back. There is a queen bed, sofa and chaise. The space is ideal for a couple. To accommodate a group of friends or requests to bring kids, number of guests settings was increased to three. The sofa has been comfortable for an adult or a child. The chaise is comfortable for children.
Tree-lined streets, gravel road, rural neighborhood surrounded by horse farms and mountain views.
  • So many beautiful details to ensure a really spectacular relaxing stay. The farm, the breakfast, the sounds of nature, the seclusion, the list goes on. If you're looking for a getaway on a rustic but well kept and detail oriented farmstead, this is the spot!

  • This place is absolutely crazy for the value. The guest house is extremely cozy and is ideal for a romantic get away. The size of the space makes it intimate. The kitchen is stocked with pans and pots, different seasonings, and attractive utensils. Mary Ann had fresh grapes, eggs, orange juice, spring water and yogurt for us in the fridge. The farm is wonderful and the animals are friendly and adorable. Goats, cows, chicken and her friendly greeter Russel the border collie mix. The bed was extremely comfortable and very clean. WiFi is good enough to stream movies and the TV is high quality with cable. The best part is the stars at night. It's so clear you can see the milky way.

  • This is a beautiful and charming location, close to Leesburg, Harpers Ferry & multiple vineyards.

    Susan2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • The guest house is a perfect blend of romantic and family-friendly. It was private and at the same time flowed with the main farmhouse. The property has plenty to do. Our family enjoyed the chickens, the creek and the trampoline. Mary Ann is warm and welcoming. No detail was overlooked--things like jam ramekins in the fridge, fuzzy blankets, a hair dryer, candles, and fresh farm eggs. Close to lots to do Harpers Ferry. We are already planning our next trip!

  • We had an amazing stay. They made us feel so welcome. The breakfast food was the cherry on top. We will definitely visit again!

  • Don't even think twice ...... Book it! This is by far the best AirBnB experience I've ever had!! My boyfriend and I escaped the city life for a relaxing weekend. The cabin was located in their gorgeous farm/home. It beautifully decorated, very clean, cozy, quiet... Just perfect. She left us delicious fresh bread, fresh eggs, homemade jam, berries, coffee, and all kinds of snacks!! We had so much fun walking around the farm, playing with the chickens, goats and cows. We feel so relaxed and rejuvenated going back to Miami. We're definitely coming back!

    Ruth2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Mary Ann's place. It's so comfortable and homey, and very clean. Check-in was incredibly easy and efficient and we hope to be back!

We welcome you to a cozy room on our farmstead in the heart of rural western Loudoun County's wine country. You’ll enjoy ample outdoor space, beautiful light, a peaceful atmosphere, all while being a stone's throw from the nation's capital or our rural community's farms and restaurants. A great fit for couples, solo adventurers, or those looking to escape for a weekend retreat. Share the kitchen and common living space, and enjoy a simple breakfast and self-serve coffee and tea all day.
The main house is a 1900's farm house that we have been lovingly updating. We live in this home, so you will share it with my husband and I. You will have your own private room, and access to two shared full bathrooms. Wi-fi is available. Feel welcome to use our kitchen and all common living spaces. You will be provided with coffee, tea, and simple breakfast (yogurt, cereal, granola) during your stay. We are avid cooks and you'll find the kitchen suitable for most cooking needs; however, there is currently no microwave. Since we also use the kitchen, it's good to communicate ahead of time, but you can certainly cook for yourself, provided you clean up. This is a working, small farmstead. There are several outbuildings on the property, including our chicken coop and run-in shed (we raise chickens and ducks for eggs), and a semi-restored 1790s cabin that you are welcome to poke around in. We also have a small culinary shiitake mushroom operation. Feel free to explore our partially wooded acreage, or sit on the brick terrace with your morning cup of tea.
Our home is in the heart of rural western Loudoun County, at the foot of the Short Hill mountain. We are located a stone's throw away from farm-to-table restaurants, goat cheese creameries, wineries, breweries, distilleries, and historic sites, and are happy to share our insights and help you plan your stay.
  • Sarah's place was great! Very clean and homey. Had a real B and B feel complete with homemade granola and bread in the morning. I would be lying if I was to say I didn't contemplate stealing her adorable affectionate cat.

    Julie2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • It was amazing! This place is a marvel. And Sarah and Ben the most wonderful hosts. We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the place and the surroundings. And the breakfast was one of a kind. We'd love to come back one day! Thank you so much.

    Michael2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Ben were great hosts. Their home is so comfortable and we enjoyed walking around the property to see the ducks and chickens and mushrooms! Also Sarah makes a great granola that we enjoyed for breakfast. I’d love to stay again!

    Joep and Courtney2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's home is a wonderful mixture of modern and classic farmhouse style. Her maple-walnut granola is absolutely on point, and waking up to a rooster outside and her playful cat at the door is something we could not have found anywhere else. My mother and I stayed here while attending the Contemporary American Theatre Festival in Shepherdstown, WV. While the commute was a little long, it was scenic and peaceful. The town of Lovettesville is definitely small, but we were able to find late food on a Friday night and could see so many stars that we didn't mind one bit. This place is perfect if you're looking for a simple, clean, comfortable place while you're visiting a neighboring town or exploring the historic area. I very much recommend and hope to go back one day!

    Katherine2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This house is set off from the road in beautiful hilly countryside. Perfect if you want to get away for a weekend to get some peace and quiet. We stayed for 4 nights and had the most wonderful time. We had the house to our selves for 2 nights and Sarah was more than hospitable about leaving her house with us to look after. The room is quiet and away from any street lighting, all you can see in the trees are the lights from the fireflies which make the trees look like they have flicking lights fitted. The cat is super friendly and will come for cuddles, it will not scratch you or be any trouble. We had everything we needed, and there was delicious homemade treats left out for us. If you want to go tubing its very close and convenient for Harpers Ferry and a day trip to Fredrick is definately recommended. If we get the change we would go back and stay there again. Missing the cat already, she's hilarious!

This piece of the Seventies features a tiny house, if you will, including two beds, a dinette and tiny kitchen. Access to full, private bath. Linens, towels provided. Incidentally, the bath dedicated to campers is also imbued with a 70s vibe as our home was built in 1972. The shower is 70s chic--or just plain old grey tile, toilet and sink--and located just steps from the camper. It is not lux, but guests are camping, after all, and it's easy to imagine the bath located at a KOA! Just saying... Sleeps two adults-- additional sleeping in optional covered cot for one--Such fun. Despite the cuteness, this is still CAMPING. Camp in sight of the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. Walk to Dutchmans Creek, tour Virginia vineyards and artisan workshops. Henrietta can also be delivered to a nearby campground if you prefer. Room to sleep two adults in trailer and additional sleeping room for one adult in optional cot/tent. All linens provided. Bath linens also provided. Henrietta comes with air conditioning, heating as needed, a George Foreman grill, a hot plate, a camp stove, and microwave as well as the coffee maker.
The camper has a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge mountains. The property is remote and quiet. Easy drive to vineyards and nearby breweries. Relax, fly a kite, roast marshmallows, make ice cream.
  • My best friend was in visiting from Michigan and we wanted a cool place out of the city to explore and have a unique experience. We got exactly what we were after. We were pleasantly surprised to find all the special touches like marshmallows for roasting and all the wood we needed for a fire ready to go. The camper was just as described and pictured. 10/10- we will be back.

  • Loved staying at Audrey's place! Henrietta (the camper) is the cutest and Audrey was incredibly thoughtful and hospitable. Would definitely stay here again!

    Lauren2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Henrietta is a nice and cozy camper. The site at Audrey's home is absolutely breath taking. I could see the stars at night and in the morning their was such a beautiful scene with the fog and sun shining through. The weather was also extremely pleasant. Unfortunately I had to leave early. Audrey was so kind to work with me since I had to cut my stay short due to unforeseen circumstances. This is camping, though a bit more cozy than usual camping. There was a heater and air conditioning in the camper. I only used the heater at night and it worked perfectly. Audrey and her husband are wonderful hosts and Henrietta is perfect for a short getaway.

    Sage2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! Feels very secluded and private but is not a far drive from many things! We plan on staying again in the future.

  • Staying in Henrietta was a complete dream! It's the perfect place to read a good book, eat s'mores, and enjoy the outdoors. There is plenty of places to explore in the area and the surrounding towns. Audrey and Peter were kind, considerate hosts. I can't wait to go back!

  • Second time staying with Tracie. Pleasurable time again. My girls enjoyed the small bed that was in the room with me. They felt right at home.

  • We had a very comfortable stay at this delightful historic home, with very warm and friendly hosts. We felt at home right away, and our young kids were excited to (timidly) interact with their sweet dogs and cats for the weekend, since we don't have pets at home. The breakfast treats and cookies were a special surprise. Thanks again for a peaceful time away!

  • I felt welcome. The neighborhood was rural, 3 miles from Lovettsville. It was just like the photo.

    Stephen2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Home is exactly as described--cozy and friendly. Tracie and her husband are kind hosts and quick to respond if you have any questions. Check in and check out were very easy and Tracie provided a basket of very yummy muffins and fruit for breakfast and plenty of coffee. You must like pets to stay here--the dogs are very friendly and they will definitely greet you every time you come back to the house. As a note, if you are looking to do a "working vacation" here, you may want to bring your own hotspot as the Internet is a little on the slow side. Overall loved the experience that Tracie and her husband provided and would be so happy to come back another time.

  • My partner and I stayed with Tracie & Carl for our long weekend to be close to Harper's Ferry. Their home is as pictured, a large yet cozy home. It was wonderful to bring my pup along, she got along great with Tracie's dogs. Carl and Tracie went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The hot tub was a lovely surprise! I would recommend staying with Tracie. I would stay there again.

    J2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tracie and Carl were great hosts. Very sociable and put up with all my questions. They even let me wander around their historic property at my leisure. The room was perfect for me, the muffins and apples a bonus.

  • We spent a quiet weekend in the Milk Cottage on the lovely grounds of Pamela's farm. The kitchen was well stocked with breakfast foods, and the cottage very roomy and homey. It was great to get up early in the morning, walk around and bird watch. The property is also conveniently located near Harpers Ferry (and flea markets) and Purcellville and all it has to offer--including good restaurants, vineyards and breweries. Recommended!

The Horine Building is close to The C&O Canal Trail, Brunswick MARC Train Station, Local Shops, Restaurants, and even a Brewery converted from the former Fire Station. You’ll love our place because of the comfy Tuft & Needle mattresses, the high ceilings, the kitchen, and the coziness. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families with older kids. (Younger children are welcome, however, please note that the building and the apartment are not childproof.)
This two bedroom apartment is in a beautiful historic building to the town of Brunswick. Although the 10’ ceilings and abundance of millwork are charming, it is the location at the very crossroads of the town, as well as it’s proximity to the 55th mile on the C&O Canal Trail, that make this the ideal location for a night - or several!

  • What a lovely place!! It was perfect for our weekend getaway. The house was beautiful and very well maintained. Roberta checked in to make everything was perfect which was so sweet and she even left us a bottle of wine and some breakfast food. It was such a nice and surprising gesture. I would highly recommend staying here and if I were ever back in the area I would absolutely stay here again.

  • This home is massive inside and absolutely stunning. My kids wanted us to find a way to buy it they loved it so much. In a very nice wooded are away from the busy streets but a perfect base to explore the surrounding cities. After a very long day in DC we came back and relaxed in style. There was nothing we needed that was not there. Perfectly clean, beautifully decorated and there was so much space the six of us often had to go find each other. Everyone found a room to kick back and relax in. You will not be disappointed and we will definitely be back!!!

  • We were staying at Roberta's home for my wedding weekend in Harper's Ferry and from the moment we arrived I felt very welcome. They provided us with breakfast food which was very convenient. House was incredibly clean and plenty of space for everyone. They were even kind enough to set up their fire pit for us before heading out. I would definitely recommend this house to any visitors in the area

  • This was a lovely getaway! Roberta and Rich welcomed us to their lovely home, they had breakfast basics in the fridge for us, and great recommendations for restaurants, wineries and other destinations nearby. We liked getting away from more touristy and crowded Harpers Ferry, but to be within an easy (and scenic) drive to it. The home is lovely, well kept and clean. The beds incredibly comfortable. Can't recommend this spot enough!

The location is down a gravel country lane, off the beaten path in a peaceful and natural setting and yet easy to get back out to action in the surrounding towns. Bonus: there is a nice trail nearby that leads to a pebble beach on the river.
  • Katie and Nathan were very welcoming and easy going. We had a fresh eggs, milk, and OJ in the fridge when we got there and everything we needed for our first family vacation with our 3 month old. They even had a pack-n-play for us to use. The apartment worked out perfectly for lovely country walks, a hike down to the river, and visits to Harper's Ferry and Frederick, MD. It was a great trip and Katie and Nathan were lovely hosts!

    Becky2016-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Katie and Nathan's place is absolutely lovely; spacious, homey, clean and private. We loved our weekend experience and the relaxing vibe the place exuded. You can be as active (breweries, wineries,) or as lazy as you want (we were) and this place provides you the option. Katie and Nathan were super welcoming and prompt in their responses to our inquiries. Highly recommended.

  • We found this place because we're in town to attend a wedding. This was a quaint little town. Nathan and Katie were wonderful hosts, the one bedroom was clean and very pretty. If you want to hike at Harpers Ferry and don't want to camp out, this is the perfect location. If I were to come back, I would absolutely stay there again and highly recommend anyone looking for a place in the Harpers Ferry/ Lovettsville area to stay here!

    Ting-yi2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed two weeks in this great little apartment. The setting was fantastic - forest views out every window. The apartment was clean, quiet, and everything we'd hoped for. Plus fresh eggs every morning! With the deep in the country location, every night was great sleeping, with nice quiet darkness - and the crickets serenading you to sleep. While it was a long haul to the grocery store (45 minutes round trip), there's a convenient mart just five miles away. Lovettsville is a nice little town, with great places to eat, including gourmet restaurants and nearby wineries. Also handy was our main target, Harpers Ferry. Would definitely go here again.

  • Katie and Nathan were such wonderful hosts! They went out of their way to make us feel at home, including leaving fresh eggs, cream and other goodies in the fridge. They even invited us to the neighborhood barn dance. Even though we couldn't make it, we so appreciated it. Their place is from another time- a perfectly tranquil retreat nestled in the deep countryside. The apartment has beautiful art and everything you could need for a quiet, peaceful escape. Our little ones loved the doggy and the chickens. This place is beautiful beyond compare. Thank you so much, Katie and Nathan!

  • I highly recommend staying at Katie and Nathan's Wine Country Cottage. My boyfriend and I were looking for a relaxing getaway from DC, and this location was perfect. The house is located 10 minutes down a dirt road in the beautiful VA countryside. It's also conveniently located just over an hour from DC and 30 minutes from Harpers Ferry. The apartment itself is beautiful, and has just about everything you need - Katie and Nathan even stocked the fridge with fresh eggs, milk, orange juice, and bread. They also have an adorable dog who loves to play fetch. Lastly, Katie and Nathan were incredibly friendly. They gave us wonderful recommendations for places to eat/things to do, and were even flexible with checking out due to poor weather conditions. I hope to come back in the summer!

  • Katie and Nathan were wonderful hosts. The place had great indoor and outdoor space, and was very comfortable.

  • This was my second stay at Katie and Nathan's, and their hospitality was top notch. Katie was easy to communicate with, and the cottage has a great book of wonderful local recommendations. The space is spacious, warm and cozy, and has thoughtful touches like some key staples (coffee!) ready for use.

The 116 year old Farmhouse has been fully renovated and is a wonderful place to relax and getaway to the countryside of Loudoun County. We are located in the heart of Virginia Wine and Craft Beer Country, two miles outside the historic town of Waterford!
  • Perfect place to catch up with old friends. The back patio was like an extra living room, and the property was beautiful. Thanks again!

  • Kim's house was the perfect weekend getaway. It was adorable! She was a wonderful host and very helpful. She gave us great tips, especially the best wineries and breweries. It is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy time with friends and family.

  • Fantastic quite getaway in wine county to escape the world for a few days!

    Zackery2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Kim's place, beautiful old house however very clean and with all the amenities one needs. Location is a short drive from many sightseeing locations, including Harpers Ferry. Recommended.

    Frederik Jan2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Kim's place was adorable and exactly what we hoped it would be. We were a group of 4 with one guest arriving late and leaving early. Kim was a great host and communicated with us throughout (at our request) to get us set up. She was kind enough to leave an air mattress for our extra guest. Firewood would plentiful and we ended up spending each night around the fire catching up - I would highly recommend Kim and her bnb to anyone who wants a quiet, romantic and/or country get away. Wine country was just around the corner and we were able to come and go as we needed during the day - proximity for being in the countryside was exceptional. Cannot say enough good things!

  • We stayed at this great farm house for a long weekend to get away from the city. It was just what we needed. Lovely home on a nice, scenic property. Kim was an excellent host and we had everything we needed. We will definitely be coming back!

Enjoy a restful getaway in our certified Wildlife Sanctuary. Relax in a lovely studio apartment with magnificent mountain views. Begin or end your day meandering on trails through our conservation fields and forest. Breathe deeply and refresh!
The spacious apartment for two is situated above my art studio and accessed via indoor stairs to second floor. It is furnished with a queen-sized bed, seating & dining area with magnificent views of the mountains in Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. The bathroom and galley kitchen are located on the first floor adjacent to my art studio. My art studio is off-limits to guests other than as a pass-through to the galley kitchen and bathroom. We provide fresh towels and linens, basic condiments and snacks. Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions. The galley kitchen, located on the first floor, is equipped with coffee & tea supplies; a small refrigerator and microwave. PLEASE NOTE: The galley kitchen is not for cooking and meal preparation as in a full kitchen. It is for heating simple food and drink items in the microwave. The bathroom has a shower. Artists and writers may find it a perfect setting for inspiration and meditations on their creative projects. Meads Run Farm is near the Potomac River in western Loudoun County, Virginia's wine and horse country, minutes from the C&O Canal bike and hike path (on which you can bicycle to Harpers Ferry, WV only 12 miles away). Bring your hiking shoes and backpack for a day hike on the Appalachian Trail, minutes from our home. Taste local wines at one or more area vineyards, enjoy antiques shops and finish the day at an award-winning restaurant. Country fairs, festivals, farm and arts tours are other key features of this area. The historic towns of Leesburg, VA and Frederick, MD are only 20 minutes away by car. We both love the outdoors and look forward to sharing our enthusiasm and knowledge about the area, including our interest in local agriculture & John's organic vegetable garden; native plants, birds and other wildlife.
For some of our favorite restaurants, vineyards, points of interest, please go to the Guidebook section. Please note that grocery stores are one-half hour away in either Frederick, MD or Leesburg, VA if you wish to stock up on prepared foods and basics. There is a 7-11 convenience store in the Town of Lovettsville. We live in a rural area which still has horse and cattle farms, open space and small villages scattered through the county. Lovely country roads can lead you to a vineyard, an arts festival, a farmers' market, local musicians playing in a brew pub or cafe. Lovettsville hosts an Oktoberfest in late September, nearby Waterford has its well-known annual Waterford Fair in October; the Western Loudoun Artists Studio Tour is held every June; events at Morven Park in Leesburg are close enough to consider during your stay; and much more.
  • I had a wonderful, relaxing stay! I can't wait to come back for another visit. The apartment was perfect, just as described only more comfortable and peaceful than you could imagine. I was surprised by the beautiful sunrise view from the bed each morning! The trail was awesome, and there were so many birds. The property is secluded and you really feel like you've gotten away from it all. Suzanne was a perfect host - helpful but not in the way :) She welcomed me with some tasty homemade yogurt and tea and some other things in the fridge! I can't wait to return.

    Jane2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a FANTASTIC time at Suzanne & John's farm. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and were looking for a peaceful place to spend the weekend...but we got much more than that. Our hosts were always available to talk about what to do in the region at the same time they gave us the space to be by ourselves. Suzanne and John provided us with excellent hiking location tips, made reservations at local restaurants, and gave us the best homemade yogurt we ever had. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay, near wineries, hiking trails, great restaurants, you can't go wrong with this location.

    lucas2015-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely accommodations, gracious host, beautiful views, excellent art, thoughtful and delicious breakfast... the only thing wrong with this place was the length of our stay (only one night!) This is a place we could happily visit for a week or two!

    Sam2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • This location is truly ideal if you want to visit Market Table Bistro or Patowmack Farm restaurants, or Hidden Creek winery which are all very closeby in Lovettsville as well as Harper's Ferry proper. The property itself is very serene and quiet and a walking loop around the property (maybe a little over a mile?) was a great addition. For folks who may have trouble with stairs, this is a second floor/upstairs bedroom. Very easy to come and go with it's own entrance and hosts were very responsive and hospitable!

    Brooke2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne's apartment is a beautiful place in a rural and extremely quiet setting. We arrived on a Saturday night covered in mud from head to toe after biking on the muddy C&O trail. She welcomed us warmly, gave us a thorough orientation and offered the use of her outside hose for washing off the bikes - and our muddy legs! The welcome included homemade salsa and chips, peanuts and other assorted goodies. The spacious and bright apartment is nicely furnished and the little kitchen in the studio was perfect for storing our wine/beer and making coffee and tea in the morning. Suzanne provided (with John's help for the berry picking) a breakfast of steel cut oatmeal, fresh fruit along with John's homemade yogurt. This breakfast was not only was delicious but beautiful as well - certainly can tell that Suzanne is an artist. Comfy bed, clean towels, lot of space, nice people - our only regret is that we just stayed one night.

    Carol2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne and John were wonderful hosts and made the stay easy and comfortable.

    Michael2016-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • I only stayed there for one night but it was a wonderful night. Suzanne and her husband were wonderful hosts. They were filled with suggestions for local restaurants and very accommodating. They provided a breakfast the morning we left and also snacks when we arrived. They showed us a path around the property that had blackberries. The property itself was beautiful and secluded exactly what I had hoped for when I booked.

    Benjamin2015-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne and her husband were absolutely amazing hosts! We really couldn't have asked for a better experience. My boyfriend and I actually spent our 9 year anniversary there for the weekend - with high expectations - and Suzanne definitely exceeded them! :-) First, the apartment has amazing views of the forest and is actually two floors; so the upstairs bedroom feels very private - almost like you're in a treehouse. The apartment is clean, cozy, with artwork in every nook and cranny. The property itself is gorgeous too - incredibly green and well maintained. The location, while it might seem remote on a map, is actually smack dab in the middle of all the awesomeness of this most northern tip of Northern Virginia. A 4 minute drive from the Restaurant at Potowmack Farms (really amazing - spend the cash and go if you're able to!), a 4 minute drive from a local winery and then otherwise surrounded by other wineries and breweries. You could actually take your bike out and just do a bike tour of the local wineries and breweries right from the apartment! Also a short drive to the adorable town of Lovettesville (you MUST go to Market Table Bistro, serious incredible) and 20 minutes from Frederick (go to Volt for brunch there - really well priced for everything you get!). But I would have to say that the best part about the stay was actually Suzanne herself! What an angel. She prepared some breakfast for both of the nights we were there, which I really didn't expect, and left it for us the night before. Our first night she gave us homemade greek yogurt with fresh berries and local honey for the morning, and the next day, steel cut oats with fresh cream and berries. I mean, come on - so adorable and considerate! She and her husband made us feel very comfortable and welcome. We really felt like we were staying with a family friend or relative. It was wonderful, highly recommend!

My place is close to River Riders, Harper's Ferry , Appalachian Trail and the C & O Canal. You’ll love my place because of the coziness, the high ceilings, the views, and the location. Easy commute to Washington DC. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
I love the quietness of the neighborhood.
  • As I drove up to Tammy's beautiful home in a lovely neighborhood, Tammy was at the door waiting to greet me. I was comfortable right away and felt welcomed and relaxed . The private bedroom ensuite on the second floor above the family living area is perfect for either a solo traveler or couple. The location was great for me as I enjoyed hiking some of the trails around Harper's Ferry NP which is approximately 8 miles away. There are fun places to eat out in Brunswick. Tammy had coffee available every morning. I will definitely stay with Tammy again.

  • A 10 minute drive to Harpers Ferry. Perfect. Nice Towels and furnishings, great comfy bed. Great bathroom WITH provided great bath items too! Easy check in and out, good communication. I always like the key code locks. Tammie accommodated my check in time change too from late night to mid afternoon. Even a bottle of pellegrino and some snacks waiting for me on arrival!

  • Tammie and her husband are wonderful, welcoming, interesting people. The bed was VERY comfortable, and the room was a perfect blend of homey yet elegant. The house is close to a great walking trail as well as a small wetland with interesting birds. I loved my stay here, and want to find an excuse to come back!

Stay in a piece of history!! Only 1 hour from DC or Baltimore. Our home has 2-foot thick walls, built in approximately the 1770s. Original heart-of-pine floors throughout, and we are close to everything in this historic area. Right across the street from the C&O Canal and towpath (We have a footbridge across the canal especially for cyclists!) and only 1/2 mile from the Appalachian Trail, we are perfect for cyclists, hikers, history seekers, solos, couples, small families or business travel.
The bedroom is on the 2nd floor, where you will have privacy and your own bathroom, but you will need to be able to navigate stairs. The bed is a double with a Serta Perfect Sleeper pillow top mattress, and we have open space up there that can also host guests on two twin or one queen air mattress. Please let us know what kind of experience you are looking for - from just a place to rest your head in privacy and peace, to full interaction with us as hosts including a tour of our garden or other adventure. My husband is a bass fisherman and the best wade fishing on the Potomac is across the street! For an extra fee he can act as guide and provide fishing gear for adults and kids. We will provide a light breakfast of breads, fruits, boiled eggs and/or pastries, just let us know what you like, or you're welcome to make your own with what we have! Our kitchen is yours. We love to cook and in the summer we have 17 raised beds of garlic, tomatoes, onions, asparagus, peppers, squash and other varieties in our garden. Kitchen is accessible with all appliances. We have Mr. Coffee and a Keurig coffee pot, so you can bring your own specialty K-cups if you like, or we will provide common ones with all the additives. We also will provide a variety of teas. Let us know if you require a special additive ahead of time and we'll do our best to provide it. Iron, ironing board and laundry are all on 1st floor.
We are across the street from the C&O Canal and Towpath, so cyclists or hikers just have to cross the canal, then the railroad tracks and you're at our house! If we know you're coming, we can put a temporary marker on the towpath. Our house is only 1/2 mile from the Appalachian Trail! Brunswick is only a little over a mile away, has a local brewhouse, Smoketown Brewery, and is famous for it's coffee house Beans in the Belfry. If you're a train lover, you will love this area. Brunswick also has a huge train yard and museum.
  • Bikers: there is a bridge right in front of the house. You don't have to go around! Kelly is from the Deep South and her southern hospitality shines brightly! She met us cheerily at the door in our bedraggled state after a long bike ride. We chatted for a bit and went to clean up. The space is lovely! We slept well and woke up to a brewed pot of coffee, since we left before dawn. We took the bridge and were off to the next adventure! We hope to stay with Kelly again. PS Eat at Beans in the Belfry just down the road.

  • Kelly and her husband Scott were very gracious and welcoming hosts. Their guest room is tastefully decorated and comfortable. There were nice amenities like a TV with Roku, waters, and even chocolates. I would highly recommend their guest room to everyone.

  • Kelly and Scott's place was perfect for our quick trip to do some biking. Scott can tell you all the best spots to go to nearby and was extremely helpful. They also have a great selection of coffee varieties and breakfast snacks. Great family and very welcoming.

  • I enjoyed every second of staying at Kelly and Scott’s home. I took a day and a half trip up to Harper’s Ferry, and found the perfect place so close to my awaiting adventures - Kelly and Scott’s home! Right from the start I was greeted so warmly by them, and their kind family - the kiddos. Kelly and Scott left my friend and I a packet of activities to check out while in town which helped out a lot! The home was very clean and artistic which added a even more so blissful aura to all the traveling. Kelly and Scott’s place was clean, and located in just the right area. My friend and I were provided with Netflix, Pandora and more on our TV, fast speed WiFi, and even to go breakfast options! I would highly recommend staying at Kelly and Scott’s place, and will for sure come back.

  • This was a very pleasant stay for us. Kelly and her family were super-welcoming throughout. You have a floor that is to yourself; the room is slightly small but it is cozy and has a comfortable bed. Bathroom is outside the room, right next to it and is very convenient. It took us about 9 minutes to drive to Harpers' Ferry which was great.

  • This was the perfect location for us to view the meteor shower within a short drive from DC. And the back drive to the home with the sunset was amazing. Cornelia was warm and inviting and we really enjoyed meeting her and spending a short visit at the farm. The breakfast was above and beyond what we expected and delicious! Our space was just right. The room is a bit larger than what it appears in the picture. The mattress on the bed felt dreamy. The only issue that I encountered was that the air conditioning was working too well in the downstairs! We were there just the one night so did not have time to take enjoy all that the home has to offer, such as the large screened porch with a hammock or the expansive grounds. It is a very peaceful and relaxing setting.

  • Andrew's house was very spacious. Great facilities and appliances - basically new. It was very scenic and perfect for unplugging, a romantic getaway, or a quiet retreat. The bacon and eggs he provides from his farm were delicious. Andrew was also very flexible about departure times.

A great weekend getaway cabin. An hour from DC area, but totally secluded. Romantic or family fun (or both)- teeming with nature, including a small creek that runs in front of the house. We have rubber boots in almost every size for kids to use!
Come stay for a wonderful spring weekend, winery tours, rafting/fishing the Potomac! A secluded stone cabin, just 50 minutes from Washington, DC and only minutes from Historic Harper's Ferry, a half-dozen of Virginia's finest wineries and access points to the Appalachian Trail and Potomac River. Our small home includes a separate Finnish sauna and outdoor shower. The house has central AC/heat, 2 working fireplaces, and a full kitchen. We are just three minutes from whitewater rafting and tubing on the Potomac River. The house is secluded with only two neighbors within 200 meters. However, there is both casual and upscale dining within 20 minutes of our place. The MARC train departs and returns daily on weekdays from Harper's Ferry and travels to Washington, DC. Our place has been completely remodeled with a modern flair--including a cathedral ceiling in living room, stone walls and custom stairways. It's very small, but has 4 levels, making it seem larger. The creek is steps from the door sounds very nice and helps cool the house in the evenings. Book a rafting or tubing trip with Harper's Ferry Adventure Center. Note: You should bring drinking water because, while ours is perfectly safe, it is well water that has high mineral content and smells a bit funny. In the Spring we have lady bugs and stink bugs that always seem to be there no matter how much we vacuum them up. We'll get them all up the day you arrive, but be prepared to suck up a few more while there.
  • My husband and friends had a great time at Mark's cottage. It was adorable, the location is great, and the place has everything you could need for a weekend away. Mark was worried about some bugs (which we barely noticed), and left some extra wine and snacks in the house for us. Overall, we were disappointed that we couldn't stay longer and would love to go back.

  • Such a beautiful house and setting! Everything about the description was accurate. I went there with my husband, my parents, and my grandmother. There was plenty of space, very comfortable, and great kitchen for cooking all our meals. My family loved it. It's super close to tons of wineries. I will definitely stay here again the next time I want a getaway in Virginia wine country.

  • Despite its proximity to DC, we were pleasantly pleased to discover how remote and quiet Purcellville is. Fireflies glowed in the night sky and deer munched on grass around us. It had a very ethereal quality, that although might be familiar to locals from this area, was a lovely respite to my California family. That said, there were a ton of bugs (huge 1 inch minimum) that were either swarming the doors at night or dead around the house. We didn't get to meet Mark but he provided Wine and chocolate which was very sweet and he was very helpful when we needed his help.

  • This was a great rental. Mark replied immediately to any questions we had and he also gave us lots of recommendations for local attractions. The house and property were just what we expected. We really enjoyed the private nature setting, listening to the spring in front of the house and gazing at the starts at night. The property was so close to Harpers Ferry and local wineries. It was a great vacation!

  • We stayed two nights at this lovely cottage located down a country road next to a babbling stream. We felt like we were in northern italy not in the usa. Everything worked out great. The beds were comfortable, the living room was perfect for reading and playing scrabble, the kitchen had everthing we needed. We were close to all the things we wanted to do and there was an abundance of great reading mayerial. We are looking forward to staying again sometime soon. Thank you.

  • Mark was very communicative and helpful when considering his house. The property itself was very unique, situated in a prime location for anyone looking to stay in the Harpers Ferry area. Lots of open outdoor space to relax and unwind. The creek flowing through the front yard was especially nice. The house itself was old, but charming. It had the amenities needed for the couple of nights that we stayed, though most of our time was spent outdoors–in town, on the river, and even a trip to the casino. Definitely not for those seeking luxury, but more of a "cabin in the woods" feel. My only complaints were that the bed we slept on was a little too firm (for our liking) and the water had a terrible smell to it. We discovered what we thought was a leak in the downstairs bathroom, but were later told it was due to rain water seeping in. Overall, a very enjoyable and memorable experience.

    James2014-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Mark's stone schoolhouse. It was rustic and quiet with a beautiful surrounding yard and view; the perfect place to take our pups on a weekend getaway. We loved the proximity to local wineries, hiking, and historic Harpers Ferry. The sauna was an added bonus and brought warmth and rejuvenation to a somewhat gloomy weekend. The school house stayed nice and cozy too while we hung out by the fireplace and played some games. The goodies Mark generously provided were an added bonus. We would love to come back.

    Haley 2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I stayed for a long weekend in this lovely home. The place was perfect and we loved how private the property was. Convenient to all of the fun activities, but tucked away so that you feel surrounded by nature. Mark was extremely accommodating and helped us to make our tubing plans. We are talking about making the weekend an annual tradition!

Rustic 1870's farmhouse in Loudoun, VA, off a scenic byway near Historic Harper's Ferry, wineries, casino, restaurants, farms, and adventure parks. Send a message for alternate dates, longer term, and special requests.
The home is a very unique and rustic log farmhouse built circa 1870. The home has all of the modern conveniences but retains much of its original rustic character. The home is in a valley between two mountains, Short Hill to the East and the Blue Ridge to the West. The house has a large room for relaxing, and dining. A full kitchen, two bedrooms, and a sitting area. There is a large covered front porch with chairs for relaxing. The porch has a view of the vineyard across the street, and is great for sipping wine and watching the cars go by.
The best part about the Western section of Loudoun is the many activities, history, wineries, and scenery. A rural setting with quick access to several towns and cities. The wineries often have festivals with music and dining. During warmer weather amazing BBQ can be had on either end of the strip. The house backs up to over 600 acres of conservation and parkland. The Appalachian trail and hiking are accessible from the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship, as well as other locations. There are many hikes available around the area. There are several adventure parks for outdoor adventures, as well as many historical parks. There is a lot to do and see in the area.
  • Our stay at the Homestead was wonderful. The pictures do not do this place justice--it is even better in person. The pastoral views were relaxing and there was so much to do. Christopher gave us so many wonderful suggestions and was extremely helpful. We enjoyed our stay immensely and hope to come back some time in the future.

  • This is a beautiful home that is highly recommended for a weekend or a few days or R & R. Chris is a very kind host and offered us lots of options of things to do in the area once we arrived. He also gave us some background on the house and history. We had a lovely stay and home to come back soon!

    Holly2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing weekend at this beautiful mountain home. It was so relaxing sitting on the front porch and enjoying the mountain views. Christopher was very accommodating and answered all our questions about where the best eateries were and where to go. Wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be back. There is so much to do in this area. Thank you so much!

  • Short and sweet -- it was awesome! Already booked again. When we entered the house/cabin we asked "where do you want us?" we were told "you have the whole house" WHO KNEW???? We thought we had a bedroom and bathroom!!! This place is in a perfect location for visiting the numerous vineyards in the area and getting out into Harpers Ferry. So nice not to have to drive back home after a day of wine tasting:-) Fresh eggs in the fridge for breakfast and a great front porch for the end of the day. Thank-you Christopher for making our stay so nice!

  • Jennifer has a very lovely home in the middle of Virginia's gorgeous wine country. The decor is great, and I loved the walk in shower. I could have stayed on the beautiful porch and relaxed all day! Jennifer was very flexible and accommodating, and she even surprised my friend and me with some great coffee and tea and treats in the morning. I would absolutely come back here any time I need an escape.

  • Great location for visiting local vineyards. The two twisted posts vineyard right across the street has a nice laid back atmosphere plus you're ten minutes away from Harper's ferry. Clean room, comfy bed, hospitable hosts. Easy in and out process; this is what makes Airbnb great.

  • Wonderful stay in a beautiful home. The setup was great. Jennifer even surprised us with coffee and fruit on the front porch in the morning. We would definitely stay again. Also it was very convenient to multiple wineries and breweries.

  • A beautiful place on a really special piece of land. We had a party of 10 staying in the house including kids and we were very comfortable. The porch was very nice and the kitchen had essentials. Shawna's communication and friendliness made the trip even better. Highly recommend.

    JD & Shelley2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • An idyllic spot for a family getaway. Our stay in the farm was fabulous. House is spacious, kids and adults love the proximity to the animals (6 baby pigs were born the afternoon we arrived), and Shawna is a great host. We will definitely return. Remember to bring your own sheets and towels and know that there is no bathtub.

    Ben2014-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the farmhouse for a lovely yoga retreat. There were 8 ladies total, the house was perfect for yoga for the 6 participants. Hiking was right out the front door and the trails were breathtaking. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

    Kristianna2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful historic house in an idyllic setting - so lovely at night. Tons of bedrooms and common space - definitely should have had MORE people come on our trip to fill up the huge house! Adorable pigs! Quick trip down to Harpers Ferry for swimming and walking around. Great location.

    Bobbie2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Shawna was a great host and we loved our stay. The house is totally comfortable for cooking, hanging out, doing puzzles, etc. We really appreciated the information about the home's history and the log cabin structure. The property is simply gorgeous. Beautiful views in every direction. The trails are great. And it's a quick trip to Harpers Ferry or Shepherdstown (or to the Aldi grocery store). One of the best features: hella stars at night! In short: terrific.

    Laura2016-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Shawna's place was ideal for a weekend getaway in the country. The home is historic, cozy, and easily accommodated our group of 9. We were just a short drive from Harper's Ferry and the area is brimming with vineyards. We enjoyed walking around the property and feeding the goats. Would love to return in the fall to enjoy the beautiful scenery!

    Courtney2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here with a group of friends for a relaxing bachelorette weekend of wine tasting and enjoying the countryside. The farmhouse is amazing. We couldn't stop admiring it. It took all of my willpower not to bring one of the piglets back to DC with me! It was perfect for a large group, with spacious common areas and plenty of bedrooms. My only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend at the house and exploring the immediate area. Shawna was great to work with, as well. She was very accommodating of our special requests and was always responsive. I'm hoping to spend another weekend here soon! I've raved about it to many friends since returning, and we all want to plan a weekend away.

  • My two girlfriends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Roberta welcomed us like old friends and was the warmest, most accommodating hostess. The location is great - full of trees, quiet and general loveliness but also close to wineries. Would recommend highly.

    Kathryn2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing Airbnb experience! My son and I were biking the C and O canal and Roberta kindly offered to pick us up at the Point of Rocks trailhead and shuttle us and our bikes to their home. Not only that, she was worried that we wouldn't have food, so she made us muffins and left eggs and juice etc for breakfast. The place is spectacular - the pictures don't do it justice - and the master bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. (Granted, a bed always feels very comfortable after biking 50 miles!) My son slept in the pull out couch and told me it was a very good pull out bed. They were available to our needs without being obtrusive and were very flexible about shuttling us back to the trailhead the next morning at eight. It was one of the best nights we had on the trail.

    amy2015-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our time here. They were incredibly gracious in lending us their bikes to ride the trails around the nearby river. The fire pit was a lovely way to end the evening both nights, and they even had put food in the refrigerator to make a great breakfast! They went above and beyond with providing us local insider tips on where to go and what to do... 10/10 will be staying there again.

    David2015-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Roberta and Rich were great hosts and truly went above and beyond to make sure we had enjoyed our stay. They stocked the fridge with breakfast food and left out wine and chocolate for us. We got great recommendations from them on wineries to visit and hikes to take. Also, their spacious basement apartment was even nicer than the pictures. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large with a nice shower and they had even built us a fire in the outdoor fire pit. Their house is close to Creek's Edge winery and we went there on Friday night. We made the short trip to Harpers Ferry on Saturday and hiked the Maryland Heights trail. On Sunday, we had jazz brunch at Beans in the Belfry in Brunswick, MD then visited wineries and finished with dinner at Magnolia's at the Mill in nearby Purcellville. Nothing was more than a 20 to 30 minute trip and although I usually can't stand driving I had no problem because the scenery was so nice. Hillborough, Breaux and Creek's Edge were our favorite wineries and we were pleasantly surprised with Beans in the Belfry's jazz brunch. The views from the Maryland Heights trail overlooking Harpers Ferry were unique and probably the highlight of our trip. My girlfriend, dog and I definitely recommend staying here, especially if you live in DC and want to enjoy the countryside without having to travel a long distance. Great hosts made it even better.

    Dennis2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second time staying here and I simply love it. It's a perfect sized place for 2-3 people and is cute, quiet and in a great location. Roberta is a great hostess - communicative, friendly, helpful, all the things you want! And she leaves breakfast items for you, which is so welcoming. I recommend visiting this part of the world and staying with Roberta!

    Kathryn2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Catoctin guest suite for a weekend getaway from the city. The home is a short ways down a nice dirt road from the main road, providing a great secluded feel. The guest suite is spacious, well-kept, and very private from the rest of the home. Roberta prepared the place beautifully for us and left some nice welcome surprises. We were able to easily drive to Harpers Ferry from here and enjoy a day hiking and wondering through the quaint historic town. The Maryland Heights hike is a must. Go for the full loop if you have the time (~3hrs).

    Damon2015-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful gem!!!!! Peace ,quiet, privacy, terrific hosts...perfect for the three of us...all the little touches were very thoughtful...thanks Rich for the running map...would not change a thing about this apartment...don't want to leave!!!!!!!!

  • Perfect location and easy access to wineries, hiking, outdoor activities. The apartment was extremely clean-cleaner than most hotels. Roberta was very hospitable and easy to chat with. Definitely recommend!

  • Multi-room, multi-airbnb, kinda awkward. Download and sign up for an always-running app just to get in the dpor. My battery died at dinner...annoying. Other-guest noise disturbed me too. Bought a big new house they can't afford, is my guess.

  • Anne and Eli were very genuine people and we would love to stay there in the future. They were very welcoming and it felt like we had known them for years. Highly recommend staying with them!

  • The host uses and electronic key system called Kevo. I had never heard of it. You have to load an app onto your phone. My phone was not working and I could not get into the property so I had no where to stay. I told the host I could not use the KEVO system and they never contacted me, said they were sorry or anything. I had to drive back home that night and it ruined my weekend getaway. Had they said they were sorry, I would not be so upset. I wished they could have offered another alternative to get into the home. There was nothing on their listing that indicated you would need a cell phone to enter the home.

  • Very accommodating and friendly. I work odd hours and she was very flexible with my schedule. As luck would have it, her location was also very close to my work. I liked not having to have such a long commute. House is in a nice and quiet neighborhood which is similar to my home. So it was a great fit to being in a home similar to my own home while traveling. Everyone was accommodating and nice. Bed and bathroom was clean, comfortable, etc. Home is beautiful. ☺

The Manor Suite is about 1200 square feet, with a large private balcony overlooking the southern meadow. With its vaulted cathedral ceiling, living room, dining area, full kitchen, private outdoor balcony with patio furniture, and hand carved four-post canopy bed, the Manor Suite is a vision of opulence and luxury. The attached 17 x 22 foot private bathing suite is breathtaking, complete with water closet which has a bidet and toilet.
The graceful yet comfortable chairs, couch, and the hand-carved armoire, dressing tables and bureaus from a castle in Tuscany envelope you in romance and sumptuousness. The tiled floors in the bathing suite are covered in antique oriental hand-woven carpets and rugs in front of the Jacuzzi as well as at the base of the two-person, 10 spray shower (which has benches and beautiful custom tile work). A Duncan Phyfe couch, covered in brocade is provided for lounging and is across the room from the sinks that have been encased in an antique bureau.
  • All around outstanding experience. Beautiful space. We will be coming back for sure!
