“Burgau is a charming fishing village. As you head down towards the beach at Burgau the streets become cobbled and you soon find yourself among the jumble of whitewashed fishermen's cottages that make up the old village. You'll know when you are almost on the beach as you will find little fishing boats pulled up , lining the steeply sloped streets which double as slipways and a harbour. The beach at Burgau is a pleasantly wide stretch of golden sand with cliffs rising up at either end- With Lagos only 20 minutes along the coast to the east and Sagres just a little further to the west Burgau is a good base for exploring the western Algarve. There are some lovely coastal walks from here and many of the neighbouring beaches. ”

“Situated right on the beach, this is a beach bar by day but at night it turns into a great restaurant serving fresh fish and great steaks. We'd recommend booking this one as it's often fully booked, especially in the high season.”

“Praia do Burgau is a lovely little sandy beach located in the small and relatively unspoiled fishing village of Burgau. The beach is backed by high, sloping cliffs but almost disappears when the tide comes in.”

“Luz is a small fishing town in the Algarve that has grown to being one of the most popular family hotspots in the region, while still maintaining its original Algarve charm. One of the most enjoyable things to do in Luz is to walk along the pretty promenade that overlooks the beach and is lined with shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. This is the perfect place to watch the world go by while also great for picking up gifts and knick-knacks or enjoying a cool drink in the sunshine.”
