  • J and F were both very welcoming upon arrival. Unfortunately we didn't get much time to get to know them but they seemed like awesome people that I would have enjoyed talking with more. Their place is an absolute gem and we are so glad that we had the privilege of staying there. We stayed at 4 different places during our trip to Hawaii and this was our favorite. The beautiful beach is steps away and the living space is very private and relaxing. We enjoyed cooking delicious meals in the small outdoor kitchen. We didn't want to leave this place!

  • Janice and Fraser were very welcoming hosts. They were easy to connect with via email since we were travelling without cell service and were helpful in our navigation of the public bus service up to the house in Laie. Super friendly, laid back, helpful in planning day trips. Literally the kind of people you wish were either in your family or you could grow up to be them. The photos and description are a perfect representation of the place. They are all booked up for good reason. Reading the description more carefully after staying there, they describe the location really well but there was a few things we would have liked to know before arriving. Laie is on the quiet side of the North Shore; the town consists mainly of the Polynesian Cultural Centre and the Mormon university and temple. There is one mall type place with a movie theatre (we went, it was great), a burger joint (also great), an ice cream place (husband approved) and a Foodland where you can buy any food you need...except alcohol. You can buy wine/beer etc at neighbouring towns less than five minutes away by car; but we were on the public bus so it would have been good to know to bring some. Most visiting the North Shore probably rent a car. We didn't and took the bus around most days. It was great for us because we weren't ever in a rush but wouldn't suggest depending on it if you like to get places by a certain time as it usually runs late. This was an excellent place to unwind on our honeymoon. We would highly recommend it.

  • Simply amazing. This place is exactly as the pictures are. Super relaxing, spotlessly clean, and to say the beach is your back garden is an understatement. 10 steps to a stunning beach that provides so much privacy in tranquility. J and Fraser are awesome too - they had cold beers in the fridge for us when we arrived and couldn't have been more helpful - whilst giving us lots of privacy and space. J was great on messages before we arrived and really helpful and Fraser came out to greet us at 0130am when we arrived. I couldn't recommend this place more - A+++++++++ I can only hope that one day we will return. If you are going to Hawaii - book here - it's that simple.

  • We had an amazing airbnb stay by the beach. Janice and Fraser who live next door were very warm and friendly without compromising privacy. The property has its own beach access and it felt like we had the beach to ourselves especially early in the morning or late in the afternoon. The beach was perfect for swimming, snorkelling and playing in the waves but the walk along the shore is also very pleasant. The house was clean and had all the amenities we needed. Food trucks and groceries were also a short drive away so we were never hungry. Special mention to Fraser for the best massage I've ever had (twice) which I highly recommend.

  • Beautiful semi open room, plenty of space. the bedroom is well insulated. pictures are very accurate. lovely decoration with shells and adorable hosts. we loved the huge outdoor bathroom and the beach just on the front of the house. it was perfect for our stay and we really enjoyed this place. We looking forward to come back ! Charlotte & Ugo

  • The listing is exactly as described and it's literally a few steps out of the yard and onto the wonderful beach. The location is super quiet and serene, and the picture of the two lounge chairs on the deck says it all. J and Fraiser were incredibly warm and responded almost instantly if I messaged J with any questions about the place once we were there. Go here if you want to relax and get away from Waikiki.

    Chris2015-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at J and Fraser beautiful apartment. We loved the rustic open-air feel of the living and bathing areas, with its sea breezes and sound of the surf. The fully enclosed bedroom was comfy and cozy as well! We made good use of the provided snorkels and masks, electric griddle (perfect for heating water to use in the French press--an automatic coffeemaker is also provided-- and for cooking breakfasts and heating up food truck leftovers!), and huge beach towels. Hosts J and Fraser are friendly and welcoming, but unobtrusive, and we very much enjoyed meeting them! We loved everything about this property - the North Shore location, the wonderful facilities, the overall vibe - but the real show stopper is the beautiful property, just steps from a gorgeous beach where we enjoyed sunrises each morning. We can't wait to return. Truly a five star stay!

    Grace2016-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a place that has a secluded outdoorsy feel and is right on the beach, then look no further! J's place is beautiful and the host herself is lovely and welcoming. My man got a massage the last day we stayed and came back looking more relaxed than he had the entire vacation! A truly wonderful experience!!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Gina place. We traveled with our 3 kids and my little brother. The location is ideal. When it says 30 steps from the beach, it's actually 20!!! And the beach is great. The house was great and spacious. I can only say good things about Gina, she was very warm, welcoming and always available. We would do it again!

    Nono2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoy our stay at Gina's home. The house is big enough to accommodate 2 families of four comfortably and with great amenities. The location is literally a few steps to the beach. It is also located near the a grocery store and the Polynesian Cultural Center. The best part of the our stay is Gina. She is a great host. She is friendly, knowledgeable on local tips and addressed our concern immediately.

    Chris2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home and steps to a nice secluded beach . Beach towels, boogie boards, and beach toys provided.

    Chant 2017-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time. The location was great, the beach was wonderful, sandy, clear water and really great for body boarding. The home was nicely decorated, comfortable, and roomy enough for 5 adults and 5 children. Gina the host was warm, friendly and responsive.

    Lynne2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • This staycation was a last minute planning which was an advantage because Gina's home was just listed. Call it great timing!!! Every detail of how the home was promoted and pictures were ON POINT!!! The house was immaculately clean and decorated!!! It was literally on the beach with a shower with hot water right on the lanai. Gina also accommodated us with beach chairs and extra beach towels. I look forward to enjoy this beautiful beach house again!!!

    Leilani2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We made the mistake of not reading the listing thoroughly. It's a shared space in that there are people on the second story of the house. We didn't realize this until we looked out our backdoor and saw three men/boys sitting in our backyard, right by the house. This scared the crap out of my wife! Haha. The other issue was that it was very noisy. The tenants above us were stomping and it went on for hours. Either the sound-proofing isn't good or they were loud. Either way, the noise lasted throughout the trip and was unpleasant for my wife and I. On the bright side, the owner was a very sweet and helpful lady. Her awesomeness is why we went with three stars. With all that said, if your prepared for other guests in the yard, shared parking and noise, it's a great property. Lots of space, awesome kitchen, newly remodeled and so close to the beach! Being able to walk out and swim whenever we wanted was a major plus!

    Jack2017-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • The location was great! Right on the beach. The kitchen was big and spacious. There is a nice yard in the back. Perfect for kids to play in. The outdoor shower with warm water was a life saver with our kids after the beach. Gina was super helpful and friendly! Definitely recommend this place!

This new 2 (now 3) bedroom, 2 bath home is close to Hukilau Beach, the Polynesian Cultural Center, the LDS Temple and BYU-H. You’ll love it because of the proximity to the beach. This is a brand new fully renovated home. It is very comfortable, clean and relaxing with air conditioning in the living room and 3rd bedroom and has brand new comfortable beds. Photos: SimplySmithPhotography.com
The home is very close to Hukilau beach, about a 3 minute walk. The location, street and neighbors are great!
  • Gorgeous, new home in fabulous location! Beautiful beach right across the street where my kids took private surf lessons. Home is well stocked including boogie boards, snorkel equipment and towels. 4 beds worked great with my 3 kids -- no one had to share. Washer/Dryer was really handy. We didn't need to use the A/C - ceiling fans and open windows were enough, but a/c hard to find in such a beautiful rental. Polynesian Cultural Center 3 minutes away, food trucks just up the street, Honolulu just an easy hour away. Great place. I would highly recommend!

    Sue2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Loved Kelly's sense of style and art displayed in her home. Comfortable beds & pillows a must have when traveling.

    Jenny2017-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • You will love this place! It's fully stocked with everything you need for a rainy evening in or a full day at the beach... from a BBQ and charcoal to beach toys, snorkeling gear, body boards and beach towels. There was plenty of room for our two families to hang out. The place is bigger than what it looks like in pictures. It's right down the block from the beach and a cute breakfast spot is right around the corner. A shopping center with Foodland and a few restaurants, the cultural center and Giovanni's shrimp truck were within 2 miles of the house. Kelly was at hand to answer any questions and was great to work with.

    Marie Fe2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great house for the 8 of us, Kelly was very communicative and we thoroughly recommend this wonderful piece of paradise.

    Deborah2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • I would live in this house in a second! It was lovely, comfortable, spacious and a great location. Did I say the house is so cool! The bathrooms are amazing! The beds are comfy, laundry available and AIR CONDITIONING! We loved being close to the north shore. We loved the peace of the area. Our sons walked to the local cafe for breakfast around the corner each morning. But the house was perfect for those of us who like just cereal and a cup of coffee! Everything you need in this beautiful home! Would stay here again!

    Mark2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly is an awesome host, she provides timely responses and was able to answer all our questions. We had a minor issue with the smoke detectors in the home, but she was more than willing to resolve the issue quickly. She stopped by the home to make sure our stay was going well. The neighborhood is amazing, very short walk to a nice, quiet beach, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and shopping. There is also a great café on the way to the beach that you must try (Hukilau Café). Overall this home was very comfortable and very nice. Nice, upgraded amenities and beautiful décor, having AC in the home was also a plus. We would definitely choose this home in this location again. You won't be disappointed, it's nice to be away from the busy, crowded city and to be able to relax in the quiet countryside.

    Myra2016-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • New, clean, spacious, great location, great value, great service, recommend to anyone

    Matthew2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly was very prompt to respond to our initial reservation request. The pictures were very accurate but don't describe how great this place is. During our stay we found out no new building is allowed in the area but this is a new place because it is considered a remodel I guess but residents told us it is new other than probably the foundation which allows it to be deemed a remodel. (Kelly would need to confirm or deny this). Because of this I think this place is a hidden gem for the area. Everything was very nice and completely new. Clean is an understatement. Everything was very bright, clean, and organized in the home. Great to have in-property washing machine and dryer as well. Several beach towels are provided along with two masks and snorkels and two boogie boards. We had a blast using these things at the beach just a couple minutes walk away from Hukelau Beach. After a quiet night sleep we could walk around the corner to a neighborhood breakfast/lunch cafe and eat with some locals. Speaking of locals, several big time football players came out of Kuhuku High School's football team roughly 7-10 minutes away. Football is big here. Go catch a Friday night game and you won't be disappointed. Long's and Foodtown Grocery Stores are close by to stock up when needed. Grab a shave ice at Angels right next to Food Town for a nice treat to cool off. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Hawaiian Temple is 5 minutes walking distance away and so is BYU Hawaii and The Polynesian Cultural Center is about a 3 minute drive away. You're close enough to the North Shore to get to those sites easily and quickly. Grab a Chocolate Haupia Pie at Ted's Bakery when you go by the North Shore or stop in a grab a great lunch at the food truck cafe (several trucks in one spot) across from Shark's Cove. Visit the botanical garden and see the Waimea Water Fall ($16 per person - little pricy for what it is but very pretty). Wear your suit and swim in the pool of the falls. So many hikes close by you need to stay for months to do just a fraction of them. When driving to the North Shore look off the side of the road (ocean side) near Shark's Cove and you may see several people stopping their cars to get out and see a Sea Turtle sun bathing - we saw two in one day. Basically the property is AWESOME and close to so much. When you stay here you'll leave happy no matter what your interests are. Go out and enjoy what the area has to offer then come home and crash in a beautiful home...and repeat as many times as you can! Loved it! Can't go wrong with this place.

We'd love to have you stay in this spacious little apartment on the side of our new house. Complete privacy with an outside entrance and double door. Save money and make some meals in the well-equipped kitchenette. After your day's adventure, come beat the heat with A/C and Wifi and Netflix. Laie is home to the Polynesian Cultural Center, BYU Hawaii, and the Laie LDS temple.
Awesome concrete stain floors, easy to clean, in case you bring some sand in with you. The bathroom is new, clean, and has everything you need. The kitchenette will save you money by eating in sometimes.
Poohaili Street is a quiet residential street in Laie on the Oahu's Famous North Shore. Go right and just down the street is Hukilau Beach. Walk left toward the mountains and you can hike to Laie Falls.
  • Martha is a great host. This apartment was perfect for my stay in Laie. It was clean and had everything I needed - comfortable bed, kitchenette and bathroom.

    Shauna2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place! I love that there was AC. The hosts were very helpful. They even helped me fix a flat on my tire.

    Brad2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was clean and looked pretty new. Super comfortable bed and nice big TV. I liked the private side entrance, fan and ac wall unit. Shampoo/conditioner, soap, dishwashing detergent, toaster, microwave, and dishes were provided. We could sometimes hear muffled talking and moving around through the wall but that didn't bother us. It was a nice, peaceful place to stay and a great launch point for Laie and North shore adventuring!

    Jennifer2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed my stay at Martha's place. The location was convenient to the beach, LDS temple and BYUBYU-H.

    Carrie2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was located 5 minutes of walk from the beach front while the major grocery store Foodland, Brigham Young University-Hawaii and Polynesia Culture Center were a couple of minutes away by driving. The location was perfect for my visit, which was also the very reason I chose it, as my activities during these few days mostly took place in the neighboring area. Since accommodation in Hawaii is super expensive, I think Martha's apartments is a great deal. Also, when we needed some detergent and other things, Martha was very helpful and prompt in providing what we needed. She even left us a rice cooker the very next day after we have checked in. It was very thoughtful of her!

    Ling2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • I had a blast staying in Martha's unit below the main house. If I had to say, anything it's the walls are thin and attached to the unit so noise can be a bit loud from doors or cabinets opening. I had no problems as I was out most of the time. Its a few blocks to a nice little beach and close to anything you need. It has a sink in bathroom but no sink in the small kitchenette no big deal we just had snacks. Definetly a great value for a one person or couple looking to relax in Oahu. Plus Martha is totally cool and so are her kids. Thanks once again Martha aloha.

Laie has beautiful beaches, the Polynesian Cultural Center, BYU-Hawaii, the LDS Temple, friendly people and good food!
  • Kelly and her family were amazing hosts. She was very friendly and always available for questions. Great property and location. Very clean with easy beach access. Secure and safe for families. We can't wait to visit again.

    Jonathan2016-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience! The house was just as nice as described if not nicer! Very nice location as well, the paddle boards were a great addition. I would definitely recommend staying here and would love to go back in the future!

    Sydney2015-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • (URL HIDDEN)We decided to go with Kelly's home because of all the amenities and we didn't want to be around to many tourists. The room/suite was exactly as posted. The space was generous, and completely equipped with everything you could ever need. There was even extra shampoo, conditioner, beach towels, razor, shaving cream, beach chairs, snorkel gear, plates, cups, rice cooker, the list goes on(URL HIDDEN) You can really get comfortable in this space and we sure did. Another perk was having the Hukilau beach RIGHT across the street. It is not as crowded as the other beaches so it was nice to walk across the street and read a book, take a dip, soak up some sun first thing in the morning(URL HIDDEN)Since it is not right in the thick of things finding places to eat and drink nearby was a little difficult. The sun also sets on the other side of the mountain so when the sun starts to set, it happens quickly. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would love to go back.

    Lyna2015-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great about this place! Clean, neat, quiet and very private. It was better than explained and we loved being so close to the beach! We loved having the outside shower after being on the beach all day. (I hope it was ok we used it?). Thanks for letting us use the boogie boards as well. Our opinion this was the best area of the island because of the laid back, relaxing atmosphere. The place is really close to PCC, grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants, and gas station.

    Brandon2015-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly and her family were very welcoming. She even provided many little "extras" (beach chairs, blow dryer, extra towels, apple tv, etc.) We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it to others visiting North Shore.

    Aileen2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jelly was a wonderful host! If you want a Hawaiian stay away from the crowds and people of Honolulu, this place is perfect!

  • We had such a great time. Perfect for our stay on Oahu. The beach across from the house is tons of fun for playing in the waves, boogie boarding and enjoying the sun. The outdoor hot shower is so convenient. Kelly was a great host. Everything you could need in the room was provided along with beach chairs, snorkel gear and boogie boards.

  • Great place to stay outside the Polynesian Cultural Center and close to many North Shore attractions. Live like a local, house is basic and clean. Melissa was a great host and had good communication with us.

  • Had an excellent stay. It's a great spot to stay at if you want to spend a few days exploring the North shore and or the Polynesian Cultural Center. Would definitely recommend Melissa's place to anyone.

    Chris2016-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • The host was very helpful and made sure the accommodations were ready when we arrived. Very clean and nice place close to all the places we needed to be. Felt very comfortable in the neighborhood. We were busy with all we had to do and the place worked out great. When the kids wanted to go to the beach the host was ever so kind to offer us the use of their beach and surfing equipment. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and it sure makes it all that much better when you feel as if you're at home but better because you're in Hawaii. If you want to be in Laie and on the North Shore area this is one place you should consider.

    Bryan2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! All of the activities of the laid-back side of Oahu are so close. Hukilau Beach is a short stroll away. Laie Temple, BYU-H, restaurants and food trucks are just blocks away. And the Polynesian Cultural Center allows you to use your ticket for three days, so we went home to rest and then back - over and over. All the stuff you need is right there in the house: toiletries, beach towels, boogie boards, water shoes, cooler and ice packs, etc. Full Kitchen has rice cooker, crockpot, toaster oven, microwave for quick meals. Great Family, helped when we needed anything - we would stay again!

    Steve2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great week at Melissa's place! Check in was super easy - we were in the house and settling in with in minutes of arriving. We had 2 adults and 3 young adults and accommodations were perfect. Melissa provides beach towels and a bunch of beach stuff like umbrellas, beach mats and small beach boards. She also has a cooler with some ice blocks in the freezer - which was so helpful to have access to when traveling around the island. All the things you need but don't want to buy. The kitchen has everything you need for your family - we ate in several times. The house is just off the main road, but we never heard the traffic noise. The neighborhood is quiet and family friendly. And the north shore area was great - the beaches are very accessible and enjoyable. Melissa and her family were so friendly and talked when we wanted to and left us alone when we wanted to - so we never felt like we were being bothered or that we were intruding on their living space. She was always available to answer our questions when needed as well. When we go back, we will check back with them!

  • We loved our stay at Melissa's place. It's so much nicer than the picture looks! Very clean with a nice touch of decor. So glad we stayed on the North Shore. It was a short walk to the beach and a close drive to our favorite beaches. We loved being within a short walk of the Laie temple/Visitors Center and the Polynesian Cultural Center.

    Melinda2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time to use Air B&B. We had a great time at Melissa's place. It was nice that Melissa, her husband and children were welcoming us when we checked in. We had our family who live in Honolulu visiting us during our stay and it was fantastic to have extra beds and parking spots. Kids also enjoyed using their body board and scooters.

  • Wonderful beach access and accommodating amazing people as hosts. Only criticism the sleeping quarters are upstairs and close to main highway which you hear more clearly then sleeping downstairs or towards the back of the property.

  • This rental was perfect for our vacation. We wanted something away from all the tourists action and super close to the beach. The views were amazing. We loved being able to go to the beach as soon as we woke up until the sun went down. They provided us with a playpen for our baby. They have chairs, towels, boogie boards for use. It truly met all of our needs for our vacation.

    Tiffany2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our favorite part was the private beach access. It was so close! We went out several times a day. Robyn was easy to work with and advertised the place accurately. It was perfect for our trip.

  • We loved being so close to the activities on the North Shore.

  • Our host met us upon arrival and made us feel very welcome. The location was great and the accommodations were clean with plenty of space.

    Roberta2016-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A great location on the island. Robyn is very hospitable and the apartment is clean and comfortable. The ocean/beach are quiet, beautiful, and right out from the backyard. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hukilau Beach Apartment in Laie. Thank you, Robyn & family!

  • We had a great stay in this beautiful location. Any concerns we had were addressed quickly. Have already recommended it to some friends, and hope to return with some of my family. Thanks, Ned, for your help with our luggage. Our biggest problem was getting through the Airbnb process, and Robyn was great to assure me that she would reserve the dates that we needed while working things out with Airbnb to get the reservation confirmed. I appreciated the peace of mind this gave me as I was trying to coordinate plane reservations. Mahalo

    Hukilau Beach Apartment
    17 reviews
This 2 bedroom/ 2 bath beach condo is a second story unit, directly across the street from Hukilau Beach Park. Eat on the covered lanai with dining table and chairs, and enjoy the ocean breeze while watching the waves roll in.
Completely renovated in 2014, this lovely condo has a modern kitchen with everything needed to cook family meals. Dining table in the kitchen and on the lanai. Each bedroom has a queen bed, and the larger room has a set of bunk beds as well. Living room couch is a pull out double bed. Full bathroom off the living room with a stall shower. Full bath in the larger bedroom with shower over tub. Laundry room is on the back of the building in front of you, coin op, $1.50 per load. Out door shower next to the laundry room for after beach rinse.
This property is on the main road around the island. The building is set back from the road with another building in front, to the right of it so you still have the ocean view. There is a large grassy meadow that connects to the property with a walking path for your morning exercise.
  • This was the perfect beach escape for two couples near the North Shore. Marci left very helpful instructions and the house was just as described. We enjoyed using the beach and also the cooking facilities for a couple of great dinners on the front deck. The house is a short drive from the Polynesian Cultural Center, local food trucks and some of the best beaches in Hawaii. We would strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet beach escape.

    Cora2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Marci's place was just as described. We were traveling with 7 adults and every one of us loved it. It is right across the street from a beach that is pretty secluded. We watched the sunset every night there. She provides plenty of towels so that was a plus. Thanks again! We will definitely be back!

    Jim2017-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Marci's place was great. We really enjoyed ourselves. There was plenty of room for all of us and the location was perfect. Beautiful Hukilau Beach is right across the street and Foodland is just up the road. The unit came with everything we needed. We would rent it again.

  • Our stay here was great there are a few things that beed to be fixed, but overall we had a blast!! Perfect location near Laie Point and PCC. Location is close enough to make your way to the key spots. The beach is right across the Hwy!!

    Manuel2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Hukilau Beach right across the street. Marci supplies beach towels, which is a great plus.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights. The house is across the street from a public (and less occupied) beach which makes it an amazing location in Laie! Laie is about an hour and a half from Honolulu/Waikiki but close to the North Shore. The place had bedding for at least 6 and plenty of towels-- including beach towels. Do bring shampoo/conditioner though. Very close to BYU campus and Polynesia Cultural Center, but some places nearby closed on Sunday.

You’ll love my place because of proximity to the beach. This home is an easy 3 min walk to Hukilau Beach, 1 mile from the Polynesian Cultural Center, steps from the LDS Temple and BYU-H. This is a brand new fully renovated comfortable, clean and relaxing home equipped with A/C in the living room and brand new comfortable beds.
The home is a 3 min walk to Hukilau Beach, one of our favorites. The location, street and neighbors are great. Along with beautiful beaches, Laie has a grocery store, restaurants, quaint movie theater, and other conveniences less than a mile away.
  • This was an excellent rental and I would absolutely rent Kelly's place again! The house is spacious, well-kept, clean, and had all of the amenities you could hope for. The kitchen was adequately stocked with cooking materials for meals at the house and all of the bathrooms and bedrooms were clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need. One thing that really surprised me was how comfortable the beds were - a rarity anywhere but especially welcome after long days of hiking and swimming! We also really loved the location. It's a 2 minute walk to the Hukilau Cafe (a cute little diner), a 5-minute walk to Hukilau beach (great local beach!), and a 5-minute drive to the grocery store. To get to an eccentric and delicious group of foodtrucks is about a 15 minute drive, and a ton of beautiful beaches (Sunset Beach) are within 25-35 minutes in either direction. Not only that, it's a 10 minute walk to the La'ie Falls Trailhead and between 30-60 minute drive to basically any other beach, trail, or park you could ever want to visit during your time on Oahu. Before we arrived, Kelly was very patient and helpful. She answered our questions about things to do, best places to eat, and what to expect out of the weather in the winter. She was accommodating at every turn and was always very quick to respond to any questions or comments. One thing I will note about anyone planning a trip to Oahu: the island is not set up to be particularly walkable, so you'll need to plan your activities around where you intend to spend your days. Kelly's house is located on the northern side of the island, which is quieter and more residential than the southern, touristy side. We preferred this, but if you're looking to spend most of your time around Waikiki, expect to spend an hour driving there (and back). With all of the great stuff on the north side of the island, though, why leave? ;)

  • We really liked this home. It was beautifully designed and soooo clean. Just really spacious living area and rooms. The AC was only in the main living room but worked so good, it carried down the halls adequately to the bedrooms however doors needed to be open. Not a big deal they had plenty of fans too. Great amenities like bbq and boogie boards and snorkel sets even a cooler and a beach umbrella. Laundry was really nice to have too! Quiet spot in Laei for sure. Would go back for sure. Kelly was a gracious host , willing to help us on our adventures and accomodate our schedules. Aloha will be felt in this home!

    Jeremy 2017-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Kelly's house. The pictures and descriptions of the place were accurate and we were very happy with the house. It was clean and tastefully decorated, with plenty of room for our two families. The neighborhood was quiet, and a nice change of pace from the busy tourist area of Waikiki. Kelly was a great host and very responsive to a few questions we had. We would love to stay at the house again if we get another chance to visit Oahu in the future.

    Martin2016-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Kelly's home, she's very attentive and welcoming. If my husband and I decide to be back on Oahu, we would love to stay there again. We had four teenagers with us so it was wonderful to be close to the shore and to shopping for food. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay, thanks to Kelly and her husband.

    Jaleh2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house was more than expected, clean with many amenities and our kids loved that we could walk to the beach. My wife and I stayed with Kelly for our wedding and she had gave us a home during our stay that made our trip that much more enjoyable.

    Marc2016-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This home was the perfect "home away from home." Our host had clean towels and linens available. We were traveling with an infant and it was nice that there was a portable crib/playpen for her. We enjoyed grilling under the gazebo in the back yard and the fact that there were small appliances such as a rice pot, blender, and coffee pot available for us to use. There were also boogie-boards, folding chairs, beach towels, and snorkel gear available. It was so nice to use them at the beach--just a five minute walk down the street! There were a few toiletries, such as shampoo, conditioner, and soap just in case you forgot to pack them. Also we were happy to have a washer and dryer to use during our stay-- very nice. This home is very clean, and so nicely decorated. Overall, we would rate this two thumbs up and gladly stay here again if we get the chance!

    Nani2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve traveled to Oahu many times before and have enjoyed most of what the island has had to offer tourist. But we really wanted to feel the local aspect of Hawaii and get away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and what most of the south of island gives its visitors. Kelly’s home in La’ie was absolutely perfect for this. La’ie is a small northern town in Oahu and getting there can be quite the trek but my wife noticed that the drive wasn’t too bad because there was so much sight seeing to be done along the way. From Kelly’s home you could spend a 45 minute drive and visit the beautiful North Shore beaches along your way to the Dole Plantation in one direction. And a 15 minute drive in the other direction you could reach Kualoa Ranch and keep going another hour to get to Diamond Head. We were booked into the “B” side of Kelly’s beautiful home. Let me tell you this now, the pictures on Kelly’s Air BnB profile do not do this home any justice. When we first walked in, immediately we felt like we were home. It felt so inviting, so cozy, so comfortable. You could tell that Kelly put a lot of thought into making this home perfect for renting. We are only a married couple with a two year old toddler, but this home can easily fit a family of 8. It’s situated in a lovely neighborhood. The Polynesian Cultural Center is a 20 minute walk Or a 5 minute drive from the home. The Foodland grocery store (which we frequented for Poke and other delicious snacks) is just down the street. But our favorite locale was Hukilau beach, literally a 2 minute walk down the street. So close to the house and so far away from the tourist scene we felt like a local going there everyday. The beautiful kitchen has stainless steel appliances and was stocked with utensils in case we wanted to stay in and cook a home cooked meal. The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths. The only room with A/C was the living room, but each room has a fan. And if you were inclined to, opening the windows at night provided enough cool air. The home is quipped with WiFi. The living room tv was equipped with Roku and my son utilized the Netflix day in and day out. The house also has a laundry room located outside. Again, this BEAUTIFUL home had everything we needed inside of it to make us feel like we never left the comforts of our own home back on the mainland. And this home was close enough to everything we wanted to see away from the bustling tourist town that Waikiki has become. If you’re looking for a “home away from home” feel far far away from the tourist scene and well into the beauty that Oahu has to offer, then Kelly’s home in La’ie is...

  • Kelly's house could not be better and Kelly could not be a more perfect host! The house itself is clean, spacious, and well-stocked with the essentials. We stayed there with our baby and another couple with their baby. The location is fantastic, just a couple minutes walk to a nearby, quiet beach with shady spots for the babies. Kelly was incredibly accommodating and helpful without being intrusive in any way. Check-in and check out were incredibly easy, which was a nice convenience. Would definitely stay here again. We are so happy with our experience and can't say enough good stuff!

Private, restful, cozy apartment in a beach house on the north shore of Oahu. Large sandy backyard with private beach access. The vibe is a serene, simple and arty, rustic northern California feel, a perfect zen retreat, surrounded by ironwoods, lilies and palms.
The apartment is the entire bottom floor of a rustic beach house. Private fully furnished approx 800sq ft, large L-shaped open floorplan. California King bed, and queen sofa/daybed in the lanai. Sunny and serene lanai, completely enclosed, all windows to the ocean. Small writing desk. Private entry. Just out your door is a huge expanse of sand and seagrapes and palms, with hammock, a fire-pit, and a beachside hangout zone, on a dune full of seabird nests. Spacious bathroom has sink, toilet and shower and two large mirrors. Original art & photography adorn the space. The ocean sound evokes an atmosphere of reflection and contemplation. Walk and swim the one mile long bay at sunrise and sunset, and you may see another person or two, but then again, you may not... We share this land with natural wildlife. Hens and roosters freely roam the grounds, and provide an early morning wakeup call. (Earplugs provided if you need!). A family of regal peacocks usually pay a weekly visit. Brightly colored geckos can be found wandering around in the house (and they love being fed bananas). Rare (& endangered) Shearwaters nest here from Mar - Oct. This unique beachhouse was custom designed & built in the late 60's, and is rustic and sea-worn. While it has tons of charm & character, if you are looking for something more sterile clean & modern, this may not be the right spot for you!
    • Goat Island - bird sanctuary (beach stroll) You can walk to the island at low tide. • Running/Walking/Bike Path (2 min) • Malaekahana State Recreation Area (2 min) • Gunstock Ranch - Horseback riding (3 min) • Food Trucks (korean bbq, thai, mexican, etc) ( 5 min) • BYU ( 5 min) • Shopping plaza with Groceries, Hardware Store, Movie Theater, etc. (5 min) • Polynesian Cultural Center (7 min) • Kahuku Farms (7 min) • Famous Kahuku Shrimp Trucks (7 min) • Turtle Bay Resort (10 min) • N Shore surf breaks, Sunset Beach, Waimea (10-15min) • Haleiwa - a very cute surf / hippy town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and sights to explore. (20-25 min) • Honolulu & Waikiki (50-60 min)
  • This was an amazing property on a beautiful beach, and plenty of privacy. We had a great, quiet week of relaxation. The bonfires were perfect, as were the sunrise views. It is a great place to stay, and I highly recommend it for anybody who wants some peace and quiet in paradise. Also, access to food, restaurants and hiking are all super easy. Great place!

    Neal2015-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • We are a family of four from Montana who were seeking an alternative to the hotel experience. Michael and Erica were extremely kind and gracious hosts, with prompt communications. We would recommend this spot to the traveller who appreciates feeling connected to the outdoors and wants to experience the islanders' Hawaii. If the Hawaiian geckos, shearwaters and roosters are not your cup of tea, this is not the place for you as they do share this space, and may remind you of that in the early morning. If you want a sterile environment or a lot of night light and life, you will want a hotel on Waikiki. But if you would like to feel like you are staying at a friend's peaceful house on the beach, appreciate hearing the ocean 24/7 without human noise, want access to an undeveloped beach whenever you please, or simply enjoy the occasional campfire under the stars, then this may be just the place for you.

    Caroline2014-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our flight to Honolulu landed a bit late and we had some trouble finding the place at night but Michael waited outside at close to midnight with a flashlight to help us find the place. The location is great and you literally have the beach in your backyard. The potential downside is you are literally staying in the woods by the beach (as the location description clearly states) and if you're a light sleeper, you will have trouble sleeping with the chickens and cats yelling in the middle of the night along. I loved the place but my wife had to leave after two nights even though we reserved it for four. She had trouble sleeping and was bitten 22 times by mosquitoes (we counted the bites!). I think our stay was particularly humid and so the bugs were out in full force, but just be aware that you're roughing it. Definitely not for everyone but if you have the right mindset/attitude, this could be the perfect place for you.

    Kevin2015-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Michaels place was perfect with the beach right there and the quote atmosphere. The roosters woke us up early but it was perfect to help get our day started early. Loved falling asleep to the waves each night.

    Emily2016-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • I feel so fortunate to have chanced into this blissful beachcomber hideaway, tucked away in the trees yet right on the sand of a pristine, largely deserted swimming beach! Though a bit rustic to some, Michael (who was my very helpful contact) and Erica had foreseen my every need, such as stashing flashlights by the door, stocking reusable shopping bags, and providing whimsical nostalgic touches ( I liked the bright-colored little square melamine plates) that are sure to delight any bohemian want-to-be. Plenty of hot water and a coffee maker are all the creature-comforts I really need, but with a bed that was sink-in sublime and the soothing soundtrack of the waves, it's hard to imagine a more relaxing Hawaiian stay!

    Alice2015-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Listing is accurate, make sure you read it an set expectations!

    Muntek2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Unbeatable beach-front property with 100% operational fire pit and hammock technology. The wonderful view is matched only by the graciousness of the hosts. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a 'back to basics' elemental experience on the north shore.

    Robert2014-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house was beautiful, the beach was beautiful, our hosts were very chill and accommodating, everything was pretty dead on as described. There's nothing bad I can say about my experience we had a great time and I'd stay again in a heartbeat.

2 bedroom/ one bath with large full kitchen and dining table for 6. Hukilau Beach Park directly across the street, less than a one minute walk from your doorstep to the waters edge. This is a long sand beach that is clean and not crowded. Swim, boogie board, or walk across the reef to explore Goat Island. Close to activities: Laie Falls trail head, Polynesian Cultural Center, Zip line and Gunstock Ranch (horse back riding)! Several dining options close by, shopping center, and lots of sunshine.
Sit out on the covered porch and enjoy the ocean view and the cool breeze in the evening. One side of a duplex, each bedroom has a queen bed and the larger room has a set of bunk beds as well. Both sides of the duplex are vacation units. Hukilau Beach is a great beach for swimming, snorkeling, boogie boarding, kite surfing, and jogging.
This property faces Kamehameha Hwy, one lane each direction, and can easily be crossed with care. Speed limit is 25mph. Quiet neighbors on one side and behind, meadow on the other side. We bought this property because of the large open space and feeling of privacy even though there are no fences on 2 sides. The meadow is an extension of the property and offers a feeling of spacious country living. When it rains a small pond forms on the far side of the meadow and beautiful white birds come and feed in the grass. The corporation that owns the land keeps it mowed and neat like a big lawn.
  • Great location. Amazing beach right across the street with the best waves for boogie boarding. Also very clean with comfortable beds. Would highly recommend.

  • This house is a great place to stay, close to the beach and supermarket. The road just outside makes quite some noise which can be a bit disturbing at night. Super easy to find and Marci is a really helpful host.

    Robin2016-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay at one of Marci's properties. The house is across the street from a public (and less occupied) beach which makes it an amazing location in Laie! Laie is about an hour and a half from Honolulu/Waikiki but close to the North Shore. The place had bedding for at least 4 very comfortably. 6 would be a bit more cramped but doable. There were plenty of towels-- including beach towels. Do bring shampoo/conditioner though. Very close to BYU campus and Polynesia Cultural Center. Most places nearby are closed on Sunday. Definitely a great place to stay in the area. Marci is a great host!

    Christopher2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great location on the North Shore. Marci's communication with us before our stay was amazing. This unit is the bigger of the two units rented in the same home. The only drawbacks was the old kitchen equipment (i.e. one stove burner was not working and old scratched pots and pans) and the parking st times. While you do have a dedicated spot, many nights went by where there was someone in the spot. Other then that, I would recommend booking here for a great vacation.

    Paul2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • All in all a great place to stay. Central to stores and right across from the beach. Traffic is busy, but otherwise a great vacation rental.

    Lauren2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house was beautiful and very clean. It was right in town and walking distance to the beach. The only downside was the busy highway it was on. The traffic was loud while trying to sleep.

  • This place was great! It was big enough for four of us, and was in a good location- about 15 minutes away from Haleiwa and right across Hukilau beach. It was easy to access and check in, and had everything we needed

  • Marci was a great host. The description was very accurate and the view was more beautiful in person. Communication was very timely and the amenities were excellent. I would highly recommend this location and host!

Description Our country beach house is located on the Island of Oahu approximately one hour from Honolulu and the Airport. The house is a six-bedroom, four-bath, two-story home on an acre beach lot with an outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking the ocean and an all sport court (paddle tennis, basketball, and badminton) in a fenced compound. Each floor has a master bedroom overlooking the ocean and there is a full kitchen on each floor so it is designed to accommodate two families. The bathrooms have just completed remodeling (February 2010). There is a massage deck and hammock hidden in a tree-covered area for privacy and it is only yards from the beach. There is also an outdoor dining area that seats 10 under the trees for that perfect BBQ. There are beautiful views of the ocean from the wrap-around decks. It is literally one of the most beautiful protected bays in the Islands. Many of the older families in Honolulu have their private beach homes on this bay. The house is a quiet, upscale property which is popular with local artists, writers, etc. * Rates and seasons may vary by season TAT: W(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)

  • This was an amazing place and an amazing experience on the island. Perfect home for a large family to meet and mingle with all the things we could have asked for. Every amenity you would think you may need would soon easily be found. Toiletries, towels for indoor and outdoor activities, games, well stocked kitchen gadgets, a grill, and anything else you needed were all at our fingertips. Very close grocery store, and great shrimp truck and food trucks as well as a great farm with wonderful smoothies and panini's are all within a few miles. The view can not be beat, the stretch of ocean is amazing, and this is one of the rare experiences were the property is so much better in person than in the photos (and they are great photos)! You will not be disappointed!!
