Nature Preserve
“Hamilton's Pool Nature Preserve is a true natural wonder of the Texas Hill Country. What makes this place special is the 50-foot waterfall that flows from concave limestone cliffs into the pool below. Reservations are required and usually book up fast so it is best to plan ahead. Keep in mind that the hiking trail to the pool is a quarter-mile and is steep and rugged with uneven steps and takes about 30 minutes to get there. Hamilton Pool also does not allow pets, fires, fishing, camping or biking in the park. 32-minute drive - 17.6 miles away 24300 Hamilton Pool Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620”

Other Great Outdoors
“Hamilton Pool gets all the press, but we love this place. Started by a rancher many years ago, it is a serene spring of constant temperature on the family ranchland. You pay per person and sign a waiver, and enter into an almost Tropical feeling wonderland! The spring runs into a big handmade rock pool, then out the other end, and over a cliff, creating a waterfall that lands in the pond below. Climb down a set of ancient iron stairs to the pond and swim into a small cave under the waterfall, or lie on the rocks in the sun. It's never as crowded (yet) as other places, and we just love the old school feeling there!”

“At this smokehouse, what you see is what you get. The giant pit that greets you when you enter is holding succulent, fatty, and delightfully seasoned brisket. Or perhaps it’s the enormous pork chops, jalapeno sausage, or the tender ribs that are calling to you. Whatever you order, pick up a few sides to go with it: a heaping serving of spicy corn, tater-tot casserole, and the off-menu Coca Cola cake.”

“Right down the road from Hamilton's Pool is Reimers Ranch Park. This beautiful park is known for being a great spot for rock climbing, mountain biking, fishing, and hiking. Reimers Ranch has almost 3 miles of Pedernales River frontage, deep canyons and panoramic views of the Texas Hill Country. Plus, Reimers Ranch is usually less crowded than Hamilton's Pool so if you're looking to avoid the crowds this is a great alternative. Join them on Saturday mornings for a guided tour of this 2,427-acre park, or visit on the first Saturday of the month for monthly bird walks during October through April. 28-minute drive - 16.5 miles away 23610 Hamilton Pool Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620”

“At Sweet Berry Farm in Marble Falls, Texas you can pick fresh strawberries, blackberries, and peaches to take home. There are other fun kid's activities going on, such as painting flower pots, finding your way through the Texas Maze, and sand art. There is no entrance fee, and you pay by the box for the berries you pick. Check their website or Facebook page for updates on opening and closing hours and the best days to go out there and get lots of ripe berries. They also have a gift shop with lots of items made from their fresh berries. Fun for the whole family! ”
