Waterfall
“20 minutes drive and a steep 30 minute walk to base of the waterfall, then another 30 minutes to the top.Requires good boots and a good level of fitness.Has become very popular so gets very busy. Te Aroha mountain gold mining walking is a quieter option another 20 minutes further away.”

“This is an amazing walk for the more active that is just a short drive from Okauia House. It takes about 1.5 hours to reach the top but you will be rewarded by the most breathtaking views of the Waikato and being at the too of one of the longest waterfalls in NZ.”

“There was an Auckland businessman Josiah Firth who in 1882 decided to build Firth Tower. An 18 metre concrete Tower was very fashionable then- a symbol of hi status. Now its full of Mairo and pioneer artefacts. Open 10-4pm thursday to Monday”

“we are a bit lucky to boast that the Kaimai cheese cafe and restaurant is only 3 minutes down the road, and they really do make "top shelf" specialty cheeses , "natural". A replica building of an old 1920 Butter Factory, with trusses and roof vents from the original butter factory used in the building, its a beautiful setting. So head on down there to have a lovely hot chocolate in an old butter factory. Order the cheese platter which shows off all their cheeses.. Its the perfect spot for pit stop!!!!”

“Wairere Falls, the highest waterfall in New Zealand's North Island, plunges 153 metres (500 feet) in two steps over the Kaimai escarpment. The Wairere Falls are set amongst the beautiful bush of the Kaimai Ranges. The two sections of the walk through groves of native trees provide spectacular views of the falls and the district. Walking time 1.5 hours, can be a little muddy if wet and a medium level of fitness required.....but well worth the walk.”
