Just booked in Mindoro

We are on The Mighty Mississippi River. Your backyard. You can sit on your porch, shade deck, sun deck or walk out on to the dock and enjoy your morning brew. In the evening you can sit out on the dock and a beautiful sunset. Eagles are visitors to the area, as well as Great Blue Herons, river otters, muskrats, and a few varieties of ducks. This is truly a place for those who love to be on water.
There are two bedrooms with brand new beds and cozy new bedding. The master has a queen size bed and the second room has two twin beds. There is a new pack n play for infants to 30 pounds. The living room has a large flat screened TV (with cable), a gas fireplace, and a couch with a fold out queen size bed, so you can sleep up to 6. You have one full bath with a shower. There is a full kitchen with an eating area and also an island with two stools. The kitchen has everything you need, including a dishwasher. To understand what makes this place unique, all you have to do is look out your living room window or walk out your door and turn left. The Mississippi River is your backyard. You have a private screened in porch and shade deck. There is also a sun deck and a shady beach to enjoy. The dock is new this year. We added a pergola for a bit of shade.
When you drive onto the island you won't realize that behind all those homes is a respite from the real world. Once you settle in you have no reason to go off looking for beauty unless you want to. The island is interesting in that there are newer homes, and older homes and across the street there is a nursing home But, the Mississippi River is your backyard and every day it is different. You might see eagles catching fish or Great blue herons standing on the dock. Lately we have had visits by two otters. There are great places to eat, lots of biking trails, several parks, a ski hill, antique stores, and so much more.
  • Amazing spot right on the Mississippi. Great backyard with multiple seating areas. Perfect for a quiet weekend or a large family get together!

  • We had a lovely time here for a girls away weekend. Kirsten was very friendly and Pat was a hoot! There were six of us and so it was a tight fit, but it seemed to work. We all had a comfy bed. We even were able to make a couple of full meals. The kitchen worked great. It has everything you need. It was a frigid cold weekend, so we spent a lot of time indoors in great comfort. We are certainly considering coming back next year, but we might try to pick a weekend a little earlier in the year.

    Jane2014-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • My whole family was in Lacrosse for a wedding and Kirsten was very accommodating in allowing all of us to hang out at her home in between wedding events. Her husband Pat even provided fishing tips for us, and Kirsten was very thoughtful to ask us what we liked in the morning and then left milk and juice in the fridge for us. The unit itself is homey and well cared for.

  • What a great place to meet friends for a mini vacation. We relaxed, ate too much, laughed a lot, sat on the dock, played our board games, watched the birds, listened to the sounds of nature and river life around us. Kirsten and Pat have mastered the skill of balancing privacy and accessibility when needed. They gave us great suggestions for exploring the La Crosse area...and explore we (URL HIDDEN) car to the bluffs, by bike to the marshes, trails and parks and (URL HIDDEN) boat to see and hear the baby eagles. Thanks for that treat, Kris and Pat. The accommodations were clean, convenient and comfortable. It's quite easy to recommend this as a fine vacation location.

  • Very nicely equipped apartment on the water. We didn't get a chance to use the canoe and the sauna but would have very much liked to if we had more time! The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans to cook, and more than enough plates and glassware. Extra sheets, blankets, and towels were provided for a very comfortable stay. We will be back!

    Lance2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kirsten and Pat are great hosts and the apartment was better then advertised. My family felt like we were at home while in town for my sister's graduation. The apartment is a great condition, very clean, and comfortable. Both Kirsten and Pat were very out going, friendly, and helpful with local recommendations. I highly recommend booking their apartment!

    Joe2015-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts were wonderful, even if the weather didn't decide to work with us. Everything we could possibly want was provided, a fully stocked kitchen, wonderful beds and a bench in front of the large window our dog enjoyed sitting on to watch the squirrels and birds outside. We didn't get a chance to use the sauna and our fire was interrupted by rain but between our own boardgames and those that were already there we had a wonderful couple days and even extended our stay - painless to do - by another day. We would happily stay again another time!

    Sarah2016-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • My brother, sister and I brought our father to LaCrosse for a present. Kirsten's place worked out perfectly for spending a couple of days. We spent many hours on the porch and besides being relaxing, the view is picturesque. We did some cooking and the kitchen had everything we needed, plus a convenient eating area. The living room was delightful with a great television. All of the beds were comfortable. We didn't take advantage of all the other amenities that were offer due to weather. We would definitely go back.

Award winning, licensed and inspected Bed and Breakfast. Well located working hobby farm. Close to bike trails, Mississippi River, wineries, breweries, Amish community, and restaurants. Milk a goat, collect eggs, or just relax! Free WiFi is available. www.RainbowRidgeFarms.com
We are a 35 acre working farm. We milk approximately 25 dairy goats twice a day in season, collect eggs from our chickens, and garden. There is a large pond and fire pit. Kids love to play in the fairy house too.
We are on a beautiful farm just 15 minutes from downtown La Crosse. You get the peacefulness of the country but you are close to all amenities!
  • This was a wonderful place. I loved seeing all the baby goats (including some newly born the weekend we were there). There is also a dog in love with a pig, mini donkeys, multiple sheep, llamas (which apparently protect the goat and sheep herd), a cow, a duck who thinks it is a guinea hen, and various ducks, chicken, turkeys and other birds. The goats and sheep will trek after you as you climb up the pasture to a quirky, side-ways growing tree - and when you look down the hill (while sitting in the easy to climb tree), the view is wonderful. The hosts are quite warm and genuine, and thoroughly enjoy sharing their farm with others. We fully plan to return here with our daughter sometime - this place is great for adults, but it is utter heaven to children, who can run around, pet numerous animals (who are all very used to children, thanks to 4H projects on the farm), and even learn some farm chores if they so choose. Wonderful, unique place!

  • Great hosts, great experience! Homemade breakfast and a morning walk with the animals is a great start to the day.

  • This was a really convenient spot. Sue made some really delicious brownies. The cabin is home made by her partner (D.W.) Our kids loved it. He even offered to take the kids on a horse drawn carriage ride (unfortunately we had to leave early). Really geat people. Highly recommend this place.

    ken2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and DW are wonderfully hospitable. They keep the cabin immaculate, which is spartan but very cozy.

    Matthew & Creal2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and DW are some of the nice people you'll ever meet! The cabin was just as we expected...rustic, but with great amenities. DW gave us some great tips on where to pick up food and other needs close by and was very good about showing us where everything was in the cabin. The fridge had bottles of water stocked for us (which was fantastic, considering it was about 95 degrees when we were there) and Sue had left out some of her delicious apple bread! The only things we saw as a disappointment were the interstate being very nearby and noisy, the hill you have to climb to get to the cabin (be aware of this...if you have physical limitations this may not be the place for you) and the slight lack of view from the deck (trees block you out). All in all, this was a great spot for us while visiting locally, and I'd highly suggest it for people that are going to be out and about during the day enjoying the local sites!

    Adam2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and DW were wonderful hosts! The cabin was rustic and cozy, and they made a fire for us on a cool night. Sue even had homemade banana bread waiting for us! The place has a lot of rustic charm and has beautiful views of the Wisconsin countryside. I would definitely recommend this to others!

    Maria2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and quaint! Would definitely stay here again. Both Doug and Sue were very helpful!

  • Sue and DW have the kindest hearts and the greatest space! Our cabin was handbuilt by DW, and we loved seeing his craftsmanship along with our fun and cozy experience. Two thumbs up!

I am close to LaCrosse Wisconsin and minutes from the Mississippi River, lakes, hiking, etc. Close to mall and shopping... a nice quiet condo neighborhood. When you book just a room you have access to an entire floor to yourself with private bath and living room. Shared kitchen. We are easy going and travel for work but always respond to messages.
Quite neighborhood... a nice clean new condo... you can use our kitchen and laundry if needed..... really perfect place for a single or couple passing thru or needing a place to sleep.... but can work for family as well...everything is gorgeous and clean! We love having guests
Quiet street of condos... within a mile or less to grocery, shopping, parks, trails, river, restaurants, etc. Quiet private neighbors
  • Gerri was an excellent hostess, very accommodating and friendly. Loved the space!

  • Great host! Nice spacious area in lower level, with bedroom, separate sitting room (and second bed), and private bath. Nice coffee and treats. Wonderful spot and great value!!!

    Michael2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't actually get to meet Gerri, as we arrived after they'd gone to bed and they left before we were up. Her communication was prompt and thorough, and her house was perfect for a quick stop on our multi-state road trip. The house is lovely and well-equipped, I especially appreciated the coffee this morning! Thanks Gerri!

    Jamie2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great space. Lots of room. Very comfortable beds. Little coffee maker, snacks, and hot chocolate in the room! DVDs and big TV. Very clean and quiet. I highly recommend Gerri's place!

  • Perfect place for a trip! Gerri was very easy to get a hold of and an awesome guest!

  • Gerri has a wonderful place in a great neighborhood, we loved our stay there! Highly recommended.

    Anson2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Gerri and her husband was great! It was one of our best Airbnb experiences. They were very hospitable and welcoming! Not only was our space private, very clean and comfortable, but there was also a snacks and beverages set-up in our area for our stay. We enjoyed our visit very much and would recommend their home to others 100%!

    Deb2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a peaceful, easy night at Gerri's. The place was roomy, very clean, and comfortable. The beds were nice and cozy.

Quiet neighborhood close to park. Tennis courts behind property. Large park area close by.
  • The backyard was so nice!

  • The place is roomy. It was very nice to have an upstairs and a downstairs living space, with another TV and sofa, in order to get some separation and quiet time. We really liked the ample parking, too.

  • Great place for our little family of 3.

    Billie2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great house, stores and shopping is very close. Easy access yo everything and Steve was understanding of our travel changes

    Miriam2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • My family of four and I felt very comfortable in this clean, thoughtfully furnished, and well-decorated duplex for a little more than two weeks. We were able to move in with our clothes, basic food, and a few toys, and then everything else was provided, from sheets and towels to napkins and dish soap. Things were set up so well that we really didn't need to contact Steve very much, but when we did he was very quick to respond. We enjoyed walking to the nearby playground, playing in the spacious basement and backyard, and being able to eat meals together around our dining table. The neighborhood is quiet, and located conveniently to the shopping, etc, in Onalaska. We would definitely recommend friends or family visiting from out of town stay here rather than in a hotel.

    Crystal2015-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The duplex is located in a great neighborhood and not too far from stores and restaurants. It's fully furnished with everything that you might need including a washer and dryer. Steve is a wonderful host providing me with instructions for late arrival access and remaining accessible to answer my questions via text messaging.

This is a walk-out basement with lots of windows and sliding door to a patio. There is a bedroom, large living area, and bar/kitchenette.
This basement walk out is a ten minute walk from the Omni center so it would be great for families participating in tournaments or shows. There is an elliptical for exercise, a private patio, and a play area with fort, slide, and swings. You would also have access to an electric grill and fire pit.
Single family houses near the YMCA, Omni Center, and a short drive to La Crosse.
  • Sharon's home was so nice and spacious. We appreciated the extra touches, such as extra blankets and the breakfast goodies. Her home was extremely close to the soccer fields that we played at throughout the weekend.

    Sarah2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Why stay at a hotel when you have a host like Sharon? Wonderful space, especially if you have a family. There were lots of amenities to enjoy. Sharon clearly has made it her mission to provide you comfort and privacy. Highly recommend!

    Audley2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was a comfy and had everything we needed. Sharon was awesome!

Incredible view of Lake Onalaska. The property is adjacent to a restaurant, snowmobile trails, boat landing, golf courses, and only minutes from shopping and city events. The property has a 900sf wrap around deck. The house also has a fire ring. You can walk out the back door to excellent ice fishing. The home underwent extensive repairs due to serious storm damage and has nice curb appeal again.
  • Magnificent spot at the Missisippi river, the view is great, the house is spacious. It has it all if you don't mind the fact the house looks pretty used.

    Jacco2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • My two dogs and I stayed here for an evening while we were driving across the country and they especially liked this place. The house is spacious, as well as the yard and the deck has a lovely view of the lake. The property is undergoing massive renovations but is still completely functional, you just need to look past the ongoing projects. There is also an upscale casual restaurant/bar just next door and totally walkable if you feel like just enjoying the view and not cooking!

    Megan2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thomas was a great host and made sure we had all we needed. Easy to communicate with and was available when needed. Beautiful spot on the water and great location. Only thing that I can say needs work is the outside of the house. Storm damage takes away from its full potential. Time and renting out makes that hard to finish. Overall, great get away spot for any time of year with a great host.

    Luke2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thomas was very nice and contacted us to see if there was anything we needed. He made himself available for any questions we might have. The house was very spacious and would work for a large or small group. Plenty of sleeping space. Very clean and had a beautiful view of the water as well as access to the water for anyone that would be interested in fishing or boating. Well furnished and amenities that everyone expects when vacationing. He is in the middle of some work on the outside of the house, but it will be very nice once the work is done. This doesn't take anything away from the rest of the property. We were very comfortable and would definitely stay again.

    Pat2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Location is pretty on the river. Patio and kitchen/living room is open and nice for big groups. Water access is not desirable for swimming. The house is definitely under renovations which make it overpriced for what you get. The outside of the home is is run down.

    Scott2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place is in a great spot right on the lake and close to town but it is an incomplete renovation. The beds are comfy, the kitchen is nice and big and there is loads of sleeping space. It will be a nice place once the updates are finished.

    Katy2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed meals

    Michael2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our 3 night stay at the lake house was both fun and relaxing. The location couldn't be better. We enjoyed most of our time on the large deck which overlooks beautiful lake Onalaska. Two doors down is a well run bar and grill which was nice to visit when not wanting to cook a meal. Although you can see the bar from the property we didn't hear any loud music or noise. Thomas was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed and even checked in when a large thunderstorm blew through. His place was very clean and well stocked with essentials and extras that one might forget when visiting a lake front home. Thomas had a canoe we used and we also rented a boat just a short walk down the road. I would recommend this lake home if you are looking for a relaxing stay close to amenities. This home is all about the views and location.

  • The Cabin was a wonderful stay for me and my husbands anniversary. Highly recommended. We ended up going to Perrot State Park, which was one of our favorite things about the trip. Brady bluff was beautiful and then to come "home" to a cozy cabin stay was just what we needed! Very clean and comfy beds.

  • The stay was very comfortable and relaxing. The cabin is on the shore of lake and the location is very beautiful. Host was very reachable and always replied promptly for any needs. We arrived a little late in the evening so the host kept the cabin door unlocked and kept the keys inside for us. The cabin is good for stay of 4 person with most of the amneties. We didn't need to reach out to host for anything during the stay. Will return again in future

Relax in the comfort of a large, 2 bedroom, 2 bath luxury apartment with private entrance, large yard and fire pit. Enjoy the quiet country life with panoramic views of Big Creek Valley. Close to Amish country, museums and Elroy Sparta bike trail!
Second story 900 square foot, full-sized apartment includes, guest entrance, 2 bedrooms (king room and queen room), 2 baths, living room, kitchen and balcony off the king room. A queen-size air bed can be set up in the living room. One bath features whirlpool tub. The other has large tiled shower with two heads. LR includes electric fireplace stove, bay window and work desk. Kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, table service, coffee and selection of teas. Flat screen TV in living room and in each of the bedrooms are also equipped with DVD players. All are on antennas (no cable or satellite) and receive only a few local channels. The apartment features reclaimed woods and other materials. Some wall art, benches, etc. on display, are available for purchase if desired.
Our home is located in beautiful Big Creek Valley. We are on a hill overlooking panoramic views of the agricultural fields, farms and wooded hills surrounding us. We also own "Used Anew", a company that deconstructs unwanted buildings, and processes reclaimed materials for repurposing. Material processing and storage is located onsite and is visible from the apartment's bay window. This is an active dairy farming community, so guests may be treated to views of farming operations in progress in the fields surrounding our property. There is an alpaca farm that encourages visits just a few miles from us and an old-fashioned butcher shop featured on Travel Channel's "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern." They make amazing and unusual summer sausages, beef and pork jerky, and other unique offerings. An 1874 country church and its preserved associated horse stable (now outfitted with tables and benches) - both available for events rental - are just down the road from us. We are close to "Amish country". A small Amish community has started up just a few miles from us. Guests may visit an Amish owned grocery store about 2 miles away, or can take a short drive to the Cashton area where a much larger and more established Amish community is settled. Many Amish homes post signs near the highway advertising various products available for sale, from produce to furniture and from maple syrup to horse harnesses!
  • Beautiful, clean, comfortable place to stay. Larry & Luanne were such gracious and sweet hosts. View from the bay window was great. Loved our short weekend there.

    Debbie2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is quiet spot with nice views and well appointed. The quality of the build out and custom wood furniture is amazing. The hosts are super accommodating and even tried to helped try to find a left behind item that turned out not to be left behind. They were so helpful and communicative during the entire process. Definitely would stay here again.

    Michael2016-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Larry and Lou were outstanding hosts. The location is so peaceful and quiet. They were accommodating with anything that we needed and we would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. As a side note, if wood working is a hobby stop by rather you are staying with them or not!

    Joe 2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Larry and Lu were the perfect hosts- totally willing to help with whatever we asked, but not being overly intrusive. Their property is beautiful, and the apartment is incredibly luxurious- large bedrooms, full kitchen, gorgeous spa-like bathrooms. Would definitely stay again, and would totally recommend this to anyone!

    Leila2015-10-26T00:00:00Z

  • Very nice place, quiet, clean and confortable, nice view to the country around. We enjoyed the 'bike 4 trails' nearby (Sparta, La Crosse, Trempaleau...), easy to do with kids. Larry and Lu are very friendly. They show us how old barn wood may be recycled in beautiful wood craft. Amazing!

    Delphine2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Larry and Lu were welcoming and accommodating all weekend. From start to finish, our stay was a delight. Lots of space, lots of comfort. Last night we enjoyed the fire pit under the stars.

  • Angie is a great host. Great communication throughout our stay, always offering help. Great suggestion for restaurants when asked. We had beautiful fresh flowers in the cottage for our welcome and it smelled fresh and clean. The beautiful view from the kitchen window is on the Mississippi River. Kitchen has everything if you like to cook. We just used it for breakfast. Enjoyed breakfast as a couple on the private deck in the mornings. The queen bed was very comfortable. The air conditioner was working great when we needed it. Really enjoyed the two kayaks, which are easy to launch dragging them down the hill. My husband found a great spot to hang a hammock. Nice little dock to sit with a cup of coffee or enjoy the most beautiful sunset. Comfortable sofas in living area. Nice trails right across road. We rented bikes just a few miles from cottage. Will be back, our best stay with airbnb!

  • Great location, with a beautiful pier by the lake. Everything was exactly as described, and Angie and DJ were very friendly. Would recommend!

  • Quiet and serene. Very clean and comfortable, and spacious for a small cabin, a great home away from home. Great location and views of the lake, very close to other things to do in the area. I loved the desk in the room with twin beds as this afforded me a great place for my laptop with a fantastic view and a great place to put on my makeup, lighting was perfect. Great closet/storage space to put clothing for the week. Roku TV was a plus for me, now I will be getting one for my home! Hope to come back one day.

    Penny2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable and peaceful. Deck was very nice. We used binoculars to watch the eagles and wildlife. Had time to relax and regenerate. Walking and biking trails close by. Perfect way to get away and do your own thing. Highly recommend location and accommodations. The hosts made sure we were seeing and doing what we wanted to do. Impressed by the quiet and stars at night. We can't wait to visit again and spent more time.

    Glenn2017-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were great! Angie checked in with us every day via text. If we are ever in the Onalska area again we will for sure check and see if this is available!

  • Thank you for a lovely stay in your adorable little cottage! Very clean and cute decor. It had everything we could possibly need. Communication with Angie was great. We would stay again!

    Robin2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Angie and DJ's place was wonderful! It was in a quiet setting and was very peaceful. The first morning we had homemade scones waiting for us on the patio :) The cottage was very clean and had all the essentials worth some added extras. Well worth the money and would definitely come back again and recommend it to friends!

    Molly2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • DJ and AK's place is very cute, very clean, and was a very nice place to stay. They had provided extra amenities such as a toiletries, snacks, etc in case we had forgotten anything. The cabin is on a shared lot with a few other units and in a residential area so if you are looking for more privacy this might not be the place. Unfortunately there was not a fire pit so night activities are limited. However, there were comfy couches inside to hang out and watch Netflix. The large bed was a bit older and not so sturdy and pretty small but all of the linens were very nice and clean. This place is a great deal! Much cheaper than a hotel, very well kept, has a nice little deck and some views of the lake. We felt like the property would be great rented out to numerous friends and family for a reunion or weekend away.

  • My husband, daughter and I stayed with our friends and their two kids at Jessica's cabin. It was the perfect place to go with kids. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. Jessica made sure to check in with us when we arrived and a couple of other times over the weekend. The location is nice if you want to get out and about. You can hear some traffic since it is near a major road, but all the trees help to mask that. It was a quick trip to the grocery store and easy to get out to hike. Would definitely recommend that you stay!

  • Our family of 4 adults and one toddler really enjoyed our stay here. We had never been to Galesville before and were happily surprised by the cute, historic town square while enjoying a visit to the farmers market, natural foods store, and Garden of Eaten. This accommodation gave us the quick and easy access to Perrot State Park and Winona that we were looking for. My place is 10 minutes from downtown La Crosse, close to the airport, but you'll feel a world away. You’ll love my place because of the peace and quiet, but mostly THE VIEWS. All the modern conveniences of dishwasher, microwave, shower and stove/fridge. You'll never see the same sunset! My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids).
You certainly aren't going to pick this place because of the posh surroundings ... this is a VERY basic cottage. What makes this place special are the views! You won't want to be inside for long anyway, as each and every sunrise and sunset it different and beautiful! Right now, one bedroom (queen size bed), and two pull out couches on the main level.
  • The space is as described, good communication via email although seemed a little impersonal.

    LINDA2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The home was absolutely lovely and just as pictured. I loved reading about the history of the home in provided booklets. The rooms were very comfortable and worked great for my friends and I. We loved having access to the kitchen for cooking big group meals. The location was great for walking downtown and to the Oktoberfest grounds. I would highly recommend this home or just anywhere with Jay and Ken. They were great hosts and took good care of us.

  • Stayed here for a couples weekend and it was perfect! Quaint cabin with nice amenities. As noted, sunsets and view make this place. Couldn't get the grill to work and they didn't have a fire pit but other than that it was perfect for a weekend! Host was very quick with responses and we would definitely stay here again!

Cottage with kitchen, bath and 1 bedroom plus sofa bed is on our quiet beautiful lakeside property. Close to airport, I 90, Mississippi River. It's great for overnight travelers or a longer visit to La Crosse area. Price is for 2, 4 for small fee. We do have a canoe with PFDs available to those who have knowledge and experience using this kind of boat.
This cottage is a second home on our lakeside property that we are making available to travelers, visitors to the area and recreation enthusiasts. It is private and includes a full kitchen and dining area. There is one bedroom that can accommodate two in a double bed. In addition, the main living area has a sofa sleeper that pulls out into a double bed. It is in a very quiet location yet is within a mile of the airport and Interstate 90 and is closer to them than any other accommodations on French Island. La Crosse's train station is within 5 miles. Lake Onalaska is actually a pool on the Mississippi River, with Lock and Dam #7 just across the lake, so you could even arrive by boat as the public landing is less then a mile from us. Lake Onalaska is enjoyed year round for fishing, hunting and wildlife observation.
Breezy Point Cottage is located within sight of Lake Onalaska in a residential neighborhood on French Island within the Town of Campbell in the City of La Crosse. We are centrally located on French Island so everything is within a couple miles of us. French Island is the location of La Crosse's airport and Interstate 90 crosses it at its center. Louis Nelson County Park and a private sailboat club are located at the northern end. There are several marinas on either side of French Island. The "Island" has a few casual restaurants/bars, some with entertainment, as well as a grocery store and a couple gas stations. Many more cultural, recreational, shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities are within a very short distance in the greater La Crosse area.
  • The cottage was a great place for my husband and I to step away from our hectic schedules for a few days to relax and get some quiet time. The cottage was very clean and cozy, and had many essential items available for us. We would recommend the cottage as a get-away to anyone.

    Chelsea2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Pam helped get things set for us even though we arrived quite late. Everything was exceptionally clean and we felt invited. The May flies were out the night we stayed and Gary was very informative about the area. We have a family of four so we used the bed and the pullout sofa. The pullout mattress end up a bit more comfortable on the floor rather than the frame (as most pull outs do) and the bed was just a bit short for someone who is 6' 2" but the mattress was comfy. Our favorite part was the dock on the lake. Just Beutiful!

  • We loved our time at Breezy Point cottage! The cottage was just as described--simple and lovely, perfect for a quiet weekend get-away. It was close enough to downtown La Crosse to enjoy everything this lovely city has to offer, but in a quiet location where we could enjoy breakfast on the deck and listen to all the birds of springtime. The cottage was clean, well-tended, and homey. We recommend Pam and Gary as hosts, and this cottage as a great place to stay!

  • The house was even better than advertised. The sofa bed was very comfy, perfect amount of space for 2 couples. The deck was perfect for a peaceful cup of coffee before heading out for the day. We were in town for Oktoberfest and the place was about a 15 min drive from the festivities.

The A.C. Carter House is a unique and charming testament to the entrepreneurial spirit of the once wild river city of La Crosse. The personal residence of Civil War veteran, merchant, and patent medicine man Amos Claude Carter and family; it is a delightful study in the detail of whimsy that once was a part of everyday design in Victorian America. For the full history, architectural details and additional photos you may wish to send an inquiry for the historic web site.
A truly unique and authentic Victorian gingerbread house! The ornate structure was restored and nominated to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1986 and photographed for the book Daughters of the Painted Ladies- America's Resplendent Victorians (one of only two homes in La Crosse chosen for that honor). It is listed on the La Crosse historical walking tour. Decorated in delightful Victorian imported wall coverings and friezes chosen to closely match the original designs and colors discovered during the restoration. The interior is furnished with a eclectic fun mix of comfortable and antique furnishings from Empire, to Victorian, to Art Deco, to Atomic Age and featuring rare massive antique 1 st Empire and Victorian bedroom suites by Anthony Quervelle of Philadelphia and Charles Lee of New Orleans. A House Adorned-The History The A.C. Carter House, Circa 1888 is significant for it’s historic connection with the economic and social development of North La Crosse, Wisconsin. It serves history as a prime example of entrepreneurial spirit , alive in La Crosse, an important Mississippi River port of the 19th century. This home is a rare, and excellent example of fine craftsmanship and detail, in the late Gothic Revival style of the Queen Anne Victorian Period of American architecture. Highly ornate, it was one of the most adorned suburban residences of the new North side subdivision at it’s time of construction. It directly reflects still, the tastes and character of it’s original occupant, and builder, Amos Claude Carter. Carter, a Civil War veteran, shot in Richmond, imprisoned in the horrific “Bull Pen” POW camp and present at Gen. Lee's surrender at Appomattox during his service, came to La Crosse in the 1880’s, and worked as a craftsman in many different area’s of construction with only one useful arm. Being of strong spirit, having been marched in “double quick” for nine days while shot through this arm and without rations for three days, he became a leader of men. Amos Carter soon became a builder and independent contractor. An entrepreneur, Amos Carter began yet another business, that of a wholesale grocer and dry goods merchant, and was among those to first build a North side business district in the 1300 block of Caledonia Street. A.C. Carter & Son, provided a good income as well as an outlet for his new venture, Fell’s Patent Medicine. Being very successful in his endeavors, he built himself the home of his dreams, and cherished it till his dying day. After his death, the home eventually passed to his youngest surviving daughter Bessie, whom occupied the home until her death in Feb, 1985. Just two months short of her 101st birthday. The home still stands today, relatively unchanged, as the legacy of the free enterprise, and spirit, that was A.C. Carter. A.C. Carters granddaughter Avis Riley, who grew up in the home, still resided in the smaller home north, until her death in 2007. We forever thank her for her invaluable contributions, and use of photographs in researching it’s history. Additional Carter Family Data Amos Claude Carter, Civil War Veteran, married Lurene Henry, *great granddaughter and direct descendent of Revolutionary War patriot Patrick Henry (“Give me liberty or give me death”) in New York, Aug. 15th 1865 the date was also recorded as Sept. 15th 1865, perhaps a 2nd wedding ceremony. This kinship being subject of an article in a Minnesota newspaper from the 1890's, shown to us by Avis Riley, about the Henry family wedding spoons presented to Amos and Lurene (aka Lorena) by a Patrick Henry descendants society. We do not know the true exact genealogical connection. They bore four children, one, a daughter Mae Bell, died in infancy. Son Claude, and daughters Maude and Bessie survived. First settled in Sparta, Wisconsin before moving to La Crosse. They lived above their dry goods store during much of the four year construction of the A.C. Carter House. The home was purchased in 1985, first restored, and is still currently owned by Dean and Signe Gronbeck-Johnson, owners of Grandeur Restorations of Madison, and it was accepted for Nomination for the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. The A.C. Carter House is featured on page 77 of the book “Daughters Of The Painted Ladies, America’s Resplendent Victorians” Elizabeth Pomada and Michael Larson authors, Douglas Keister photographer. It is widely considered the 'bible' of Victorian restorationists. One of only two La Crosse homes selected on Ms. Pomada's nationwide tour, the photographer was sent back from San Francisco to capture 2 photos during restoration to be on time for publication. Ms. Pomada described the home as one of the most delightful surprises of her tour. We are truly honored by her recognition of this wonderful home that time seemed to have forgotten.
This spacious home is conveniently located in a very nice quiet North La Crosse neighborhood, very close to the major Rose St. hotel district, and two quick and direct traffic routes to downtown, and the Onalaska areas. Just blocks from beautiful riverfront parks, beach, and boat launch for enjoying terrific recreation and event opportunities.

  • The AC Carter home is a very old home, so we did not expect modern perfection. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Signe was very responsive and was actually there when we arrived. However, the faint smoke smell described in the listing is a little more than faint. Dishes were dirty. Unfortunately, it rained most of the day and night that we were there; and the run off from the roof falls right over the entrance. The porch and stairs had puddles, the bushes to the entrance were wet and are overgrown into the pathway.

    Jaren2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This house is beautiful and very large. It does however have a noticeable odor from previous smoking. If you have an allergy to smoke I would not choose this location. We had a nice stay.

  • The house was very classy. It's an old home with a rich history. We stayed here for a weekend and really enjoyed our time. Signe was a great host and communicated well. The home is old and the amenities and household reflects that, but we loved the decorations, furniture, and history. It felt like we were truly away from our normal lives. I think the homeowners noticed complaints about the smoke smell and took it to heart. My wife and I were NOT bothered by any smoke smell. There were Glade boxes around the home. If we ever find ourselves needing to stay in La Crosse again I'll certainly rent this home again.

    Cal2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house was perfect, exactly as pictured and had a great bed and breakfast feel. Parking was easy right on the street and could accommodate multiple vehicles. Signe made checkin and checkout easy and was great at communicating if we had any issues. I would definitely stay here again.

A very clean and quiet private home, shared with two cats, on the North side of LaCrosse. Just blocks from Old Towne North, The Sweet Shop, Logger Field, Black River and Mississippi River. A beautiful city---if you haven't been to LaCrosse recently, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Private bedroom with locking door, shared bath.
1 full size bed with feather pillows and a light down-filled comforter. Bath towels and soaps are provided. Bottled water in room. Feel free to use fridge for your perishable food items. Wi-fi available.
  • Carma’s was a great stay. Super clean and comfortable. We probably had more fun being at home hanging with Carma and the cats than we did out in town. She’s a most excellent host and human being. I hope u enjoy your stay with her as much as we did.

    Drew2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Carma was fantastic. She was very responsive in her communication when we were planning our arrival. Her place is clean and cozy, and the bed was very comfortable. The house is located in a quiet part of town, but close enough to the downtown area that it's just a short drive away. She was very hospitable in allowing us to cook dinner and then breakfast in her kitchen, and was helpful in answering our questions about the area. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would recommend her place to anyone who is visiting La Crosse.

    Ken2017-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • I would recommend Carma for her hospitality, cleanliness, and professionalism. If you need a place to stay for a few days I'd recommend the cat house.

  • Carma's place was great. Just as described. Not being cat people,I had some initial reservations about the cats, but once we arrived and found the house and room very neat and clean they were not an issue at all. Carma was a great host. Low key quiet place to stay. I would recommend breakfast at Marge's.

Becca's Driftless Manor is close to La Crescent Minnesota and La Crosse Wisconsin. Three miles from La Crescent the drive up our hill provides spectacular views of the Mississippi River Valley. Our place is minutes from: the airport, great dining, family-friendly activities, apple orchards, three college campuses, shopping, river fun in the summer and snow skiing in the winter. You can enjoy the fresh air or cozy up to a warm fire. We can also accommodate those traveling with equines.
Our two story home has five bedrooms rarely used, that we're sharing with visitors. Upstairs there are four rooms that are rented to only one party at a time. Three bedrooms are about 14' x 14' with large windows looking out at beautiful country scenes. The fourth bedroom is smaller and setup for children. There is a crib and bunk beds with a double futon on the bottom. The bathroom is private for guests renting the upper bedrooms. There is also a shared half-bath on the first floor. We live on the first floor but welcome visitors to share the kitchen, two large family rooms both with TVs, one with a large copper-top bar and wine cellar and the other with a large fireplace and piano. Guests are invited to enjoy the entire property. The entire place is also available for large groups, we've accommodated up to 14 at one time - all in their beds with two and one-half baths. Please contact us for availability, number of beds needed and pricing.
Our home is three miles from La Crescent along Apple Blossom Drive (County Road 1). It overlooks the Mississippi River. It is on five acres that are filled with mature trees which provide many private spaces to sit and relax or walk around for fresh air or for a visit to our neighbor's winery: River View Vineyard & Winery. We overlook the Mississippi River so during spring and fall we enjoy watching many migrating flocks of ducks, geese, pelicans, eagles, great herons. Our neighbor has a nesting box for peregrine falcons. The songbirds love our trees and hummingbirds regularly buzz us while sitting outside. The deer are frequent visitors as are a variety of squirrels, rabbits and other critters. Our property is in the heart of the Driftless Region - an area untouched by the glaciers preserving unique topography and wildlife. It is featured in a 26 minute youtube video for those interested in learning more about the "Mysteries of the Driftless". The Mysteries of the Driftless is a documentary about a team of explorers and scientists kayaking down deeply cut tributary valleys, flying in ultralights, and climbing rocky bluffs to reveal answers to the mysteries within the driftless area. Their journey will expose both the science and threats behind three unique features of the zone - rare plants and animals, odd geological phenomenon, and striking remnants of a Native American pilgrimage like no other. What these explorers reveal will not only give the audience a greater appreciation for the unique diversity of this "island of land" that escaped glacial scouring, but will inspire a greater appreciation for this amazing area. The goal is not to answer all the mysteries, but to document the exploratory process for the viewers. In the end, the film will ignite the curiosity of viewers to discover more about the area for themselves.
  • The home was a perfect location for our friend's getaway weekend. Snacks and breakfast were provided but not expected which was a wonderful surprise that we appreciated! The home was very comfortable and clean for us to stay and the hosts were very friendly as was their puppy companions. The views were gorgeous and the location was convenient.

  • Rebecca's place is wonderful!!! It's located in a very scenic area, close to the large city of LaCrosse, but far enough away if you want less hustle and bustle. You couldn't ask for a nicer host.

    James2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I were looking for a place to spend a weekend away and we got so lucky stumbling upon Becca's listing. Her home and land is absolutely beautiful no matter the weather and is very close to La Crosse! We had no problem finding things to do in the area. When we arrived we were immediately welcomed, even though we arrived much later than planned. She had even made homemade apple pie (I usually don't like apple pie but this pie was amazing)! Becca is an amazing cook and sitting around the table eating dinner made us feel so at home! They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet! We were able to have some great conversations. I even got to snuggle with one of their adorable dogs! Our stay here was so great from the time we booked to the time we left. We were quite sad to say goodbye but we're already thinking about returning in the winter (hopefully I'll learn how to ski!) So if you're looking for a nice place to stay in a fun, beautiful area, and want to meet some wonderful people, definitely stay here. You won't regret it!

  • This is a total hidden gem. A beautiful property and a beautiful view brings up the rear to the amazing owner, Becca. A truly special person from the minute you meet her and the cute little dog ties the ribbon on an amazing stay. The best Air BNB we have had so far!

  • This home was located perfectly with a beautiful view and great hosts! From the fire that was ready when we returned from dinner at night to the wonderful homemade breakfast with special requested chocolate milk :)! We walked away after one night relaxed and feeling great! Thanks again for making our first Airbnb a one to remember!

  • Fantastic location overlooking the Mississippi River and wonderful hosts made our stay awesome! Rebecca, her husband, KB, and Barron all made us feel welcome. Even though we did not get in until very late, Rebecca was there to greet us with a smile on her face and a helping hand. She made sure throughout our stay that we were comfortable. We'd definitely stay here the next time we visit La Crosse/La Cresent!

  • My dad and I had a terrific time staying with Rebecca and her husband Dean. She made a rhubarb cake that was still warm when I arrived. The home is beautiful and has a terrific view of the river valley. She made us breakfast to order with fresh eggs. Very fun. Highly recommend this space.

  • We celebrated my husband's 40th bday with a group of 8 at Shamawyah's place. The main event of the weekend was to go to the Oktoberfest grounds for a beer tasting event. The house was great location! We were able to walk to downtown in about 20 min. We grilled out on the gas grill at the house and we had plenty of space to gather inside and out. Everyone had a bed to sleep in too. Shamawyah was super helpful with all questions and she was flexible with check in and out. There is a fun bar/restaurant just down the street called Sloopy's that I highly recommend as well. Great food and fun atmosphere! I would for sure book this property again. Thank you!!

This is a newly remodeled, downstairs in-law suite of our home. The entrance is completely separate and private from the owners' space above. We are tucked right next to Grandad's Bluff, are .5 mile from UW-La Crosse Campus, and 1.5 miles to downtown/Riverside park! This is a safe, no outlet street with very little traffic and noise. You'll enjoy our comfortable space with free wifi, private entrance, hiking & golfing right down the street, and shorts walks to food & entertainment!
Our driveway is shared with our neighbor. We ask that you please park on the street to ensure we don't block our neighbor's drive. There is a flight of stairs to get to the space. The entryway space is yours to use while you're here! We own pets - they live upstairs with us, but never (currently or previously) enter the rental space. They like to tell us when the mailman is here, or if someone is walking near our driveway. Many weekends, they won't be present, but once in a while you may potentially hear them a bit. We apologize for that, and will try to give you a heads up if we know they'll be here congruent with your stay.
Very quite street as there is no outlet. At the end of our block is Forest Hills Golf Course and the base of Grandad's Bluff. There is loads of hiking and biking in those woods and we use the trails often. If you follow our street 1.5 miles in the opposite direction, you'll run straight into Downtown La Crosse and the Mississippi River!
  • Stylish and spacious, impeccably clean, terrific bathroom with lovely bathtub, cozy fireplace, nice recommendations about dining, excellent location at the foot of Granddad Bluff. We were very impressed and highly recommend it!

I was traveling all day and didn't have time to get food and there aren't many places to eat but she made dinner and shared with me and I'm forever grateful. The room itself was super nice and clean with a comfy bed. She also has a very friendly cat who is super cute! This was probably the best stay I ever had. Cozy home build in 1923, but updated with all the best comforts. Our home is located near UW La Crosse campus and within walking distance to many coffee shops, restaurants and parks or trails. Three bedrooms, two with queen mattresses and one with a queen air mattress. Two full bathrooms and kitchen.
  • This was the first time that either my parents or my fiancé's parents have ever used airbnb and they both loved it thanks to Sonny & Leah's adorable home in La Crosse. Although this home is very close the UW-La Crosse campus, you wouldn't know it based on how quiet the neighborhood is. It is also close enough to walk to several restaurants and coffee houses just down the street. The house is beautiful (and very clean!) and it is obvious that they have put a lot of time and love into it. They were also very accommodating with our complex situation - with us flying into La Crosse very late. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in the beautiful and historic La Crosse area. Also their cat was adorable and my father completely fell in love with her!

    Emily2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • A truly lovely house!! I highly recommend this home to anyone visiting the campus, or staying in LaCrosse in general! It's a beautiful comfortable home and a very short walk to campus. I was in town with my 2 sons for a college visit, so the proximity to the campus was perfect! Sonny & Leah did a great job renovating this home. You get the older home charm with modern amenities. (and fresh ground coffee!) If my son decides to go to school at UWL I will definitely stay here again when I visit! Thank you both!

This studio apartment has been maximized for efficiency and comfort. The decor is modern. The room is your living room and bedroom which is open to the small kitchen area. There are two closets with plenty of room to hang clothes and store luggage. The queen size Murphy bed is easy to use and comfortable for even the most selective guest. When not in use it is stored for maximization of the space. The couch can be converted into a bed for a child or a person 5'5" tall.
The apartment is located on the North side of La Crosse. This is a 7 minute drive to downtown or a 15 to 20 minute walk depending on your stride. The building itself was built in the early to mid 70's, but a few of the apartments have been newly renovated. The outside and common areas are dated, but kept very clean. The area is safe despite it's industrial look and I like to remind people to always lock your car doors and the door to the apartment. Festival (grocery store) and Downtown La Crosse are just a few minutes away. If you're in town for an event you'll find this area conveniently located to everything.
It's in an industrial part of town that doesn't boast too many "neighborhood" activities, but it is close to everything and doesn't take long to get to the action.
  • Kaleb continues to be a great host with clean and comfortable accommodations.

    Charlie2017-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely studio apartment. It is priced fairly as the building itself is a bit outdated. However, when you enter the apartment it is modern (as described), very clean, and very comfortable! If you want to watch TV, the only options are using your own Netflix or Amazon accounts. We have both, so that worked fine for us. If you don't have accounts, you will not be able to watch any TV. Kaleb was very helpful and responsive. We would definitely recommend staying here, and we plan to stay again the next time we are in LaCrosse.

    Julie2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The modern studio near downtown La Crosse is a total gem. While it’s off the beaten path, it’s a little charmer in every way. The newly renovated space is beautifully decorated with all the comforts of home. Even though it’s a small space, it doesn’t feel like it. The natural light and design elements - fabrics, colors, and textures - add a sense of luxury. Kaleb has truly thought of everything for a wonderfully relaxing stay. It was our first time using the August app for check-in and we loved the ease of not worrying about a key. Next time we bike in Lansboro, we’ll stay in this sweet space(URL HIDDEN)Things to note: People’s Food Coop has a wonderful deli and is less than a mile away. The rooftop terrace at the Charmant Hotel (renovated candy factory) is a fun place for a drink. Along the riverfront at 4 Sister’s Wine and Tapas Lounge the food is good. For a breathtaking view of the city, drive up to Grandad Bluff!

  • One of my favorite stays through Airbnb by far! I loved how cute the apartment was-it was the perfect amount of space, super clean and well-organized, inviting atmosphere, cute decorations, comfortable bed-the list goes on! Kaleb's guest service was wonderful and made my stay even more enjoyable! The August app that we used was very convenient and secure. It was my first time using the app, but I liked it a lot more than using a physical key because it makes the check in/check out process a lot easier! It's definitely something I think all hosts/travelers should use! Thanks for the wonderful stay Kaleb!

  • Kaleb's airbnb was the perfect place to stay for my week-long work trip. The kitchen is fully equipped, which was great because I didn't have to eat out at a restaurant every night. The bed and whole studio were very comfortable. Kaleb was a very attentive and accommodating host.
