Holiday Rentals in Lee Vining

Just booked in Lee Vining

The Mono Lake House is centrally located in the most pristine region of California. We are about 20 minutes away from the East Entrance to Yosemite, 30 minutes from Bodie State Park, and we are literally on the shore of Mono Lake. It is an incredible property with a huge lawn to read a book on or to just watch the afternoon thunderstorms roll in. Zac and Justine, your hosts, will give you all the info you need to have an amazing trip in the area.
The Mono Lake House is right on the shore of Mono Lake. This provides our visitors with an amazing view of afternoon thunderstorms, bird migrations, and colorful sunsets. Room 1 is comfortable, clean, and quiet. We use only organic cotton sheets and the room has a very relaxed feel to it. We do not have televisions in any rooms because we feel like there is a lot more to see out here. Room 1 shares a shower with Room 2 however there are two bathrooms to use amongst the two rooms.
The Mono Lake House is 4 miles north of the town of Lee Vining. It is also located right on the western shore of Mono Lake. We are realistically 25 minutes from the East Entrance of Yosemite National Park. 25 minutes may seem long, but in the eastern sierra, 25 minutes is right down the street. The East Entrance of Yosemite drops you right into Tuolumne Meadows, one of the most beautiful meadows in the world. With granite domes and alpine lakes surrounding you, there is no shortage of stunning views. We are a 10 minute drive from Lundy Canyon, a beautiful, quiet canyon that is a trailhead to some great day hikes. It is also a place to spend the day fishing in Lundy Lake. We are about 35 minutes from the entrance to Bodie State Park. This is a historic mining town that has been very well preserved and is a very popular place to spend the day when the High Sierra is not ideal. Panum Crater is 20 minutes south of us and is a geologic wonder as well as the Mono/Inyo Craters. June Lake is right across the street from those Craters and is a really special place to jump in a crystal clear lake and then enjoy a beer at the June Lake Brewery afterwards. Ultimately, if you like the outdoors, our neighborhood is paradise.
  • A lovely, zen sensibility bed & breakfast with welcoming and caring hosts, Zac and Justine. From common areas and porch ever changing views of Mono lake as lighting changes. Can rent one of two bedrooms with a shared bath down the hall or master bedroom with view of lake. As hosts note, do get Hwy 395 traffic noise as located next to it. Good place to stay for several days when planning to explore or do outdoor activities in the area.

  • Zach is a great host, very friendly and helpful. Ask him for some advice on what to do in the area. He knows his way around in Sierra Nevada. The house is great and very clean, very good beds and great coffee! The breakfast is granola and yoghurt but the kitchen is at your disposal. Perfect place to visit Yosemite. Would definitely book again. And Zach's dog is very cute.

  • Excellent option in the mono lake area. The rooms are really nice and the view of the lake from the terrace is just amazing. We had coffee in the morning with the best view that we could ask for. Zachary gave us great hiking, towns and food recommendations.....and a lovely granola breakfast in the morning. Overall we are extremely happy that we choose this airbnb.

  • Zac is a friendly host! We felt like home and the House was very comfy and modern. Zac is a real travelguide - ask him about traveling tips! We loved Bodie :)

  • Perfect place for a tour to Yosemite - with fantastic nature around in the Mono Lake region. The house is beautiful, even elegant. Zachary is a perfect host and gave us great recommendations for our day trip to the Yosemite valley but also for a fantastic day in the Mono lake region (take your time for this, if possible!). We made a great hike in the Lundy canyon and a spectacular hike around a crater close to the Mono Lake.

  • We were coming from a visit in Yosemite. Zac's place was great to stay for the night by the Mono Lake. A very nice and clean place. Zac is a great host, very friendly with great tips of what to explore in the surroundings. And best breakfast!! :-)

  • The location is wonderful with a view of Mono Lake. The host was very gracious, accommodating and easy to communicate with. The home is beautifully decorated and meticulously clean. My room was comfy and spacious. There is some road noise. The grounds are immaculate.

  • The house was very nice and had a great view on the lake, which was particularly enjoyable while having breakfast

  • We had an amazing time in The Mono Lake House with Zac and his dog Bodie. The whole house (including our bathroom and bedroom) was super tidy and clean and our bed was really comfortable. There was always fresh fruit at the table and cool drinks in the fridge. We also got water next to our bed. The house was easy to find and the area is very calm and relaxed. With no light pollution, the night sky is so beautiful to watch from the porch. In the morning, we got the best granola we have ever tasted and a great selection of Greek yogurt and fruit. Bodie, the dog, is very kind and became a huge hit with our six months old kid. Zac had some great tips on what to do in the neighborhood and where to go on our trip down to Las Vegas. We would definitely recommend staying here.

  • Hands down, this is the best Airbnb experience that I have had so far - especially in a shared house situation. Zach was an awesome host. He was very welcoming, helpful, etc. The room and shared spaces were very clean and tidy. The view is amazing. I would definitely visit again.

  • Lovely, clean, relaxing home. Knowledgable and kind hosts. Simple, healthy, delicious breakfasts. Adorable pup. Was the perfect base camp for us to explore the Eastern Sierras. Would return and highly recommend!

  • Zac was a really friendly and enthusiastic host, who shared with us a lot about the area (Lundy, Tuolumne, Lee Vining, Mono Lake, etc). We were warmly greeted by Zac and his pet dog, Bodie, on our arrival. With the views of the mountains and the lake from his place, this made a perfect place to relax and feel close to nature. Tuolumne Meadows is a 30min drive away, and there was a kayak rental at the Mono Lake within 3min away. At night, there was no light pollution (other than the occasional headlights from passing cars) which was great for stargazing. The house was lovely and welcoming too, very well-designed and maintained! Zac made brownies too, and provided breakfast in the mornings. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend staying at the Mono Lake house!
