Route
“The Monsal Trail is just on your doorstep and a wonderful way to explore the immediate area or join up other routes to get to know the wider area. It is approx 8 miles in length, traffic free and offers stunning views from start to finish. Along the way in which ever direction are places of interest, with Bakewell and (close to) Buxton at either end. Sadly Buxton doesn't quite link up to the trail yet. Pubs and cafes along the way make it a great place for either a quick evening walk or a full day's exploring. (See links for Hassop Station (Cafe and bike hire) and Miller's Dale stations (cafe and car park) ”

“Commanding superb views over Monsal Dale, a valley in an area of Derbyshire’s Peak District known as the White Peak, the Monsal Head Hotel offers guests good food, with well priced seasonal menus, real ales from local micro breweries, a large outdoor seating area, and 7 en-suite bedrooms. The Hotel and Coaching Inn are in one of the most popular beauty spots in Derbyshire, with views over the valley and its famous viaduct, and a short distance from Chatsworth Estate, Ashford in the Water, Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock.”

Bus Station
“Quirky little pub 10 mins walk from the campsite. It's been a pub since 1837 and is now owned by our local brewery Thornbridge. Book ahead as it is small and popular. Pub quiz on a Thursday is not to be missed!”
