Restaurant
“Sitting on the water’s edge of the Msida Marina, La Vela is the very definition of a hidden jewel. Recently refurbished with an interior based on white wood, white linen and silver and gold touches, the place feels clean and pure. The back and outdoor area overlook the Marina. Yachts, gently bobbing, make for a quasi-hypnotic, blissful effect while you dine. Michelle and team are fantastic hosts and very finely attuned to the palates of their patrons.La Vela shines brightest when it comes to the bounty of the sea, with an impresive wine list to complement it. For each dish, seasoning and garnish are minimal, exciting every particle of flavour locked within, without overpowering it. The famous antipasto di pesce crudo e cotto consists of seven different types of seafood, and is a must-have. The spaghetti with sea urchins and the ravioli with grouper work beautifully as a duo. Choose your catch from a platter overflowing with John Dory, dorado, trill, seabass and possibly even a live crab- all freshly caught and subject to the whims and generosity of the sea. For those who prefer beef, the Aberdeen Angus fillet and rib-eye never fail to please. For dessert, the cannolo with fresh ricotta presents the perfect interplay between crunchy, smooth and incredibly tasty.”
