“The Sacramento River is one of the most impressive natural resources in all of California, and if you are visiting the town of Mount Shasta, you can take this quick stop to visit its humble beginnings. Mount Shasta City Park, on the outskirts of town, features the start of the river and has become an almost spiritual spot for people to visit and drink from. I saw a half dozen people come fill up water bottles while I was there. It is a peaceful place for a quick visit and here is all the information.”

Campground
“This is so much more than a campground. The only public beach access to Lake Siskiyou that has amenities, you can sunbathe on the 600' white sand swimming beach, splash for an hour or the whole day at the Splash Zone and rent a pedal boat, kayaks, canoes or rafts at the beach or head over to the boat launch area and rent a patio boat that seats up to 8-12. You'll find a full service grocery and lake supplies/gift shop and deli. There is a bait & tackle shop, fishing dock and fish cleaning station. If you don't feel like doing anything but swimming and dining, check out the Lake Sis Grille & Brew with wine/beer/burgers, hot dogs & pizzas! Great food. Free parking, entrance fee to the resort is $1.00/per person. ”

Park
“Although this is a man-made lake, it is extremely close to town and still quite pristine! There's a beautiful 7mi trail that completely circumnavigates the lake through meadows and evergreen forest. There are some stunning views of the mountain, places to camp, and swimming when the weather is nice. ”
