The Den is a unique space within the Lake District - a Scandinavian style BBQ cabin. A large BBQ pit in the centre to sit around provides a cosy relaxing evening space, and a place to cook! WiFi, Fridge, Microwave, Kettle & Nespresso. Bedding provided, and a heated blanket! 8 minutes by car to Windermere, 5 minutes to Kendal. Easy access to a bus stop and cycle lane. Dales Way very close by. A camping-type toilet and sink (hot & cold water) next to the cabin. Dogs welcome £5/night extra.
Set in 2/3rds of an acre of beautiful gardens with private countryside views. Off street private and secure parking is provided. Toilet is located next to The Den in a separate shed. The sink has running hot & cold drinking water. Please note there are not shower facilities, but the sink with running water is suitable for taking a daily wash.
We are about half way between Kendal and Windermere. The main cycle lane into the Lake District is directly across the road, as is the Dales Way walking path. The Den is in a semi-rural setting with views to the surrounding countryside. For clarity's sake, during busy rush hours there is some traffic noise from the road, but evenings and nights are typically quiet. Please note that we are not the Windermere Camping Site, despite the AirBnB map showing it close by!
  • What a wonderful place! The lodge is truly magical, such a romantic little get away. We are definitely going to be back to explore the area further - its a close drive to the lakes nearby. Both Matt and yassmine were lovely, very attentive and made sure we had everything that we needed. It was great to wake up to the Shetland ponies outside and a greeting from Gaston the dog. Would highly recommend to anyone!

  • Very nice experience! Very nice cosy place ♥️

  • Cool sparkley den for a romantic getaway :) Beautiful area and host was really helpful. It was early March so a bit chilly out but the BBQ warmed up the den and the toilet had a heater in so acted as a drying room for us. Great break! Thank you!

  • Fabulous little hut. We bought the stay as a gift, they really enjoyed it. We went up to visit and Matthew was fantastic, told us where to go, how to feed the horse, which our 2 year old loved. Hut is great, big bbq, all the essentials.

  • Very accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay here. It made our trip to the Lakes that extra bit special. Thank you for the recommendations Yassmine for where to go we enjoyed everything that you suggested. The room and facilities were fantastic. We were also very pleasantly surprised to meet the Shetland Ponies and Gusto! I highly recommend!

  • Great place.

  • The Den is a beautiful made space and holds the most relaxing atmosphere. Matt and Yassmine have thought of everything, providing guests with charcoal, WiFi, tea and coffee, etc. They are also such friendly and responsive hosts! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the den and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, quirky place (the bbq is an amazing feature). Thank you both!

  • Booked for Xmas present for my girlfriend and what a great choice I made. The hut was absolutely stunning from the moment we arrived. Location is also accessible from a number of viewpoints and amenities. The fire pit is a lovely touch where we made dinner. Shetland pony’s were a nice little surprise too. The hit was slightly cold, however to be expected in Feb. Highly recommend staying in this beautiful hut and we will be back!

There are ice cubes in the freezer compartment of the fridge. Please take a look at our guidebook for details of local restaurants and eateries we recommend. We own a miniature Dachshund (very small). Her name is Miss Saveloy Sausage or Savvy for short. She is very quiet, friendly and adores children but is never allowed in the suite (she can't get up the stairs - they are too big)!
There is a superb supermarket 2 minutes walk away that stocks a wide variety of local and specialist produce and has an excellent cheese counter, deli section and off licence. Kendal's bustling high street is one minute's walk away where you'll find plenty of shops, a library, the post office and several banks. There's a Costa on the main high street and Caffe Nero is in the marketplace. It's worth exploring Kendal's historic yards where you'll find many of our more individual retailers and businesses. The market town of Kendal lies just outside the spectacular Lake District National Park, has plenty of pubs, cafés, takeaways and restaurants, 2 museums, a leisure centre with swimming pool, golf course, the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and the Brewery Arts Centre with a theatre, cinemas, art galleries, bars and a regular live music programme (visit the breweryarts website). There are plenty of places to explore with lovely parks (Kendal Castle, Serpentine Woods and Noble's Rest) and pleasant walks along the river Kent right on our doorstep. There is a street market every Wednesday and Saturday and a farmer's market once a month. EATERIES AND CAFÉS WE RECOMMEND: CASTLE DAIRY Visit castledairy.co.uk to book. The Castle Dairy Restaurant and Art Gallery offers a unique dining experience in Kendal’s oldest inhabited building. Staffed by Kendal College apprentices and watched over by chef Robert Stacey, the restaurant provides exceptional food, surrounded by local art work, in a truly unusual setting. NB: Currently closed due to the floods in December 2015. Keep checking their website as they do plan to reopen in March 2017. Five minutes' walk from our place on Wildman Street. • Caryn’s place is absolutely stunning and we feel lucky to have had the chance to stay here. It’s a lovely big space, very arty and peaceful - lovely big bath, comfortable sofa, smart tv, coffee machine and Caryn even baked us some bread and left yoghurts, orange juice and milk in the fridge. It was perfect. The house is right in the heart of Kendal so despite the rain we found lots to do and there is a lovely pub at the end of the road. If you are driving there and parking your car just be aware it’s extremely tight and narrow on the road so opt for a smaller car if possible! Thank you Caryn for having us we’d love to visit again one day. Mick & Caroline

  • My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic late January stay at Colour House. The apartment is as impressive, arty and spacious as it looks in the pictures and the additional touches of local produce, home baked bread, tea, coffee etc. were great. The location in the heart of Kendal is excellent and we found the buses provided a cheap and easy way to explore into the Lakes, whether to Windermere, Ambleside or Cartmel for its restaurants (the latter a short taxi ride from Grange over Sands). Caryn was a perfect and very welcoming host. Very friendly, quick to reply to questions pre visit and asked us if we wanted anything from the shops during our stay. The weekend was to mark a milestone birthday and provided great memories for us. We will definitely stay again if/when we revisit the area. Thank you Caryn!

  • We spent a very relaxing few days at the colour house. Caryn is a wonderfully thoughtful host. The colour house is a great base to be able to explore Kendal and the Lakes.

  • I’ll start with one word! Wow! What a fantastic space! Our little family trio had the most wonderful little trip to Kendal for a two night stay in in winter! Caryn was so welcoming and made our stay really comfortable! To finish off our break we woke to a picture perfect view of snowy rooftops and chimneys on the Sunday! Made it very difficult to leave!! Thanks for having us Caryn! Looking forward to booking with you again in the new year!! Kim, James abs little Ralph x x x

  • Huge warm, homely but stylish living room with WiFi, big TV, DVDs, Netflix, books, magazines and games galore, lots of sofas and pouffes on which to sit or sprawl and a fine view over the rooftops of Kendal to the fells beyond. Free standing bath, double sink, lovely soap and shampoo.. Mattress had a bit of a dip but otherwise comfortable, hot water bottles provided. Caryn was an excellent host, providing breakfast, homemade bread, flowers, washing up our pots and even asking us if we needed any shopping doing! With a extra supplement for my partner on top of cleaning fees etc. the place was a bit more than I'd normally pay for somewhere without cooking facilities but a lovely treat for Christmas.

My stone terrace cottage is located in one of Kendal's conservation areas and 5 minutes walk to the station, town centre and the river Kent. The cottage is a cosy, quiet, relaxing space with an enclosed wildlife garden at the back of the house.
The house was built in 1820 as an old weavers house apparently. I renovated it 8 years ago with an open plan kitchen and lounge with wood burning stove. The kitchen has an fan oven and gas hob, fridge and freezer, kettle, toaster and microwave, and everything you need to cook meals or enjoy a take-out. There is a small kitchen table and chairs that you can get out and use in the house or for breakfast in the garden. The log burner is a treat in winter with a free supply of wood. There is Wifi and a selection of books and maps, allowing you to make the most of your stay. The bedroom is a good size with a comfortable double bed, wardrobe (with full length mirror inside), chest of draws and chair. The bathroom has a bath/shower combination. The enclosed garden out the back gets the sun in the morning till early evening in the summer so you can sit have breakfast or dinner and watch the bees buzzing around wildflowers, pick herbs for cooking or alpine strawberries for breakfast if there are any left :) There's bike (or general kit) storage out the back or in the cellar should you need it. Also bike cleaning facilities. You will have a parking permit for the local area so can park for free either outside the house or nearby. It does get full late afternoon when residents come back from work so you might have to park in one of the adjacent streets. its fine to load outside the door though. Everyone does it.
Kendal is an old market town situated in what i think is one of the most beautiful parts of the country – the Lake District. Its also within 30 minutes drive of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, making it a perfect base for outdoor sport addicts, walkers and sightseers....

South Lakeland Leisure Village is a wonderful 5 star rated holiday park on the edge of the Beautiful Lake District. This 4 bedroom lodge is wonderfully situated for couples and for family holidays. The lodge is situated on the side of the lake with a decking area, with a fantastic sunken hot tub. The hot tub belongs exclusively to the lodge and is not shared. There is Wi-Fi, of around 3-5Mb included free of charge. The site has a Gym and a family friendly pool, for an additional charge.
There are 4 bedrooms. 1 is a 5' queen bed, 1 is a 4'6" double and there are 2 rooms, both with 2 single beds in them. The master bedroom has an en suite shower room with a toilet, shower and sink.
The lodge is only 30 minutes from Lake Windermere and the whole of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are within driving distance.
  • Me and my friends had a fantastic stay here - Kev was extremely helpful and very quick to respond, going above and beyond anything that was asked 😊 The lodge was immaculate and had everything we needed, exactly as described, making our stay care free and super enjoyable! It’s very close to Windermere too where we enjoyed a fab day out We would definitely stay here again!

South facing, small, traditional Shepherd's hut with views, internal shower, compost toilet, log burner, kitchen area. 2 mins by car to Kendal. Scenic walks from doorstep. Kendal is an attractive market town with an eclectic range of shops, cafes, restaurants, and a lively Arts Centre with a cinema and theatre.
Please note we are NOT on a bus route. You must have a car or rely on taxis into town (2 mins). Our Shepherd's Hut is a unique place to stay: It is situated on the junction between the rural road to Underbarrow and a bridle- way named Gamblesmire Lane which leads to Cunswick Scar and Scout Scar, so it's ideally situated for country walks. It is fully insulated with sheep's wool so is snug, comfortable and warm. There is a microwave, electric kettle, toaster, indoor shower and a compost lavatory. There is a thermostatically controlled electric heater and a Hobbit wood burning stove for cosy evenings in. The stove heats the hut up very effectively, and we often chuckle when people light it on a warm evening and then fling open all the doors and windows when it gets as hot as a sauna. A good tip is to open the little window above the top bunk as this created a cooling draught of air without being too cold. You can walk out of the door and along Gamblesmire Lane, a footpath that leads to Scout Scar and Cunswick Fell. There are bird feeders beside the window so you can watch the birds at close range, including woodpeckers, and will wake to bird song. As the hut faces south east, you will see the sun rise over the hills and the valley below. On clear nights, you'll see the moon rise. At night, owls hoot in the coppice nearby and in summer there are bats flitting about the hut. At present, the shower works but isn't very powerful as there's not enough water pressure. There is cold water in the bathroom sink and hot water in the living area. In frosty weather the water supply has to be turned off and guests use the bathroom facilities in the house. There is bottled water in the hut. There's a seating area outside the hut with a table and chairs and a small firepit. It is situated in it's own little garden, quite near to our house where we also host Airbnb guests and are on hand to help you with suggestions for exploring the wonderfully green, gentle hills of the Lyth and Winster valley with their numerous green lanes and lovely views. The hut is next to the fell footpath gate and there are horse riders, mountain bikers and walkers going by at times, so expect to enjoy saying hello and having a pleasant chat. In summer, there are Lakeland Hound Trail races up the fell. This is a traditional Lakeland sport and very exciting to watch if you get the chance. (It has nothing to do with fox hunting, by the way). The living space in the hut is 7 feet by 16 feet, so it's about the same size as a small towing caravan but with much more charm and character! Shoes off indoors, please! Don't drain crockery on the lovely wooden sink top. Please dry up with one of our best tea towels instead!
Please note, that WE ARE NOT ON A BUS ROUTE and you will need a car to get here from Kendal. There is a car rental next to Kendal station. Public transport will take you to the main tourist areas, but not to the most beautiful and scenic. It is also very slow and frustratingly infrequent. Convenient as a base for the southern Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, our hut is in a secluded position in our garden with easy parking on the driveway. There is a scenic footpath beside it named Gamblesmire Lane that leads to Cunswick Scar, Scout Scar and footpaths to Underbarrow and Crook. Kendal market town is a 2 minute drive by car or a 40 minute walk across the Scar. It has lots of interesting small shops, a market on Wednesday and Saturday, a fabulous Climbing Wall, the Brewery Arts Centre, interesting historic buildings and yards and excellent cafes. There is also The Museum of Lakeland Life and Abbot Hall Art Gallery. Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall are a few miles to the south of the town. There are 5 award winning country inns that serve great food within a 10 to 20 minute scenic car journey of the hut. The nearest, at Underbarrow 10 minutes away is The Black Labrador. There is also a rural pizza delivery service, if you fancy a night in and a take away.
  • A fantastic and adorable hut with all the amenities and essentials you could possibly need for w relaxing and cosy visit. Tucked up on the hills high above Kendal in Cumbria it was the perfect little getaway and pit stop on our journey. Surrounded by wildlife and the hosts friendly cat, you really feel the gentle atmosphere here. Everything was wonderfully clean and tidy with provisions for every eventuality. Even Pre warmed and boiled kettle waiting upon arrival! Couldn’t ask for more.

  • Beautiful hut, stunning location, great little set up with microwave, kettle, toaster and mini fridge. A lovely spot and a lovely host!

  • The most magical place. Susan is an outstanding host. Accepted our last minute booking and welcomed us to an exceptionally cosy and picturesque little home with the log fire lit and all of the thought little touches. Wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back! Thank you x

  • Came for one night as a little get away for mine and my boyfriend’s anniversary. Susan was very quick at responding once I had booked my stay and was extremely helpful and accommodating once we had arrived (thank you for putting on the fire for us). The cabin is absolutely dreamy and a lovely, well thought out design. It’s very cosy and heats up really well once you get the fire going. The cabin is well located if you’re going to be exploring the Lake District. Overall we had a brilliant, relaxing stay. The extra touches of the bread and various jams/marmalade’s Susan provided was very thoughtful!

  • Just spent the weekend here, was absolutely amazing! Lovely little hut, very cosy and perfect for a weekend away whilst exploring different parts of the Lake District. Susan was an absolutely brilliant host, very friendly and helpful throughout! Would definitely recommend!

  • Extremely cosy Shepherds Hut designed with relaxation in mind. Loved the extra touches of fresh bread, coffee and other treats.

    Lauren2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent stay, the shepherd's hut is a lovely little space in a beautiful part of the world! Would highly recommend.

    Jamie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Second time staying in Susan’s Shepherd’s Hut, and we enjoyed it even more due to the wonderfully cosy Hobbit stove! Susan goes out of her way to make the stay as comfortable as possible - she heated up the hut when we arrived late after work in total pea soup, and again when it stormed the day after. Little extra touches make this space truly magical, from milk and water in the fridge, a bottle of wine and cheese at arrival, butter and fresh bread with jams and cereals out, to being super responsive and helpful with local tips. We can’t wait to stay again!

You I had great times being a guest through airbnb before I began hosting and I want my guests to have a great time being here too. I like meeting people and finding out about their lives and travels. I live separately so guests can relax and enjoy the privacy of their own home from home. But I'm also only next door so I'm usually on hand to offer advice about places to go or if you need help or there is anything which needs sorting out. I also have friends who help me with cleaning and they are close by too if by any chance I'm out of town. Kendal is a market town on the edge of the Lake District. • Very nice spacious ground floor of big Victorian house near Kendal centre. Lovely walk up to castle behind house and across river at bottom of road. Comfy beds, nice big kitchen, lovely and warm. Friendly helpful co-host Merv was on site and nice touches included lovely loaf, jam and milk. Highly recommended

  • The hosts left us bread and milk which was fantastic for when we arrived. There was lots of space in the living room and two double bedrooms. Kitchen is fully equipped and the location is great for a short walk into the middle of town. Really recommend it.

  • Lovely space suitable for a small family located seconds away from Kendal Castle and a stones throw to the town centre, just what we were after. Also if your looking for a place to stay with small animals this is a perfect place. Little Bruce our French bulldog loved his time too. Rachel’s Kendal retreat get the thumbs up from me.

  • Had a lovely stay at Rachel’s place which is very quiet, comfortable and clean. Easy access to the Main Street of Kendal. Would love to stay here again.

  • Rachel’s place was perfect for us. The accommodation was situated in a quiet road about 10 minutes’ walk to the centre of Kendal. It was warm, cosy, exceptionally clean and beautifully furnished with little quirky touches. Kendal is a lovely little town with plenty of choice for eating and drinking. We had a lovely time and will definitely return.

  • Rachel’s place was perfect for our weekend away with our toddler. It’s gorgeous - spacious with lots of character. Rachel and Merv responded to my messages quickly, which made booking easy. I’d recommend staying here if you’re thinking of booking a break in Kendal. It’s in a lovely, quiet part of town.

My place is close to Lake District, family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space, the people, and the neighbourhood. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets). Please enquire about pets as we do allow dogs, but there is a small fee.
Beautiful countryside location! The property is surrounded by very beautiful views. The house is located between Kendal and Sedbergh and is close to the Lake District. The house itself is huge with 4 large family bedrooms. The main family room has one super king size and is en suite. There are two more family bedrooms both with a double bed and a single bed in them., then the 4 th bedroom has a king size bed, all bedrooms are very spacious. There is a large living room with a real log burning fire and a large dining area
Very beautiful countryside close to the Lake District and to Yorkshire Dales. The property is a short car journey from Kendal and Sedbergh in the opposite direction.
  • We stayed as a group of 9 friends to celebrate a birthday, the house was perfect. It was spacious and the hot tub was great and it was immaculately cleaned. Julie showed us into the property and explained how to use the oven, the heating etc. Dogs roamed round the property (which we loved) as the farm was next door. It was a 20 minute drive to Kendal centre. Thanks julie, hopefully we will stay again in the future!

  • Absolutely outstanding! Feels like a beautiful home with fresh flowers and little touches everywhere. Great location for exploring the lakes and dales but to be honest we didn’t want to leave; just enjoyed relaxing in this beautiful home. Will definitely be back!

    Katie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The house was just perfect for a family party - something for everyone. It had everything we needed and the little touches, such as the fresh flowers & basket of logs for the fire made it feel really special. The thoughtful addition of the robes for the hot tub meant that even Storm Dennis couldn’t prevent us from daily hot tub time!

    Kim2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to help celebrate my 21st. The house is gorgeous and in a very scenic location. Would stay here again!

    Eleanor2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful farmhouse and you will not be disappointed should you visit. There was 9 of us and fitted us all comfortably. Pool table for the boys and hot tub for the rest of the family and a nice little sing along on the piano. Great spot away from the hustle and bustle with amazing views. You will not be disappointed with this little gem.

This is a cosy private room in a terraced house 5 minutes walk away from central Kendal. You will be easy reach of cafes, the castle, the beautiful river & the brewery arts centre. The space is shared with my partner Michelle & the dog, you have access to all the communal spaces & are welcome to cook. Think hostel simplicity! We are a lived in house so spaces will not be sparkling clean but hygienic 😊 Your bedding & towels always laundered but never ironed 😊 on street parking available.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and laundry facilities. A free continental breakfast of cereal and toast is included not to mention as much tea, coffee, chai, herbal tea etc as you like. You are more than welcome to use the kitchen to cook, we have oil, spices etc that you are more than welcome to use. There is no dishwasher unfortunately so the only downside is the washing up :) If you want to get here early or make the best of your last day you can leave your luggage in our front room, as long as the room is vacated by 11 we're not fussy.

  • We visited Sunnyside cottage for a long weekend, we had an amazing time - would recommend to anyone! It has been decorated so beautifully inside, the cottage was so well presented and you can clearly see that a lot of thought has gone into the whole place. The coffee machine and Alexa were additional extras that we loved, as well as the hot tub! Barbon village is lovely as well, on Lee & Richard’s recommendation we booked in for the Friday night bistro evening at The Churchmouse which was fab - definitely worth a visit! We will definitely be back to Barbon!

    Ellie2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful cottage to spend a romantic weekend in! Everything we could have hoped for had been provided. I loved the mix of the modern and old features in what was a very cosy space. Our only regret was not staying another night. We would fully recommend staying here and would love to come back another time in the near future. Also Barbon, is a wonderful little village with very welcoming locals.

It is a beautiful, peaceful space with luxury amenities and the most thoughtful touches. Everything we could have possibly needed for a perfect, relaxing getaway was right there. Lee and Richard are brilliant hosts - on hand to answer any questions or help if required. The hot tub and bath tub were luxury additions which made the stay extra special, not to mention the most comfortable bed and luxury linen and towels. We loved absolutely everything ... can it recommend Sunnyside cottage enough!!

  • Cosy and friendly place to stay in Kendal, convenient for Oxenholme station on the West Coast mainline (especially as Ruth was kind enough to give me a lift to the station on the morning of my departure). This was a brief working visit for me, so I didn't have time to explore the surrounding countryside; but if I had done, I'm sure Ruth's local knowledge and the range of maps and guides that she provides in the room would have been a great help. Ruth is a generous and warm host and it was a pleasure to stay with her.

  • Such a gorgeous space! The Potting Shed is the most beautiful Air bnb we have ever stayed in. The location is perfect and isn’t too far away from the village but at the same time far away enough to enjoy the peaceful countryside! Derek was amazing and was there to make sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!

  • We had a lovely few days at the Potting Shed - such a lovely, well equipped hideaway. It was just what we needed and there were lots of suggestions for local walks and pubs around the area. Derek was very accommodating and the hamper of treats was a great addition. Thank you

  • The Potting Shed is a wonderful place to stay based just outside of the Lake District (about a 15 minute drive to Lake Windermere). It’s set on a farm, but is really modern and has everything you need to make home cooked meals. The bed is really comfortable, as is the couch and the shower is amazing. We were forced to remain indoors all weekend due to the weather, but that wasn’t a problem at all, as it’s a really nice place to stay. Would highly recommend this property.

The area is known for its wildflowers too. There are many beautiful walks nearby suitable for those who just like a stroll to those who like to be out for hours. Beetham Fairy steps is a lovely walk from the cottage, remember to make your wish whilst there. Or follow the beautiful coastline to Arnside and savour a delicious treat from The Old Bakehouse. Arnside Knott with its stunning views across Morecombe bay with the lake district mountains behind has been attracting visitors for over 100 years. In this designated area of natural beauty there is always something to marvel at in nature. All this and within a 30 minute drive you can be exploring lake Windermere. Of course, with the quietness of the cottage, you may just decide to curl up with a great book. The choice is yours. Guest access Guests have the whole cottage to themselves. That includes the kitchen, open plan lounge dining area, two bedrooms, family bathroom, nature garden and parking. Other things to note The master bedroom is accessible via the bunk bedroom. We therefore recommend the cottage for couples and families with children who this arrangement suits. Please use the cottage like your home. Well behaved dogs accepted for a fee with the owner’s approval.
Walks are available straight from the front door. Nesteled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty let yourself get back to nature with walks or biking straight from the cottage, or the Lakes. With Windemere just 25 minutes away it is a great place to explore the Lake district as well as Silverside and Arnside's AONB. Cumbria, England, United Kingdom Guests come to Rock Cottage to experience the beautiful outdoors. Forest and coastal walks in an Area of Outstanding Beauty with limestone pavements and rare wildlife from the doorstep, the pretty village of Arnside with possibly the best sunsets in the world just a walk or short drive away, and the main attractions of the Lake District within a thirty minute drive. You don’t need to leave the cottage to see the huge range of birdlife in the garden and surrounding woodland, and if you’re lucky you’ll spot deer browsing in the woods too. For even more wildlife, Leighton Moss RSPB wildlife reserve is very close by. There’s a great dog-friendly pub on the coast just a few minutes stroll from the cottage, and a great choice of other pubs and eateries within easy reach, most of which are also dog friendly. For practical purposes, a supermarket, petrol, and choice of take aways in the small town of Milnthorpe just ten minutes from the cottage.

Rob and Sam are quick to reply and the cottage is clean and well stocked. We loved the welcome pack which had goodies for us and the dogs. We would stay again

  • We had a great stay at the cottage! Fantastic location to walk directly from the cottage into the woods, fairy steps and to Beatham. Close to everything and, despite the weather, we had a fantastic time! Thanks.

  • We had a great time here at Rob and Sam’s cottage. They were exceptional at keeping in contact if you needed anything. We really felt like we were in our own place. The welcome goodie box was a really nice touch too. The place is clean, warm, and cosy, especially with the wood burner. This is a great place for families or just a couples get away weekend.

  • Me and my partner came to stay with our miniature dachshund Otto to celebrate our 4year anniversary. The welcome and hospitality provided my Jackie and John was amazing - such a warm and approachable couple! We did not have a long stay so we will need to come back to make the most of their suggestions for walks and days out! The location was perfect - not far from Kendals centre, and we drove to Ambleside and Grasmere on the same day - it was a perfect day out !

    Corinne2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely welcome from both Jackie and John. An amazing set up. We would definitely recommend. Perfect for taking a puppy we were at ease the whole time.

  • A warm comfortable base for 2, with lots of small thoughtful touches. The breakfast, tea, coffee, bread and milk provisions to start us off were great, the home produced eggs were a surprise bonus. Clean and well equipped, plenty of space for the 2 of us. An ideal base we used to explore and enjoy the Lake District in a cold and wet spell of weather, but it did not stop us enjoying our stay.

  • My husband and I have traveled all over the world, and Jackie & John’s place is the best Airbnb we have ever stayed in! Absolutely outstanding hospitality, local recommendations, lovely treats, and a super comfy bed. You will feel as if you’re at home during your stay. Jackie and John are an absolute treasure and I assure you, you will feel the same way once you visit. We cannot wait to go back! Be sure to go to Chester’s for the blackberry scones!

  • Fabulous little place tucked away in a quiet spot in Kendal. Cosy, spotlessly clean with lots of thoughtful touches - fresh bread, milk, fruit, butter, eggs, yoghurt and lots of other basics in situ. Spent Christmas here and were welcomed with mince pies and a Christmas card and some tasteful Christmas decorations. Plenty of parking space. Within walking distance of Kendal town centre (25 minutes), an Asda store and a handy corner shop ( 2 minutes away). Jackie and John are welcoming, friendly and caring hosts and Cooper, their dog, is a joy. Will certainly be returning.

  • What a great location in beautiful Kendal! Cannot speak highly enough about this beautiful old house nestled just outside the city center. Dave and Shirley are gracious hosts with accommodating hospitably, great knowledge of local history/sites and overall provide a welcoming presence. The days I stayed, it was quite rainy in Cumbria although the scenery in the nearby fells was nonetheless beautiful! I plan on staying at this location again. Thanks again Dave and Shirley!

You can expect a cheerful welcome from hosts David and Shirley, as well as a relaxing stay in comfortable and peaceful surroundings. The accommodation is clean and well-appointed with satellite TV and free wi-fi provided. A great location to explore a variety of areas such as the Lake District, the western side of the dales and arnside. It had everything we needed and our helpful host Victoria was on hand whenever we needed her. • Our stay was just what we needed - secluded, quiet luxury nestled in the Lakes but off the tourist path yet a stones throw from the lakes themselves. It was a lovely place to return to after a day of walks and fresh air and the bath was absolutely gorgeous as was the unspoilt views.

  • A fabulous place to stay, easy to get to, in a very beautiful part of the lakes, excellent pub recommendation -the black Labrador, 20 minutes walk over the fields. The bothy was brilliant and well decorated and very homely. We had a great stay.

  • Perfect in every way! If you’re looking for a cosy, idyllic, quiet cottage that’s dog friendly in the Lakes, you will not find a better one than this. We stayed for 6 nights (wish it had been more), Kendal is a 15 min drive for your shopping, great location for exploring the Lakes. Excellent local pubs nearby. Jo and Russ were great. Absolutely loved our stay, thank you again and we will be back.

For our valued heroes on the front line we offer our clean and private entire space. Self check-in, reserved parking, good wifi and woodburner with plenty of logs. Washing machine and clothes drier in the house. On demand boiler with an extra deep bathtub for a well deserved soak.
Perfect for Children: What a great place for kids who absolutely loved the swing off the ceiling rope swing and slide. A magical quirky place to stay! Perfect for children. My daughter loved having an indoor playground upstairs. Our little boy loves the swing and slide. Our 6 year old daughter thought it was amazing! kids had an amazing time. I'm sure they will be talking about it for a long time. The trampolines and swing are an excellent idea, certainly a fun house for children. We didn’t see the kids much; bonus. My children and 2 Little dogs certainly loved it. There are games, books and toys for children to use. My kids absolutely loved staying at this home. Amazing Location: So much to see and do local or a little drive away and a shop that sells all your essentials across the road! A really short walk to the train / town centre. Very good location with riverside walks, restaurants and shops on the doorstep. Short train ride to Windermere for Beatrix potter museum and rowing/ motor boat hire. Responsive Hosts: The communication with our hosts was superb. Jade was a great host, very helpful, great communication. Thank you for decorating the house in birthday banners and balloons for my daughter. She loved it. Rest assured: We’re on call 24 hours a day and have helpers a few minutes away so any little hitches will soon be sorted. Free Reserved Parking Allocated parking behind our adventure space. Great Value Fantastic accommodation at a fantastic price. All in all this was great value for money and we had a fantastic weekend. A good price and good value for money. Excellent Heating Underfloor heating and MASSIVE Bruno fire, so easy to be nice and toasty in November. We have a large wood stack in the house to make sure you'll be nice and warm. Bruno was a highlight for the grown ups, and very effective in heating the place up despite the snow outside. We loved Bruno the log burner! Safe bathing for kids. Unique design allows young children to arrive after a muddy walk and splash about in the bathtub supervised by a parent cooking dinner. This has saved us hours over the years and we consider it a huge safety feature. The toilet, of course, is out of sight and there is a curtain to cover the whole bathroom area for older children or adults. Please be mindful that an extra deep bathtub means an extra high edge. The bath may be difficult for older guests to get in and out of. Trampoline beds: The trampoline bed and hammock was a hit with my kids. Let the kids bounce to their heart's content. Head height is best in the top floor. Black Light Fantasy World We've hired a local artist to turn our upper room into a magical fantasy land. Main blacklight switch on the stairs above the doll's house. Extra tube blacklight switches on the fittings. Your little darling's eyes will glow with delight. Indoor tunnel slide Whizz down to breakfast in style with our tunnel slide. Or race your friends, up the stairs, down the slide and round again. Fun, whatever the weather outside is doing. Washing machine and separate clothes drier both inside the house. Ideal after forest walks.
Castle Dairy opposite Eastern Balti across the road. Riverside pool, Sauna 100 yards. Convenience shop a few steps. Gooseholme park 1 minute away. Train station 3 minutes. Expect some traffic noise, particularly in the morning.

Here is a list just some of the places that are nearby and how long it should take you to drive to them: The village of Endmoor with its shop, bakery, pub and canal side walks...less than a mile Kendal, with great shops, restaurants, museums, arts centre and supermarkets... 10 mins Lake district National Park with all its attractions... 10 mins Yorkshire Dales National Park... 20 mins The coast... 10 mins - yes, strange but true! Silverdale is a walkers paradise. Amazing walks with stunning sea views. It is a place of outstanding natural beauty with hidden coves & rolling countryside
  • Fabulous views in a great location. Very convenient for local bird reserves. Hospitable host.

  • Joanne is a very friendly and relaxed hostess, she will help you with anything else you might need. Take it to the train station, charger that fits into English sockets, glass of wine, what to talk about, washing clothes? No problem! We even went dancing together! The room is beautiful, sparkling clean and very tastefully decorated. The best thing is the conservatory with views over the English countryside and the sea. He is just a gem! Silverdale itself is a picturesque village with shops, post office and two pubs, you can go for a leisurely stroll when the tide is out, even on the W, there is a bird watching reserve and very rare limestone cliffs in the forest - great! I really wanted to explore the whole area, but then I found Silverdale and surroundings so beautiful that I just stayed there (a week). I found it hard to drive away, and I'd like to come back. Thanks, Jo!
