Holiday Rentals in Newark-on-Trent

Just booked in Newark-on-Trent

I have met lots of really lovely people through letting my chapel out on Airbnb and it's been a great experience for me.
2 storey converted chapel, full of charm and character. Pretty mezzanine level with two bedrooms, one double and one single. Bathroom with bath with overhead shower. The ground floor is open plan and gloriously light. There is a well equipped kitchen, and a lovely living/dining area. Outside, there is a paved garden. Please note that there is no parking on site. The safest option for parking is on a side street situated 200m away. Wireless broadband is good throughout the house. No smoking.
Bleasby is a picturesque and very welcoming village. The Jubilee Ponds make for lovely walks and the River Trent is just a mile away. There is a super village pub and the local tea shop is well worth a visit. The Old Chapel is just 10 minutes’ drive to the lovely Georgian town of Southwell with its beautiful Minster. Look out for the Prebendal houses, named after the Minster's parishes. There are individual shops, cafes and restaurants, 3 independent award-winning pubs and the house where the original Bramley Apple tree still grows. The historic market town of Newark on Trent and the vibrant city of Nottingham are both within easy reach, or if you prefer meandering around gorgeous countryside and villages with welcoming country pubs, you might need more than a day!
  • Absolutely lovely little getaway and immaculately kept, I really can't fault any aspect. Thanks!

  • A really lovely place to stay with everything you might need and in a really nice area. Victoria is a lovely person and very helpful to :)

    Carl2015-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We didn’t meet Victoria, however the communication was great and she was in-touch straight away after we arrived to ensure that we had everything we needed. The photos depict the listing accurately, an excellent stay at this chapel. Would recommend. Thank you for accommodating us.

    Arron2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Chapel is a real home from home. Victoria the owner thinks of everything you could possibly need and it is spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds and a very well equipped kitchen. Victoria really does go that extra mile and we were delighted to find fresh crumpets, chocolate, Dorset cereal and some lovely shower gels and shampoos in the bathroom. Cannot recommend more highly as it is perfect for a stay and the area is really lovely. Very scenic and close to many historical sights. Southwell which is very close is a lovely little town. We were there on business but did take a day out to do some sight seeing and shopping, Very happy and we hope to visit again in the future.

    Christina2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful, full of character but incredibly comfortable and cosy. Would love to come back for another stay and spend longer. Thanks for the breakfast, far too generous!

    David2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the chapel for two nights after a friend's wedding in Nottingham and couldn't have been happier there. It's a great building in a charming village and Victoria made our stay extra special with little details like shortbread biscuits and other nice breakfast items. We would highly recommend it to others, and go back ourselves.

    Simon2014-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house, situated in a gorgeous English village. Recommended for any visitor, native or foreign. Excellent communication from host.

    Timothy2016-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Victoria's cottage in Bleasby is lovely. We had three nights there and found the cottage to be very comfortable and well appointed, with all mod cons and convenient to the local pub. The building itself is wonderful, being a 19th century chapel that has been very tastefully renovated into a comfortable and modern home. The surrounding area is also a delight, being a relatively short drive to the beautiful landscape and villages of the Peak District. I highly recommend Victoria's home.

My apartment is one of eight in a Georgian building in Newark centre. The apartment includes bedroom with en-suite, living room with dining area and kitchen. It is steps away to the Civil war museum, market place, castle, pubs and restautants.
My apartment is on the first floor of a converted Georgian building. It is immaculately decorated and extremely clean. The bedroom is a double with en-suite shower facility. The living space is open plan with two sofas, dining table with kitchen just off the living area. Another sofa sits in my quiet corner zone. TV and radio provided.
My apartment is in an excellent location for all that Newark has to offer. The newly opened Civil War Museum is just around the corner and will take 3 minutes to walk to the entrance. The market square is 1 minute away with markets held on Monday, Wednesday to Saturday inclusive. Newark Castle with its River Trent location is a 5 minute walk through the market square. Restaurants, cafes, bars, eateries and shopping abound; all within minutes walk from the apartment.
  • Absolutely lovely apartment right in the centre of Newark. The apartment was spotless. Would not hesitate to recommend. If I'm ever in Newark again I will definitely be staying at Lynn's place!

    Amy2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • A recently converted regency apartment right in the heart of Newark. Really clean and with all the expected facilities including dedicated parking which is quite a big deal when you see how central the place is. I would definitely come back!

  • Superb accommodation in the heart of Newark. Great hosts would highly recommend.

    Margaret2017-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Lynne's apartment. It is central to Newark and a couple of minutes walking distance to the town centre. Being able to park the car in the private car park near by was an absolute bonus and so convenient. Lynne is an excellent hostess. Communication was very good indeed and we liked the way they met us at a time to suit us for checking in. The flat is very comfortable and has everything you need. We had an excellent night's sleep in the comfortable bed. Despite being central to Newark, the flat is very quiet indeed. We very much enjoyed staying at the apartment and would highly recommend it.

  • Beautiful place to stay was here for 2 nights and can't fault the place such a lovely home and lovely host would Defo recommend staying here

  • Lynne and John went above and beyond. They collected me from the station, showed me all the places I needed to know, and made sure I knew where the buses were etc. The apartment is beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly clean. Couldn't ask for better hosts or a better stay. I'll definitely be back. Thanks again Lynne and John

    Kate 2016-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Immaculate accommodation, ideal location. Lynne went above and beyond expectations by transporting us to and from train station, and providing us with additional information relating to our stay in Newark. Do yourself a favour and stay here.

    Sandra2015-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very handy place to stay to explore Newark; I actually was unwell when it came to the day of the booking so we spend an evening in the flat with a take away, reading and playing board games as opposed to going out on the town but it was still enjoyable - a calm, clean, interesting place to be. Lynne and partner welcomed us and everything in the flat was either self explanatory or information provided. Thank you very much.

Welcome to our beautiful grade 2 listed Georgian home, birth house of the artist Sir William Nicholson, lots of history and interesting period details. Your room is a comfortable double with private facilities, you can use the lounge and garden. We have off street parking. Plenty to explore locally too.
This is a historic house, but also a lovely family home full of beautiful antique furniture and interesting detail. (The B and B business is already well established and has been awarded 4 stars by Visit England). We can be flexible and negotiate the price for longer stays.
This is a wonderful calm house in a quiet area, but only minutes away from the town centre. There are lots of restaurants and charming pubs within easy walking distance of the house.
  • Godfrey and Sylvia were most welcoming; and having our own separate sitting room was a most pleasant surprise. Their house, an easy walk from the centre of town is beautifully furnished and in sympathy with the period. We opted for the Continental breakfast which was exceedingly good and plentiful. Newark is an interesting, historic town which came further to life when Godfrey gave us a personal behind the scenes tour of the Town Hall during one of its rare Open Days.

    Nick2015-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • I was made to feel warmly welcome on my arrival by everyone in the house, including Jess, a very friendly dog :) I was swiftly shown to my lovely, comfortable room. The house met or exceeded my expectations, I particularly liked and enjoyed the lovely drawing room in which superb breakfasts were served to me on consecutive days. I can't think of anything Rowan could have improved upon. Many thanks!

    Chris2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Rowan was very helpful. We had a minor disaster with our rental car so did not get to meet Rowan personally. She had the room prepared and the heaters on for when we got in late at night, including lovely fluffy robes. We were a little disappointed that the room Rowan provided was not the one that we booked. It only had a sofa bed and the bathroom (although private) was quite a distance away. It also was next to the Grandfather clock which then proceeded to chime on the hour. On the positive side the house is huge and the room and bathroom was lovely and clean and very spacious. We certainly appreciated the trouble that Rowan went to.

    Ross2014-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rowan is very easy to communicate and very helpful. Room/bathroom is so clean. Nicely decorated house. Enjoyed staying there very much and happy to recommend any one to stay there.

  • Fantastic place to stay - absolutely beautiful!

    Brad2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • I don't know how to express our appreciation. Rowan and her family offered us so much. I believe all of them are angels. We had been feeling so warm in heart during days staying with them. Hope we could meet again somedays.

    Qi2015-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very short stay in this beautiful house. The hosts were lovely and very helpful. Our bedroom was great, and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was excellent! Such a great start to our day. Thank you so much for having us. We will definitely be back.

  • The bedroom was beautifully furnished, with lovely linen and the bed was very comfortable. Tea, coffee(cafetiere provided ), water and fresh milk were all in the room. There was also a hanging rail which was very useful. The spacious bathroom was next door. Paul provides good continental breakfast. It was a 5 -10 minute walk into the centre. The house is situated on a quiet road with plenty of parking. Paul is a very welcoming host.

  • Beautiful apartment in a great location. 1 minute walk into the market and town centre. The host, Rob was very accommodating and was always on hand to make sure that I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I have stayed in the apartment on and off for 7 weeks whilst on a work placement in Newark and it was like a home away from home. I didn't want to leave. The bed in particular is HUGE and very comfortable. There is a big television in a cosy lounge area and a lovely kitchen too. I highly recommend this beautiful place.

  • Very nice and quirky period property which was a great base for our visit to Newark! Friendly host too!

    Zenobia & James2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is located seconds from the town market square so perfect location. Rob was an exceptionally good host to communicate with throughout. With almost immediate responses to any questions. He was also very friendly. This little flat is very quirky. It has a real feel of the magical about it almost. However, it is a wee bit dated in places & in need of a few tiny upgrades if I’m honest. (The oven door needs a handle etc) but all in all it was very clean & comfortable, great value for money, great location & a lovely host. I would definitely recommend this flat & would also return happily in the future.

    Jennifer 2017-12-10T00:00:00Z

All with en-suite facilities.
Newark, a little-known but quietly beautiful market town, sits on the banks of the River Trent and is steeped in history. Being a Royalist stronghold, it was besieged during the English Civil War. Today, in more peaceful times, the town is internationally-famed among professional buyers and collectors for its antique shops and centres. It hosts the bi-monthly International Antique Fair at the Newark Showground, where other prestigious events and activities also regularly take place. St Mary Magdalene, Newark’s medieval parish church with its magnificent, towering octagonal spire, is one of the largest and finest parish churches in the country. A hole visible in the spire marks the spot where the shot from a Parliamentarian cannon purportedly struck the church in 1644 during the Civil War. Newark has something for everyone, whether it’s a visit to one the numerous retailers – both chain and independent – or to the thriving market, exploring the castle ruins, a river boat ride, a night of culture or entertainment at the Palace Theatre, a visit to the Newark Air Museum or to the upcoming (2015) new National Civil War Centre. • Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Pablo, promptly shown our room and then invited for coffee in the garden. I knew then, that we had chosen our BnB well! Pablo is a charming and an engaging host; attentive but not intrusive. Thank you for the restaurant recommendation, The Rushton was fantastic. Breakfast was delicious and a great treat to sample your homemade jams.:) Our tastefully decorated room was very relaxing, the bed and bed linens of high quality and very very comfortable. We couldn't be more pleaded with our stay at The Lions and highly recommend for anyone.

  • This is a very clean, comfortable and spacious house to stay in. The hosts are very welcoming and will help you with any information you need. They provide the little extras like welcome drink and even invited us to join them in the evening when we came back after a night out. Breakfast was excellent. We arrived by bicycle and they provided secure storage for the bikes and a place to dry our wet things. The location is good, near the town centre (10 minute walk) and pleasant garden to sit in should the weather allow!

    Diane2016-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic stay we had. Your walking distance from the main part of town. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We were greeted and offered a drink and we chatted in the beautiful back yard for a few hours when we arrived. Also so nice to have a great breakfast in the morning before heading out for the day.

  • Lovely Georgian property decorated to a high standard, lovely hosts who made us very welcome. We slept well in a really comfortable bed, breakfast was first class. Definitely would stay again and highly recommend.

  • The Lions was a fantastic B & B, it's set in a beautiful and spacious Georgian house which has clearly been complimented by John and Pablo's impeccable taste. The accommodation is of a very high standard, the breakfast was exceptional and the hosts were charming from our arrival to departure ! It's set in a prime location and I would recommend a stay here to anyone whilst visiting Newark. Thank you for your great hospitality and we will be recommending the Lions to our friends !

Very accommodating hosts and were given a glass of wine when arrived and hosts gave us loads local sights and tips. Breakfast was included and everything you wanted was included. Ever go to Newark stay here.

  • This is such an amazing B and B. One of the best we've stayed in. We had a double room on the top floor which overlooked their beautiful garden. We were looked after extremely well by Pablo and John. The bedroom was spacious and the breakfast was excellent. Our bathroom was also lovely. The B and B is within walking distance of the town centre which is also lovely. We really enjoyed our stay and we will definitely stay there again if we return to Newark. They even gave us a lift to the station when we were leaving. Thank you so much.

  • Beautiful property, very clean and high spec finish. Had everything you could need. Comfortable beds, good shower and cozy sofa. Lovely sociable space for a country retreat and very quiet! Debbie was a fab host and responded very quickly to any queries. Great location if you want to escape from the busy city and just up the road from a fabulous spa which we enjoyed too! Would love to visit again and recommend highly.

  • This was our first time using airbnb and we hoped that it would be just like staying with friends at a luxurious house in the country. As it turned out, that's exactly what it was like. Mark and Debbie were excellent hosts, they made breakfast for us every morning, greeted us with a bottle of wine when we arrived, provided plenty of food and drink and made sure that there was something to suit all of our dietary requirements. They took an interest in what we were doing but were always ready to give us space if we needed it. Having them to talk to made our trip even more enjoyable. Communication before we arrived was also good, we had to add another person to our party at the last minute, and they made sure the booking was updated promptly and that we could find the place when we arrived. The accommodation was lovely, a whole wing of the house with a living room/kitchen, a bathroom and three large bedrooms, each decorated in a different style. Everything was impeccably clean and comfortable. The price of our stay compared favourably to a hotel, and we got a lot more for our money, so the value for money was also excellent. We came to attend an annual event nearby, and will definitely want to stay here when we attend next year.

  • This place was a exactly fulfilled its description. A luxury, rural retreat! Our hosts were friendly and helpful. They greeted us with a bottle prosecco and there was a delicious breakfast available. The accommodation was faultless and to a high spec. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending it

  • A great place and a lovely host! Very good for business travellers. All the amenities and hospitality made our guys feel home, even though they were working away. I would certainly book again!

    Anna2017-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay in Debbie's 'rural retreat'. The accommodation was beautiful; clean, spacious and very tastefully presented. Debbie was a fantastic host. Making sure we had everything we needed but also leaving us to it. The food left for breakfast was lovely and the Prosecco was a really kind thought. It was my Birthday and my friend contacted Debbie without me knowing to ask about putting some balloons and gifts and cake in the accommodation before we all arrived. Debbie was very happy to oblige. This made the weekend even more special for me as I had a lovely surprise on entering the accommodation. Thank you Debbie.

I would definitely stay again and would recommend her to anyone that would like to stay in the Farndon/Newark area. Her house was very stylish, neat and tidy but also very homely. I will stay again in the future if she is not fully booked. For anyone that wants to stay in the area her sister is on ‘Airbnb’ too and also has the same attributes. Thanks Angela and family.

She provided useful information on all the nearby areas and helped providing and booking taxi's etc. The breakfast laid out for us in the morning was delightful the whole house in general was wonderfully laid out and in immaculate condition. I cannot recommend staying here enough. Thank you so much again Georgina! Steven xx

  • I requested to stay at Georgina's for the week as geographically it suited me best for travelling to work. Georgina answered my request very quickly therefore gave me plenty of time to get organised for my trip. Georgina's property is really lovely, especially at this time of year and there's many places to walk around close by to the property, Newark town being less than 2 miles away also. Georgina is friendly, approachable & informative as well as easy going. Access to kitchen & washing utilities was greatly appreciated as well as the bed and bedroom I was allocated being seriously comfortable. The shower was also good. Had a really enjoyable, easy & fairly priced stay and would 110% return.

  • Comfortable room, nice and quiet - perfect for somewhere to stay while working! Julie made me feel very welcome. Before my stay she made sure to warn me that there were improvements being made to the house and it no longer look liked the photos, but this was not a problem at all!

    Emma2015-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely stay (again, it was my second stay at hers)

    Christian2015-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Julie responded promptly, and made sure we knew the way around the house. Her home became a rest&recuperation stop on our windswept (that December weekend) way back to the south, one we needed badly not even realizing it. The kitchen looks different right now, redesign in progress around the house: for us absolutely no issue. The bedroom is exactly what you want: hotel-like, lovely, clean and quiet - all we needed. PS: I think the sofa oddly placed by the kitchen/garden window seems to have some relaxing powers - as least for me! And that was with bad weather outside!

    Dan2015-06-15T00:00:00Z

    Mark2015-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • I am terribly sorry not being able to recommend staying with Julie. I am a great fan of the entire airbnb concept, and this is the first bad experience I have ever had and I am not picky in any way. The entire house was a complete mess including living room, hall ways, and bathroom...and the kitchen was full of half empty wine bottles, and the front yard looked like war zone. Julie explained that she was refurbishing her house - but apparently with no desire to finish anytime soon, and she probably should have done it one room at the time and not all at once. Bottom line is that the place is not fit for renting out and charging money for until refurbishment has been finished. Sorry :-(

  • Really comfortable nights sleep here. Wonderful hosts welcomed me with a cuppa tea and offered something to eat if I wanted but not hungry. Lovely house in a very quiet area, very clean, modern. Would certainly recommend anyone to stay here if in the area. Tea and coffee making in the room with a flask of cool, real milk in the room. A private bathroom and even bath robes provided if wanted. Ian was up early to make me breakfast, but I'm not a breakfast person so a quick coffee and out on the road early. Thanks Ian for getting up so early.

    Christopher2017-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Ian's home is lovely and in a beautiful location. I stayed at Ian's place as it was a short distance from a wedding I was attending at nearby Stubton Hall. Ian communicated well with me from the beginning and made arrangements for me to check in early although he was not sure whether or not he would be home. Although my stay was very short, I only needed a bed to crash in for the night, and the bed at Ian's was very comfortable. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, and I had sole use of the main bathroom as Ian has his own en suite. Knowing that I was likely to be a little worse for wear, Ian and Morag even left a bottle of water for me in the morning. A very much appreciated gesture indeed! Ian's place is in a fairly secluded location, but for anyone attending a function at Stubton Hall it is ideally placed and I would highly recommend!

  • We stayed at Ian's for a wedding at stubton hall - it's only two miles away so it's a great location. Taxis cost about £10 each way due to having to come from Newark, so worth bearing in mind. The room was lovely and clean with a super king size bed, they had dressing gowns and towels all ready as well! We got in at midnight which wasn't a problem as Ian gave us a key. Would definitely recommend. Thank you!
