“While we feel there is a lot to see and do in Edinburgh City Centre, we have been asked by several guests about doing day trips outside the city. Most guests book to go up north and visit the highlands (areas such as Loch Ness and Cairngorms) however we feel that most areas of the highlands are a long way for a 1 day trip. So we thought that telling people about North Berwick and East Lothian is a great alternative. Its a good option for a day trip as you can jump on a train at Waverly station and be there in around 40 mins. This is a nice alternative to the highlands as you can spend longer looking around (last train back is , is a long long way to go for 1 day. North Berwick High street, Harbour and beach (5 mins walk from NB station) is a lovely place to have a wander around. There is the Lobster shak (in the summer) for a lunch, or Herringbone for a nice relaxed afternoon by the sea. All in all a lovely area to see. We loved it so much, we moved there !! ”

Fish & Chip Shop
“This place is a little far out of main Edinburgh. But North Berwick is well worth the visit. I would recommend going when its sunny though. The lobster shack is just that, a shack on the beach that sells all kinds of seafood treata. My favs are the grilled lobster and the double cooked chips and the crab and prawn cocktail. There's also the seabird centre and boat trips around the harbour so you can really make a day of it!”
