  • the house was very nice and comfortable. It fulfilled completely our expectations.

  • Ah Camden... What a lovely, historic town and Margaret has the perfect place to stay! Conveniently and centrally located in a quiet neighborhood, comfortable, full kitchen, sun porch, with all that I could have wanted in her perfect little cottage. I so hated to leave and look forward to a return visit Thank you for the opportunity to simply be.

  • What a great place! Cute and large enough for 2 people to stay comfortably. Is in a great, quiet location, close to downtown Camden. Overall, a fantastic experience.

  • A Cozy Village Cottage indeed! My girlfriend and I just spent two nights in Camden at the wonderful cottage, and it was a great experience. Camden itself is a great oceanside Maine town, and the cottage is a prefect place to be situated in order to explore. It was located in a quiet neighborhood, close to Route #1 (to explore Rockport to the south and Lincolnville to the North) and nice walk to Camden's harbor and beautiful downtown. Margaret is a great host, and everything was ready for our arrival. We had a excellent time staying at the charming cottage, and our definitely recommend it!

  • Perfect space for a get away for two!

  • It was a lovely cottage with cute character. We recommend it for 2 people.

    Tori2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was simply charming with everything we needed. Located a short distance from downtown Camden meant it was convenient while being private and quiet.

    Kim2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret was extremely responsive and friendly. The cottage is a perfect getaway for two in a great location within walking distance to the downtown area. The porch is great for sipping coffee with mountain views. Highly recommend staying at the cottage and checking out Camden.

Beautiful hand built cabin, overlooking Cotton Pond. Ten minutes from Camden, the sailing mecca of the east coast. Solar lights, (we are off the grid) gravity fed kitchen water, gas-hot water outdoor shower, outhouse overlooking the forest. Hiking trails everywhere! Swimming across the road on Hobbs Pond.
Our cabin is placed overlooking a pond, the setting is beautiful, peaceful, and private. The way the cabin is set up, helps you reconnect with a simpler way of life. (Our cabin is not set up to charge electronic devices.)
We love the natural setting, the peace and quiet and the wildlife. We own property across the dirt road, on Hobbs pond, that has kayaks, a canoe and is a beautiful swimming pond.
  • We had an incredible experience staying at Julie and Steve' s hand built wooden cabin. We very much appreciate their generosity and will always have good memories of the beautiful house, the pond, the boats, the immaculate nature and, of course, jazz after 6 p.m.

  • Book it! Great place. They have thought of everything you need to relax. Steven was so helpful when we arrived. Wonderful couple of days to rest our heads. And there’s something refreshing about showering with nature. Tranquility.

  • Beautiful cabin in Maine. Pictures don't do it justice! Julie and Steve are amazing hosts and great people! Highly recommend booking this place if you're in need of an escape!

  • My partner and I stayed here for three days, and we wish we had stayed for much longer. This place is a magical little get-away, tucked back into the woods but not too far from the Midcoast towns of Camden and Rockland, with tons of delicious foodie restaurants and plenty of things to do. Julie and Steve are amazing hosts; when we arrived at the cabin, there were freshly picked flowers on the table! They have thought of everything guests could need from the well-appointed kitchen, maps of the area with lists of nearby adventures, and gas lamps perfectly situated for cozy evening reading. This was the highlight of our weeklong trip to Maine and we hope to come back again soon!

    Molly2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was such an amazing cabin in such a beautiful peaceful setting. Steve and Julie were so helpful. Cooking dinners with fresh picked herbs from the herb garden was so lovely. The fresh flowers in vases everywhere were such a nice touch, especially the one in the outhouse:) Swimming in Hobbs pond was so fun. Honestly such an incredible experience at this cabin! Thank you for sharing this space with the public! Kim&Ryan Portland Oregon.

    Kim2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the cabin was a dream. Every single detail of this place was just bursting with charm and comfort. So artful. Steve and Julie were kind and accomodating. Steve reccomended a great radio station and one day we came back to the cabin from exploring to find that we were left baby tomatos from Julies garden. (Thank you.) We explored Camden(20mins away) and Portland(2hrs away) and found ourselves sort of bored with the tourist aspects and wanting to be back at the cabin. The weather was perfect at the end of august and we were lucky to arrive before the rain took away the fog (so thick it's no surprise where stephen king brewed up "the mist") We thank Steve and Julie and their son for sharing this cabin. A most needed vacation location that focuses and thrives off of simplicity and the necessity of nature. (The outdoor shower was a treasure.) We stayed 5 days and thought that still wasn't enough.

    Jennah2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Julie's cabin is a piece of art. I loved how thoughtfully it was designed, and how comfortable it was as a result. The operating instructions were clear and simple, and Julie was very kind to keep in touch over the weekend via text to make sure everything was running smoothly. This is truly a beautiful place; I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away for some peace and quiet.

    Boone2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Julie and Steve were amazing hosts. We ended up spending less time than planned but we had a delicious dinner at theirs our first night over and they were such fantastic and generous company. They offered lots of help and made sure that we had everything we needed. The cabin itself is breathtakingly beautiful and was surprisingly comfortable. We barely noticed we were away from the amenities of modern living. We can't wait to return to Camden.

Rent our small one-room cabin on beautiful Cape Rosier. The cabin is on the edge of a field set back from our house, a 1 minute walk from Horseshoe Cove, one of the most beautiful coves in Maine. The Cove opens out to the stunning islands of East Penobscot Bay. With woodstove. Solar boat type shower. Swim off our pocket beach or dock. Kayak, canoe, paddle board & bicycle rentals are available. And the best part is you can do it all from our property without having to get in your car!
Rent our small one-room antique-filled cabin on beautiful Cape Rosier. Situated at Horseshoe Cove, one of the most beautiful coves in Maine according to the Cruising Guide to the New England Coast--it opens out to the stunning islands of East Penobscot Bay. Swim off our pocket beach or body surf the tidal rapids on the incoming tide! Bring your kayak or canoe and use our pier and float. With wildlife sanctuaries on 2 sides of us there are plenty of wilderness trails to explore. See bald eagles, osprey and other birds in abundance. You may spot a seal in the cove or a beaver in Fresh Pond. Bring your bike--there's great cycling to the coves and beaches of Cape Rosier. Cabin sleeps 2--2 in a double bed or one on the double bed & one on the couch suitable for sleeping. Cabin has electricity, a small fridge and now has cold running water at the cabin sink. There is a propane gas 2 -burner countertop cook stove. The outhouse is a short walk away. There's a 5 gallon hanging boat-type outdoor solar shower to rinse off after a swim. Dogs are welcome. In the cooler weather you can keep yourself cozy with the Jotul wood stove. Rough it in style in the coastal Maine woods.
Cape Rosier is wooded and beautiful with many coves and beaches. The Holbrook Island Sanctuary is about 2,000 acres of preserved land with lots of trails. Blue Hill and Stonington are nearby and Acadia National Park is about 1-1/2 hours away by car. Bucks Harbor Market is 10 minutes away in South Brooksville as is Bucks Cafe for excellent dinner out(both are closed in the winter).
  • The cabin was so gorgeous! We love everything about it! Kel and Sher were great host. They gave us all info we need to know. The whole weekend was so perfect.

    April2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay up in Harborside at Kel & Sher's. The cabin was cozy as expected and the wood stove kept it nice and toasty in the middle of a snow storm. It was just enough of an adventure in the winter as we are avid campers in the warmer months and enjoy "roughing it" a little bit. We brought our dog and she had a blast running around in the snow. We took a drive to Stonington but it was pretty quiet due to the storm. We bought lobsters and mussels at the store in blue hill and enjoyed them thoroughly. I'm sure the property is beautiful in the summer but it was quite peaceful in the winter which was nice. I would say their house is closer than I expected but we felt like we had enough privacy. Thank you so much for sharing your special piece of Maine with us. We would definitely come back.

    Meghan2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was as lovely as the photo shows and then some. It's a well built, comfortable and efficient space. Truly an excellent place to stay for canoe/kayak/dinghy. You can very easily walk to the dock and then explore the cove. Kel was very welcoming. The cabin was well equipped with pots/pans/towels and he told us about local places to visit. On his recommendation, we went to the Blue Hill Agricultural Fair and had a good time, wouldn't have known about it otherwise. There is a nature sanctuary literally across the street/driveway so you can enjoy a day of hiking without having to drive. We saw so many stars at night and enjoyed the silence.... just crickets, no traffic background. One night it rained and we enjoyed that while we ate dinner and played cards. My one suggestion is to bring a flashlight, you might need it for getting to the outhouse at night.

    Robin2014-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at this cozy cabin. Kel & Sher were very welcoming. As soon as we arrived, Kel showed us around the cabin, suggested some places we could visit during our stay there and even helped us start a fire in the woodstove. Highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a getaway in beautiful northern Maine.

    Benzun Pious2015-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Kel & Sher's cabin. When we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and got a tour of cabin and the property. The cabin is well-cared for and had all the conveniences and amenities to make it cozy and relaxing (including many places to store water for thirsty humans and dogs :) They've done an awesome job making the space very visitor-friendly including organizing a bunch of useful materials for traveling in the local area with great recommendations on sites, restaurants, and a super convenient market/grocery store.

    Amanda2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • My first Airbnb experience at Kel and Sher's cabin was all I could have hoped for and more. The cabin was quiet and secluded -- perfect for my two dogs and me -- and equipped with everything I needed. Amazing stars at night, too. I stayed three nights, and it was a great base for exploring the local area, which is gorgeous, as well as going to Acadia for a day. Kel and Sher were welcoming and helpful, but the cabin was set back far enough from their main house that I had complete privacy.

    Daphne2015-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED our stay in Kel and Sher's quaint little cabin. Our favorite thing about it was probably how secluded and beautiful the location was. We sat on their private dock on Horseshoe Cove all day and just read and chatted. The cabin has everything you need for cooking, reading, and entertaining ourselves. And the bed was very comfy. Thanks, guys!

    Emily2015-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is wonderfully relaxing, well appointed and extremely clean. The hosts are amazingly friendly, genuine and have a wealth of suggestions for things to do in the area. The only suggestion that we could think of is to bring a flashlight and some insect repellent. Otherwise, you're in for a special experience.

The Sunhouse is a charming, one room cabin with panoramic mountain views, a full size bed, wood stove, hammock, infrared heater, and fridge. The coffee and water are provided, as well as bedding, towels and firewood. The bathroom facilities are just a short walk away at the main farmhouse.
The Sunhouse is one of three of our three cabins here at the farm. If it’s not available during your desired dates check out the links below to view the others! The sunhouse is a south facing, sunlit cabin with a wood stove, full sized bed, refrigerator and hammock. In addition to the wood stove there is also an infrared heater which keeps the chill off while you explore away from the cabin during the day and will be on prior to your arrival to warm it up. For the warmer season there is a ceiling fan, but no air conditioning. Bathroom and both indoor and outdoor showers are available at the nearby farmhouse. Guests are welcome to use our free firewood. The cabin has a k cup coffee maker complete with coffee and water. Bedding and towels are also provided for our guests. While there is no kitchen in the sun house dishes and other necessities can be provided for extended stays. Many of our guests bring a camp stove with them or enjoy the local restaurants. There is a wash sink available in the farmhouse for dishes, and we can provide laundry service for travelers. Just let us know what you will need and we will be happy to help. Of our three cabins, The Sunhouse is the closest to the farmhouse. It's also within eyeshot of but not next door to the orange Cabina and little blue cabin. So, check out those listings if the sunhouse is unavailable or you need more space. https://abnb.me/OFXXQslXhL https://abnb.me/1GTJbfhWhL The sunhouse is not far from the farmhouse where the facilities are located, but in the winter we do have a lot of snow and ice so be sure to bring appropriate footwear.
We are seven miles to Belfast with many options for dining and entertainment. The Brooks village offers necessities like Ralphs Cafe, Wentworth Family Grocery convenience store and gas, and the Marsh River Coop for local products.
  • Elen and Rick are awesome! They were easy to contact and their property is amazing. If you are looking for a quiet and quaint place to stay and unplug then I highly recommend their Sunhouse!!!

  • This is perfect place if you want a get- away, especially from a city life. The property location is excellent and the cabin is beautiful, just a note that bathroom and shower are a small distance away from the cabin, other wise it's a perfect location especially for couples! Elen and Rick were always available via text message and replayed promptly, had a trouble free time, would recommend there place for all travellers.

  • The sunhouse was great! Very secluded and cozy.

  • David and Elen were great hosts. The sun room is an absolutely great place to stay, and even better than the pictures make it out to be! David already had a fire going for me when I arrived and was extremely accommodating with any questions I had. This listing is an absolute gem; don't let it slip you by!

    Alex2016-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in Brooks! The sunroom was simple but very authentic. Elen was very flexible with the check in process. There aren't pictures of the bed on the listing but everything was nice and it was pretty cozy. The cabin is one of a few on the property and we didn't mind the short walk to the bathrooms at all. We especially enjoyed playing with the dogs. Would definitely stay again! We didn't get to use it but the wood stove could also be a plus.

    Carrie2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Sunhouse was adorable, comfortable and just what we were looking for. It's a bit out of the way, but definitely worth the drive. It was comfortable and clean, and the house was just a few steps through a lovely arbor away. Our hosts were great!

There is no electricity or running water; it will be like camping! In the hut there is a table, bench, and a ladder to a sleeping loft.
Unplug in this cozy, off grid hut, on our farm, 5 miles from downtown Belfast. This hut is equipped with everything you need to camp in style. The sleeping loft has a comfortable double bed with pillows, and a handwoven blanket from our sheep's wool. We prefer guests bring their own sleeping bags; organic cotton sheets will be provided upon request. The kitchen has a cooler for food (ice not included), a propane stove, pots, pans, kettle, and a few basics like salt, pepper, and olive oil. Eat and drink from handmade mugs, plates, and bowls. Solar powered lights shine in the cabin's small seating area; simply set them on the deck to charge and you will have light all evening. There is an outhouse with a serene, forest view. A fire ring is right off the deck, firewood is for sale or bring your own. Please bring your own water supply. On our farm you are close to the ocean, the mountains, and the rest of midcoast Maine including Acadia, Bar Harbor, Camden and Rockland. Our cabin is ideal for two people, solo adventurers, and pets.
  • This was a very nice little cabin to stay in. It was nice to go to sleep listening to the peepers!

    Nick2018-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was a super charming little hut, with great location. The animals are super friendly! If you're afraid of bugs or going to the bathroom outside this place maybe isn't for you.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Alessandra's tiny cabin! Very cute and simple but had everything we needed. We arrived quite late at night but found everything easily without problem. Our cat Atticus enjoyed his stay as well! He loved being able to sit in the windowsill and watch the birds outside and stare off into beautiful forest that surrounds the cabin. We enjoyed our stay very much. Definitely will come again!

    Katherine2017-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful first Airbnb stay, clean and cozy and charming.

    Jessica2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin in the woods is a beautiful, hand-crafted creation! Alessandra and Tom are wonderful and communicative hosts and, though I didn't get to meet them, I was welcomed onto their gorgeous land by their beautiful, joy-filled kids. The cabin itself is perfectly appointed with all you'd need for a camping away adventure but the bed was the highlight. It was so comfortable and welcoming, I could've stayed for days but needed to get on to Acadia for some hiking. The woods and land surrounding make it the perfect Maine getaway!

    Nicole2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was probably the best airbnb I’ve stayed in yet! The surrounds are beautiful and the hut is cozy, minimalistic and so close to nature, it’s perfect! It was truly a lovely stay. I hope to be back!

    Mina2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin in the woods is to die for. It is a tiny little slice of heaven.. I didn't have the opportunity to meet the hosts, but they made the process smooth by providing me with everything I needed at the cabin. Cell phone reception can be spotty (or in my case, non-existent), so plan ahead for that if need be. With the fire pit and deck, one can enjoy the scenery and relax. There's a nice area for a "shower" so bring your own water and/or portable shower. The small kitchen area is perfect for cooking simple meals over a gas burner. There is a cooler for food storage—just bring your ice with. To note, the sleeping area can get a bit warm during the summer nights, so bring layers to suit your needs. If you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs for the morning hours. The friendly rooster alerts of daybreak quite early :) This space is recommended for those wanting a break from commotion and to reconnect with nature!

    Hannah2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Cute and well priced cabin in the woods. Very comfortable The farm has lots of animals that are all very friendly. Alessandra was helpful and even grabbed us some groceries. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

  • I HIGHLY recommend Amanda's cozy Camden Cottage! The house itself is fantastic—very spacious, clean, nice, and the bedroom is especially cozy (very comfortable bed). It's a short walk away from town on a really nice street. Camden is a really charming town and I hope I can stay here again. As a host, Amanda was incredibly nice, helpful, and welcoming.

    David2016-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cute cottage on a quiet street a 10-minutes walk from the center of Camden. It is clean and well maintained. We enjoyed our stay and would consider staying again if we return to Camden. Above all, it was a very good value, given the costs of other lodgings in Camden. We must note that the small kitchen space and the bathroom are situated under the sloping upstairs roof in a way that makes them quiet awkward to use. We had very little contact with the host family that lives next door and shares the driveway to the cottage.

    Bobby2017-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very quiet neighborhood, close to town (walking distance). The Cottage is very comfortable with just the right amenities.

    Scott2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda was an excellent host! She responded immediately when we had trouble with the hot water and had the heater replaced as soon as possible. The cottage is adorable and had everything we needed. Plenty of space for two adults and a puppy. Upstairs there is a small kitchen space where you could easily cook a meal. The cottage is within walking distance from downtown Camden with delicious restaurants too. We would definitely return!

    Caitlin2018-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Jacobs Ave. Cottage. My husband and I felt very felt very comfortable staying here with our little guy (9 mo old). The cottage is clean and stocked with everything we could have needed. We barely used our car because its so easy to walk everywhere, dinner, the market, laite beach, the harbor, shops, laundry mat, coffee shops... There is so much to do right in this area. The location and neighborhood couldn't be better. Amanda and Kevin are amazing hosts and super helpful during our month-long stay. We loved being neighbors and adore their kids, they became good friends by the time we left. They were so sweet and welcoming to us. We will definitely be back and hope to stay here again!

    B2015-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful getaway! Amanda was available for messages as we made our way north, and had fresh flowers on the table and the light on when we arrived after dark. The cottage is adorable and quite cozy, even when the thermometer bottomed out below zero. We had everything we wanted from a kitchenette, volumes of hot water for the shower, cable, DVD player and Wi-Fi. We appreciated Amanda's pet friendliness and our Keeshond, Bjorn, also had a great time. The neighborhood is charming with a mix of bungalows and capes in good repair, and it is an easy walk to town. There is plenty going on even in the dead of winter with snow shoeing, skiing at the Camden Snow Bowl (can't beat $17 for a two hour ticket!) and several museums and galleries near at hand. You will not go hungry as there are several fine eateries within a short distance. We know where we want to stay the next time we are in Camden.

    Michael2015-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda and family were warm and welcoming, and completely understanding of our busy wedding weekend schedule! The cottage is clean, cozy and spacious...perfect for a weekend getaway in Camden. Step down the path past our architectural/painting studio and house and unplug for a woodland retreat under the starry skies. For Wi-Fi, just step into the studio. Nearest neighbors are family, four sheep and two hens. Explore nearby Lincolnville Beach, Camden Harbor, home of the Windjammer Schooner fleet, and Camden Hills State Park hiking trails. Center General Store is just one mile down the road, with wood-fired brick oven, 7am-7pm.
Spindlewood is a warm and wonder-filled early childhood setting with handmade wooden and woolen toys and outdoor play area. Susan was the Waldorf Kindergarten teacher here for 30 years. Double bed is a futon, and there is a sofa futon as well, unless you need to use it as a second bed. In addition to the children’s table, there is an adult-sized bistro table with two chairs. Kitchen is fully equipped for basic cooking. Gas stove, small refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker. Situated in a three generation family farmstead at the end of a country road.
Our neighbors are family and friends, and we enjoy walking down our country road to the cranberry bog at the foot of the hill. The people of Lincolnville have created a community library that hosts regular concerts and talks. And Center General Store, one mile away, is now open 7am-7pm, 7 days/week for wood oven-fired pizza and much more! Lincolnville Beach is just 7 miles away.
  • I came to Spindlewood for an evening looking for a quiet space to record vocal tracks for my upcoming album, and it turned out to be a perfect fit! Susan and Jack are great people and attentive hosts who were quick to respond to any needs I had. The space itself is warm and cozy with an open layout—perfect for a couple. Camden's main st is a short 15 minute drive away through a breath-taking route. Highly recommended!

  • Magical little cottage in the woods with easy access to Lincolnville Beach, Belfast and Camden. We spent the days checking out Camden and Belfast and the evenings nestled in the woods. Couldn't get internet in the cottage, but it was the perfect place to hunker down with a book once the days exploring was done. Since it's a kindergarten, dining tables and chairs are short, but the living room was comfortable. There isn't a microwave but there is a working kitchen, stove and oven. and small fridge. Spindlewood was a lovely, private, cozy cottage from which to explore that part of the Maine coast.

  • Spindlewood is the perfect stay for anyone who wants an imerssive wooded space curated by true artists. Susan and Jack's hospitality and genuine nature were wonderful.

    McLane2018-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was wonderful and her cottage was perfect. The location is beautiful and quiet. We were traveling with my nine month old and the space is safe and full of things for little ones to explore and play with. I recommend this spot to everyone traveling with children or those who are children at heart. We loved it!

  • This is a great getaway in the Maine woods to relax, work or both. Great hosts.

    Junius2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for an alternative to a hotel. We weren't expecting too much. Instead, we were amazed. The host is a zen-inspired architect who built the cottage (and other buildings there) to be in harmony with the soul and nature. He has even written several books on the subject. If you want to experience Maine living at its best, stay here.

    Marco2018-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely one of a kind stay! Susan and her husband are extremely kind and welcoming. Recommended a number of restaurants and things to do. Hope to return soon!

    Sean2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed Susan's place a lot! It is comfortable and well equipped. It is also a very interesting piece of history to explore. It is surrounded by forest and feels very relaxing and secluded

This cozy house is walking distance from downtown Belfast, the Belfast Rail Trail, and the Belfast Harbor. You can set the house up for a romantic nest for two or a crash pad for up to six people, and live comfortably while gaining easy access to all the cool adventures Mid-Coast Maine offers.
This lovely bungalow style house has a full kitchen with all the kitchen tools you need to cook using easily obtained local food. It has a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, full stove with oven, all pots, pans and dishes, and all silver and utensils you might need. The Belfast Co-op and two local farmer's markets are walking distance away. The sleeping arrangements offer great flexibility - there is a bedroom with a queen bed, another with twin bunk beds, and also a comfortable futon couch. There is also plenty of room in the yard to set up a tent if you prefer to enjoy the fresh ocean air flowing off the bay. The front porch provides a relaxing place to watch the sky and listen to the wind blow through the willow tree leaves. The house is heated and cooled with a heat pump which allows you to keep the space the perfect temperature at all times. There is a washer and dryer in the basement if you need to cycle some clothes during a longer stay.
The proximity this house provides you to downtown Belfast is awesome. You are only two minutes walking away from Waterfall Arts, an amazing local art center that hosts all kinds of classes for kids and adults, a gallery, lots of events and music, and a farmer's market. Another three minutes walking puts you in the heart of downtown Belfast, which is an amazing small town! Here are some of my favorites: Check out the Colonial Theater for the latest movies in a gorgeous art deco theater with three screens. There are lots of awesome restaurants (faves: Nautlius, Meanwhile in Belfast, Delvino's, Laan Xang, Chase's Daily, Darby's), local breweries/bars (Rollies, Three Tides, Front Street Pub), two delicious ice cream shops (The Chocolate Drop Candy Shop, Wild Cow Creamery), and so many cool stores (Coyote Moon, The Green Store, Colburn's Shoes, Justine, The Good Table, Eat More Cheese, Yo Momma's, Side Country Sports and Bike Shop - you can rent bikes there, and on and on). The Belfast area is chock full of outdoor activities: you can hike, bike, kayak, paddleboard, sail, walk, ski, skate - anything you want, we do it! There are local schooners at the Belfast harbor to book a sailing trip on (Timberwind, Amity), as well as places to rent bikes, kayaks and other gear (Side Country Sports, Water Walker, Ducktrap Kayak). Local trails and preserves include the Belfast Rail Trail, the Hills to the Sea trail, Stover Preserve, Bald Mountain (towards Camden), Head of Tide Preserve, Sears Island (near Searsport), Moose Point State Park, Camden Hill State Park, and so many more! And of course Belfast is a great jumping off place for the full range of what Maine offers: visit Islesboro (twenty minutes drive to ferry, twenty minute ferry ride), Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor (hour and a half drive), Camden and Mount Batty (twenty minute drive), Baxter State Park and Katahdin (two hour drive), on and on...
  • A wonderful house. Louisa was friendly and great, good location. It felt like home. If you love reading, you’ll love the massive collection of books in the living room.

  • Great little spot right outside of town! Quiet, and easy access to the town of Belfast. Really great spot to stay for a small group.

    Lauren2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Comfortable, very convenient for walking to the town. We walked the shipyard route which was very interesting. House was welcoming, homely, well-equipped and had a super atmosphere. Kitchen was lovely to sit in. Belfast was fun and quirky. The nearby Variety Store had everything under one roof with very pleasant staff. We loved being here.

  • I quickly booked Kristi's room on a last-minute decision to visit the area based on the photo and it's location; within walking distance to the local airport, into which I was flying, so I didn't need a car. Only after booking did I read the full description of the property, and consequently was a little nervous about the lack of en-suite facilities. As it turned out, having to walk a few steps to access a clean bathroom was a non-event, and I thoroughly enjoyed the clean, private, and thoughtfully appointed detached building...complete with a firepit, where I enjoyed a cozy fire, beverage and cigar after dinner, while surfing the internet on free, fast WiFi. All in all, a very nice stay that fit my bill exactly.

    DB2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute little cabin. Super cozy and just what I expected. Located in a super cute town with some really good food. Kristie was very easy to contact and very kind. Although it was a guest house it was very private!

    Hannah2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Run, don't walk to book this spot for your next getaway! Kristy's candid description of her space is just her honest, humble nature coming through. Don't be fooled by the reasonable price - it is a cozy, spotless heaven on earth! Too many thoughtful touches to name - just go! Also! Ask for a massage! Possibly the best I've ever received! Thank you for a perfect Belfast weekend Kristy! I'll be back!

This spacious second floor apartment is directly across the street from Harbor Park, the Public Landing & Boardwalk. It is in the heart of historic downtown Rockland and has breath-taking views of the harbor and ocean beyond. The apartment is steps to historic downtown Rockland with museums, shops, restaurants, galleries & more. Do to Rockland city restrictions, this apartment is available for monthly rentals only.
This charming apartment encompasses the entire second floor of this fully restored historic building which gives you a bird's nest view of the harbor and activities. The view and location can't be beat. The apartment is on the second floor with stair access in the front and rear. Due to the Main Street location there is some street noise associated with this apartment. Most guests find the convenience of the downtown location and the magnificent view, compensate for any street noise.
The Wheeler House is in the heart of Rockland's quaint shopping district. Steps from the front door enjoy seaside restaurants, the Farnsworth Museum, shops, galleries and The Market. Thursdays have fun at the Farmers' Market in Harbor park.
  • The Wheeler House is everything Jeannine says and more. The house is well appointed and is in a fabulous location. Great view and walking distance to stores and restaurants. During our stay at the Wheeler House, I would wake up just in time to see the most beautiful sunsets from the large picture window in the living room, overlooking the harbor. Jeannine was a delightful host! Her extra little touches made our stay even more enjoyable. We didn't want to leave and had wished we had more time there. We have already talked about wanting to go back and stay again at the Wheeler House. Thanks, Jeannine!

    Tammy2015-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a week at the Wheeler House, in Rockland, ME with Jeannine as host. I can't say enough good things about this experience. The property and location were perfect and Jeannine is a delight. She was available as needed before and during our stay. Her attention to detail made our stay a perfect one. The apartment was spotless and very comfortable. Jeanine met us on arrival and touched base during our visit to insure all was well. The location is within walking distance of the Rockland Harbor and many restaurants and shops so there is always plenty to do. I hope to travel to this area of Maine again and Jeannine will be first on my list of places to call. Will gladly stay at the Wheeler House again!

    Sue2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Jeannine's place in Rockland was simply perfect. Our wonderful sun lit apartment with a magnificent view of Rockland Harbor and the first rays of sun rise. Rockland is a beautiful, picturesque Maine Coastal town in a great location to access so many other places from Acadia to Portland and the numerous islands. You'll love the variety of museums, galleries, and restaurants in Rockland and nearby towns. You couldn't ask for a better host than Jeannine. Her place is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. We hope to return some day.

    Richard2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were blessed to stay in this gorgeous spot for 7 months while I did a nursing assignment at the local hospital. Everything about this apartment is spectacular! Jeannine is the perfect host; always available but never intruding. Treat yourself and stay here! If you stay in the winter time there is a special, very affordable monthly rate. Most of the restaurants downtown remain open. We loved being able to walk to the theater (Strand) and dinner. We were able to walk on the boardwalk, also, even in the winter (because it was so mild this past year).

    Kathy and Chris2016-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • The wheeler house is everything, that Jeannine claims it to be. She was a most gracious host and really has thought of everything. You must book it if it is available.

    Tom2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jeannine was the perfect host! She met my boyfriend and I at the apt and gave us a tour. She even left us muffins, bagels, jam and bottles of water! She was helpful in restaurant suggestions and even asked around when we asked if she knew of any horseback riding places. The apartment itself is great and just like the pictures. It overlooks the water and the sunrise and sunsets are beautiful. We'll definitely stay here again when we travel to Rockland.

    Jocelyn2016-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • I don't even know where to start! I'll begin by saying that our month-long stay at Jeannine's was hands-down the best vacation rental experience we have EVER had! The apartment was so clean that we were convinced everything in it had to be brand-new! We were within walking distance of everything! Restaurants, markets, theater, museums, cafe's, bakeries, gift shops, book stores, the ferry, lobster boats, the YMCA (which we joined for the month), etc. The Harbor Park is directly in front of the house and we watched the sunrise nearly every morning over the bay. Stunning. Jeannine welcomed us like family with bagels, muffins, coffee, tea and more. Her recommendations for things to do always turned out to be our very favorite! Fun tip: (Hidden by Airbnb) The Strand theater in Rockland for their calendar of events and performances. We've never been so sad to leave a place in our lives! We are going to miss that beautiful, immaculate apartment, the comfy, snuggly bed, the farmer's market in Harbor Park every Thursday, the sunrise, the sailboats, the town goings-on, the awesome food and people, the staggering beauty of Maine, but mostly we are going to miss our lovely new friend, Jeannine. She is the best! I highly recommend Jeannine's place! It was a dream come true!

    Bill2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Location! Location! Location! so they say, and Jeannine's place has it in spades. The view from the living room window out onto the marina and park is worth the price right there but there is so much more! The apartment is flanked by a coffee house and a seafood restaurant (seasonal), and just a short block away from everything Rockland has to offer including many restaurants, shopping, and the Strand for movies and live performances. The off street parking is another bonus. The rooms are large. The living room has cable TV, and we had a slight problem with it soon after we arrived, and Jeannine took care of it ASAP. The kitchen has all the pots and pans you might need plus dishes and silverware. The beds are very comfortable, and the bedroom has a TV with cable also. We stayed at Jeannine's for a month but wish we could have stayed longer. Jeannine is so hospitable! Highly recommend!

Our studio apartment has all the amenities--complete kitchen, welcoming living space, queen-sized bed in sleeping nook, and comfortable dining area. The Studio is up a flight of stairs in a lovely, 1804, Federal-style building.
Studio 2 is in a building with 3, year-around apartments (each with a single, quiet/considerate tenant) and one other vacation rental. Although Studio 2 is a studio apartment, about 30'x30', the bed is not in the main living area, but in a nook by itself.
Studio 2 is in downtown Belfast, walking distance from all the shops and most of the restaurants, art galleries, the movie theater, the coop, etc. It is about 3 city blocks up from Belfast Harbor and there is a great little bakery next door. We leave a couple of sheets of information about Belfast in the apartment.
  • Great apartment! Had everything I needed for my stay and very convenient walk to shops and restaurants.

  • Excellent location in Belfast! Walk to shops, restaurants, harbour, and great running/biking/walking Belfast Rail Trail. Clean, spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable studio for 2 (I agree with other reviews, felt as much like a 1-bedroom). Communication with Lucy was easy from the moment the booking was confirmed. Easy check-in and convenient parking. Comfortable bed, modern bathroom, and well equipped kitchen. Highly recommend!

  • The apartment was cozy, neat, and clean. The directions were well written and informative. The bed was very comfortable too. We loved being right in the center of Belfast. Although the weekend was extremely busy we did enjoy some relaxing time there. We missed talking directly with Lucy and John. But they seemed cordial and very helpful whenever we had questions.

A cosy one room cabin nestled on the outskirts of the woods on our 70 acre farm with a beautiful south western mountain view. Inside there's a breakfast nook, fridge, wood stove, sitting area, cabinets and drawers and a sleeping loft accessed by a locally made 10 foot orchard ladder and a new memory foam bed. The back porch has a hammock for afternoon naps. The bathroom is a short walk away at the farmhouse. Its only 7 miles to Belfast’s restaurants and entertainment!
The Blue berry house is one of our three cabins here at the farm. If it’s not available during the time you need check out the links below to view the others. The blue cabin has one room plus a loft with wood stove, full sized bed, refrigerator, microwave and couch. In addition to the wood stove there is also an infrared heater which keeps the chill off while you explore away from the cabin during the day and will be on prior to your arrival to warm it up. For the warmer season there is a fan but no air conditioning. Bathroom and both indoor and outdoor showers are available at the nearby farmhouse. *A local massage therapist is available in the evenings for private in room massages. Ask when booking if interested. * Firewood for heating is available during the cold season. Bedding and towels are also provided for our guests. While there is no kitchen in the cabin, dishes and other necessities can be provided for extended stays if you ask before hand. Many of our guests bring a camp stove with them or enjoy the local restaurants. There is a wash sink available in the farmhouse for dishes. Just let us know what you will need and we will be happy to help. It's a private space but within eye sight of two other cabins we have listed on Airbnb as well. Check out these links to view them. https://abnb.me/1GTJbfhWhL https://abnb.me/aR7SXWzWhL The cabin is not far from the farmhouse where the facilities are located, but in the winter we do have a lot of snow and ice so be sure to bring appropriate footwear.
We are seven miles to Belfast with many options for dining and entertainment. The Brooks village offers necessities like Ralphs Cafe, Wentworth Family Grocery convenience store and gas, and the Marsh River Coop for local products.
  • What an amazing place. The farm is set up on a hill and you can look out over the pastures and meadows and woods for miles. The Blue House is a beautiful space. Elen and her family could not have been more welcoming. The farm is just a few miles from one of the most pristine lakes in Maine--and very close to Belfast with its beautiful harbor. Highly recommended.

2018 reduced rates! Deer Isle is a lesser traveled but stunningly beautiful island on the Maine coast, conveniently connected to land by an impressive bridge. GlimmerGlass Cottage, a tiny house tucked in a clearing in the woods, echoes the area's rustic appeal and artistic good taste. The ocean is a short walk away. There's plenty to do on the island and within a short drive. July and August are high season, so plan ahead if you want to go to Bar Harbor, at least 1.5 hour drive on busy roads!
Picture perfect, total comfort in our tiny house attached to a working stained glass studio. Best for one or two adults only, and sorry, we cannot host children or pets. Nestled in a clearing in the woods on a quiet country road, just a half mile from Sylvester's Cove and Penobscot Bay. Your own kitchenette for light meals, a sun and shaded deck overlooking our gardens. 2018 will be our sixth season as Airbnb hosts. Every year, we make improvements to our guests’ experience. We’ve consistently gotten five star ratings from our hundreds of guests and have Superhost status from Airbnb, a real honor. Everything you will experience in Glimmerglass this year will be the same as in the past, only better. However, we’ve reduced our rental fee by 30% this year, and here’s why: The grounds around our house and Glimmerglass are a bit raw. We had a logger remove most of the old spruce over about half of our 10-acre property. The trees were huge, blocking the sun to our gardens and were nearing the end of their life span. We worried they could topple over on the buildings during a storm. Nature will soften the rawness over the next few summers, wildflowers, wildlife and birds will flourish. But the change is dramatic. Inside Glimmerglass, we designed and built this adorable space for ourselves and our favorite guests. Everything in it has been chosen for comfort and beauty. Sleep under handmade quilts on a feather bed with the glow of a custom stained glass window as a night light. Relax in the tiny parlor and watch a movie from our DVD collection or your favorite cable program, have coffee and read on your own deck. Make breakfast (I'll treat you to blueberry muffins or popovers one morning, if you wish) or a sandwich in the efficient kitchenette, fridge (stocked with a few basics), coffee maker, microwave and toaster oven provided. Your own modern bath has an extra large shower and plenty of hot water.
Spring on the island brings fresh green leaves and flowers. Deer Isle slowly comes to life after a cold and snoozy winter. Foodies, be on the watch for dandelion greens, fiddleheads, and rhubarb. The restaurants start opening up. Locals watch for Madeline's Drive In Restaurant opening day in May. Things start to rock by the end of June, and really get rolling by July 4th with a parade and fireworks, the whole traditional shebang. July and August are intensely active. The summer people are in their homes, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in full session, the Opera House busy with live productions, and all restaurants and businesses going at full tilt. Special foods? Lobsters of course, crab meat rolls, steamed clams, fresh strawberries, and whoopee pies. Blueberries ripen in August. Be on the lookout for craft beers. Fall on the island means clear warm days, cool crisp nights. September and October really are the nicest months here. We get the gorgeous bright colored leaves, mixed with dark greens of the firs, and the blueberry fields turn bright red. The summer traffic (never really that bad) calms down, though most shops and restaurants are still open and easier to enjoy. Much of the Maine coast is heavily touristy. Not Deer Isle. The island got connected to the mainland with an impressive bridge about 75 years ago, but acts like it happened last week. There are summer people, most with their own seasonal cottages, many who have histories on the island of a hundred years or more. So there are few motels (only a couple, and they are not the Holiday Inn), a couple of B & B's, and a handful of restaurants. The feeling is much more of a working island than a tourist destination. Stonington, on the southern tip, brings in the largest lobster catch in the state.
  • Kathryn and Drew were pleasant hosts. The cottage was clean and neat. Kathryn had stocked the frig with yogurt and a whoppie pie. Delish! We loved the quiet setting in the woods and yet we were only minutes from the village and the shore. It is someplace we could return to.

    Virginia2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn and Drew were wonderful hosts, very welcoming and generous. We thoroughly enjoyed learning how to make stained glass panels and our time spent with both of them. Drew was an excellent teacher. They were very respectful of our time and space. The accommodations were perfect for our needs. Kathryn was very helpful in guiding us to fun things to do on the island and provided a lot of materials with information about the area. We will definitely return when we next have the opportunity.

    Cynthia2013-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn was a great host. I arrived very late in the evening and she was thoughtful to leave the lights on in the studio so I could find my way in the dark. GlimmerGlass Cottage was so cozy and comfortable. And clean. I was pleasantly surprised at how much space there was, it was more than enough room for just myself. I'm a city girl and staying here in such a rural setting is a huge departure from my usual day to day urban life. I loved it! Lots of trees, the sounds of birds and insects and being able to sit on the porch and admire the garden, it was very peaceful. I felt safe and secure knowing that Kathryn was just across the driveway should anything be needed. I would definitely stay again.

    Jodi2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn's place was even better in person. She and Drew made us feel completely welcomed on Deer Isle. They gave us a tour of their fantastic garden and one morning Kathryn made delicious blueberry muffins for us. I only wish we had more time to check out the stained glass studio! If you're into rustic island getaways, check out this gem!

    Chris2014-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as advertised. A very comfortable one bedroom cabin/cottage that built as an extension of a stained glass workshop/studio in wooded setting. Kathryn provided excellent directions and stocked the fridge with essentials like milk, cream, coffee, tea etc. The home made muffins and the home grown blueberries were a really nice bonus. A great base to explore Deer Island but do not forget to ask for a quick tour of the stained glass studio. Definitely recommended.

  • Kathryn and Drew are great hosts! Their cottage in the woods was tastefully furnished, well appointed, and spotlessly clean. It truly is, as advertised, a Maine Island Gem!

    Merrick2014-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a beautiful and peaceful part of Maine. The space is small, but very comfortable and well appointed. Kathryn and Drew were incredibly helpful with suggestions of things to do and answered all our questions about the area. We would highly recommend Glimmerglass cottage and hope to return in the future.

  • Lori was there to meet us and was great at giving us the low down on the space and the lay of the land. She was friendly and we were able to connect about farming in Maine. She has beautiful and low key space.

    Taylor2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great, quiet, and beautiful getaway! Lori was super inviting and wonderful. She set up the sauna for us to try and it was amazing on a cold day. We wished we could have stayed for so much longer. We didn't want to have to go home!!

    Cassidy2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lori is a fabulous host. Place was exactly as described and stay was excellent. A wonderful and relaxing place to stay.

  • Lori was a great host. She directed us to some different places for supper when we arrived. Where she directed us was very good food and a great environment. The cabin is absolutely adorable and the bed was so comfy!

  • Kate's Cottage is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay and we had a wonderful time -- it was just what we had hoped for. Lori was very helpful through the whole booking process and a perfect host while we were there. We look forward to returning! And her breakfast was delicious -- what a treat!

    Cozette2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lori was a wonderful host. The cabin is quiet and quaint; we had a rustic and relaxing experience. We enjoyed two wonderful massages as well. Would love to come back in the winter for snowshoeing!

    Maggie2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lori was a wonderful host and presented us with an exceptional visit. The cottage was small but had enough space for both me and my guest and was well furnished. Having the windows open created a lovely cross breeze, and then fan Lori provided at the last minute gave us additional comfort against the humidity. The cottage is set well away from the main house - close enough for access to the full bathroom but far enough away for almost 100% privacy. Lovely stay! The toaster/dishwashing bin/utensils/coffeemaker were a bonus!

Katy's Seaside Cottage is a quaint & cozy 2 bedroom cottage, with ocean views. It has a beautiful deck/gazebo where you can sit and watch boats pass by. Enjoy free public access to the ocean anytime with a short walk from the property, a great place to kayak or swim. In the Fall enjoy the fall foliage and great hikes on the island or in neighboring areas including Acadia. Come Winter there is great cross-country skiing at the local golf course and snowshoeing in the neighborhood.
Katy's Seaside Cottage is a quaint & cozy 2 bedroom cottage, kitchen stocked with dishes, pots and pans, living room with sliding glass door out to large deck with attached gazebo, 1 bath with walk in shower, bed linens, blankets and towels. Washing machine and clothesline. Cottage on a quiet dead end street, on 1 acre of land with lots of open grass. Approximately 300 ft. to a small cove with rocky beach that opens up to a number of small islands. This is a wonderful spot from which to go kayaking or Stand Up Paddle boarding. This is also a great home base for fall and winter adventures as it is easy to get off the island as well as enjoy all that the island has to offer! There is an obstructed view of the ocean from the house and gazebo but an amazing view from the comfort of two chairs in the yard. Wireless Internet and free long distance phone service within the US is available. The renter will receive the cottage in a clean and satisfactory condition and agrees to leave it in the same condition. Rental fees (including 8% Maine tax) vary per week depending on the season. Rentals run from check in day at 3:00 until the check out morning at 10:00. There is a $50 cleaning fee, although it is expected that the cottage is left in a satisfactory condition. Please ask if you have a pet you would like to bring, but please no cats because I have an allergy.
The neighborhood is quiet and the few neighbors I do have are locals. There are only a few other houses in the immediate area that rent. Many of my neighbors are fishermen and leave very early in the morning and go to bed early in the evening. There are also some retired couples in the area and some seasonal residents. You can see the ocean in two directions from the top of the road at the corner of the property. Very pretty and you will be able to hear a passing lobster fishing boat from time to time.
  • Katy's cottage was just right. Exactly the quiet getaway my husband and I wanted. We traveled several days from the cottage up to Acadia and enjoyed local suggestions given in the guest book. We would absolutely stay again.

    Corinne2015-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Katy's Seaside Cottage was wonderful! She is a truly hospitable hostess. The house was full of fresh cut flowers when we arrived and all the beds were made. In the middle of our stay she even gave us lobster she had caught earlier that morning. The house is beautifully appointed, simple and a place you can really relax. The cove, right down the street, is truly lovely. Communication with Katy was quick and easy from start to finish. All around a great experience.

    Amy2014-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Katy's place is nice and has a lot of great accommodations. Pretty view of the water and some cool little towns close by. The town is very rural and it takes a while to get from place to place. However, this place is great for a nice getaway from the city.

    Susan2017-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful, beautiful cove, and very clean cottage!

    Ellen2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Katy was wonderful to work with and her cottage had everything we needed. Birds and butterflies were abundant in the beautiful meadow of wildflowers we faced from the deck.

    Paul2013-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay at Katy's...incredible spot to get in the water and paddle out to the islands! We were lucky to enjoy some of the most gorgeous sunsets on the porch every night!

  • Katy's cottage was beautiful! I loved every minute of being there!

    Dakota2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Katy's cottage. The cottage is so cozy and beautifully decorated, with a hundred little loving and sweet touches, and a great color scheme. The kitchen is bright and charming. We loved grilling fresh fish and eating outside and watching the sunset on the deck. It's a fabulous location as well—very close to Stonington which is a great town with a great beach. We also took the ferry to Isle au Haut which was stunning and drove to Acadia, not far away. But there are lots of beautiful hikes on Deer Isle too. Katy was a great host, very helpful and attentive. Would definitely recommend!

Come stay in our comfortable, romantic one bedroom cottage set in a peaceful, secluded location on the coast of Maine, with a 5 minute walk to public water access. You share the property with owners who may or may not be present during your visit.
Come, experience Downeast Maine from the epicenter of its famous coast, remarkable for its stunning views, nesting bald eagles, basking seals, fireflies and starry nights. Stay in our Waterview Cottage with its double bed and comfortable living room overlooking Smith Cove and summer sunsets. Cozy up to our fireplace (propane) on those cool evenings. It's a 5 minute walk to the town dock where you can enjoy water access. Our location is quite remote including lots of winding roads. There's lots to do for all ages: Like to walk/hike? Explore nearby Holbrook Sanctuary, hike Blue Hill Mountain or take a picnic to Acadia National Park, just 1 1/2 hours away, for spectacular hiking or biking through the woods on the famous Carriage Trails. The Blue Hill Heritage Trust has added many new hiking trails on the peninsula. Want to get on the water? Charter a sailboat at Buck's Harbor Marine for a day on Eggemoggin Reach or rent kayaks to paddle on one of our many local bays, or take the mail boat to Isle au Haut (part of Acadia Natn'l Park) for a hike, or swim in the local, and warmish, Walker Pond. Is art your thing? Plan a day trip to Deer Isle, Stonington, or Blue Hill to check out the impressive, local art scene. The Reversing Falls Sanctuary offers art openings and other events. Like music? World famous Kneisal Hall Music School in Blue Hill hosts fabulous classical concerts throughout the summer; Flash in the Pan Steel Drum Band plays at the Blue Hill town park most Monday evenings (overlooking Blue Hill harbor); check out the Stonington Opera House for their repertoire of all kinds of performances; live music Tues. nights at Methodist Church in Buck's Harbor; open mic at Tinderhearth. Are you a Foodie? Pick up your bread ( croissants, tarts, cookies, pizza and more!) at our local Tinderhearth Bakery, and your greens at the Brooksville Farmer's Market on Tuesdays just above Buck's Harbor Market. David's Folly Farm will sell you farm fresh meat and Buck's Harbor Market (5 minutes away) has just about everything else for dinner. O yes, and, of course, don't forget you can buy lobsters at Northern Bay Market, live or cooked and ready to go! Then, come back to Waterview Cottage and watch the sun as it sets over Smith Cove. And, great, local restaurants abound - see the local Weekly Packet for more info. There's so much more to do – play golf, tennis, visit pottery studios, enjoy raw oysters fresh from the local (and world famous) Bagaduce River Oyster Farm, go bird watching, or visit the pioneering “back-to-the-land" Good Life Center 7 miles away in Cape Rosier. Oh! I forgot to mention blueberry pie a la mode. You'll just have to come explore for yourself! Welcome!
We love the peace and quiet.
  • The cottage was perfect, quiet, clean, modest but comfortable and nice. I would definitely come here again. "Kim" and Diane were helpful and friendly without being intrusive. This is on a quiet cove which is about a five minute walk from the cottage and you can see the water from the cottage. I had a wonderful introduction to Maine and loved being tucked away in a community with so much local flavor yet with Acadia National Park being within a fun day trip.

    Ann2014-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our vacation at Waterview Cottage was enlivening, restful, romantic, fun and--except for the wondrous sounds of nature--quiet too. Charles and Diane were warm, gracious and helpful, while also thoroughly respectful of our privacy. The cottage is clean and comfortable--perfect for two--and views out the windows heavenly. Walks on the property are delightful, with woodland trails at the nearby Holbrook Sanctuary even better yet. We enjoyed town life and restaurants in Blue Hill, only 20 minutes away. We hope to return next summer for a longer stay.

    Shomer & Judy2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was perfect - beautifully equipped and furnished, lovely setting, and an awesome shelf of good reading! Kim and Diane were perfect hosts - welcoming but not hovering. We would come again.

    Lawrence2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking to spend some quality time with your loved ones (or alone) in a beautiful, remote place off the beaten track, this is perfect. The cottage is cute and well-cared for with thoughtful "extras" like flashlights, board games, a great library, and an air mattress. It's an 8-10 minute drive from a clam shop and convenience store, 20-25 minutes from the more "major" towns on the peninsula, and an hour from the more traditional attractions of Acadia or Belfast/Camden. If you stick closer to home, you're close to the ocean and have a nice outside area to enjoy. However, the road to the cottage is tough on cars. It's isolated. We spent a good amount of time in our car getting to places. We knew that going in and enjoyed it; just remember to consider those factors if you are unfamiliar with coastal rural Maine. This area is less touristy than those immediately to the north and south; you can decide whether that's a blessing or a curse. That said, when we had car troubles that left us on the peninsula rather than venturing farther, we found a good day worth of adventure between Blue Hill, Brooksville, and Castine, and all of the year-round residents were really helpful in advising us. The hosts were terrific -- communicative, patient, and ready to help. We didn't overlap much, but the cottage was so well set-up we didn't need much guidance, and everything was very clear.

    Rebecca2015-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Just as advertised. Beautiful location, very comfortable cabin with all you need and a view to die for. We'd stay there again any time we come to Brooksville.

    Howard2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts were incredibly friendly and gracious, welcoming us with freshly picked plums and peaches and a jar of blueberry preserves. They were extremely knowledgeable about the area and gave us great recommendations. The cottage was clean and the kitchen was extremely well-equipped---we did a lot of cooking and have all the pots and pans we could need! We felt like we could ask questions of Charles and Diane, but they also let us have our privacy. It was wonderful stay and we hope to go back sometime!

    Elsemarie2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great experience! I am so glad I went through with this listing and trip. Super quiet area and a classic cottage experience (complete with beautiful wood interior)! The hosts were laid back yet very willing to help - gave great tips on how to make our trip enjoyable. Would definitely go back!

    Michelle2015-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at the Waterview Cottage. Everything was as described - clean, comfortable space with a great view of the water. Kim was a gracious host and recommended some local restaurants and hikes. The location is great for exploring Downeast Maine while avoiding the bustle and traffic of Bar Harbor. Of course, I do still recommend visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park during your stay (about 80 minutes by car from the cottage). But don't overlook the serene trails at nearby Holbrook Island Sanctuary.

Welcome to our rustic and adorable oceanfront cottage with gorgeous views of Penobscot Bay and the Camden Hills! One hour to Acadia National Park. The cottage is off-the-grid, though we do offer alternative amenities including a double burner cooktop, small lamp and small fridge. (Please note: bathroom facilities are wash area, exterior solar shower and porta potty.) Be lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean waves. You will love it here!
The one-room cottage will bring you back to holidays of yesteryear! There are steps down the hill to get to the cottage with an open view of the bay. By day, enjoy the myriad of activities indoors and out; in the evenings, read by the light of the lanterns and old fireplace. (We kindly ask that you bring Duraflame logs only).
  • Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! We stayed a long weekend, but felt like it was a week. Communication/transaction couldn't have been better or easier. The cottage is really cool. Old timey, rustic and comfortable feel. Open your eyes; there's the water. Sit and have a cup of coffee; there's the water. We packed a cooler. Between that and the mini-fridge, keeping food and drinks cold was no issue. We also brought a few things to ensure our comfort- some cherry picked stuff from our kitchen (knife, cutting board, spices, etc.) and some additional light (lantern, headlamp). Although, what's provided is plenty. Lazy mornings. A little running around. Sit down by the water and watch the sun set. Dinner, drinks, and games by the fire. Repeat. Lobster and fiddleheads are my new favorite summer meal, if you should care. It was disconnected, peaceful, relaxing.

    Alexander2018-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • I was looking for place that was off the map and super quiet. This place was perfect! Very quiet, incredibly charming, super comfortable bed. Very accurate to the description. Loved the lawnchair down near the water. It was an amazing place to sit and read with the sounds of crashing waves in the background. I didn't have my phone on so there wasn't communication with my hosts but that speaks to how well their initial all directions were. I literally drove up and knew instantly right where to go. Perfect little relaxing recharging trip.

    Andrew2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect for us: in the woods but still close to supplies and great locales, and rustic but comfortable. It was the best of both worlds in terms of being a mixture between camping and cabin vacationing. We loved being so close to Maine nature, and the beauty of the area! I hope the place won't be booked next time we'd like to visit! Many thanks to Audrey for being a wonderful host, too.

    Katie2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • It is a sweet little cottage in a secluded area away from the hussle and bustle of daily life. If you stay with the mind set of camping with a roof and bed, I think you’ll love it. Bed was very comfy!!! It was like going back in time and gave us a sense of what it was like before modern conveniences. It’s a great way to reconnect, face to face, with your loved ones!

    Frankie2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely incredible cabin on the ocean with an endlessly hospitable host. Really incredible experience all around. Can not recommend enough.

    Bryan2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Audrey and Brian have something so special here. The cabin is charming, and the views from the window are breathtaking. Walk down about 30 meters from the property and you're looking out over the ocean. Great for watching the sunset. The area is gorgeous and there's a pebble beach just down the road. Audrey was great and was there to help anytime we needed it. The whole experience was a great reset for us. Highly recommended. Top tip: Bring food with you - there aren't any convenience stores around.

    Richard2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, clamping at its finest!

    Leigh2018-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We're reluctant to tell anyone about this fantastic place because if people start going, it's never going to be available again. That's how amazing it was. When we booked the accommodation, we thought we were going to a cheap cabin near the beach. Instead, we stayed in this magical, romantic, magnificent cottage overlooking the sea.The design is old- fashioned, rustic and charming, but completely comfortable and immaculate. The owners put so much thought into every little detail, down to the flowers in the tin watering can at the door. There is no indoor plumbing, but we were not at all inconvenienced. We spent nights reading and playing cards by the fire. We walked to the beach behind the house in the morning (This walk might be tricky for anyone elderly or disabled, or for young children, because there are a lot of slippery boulders to grapple with, but it was perfect for us, and well-worth the tiny trek ) and there are all sorts of hikes in the woods nearby and another easily accessible beach not too far up the road and down the hill. We are bringing bikes next time. During some of our morning swims, it felt like we were the last two people on earth. The outdoor area is secluded and the view of the water will take your breath away. We had no desire to read the news or even take our phones out of our bags. We were totally transported. We could have stayed forever. What an experience!

A delightful location on Penobscot Bay, 1/2 mile form Lincolnville Beach and a five-minutes drive from Camden, with its picturesque harbor, full of sailboats from around the world and its own schooner fleet. Trail heads, accessing Camden Hills State Park, are just a few minutes away. Views from the high points in the park are renowned for their extraordinary beauty and expansiveness, inspiring artists and poets for generations.
A comfortable, spacious apartment, up a flight of stairs. The deck off the back provides pretty views of the Camden Hills. Although our property is on the water and guests have a short walk to the private, quiet shore, the apartment is neither on the water nor can you see the water from it--Our house, situated between the apartment and the shore, blocks the view. Besides the living area with its queen-sized bed, there is a small room with a twin bed for napping, late night reading, etc.
Dot's and Green Tea Coffee Roasters are just down Route 1, 5 minutes' walk. They are both big hits for guests. Dot's has gourmet foods--soups, sandwiches, gluten-free and gluten-full products, wines, generally yummy items to grab and go or eat there. Green Tea has wonderful coffee and all kinds of teas. A little farther north (about 1/2 mile from the apartment) there are 4 restaurants, a quick-stop kind of place, a few gift shops and a Post Office. Farther north (12 miles from the apartment) is Belfast, a wonderful town. Belfast has character! South, 5 miles from the apartment, is Camden, then Rockland. Both have excellent restaurants, harbors, and lots to see a do.
  • John and Lucy are great. The apartment is exceptional and so warm and comfy and the location gorgeous! Couldn’t ask for better hosts or location. Would and hopefully will visit again.

    Chelsea2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • I could write a babbly review going on and on about how amazing our stay was at John and Lucy's airbnb, but I will try to keep it short and only hit the highlights. From first contact they were awesome. Quick responses with plenty of information. Once the reservation was confirmed they sent separate directions to help us get there in case the GPS acted up. At the house Lucy gave us the rundown and showed us the path to the beach. The apartment itself was what basically what we expected from the pictures, but so much better! The wall full of windows had such great views for watching birds and such, the kitchen was well stocked with cookingware and seasonings, and it was instantly just felt like such a comfortable place to stay. It was also CLEAN. We've stayed at other places that were clean, but this was a well cared for home kind of clean (which, again, contributed to the apartment feeling like such a comfortable place to stay). Every few days John would leave us messages on the blackboard, which was adorable and made us feel cared for without being overbearing. The home is on a farm, so work is done and can cause a little noise. Honestly, we enjoyed it and never felt like it interfered with our peaceful stay at all. (After all, it is a farm, there should be some noise.) A nice extra thing they had that many airbnb's I have stayed at don't: compost and recycle bins. It was a small thing, but I really appreciated that they made those available. My husband and I loved our stay. For the price and the fact that you get a direct path to the beach (no drive!) it was a no brainer for us. Yes, we had to drive to some of the towns, like Camden, instead of stay in them, but, I mean, come on, quiet little apartment on a farm with beach access, why wouldn't you pick that?!

    Anne2018-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • You cannot go wrong choosing Lucy and John's place. The hosts, the accommodations, and the surroundings are all wonderful. Lucy and John have thought of everything you might need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The living space is open and full of light, and when you are out on your deck, you are in a very private space, surrounded by green and trees. A short walk through the property leads to the ocean. Unfortunately, despite the fact that we were visiting in June, the weather was quite chilly and rainy during most of our stay, so we never were able to enjoy the beach. We plan on coming back in the future, so that we can experience the area in beautiful weather too. We wholeheartedly recommend Lucy and John's place.

  • Gretchen and Steve were friendly hosts and a pleasure to meet. They were available for any questions and or help that we needed. Their place is in a great location to explore Camden and the nearby mid coast area. It is walking distance to Lincolnville beach and very close to an amazing bakery . The house is well equipped, an easy to use kitchen, with a big comfortable sofa in the living room .The stairs going up to the bedrooms are very steep, but doable. The house was comfortable and cozy and the surrounding gardens lovely . We really enjoyed being able to drink our coffee in the morning su (Website hidden by Airbnb)

  • Nicole was great and the place was perfect. Everything as promised. Walked every where we wanted to go, including Primo, which was amazing. Apartment was cozy and VERY clean. Nicole even left us cherries as a welcome snack.

  • The place was clean, cozy and conveniently located. The bed was comfortable and Nicole was easy to communicate with the whole time. Rockland is a totally sweet place and I wish we had more time to explore the area. I would highly recommend the place to anyone.

  • Great place! Nicole was wonderfully helpful and accommodating during out stay!

    Neil2013-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We were unsure of our arrival time, but had great communication with Nicole via text so that she was waiting for us when we arrived. She showed us around the small unit, and described how the sauna worked. The tiny kitchenette had a hot pot, teabags, coffee, and some breakfast items, and the sauna was a marvelous treat after a full day enjoying all that Rockland had to offer. The unit was also just a couple of blocks away from a fantastic Italian restaurant called Conte's.

  • This is a cute and efficient little apartment in a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance of downtown Rockland shops, restaurants, and the art museum. The apartment had everything we needed provided; it was quite warm due to some furnace issues while we were there, but Nicole is dealing with them, so it was a temporary issue. We didn't get to meet our host, but she was very accommodating in terms of arranging for us to get into the apartment while she was at work, and gave us good advice on eating establishments. Our only mistake was to leave too little time in our schedule to explore & enjoy Rockland- esp. with the art museum there, there is plenty to do & eat there to justify a longer stay. If we ever get back, we'll check to see if Nicole's place is open.

    Matthew2013-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Their place is perfect for a long weekend getaway. Within walking distance to the water, downtown, and Primo. I would definitely stay there again!

    Patrick2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Nicole's!! Nicole was easy to reach and very responsive. She checked in after the first night to see how we were enjoying our stay. The studio was as described and the location is about a 5 minute walk to all of Rockland's restaurants and shops. Nicole provided wonderful restaurant and sightseeing suggestions in Rockland and the surrounding areas. We would recommend staying with Nicole.

    Andrea2016-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Nicole's place is super nice! It was extremely clean and comfortable and very close to downtown Rockland. Nicole was also very communicative and flexible. We hope to stay at her place again the next we are visiting the Maine coast!

This is an adorable rustic but lux little get-a-way in the heart of Jackson, Maine. There are several cabins built on the property with an eye to whimsy including features like a sweeping roof line and stairs made from a bent tree. Definitely has the feel of a tree house.
This listing is for the front cabin called the Bird's Nest which is now completely renovated! We are always adding to and fluffing it. Please let us know what your needs are and we can give you an idea if this cabin might be a good fit for your escape. Situated on 10 wooded acres to wander on.... and another 100+ acres down the road with a stream, pond and woods roads for hiking!
Jackson is three miles outside of Brooks and has a little cafe that resources from some amazing local farm foods. Ralphs Cafe is seasonal so check hours. Very centrally located to Augusta, Waterville, Belfast and Bangor.
  • I had an amazing stay at the Bird's Nest Cabin! It had so much charm and all the amenities I needed and more. Jim and Doreen were very quick to respond to any requests and were very kind. The beautiful sounds of birds chirping and the desk upstairs made this a perfect writing retreat. I slept in the daybed, which was extremely comfortable. Belfast, Bangor, and Waterville are all just a short drive away. Also, check out Ralph's Cafe for breakfast or lunch when you come. I would recommend this cabin to anyone spending some time in Maine!

  • Honestly, one of the best experiences with Airbnb that I’ve had to date. Pre-arrival, Doreen sent a warm-welcome with introducing herself and letting me know that there were fresh eggs from their chickens in the fridge. My company and I fell in love with the cabin, property, as well as the surrounding area. The cabin was tidy with an adorable interior, and organically stocked with generous toiletries. The property was quiet and wooded, with a charming rural feel. The surrounding area was quaint, and the surrounding cities (such as Belfast and Bangor) were a short, scenic drive away. Acadia, however, is at a distance from the cabin; although, the views on the way to the park made the drive to and from worthwhile. All in all, hospitable hosts, relaxing cabin, and located in an area fit for anyone in search of gorgeous views and adventure.

  • Jim and Doreen are fantastic hosts. Very responsive and helpful for all of our needs. The cabin is pristine and super cozy and the location is great for visiting Belfast, Acadia, and many other great spots in Maine. Definitely one of the best Airbnbs we have stayed in. The wood burning stove was a highlight (don’t worry, there is other heating if you prefer other means). We would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a cozy spot among natural beauty!

  • Cozy cabin surrounded by trees. Great way to relax and get away. Amazing for couples

    Jason2018-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Doreen's cabin was amazing. Its clean, peaceful and has more space the you realize. I enjoyed my stay immensely and Jim and Doreen were kind and helpful.

    David2018-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly lovely hosts and an outstanding little cabin! Every inch of the cabin was beautiful and we felt right at home staying there. They truly thought of everything! Very quaint and quite private, Doreen and Jim provided us with a fire pit and guided us to a local pond! We could not of asked for a better getaway! Highly recommend staying here. We will absolutely be back!!!!

  • My girlfriend and I absolutely loved this place. It was very clean and quaint. The drive out to Acadia is around 1.5hr from here and i recommend a local restaurant in Brooks called Ralph’s which is a 10 minute drive away. Doreen is a fantastic host and was very responsive with inquiries and check-in. Can’t wait to visit Maine again!

    Zaw2018-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and 13-year-old son and I found Jim and Doreen's place while searching for Belfast area, and a rare find it was! It's hard to believe Jim and Doreen only recently became AirBnB hosts. They are absolute naturals, and their cabin (we stayed in #1) is one of our favorites of all time (we've stayed in many!). Jim is the master architect/builder, carpenter, blacksmith, and all-around handyman who turned a rustic cabin into a well insulated, cozy "modern rustic" best-of-both-worlds home away from home. And Doreen's stylish, artistic and "home" touches (her jewelry workshop is next door) are evident throughout. Perfect! This place has all necessary modern amenities (full bath, fridge, microwave, cooking plate, etc., though no dishwasher or range if you plan to bake or make a huge meal, nor onsite laundry if you plan a long stay). But for our long weekend getaway from Boston (a 3.5 hour drive without stops - avoid Route 1!), that was all moot, and a weeklong stay would also be no problem. And the memorable "little touches," to say nothing of the extraordinarily helpful and friendly hosts, made it a truly memorable stay. (My son now wants to build his own cabin, following Jim's lead in logging and milling and fashioning the ironwork right on site.) The "curving tree" straircase is pure artistry, but as noted in the ad not ideal for young children or "old" adults). But the daybed/ couch in the ground-floor living area next to the bathroom could cancel out that concern. Our son slept there and we took the comfy, new, nicely firm queen bed in the loft.) There is a Franklin woodstove to lend warmth and charm, but also electric heating if preferred. We bought fresh fish at the local lobster pound, and other locally grown veg and supplies at the small local grocery store in nearby Brooks (which also boasts a bigger grocery), and cooked on the bbq grill provided, with help from the microwave. The more camping savvy might use the firepit (with endless supply of free firewood provided!) to do some cooking - or at least make s'mores under star-thick coastal country skies. For fisher folk, the options abound, and swimmable area lakes (incl. Lake St. George not too far away) can provide warmer options to the bracing dip we took at Belfast City Park beach - in turn, much warmer than the ocean beach at Acadia National Park! The town of Belfast is a real gem, and we happened upon a weekend arts festival, beyond the ongoing weekend "arts market" held by the local artists' cooperative, and many galleries and such in town. There is even a dockside local brewer and even some wineries (we didn't try them) in the region. We made an easy day trip to Acadia on Saturday of 4th of July week, presumably among the worst for traffic, and had an easy commute, combining it with a natural "dinner stop" in Belfast on the way back. I'd much...

Featured in The Culture Trip as the #1 "Entire U.S. islands you can rent on Airbnb" Looking for your own vacation off of the beaten path? Escape the everyday chaos on your own 23 acre private island off the coast of Camden Maine. With 360 degree views, the island is packed!! with wildlife. The perfect get away for the friends and family with plenty of camping real estate across the island.
Oak Island is perhaps one of the most beautiful islands in the North Atlantic. Everywhere you look, is a Kodak moment. The lighting changes continually with atmospheric conditions as well as the time of day, making Oak Island a photographers dream come true and the nature lovers paradise. The great nature photographer Elliot Porter, photographed this area surrounding oak island extensively. Oak Island is approximately 27 acres at low tide and 17 acres at high tide with six different beaches located around it's over one mile of shoreline. There are several miles of hiking trails throughout the island. There is even a beach we call Skip rock beach which is made up of perfectly sized flat stones for skipping rocks. From May through October hundreds of different species of wildflowers are cycling through Oak Island has expanses of open meadows as well as spruce forests, sumac forests, juniper ,oak, lupine, beach rose and bayberry as well as gooseberries and cherry. The beach roses vary in color from Snow White to deep purple. Bald eagles are daily visitors and deer pass through from time to time. Oak Island has some of the most spectacular sunsets and sunrises ever. You can enjoy them on the 60 foot high knoll named Parkers Peak just behind the main cabin. Swimming on one of Oak islands many beaches is really amazing the water is crystal clear and very clean and very cold. If you swim in June, you are really, really tough as the water temperature is generally only in the 50s. By July, the water temperature reaches the low to mid 60s. By August and September water temperatures could be pushing 70 especially on a hot sunny day on the incoming tide. You can actually swim and enjoy the water without turning blue. Look at the upside, the water is too cold for sharks although you might come out with a couple of lobsters hanging on your toes. Speaking of lobsters, lobster boats pass around the island almost daily pulling their lobster traps. If you'd like to have some fresh lobsters just flag over one of the boats and get plenty of fresh lobsters usually at well below market price. And if you enjoy mussels, there are millions of them on the rocks. Best to pick them at dead low tide. It is best to clean the mussels after you pick them by scraping the barnacles off of the shells. If you do not, particles of Barnacle could get inside the muscle shell and it is very annoying to chew on a piece of barnacle shell while enjoying your delicious mussel. WE HAVE SOME NICE DRONE FOOTAGE OF OAK SHOWING SOME OF THE BEACHES. PLEASE NOTE THE CLARITY OF THE WATER ....... ENJOY ACCOMMODATIONS There are two sets of accommodations on the island for you. The main cabin is located on a knoll at an elevation of about 50 feet. It faces south, west and north. It is a one room cottage approximately 16' x 24' with a 10 foot deck running on three sides of the cottage. Inside the cabin is a gas refrigerator, and a propane cook stove and a small kitchen area. There is also a foldout futon, a sleeping area for two along the glass windows in the front of the cabin. Also a sitting area with a small library. There is also a newly built small sleeping cabin dubbed O.I.L.S. Oak Island Love Shack. The love shack, is right above the water facing east so you get those beautiful sunrises and the sound of the waves lapping against the shore while you sleep in the evening. It is one room about 12' x 14' with a queen size bed that is made from driftwood found around the island shoreline. This sleeping cottage has an enormous deck of about 15 feet wide on three sides of the cabin. Note: linens and towels are not supplied. UTILITIES Electricity in both cabins is provided by solar. You must conserve power or you could run out. We have never run out yet but if you have several cloudy days and you're using a lot of electricity that could happen. There is a shower under the main cabin as well as solar Sun bag showers available. It's also just as easy to heat up a bucket of water and have a bucket bath. Also there is an outdoor toilet, there is no plumbing. Cell phones generally work fine on the island sometimes you may have to move around a bit to get the proper location. Water is collected in vats from rain. It is fine for showering and cleaning etc. but not the drinking. You need to bring your drinking water. We recommend those 2 1/2 to 5 gallon jugs that you can buy in the grocery store. GETTING THERE If you do not have your own boat we can arrange a charter for you on a lobster boat with the lobster boat captain Barney Appleton. Captain Barney will meet you at a designated place and time in Camden Harbor. Oak island is about 11 to 15 miles east of Camden and depending on the weather, takes approximately one hour. Captain Barney provides a world of information on lobstering and the surrounding area, you'll have a lot of fun on the trip. The round trip fee is $370.00. While it's a round trip for you, it's two round trips for Barney. You can also buy lobsters from Barney at the boat at boat prices.
  • We had an absolutely delightful time. A trip of a lifetime. Perfect set-up for 8 people or so, and an exceptional value. Amazing 360 degree views of the island and the bay. Non stop outdoor activities for children (teens), snorkeling, fishing, swimming, and more. Highly recommend.

    David2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • A great place for an extended outdoor adventure. Beautiful views and beaches all around the island. A great place to find peace and quiet.

    Anthony2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • The place is incredible. Parker's dad helped to setup a last-minute drop-off at the island, and Barney was able to have fresh lobster waiting for us to take out with us. Beautiful place.

    Sean2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • You will be amazed at the beauty!!!!!! I went in the end of September and the weather was perfect. Warm sunny days and cool crisp nights that if you were to go outside around 2:30-3:00 in the morning, you will see the Milky Way and most likely many shooting stars. Very little city lights to hinder star gazing. You will also find walking paths throughout the island. They will take you to all sorts of hidden places with breathtaking views. No lack of scenery anywhere you look. The wrap-a-deck on the main cottage is spectacular with an 180 degree view looking north. Distant islands like, Bear, Fling, Eagle and Great Spuce Head Island can be seen very easily on fogless days. On the southern side of the island is the,"Sleeping Cabin." This is the perfect cabin for a couple. Paradise!!! On those windy days make the best of them and bring a kite. The northeastern field is a great spot for a day of kite flying. But, on still days with no wind the mosquitoes can be fierce. Absolutely bring bugs spray with DEET. It's the only thing that works. Homeopathic stuff will just not do. There is no running water. The outdoor shower runs by gravity. All water to clean dishes and drink is rain water that is collected and held in large barrels. For drinking water, I brought a filter that I could pump the water from the barrel into my water bottles. Or just buy plenty of drinking water at Hannafords supermarket in Camden. For dish washing, I boiled the water in a big lobster pot just to be on the safe side, and there is plenty of propane to do this. There is a "Privy," or outhouse on the southern side of island which is a minute walk down the path which has a wonderful view during your private time. So bring your "Bum Wad." Toilet paper that is. Barney Appleton is your way out to the island. He will pick you at, "Steamboat Landing," in Camden with his lobster boat. It has ample room for all your friends and or family and supplies. Barney is a terrific fella and a wealth of information. The island is perfect in my view. I will do it again next year or even earlier. I hope this is helpful

Our neighborhood is gorgeous with lots of charm but the road can get busy in the morning and afternoon commute hours.
  • Everything about the place was perfect for a quiet and private week away. Great view. Quaint situation in a the loft of an old barn. Our second day was briefly affected by a water outage that turned out to be a problem many homes in the area on private wells experienced as a result of the massive rainfall brought on by the remnants of hurricane Arthur. Maria handled the situation promptly and effectively even though she was out of town and on vacation. Water was restored while we were out for brunch. Most of the time we cooked in the loft kitchen and it worked out great. Everything was pretty basic, and that's exactly what I wanted for a home base for days spent hiking, kayaking, sailing, and hanging out on a beach. Also, several people we met knew Maria (at a great restaurant she recommended and Dan the kayak guy everyone should meet), and it felt like being welcomed into a tight knit community.

    Gwendolyn & Steven2014-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a GREAT place. Small but everything works great - shower, stove, etc. 1 minute from Lincolnville Beach - great restaurants, 15 minutes from Camden - hiking, parks, etc. Hosts were very nice

    Marc2015-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Functional loft very close to the Lincolnville beaches, perfect if you're looking more for a rental apartment than a vacation home. Has everything you need but if you want to be a little spoiled in your vacation home this is not the place for you. Proximity to the beaches is great, but it is also right next to the road, which is not obvious from the pictures. Storage is limited so you have to be creative and in the two weeks we stayed there was no cleaning or sheet changing since Maria sees it more as a rental where you are in charge to take care of that. It is also obvious that the place has been functioning for a while, appliances, carpet and cookware are dated. As I said, if you want luxury and a little pampering go somewhere else for the price, if you are looking for a cozy loft that feels more like a second home with the owner completely hands off, this is your place.

    Georg2012-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I made a last minute choice to head to Maine for our postponed honeymoon and immediately found the ocean view loft - which is a total gem. We really wanted to find a space that would feel like our home away from home and Maria's space is exactly what we were looking for. It's a quaint space, perfect for two, and still felt spacious while being cozy. Everything you will need is there - a wonderful full kitchen, a living room area with tv (awesome movie channels), comfortable bed, a wonderful view and a spacious bathroom. While even being right next door to a few other houses and Maria herself, it still felt incredibly private and like our own little escape. It's right outside of Camden, which is a cute town with plenty to do and there are two great coffeeshops about a five minute walk down the road along with Lincolnville beach and its restaurants. It's also not a far drive from other popular areas such as Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park (great day trip and a must see, hello Cadillac mountain). Overall everything you see in this listing is accurate and is a great space to enjoy your time in Maine. My husband and I plan on visiting again and would absolutely stay here over and over again.

    Alicia2016-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The loft space was wicked awesome. You could tell it was really purposefully constructed. Eating breakfast on the backporch with an ocean view was amazing. Love the beach, too. The beach isn't as rocky as they say, it's a perfect small beach to relax and take a swim. Maria was a good host and even left us a note on the barn door. When we arrived, she introduced herself to us and showed us the space. No complaints. Would recommend this place to anyone; can't wait to come back.

    Evan2014-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • beautiful place

    Susan2016-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The beach loft was a perfect getaway for a few days. Very thoughtfully appointed and a great jumping-off point for several midcoast Maine adventures. Although we didn't get a chance to meet in person, I really appreciate the communication and hope we'll have an opportunity to return!

    Drew2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time here! It's in a beautiful location which is convenient to a lot of places. Places to see and do within 15, and a quick drive to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park. I would definitely recommend this location.

One room cabin. Perfect for one to two guests. Also has a pull out couch for extra guests. About the rental-- Enjoy Coastal Maine in a lovely post-and beam cabin situated at the heart of the Valley of Stars organic farm. The cabin consists of a loft (sleeps two) and an adjoining dining and living space. There is a pull out couch in this space that could accommodate another guest. The cabin is fully furnished with towels, linens, cutlery and kitchen items. It has a small fridge, gas stove, and running hot and cold water. There are outdoor showers with hot and cold water, and an outdoor composting toilet. The loft is accessible by a somewhat steep ladder so keep this in mind if you bring children. The cabin is private but located on a working farm. This rental is ideal for those who want to be in active and enlivening surroundings! About the farm-- The Valley of the Stars Farm is home to the world class wood-fired Tinder Hearth Bakery. Svetlana, our oven, is one of the largest wood-fired ovens on the east coast. The bakery and oven were designed and hand made by devoted bakers, musicians and carpenters, a true community effort created with a tremendous amount of love. Our bakery supplies many local stores with sourdough, spelt, french batard, rye, and whole grain breads and croissants, all made with the finest organic ingredients. Tinder Hearth Bakery also bakes wood-fired pizzas. Pizza night falls on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 5 - 8. It is wise during July and August to order ahead by calling the bakery. This popular local take-out scene is an opportunity for you not to have to cook and enjoy a delicious, wholesome meal! Valley of the Stars Farm is an active farm. You will be staying at a place that starts up early. Our gardener, also our community herbalist Rachel Randall, grows medicinal herbs and flowers which are used for her apothecary and herbal formulas, she has a wonderful business called Meristem Herb Co. I run Lake Larsson's School of Ukulele here. You are more than welcome to try a class or private ukulele lesson. During the summer we host monthly Open Mic nights in the barn. People from all around come and perform. Local opportunities and adventures-- The Ocean (10-15 min walk, 5 min drive): ocean swimming is minutes away. There is a row boat to use and local wildlife (including seals) abounds! BKS Iyengar Yoga Center studio (5 min walk): this studio is very spacious and beautiful; you can walk to yoga classes! Owner and director Kim Peralta was introduced to the Iyengar method in 1987 by the late senior Iyengar teacher Mary Dunn. She began training in India under B.K.S. Iyengar and the Iyengar family in 1989, and has taught the Iyengar method for twenty-four years. There are plenty of beginner classes for those who love yoga. Organic farming: For those interested in organic farming, Elliot Coleman's world famous Four Seasons Farm as well as the Scott and Ellen Neering Good Life Center are a short drive away. Our next door neighbors run a goat farm producing lovely creamy cheeses and goat milk. They host a summer movie series in their barn. Other day trips: Opportunities for sailing and sea kayaking as well as pottery studios, art galleries, and farmers markets are all close by. Acadia National Park is a short 50 min jaunt away. We are also 25 minutes from the fishing village of Stonington, one of Maines largest fishing towns and the heart of the Maine lobster industry. The night sky is phenomenal. The town of Brooksville has a category 3 sky and is fabulous for stargazing. I have deep sky binoculars which are available for use on the property. We are 4 miles from Buck's Harbor, which boasts a deep harbor, town marina, Yacht Club, a general store and Bucks restaurant which serves wonderful dinners with ingredients from local farms. Brooksville is bounded on the west by Penobscot Bay, on the north and east by the Bagaduce River (a tidal estuary), and on the south by the famous sailing waters of Eggemoggin Reach. It is nearly an island, with just two slim land bridges to the rest of the mainland, and 54 miles of shoreline. This gives it a protected, insular quality beloved by summer and year-round residents alike. The coastal town of Blue Hill (20 min drive) has shops, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, a supermarket, gas stations, a hospital, banks, etc. On summer nights the Blue Hill Waterfront Town Park hosts weekly street dances under the stars with Flash in the Pans, the area's long-standing community steel drum band. The Blue Hill Peninsula is home to the chamber music venue Kneisal Hall, the Stonington Opera House and the Grand Auditorium, offering concerts featuring international artists in everything from Shakespeare productions to live classical, folk, jazz, rock, and world music performances. Brooksville and its surrounding area is a great vacation spot with so much to do. If you would like to try staying in a rural community setting in a top notch cabin this is the place for you. We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you soon!
  • Lake's cabin is charming, well appointed and exactly as advertised. The perfect lodgings to explore and experience the flavor and natural beauty of the area. The only drawback from my perspective is that the wi-fi does not reach the cabin and you must sit n the yard or barn to connect. I highly recommend the cabin and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

    Sarah2013-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were not able to get away for our overnight because of a medical problem but Lake was extremely considerate of our situation and we are looking forward to rebooking with her in the near future.

    Cheryl2014-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Lake's. The outdoor shower was my personal favorite, it was a nice relaxing and picturesque location. We were sorry to have missed the bread and pizza...we'll just have to come back again!

  • The coastal cabin is set off the main road overlooking rolling fields and surrounded by organic flower and vegetable gardens. It is rustic and rather quaint with high beamed ceilings and a kitchen equipped with all the necessities. There is an easy-to-climb ladder to a loft bedroom, which is pleasant and cozy, with a good futon, and a pull-out sofa-bed in the main cabin as well, where my room mate slept and which she said was perfectly comfortable. The cabin is not large - I don't know how it would feel for more than two, but for two guests it was perfect. A short stroll along a path brings you to the separate outhouse and shower, both of which are clean, pleasant, and sweet-smelling. The outhouse is actually a two-seater, so this might be an opportunity for special closeness with your companion... or not. Also, there is a table and several chairs set up on the door-step, which expanded the space and made it pleasant to gather with friends and to watch the goats at a distance in the next pasture over. We arrived on a Friday when the brick-oven bakery was making pizza and we reserved a couple of pizzas in the afternoon before we went off for a yoga workshop at The Iyengar Yoga Center of Brooksville just a short walk up the road. The pizzas were delicious. All in all, our experience was very happy, and we would definitely recommend this place to friends and wish to stay there again ourselves.

  • Although we didn't meet Lake, we met the people she works with and her daughter. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. We found a part of the world we would never have seen otherwise. The pizza was fantastic. The cabin was so cute and comfortable. I loved the outdoor shower. I recommend this place for people that enjoy the unusual and a little adventure.

  • There aren't words for how amazing of an experience this was. We always knew we wanted to see Maine, but didn't know where to start. Honestly, we picked this cabin because it looked cute and we decided to explore the area around it (whatever that turned out to be) and just let our Maine adventures play out. The experience was magical. You are surrounded by forest and sea at every turn. TONS of cool small communities all around where shopkeepers, bakers, and farmers chat and share their amazing stories. The cabin is out of a fairy tale. It is so cozy and has everything you would need to relax and unwind (plus fun exploring gear like lanterns, headlamps, use of a rowboat, etc). The outdoor shower is better than any fancy spa (in my opinion), and the walks through the garden are like heaven on earth. Tinder Hearth bakery makes THE BEST pizzas and scones, and the staff is so friendly and engaging. Be sure to make it to at least one of the pizza nights. So communal. Finally, a few words about Lake...she is warm and was generous to a fault. She created a home-made travel guide that we used to plan our day trips and even invited us to a gig that she and her grown children, Tim and Bridget, were playing in a nearby town. She has created an environment at Valley of the Stars that radiates love and good energy. The whole time we were there, my partner and I kept saying to each other, "...next year, when we come back..." And we will surely be back! I am homesick for the little farm already. Stay here. You will not regret it!!

    Misty2015-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was raining heavily when I arrived at the Coastal Cabin (and only that first night). So I got a perfect start: I lit a fire in the oven and just sat there on the comfy couch, watched the flames and listened to the rain outside. Couldn't imagine a more peaceful and quite place at that moment. But didn't sit there forever - as there was a social event going on: Pizza Night. Happening in the bakery situated on the same grounds, run by Lake's son and his family&friends. Make sure to spend at least one friday and/or tuesday at the Cabin, so you can see this unique restaurant pop up for a couple of hours. Locals and summer guests sitting together talking, eating gorgeous pizza and drinking wine they brought. Sound great? It is. And also: Buy their bread while you have the chance. Another opportunity you really should take advantage of: Take a Ukulele-lesson! Lake is a great teacher - besides being an incredibly nice and warm-hearted person. And it really doesn't take much to learn your first little song on the Ukulele. Besides these special events the place is simply good for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the nature. Look at the stars at night - and at the fireflies. Drive the scenic roads to Cape Rosier and Deer Isle or walk down to the sea a - there is plenty to do and see. And of course: Enjoy the fresh breeze in the outdoor-shower!

Sedgwick is a small village on the Blue Hill Peninsula. It's very rural and quiet. Blue Hill (a 15-minute drive away) offers restaurants and shopping. Stonington, a picturesque fishing village, is also a short drive away (17 miles; about 1/2 hour). Lots of opportunities for hiking, boating, birdwatching, beachcombing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or just watching the tide come in and out.
  • Beautiful space! Lovely host!

    Alex2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • This rental was by far one of the BEST ones we’ve stumbled upon...and it’s right in our backyard! We weren’t planning on renting something for our kid’s spring break, but our family of four was just feeling the need to GET AWAY from it all - the noise, the songs and bells and to dos, the people... and plug into nature, ourselves, and each other. And then we found this gem of a place. The reviewers did not lie... from the moment you arrive, and drive past the main house and head alllllll the way down to this place on the water, you literally feel like your in your own land- your own country, on the water, with just you and whomever is with you as the inhabitants of this beautiful space. What seems like a non-description humble space, opens up and unfurls itself the moment you walk through the door and see this wall of windows, with windows on either end, too, that show you nothing but water and air and birds (Website hidden by Airbnb) people! So good! And....the kitchen is SO well equipped, the linens are clean and crisp, the couches are comfy and wrap you up like a hug, the floors are heated underneath your feet. Anne was a lovely host and was just a text away for help or info in case we need it-which we didn’t. So so so so good! Don’t hesitate...just rent it.we’ll be back for sure!

    Lael2018-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Anne's cottage was a treat. It's located right on the water, which made for a fantastic scenery. We loved waking up and watching the tide come in. The cottage itself was rustic, spacious, comfortable and clean. The fully-equipped kitchen was a big plus, too. And despite temperature in the low teens outside, we were pleasantly warm the whole time. We recommend Anne's cottage to anyone looking for a scenic, quiet and comfortable getaway.

    Maciej2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is an ideal spot that encompasses all I love about Maine. The beautiful light at any time of day, the flow of the tides, the deep woods and fresh air, the calls of myriad birds and then gulping frogs at night. Peaceful, restorative and quite magical.

    Gillian2018-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures can't do the place justice and certainly can't capture the magic of pure darkness as night falls--no neighboring lights as you look across the bay! The house was clean and well-stocked, the living area spacious, and the location can't be beat.

    Frank2018-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly what we were looking for. I wanted to enjoy the beauty of Maine and explore the area. I did not find it "secluded" more like private and beautiful. It was a quick trip into the cute town of Blue Hill for good food, lovely shops and great coffee (Bucklyn Coffee). The space was even nicer than the pictures. So open with wonderful views. We were even "greeted" by a family of deer right when we arrived. Every thing was nice and clean, great layout, comfortable bed. Anne was super easy to communicate with. We used her recommendations that she left for us along with the instructions and they were all spot on. We went to Acadia and Bar Harbor for the day and with little traffic it was an easy hour and 10 or so minutes to get there. I think almost any one would feel lucky to stay here.

  • Had a wonderful stay at Lily's place. When we arrived, the place was cozy and well put together. There were lovely welcoming touches that made us feel at home immediately. Lily was readily available for any questions that we had, and was more than accommodating. The space is great, and more than big enough for 2-4 people. There is lovely art all over the house and the setup is conducive to conversation. There is no television, so if that is a deal breaker, this might not be the place for you. However, there is wifi access readily available. The house is located off of a major road, so if the sound of cars driving by while you're sleeping bothers you, you might have some difficulty at night (unless you bring a white noise machine with you). About the area: The location was convenient, about a 10 minute drive to downtown Camden. Based on the location, there was not much in the way of ride share availability, so we relied on Schooner Bay taxi to go in and out of town (about $14 each way). Sometimes the taxi would be ready in 10 minutes, and sometimes it would not be available for an hour, so make sure to plan accordingly. When it comes to nightlife, Camden itself is a quiet little town that closes early. There are plenty of excellent restaurants (try to get a reservation for Long Grain if you like Thai food) and small shops, but most places closed around 10-11 during our stay.

    Jon2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great recommendations from Lily, seriously, listen to what she says. Extraordinarily clean and uncluttered. Easy to get in and out, very safe area.

    Lindy2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lily's place was exactly as advertised and we loved it. The place was charming, spacious, clean, with tons of sunlight. She provided chocolate and granola bars to welcome us and shared tea and coffee. Plus she had multiple lists for recommendations. She was extremely clear and prompt in her communications. We had a great time!

    Adam2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lily's place is simple, beautiful, cozy - just as described. She has been quite thoughtful in how things are laid out and how the space works. It is a lovely area!

  • A great value of a place located close but outside the busy tourist zones. I very nice play ( decorated and supplied with dishes) right on Route 1 ( Though convenient it is a bit noisy) Make sure you clarify how many people will be staying as the first floor has a nice master room and living/kitchen room, but the third floor is accessible only by a precarious ladder and being the third floor is quite hot.

The cantina is a woodsy cabin finished completely in pine. The two bedrooms-one upstairs in the loft and one downstairs have a queen bed and a twin top/futon bottom bunk. The kitchenette has an antique farm sink, fridge, k cup coffee maker and small electric cook top. The bathroom has a tiled shower, antique porcelain corner sink and of course a Maine style eco friendly commode! Coffee and firewood are provided. Located near Belfast on our 70 acre farm. Private massage available.
The cantina is one of three cabins we have here at the farm. There are all special in their own way. If the cabina isn’t available during your needed dates check out the links below to view the others. The cantina is a two bedroom cabin, with a kitchen and bathroom. (No running water during cold season. Guests use farmhouse for showers.)In the common space there is a wood stove and seating area. In addition to the wood stove there is also an infrared heater which keeps the chill off while you explore away from the cabin during the day and will be on prior to your arrival to warm it up. For the warmer season there is a ceiling fan but no air conditioning. Guests are welcome to use our firewood. The kitchen and bathroom have hot running water provided by a mini 4 gallon tank hot water heater which is perfect for a shower. The toilet is an eco bucket style camp potty. Very common when you're "up to camp" in Maine. Bedding and towels are also provided for our guests. Although we can provide you with any dishes and cook ware you may need many guests enjoy the local restaurants. We encourage guests to bring their own cookware and dishes, or use the paper products provided especially during the winter when the cabin doesn’t have running water as washing everything is done at the farmhouse this time of year. Just let us know what you will need and we will be happy to help. It's a private space but within eye sight of two other cabins including "the sunhouse" and "the blueberry house” both listed on Airbnb as well. Check out these links to view. https://abnb.me/aR7SXWzWhL https://abnb.me/OFXXQslXhL In the winter we do have a lot of snow and ice and there are lots of walking trails so be sure to bring appropriate footwear. *no running water November to April! Guests may use the shower in the farmhouse. Please bring your own cookware and dishes in the cold season if you plan to cook. Only paper plates and cups are provided. Price drop during off season*
We are seven miles to Belfast with many options for dining and entertainment. The Brooks village offers necessities like Ralphs Cafe, JP's convenience store and gas, and the Marsh River Coop for local products.
  • Lovely cabin in the woods. Would be utterly perfect if there was running water!

    Julie2016-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Communication with Elen was great and the Cantina is a lovely cabin. Unfortunately, dishes left by previous guests were not clean, the lack of spoons and generally expected cooking/eating equipment, a leaky water cooler and no suitable firewood dampened our experience.

    Beth2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Could not have had a better experience!! When I pulled in, Ellen and her husband came out to say hello and give me the directions to the cabin but were pretty much invisible for the rest of the stay. (Although, comfortingly just up the hill.) The cabin is WONDERFUL. Exactly what I wanted for my weekend adventure. The fire was going when I arrived and the sun was setting so the place felt magical. After settling in, I ran out to the nearest town 15 min away to grab dinner, then settled in by the fire to read. The best part was waking in the morning to the sunrise that was visible from all the windows around the bed. The house has all the creature comforts you need, minus the running water (probably because it was winter) but there's a jug dispenser so I had plenty of hot and cold water for coffee and drinking. The cabin is set off of a pasture with a path that leads down through the woods right out front, that made for a nice evening walk. The location is perfect for "off the grid" but close enough to a bustling town and to the coast to get back into my trip. I'll definitely be back!

    Sasha2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • A secluded place excellent for those looking for a more rustic accommodations. Ellen was a great host a very flexible. Thank you Ellen.

    Sean2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was OK in all respects. The host was nice but ambivalent. She couldn't bother to respond when I wrote to her telling her why I left the cabin in the middle of my reservation. She also never cleaned the plastic bag in the composting toilet which was disgusting!!!

    Judy2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I brought our dog to Elen's farm and we stayed in the Cantina. It's a lovely space with a loft and large living room area. Elen was great - providing fresh water and towels and everything we needed. She was always quick to respond. It's quiet and very charming on the land. Within ten minutes of the great town of Belfast with some great food and shopping. Would definitely stay again and you should too!

  • I thoroughly enjoyed my 2-week stay. Lisa is very friendly, open and uncomplicated and she made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. Her home is very warm and inviting in a wonderful location within a short walking distance to the small, beautiful downtown Rockport area, which includes one of the most picturesque harbors in the area. The accommodations matched the descriptions perfectly and my experience confirmed all the other reviews that have been written.

    Sven2015-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa checked in with me each day ensuring a wonderful experience. Her home is on a quite side street but within easy walking distance to two excellent restaurants and Rockport harbor. It also was less than five minutes to downtown Camden. For the single traveler, the room was simple, but comfortable.

    Rob2015-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • My stay was very short (one night) and very sweet: it was a clean, well-lighted and cozy room in a wonderful house in a beautiful town. Lisa was a warm and welcoming host who made everything easy.

    Rachel2018-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's house was so lovely! I was looking for a quintessential New England/Maine experience and I think I certainly got it!! The room was great- simple and beautiful. Lisa gave me great suggestions for hiking and swimming in the area, and even lent me a bathing suit. She was a gracious host, and I felt right at home. Rockport was charming, and Camden was great. Plenty to do and lots of cute shops. Definitely recommend a stay here!

  • Creative, straightforward, and kind hosting. I would happily return. This is an artist's home, with a working studio in the front room and a host who has a lot going on and a very good vibe. I only wish I had more time to visit.

    Dona2018-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa Morgan was a caring and courteous host. I felt at home. I appreciated the house where the guest room is located, as it benefits from being in a quiet, yet central neighborhood of Rockport, ME, which encourages an easy walk to good restaurants and its spectacular harbor (Website hidden by Airbnb) On the second floor, the guest room is appropriately sized for including a spacious desk with lighting and drawers. The room has two windows and an open closet with shelves and a clothe- rod. I found the single sized bed very comfortable. Next to the room, a bathroom with a tub happened to be available during my two-week stay. A small bathroom with a shower stall was also available downstairs (Website hidden by Airbnb) was free to use the whole kitchen, although the refrigerator was usually crowded. I'd definitely check for availability next time I'd wish or need to stay in Rockport again.

  • I had a great stay in Rockport. Lisa is very welcoming and accommodating, and her home is lovely. Test drive tiny house living. The tiny house is close to downtown Belfast and Camden. 90 minutes from Acadia National Park too. It's the most unique, cozy, and fun housing choice in mid-coast Maine. Ocean access too :) I built a tiny house and I keep her in Northport for the summer. When I'm not traveling with her, I rent her out. Full amenities, central heat, full bed, towels, kitchen, 24 hour-private access. Lots of natural light, quiet area, and full privacy.
Get the tiny house experience. 128 square feet of awesomeness. The place is very cozy in both the sleeping area and common area. We have everything you need. Full size bed, shower, towels, private access, kitchen, hot water, refrigerator, heat, hot plate, plates, bowls, utensils.
I grew up in Belfast and it's an awesome town, so many things going on in the summer. Camden is also very nice but with a different vibe than Belfast.

  • Awesome to have ocean access a quick 2 minute walk away!! Belfast, a 5 minute drive away, is a charming, artistic Maine town with cute shops, great for wandering. The space was kept clean and larger than expected. All the necessary amenities are included. It was super fun to stay in such a unique and fun space, felt like a kid again to climb up to the lofted bedroom. And you cannot beat the location on the gorgeous Maine coast.

  • I loved living in this tiny house for three days. Measuring water usage, steps to the door, considering our impact on the environment and living simply is freeing. We had space to cook, dance and make art and only bumped into each other on purpose. Thank you Chris for building such a creative space.

Walk to town in 15 minutes from this sunny, stylish apartment. Enjoy all that Camden has to offer; hiking, dining, boating and beaches. This peaceful location has a lovely back yard with Ferns, Lupines and wildflowers with seating and a grill. Apartment has wood floors, plenty of sunlight and good flow with washer & dryer. Apartment is up one flight of stairs on top floor of an 1876 farmhouse. You can walk to town down the sidewalk on our quiet residential street. Wifi & Pets are welcome.
Freshly renovated and painted with wood floors, this sunny upstairs apartment has a washer and dryer and is located on a quiet street in a farmhouse built in 1870. Back yard is available and we encourage our guests to use it; enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning, or dinner amidst ferns, flowers and the occasional free roaming hen. Bathroom has shower with grab rail. Living room has daybed. This is an old house and sound does travel from one apartment to the next. You might hear the people downstairs and most guests do not have a problem with this, but it is something to be aware of you are very sensitive to noise. Apartment does not have a TV, but has microwave, full oven and stove, refrigerator, coffee maker & toaster.
Quaint residential neighborhood 15 minute stroll down sidewalk to downtown Camden with shops and restaurants and the harbor. Back yard is pastoral and has flowers, ferns and lots of wildlife and walking paths.
  • We loved the apartment, which was perfect for our family of 4 (and dog). It had renovations and amenities that ensured we were comfortable, along with great rustic elements such as the wood floors and kitchen sink basin. Hillary and her family were helpful and accessible, without being intrusive. The apartment is in a quiet, residential neighborhood, about a 10 minute walk into town -- great for those who want to explore the area, but value having a retreat away from the bustle of tourists and the waterfront. Highly recommended.

  • Loved staying here! The apartment is the perfect mix of being well designed without being too stuffy. The entire space was flooded with sun and was just a happy space. The backyard was also a real treat and allowed us to take in the late afternoon sun with wine and cheese. Hillary was a great hosts and she gets extra points for leaving fresh flowers throughout the apartment. We hope to be back very soon.

  • Hillary's place was a delight to stay in. It was clean, near to town, quiet and delightful. We had a lovely time!

  • We loved the little apartment on Pearl Street. It was such a quiet street, we were surprised when we walked down to Camden how many people were actually in the area. We brought our dog with us and enjoyed walking him around the neighborhood, it's a very dog friendly place.

  • Beautiful apartment in quiet neighborhood. The yard is beautiful with chickens roaming around. Very good location.

  • Hillary was there to meet us as we approached the house. The pictures accurately portray the apartment. On closer inspection you see more of the touches that give this apartment a creative, spare--but rich! European feel. The bed was very comfortable,,the artwork delightful, the lighting, both artificial and natural, just right. Hillary offered us green and brown eggs from her chickens and I've never had better! The back yard faces a woodsy area and provided habitat for spring peepers which sang to us each evening. Walking to town and to the small but charming Laite Beach was easy. Grocery store with all you might need is a short drive from the apartment. We were comfortable here and inspired by the artistry behind every detail and felt very supported by Hillary who also respected our need for privacy. We would happily return!

  • A great place to stay while checking out Camden and the surrounding area. Lovely, well-maintained farmhouse with ample sunlight and friendly hosts who live next door. Definitely recommended!

Cozy cabin set in the woods surrounded by fields. The ocean is close by as are beautiful lakes and streams. Very close to historic Castine and the Maine Maritime Academy. Blue Hill is a short drive and Acadia National Park is about one hour away.
My home is small but cozy. The main floor has a kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, laundry. It is set well off the road partly in a field and wooded area. The attic is yet unfinished but has two single beds.
  • Great place to stay, very accommodating, great communication!

  • Great secluded cottage for a quiet getaway!

    Daniel2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This rustic, secluded cabin gave us plenty of space to sort out our gear before a camping trip.

  • The location of Geoffrey's home is lovely and peaceful. In the evening we saw the stars above and lightning bugs in the trees. The kitchen had everything we needed. We had a very comfortable stay. Nice drive into Castine to take in the coast too!

  • Great space that can accommodate a whole family. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend Geoffrey’s place to anyone visiting Maine.

  • Geoffrey is a wonderful host. He was very warm and welcoming and had many helpful insights about the area. We really enjoyed the cottage. He built it himself- which is pretty awesome! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the thoughtful touches - pancake batter, local eggs, local syrup, locally roasted coffee, a full kitchen, extra toiletries, and so much more. We really enjoyed our stay and wish it had been longer!

Our two bedroom one bath ocean front cottage is tucked away on a private road in Owls Head, ME. Private beach with great views of Muscle Ridge Chanel. Close to food and art in Rockland and Camden. Interior is dated, but clean and comfortable.
Great location right on a quiet cove.
On a private dirt road with 6 other cottages.
  • My husband and I just spent 3 nights/4days at this cottage. It was exactly as described- cute and private. The cottage was well equipped to make meals, the living room was cozy & clean. The view from the porch & yard are even more spectacular than the pictures. We enjoyed swimming and walking on the beach (during low tide). We have AT&T and did not have any cell service which was exactly what we wanted. It was handy to have printed directions/instructions. Overall, this space was amazing & we would absolutely return to this amazing cottage.

  • We had a wonderful time at Nathaniel's cottage. Location, location, location, that says it all. We sat on the chairs or in the screened in porch & watched the world go by. We went to Rockland several times, Port Clyde, Thomaston, had great lunches & dinners. All & all had a wonderful time. Great cottage to get away. Wayne & Sue

  • The owner provided exact instructions for access to the cabin and it looked just like the picture. It was very clean, neat and cozy inside and the deck outside was really nice.

  • This is a good place to "disconnect" and relax. Fantastic views and comfortable amenities.

    Charles2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage right on the water. We spent Memorial Day Weekend enjoying activities like kayaking right from the cottage (note: launch is a bit tricky) to nightlife in Rockland. A great time. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice relaxing getaway.

  • This little cottage is a great little getaway! Nathaniel is accommodating and responsive - it was a breeze to communicate, even as our arrival time was delayed by traffic! Nathaniel has described the cottage well - a little "dated," but cute, comfortable, clean and cozy. The location is perfect - right on the rocky Maine waterfront with a beautiful view from the porch (and bedroom window). It's on a private road, so you have a couple neighbors, but the natural landscape around the cottage gives you plenty of privacy. The peaceful waterfront makes this cottage a great place to relax and do nothing, or if you want more activity there are a few state parks nearby (Owls Head, Birch Point), and lots of things to do (kayak tours, schooner tours, etc - offices can be found in the town of Rockland). Definitely grab a bite to eat at Owls Head General store (voted best burger in Maine) or in the town of Rockland (the world capital of lobster). It's also worth a trip to the Owls Head Lighthouse where you can get a 360 degree view of the Penobscot Bay.

  • My dream for our 50th wedding anniversary was to spend time on the coast of Maine in fall to experience the colors AND be on the water. This was the first place I saw on Airbnb, and it fit my wishes perfectly. We spent 10 Days, using Nathaniels cabin as our base, exploring up to Bangor, west to Augusta, and south to Booth Bay Harbor. And each night we came back to our place in the woods. It's very secluded and peaceful, with only the sounds of the birds to enjoy. Virtually no internet, cell phone or tv service. But lots, and I do mean lots, of movies on cd and tape, puzzles, games, books, etc. The screened in porch is a great place to relax, when the temperature cooperates.
