Art Museum
$$$
“Portland may not be the art mecca as cities like New York or Chicago are, but it does have a modestly sized museum that offers some classic and contemporary art pieces, as well as local and Native American art. It’s actually one of the oldest museums in the country and it’s worth the trip for any art lover. Tickets are $20 for adults, and free for kids under 17, making it a great place to visit for families.”

“Great place to get an amazing view of Portland. We rarely go in the historic mansion but you can certainly do that too for a fee :)”

Garden

“One of Portland's coolest and most beautiful spots in a sketchy area. The Chinese Gardens are a full block radius oasis in Chinatown and so worth the visit. They have the Tao of Tea teahouse inside and you can easily spend a couple of hours relaxing and wandering and taking photos and having tea. Just be aware that Chinatown is not a nice area. It's an intriguing contrast. ”

Donut Shop

“This is a hugely popular donut shop. During the summer expect long lines out the door. It is right next to the famous wall that is painted "Keep Portland Weird".”

Mexican Restaurant

“A sustainably-oriented tiny taqueria, Por Que No is filled to the brim with festive decorations, Day of the Dead wall hangings, and our Lady of Guadalupe iconography. The counter is crowded with jugs of house-made agua fresca in seasonal fruit flavors, which can be drunk by themselves or mixed into pint glasses of their famous margaritas. Don’t miss the banana-leaf barbacoa tacos.”

Ice Cream Shop
$$
“Probably Portland’s best (definitely the most famous) ice creamery hands down. With creative flavor combinations and a rotating monthly menu of fresh offerings, they encourage sampling all the flavors you want before selecting your choice. The split scoop option makes it easy when you can’t make up your mind because they are all so delicious!”

Café

“The magic of a meal at Sweedeedee cannot be overstated; every plate is arranged with care and finished with beautiful rustic touches, from the small violet flower petals sprinkled on a chilled leek soup to the flaked sea salt dusting the fresh green side salad that accompanies almost every dish. Breakfast is most popular (and the hype well-deserved), but lunch is a relaxed and luxurious affair. In the evenings, the breakfast shop becomes Sardine Head, a destination for natural wine — it’s worth a visit for hard-to-find glass pours and small snacks.”

Beer Garden

“This spot has a great food cart pod and seating area next to it, including local favorites Matt’s BBQ, Native Bowl and Teppanyaki Hut for sushi burritos.”

Peruvian Restaurant

“This is a nice restaurant in the Pearl District. I would suggest getting a reservation. If you decide to wing it, sometimes you can sit in the bar area, and they often time have live Spanish guitar music there.”
