“Oakland Zoo is the perfect destination for a day trip with your family. Learn about wildlife conservation, see amazing animals, or attend one of our many interactive and educational programs. Nestled in the 525-acre Knowland Park in the Oakland Hills, the zoo houses more than 700 native and exotic animals. The exhibits are organized geographically and reflect the ecosystems of the animals' native habitats. Visitors can enjoy rotating cultural exhibits in the education center, and kids will love the new butterfly garden and the rides area, with a roller coaster, an endangered species carousel, and a train. New American Restaurant

“This place never disappoints. The food is outstanding, the wine list is top notch, and the cocktails are great too. It's a bit of a splurge, but wonderful for a date night or a special night out with friends. NOTE: Next door Southie (owned by the same people) is also a more casual, low-key option--but equally as delicious! In 15 years, we've never been disappointed by either of these places. ”

Basketball Stadium
“We have this little-known basketball team called the Golden State Warriors. LOL. Before their move to San Francisco proper, the Warriors call Oracle Arena their home. It's a costly experience, but one most people do not regret. Oracle Arena is also one of the larger concert venues. My wife and I have seen Depeche Mode, Arcade Fire, Jay-Z, Smashing Pumpkins and more. If you need ticket advice, then feel free to ask. ”

“The Lafayette Reservoir is an open-cut man-made terminal water storage reservoir owned and operated by the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD). Completed in 1933, it was intended solely as a standby water supply for EBMUD customers.[a] EBMUD opened the reservoir for public recreation in 1966.[3] It is located off of California State Route 24 and a mile from the Lafayette BART station, in Contra Costa County, California, United States. This all-year, day-use area is ideal for hiking, jogging, fishing, boating and picnicking. The reservoir is on the Lafayette-Orinda border.”
