A family holiday home, accessed by a private lane, and situated in an attractive orchard garden beside the shore of Lough Sheelin. Light and airy in summer, it's cosy in winter with an open fire, but needs redecoration; old fashioned home comforts. Crover House is 5 minutes away, so we provide a convenient base for guests attending weddings there. Arley offers a relaxing rural stop-over for visitors exploring the Wild Atlantic Way and west or north west destinations. Dublin Airport 68 miles.
A generous size twin bedroom with a wash basin; also a very pleasant single bedroom. Guests have sole use of the bathroom, as well as shared use of the living room. Other than visitors attending weddings, anticipated guests are fly fishers visiting Lough Sheelin, for whom advice and fishing records going back to 1960s are available. Packed lunches / teas can be provided, with a Kelly's Kettle and full basket.
"The Garden of Eden is vanished they say, But I know where it remains still. From Granard turn left at the bridge of Finea, And you will find it half way to Cootehill." So Percy French wrote in his ballard Come Back Paddy Reilly to Ballyjamesduff. And Arley is that halfway point on the map! The immediate locality around Lough Sheelin is most attractive, as well as being famous for its wild brown trout fishing. Additionally, there is plenty to interest passing visitors; the Loughcrew Megalithic Cairns, Mullaghmeen Forest Park and Fore Abbey are close by, and the house provides a convenient overnight near to the Boyne Valley Drive. Just to the north, the Cavan Burren, Florence Court and the Marble Arch Caves are a firm favourite with visitors. If you enjoy birdsong, love water fowl (grebe, mallard, with wintering visitors) and wildlife (we have red squirrel, pine martin, and buzzards, as well as foxes!) this is a location that you will enjoy. The Cavan County Museum, nearby at Ballyjamesduff, is well worth a visit - and it has a section devoted to Percy French!
  • Lovely man!

  • I stayed with Patrick at Arley Lodge for 3 nights at the end of May for The Mayfly fishing on Lough Sheelin. Patrick was a fantastic host from start to finish and was very hospitable in terms of checking in/out. The accommodation was ideal for my purpose, as I had sole use of the harbour at Arley Point which was a matter of yards from the property. Patrick provided a cooked breakfast on all 3 mornings and even added his own personal touch with his herbs from the garden to accompany his delicious omelettes. Advice & assistance was also given regarding the local area and many stories were shared regarding the fishing on Sheelin, upon which he was very knowledgeable. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Arley Lodge and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. 5 ⭐️

  • Patrick's house is what an estate agent would call 'original' but that should just be the biggest compliment!! It is so wonderful in its setting and history and Patrick is the loving caretaker of it all. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and recommend his hospitality!

Crossdrum is situated an hour from Dublin in Ireland's Ancient East. A house full of charm and character with a warm welcome set in tranquil surroundings amid rolling farmland. Near to many lakes and ancient sites including Lough Crew Megalitic Cairns and Lough Sheelin. An ideal stopping off point for the west coast with it's Wild Atlantic Way. Suitable for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids).
Please note that there are three rooms listed for Crossdrum separately, a double and two singles. Just to be aware of that when you are booking. Crossdrum is located an hour and 15 minutes from Dublin airport in a rural and very scenic part of Co.Meath, Lough Crew megalithic cairns (5000 years old and aligned with the equinox) and the house and gardens with it's adventure centre are 5 minutes away. Lough Sheelin, one of a dozen brown trout lakes remaining in Europe, is 10 minutes. Mullaghmeen beech wood (the largest in Ireland) is 5 minutes away with it's extensive walking paths. Tullnally Castle and Fore Abbey are nearby. Cycling and lake swimming are also a great way to spend time in this beautiful area. Oldcastle village with grocery stores and a bank/ATM is 5 minutes where you can enjoy a quiet pint in one of it's traditional pubs. Crossdrum is a sympathetically renovated 1826 georgian gate lodge. It is quirky and full of character with traditional Irish farmhouse furniture. It is set in rolling farmland, at the end of a quiet lane with a view to the Cairns. There are three bedrooms available. (Each room is separately listed) A small double and two singles with a shared bathroom upstairs and a bathroom downstairs for guests sole use.
  • Lovely house, very peaceful location with lovely meadow views and a short drive to our wedding venue, with a lift offered to us from Jill’s daughter so kind of her. Our breakfast was gorgeous, homemade bread/granola/jam and organic yogurt, plenty of coffee too Highly recommend this traditional Irish farm house with very interesting art and ornaments displayed throughout the house, we were the only guests which made it even extra special Thanks Jill Amanda & co

  • Lovely house in countryside, but close to Oldcastle. The breakfast was really good and homemade.

    Francesco2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn't have asked for a better way to end our trip than with a night at Jill's place! She is incredibly warm and welcoming and as the other reviewers have noted, makes a great breakfast. Definitely check out the cairns and try to have dinner at Crover while you're there.

    Gautam2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • It was much better that i was waiting for!, im coming with several sleep problems, but in her place i found the calm necessary to come down and i could sleep more than 7hrs for first time in long time. Her place is absolutely lovely, all the love inside in the smallest details, from the decoration until her self made bread!, all is fantastic!.. if you really need a break from the city and the stress, here is the right place!.. you will get a safe, clean and all perfect to come down. To be far away from all it was all what i need it!.. but if you need to move you can get a taxi for a fair price to drive you somewhere. In jills house you will feel confident like home. I can just recommend it from heart. The next time i will go for longer time!..

    Tania2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We greatly enjoyed our stay at Jill's place. Her place has a lot of character, and Jill's hospitality was outstanding. Definitely recommend it as lovely place to stay.

    Curtis2019-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic place to stop and spend a few days. There are many things to do in the area, but my favorite thing was to spend time walking in the countryside and looking at the amazing views. You don't even have to leave the house to do this. Outside the kitchen/breakfast nook window lies a hill with and without gorgeous black and white cows grazing or looking on as you eat. The combination of the greenest of grass, the black and white and various skies full of birds were my favorite part of the stay. My next favorite was the build of the home and the interesting things you might see around it. Staying there was a delight and a memory that I will take home with me and cherish.

  • Rosemary is a wonderful host, and this little cabin in a hidden treasure, wonderfully clean and spotless and very relaxing. We had an event to attend but honestly wanted to spend all our time here. We will definitely return to take some timeout from busy lives. We also got to take home some wonderful honey and fresh produce from Rosemary's garden, which is just fantastic. Eileen

  • Amazing place, so peaceful and cute. Can not recommend enough!

    Bailey2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely host, a beautiful cabin in a fabulous countryside location. To be able to sit out on the patio and enjoy breakfast whilst listening to the birds was so tranquil, then at night to sit out again and watch the shooting stars and the milky way snuggled up in a blanket was a pure delight. We were offered the use of pushbikes which were great fun (it had been a while since I was on one!) Even though we booked at the very last minute, we were welcomed half an hour later.

    Liz2019-08-27T00:00:00Z

  • Delia's place feels instantly like home. It's really cozy, feels quality and looks stylish. The bed was really comfortable and in the room there was coffee, tea and some small treats waiting. Delia herself was really communicative, had some suggestions ready what to do in some spare hours before my meeting. She also offers a breakfast which was delicious. Thank you again and I would recommend anytime to anyone. Take a chance and experience some true Irish hospitality :)

There were little snacks in the room as well as a selection of teas (black and herbal) and a jug of water, which I really appreciated. The breakfast was tasty and healthy. I am already looking forward to returning to Delia's the next time work brings me to Virginia.

    Sorin2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The house was amazing and was more than what we expected. The scenery was very beautiful, the inside was very cozy and very clean. Margaret checked in on us to make sure we were ok, which I thought was really sweet. Gary and Margaret also made sure the fireplace was lit before we arrived which was so thoughtful. Although it was self-catering, there were ingredients to make breakfast and snacks which were really appreciated. The local town was accessible (only a 15-20 minute drive). Gary and Margaret were so nice and such amazing hosts and I will highly recommend this place to everyone. We will definitely be visiting again sometime in the near future.

    Stephanie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z

Loughcrew Cairns is just a ten minute walk from the cottage and is a wonderful site to explore and a great place to relax. Coffee shop, heritage museum and playground next door. 4 mile from the town of Oldcastle which has lots of restaurants and pubs.
  • It was a really nice place to spend the night.

  • Nothing short of magical. Sarah and Niall do an amazing job at creating an atmosphere that perfectly suits the energy of Loughcrew Cairns. Highly recommended.

  • Five minute walk the the bottom of the Loughcrew hill. Just follow the megalith signs to get there. Very typical hostel accommodations at a good price. Decent beds and a fairly well equipped kitchen.

  • Loughcrew was a lovely spot to find on our family trip. Very child friendly in a beautiful remote location. Stayed for longer than expected as its a great base for exploring the many nearby historical locations in the boyne valley. Thanks for a great stay Niall, Sarah and Fechin.

  • Nial is a great host. The hostel is very nice and location in the middle of the neolithic landscape just perfect. Recommended!

  • Niall and Fechin are wonderful hosts. I loved staying here. They go above and beyond for their guests, the food and coffee were amazing- probably the best cappuccino and rashers I've ever had. The hostel is so clean and cosy with a lovely sitting room and huge kitchen with all the cooking supplies you would need. I really liked how attentive they are to their guests and seemed to know everyone by their name. If you're looking for an affordable and quiet getaway from the city, I highly recommend the Megalithic Centre. Thank you Niall & Fechin!

  • My arrival to Loughcrew was to be late. Niall and Fechin were wonderful to have met me with the key in the evening hours. The area is lovely and the accommodation was a great place to rest after a long day's journey.

  • Sheena's cottage was a lovely space for us to relax on our own with the escalating health crisis when we were in the area for a friend's wedding. We had heard of people getting their reservations and hotels cancelled, but Sheena kept the reservation and maintained her distance as a precaution. She had such nice touches like giving us essentials like milk, tea, butter, bread, biscuits, orange juice. We did have a toddler with us, so we couldn't take advantage of the lovely wood stove, and generally had to block it with a chair so he didn't play with it or bump it.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was clean also, with a wet-room styled shower which was super convenient. Would certainly stay with Rose again and would recommend her to all. Thanks again. Mervyn

She went far out of her way to help this traveler have an enjoyable stay. I definitely would stay there again if I am ever back this way.

This quaint country farmhouse situated at the foot of Sliabh na Callaigh (The Witches mountain), 3 miles from the beautiful market town of Oldcastle Meath. The house was built in the 1930’s, and stands in the shadow of the world renowned Loughcrew carins.
The house was built in the 1930’s, and stands in the shadow of the world renowned Loughcrew carins. This collection of stone age passage tombs were built between 3500 and 3300 BC (approx.. 1,000 years before the Great Pyramid of Giza), and are one of the most significant stone age sites in Europe, part of a connection of stone age passage tombs that includes the Bru na Boinne tombs of Knowth, Dowth, and Newgrange (which were named UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1993). On the morning of the Spring Equinox each year the first rays of morning sunlight travel up along the winding passage to the end of the tomb to illuminate the chamber within – an event occurring just on that day each year. The area was a significant site throughout early Irish history, owing to its height above the surrounding land. It is the highest point in the surrounding 3 counties (on a clear day 7 counties are reputedly visible from its peak ). There are also bronze age ring forts in the area, one of which is visible in the neighbouring field from the kitchen window. Oldcastle is just 50 miles from Dublin, and 20 miles from the market town of Mullingar. It has a quiet town centre with some nice pubs, and yearly hosts the Le Cheile Arts and Music festival on the 1st weekend of August each year (URL HIDDEN) The nearby town of Virginia (a ‘plantation town’ called after Elizabeth I of England), is home to the Ramour theatre, which hosts work from Irish and International playwrites, along with music and vintage cinema (URL HIDDEN) Also on its doorstep are numerous limestone lakes, remnant of the glacial erosion caused by the second ice age, which provide a beautiful backdrop for life in this enchanting rural environment. The house gives a flavour of authentic traditional Irish country life, and until 1995 was a functioning farm.
  • Rose’s house was lovely and she was so kind and helpful

    Imogen2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Rose's house is wonderful - a real authentic Irish rural house - complete with wooden floors, views of the cairns on the hills, cows, apple trees and her lovely little dog, Holly. The beds were very comfortable. I have a bad back and rarely find comfortable beds when I travel, so this was a very pleasant discovery. Rose provided breakfast which included soda bread and we were welcomed with hot drinks and fruit cake. It all added to the sense of welcome. Rose is very easy to get on with and I enjoyed our conversations. I was researching the cairns for university, and Rose was able to provide local advice which really helped in that research. She's a great source of local knowledge and very helpful. As for Loughcrew's cairns, they are so close to the house that you can walk to them across the fields, though make sure you're wearing hiking boots. Don't miss the standing stones and Bronze Age ringfort on Patrickstown which is reached simply by going to the end of her road and up the hill. Make sure you climb to the largest standing stone. The views from the top are simply amazing on a good day. I will definitely be back!

  • Absolutely outstanding hospitality from James at his beautiful home. Well located. Clean. Bed was the comfiest we have ever slept on in an air bnb. Breakfast was top notch, amazing cooked fry with toast and freshly brewed tea and coffee. A 5 star experience. Jim was so accommodating letting us check in and out when suited us. He even dropped my partner to collect our car at the wedding venue clonabreany house where we had attended a wedding the day before. If you’re considering visiting the area or attending a wedding at clonabreany book Jim’s place. We will definitely be back if we are visiting the area again. Amazing value for money and just the loveliest most decent host. Thanks for everything Jim!

We had some trouble finding the place before because we put it wrong in maps but he was totally helpful and waited for us on the street even though it was late at night. We just stayed over night as a transit stop to the airport. I am sure there is a lot to explore in the area. All in all: very nice people, very nice place, we would definitely stay there again

  • The stay at Breffni house was the dream AirBnB experience. From checking in with Norbert, who was warm, friendly and helpful, through to the spacious, comfortable apartment. Norbert went above and beyond in providing some home comforts, as well as being on hand throughout the stay for any help or advice. The location is perfect for the local history in the Boyne Valley, as well as being close to a lot of the best lakes in the Cavan area. If you’re into fishing, the large living space would be perfect to store your rods while making a tasty Irish breakfast! With secure car parking thanks to the electronic gates and CCTV monitoring, you can’t get a better experience in Cavan, let alone Virginia by staying here!

    Simone2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three amazing days in Norbert's accommodation. It is very clean and everything looked new! We felt like we visited our family house because host, Norbert was very welcoming. The location is very good to visit Irish ancient heritage such as Loughcrew. We highly recommend this place! :)

Cant fault the place. Would definitely go back.

  • Orna provided us one of the best experiences that we have ever had through airbnb! We went to Cavan for a wedding at Crover House Hotel and it was a minute’s drive from the cottage to the wedding venue. The location was perfect for us! We loved the cottage and could not believe that when we arrived, Orna had stocked the fridge with eggs, milk, butter, and jam as well as bread, cereal, and a few other basic food essentials. Orna’s thoughtful touches around the house really helped us feel at home. We wish that we could have stayed for longer! We had a wonderful stay at her place, we highly recommend it!

  • Mickey was so accommodating and hospital! We arrived for a wedding and he was so helpful offering to drive us to the festivities on more than one occasion as we did not have a rental car. The home was spacious and welcoming and we would definitely stay again.

    Rosalba2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Mickey was very helpful, accommodating and welcoming. Mickey's home is cosy and comfy. Everything we needed was provided for us. This visit was to meet up with extended family over Christmas, so we were using Mickey's home as sleeping mainly. There was interesting material on history and archaeology of the area, which we intend to investigate on our next visit.

    Caitriona2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Mickey waited for us well into the night, the house was warm and well conditioned. It is as it is, even better, as shown in the photos. A recommended place to stay on a visit to Ireland and especially with children, as it has animals. It had everything necessary to make a very comfortable stay (oven, fires, microwave, washing machine, dryer, sandwich maker, toaster, hair dryer, tv ...). Very thankful

  • Mickey’s place and his hospitality were exceptional. There were so many thoughtful touches from fresh food in the refrigerator, toys for the kids, firewood for the wood stove, to plush towels and taking the kids on a tour of the farm. The surrounding countryside was stunningly beautiful. We highly recommend Mickeys place.

  • A straightforward man. A man with an open heart, a warm welcoming host. He has a way of being helpful but not intrusive .... a great way of interacting with people when they want it. He can go out of his way to help out .... even beyond the expected norm. A good home with all you need to help you be comfortable. We loved the facility of an open fire , where we were able to light up any time and relax in front of it. Interesting places nearby and a convenient point to travel elsewhere. A nearby lake and pier, bikes to ride, quiet , peaceful countryside. we loved it. Julio, Nuala and 3 boys 14, 12, 11

  • Shelia is a Superhost for a reason. As other reviewers have commented, the cottages are well appointed, equipped and homey. We were there for a wedding in Loughcrew, but used the cottage as our homebase to visit many historic and amazing sites in Ireland. We found Sheila to be genuinely thoughtful and helpful. The cottage itself is quaint with beautiful views and easy access to Oldcastle, Loughcrew and much more.

  • Sheila and the Millbrook cottages are fantastic for any length of stay in Oldcastle. The cottage itself is great and within reach of the nearby town. Sheila was great to detail some local history and was very easy to reach upon check in. Thanks again!

  • A beautiful quiet place with a nice Backyard. Sheila is a really kind and helpful host. She was always ready to help when we had any questions. She even prepared some Snacks for the arrival day.

  • We had a lovely time in Ireland and would like to come back one day for more exploring. A super clean airbnb place with all the things you need for a short or long break away. Ann is a terrific host.

    Rob2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ann’s place was warm and welcoming! We came a little weary from traveling and we are leaving her home refreshed. We arrived to a fresh baked tart, a warm stove and fresh flowers in every room. The home is lovely in every way, as is Ann. We were concerned this may be a little far from sights to see but experienced treasures of things to do near by... the only down side was leaving;-) we even added an extra night and will always consider Ann’s home a must visit for any future visits. Mahalo Ann!

    Naomi2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Ann’s bungalow with our 1 year old son. Ann was warm and friendly and made our stay really special with toys for our little boy and delicious home made treats. The garden was beautiful and the bungalow was clean and cheerful with everything we needed. A peaceful location with a short drive into the nearest village. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Fantastic place. We attended a wedding at clonabreany house. This was the perfect place to stay, close to the venue. We really appreciated the information provided on the venue and the lift back to get our cars! The upgrade to the cabins was brilliant. Customer service was second to none. Love the welcoming feel and especially had fun with Ruby the family dog. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had ... like ever!

  • Ann and Collin were wonderfully accommodating hosts and it was a pleasure to meet them. We had a nice chat and they're great people to talk to. Their home is warm and spacious with everything you could need. We were there for a wedding and getting ready and to the venue was a breeze thanks to them dropping us off. The area is very pretty with scenic walking routes around. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

  • We had a great stay at Ann’s. Although we only booked two hours before arriving, all was okay. Upon arrival there was tea for us. Amazing house in a quiet place. The room was clean and beautiful with a bathroom en-suite. In the morning the breakfast was good and we watched the rugby World Cup together with Ann’s husband Collin (which we really appreciated). We would really recommend this Airbnb with these amazing hosts being very friendly and hospitable.

  • Ann was the perfect host! Everything we needed was there! Breakfast was just perfect & it's amazing value too! Definitely recommend!

    Claire2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Ann and her husband were fantastic welcoming hosts. They sent us all the relevant information we needed when travelling to their home and upon arrival we were greeted with tea and biscuits and Ann shared some information on local restaurants and landmarks for us to consider visiting. The home was beautiful and spacious and there is a separate living room should you wish to use it. The bedroom was bright and clean with a shower room and toilet attached. The bed was incredibly comfortable and Ann was very accommodating when we asked for an iron. You will need a car or be willing to pay for taxis when staying here as it is quite rural but for us that was an attractive factor. Despite this, Ann was also incredibly helpful and transported us to pick up our car (from the wedding venue) on 2 occasions. We would definitely recommend staying here and would 100% visit again.

    Ed2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ann and her husbands were really fantastic hosts. We had slightly under estimated the distance to a wedding we were attending but they very kindly ferried us there, even driving us into town on Friday night so we could get some dinner! Was very much appreciated. Really lovely couple, made us feel very welcome. Really beautiful location too. Would definitely come back. Thanks!

Fennor Lodge is a perfect location from which to enjoy the wonderful treasures of the Boyne Valley. Fennor Lodge is situated in a prime location to accommodate guests that are travelling to weddings in Clonabreany House Hotel, The Virginia Park Lodge and The Headfort Arms Hotel. Oldcastle is a centre for anglers & is ideally located four miles (6.4 km) from Lough Ramor (County Cavan), a lake that is noted for its coarse fishing. Oldcastle is also ideally located six miles (10 km) from Lough Sheelin (County Cavan) which is noted for its trout fishing. Oldcastle is in the heart of Hunting country touching on no less than 5 different packs including; The Ballymacad Foxhounds, The Meath Hunt, The Tara Harriers, The Westmeath Foxhounds and The Ward Unions. There are also many hiking and walking trails including the walk up to the Loughcrew Megalithic site, the Loughcrew Gardens, Mullaghmeen Forest Walk, Tullynally Castle and the Seven Wonders of Fore located just a short distance away.
  • Where do I start? Sinead, was fantastic from the moment I started the booking process. She accommodated an early check-in as well as offering to take us to the wedding venue! Myself and my friend were attending the nearby Clonabreany House for a wedding (about 7 mins drive away) and we wanted to look for an option with better value for money than the high hotel rates. We found Fennor Lodge on AirBnB and we are so glad we did. From when we arrived Sinead welcomed us with open arms into her massive and beautiful country house! The bedrooms were stunning with a proper country house feel but absolutely spotless and the bed/bedding was amazing. We had sore heads on us the following morning and Sinead came up with the cure and cooked us a fry that did the absolute job. To top it all off my wife and young son collected me the next day and we had a cup of tea in the house and then Sinead took my son and myself to see the 3 fine horses (Frank, Gavin & Ace). I couldn't recommend Fennor Lodge more! Thanks Sinead :)

  • As first guests for this charming accomodation, we can nothing but highly recommend staying there. Unfortunately we could only spend one night, but would have stayed longer if we did not have to move on. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are spacious. One of the rooms has a private bathroom and toilet. Sinead provided us with all kinds of breakfast items which we could prepare ourselves in her lovely kitchen. There are many pubs in the town of Oldcastle you can choose for your dinner and drinks. Sinead gave us good tips, we especially enjoyed the OWEN TRAYNOR and the OLDCASTLE HOUSE HOTEL.

  • My boyfriend and I had a very comfortable stay at Jill's house while attending a friends wedding at Loughcrew estate. This is such a gorgeous gem of a house, beautifully styled and in such a gorgeous peaceful setting. We had a delicious breakfast of lovely homemade treats. It was so interesting to meet Jill and hear all about her travels and the restoration of her beautiful house. Wished we could have stayed longer.

    Ruth2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely peaceful and relaxing. Beautiful setting great location to sacred sites. Jill’s knowledge of the area and guidance is wonderful. She makes the best bread and tea I have ever had. All is Fred and organic, even her fresh jam she prepares from fruit in her garden. A real story book setting.

    Erin2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jill’s place was amazing. The house was beautiful and the area it’s in was our favorite place in Ireland. She gave us lots of local tips that transformed what was initially a night to just stay over on the way to Dublin to our favorite part of our trip! We will be back!

    Maria2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived late at night, after we got lost on our way. Jill was waiting for us and was super nice. The house is authentic country house both on the outside and the inside. Very beatifull and original intirier. I wish we could stay longer than just one night. The breakfast was all hand made and organic and very good, with fresh flowers from Jill's garden. The best thing about the house is no doubt Jill herself, she is such a nice and interesting person to talk to.

    Luba2019-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful place to stay for an unforgettable experience that everyone traveling to Ireland should experience. Stay here for a few nights instead of Dublin. Wonderful sights to see around the area. Jill was wonderful, i felt like it was my home as she made sure to make me feel that way. You will love it here!

    Sergio2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet and peaceful location and lovely views and a fabulous old style house. Jill is very friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was comfortable and we had a four poster bed. Jill is very helpful. There is a nice walk down the lane and her two friendly dogs joined us for the walk.

But what made the stay absolutely outstanding was Josie herself. She provided the most delicious Irish breakfast, offered us shuttle services, was such a pleasure to talk to and such a kind and friendly person. She offered greatest hospitality. We will definitely try to come back.

Room at a charming Irish cottage in the foothills of Loughcrew. Wake up in the morning and climb to the top of the highest point in the Boyne Valley. Here you can see 18 counties and watch the sunrise over the cairns.
  • We were very cozy in this cottage so close to the cairns! A sweet place to stay a nice cafe next door, and wonderful local tips made our visit to Loughcrew very magical. Plays a very comfortable bed. Thank you!!

    Marion2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely hostel in the beautiful Meath countryside, and our host, Fechin, was brilliant. So impressed with the Boyne valley. We were made feel very welcome - our 3 year old loved it! - and the room was perfect. We went to a wedding in nearby Loughcrew House, also stunning, and the location was perfect for that. I recommend, if you have kids, to pick up a book in the cafe next door ('Conan and the Mystical, Mythical Light of Loughcrew') its great fun and a nice story of the history of the area for children. We'll be back to do some walking and visiting. Thanks!

  • So where to start? Delia just wow'ed me with her kindness and attention to every detail that could make my stay better. Great place, great location (the bus is literally 5 minutes away walking, as are Virginia pubs, takeaways, convenience stores), supermarket is barely 5 minutes further down the road, and again an amazing host. Would rate my stay 5/10 if I could!

  • Delia went above and beyond to make me comfortable during my stay, even leaving me to the wedding venue and providing taxi numbers to get back that evening. Nothing was too much trouble and she provided a lovely breakfast next morning. The facilities were spotless and the location was just 5 minutes from Virginia Park Lodge in a quiet area, I had such a good nights sleep! Highly recommend this B and B and will definitely return if down this way in the future! :)

  • Laurel Cottage surpassed our expectations. From the welcome, the accomodation, useful information and to all that Delia did for us during our stay. We couldn't have asked for more. Thanks Delia.

  • We LOVED our stay here and that is mainly due to the delightful personality and hospitality of Delia. She went out of her way to make our stay really special. The property is incredibly clean with lots of added touches like a healthy breakfast in the morning, tips about the area, towels and toiletries. Delia was great company in the house and even kindly collected us from the bus stop! We couldn’t have asked for more!

  • Had an amazing time staying in Delia's beautiful home , she's a really caring and kind woman and it shows through how welcoming and lovely she was to me on arrival. Absolutely gorgeous breakfast in the morning and made me feel right at home. I will not be staying with anyone else the next time I'm down in Virginia. Would recommend 100%

  • It was the perfect country setting. There was so much history and Jill was so helpful in guiding me to the local heritage sites. She also has a big heart with great energy. The place has a unique style and was also very comfortable. The area was picturesque. I hope to stay here again on my next trip to Ireland!

  • To stay here was to be met with a wonderful welcome of kindness, generosity, information and absorbing chat about life - while relishing relaxed privacy in a house and location more beautiful and creatively inhabited than can be described! We spent last two nights of our Ireland visit here and it was in a relaxing, beautiful atmosphere, exquisite surroundings, warmth and fun - and with home-made scones, bread and jams out of this world. Thank you!

  • Sarah was an amazing host from the off. An absolute lady with a wealth of life experiences and all the charm in the world when conveying them. Captivating. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home and enthralling personality with us.

  • Sara has been the most outstanding host during our stay at her beautiful house. She greeted us on arrival with tea and biscuits and had a lovely time chatting away before she drove us to a local venue where we were meeting friends. We were upgraded to a large, clean en suite bedroom and were offered bread and cereal for breakfast which we weren’t expecting. Again the following day Sara drove us to the wedding venue we were attending. She certainly went above and beyond to host us and was fabulous company while we sat for breakfast. A truly beautiful house, fantastic host and fabulous cosy stay.

  • This is a lovely place to stay in Virginia. There is plenty of parking & it’s easily accessible into the town on foot. Sara is a wonderfully welcoming, kind & friendly host. Her house is beautiful, clean & tidy & the bedroom we had was comfortable & quiet. Breakfast was super - cereal, bread, jams, juice, fruit & plenty of tea! Sara gave us good recommendations for both lunch & supper & also woodland walks around Virginia. Communication prior to & during our visit was clear & speedy. We will certainly stay here again. Thankyou Sara

  • Sara was an incredible host! From her hug when we first arrived to her hug when we left, it was an evening of comfort and coziness and a morning of friendliness and joy. We had a wonderful time. We arrived in a whirlwind, late to a wedding and she was an incredible help. She had everything set up and she offered us a lift. We really enjoyed visiting with her in the morning as well; she took the time and added such beautiful touches to an already incredibly hospitable stay. It was a very enjoyable 15 hours and a place we would absolutely recommend to anyone!

  • What a beautiful home. Jill, it was amazing. You need to add about the FAB home made bread and jams for breakfast. I could have sat in sitting room and kitchen for days!

  • Crossdrum Lodge has bags of character and is nestled among beautiful countryside. Jill is an extremely warm and welcoming host and makes you feel completely at home. The Lodge is cosy and charming with a relaxed atmosphere. I left Crossdrum bearing apples from one of the most beautiful apple trees I have ever seen, bundles of organic kale from Jill’s vegetable patch and bottles filled with water from Jill’s well. Thank you Jill for a very pleasant stay and I look forward to staying at Crossdrum in the future.

  • Jill was a lovely host and made sure I had everything I needed. She cooked me eggs and helped with laundry. There is much to see in this area (don't miss Loughcrew Cairns) and you're only an hour away from Dublin.
