“Kentucky is known for its blue grass and banjos, you can find the best and most historic of the Bluegrass genre located right here in the heart of Owensboro. Take the opportunity to take lessons on the violin and the banjo or just enjoy a cold beverage while you're here!”

“The Western Kentucky Botanical Garden at 25 Carter Road in Owensboro contains several themed gardens including a large collection of daylilies with an American Hemerocallis Society recognized display garden. The last week in June is the time for the Dazzling Daylily Festival. Other gardens include a large herb garden, a rose garden, an English cottage garden, a Kentucky symbol quilt garden, a Japanese memorial garden, an ericaceous garden, the Moonlite Children’s garden, the University of Kentucky Extension display garden. Buildings in The Garden include a house donated and moved to The Garden and used for administration offices and gatherings, a large gazebo, an educational classroom building with attached conservatory, an English Cottage, a Country Doctors office built in 1890 that will be developed into a museum showing medicine practiced in 1900, a Children’s Playhouse available for birthdays and special parties, and an antique ticket booth built in 1890. There are also several nice pieces of public art in The Garden. A major feature of The Garden is the various collections of beautiful plants with something to be enjoyed all year around. Winter Hours of Operation Monday thru Friday 9AM - 3PM; closed Saturday & Sunday Garden Admission Members are always FREE Adults: $5, Seniors: $3 Students & Youths: $1”

“Famous Bistro is one of Owensboro's true culinary gems. Chef Jared Bradley and his crew serve up some true culinary masterpieces! When your driving through downtown Owensboro, don't blink or you might miss it! It's fine dining in a laid back and cozy setting. Favorite things on the menu? Well all of it!? But if we have to name a few, here are some of my favs: Appetizers: Spanikopita bites and the mussels are always amazing! The Scallops are better then anywhere I have eaten in my life- and I grew up on the East Coast! Dinner Splurge: Would easily be the Steak Tenderloin topped with bourbon glaze and brussel sprouts and massed potatoes on the side. It's unreal. Trattoria pasta and I add shrimp. It's got a good spice to eat and there is more then enough for leftovers the next day. On a Budget: The Mac n Cheese pizza.....it's amazing. Eat it! The Greek Pizza is one of my sons favorites as well. Dessert: They have my favorite chocolate cake ever and a dessert I have no idea how to spell but sounds like EPMAC. It's a fluffy wonderful creation and I never had anything like it before. My best friend is OBSESSED with the cheesecake - I am too when the chocolate cake is unavailable. Long and short it's all good! Drinks: They have a GREAT beer selection there. And if Christina the manager is there you might be able to talk her into making a drink named after yours truly- a "Rosey" It's got mint, fresh strawberry lemonade, vodka and few other things! ”
