Places to stay in Pantperthog
Come and visit our beautiful, restored wagon, high on a peaceful, off-grid hill. For walkers or cyclists, romantic breaks or retreats in nature; this is perfect for adventures or simply relaxing on the deck with a cup of tea heated by hydro power. Cosy all year round with wood burning stove and kitchenette, it has all you need for a relaxing stay. Holistic massage is available in the farmhouse for that added touch of luxury and relaxation, if the peace, quiet and the birdsong is not enough!
Getting away from it all is easier than you may think, in this surprising little carriage perched on a secluded hill. It is a unique space in many ways, but I can describe to you some of our favourites! The carriage is on the land of a working smallholding and community. The farmhouse has several people living and sharing the garden, and we are completely off-grid, with our own fresh water supply, and self-contained small hydro system with solar backup to provide all our electricity. The carriage itself is made from a guards wagon. Before braking could be done remotely from the engine, a guard traveled in this wagon, and would have had to manually brake all of the carriages when necessary. When technology advanced, these wagons were sold off to farmers by the railways, as well-built sheds and cabins. This one was winched to the top of our hill and renovated, and we are very excited to be sharing it! Ideal for retreats, romantic breaks, or for a base on a walking or cycling trip, the carriage is close enough to civilization to be convenient (the market town of Machynlleth is a 15 minute drive away) but also remote enough to really, truly relax. I also have a treatment room in the house, so if you would like to book in for a Holistic Massage as part of your holiday, just let me know and I'll be very happy to see you. The farmhouse who's land the carriage is on, is the only dwelling on this side of the mountain, so if peace is what you are looking for then you have come to the right place. However civilization is close at hand! The charming market town of Machynlleth is a 15 minute drive away, and has a vibrant community and enough shops to get you everything you need. There are plenty of popular attractions, for example the Centre for Alternative Technology for those interested in treading more lightly, the Dyfi bike park for downhill enthusiasts is right next door, or the Dyfi Osprey Project, a breeding site for ospreys. We are nestled in the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park, so there is plenty of exploring for walkers and cyclists to do- Cadair Idris is one of my favourite mountains and it's only 15 minutes away... We are 1.5 miles from the A487 near Machynlleth, up a forestry track- fairly well maintained but with a smattering of potholes, for the rally driver in us all. Full, easy directions will be sent upon booking! There is space to park, with a short walk (1 minute) up a fairly steep hill with steps, so please consider if you can manage this before booking! I lived up here without a car for 10 years, and it is certainly possible to manage. Trains come regularly to Machynlleth from the Shrewsbury / Birmingham direction, and from Machynlleth there is a good bus service coming to Pantperthog. It is a 25 minute walk (again, uphill!) to get to the carriage from the bus stop. Of course there is always the taxi- from Machynlleth it costs £10. I can provide their details upon booking. We live off-grid! We think this is pretty amazing, and love being self-sufficient in power and water. But it does mean that sometimes, when it's been really dry for ages, or when things go a bit wrong, we may need to be careful with how much power we use. Occasionally it means the peace will be broken by a couple of hours of our noisy old diesel generator charging the batteries if there has been some problem, or us using the chainsaw for a while to cut our (and your!) firewood. It means we'll sometimes have to ask you to use the gas instead of the electric kettle, and to avoid using hairdryers or similar high power luxury items. Apart from these rare events it shouldn't create any inconveniences, just a warm fuzzy feeling that during your stay you are having barely any impact on your environment, and a great example of how the eco lifestyle can work! Good outdoor shoes or wellies, and slippers are also a good idea as I do provide some but your own may be preferable.
The farmhouse who's land the carriage is on, is the only dwelling on this side of the mountain, so if peace is what you are looking for then you have come to the right place. • Perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Meg and Ben were extremely helpful and both made us feel incredibly welcome. Will definitely be going back to stay again in the future

  • Absolutely beautiful place to stay if you're looking to get away from everything. Couldn't have asked for better hosts

  • I booked the Train Carriage on the Hill as a surprise for my boyfriend's 40th birthday. I think he was a little bit shocked when he realised there was a composting toilet and a separate shower and in fairness, Meg does advise against surprising anyone. But once he stepped inside the carriage he fell in love with the space, as did I. It's so much more spacious than the photos suggest and the bed is really comfy and cosy. It took a little while to master the log burner and get used to nipping outside to the loo, but we soon settled in. The view was stunning when there was a break in the clouds. And to top it off we saw 3 jets on the Mach Loop, which was why we came to this part of Wales. A truly memorable birthday.

  • A lovely view from the decking area which also contains a mini fire pit where wood is provided near the entrance to the farm house. The wood burning stove was great and the pillows provided were like resting your head on a cloud! The sink is located outside which can be quite chilly washing dishes and yourself if you dont have the weather :)

  • Prepare for the most wonderful night/s stay at the carriage! We stayed the night storm Ciara arrived and were well and truly snug, warm and safe. Perfect hosts and the perfect little get away. Definitely a place we want to return to.

  • A very special place up on the hills, with spectacular views to wake up to. We loved our beautifully decorated little home for the night. So cosy with the fire blazing, the fairy lights on and a glass of wine in hand! It was blowing a gale outside but it was quiet, comfy and toasty in the carriage. Pure peace and privacy, and a great place to reconnect with nature. We definitely hope to be back this year for longer.

Be under no illusion this is like camping under a wooden roof! Not glamping or an hotel. Boatel guests share the boat roofed shed with other guests and residents and no one has exclusivity on this structure. The boat is old and dusty with the occasional spider, an unusual and quirky experience!! The views are stunning. Sorry no dogs but there are two friendly dogs that live here. And cats and ex caged chickens.
Set in an acre of wild flowers and up a mountain in the beautiful Dyfi Valley Biosphere the Boatel is literally a bed in a boat! Not to mention a beautiful open plan cooking and living space – all in a shed AKA the Boat Roofed Shed. Recognised for its amazing and unique qualities, it even won the infamous Cuprinol’s Shed of the Year in 2013. It’s our absolute pride and joy and we love sharing it with our guests! We’ve hosted comedy festivals, exclusive concerts and curious tourists in our little mountain hideaway and Alex (aka DJ Badly) uses it to prepare his sets for festivals such as Glastonbury. We built the shed in 2012 using recycled materials and it was our first major project. Alex is normally a rubbish DIY person, so designing and building the whole thing ourselves was a great achievement and we couldn’t have been happier to win both the ‘Shed of the Year’ Unique Category and the Overall category in 2013. From the shed you can see across Cader Idris (part of the Cambrian Mountains of Snowdonia). It’s so beautiful even in the maddest of weathers, you can close the door, light the candles, pop some kindling in the wood burner and be snug and warm in moments. Our guests all love staying in the Boatel - they love the peace, the location, the structure, the ambience, and the curios (Alex is a big collector and has been on Antiques Roadshow with his Poole Pottery collection!). As well as the relentless throwing of Frisbees for the dogs! We supply all bedding but do not supply towels or breakfast.
We live in the dyfi valley biosphere and we are very committed environmentalists. There are a lot of fantastic Visitor attractions in the area, particularly the Centre of Alternative Technology, Talyllyn Railways and of course Cader Idris – which is part of the Cambrian Mountains of Snowdonia which can be seen from the boat roofed shed!
  • Our second time visiting the Boatel was as lovely as ever, despite the cold and windy weather we were always warm and comfortable. Alex is always easy to get in contract with and happy to help with anything. The space is decorate with all kinds of exciting trinkets and kept warm with the fire and a fantastic sound system. I would always come back here and recommend to anyone.

  • Well where do I start. Just returned from a wonderful night spent in the boatel and im missing it already! From start to finish it could not have been better and totally exceeded our expectations. The location is quite literally breathtaking the drive up the montain towards the boat was something very special. We were greeted by 2 of the friendliest dogs I've ever met the lovely Florence and rex and Alex himself who showed us around his incredible space and joined us for a glass of red and a chat in the shed before leaving us to settle in. Truly top bloke and a pleasure to have met! The amenities are fantastic and much beyond what we expected. My partner was able to cook a full curry using the gas stove in the shed and everything we needed was provided plenty of pots pans utensils etc. I was slightly concerned we were going to be cold but the shed is so toasty with the log burner lit which Alex got started for us an arrival. We had a fantastic night drinking far to much wine, eating cheese and loved being able to plug our phones into the sound system in the shed. Listening to Simon and garfunkle by candlelight late into the night in these surroundings was really quite something and retiring to the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in topped the evening off. Alex has an electric heater and even provides a hot water bottle in the boat so we were very warm indeed. Waking up to the views in the morning when we opened the boat doors was outstanding. We enjoyed a full English with the chickens before we left! And Alex showed us around the land and let us know some exciting things he has in store before waving us off on our journey home 🙂 A trip that we will never forget and we can't wait to come back. Alex, thankyou from both of us for letting us share your incredible space and it was truly a pleasure to meet you! Until we meet again!

The cross-Wales Glyndwr’s Way passes close by, and there is easy access to mountain biking trails, hill walking, kayaking, bird watching, climbing, surfing, and popular visitor attractions such as C.A.T. (the Centre for Alternative Technology).
  • Lovely well equipped place, with beautiful surroundings. One thing to note is that the field although fenced around the majority of the field- is not fully secure, so our escapee rescue dog managed to get out! So the last day or so we had to keep her on the long line unfortunately :( All in all great, with a river next to the field and local walks recommended in the welcome pack.

  • The perfect setting to escape the stresses of modern life and appreciate nature in a low impact way. The hut is super cosy with the log burner going, the bed is very comfortable and the hut is decorated tastefully and quirkily. Perfect for dogs with an enclosed field of its own and beautiful views up and down the valley. The composting toilet is clean, hygienic and easy to use for those who might be a bit squeamish!

  • Thank you to Paul, Suzanne and Irene for a needed relaxing stay at their incredible hut. The place has everything you need and more. Gets so warm and cozy at night with the fire lit. Would love to return in the summer.

  • A delightful place to stay. Calm and restful. Our hosts were thoughtful and have made a wonderful shepherds hut with fabulous eco credentials.

    Sarah2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing!! What an amazing few days! The host was fantastic! There are so many things that just made our holiday, and great memories! Past few days have been the warmest I've ever been, which was something we were worried about! The hut is equipped with everything you'll need. Tea, great coffee, every kitchen utensil and pan, and the way the hut is built and designed is incredible, it's like something off the documentary tiny house on Netflix. Makes us consider living small! Amazing views and surroundings. Loved the folder of info. Will return soon!

    Meg2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly idyllic. For those that are used to a compost toilet believe me when I say that this one is a nice one! The shower was wonderfully hot. The wood burner inside has a very handy little oven alongside which we made full use of. The field is perfect for dog owners, the bed and bedding was gorgeous and cosy and there is a little welcome folder with tips and walks etc. Loved this place!

  • Amazing place to stay, fantastic views and beautiful gardens! Great for a big group as we could all be together but could slope of if we needed the space away! Will 100% be recommending this place again! So glad i found it :) Thankyou Daniel for your help and support whilst planning the trip!

    Simone2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • A group of us stayed here on a work weekend away! And we were not disappointed. It was absolutely beautiful and everything was just as described and much much more!! We are definitely planning on coming back next year as it’s such good value for money and overall was an amazing stay!! Thank you for having us 😀

    Georgia2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to stay, our family loved every moment and we would definitely visit again.

    Nadia2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Second time we've visited, just as great as the first. Brilliant leave for large groups. Thanks!

    Alexander2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding in every way. We booked the cottages for 3 days for our wedding.Cottages are well equipped, very clean and hot water is ample. The grounds to the cottages are well maintained with breath taking views.I truly believe the accommodation and grounds played a major part of making my wedding perfect. I highly recommend for weddings and plan to revisit with the same group of friends and family for a anniversary holiday.... simply perfect!!!!.....

    David2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottages, ideal for any large gathering. The outside space and views were outstanding. 10/10

    Claudia2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures definitely do not do these cottages justice so upon arrival we were plesently surprised. The cottages are beautiful and ideal for a large group - there was 20 of us and we fit into 4 of the cottages perfectly! Daniel was very accommodating and provided us with additional pull out beds as our party grew in size. There is a very relaxed feel, we were able to party but also enjoy the beautiful walked up behind the cottages and the view was enough to get rid of the hangover!! The gardens are beautiful unfortunately there was a storm when we were there, otherwise we would have got the BBQ out. Would be perfect for a large party looking to get away and enjoy each others company but it would also be great for families with children of all ages, the lawn is big enough for ball games and more! The Hall is perfect for group dining, with a large table that we easily got 18 round. If you are planning on cooking I would suggest bringing essential items like oil salt pepper and maybe large pans. I would also recommend bringing additional toilet roll, washing up liquid (although there is a dishwasher in the hall, not one in every cottage). Also bring tea bags coffee and milk. All in all it was an amazing break away and we are looking to book up again! Thanks Daniel!

    Hannah2019-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here as a stag group for 2 nights, the place was great for us as we could have some music on and have a bbq/fire pit etc and be left completely alone and not worry about disturbing the peace as there’s no one to disturb! The grounds are really well kept and it’s a great place to take yourself away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottages themselves are great, it’s not 5* but if your after pristine finishes and expensive suites, Wales is probably not for you! If your after a great experience and somewhere different I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

A lovely old renovated cottage with inglenook fireplace, wood burning stove and mezzanine. It is well equipped for your stay as I have tried to make it a home from home for you. There will always be some welcome goodies and you can sleep in snuggly beds made with 100% cotton or organic cotton sheets and feather and down duvets. The cottage is situated in the pretty wooded Dulas valley near the historic town of Machynlleth, close to Snowdonia and the sea.
The cottage is south facing and is full of light, even on dull days. We love books and plants so have filled the space with them for you to enjoy. There is a secluded and sheltered garden behind the cottage - a patio with garden furniture and a woodland walk leading to a summer house where you can do a spot of bird watching (binoculars provided) and in the colder months we put out bird feeders. There is a shed where you can keep your bikes if you bring them and a padlock is available if you need it. We hope that guests will be happy and contented in the cottage whatever the weather and season - you are very welcome here
Machynlleth has many independent shops and is a lovely place to spend your time. On Wednesdays there is an historic market on the main street where you can buy many local products. The Dyfi Valley is very special - mountains, the sea, fantastic walks and bike rides to discover. We've lived here for a long time so have lots of information about the area. Jean loves walking and there are maps and guide books in the cottage. The lovely resort of Aberdyfi is a short drive away as is the bird reserve at Ynys hir and the coastal reserve at Ynys las.
  • We booked this cottage for a relaxing break away from the city and could not have been happier with our stay in the stunning Welsh countryside. The cottage was beautiful, full of character and well equipped with everything we needed. Very sweet homely touches and Jean was a fantastic host. The area is perfect for walking straight from the door or a quick drive to the National Park. Can not wait to come back. I would highly recommend!

    Natalie2020-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, could be straight from a fairy tale. We really enjoyed the quiet nights next to the fire place and the cosy atmosphere. Hopefully we'll be able to come again in the future.

    Richard2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect weekend spent in the cottage. Jean had left a box of chocolates for arrival which was a nice touch, the place was clean and tidy. Much bigger than we expected and lots of character. We also found a book of local walks amongst the huge amount in the cottage and followed one of these for a nice trail run. Great weekend! Thanks!!

    Lewis2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing stay. From the moment we booked until the moment we left. The house is gorgeous, spacious and clean. Jean was the perfect host and was always at the end of the phone. I would highly recommend this hidden gem to everyone looking for a relaxing get away. Will definitely be returning

    Laura2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a semi-remote area. Ideal for chilling out in front of the wood burning stove in winter or a good base for exploring more of this beautiful part of Wales. Lots of books and magazines to read and a reasonably well equipped kitchen makes self catering an easy option.

    Howard2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous cottage just outside of Machynlleth. Jean was a fantastic host, really helpful and friendly and even left a little welcome pack with home made jam and chocolate. The cottage is peaceful and has a massive living space and two comfortable bedrooms, amazing value for money.

    Dan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Jean was absolutely perfect, despite going during Storm Dennis! We had everything we need to hunker down and be warm and snug . You are not far from Mach, so we could get anything we needed, and get back to our cute cottage all tucked away! There are many thoughtful touches, and it really felt special arriving and seeing how welcomed we were. Could not recommend enough! Thank you Jean for making our trip to Wales so special

Escape to the beautiful Dyfi Valley: walk & cycle in the mountains, relax on sandy beaches, enjoy a pint by the fire in the local pub or lunch in the village cafe. A traditional cottage looking onto river & mountains with all you need for a comfortable break.
The cottage is traditionally furnished with all you will need for a comfortable break including wood burning stove, TV and Freesat and a well equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are cosy and bright with amazing views over the mountains and down to the river. A second floor balcony provides a great viewpoint and an awning on the patio means the garden can be enjoyed in all weathers.
Corris is arguably the friendliest village in Wales and certainly one of the most beautiful. After holidaying here in the summer of 2015, just four months later we had left our lives in Essex to live here that's how much we love it! With stunning walking and cycling routes on your doorstep, the market towns of Machynlleth & Dolgellau nearby, a short drive to white sand beaches and the second most climbed mountain in Wales, Cadair Idris only minutes away, Corris is the perfect base for an adventure or a relaxing break in majestic scenery. There are also plenty of attractions including CAT (Centre for Alternative Technology), Corris Craft Centre, King Arthurs Labyrinth and the village even has its very own steam train!
  • Thank you for the amazing stay. The location of the property makes the difference. The beautiful valley, the river gushing past the back garden, the stone cottage with a cosy fire and all that is needed for the stay. Thank you for the walking guide books and the collection of classic dvds to watch cuddled in the lounge with a warm fire. Loved it.

  • A warm little house with amazing access to South Snowdonia in a lovely village. The place was clean and tidy and the host was very responsive and accommodating. Recommended.

    Aidan2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay in Corris. The house is full of character and is beautifully surrounded by forests and rivers. The rooms were comfortable and cosy. The Slaters Arms is a great grade 2 listed pub and highly recommend it for food and a great pint! The house and location is highly recommended.

  • Great place to access the Climax trail (mountain bike) or hiking. Bring food and supplies.

    Mirka2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We visited Corris during a very cold January spell for a family celebration. The cottage has a small footprint but three floors, with a double bedroom on the first floor and a twin room on the top floor. Ideal for us and two teenagers. It is very comfortable and cosy, in a lovely position backing on to the river. In warmer weather the outside space would also be nice. Good to have been supplied the basics such as tea, coffee etc....and a wood burner as the temperature fell below zero! We would definitely stay here again. Thanks.

  • Lovley place. Tiny and cosy. Beautiful surroundings.

    Ewa2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in a beautiful location in the Welsh mountain countryside. We were made to feel very welcome and Lauren's hospitality was outstanding. Lovely thoughtful touches throughout the cottage and clean, ready amenities. Thank you!

  • The perfect place for a short, cosy weekend away. Quick walk to the local pub, shop and craft centre (which we did find was closed in winter, like many of Wales’ attractions). Easy drive to local nature spots too - a very beautiful setting! The cottage itself was clean, cosy and just right for a weekend away. We enjoyed using the log burner in the evenings, and had everything we needed to cook basic meals. Thanks again!

  • Just like every time I stay there. Perfect location and the property feels really homely . The kitchen is my favourite part as it is rustic and Ann keeps it stocked with lots of whole food ingredients and it’s always a welcome sight after a days work or walk around.

Dovey Valley Cottage is a cosy holiday cottage nestled on the bank of the river Dulas near Machynlleth, and within easy reach of Aberdovey, Dolgellau, Barmouth, Tywyn, Aberystwyth, Ynys Hir and Cadar Idris. This self-catering holiday cottage is ideally located for the coast and beaches, golf courses, beautiful walks, the RSPB nature reserve and mountain biking at Machynlleth and Coed-y-Brenin.
My cottage is self catering the nearest shop is 2.5 miles away, a car is useful but there is a bus service at the end of the road and railway station 3 miles away. Restaurants and dining can be found in Machynlleth (3 miles) Aberdovey beach (9 miles) cycling is very popular here as a Sustrans route runs past the door and some of the best mountain biking is 1.5 miles. You’ll love my place because of the views, the cosiness, and the location. My place is good for couples and families with children, however please be aware that there is no barrier to the river at the bottom of the garden so do consider this before booking.
The cottage stands alone on an unlisted road (Sustrans No.8 goes past the door) The original part of the building (home of the owners) was used for housing slate workers in the mid 19th Century who worked up at the quarry which is now the Centre for Alternative Technology. The guests cottage was added in the late 1990's.
  • This is a lovely place in a stunning location. The log burner was wonderful to come home to, after spending the day walking in the beautiful countryside all around. Sylvia has some great walk books. The cottage is very well equipped. We would have loved to stay longer.

    Tudor2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house was really clean and tidy, and the location was stunning. We were greeted with some Welsh cakes on arrival and a basked of wood for the fire. Sylvia was helpful and only next door. Would definitely stay again!

  • Sylvia and Tony were kind and her scones and jam were a nice touch for a warm welcome to their cozy and lovely cottage. The location is outstanding. The sound of river Dovey was relaxing and soothing. The place is beautiful, clean and beautiful bedding. Welcome tea, coffee, milk were ready for us. There are many wonderful places around to visit. The scenery is magnificent. Just looking outside from a window on a rainy day was magical. We had a great weekend.

    Tamara2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely tranquil place. Weather was mixed so we saw the river flowing at various heights and never got tired of observing it. Sylvia is a great host. Expect a warm welcome and enjoy what the area has to offer.

Located in the stunning and remote 'Artists Valley' (with Beavers) this charming Self Contained Space is in a 75 acre conservation and permaculture site. With unparalleled views, an ideal base for walking, enjoying nature and rural family retreats.
This cosy Cottage is centrally heated with radiators which are on constantly (please let us know if you are too warm!), is well insulated and gets lovely and homely. There is also a heater in the bathroom :) Upstairs, there is a very large bedroom than can sleep up to 5 (very good!) friends or a young family but is better suited to couples. In the bedroom there is a hand basin with hot running water, a wardrobe and chest of drawers for you to use. The double bed has an electric blanket and there is a TV (which you can chose to completely ignore!) with freesat channels and a DVD player. Wifi is available in the beautiful Breakfast Room next door - and there is an (moody!) ethernet connection upstairs in the Cottage itself (please bring a laptop with an Ethernet port) but there is a good Wifi signal in both the Gazebo and the Breakfast room. Our connection here at the end of the Valley can on occasion, be temperamental - so just in case, best not to rely on it for life and death situations... but it is normally more than adequate to check emails, download films and make internet video calls. We hope that you will be so busy enjoying the stunning natural landscape that you may forget the internet - just for a moment xxx ;) There is no washing machine in the Cottage, but for those on longer stays (5 days or more), please ask at the main house, and we would be happy to help - £10 for a service wash and dry x The double bed is made up with fresh linens for each stay and extra blankets are supplied in abundance. Linens and towels will be changed once a week for folk on longer stays. If you require additional bedding, sheets and pillowcases etc (for larger groups using the extra sofa bed etc.), we are happy to do so (although they will most likely not match at all!) for a laundry fee of £6 per person. Although there is no open fire in Narnia itself, directly opposite the South facing door is a stunning octagonal glass Gazebo, with a comfy sofa and wood- burning stove - you would have sole use of the Gazebo when you book Narnia! 10 metres from your door, it is a gorgeous space to sit and read, do your emails, share bottle of wine, muse over a jigsaw, knit something or chat indoors.... but outdoors at the same time ;) ...................and it really does get toasty in there in winter with the fire going! - we can provide you with some nice dry wood - please ask for details. It is an amazing place to be in crazy weather! - right in the middle of it, yet warm and dry all at once :) Please note that although the Gazebo is lovely, it is an outdoor structure and the floor can get damp after heavy rain (but the sofa stays dry!) and although we do suck up spider webs regularly, there will always be a few :) The Gazebo is supplied with some dry firewood but we charge £10 per barrow load if you need more. In addition to exploring the whole Permaculture and Conservation site, you would also be able to make the most of our new 'Breakfast Room' - a 10 metre Conservatory with glass on 3 sides, tables and chairs to sit at and comfy sofas at the other end. This gorgeous space is for use by everyone at Blaeneinion and is perfect to relax in or check emails on wetter days - please see the photos :) There are lots of plants, a stereo system, some childrens toys (wooden train set has been a big hit!) jigsaws, a piano and a growing and eclectic mixture of books to enjoy. It is a great spot to enjoy looking out at the stars in the evening or enjoying a glass of wine after a long days walking and exploring :) The breakfast room is super-hot on Summer days and comfortably warmed by even the merest sunshine even in Winter.... the stone wall internally retains heat like a big storage heater well into the evenings. Please ask if you would like eggs or fresh produce produced on site (chickens lay much less in Winter though x) For young families -please let us know if need to borrow our travel cot :) Please note that the £7 per night surcharge for extra guests also applies however small the people are, so BABIES AND TODDLERS ARE COUNTED AS AN EXTRA GUEST. Over the past few years we have found that families with young children tend to use more heating and hot water, need travel cots and often more cleaning x We love hosting children so have remarkable facilities for young families - toys, instruments and games, super gentle and friendly animals, a fire pit for toasting marshmallows, kayaks and food that can be foraged on site! ... to make all this possible and enable inspiring and memorable family holidays, all we ask is a small surcharge of £7 per night per person to cover costs. PLEASE ENTER 'INFANTS' as 'CHILDREN OVER 2' in the booking process to make sure it all goes through correctly (I am in an ongoing discussion with Airbnb about all this) It is uncomfortable for us and for you if I to have to ask guests for a surcharge for their little one after a booking request is made :0( Lets all continue making this place special for folk of all ages!
Our neighbourhood is very quiet, secluded and tranquil. The air is clean, you can see the stars and we never hear sirens!
  • If you havent booked already... do it now! It is the most amazingly peaceful, tranquil retreat! The grounds are just beautiful and there are many walks to be had straight from the cottage. There is no need to travel anywhere if you dont need to. Sharon and the team are an absolute delight and make you feel very welcome. Definitely recommend!

    Simone2020-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon's place is the perfect place to really get away from it all. OK, it does have an ethernet cable, but I found getting up early to go beaver watching far preferable to logging in to the computer. There are lovely walks right from the property (if you go to the lakes, follow the white ribbons) as well as a little further afield. The place is charming, so go (when the government allows you to) and re-charge your batteries. Enjoy :)

    Juliet2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, the hosts hospitality is brilliant with great communication and a lovely welcome guide with reccomendations of the local area. There are two towns in driving distance which arent very big, however if its a calm, idylic senic holiday you want then this place is great.

    Maisy2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing spot and lovely project, even in the driving wind and rain! No beavers sighted, interesting to learn more about them and see their work. Best of luck to Sharon and team for the year ahead, hopefully storms are behind us now...and this place is a perfect escape for 'social distancing' if that's what you're after!

    Charlotte2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Narnia . The cottage was lovely with the added bonus of the outside ‘ hut’ area with a couple of sofas a wood burner and star gazing galore! The grounds are wonderful and the animals Thank you Sharon

  • Fab, quirky cottage in great location

    Kate2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal location to get away from it all, so nice to go off grid and wander around the hills and woods (even in winter). Lovely food on site, but worth getting some basics first. You won't find many better hosts than Sharon !

    Peter2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for an experience that gives inspiration and hope. You need to visit .The Narnia cottage at Blaeneinion was a complete delight. The cottage itself is very cosy and feel so comfortable .The fact that it is set in a wonderful permaculture success story is as magical as Narnia. Sharon is a delightful funny and inspiring host who has created a wonderland . The bonus on top of it all was food foraged from a garden and eaten in February. I was amazed and delighted by it all.

In the heart of a former Welsh slating village, this beautiful boutique-style cottage is the ideal place to get away from it all. With walks, coast, steam railways and bike trails all to hand, there is something for everyone. Glanydon has two wood burning stoves, an amazing bathroom and a very well equipped kitchen. We can also provide baby equipment (speak to us for info) for those coming with a baby. The cottage is NOT SAFE for a baby who is mobile. Surcharge of £25 if you bring baby.
If you are coming for a special occasion we would be happy to make sure there are flowers/chocolates/bubbly etc etc in the cottage for your arrival, just speak to us re what you'd like.
There is a café/village store just a few metres from Glanydon cottage (Idris Stores) where you will get a great cuppa and more and a warm welcome. There is also a pub (The Slater's Arms) just a few metres on again which does pub grub and Sunday lunches. The views of the mountains are stunning!

  • We had a wonderful time at Ceri and Ken's home. It is the perfect base to explore the beautiful surronding area, or to just stay inside by the cosy fire! Corris is a very welcoming and characterful village and the local pub and Idris stores are great places to meet the locals. Ceri and Ken are both wonderful hosts with loads of personal touches. Really couldn't have asked for a better time and we can't wait to return!

  • My wife and I went to the lovely cottage of Ceri and Ken for a six day leave in Wales. Besides the easy and fast communication, the warm welcome, the very good hospitality and the increadible location, the cottage is perfectly equipped and very clean. It is also a little heaven to come home after a long walk in the beautifull surroundings... In short: this Airbnb is everything where it stands for on the site and even more!

Cosy double room in a quirky apartment with great views over both the town and the hills behind. Most likely you'll be sharing communal areas with myself and 2 daughters, to be clear this is our family home and it has relevant wear and tear and walls still to be painted etc. Not a holiday cottage but well equipped and brilliantly located close to public transport, shops and private parking. Shared garden also for your use. We have 3 black cats too.
Situated over three floors over an old bank the flat is quite an unusual space that we've made our home for 3 years now, still a work in progress but nearly there! Your double glazed room at the back of the house has stunning views orientated towards the sunset. From the kitchen diner you can enjoy a great vantage point over the town
Machynlleth is a safe and friendly town with easy access to trains to Birmingham and beyond and at the edge of Snowdonia, the Celtic rainforest and some stunning beaches. I think it's utopia but I might be biased.
  • I wasn't able to do much in Machynlleth because I accidentally visited at the same time as Storm Ciara but Claire's home was a lovely place to hide from the weather, cuddle a cat and cheekily sample some homemade baked treats. The location is perfect for exploring Machynlleth, visiting CAT and Snowdonia National Park so I hope to return soon with kinder weather.

    Sarah2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • All communications and directions with Claire prior to arrival were excellent. Her apartment is right in the very centre of Machynlleth, looking out from her first floor kitchen/diner window straight up the High Street, and from the guest room at the back (it's totally quiet at night) westwards to the hills in the distance. She and her young children are delightfully sociable, whilst respectful of privacy. Harry, suave, jet black and with bewitching emerald eyes, might pay you a furry-purry visit if he thinks you like him. The house is cheerful and convivial, guest accommodation calm, warm and unfussy.

Double room, with comfortable bed in shared house in mid Wales, offering peace and quiet in a beautiful rural village location. Great for stop overs, walking/hiking/mountain biking and within a few miles of beautiful coastline and beaches. Check in times are generally limited to the evenings as I'm at work during the day, but I could be flexible especially at weekends.
A very quiet and peaceful spot - you might be able to hear the owls at night, and if it's clear there can be excellent views of the stars. There is a small meditation room in the house which guests may use respectfully. I have 1 resident friendly cat who likes to meet new people. We are a few miles away from the nearest shops so please take that into consideration when planning your trip.
Its a rural village surrounded by farm land and forestry, with walking and mountain bike trails. National cycle route 6 passes right through the village and we are 1 mile from the Centre for Alternative Technology. The nearest town, Machynlleth is 4 miles away, easily accessible by car, or the local bus that serves this village by day. The best cafe is 1 mile away in the next village, where you can get good coffee, food, shopping supplies and excellent friendly company.
  • Nice homely space with a great balance of feeling very welcome to use the communal space but also able to come and go as you please. Comfy bed, clean, spacious and a basic breakfast you can help yourself to if you wish. Leigh very hospitable and helpful.

  • Loved our stay here. The file of information they had left was very useful and we are so glad we took their advice to warm up in the sauna before plunging to the freezing river! Such an exhilarating experience! We really felt in touch with nature here and the constant sound of the river was so comforting. They had all you needed for a lovely stay. We had breakfast on the balcony, champagne in the sauna, dinner in the cabin. We read, we swam, we played games. What more could you want? The dog enjoyed it immensely, even more than us if that was possible. She was so excited the whole time we were there, she didn't stop running, and slept all the way home! Was a perfect start to our married life (even in the midst of coronavirus coming across everything!). We will be back, for longer! Hyfryd o le, diolch o galon!

  • This place is amazing, the pictures don’t do it justice! Would highly recommend this to all!

  • This is a charming space, which we loved so much the first time, we came back for a repeat visit!

    Lewis2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic weekend at the cabin. The cabin and surrounding environment is very romantic, peaceful and relaxing. The hosts were very welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay as perfect as possible, many thanks. The sauna is a must and make use of the freezing river next to it, highly recommended. Probably the best place we have ever stayed at!

  • My partner Conor and I have spent two nights at the beautiful shepherds hut and enjoyed our stay massively. Even though it was fairly stormy at times, we felt cosy in the hut with the fire on. The hut was sparkling clean and the bed is so comfortable, much bigger and deeper as some of the pictures let on. This shepherds hut really is a beautiful work of art and you‘ll find quirky, beautiful aspects all around the property, for example re-purposed cutlery as coat hangers. There has been so much love, thought and effort put into the development and maintenance of this hut, it’s wonderful. We will surely be back!

    Julia2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely couple of nights in Cabanant - even if one was cut short by Storm Dennis' persistent downpours! A great place to stay whatever the weather; obviously sunshine is preferable, but even in grey conditions the cabin comes alive as a great cosy hidey-hole. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back in the summer.

    Alex2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect getaway. The hut is built with attention for detail and is set in a magical location. Hearing the sounds of the gentle stream is guaranteed to give you a good night's rest. An absolute recommendation.

  • There was once a little buffalo, and he had everything he ever wanted; the city was his oyster. Yet he was not satisfied. Only when he lost everything, did he realise that less is more. Losing everything was a small price to pay for finding himself. This place may help you along your journey. Wonderful little place within a beautiful location. Highly recommend using the sauna!

I want emphasise to all our visitors that you must not use the postcode in a sat-nav for the last bit of the journey....LL36 9TR in a sat-nav directs you up the wrong lane to Bodilan Fawr- the geographical centre of the postcode. Walks, cycle, bird watch, fish. Visit Cader Idris mountain sheep farm, see/feed horses, dogs, etc. Children love! Views to Bird Rock down valley fields towards sea. Peace! Every facility needed in van. Single van in secure walled grass garden, trees.
Below is a description from a guest describing the caravan: ‘Well, where do we start?! This was just everything and more! The caravan is fully equipped for all our needs, even has free wifi! The Garden is perfect and more than we hoped and the area just bliss, The views are stunning! The caravan is funky! The bed super comfy! All you need is driving distance. its perfect for relaxing and gives you a very special secluded feeling... Thank You.
  • Amazing little caravan, has everything you need and the views are stunning! The hosts are amazing nothing is too much, very knowledgeable as they own and work on the farm so told us local points and walks. They even put the heating on for our arrival for my 3 month old! The welcome package was a great touch and nothing was too much trouble. The area is lovely and peaceful with lots to go and do. Will definitely be returning!

    Sarah2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is our third stay in the caravan. We love coming here. The area is stunning, the caravan is cosy and warm and the children love exploring the beatiful surroundings. Ken and family are great hosts. It's the perfect place to relax. Thank you again. Hope to be back again soon!

    Heidi2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful venue for a weekend away, the views were stunning (when the weather was clear anyway!) and it was perfect for a hideaway from the modern world. No signal, check! Local pub, check! Awesome views, check! On site dog, check! What more do you need!? My only bit of advice is on the instructions to get to the caravan, where its says turn left (from the East by the way!), to make sure you are on the right road look for a building on your left-hand side (before you leave the village) with a burgundy and cream text sign. Then just keep driving straight for about 1.5 to 2 miles up/down/back up again/down etc until you see the phone box. But all in all, what a fabulous location for a fabulous price!

    Charlotte2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible location, worth it even just for the view from the caravan window. Well located for hikes and exploration.

    Alun2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Another super stay at this cozy breakaway. It was just what we needed after Christmas, just some time away from our busy lives. The caravan is a little hideaway where you really can escape your troubles. All you need is here, the only thing you need is your food, clothes and selves. Great walks, great views and good location. If you want to be scheduled then here is the place to be. Perfect for the dogs with enclosed garden. We loved seeing the animals too. Home from home as we live in a village full of farms but it’s nicer to be somewhere new. We will be back soon. 😊

    Rachel And Ben2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location with everything you need within the caravan. Beautiful surroundings and wildlife, great for kids too! We’ll definitely be back!

    Kirsty2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is quite an old-fashioned caravan but everything works fine, it's warm and dry, and it's in the most beautiful spot surrounded by mountains, streams and farm animals. We've been twice and will definitely come again.

Situated on a very steep hillside this house are two slate quarry workers cottages made into one comfortable house. The cottage is from the 19th Century and most of the furniture is period. However, the kitchen and bathrooms are modern.
This is a place to retreat to, away from the hustle and bustle. The single bedrooms are small but the double is very roomy. There is no wifi or internet connection, no telephone or television.
The area was extremely important in the age of slate and there are mementos of that time to be seen everywhere.
  • Beautiful, historic cottage that is very spacious. Easy check in, well decorated and the perfect location to explore everything that Snowdonia has to offer.

    Vortex2020-03-22T00:00:00Z

  • What an amazing place! I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to stay in such an unusual home in such a beautiful setting. The village of Corris is a truly lovely place to stay and being able to stay somewhere that's both so nice and so close to woodland isn't something that you come across everyday. I very much doubt you'll regret booking a stay here!

This ground floor conversion is a spacious and elegant open plan kitchen/sitting/dining room. Triple glazed at the front, it's beautifully quiet. The generous bedroom at the back has a lovely modern wetroom. Underfloor heating throughout means you will be cosy and warm. The bustling market town of Machynlleth is just up the road, with both the railway station and the bus stop just opposite the house, so you can ditch the car and head out into the amazing countryside. Access is using a keycode.
The kitchen has all you should need - fridge, kettle, microwave, toaster, stove and oven and a large table to enjoy your meals. There is a comfy sofa and soft chair as well as the dining table & chairs. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed. The level-access wetroom leads off this room. In the sitting room, there is a sofabed (this is a small 'double') and we can provide a travel cot should you need it. The whole space is was set up for someone who had disabilities. If you have specific needs, please contact us to discuss before booking. A little glitch would be that if the electricity trips, we will need access to the bedroom - this happens once every year or two. There is parking on the street to the front, or on the small road leading up to the station. There is also an off-road carpark opposite the house which you would need to pay for separately. - Free Wifi - Smart TV with Freeview and you can access your own Netflix etc. - Guest access is with a keycode so you are completely independent.
Machynlleth punches way above its weight with its annual Comedy Festival, Music Festival (mainly 'classical'), and the Dyfi Enduro. It has its own Museum of Modern Art (five separate exhibition spaces), nearby Ynys Hir (RSPB) hosted Springwatch for three years, the Centre For Alternative Technology is just up the road and did I mention the mountain biking? There are local walks or you can start on a longer hike from here. It's an ancient town, home to Owain Glyndŵr’s 1404 parliament and a market that dates back to 1291. There are lovely pubs, some with live music at weekends. There's a good deli and eateries galore including the nearby Michelin star restaurant at Ynys Hir.
  • Great guest suite. 5 min walk from town centre but everything we needed in the apartment. We'll equipped kitchen, great wet room and comfortable bed. Plus all the great countryside around the town. Recommended!

  • A little gem in a rural setting. Perfect little base for our family of four and great value. The cottage is behind, but separate from the hosts house. Colin and his wife were great. On hand if we had any questions, but at no point did we feel like we didn’t have our own space. Log burner with a basket of logs thrown in was perfect at this time of year for some cosy nights watching movies by the fire. WIFI and a smart TV for Netflix etc. Town with shops 5 mins drive.

  • STUNNING!! Our time at sue and Steve’s cottage was effortless from start to finish. The cottage is in a perfect location and self check in was very simple. The cottage itself was perfect for me, mum and her little Yorkshire Terrier. It was clean, very homely and the perfect size. The little personal touches with the welsh cakes made it even better. The walls from the village are simply stunning followed by a drink and some fabulous food at the slaters arms! I would highly recommend staying here.

Tan y Bryn is a 4* self catering holiday cottage set in the quiet village of Corris in Southern Snowdonia. Newly refurbished & pet friendly, sleeps up to 4. Surrounded by the Dyfi forest & within easy access to the local hills & mountains for some superb walking & hiking. Great location for cycling & mountain biking too. 25 mins from the seaside. Real ale pub & wholefood café a minute from the cottage. Welcome tray with homemade cake & a free basket of logs for the woodburner on arrival.
Built in 1864, Tan y Bryn is a Grade II listed historic cottage which takes you back in time whilst providing comforts of the modern day world. It was recently awarded a 4* grading by the Welsh Tourist Board.
Corris is a unique Welsh village, small in size but big in heart. It is surrounded by spectacular countryside and is an ideal base to explore the hills and mountains of Snowdonia. Corris has a strong community spirit and a very welcoming atmosphere. It boosts a great real ale local pub and a tasty organic café, both just a minute's walk from the cottage. Both establishments welcome dogs. Round the corner from the cottage is The Corris Railway, a small narrow gauge preserved railway, where you can take a ride in a old fashioned steam train, a popular excursion for families. For gin lovers, there's the local gin distillery just over the road in the Corris Craft Centre, within walking distance from the cottage. The seaside town of Aberdyfi is only 25 mins away with its beach, harbour, cafes and restaurants.
  • What a wonderful experience! The house is amazing and has all the amenities anyone would need, a very stylish place perfect for 4 people. The location was also a highlight for us, right next to a stream of water which couldn't be more peaceful. Everything was great and Jane is truly a superhost! I highly recommend staying here.

  • A period property that's been renovated to perfection, retaining all the original charm but with the modern comforts you'd expect. Every room is beautifully furnished and packed with cosy, homely (and functional) touches. Both bedrooms are characterful, with supremely comfortable beds, high quality linen and plenty of towels. The kitchen is new, with everything you could want provided: I do all my own cooking, and found it to be very well thought out. The lounge is packed full of light, warm colours, comfy seats, and a highly functional cosy wood burner with all the necessary provisions. The shower was fairly powerful, and could go as hot as you'd like. The street outside the property is quite narrow, as is common in Wales, but the parking space is set back. Overall, it's obvious that a lot of care has been put into this property, and indeed in maintaining and keeping it pristine and homely. I highly recommend it.

  • Tan y Bryn is a fabulous cottage with fabulous scenery all around. Even the house opposite has a collection of bird feeders attracting siskins, blue and great tits, robins . The cottage is very well equipped with everything you could need. The bed was lovely and comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. The woodburner made it extra cosy in the evening.

  • Fab cottage in a nice little village, perfect for exploring the local area. Loved the log burner, very cosy in the evening. Really comfortable beds with quality bedding. The cottage is really good value for money and Jane is a fabulous host! One of our favourite Air bnb properties and we will hopefully get to spend some more time there in the future.

  • I could not recommend this cottage more highly. We had a lovely break, even in the driving rain! The cottage was warm and cosy and it was a lovely place to recharge our batteries. Jane has thought of everything you could possibly need as a guest and the bedding, rugs, blankets and artwork in the cottage make it feel very luxurious.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your beautifully furnished cottage, it’s immaculately clean, lovely and cozy. We also loved the location with stunning scenery and lots of enjoyable walks on the doorstep. Everyone in the village was welcoming and friendly, especially the local organic coffee shop and pub. We’d love to stay here again and would highly recommend.

  • Beautiful little cottage in a stunning area. Upon arrival we noticed straightaway how clean everything was, the kitchen has everything you could need, and the lounge is just a nice, cosy place to be, especially when with a log or two on the fire. Upstairs was the same, very clean and the beds were very comfortable. All in all it’s a great place to stay and also very accommodating if you have a dog. It’s the perfect location to explore the surrounding areas with dog walks right on the doorstep. Will definitely be visiting again.

  • Had a super stay in the most perfect, warm and welcoming Welsh village cottage. Everything from the lovely welcome tray, super comfortable beds with top quality bedding, white fluffy towels, fantastic powerful shower with plenty of hot water, comfortable lounge with wood burner and exceptionally well equipped kitchen really was immaculate. The owners have thought of everything and have been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend Tan y Bryn for a relaxing, peaceful break away from it all - a little gem which we will most definitely go back to. Thank you Jane and Dan.

  • I had a perfect 3 nights at Abi's and Zoe's apartment. I stayed late on last year and the property was lovely and fresh back then but now they have given it even more amenities and its the real deal. Zoe was an amazing host and incredibly helpful and had thought of pretty much everything I wanted and more. Also the touches such as fresh fruit, ground coffee and fresh bread on arrival made the stay 10/10

  • Would recommend this place 💯 %

  • Room as described. Warm and cosy. Central location and easy to find. Kitchenette with fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave plus enough crockery etc is useful. I'm happy to recommend to others and would stay there again if in Mach.

    Sarah2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Abi’s place is lovely, in a great location and very clean. It has everything you could possibly need. When the weather was really bad we got offered board games and there was bread for breakfast and a variety of jams. Thank you!

  • A cosy, private retreat surrounded by the glorious scenery and attractions of Mid Wales. Abi is a great communicator and goes above and beyond to provide a warm welcome, yummy breakfast treats, and whatever information you might need. There’s private off-road parking & it’s right in the centre of town, a few yards from shops and cafes, and only a few minutes from varied walking paths along the Dyfi valley or up into the hills. Perfect!

  • A lovely place in a beautiful setting of Snowdonia. The trails are nearly at your doorstep. The place is sparkling clean and very cosy. Highly recommend it!

  • Myself and my partner were utterly delighted by our stay at Abi's place! We feel fortunate to have stayed with Abi, and to have met such a friendly, welcoming and easy to communicate with host. The space is ideal for relaxing, and is private without being withdrawn. It is so spacious, and evidently a lot of love has gone in to the design of the room and the furnishings, which combine to give it a homely and comfortable feel. There are really thoughtful small touches (providing lovely ground coffee, sheepskin throws, a comfy sofa, slippers and a book of suggestions among other things), which were greatly appreciated. Also an amazing location, slap bang in the centre of town but tucked out of sight so there is limited footfall past the property. It is easily walkable (even with luggage) from Mach station, and Abi was kindly waiting outside the property to wave us down on arrival! We can't thank Abi enough, and are very hopeful to return! (Mach is also a lovely town with good eateries, and stunning vistas nearby, ideal for walks! Though we needed a slouch).

  • The studio is very well presented and is spacious as described. The bed is extremely comfortable and I slept with no issues at all during my stay. Due to the studio apartment setup you have everything you require and it felt more relaxing than other properties I have stayed at in Machynlleth. The location is absolutely perfect for whatever you need in Machynlleth, whether it's mountain biking or walking or local history walks and scenic treks, the apartment is in a prime location. Abi and Zoe were fantastic hosts and have thought of everything to make your stay relaxing and they are always on hand for any help. I highly recommend staying here.

The open plan lounge/kitchen/diner on the ground floor has a double sofa/bed, table and chairs, an electric oven/hob, microwave, kettle, fridge, toaster (plus starter kit of tea, coffee and sugar) and a well-stocked games box. Stairs up to open-plan bedroom with double bed and bathroom en-suite. Sleeps 2 (or 4 cosily with 2 on the double sofa/bed downstairs). Free Wi-fi THERE IS NO TV OR DVD PLAYER Secure bicycle parking CD /Bluetooth Player
Set in the heart of rural mid-Wales, Machynlleth is a lovely historic market town with a population of about 2,000. In the town (a 2 minute walk) there are: several cafes and pubs; a wholefood shop; a couple of supermarkets and lots of antique shops. Also a leisure centre (swimming pool, squash courts, bowls rink, fitness suite and sports hall) and an outdoor playground;. Notably, apart from the supermarkets, all the shops are ‘independently’ owned. There is a fair bit of live music in town - in the pubs and at the Tabernacle. There are also a few drop-in activities to participate in e.g. Table Tennis and Board Games (both once a week) if you want to know more about these please ask us.
  • Always a warm cosy stay.

    Deb2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a friendly and cosy cottage at the back of the owner's house. There is good parking facilities. The local amenities are very good : a good supermarket right across the road on the main high street. Everything, including a leisure centre and nice, local walks all doable on foot from the cottage; even with small children. The town itself is set in beautiful landscape with land and sea nearby and easily accessible with a car. The owners were friendly, made us feel prepared and everything was thought about. Would highly recommend.

  • Sabrina and John were fantastic hosts. The place is in a great location to explore Mach and mid Wales. We used it as a base to cycle about and it worked really well!

    Daniel2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely recommend this place if you want a break from a city, and don’t need a car to get there. The place is really well located to the station, shops for amenities, and access to some beautiful walks. We weren’t around long enough to take advantage of more of the sights in the area, but the cottage had everything we needed for two days, and Sabrina and John were incredibly kind and accommodating. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again should we have a chance to visit this area in the future.

  • What a great little cottage. Perfect for a small family like ours (2+ 1). The house was very clean and very well equipped. We had a great stay just before Christmas. Sabrina and John decorated the cottage so it felt lovely and Christmassy inside. They've also provide a large selection of board games to enjoy in the evenings. Have spent great few days in Machynelth exploring the area Took the amazing Cambrian coast train route from local train station to Porthmaddog with breathtaking scenery along the way. Went on Santa's steam train from Tywyn and flew kites on the beautiful Tywyn beach. Hopefully will come back again in future!

  • We’ve just come back from 3 nights at the cottage and really couldn’t have wished for more! It is perfectly located for everything we wanted to do and the directions and messages we received from Chris meant we found it easily. The cottage itself is comfortable, cosy and a lovely home to return to at the end of a busy day out exploring the area. Chris had very kindly provided milk, bread and butter and even offered to get any shopping we might have needed when she was going to do her’s. She really did make us feel so welcome and very much at home. The cottage had everything we needed and more! We absolutely loved our stay here and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. We hope to return again soon!

The weather was also absolutely gorgeous which made it perfect to visit Barmouth and Portmeirion while we were there. We enjoyed some amazing mountain views and you can hear the stream flowing from their back garden while we sipped our tea - Chris was kind to leave us a loaf of bread, milk and butter to get us started. Scratch a.k.a. Mr Mukherjee, their cat is a bundle of joy - he popped in to say hello and got lots of cuddles from us. We would definitely recommend staying here!

Cosy Chapel in the heart of Snowdonia close to the seaside town of Aberdyfi. Designed by local architect and finished to a excellent standard. Nearby village of Pennal has a excellent Pub and Restaurant serving fine local food. Fabulous place for lover's of the outdoors as there are many walks, cycle paths and nature reserves on the doorstep. The Historic march town of Machynlleth is a short drive and has a wide range of quality shops and eateries.
Former village Chapel sympathetically converted offering a cosy space with lots of light and finished to the highest standard.

  • Lovely cosy cottage in beautiful location

    Sonia2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay for a weekend away, or longer! Very easy to find, situated on the road only 10 minutes away from Aberdyfi. The house is well insulated from the noise of any cars which do pass so don’t be put off by this! The building has been refurbished to an extremely high standard, it was a pleasure to stay in such a well designed house. Well equipped kitchen, induction hob was fantastic. Everything you could need including washing machine and dish washer. Bathroom has a beautiful rainfall shower and the water was always nice and hot and good pressure. The highlight for us was the fireplace, perfect for rainy evenings in. Can’t wait to stay here again!

    Tom2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the warmth and character of the chapel (and especially the calm and beauty of the view of the field behind, which is shared by sheep and pheasants!). It is comfortably and attractively furnished, and thoughtfully equipped by host Michael. The bed in the main bedroom is one of the most comfortable that we have ever slept in on holiday - a wonderful firm thick mattress - so extra thanks, Michael, for such good nights' sleep! And we really appreciated the big fluffy bathroom towels too! Michael gave us all the info we needed for the Chapel - and about the surrounding area. The position is excellent for exploring a corner of Wales with so much to offer - the glorious countryside of the Snowdonia National Park with its dark skies, perfect for stargazing, if only the weather is clear enough; gorgeous seaside towns like Aberystwyth and Abudovey (Welsh Aberdyfi); and wonderfully quirky and alternative Machynlleth (don't miss the Centre for Alternative Technology with its friendly, wonderfully knowledgeable and passionate staff and so much to see and learn and experience - at least half a day needed or more). There was plenty more left to see for a return visit. Judi and Steve Herman - and a very happy Bertie the Bedlington Terrier

    Judi Herman2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space. Spotless. Comfortable living are and bedrooms. Michael was very helpful too

    Karen2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The chapel has been converted & styled to a high standard & has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is located on a main road & when there is traffic it rattles past at quite a rate but it’s not a particularly busy road & there is a parking bay outside the front of the house so parking was quite straightforward. The surrounding area is lovely, we visited Machynlleth (a little market town) & Aberdovey & Barmouth for the sandy beaches. Also drove further afield to visit Portmeirion which is about an hour away but well worth the visit-it was literally like being in Italy the morning we went (although you can’t take dogs into the village so one of our party stayed at home with the dog!) We enjoyed an evening meal at The Riverside in Pennal which is 5 minutes drive from the house, huge portions & good value for money. Would definitely recommend Michael’s place & the surrounding beauty of North Wales.

    Julia2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the chapel, the inside is beautifully done with a lot to do near by

Outside to the front is a raised sitting area with wonderful views over the Dulas Valley. To the rear is a small yard and to the side a log and bike shed. Travel cot, high chair, baby bath and fire guard are available.

Within the living area is a Woodwarm wood burner, sofa, armchair, flat screen TV and DVD player. WiFi code accessible within cottage. Therefore the property may not be suitable for those with limited mobility, please contact me if unsure. Pets: Well behaved dogs are welcome, as Isfryn is a small cottage we would recommend one large dog or two small to medium dogs only. Whilst there is no garden there are many walks directly from the cottage. Minimum of three night stay. Sorry we only take week bookings during July and school holidays.

  • This is a beautiful old cottage with lots of beautiful original features, comfortable furniture and a location that takes some beating! The cottage is extremely well equipped, with all you would need for a stay of any duration. We were only staying for a weekend, in order to escape fireworks, and didn't venture very far due to the weather, but will definitely be back to check out the village pub, gin distillery and have a drive out to the craft centre. The owners communication was excellent and all necessary information was provided in a timely manner.

  • We stayed at Petrina's welcoming cottage in Corris at the end of October, the weather was mixed but we had a lovely time. The log fires were amazing and we were also able to go on some lovely local walks in the forest, up Cadair Idris and along the Aberdovey and Twyn beaches. Of course, we also visited the many local attractions such as the craft center, village coffee shop and the CAT center. The cozy cottage was cleaned to an exceptional standard for our arrival; there was a lovely welcome gift provided for us also. The instructions for the cottage were very clear, the advice on starting the fire was especially appreciated; you can tell the host has put a lot of care into preparing the property for their guests, you really feel like you are in their home. We will definitely be staying again!

  • Love this house. It's in a beautiful location on the edge of the village. It's not "High End" but is furnished comfortably and in keeping with the age of the place. We found everything you could want for a holiday there. Clean and well equipped with a charm all of it's own.

pretty 18th century beamed cottage in the heart of town, however it is very peaceful as it is off a private lane. There is private parking for 2 cars at the rear of the property through the courtyard garden. Two slate steps from the car park take you through the courtyard garden into the kitchen then down two steps into the lounge with woodburner, which lead to the stairs and bedroom, bathroom and single bed on landing...
The cottage has a washer dryer, dishwasher, freezer, vacuum cleaner, dvd player, tv with sky Q no premium movies or sport and super fast broadband.
Seconds from busy Wednesday market, brilliant pubs, music, festivals, MOMA and CAT , for business or pleasure the venue here is sublime. Mac is wonderful. Many lovely sole trader shops, a fab leisure centre, delightful walks. Close to Snowdonia National Park and beautiful beaches of Aberdovey , Twywyn, Borth etc. always something happening in Mach... this house is our home and we love it... you will too.

  • A warm welcome in a well-located cosy cottage. Though it is small, our family of 5 did not feel cramped. We loved the log burner and the fact that it’s a minute’s walk into the heart of beautiful Machynlleth. Would definitely recommend.

  • Pam was an amazing host & her place was perfect; cosy, relaxing, & practically next door to the pub and the town centre. Beautiful walks all within a few minutes walk from the front door. We love Machynlleth and I couldn’t think of anywhere better to stay!

  • One of the little cottage. That was cosy and lovely to stay in. The only minor gripe was the loud music from the neighbours they carried on late evening. Thank you so much for your wonderfulLittle cottage to stay at
