  • We had a fantastic stay at Kate's place. It's a beautiful property in a lovely village, with a well equipped kitchen, great bathroom and incredibly comfortable bed and sofa, all we could have wanted for a crash pad after the wedding we were attending! I'd definitely recommend staying here...

  • Kate, her lovely children and dog were all extreemely welcoming! Couldn't ask for more in a host, the cottage was perfectly clean and smelt delightfully of clean washing throughout. Some food basics such as milk, bread and eggs were left for us which made us feel immediately looked after and catered for. Castor itself is beautiful with easy access to surrounding areas of Peterborough. If I need a place to stay in Peterborough in future I won't hesitate to head straight back to the cottage!

    Laura2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's place was beautifully clean and well equipped. It had a nice secure area to park my car. Located in a pretty, peaceful area. Kate always responded very promptly to my messages and gave advice regarding local walks by the river and others places to visit close by. She allowed us to check in early which was very helpful! Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet weekend away.

A unique retreat for lovebirds wanting a luxurious getaway. Located 5 miles from the picturesque market town of Stamford. The barn has recently undergone a no-expense-spared renovation and has been used for magazine photo shoots. Romantic and classy. This one-bedroom barn is perfect for if you are looking to treat yourself to a romantic break for you and your partner. The reviews speak for themselves; the place is absolutely gorgeous. It is like a high-end hotel suite, but with unique period charm and totally private. There are high beamed ceilings throughout and the brick flooring is under heated. The bathroom has a double-ended cast iron roll top bath and the lighting is dimmable. There is an endless supply of piping hot water supplied by an on-demand boiler. The Samsung smart TV is connected to a 500mb per second internet connection. It is located near to the log burner and makes an ideal setting for a quiet night in. All the logs you need are stacked on the brick hearth and if you are running low there is a log store in the courtyard outside. Kindling and firelighters are also supplied. Crisp white towels are arranged on the heated towel rail in the bathroom. There is a tandem with wicker basket available for guest use at no extra charge. The barn cannot be seen from the road and shares a drive with the neighboring farmhouse (which is where we live). It has a private secure parking area for two cars located in its own paddock. We appreciate that this is your time away and we want you to feel that the barn is your private haven. If you want advice on where to eat or what to visit, you're more that welcome to ask. The day before you arrive we'll send a message giving you directions to the property and instructions for the key. You'll find a mini clip board containing useful instructions like the password for the internet and heating. Quite often we never even see our guests throughout their entire stay, but if you do need us at any point you can come to the farmhouse or drop us a text. That might be because you need more logs or you want to borrow our tandem. Easy access to Stamford by car or bike. Gastro pub (the White Hart in Ufford) just 1.5 miles away. Plenty of great walks. There is a taxi rank in Stamford if you are worried about drinking and driving. Taxis back to the barn in the evening are about £12. 1. It makes ideal accommodation for Burghley House events, like Burghley Horse Trials. 2. The nearest Waitrose is in Stamford. 3. There are plenty of really good walks and a footpath through some lovely countryside starts just 25 meters from the property. 4. There is an excellent gastro pub just five minutes drive away in the neighboring village of Ufford. 5. If you are celebrating an anniversary or special occasion you might want to book a meal at the George Hotel in Stamford.
  • Beautiful place, we had everything we needed - we didn't use the food available but such a fab idea! Stamford is gorgeous and we recommend the Turkish restaurant The Mad Turk. We thoroughly enjoyed our short mini-moon! Thank you.

The lodgings is a 500 year old building originally used for guests to the Prebendal Manor up stairs and for animals downstairs. These days it is a family home with many interesting features. We have proper walls, beams galore and a spiral staircase. We are in the grounds of the Prebendal Manor and guests are welcome to use the gardens, which are particularly beautiful in June when the roses are in full bloom.
Nassington is a beautiful village that has a village shop, butcher and a couple of pubs that serve food. There are numerous pubs in surrounding villages that also serve food and we are happy to help if you need suggestions on where to eat.

He gives you your space and lets you use his kitchen if needed as well as providing coffee, tea and bread/toast in the morning. The property is within lovely ground, which you can have a walk around. The house is a small village, about 10 minutes from Peterborough and Oundle, within lovely countryside. Very comfy medium to firm mattress/bed, great night sleep. Own use of bathroom, which is modern with a good bath/shower. I couldn't recommend this high enough in all regards. Thank James.

Stay in one of the UK's oldest houses. A beautiful high ceilinged room with an en-suite bathroom in Northamptonshire's oldest house. Dating back to the 13th century the house is unique and out of the ordinary. Thick walls, beams and large fireplaces are the norm. NB The price doesn't include breakfast but guests are welcome to tea, coffee, toast and jam.
The Prebendal Manor is an 800 year old building dating back to 1230 with many historical connections. Originally owned by Lincoln Cathedral these days it is ya family home with many interesting features. We have proper walls, a medieval hall, church windows and large fireplaces.

  • Jane (James' lovely mother) met us upon our arrival and made us most welcome by giving us tea and showing us all over this remarkable property. The manor, gardens and museum are even more beautiful, peaceful and historically interesting than we had expected! Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Staying here was a wonderful way to start off our holiday in England!

    Kimberly2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful historic gem! I was honored to be able to stay at this fabulous manor. The extra was that it is overseen by a delightful woman who loves the history and sharing same to all who are interested. Its quiet, well appointed and if you love history, you will love your stay here.

    David2017-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay with Jane. We felt incredibly lucky to be staying in her beautiful, historic home. It is so rare to be able to stay somewhere with such a fascinating history. Jane was a very generous and wonderfully hospitable hostess we felt very at home.

    Thomas2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was the most amazing place to stay. Jane (James' mother) showed us through her home and explained the history of the property. Totally fascinating. Both my husband and I can not give high enough praise for hosts and the property. The local pub also were very friendly and helpful. Thank you Jane for making our last night in England so memorable.

    Pauline2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts and lovely room, grounds and building. All in all would definitely recommend.

    Moncer872016-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the most wonderful places I've ever stayed in, both as a lover of history and as a lover of beauty and comfort. It's an incredibly historic building surrounded by Medieval gardens and a beautiful town, and if you want, Jane (the hostess, James' mother) will give you a tour and tell you all about it. She's very knowledgeable about the history. With my sister and brother-in-law, I stayed in a comfortable and beautiful old suite with a pleasant bathroom and a separate bedroom for me with a lovely view of the church across the road. Jane welcomed us to the kitchen for our dinner (which we brought) and breakfast of toast and cereal. Don't miss the church across the road. It has a fascinating 1000-year history and six bells, which we got to hear before church on Sunday morning.

    Christy2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable stay again with kind hosts. Paul Cook

  • I booked Kathryn's cottage for my colleagues who were working at the Burghley Horse Trial and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay in this beautiful little country gem. The bedrooms were very sweet and super comfy. Kitchen and bathroom were well equipped and the entire place was absolutely neat and spotless. We were even allowed to bring our dachshund Byron who enjoyed his stay just as much as his humans. Not just the cottage itself but also the surroundings are beautiful: lovely views, beautifully kept gardens, horses...a truly fantastic country experience. Kathryn made us feel really welcome and was very helpful from the start. I can thoroughly recommend staying in her cottage. Thank you for this fantastic experience, Kathryn!

A charming 2 bedroom self catering cottage located in the small riverside village of WATER NEWTON, just outside Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, minutes off the North/South A1(M) and A47 East/West routes and minutes from the East of England Showgrounds. Part of the River Nene Cottages complex.
A small 2 bed cottage with an open plan kitchen dining and sitting area with an open fireplace and low beamed ceiling. The two bedrooms have high vaulted ceilings. There is one brand new white shower bathroom. There is a communal entranceway to this cottage.
Water Newton is a small stone village of about 40 houses. We are surrounded by farm land, wetlands and the River Nene. We are only 8 miles from Peterborough, yet, although close to the A1, we are in a very pretty part of the countryside.
  • This was our first experience with Airbnb and now, having stayed at Yew Tree Cottage, we are sold on the experience. Yew Tree Cottage is a delightful residence in a beautiful part of the country that has been converted and renovated with style yet comfort in mind. It provides everything you could possibly need and Philip & Stephen could not have been more hospitable and helpful, advising us on the locality, areas of possible interest and excellent local pubs/restaurants. We were lucky as it had only just been posted on the website as I am sure this property will become a firm favourite for all who stay there. We look forward to returning in the future.

  • Yew Tree Cottage is a delightful cottage, full of wonderful charm and character as well as clean and tidy. Although we only needed to stay for one night we wished we could have stayed a lot longer, and plan to go back and stay again in the future. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful and I can't recommend this accommodation highly enough - if for no other reason the comfort of the beds! Everything you would like in an airbnb and so much more. Highly recommended.

  • We loved the cosy cottage. It is beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need for a 'home from home' feel. The location was great for us - close to main roads to the nearby major cities, but set in a quaint little village and close to other pretty villages with nice eateries etc. We visited the local working farm and steam railway and thoroughly enjoyed both! Stephen and Philip greeted us warmly and were extremely helpful and attentive throughout our stay. We wholeheartedly recommend a stay at Water Newton!

1 double bedroom period, self catering stone cottage/apartment in a building with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams; full facilities within. Newly renovated, brand new appliances. Part of River Nene Cottages complex.
It's a very comfortable cottage located conveniently close to Peterborough and the A1/A47 main arterial routes, with security behind walled and gated boundaries, right in the heart of open farmland countryside.
Everything from the open countryside, the river running through the village upon which you will see many boats during the boating season. We have a very old church with lots of important history about it, plus we are so conveniently located for getting on to and off the A1 meaning no town traffic, holdups or sirens. At night there is no light pollution so on clear nights you can see the stars and watch out for satellites going overhead including the ISS.
  • Ideal for us, secluded, picturesque, well furnished and refurbished. Our host was attentive when needed and always pleasant. Our only slight disappointment was the absence of a nice pub within easy walking distance, but that wasn't our priority, so our stay was perfect

  • Absolutely fantastic host & a great place to stay

    Sam2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen and Philip have this amazing fairy tale stone cottage in the beautiful village of Water Newton. The cottage is stylishly furnished. There is a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, Wifi and Netflix(!). We stayed a month and it felt like old English countryside living. The cottage is on lovely landscaped grounds with roses growing up against the wall. We step out of the grounds and we're in the picturesque countryside with the River Nene running through it. There are public footpaths for long walks / hikes / runs. Pubs and grocery stores are a few minutes drive away. The hosts live in the house next door and are always available to help with anything. They're friendly, hospitable and just so generous with everything. Perfect hosts! I highly recommend Coach Cottage to anyone who would like to escape to a classic English cottage in the countryside.

  • Coach Cottage is such a lovely place to stay. It's beautifully done up and all the things you might need are there. Stephen is fab as a host and very helpful. The surrounding area is beautiful with lots of lovely walks and cute market towns (Stamford was our fav) I'd highly recommend staying here if you want to relax and get away from it all.

    Louise2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay in Coach Cottage. Steven and Phil are brilliant hosts who were able to accommodate us at very short notice. Coach Cottage is beautiful, and perfect for a peaceful and restful stay. After checking in we had a paddle down the river in Steven and Phill's canoe before watching the sunset with a glass of wine by the river. My wife and I could not have been happier with our stay, we will definitely be coming back.

Great single bedroom in a beautiful home, set in very quiet countryside a few miles from the beautiful Georgian market town of Stamford. There's a pull-out second single bed - proper bed, not camp bed, so easily sleeps 2 people separately. Large, high-spec modern house with off-road parking. Breakfast in gorgeous kitchen. 100% Egyptian cotton sheets and towels. You're welcome to bring one dog, so long as s/he is house trained but please request this in application. There is a dog here.
This isn't a big room, but it's very comfortable. Single bed, and another pull-out single bed - proper frame and mattress, not a camp bed. White Egyptian cotton sheets. Beautiful travetrine lined modern bathroom, not en suite but on the landing, you'll be the sole user of that bathroom. Provision of shampoo and conditioner, soap, showercap. There's a desk in the room. Good wifi access.
The house is located in a quiet village about 7 miles from the Georgian market town of Stamford. Chances are, if you're looking here, you know Stamford... you might be on a walking holiday in the vicinity, or visiting for some event at Burghley House or elsewhere nearby. We're about a twenty minute drive (12 miles) from Peterborough.
  • I can highly recommend Ruth's. We had a lovely stay in Ruth's beautiful, peaceful and very comfortable home. She could not have been more welcoming or hospitable and was very helpful with recommendations for the local area. Super breakfast too. Location is really handy for Stamford, etc.

  • Four of us stayed in Barley cottage for a two night weekend break. It was prefect for our needs- cosy and well-equipped with access to a beautiful patio/swimming pool area. The hosts were great- very helpful and made us feel at home. We would definitely return to this gorgeous, secluded spot.

  • The photos here don't do this cottage justice - it's even nicer in real life. We spent two nights in the cottage and we're delighted with all aspects. The cottage is spotless, freshly decorated and homely. We were warmly welcomed by Julie with chocolate cake and were grateful for a fridge stocked with milk, juice, bread, etc. The large bed was particularly comfy with quality bedlinen. It is set a beautifully tended garden and very peaceful. Of all our AirBNB stays this was the best.

    Sarah2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Spent two days abd nights at this beautiful and peaceful place. The property itself is really clean and tidy offering everything that someone may need. Very warm welcoming, Jake the labrador also contributes to this. The garden is wonderful and the whole atmosphere really helps you to relax and recharge your batteries. Very kind and classy people. I definitely reccomend this to anyone.

  • The cottage was perfect with everything we needed to make it an incredibly comfortable stay. Julie was a very attentive and flexible host allowing us to enjoy our stay even further. There were breakfast items available in the fridge on arrival which was a welcome surprise. As it was Christmas we were treated to Christmas decorations that we could use if we wished. We had also been provided with additional bedding and towels as we had a lengthy stay. The location is a delightful village with local amenities such as a shop, pubs and cafe. A short drive away is the local town for larger requirements. It's also great for walks if you like the Englsih countryside. It really was a home from home and we would definitely return again in the future and recommend a stay for anyway wanting to be in the area. Thank you

  • Julie and JT were amazing hosts! They were so friendly and accommodating during our stay. The house itself was beautiful. Very spacious and well decorated, it also had everything you need for a great stay...Julie even left us a few provisions in the fridge :) My favorite part was the garden, you have your own private sitting area with table and chairs in the back yard with an optional awning so you can enjoy the outdoors in any weather! This is by far one of the best airbnb places I have stayed in. I would highly recommend a stay here.

You’ll love my place because of It's a lovely, calm studio flat in peaceful, quiet countryside, yet only a short car ride to the beautiful market town of Stamford, where you can find shops, restaurants, pubs, cafés and more. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and furry friends (pets). Very comfortable mattress, double bed; high spec fittings in shower-room; Flat-screen TV, DVD and Blu-Ray machine; Coffee machine, milk frother for your morning capuccino, and more
This is a self catering studio flat in an annex outside of the residential house. You will be completely independent. The house is a fairly recent build (2008) to a very high spec (engineered oak floors, underfloor heating, travertine bathroom, good taps and showers etc), and decorated in minimal style (white sofas and bedding, glass table, Moroccan rug - no spurious "decorations"!). There is a small kitchenette for basic cooking, and care has been taken to leave you all the kitchen and bathroom amenities you might require. The view is out into the garden, and you can use your section of the garden too, there's a table and chairs out there. Very comfortable mattress, double bed; high spec fittings (including allover travertine tiles) in shower-room; Flat-screen TV, DVD and Blu-Ray machine; Coffee machine, milk frother for your morning capuccino, and more. You will have the use of a section of the large garden - check out the photographs; very happy for your dog to play in the garden too (though not in the flower beds!). You have the use of parking in the front driveway or undercover in the garage if you prefer.
The village is actually a hamlet with a single road going through it. There are other villages close by - Barnack and Ufford, with Bainton, Helpston and Wansford not very far at all. Lovely gentle countryside all round. The Hills and Holes in Barnack was once a quarry and has lovely dips and rises, wooded in places, great for walking dogs - or walking yourselves. It's about a mile and a half away, so easily walking distance.

The conservation village location makes it an ideal place to stay with pubs/shop/cafe in village and surrounded by country walks. Only 5 mins from City Centre and A1 motorway access.
  • Julie and JT are excellent hosts. The house is delightful and everything is presented to an extremely high standard.
