  • Chris had described his place perfectly . There were added extras , fruit, tea and coffee . Chris is very friendly and efficient . Breakfast was good and the BBQ on arrival was definitely unexpected. I received a text to say he was lighting BBQ would I like to join him and his son. Now that is good service. Book this one , just easy and relaxed.

  • Chris is the nicest host anyone could ask for. From the very first day I moved in, I felt very welcome and immediately at home. Chris is full of interesting stories and I always look forward to getting in after a long day at work. The room is clean and well kept (as is the entire house) and its homely feel is only surpassed by its fantastic location. It takes less than a minute to get to the train station and around 5 minutes to get to the town square. 5 stars all around, I couldn't recommend highly enough.

  • Chris was a great host and the room was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The property is ideally located, just minutes from the railway station and from the town centre; perfect for exploring the local area. Thoroughly recommended - I will definitely stay again for future visits to the area.

  • A friendly welcome, with a warm and comfortable atmosphere. A real home from home, and a wholly positive place to stay. Closeness to the raikway station was a definite plus for me. The only slight drawback was the access to the only toilet (and combined wet room shower) is through the kitchen. However, my experience was wholly positive and I am very happy to recommend Chris's place to all AirBnb visitors.

Close to historic market town of Petersfield, and within Southdowns National Park. On train line to London or the coast. Many good pubs and eatery's nearby. Twice weekly market. A clean and modern bungalow with relaxing garden area, and ample parking on our drive.
John and Fi enjoy socialising with our many friends in our bar HMS Cava Shack in the garden!. Come join us for a cool beer or wine whilst relaxing in the evening sunshine. We look forward to welcoming new friends and hope you will enjoy our home. We endeavour to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Our home is just 5 minutes walk from Petersfield Lake, which is a lovely walk. You can feed the ducks, or in the summer go out in a rowing boat or canoe. Most picturesque. The Plump Duck is a 5 star (trip advisor) cafe over looking the lake.
  • Really lovely house in Petersfield. Fiona and John were absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend them if staying in this area.

  • Great stay with Fiona and John! If only we had more time to enjoy (we were very late for a wedding by the time we got there)!

    Elise2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to stay. Me and my girlfriend were cycling the south Downs way, and stayed at Fiona's on the way. She was so lovely and accommodating to all out needs, we turned up covered in mud and they didn't mind at all offering us towels and hosing down our bikes. The room is a great size, very comfy bed, big tv and a bathroom right next door. We had an amazing Italian meal in Petersfield itself. Thoroughly recommend staying here. Thank you.

  • A home away from home! Jennifer's immaculately kept barn converted property was situated off an incredibly peaceful country lane, if you enjoy a bit of rest and relaxation you'll love it here. Spacious, modern and cosy, we loved staying here and would without a doubt stay again if we were in the area. Jennifer is a great host, she provided us with detailed directions to the property, and although it was late when we arrived was more than happy to greet us. The continental breakfast was an unexpected treat, and gratefully appreciated! Thank you for having us.

  • Wendy was wonderful! I was a last minute booking due to my company mucking up my hotel. Wendy was so quick to respond and even picked me up at the station. The Lodge is gorgeous. Very spacious and comfortable. Bed lovely and big, great bathroom. Breakfast was continental and perfect for my needs. I was a business traveller this time but wouldn't hesitate to visit again for leisure. I can't recommend enough.

  • Wow! My stay with Wendy & Reg in Petersfield was absolutely amazing. Wendy communicated with me very well up to the time of my arrival and confirmed details with me about time of arrival and she was there to greet me on a beautiful summers afternoon with clear blue skies after I had driven up from Devon. Wendy showed me around Beaufort Lodge pointing out all the features of the lodge and then offered me a glass of Red wine to help me settle in. After meeting her husband Reg I then had a pleasant evening sitting outside the lodge eating my pre-prepared salad with my topped up glass of Red. It was very interesting meeting both Wendy & Reg as both of us come from a Military background and had a common ground and interests, not least because of my love of Brass bands and the fact that Reg plays in one of the most famous. On the Sunday, I was woken with a really nice breakfast served to my door by Reg and then I went out to lunch to meet up with my cousin and her daughter. Afterwards we returned to Beaufort Lodge where Reg and Wendy organised cushions, a shade and iced water for all three of us. Again Wendy went out of her way to welcome my cousin and daughter as well. That night after my cousin left, Wendy cooked up some Ravioli Pasta and Arriabata sauce I had bought and then included with it two glasses of Red wine as well. I then sat under the evening sun reading a book in a very calm evening with a plate of strawberries and cream, a great wind down for the weekend. My last day, Wendy gave me an extended check out as I was leaving for Hong Kong on a late afternoon flight. Reg delivered breakfast again to my door, this time with two soft boiled eggs and toast for egg and fingers! In terms of Beaufort Lodge itself, it really is a delight, wonderful comfortable bed, nice TV and great bathroom . A nice hot shower with a steady stream of water. Plus absolutely fantastic hosts as well. As an AirBnB hosts myself from Victoria Australia, I know what it takes to be a 5 Star Host. Well I give Wendy & Reg 6 stars all round. Do stay here and you will not be disappointed. I will definitely be back again. AirBnb of course is not just about hosting, its also about the interaction with guests and providing the guest experience. For me I was trying to wind down from my business/work related trip before heading back down under via Hong Kong and with a 13 hour flight ahead. It was just great chilling out at Beaufort Lodge. Well worth the stay and again many thanks for your wonderful hospitality. Andrew

    Andrew2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy and Reg were fantastic hosts; there if we needed them but not overbearing which is exactly what you want. We were greeted with a smile and the offer of a beer which we still regret not taking (I think it caught us off guard!). The breakfast included was great with the added benefit of not having to move. Would definitely recommend staying here for a weekend break and exploring Petersfield and surrounding areas (do not be tempted by Portsmouth!). The lake, walkable from the lodge was a highlight where you can rent boats and have a laze about. Thanks for having us! Ben and Rhiannon

    Ben2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic experience! Communication with Wendy has been great since we booked. We were able to do the checking even earlier than we were expected. Place was excellent. Pretty accurate with description provided. A modern and bright space with an en-suit bathroom. Every little detail has been taken care with great love. Very comfortable bed, space for storing, spotless with a good view of the garden. Breakfast was included and we were able to choose ours every day from a menu with several options. Location was good too. In spite we had our car with us (and space for parking too!) we saw the train station and bus stops near by. Town center is about 5 min walking (or even less). Wendy and her family made us feel very comfortable during our stay this bank holiday weekend. Definitely I would recommend this place. Many thanks!

    Jacqueline2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy was absolutely fab! Got to check in early for a wedding and she even, out of the kindness in her heart, took me and my friend to the wedding. The place we stayed was beautiful, clean, cosy and tranquil. Absolutely over the moon with our stay. Will defiantly come back again if we are ever in the area!

    Natasha2017-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beaufort Lodge is a real gem. It is completely independent of the main house, set in a large garden, immaculately maintained and tastefully decorated. It is spotlessly clean and Wendy takes great care in ensuring all the details are correct. It is located just a few minutes walk away from the centre of Petersfield which is a pleasant town with good transport links. It is a good base for walking, cycling and visiting Goodwood Festival of Speed and/or Revival. Wendy and Reg are excellent hosts.

    Patricia and Gavin2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely lovely, if brief, stay at Beaufort Lodge. Wendy welcomed us very warmly. The photos perhaps don't quite do the lodge justice. It's incredibly roomy and very comfortable indeed. Truly a great little gem for any length of stay, though we were very sad we could only be there for one night.

    Tim2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy was a superb host. We drove down from the North of England and arrived far later than planned. Wendy couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Beaufort Lodge was extremely comfortable, clean and welcoming, with fresh fruit, soft towels and a very comfortable bed. Super shower too. The lodge is set in a beautiful garden and is very private and quiet.

Welcome to Angel Cottage. A double room with king size bed in my home in the heart of the South Downs. Our holiday homes are a wonderful base for families and large groups wishing to explore the beautiful South Downs National Park.
Our holiday homes, Rose Cottage, Edward's Cottage and Stable Cottage, are set in the heart of the beautiful Hampshire countryside with wonderful views across a peaceful valley. They are a rural haven for visitors but only 10 minutes from Petersfield, with fantastic road and rail connections for London and Portsmouth. This description and photos are for Rose Cottage. Please see our other adverts for photos of Stable Cottage and Edward's Cottage. The three holiday homes would suit large groups and families looking to holiday together. Please ask your host, Venetia, for more information. Our small working farm, Downlands Farm, on which the self-catering cottages are set, is just off a green-lane which leads to miles of footpaths, bridleways and on and off-road cycling. Pets are welcome at our holiday cottages, please enquire upon booking. We have a plenty of space to store bicycles and for a premium, guests are welcome to bring their horses and make use of our Lodden stables. There are three excellent pubs surrounding the farm, all within a half hour stroll or a 3 minute car journey. The quaint and bustling market town of Petersfield is a 10 minute drive from the farm and alongside the two local village shops, these all provide a perfect base for stocking up on essential items. The larger, cathedral cities of Chichester, Guildford, Portsmouth and Winchester are all equally 45 minutes away, offering great shopping and entertainment. We are so lucky to be within an hour’s drive from one of the premier Blue Flag beaches in the country, West Wittering. West Wittering is a beautiful place to visit, whatever the season, and can be enjoyed by all ages. During the low season (October to April), horse riding is permitted at any time during the day on West Wittering and the summer months offer horseriding before 9am and after 6pm. Hayling Island, a shingle beach (with funfair for the children!) is half an hour from Downlands Farm. Rose Cottage offers light and airy accommodation with two ground floor bedrooms and a playroom/bedroom upstairs. After stowing muddy wellies in the under-cover porch, you will walk into our bright, well equipped kitchen / dining / sitting room. Stretching the entire width of the barn, this large room opens out through French windows onto your own private terrace and garden complete with garden tables and chairs. A television with BT Vision and Netflix will keep you entertained on those horrible rainy days. It goes without saying that guests have use of free Wifi. A utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer leads off from the kitchen which in turn leads to a well ventilated shower room. Two double bedrooms also lead off from the kitchen, the master bedroom having an ensuite bathroom with a large bathtub perfect for soaking after a long walk. Both bedrooms have televisions. Children will absolutely love their playroom at the top of the property. Accessed by stairs from the sitting room, children will have their own space to create chaos and noise. There is ample space up here to accommodate up to four additional people - two single beds and one double bed. There is no extra charge for use of a travel cot, stair gate and high chair as required. Please contact us for information and to discuss your requirements. Our change-over days are Fridays and Mondays and we welcome guests who wish to stay for a minimum of two nights up to a maximum of one month. Please note, Stable Cottage, Rose Cottage and Edward's Cottage are situated on a working farm and next door to horse stables. Whilst the interior of the properties is beautiful, we would like to make it clear that, at present, the exterior is still a work in progress. This does not detract from the overall glorious setting. • Have just returned from a fabulous 2 night stay in Venetia's beautiful Rose Cottage. Everything was perfect and everything had been thought of - the cottage was clean and bright with the most comfortable beds ever! Venetia had even left us a bottle of local white wine (in the wine chiller) and a pack of delicious cookies. We can't wait to return for another trip full of lovely walks, stunning views and perfect peace & quiet. Many thanks Venetia!

  • We had a lovely stay at Rose Cottage. Beautiful location and well thought out accommodation. This place is ideal for families. Lots of nice additions for kids. Thanks for a great stay. We only stayed for a couple of days for a wedding but it would have been nice to stay longer.

  • This is a lovely holiday home in beautiful part of rural Hampshire.

  • A great sized property, loved the kitchen, dining, living room areas that open straight out onto the patio. Def will be coming back.

    Nadia2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Rose Cottage for 4 nights with our daughter and son in law and 3 grandchildren. Everything about this place is perfect, including the location. I recommend The Trooper Inn for amazing food, and the Watercress rail line for a great day out. The "pub with no name "is well worth the walk. The property is lovely and the setting beautiful and peaceful. We will be back!

  • Stable Cottage is a lovely, secluded place to stay with top-notch facilities in the house. It really felt like a home away from home and was far nicer than staying in a stuffy hotel. Many thanks Valentia, you were a fantastic host - so easy and efficient to deal with.

Charming space overlooking garden and open farmland within the South Down National Park. Double bed with space for travelling cot if have young family or room for a dog bed if travelling with a dog. One well behaved dog allowed. En-suite toilet and shower with Neals Yard Organic products. Own lockable door with parking. Ideal place to stay for Goodwood, weddings at the Tythe Barn in the Petersfield and surrounding area, walking the South Downs Way and business meetings in Petersfield.
We are in the Harting Downs and have lots of leaflets suggesting walks and places to visit in the cabin. We are ideally placed for walking the Harting Downs and South Down Way. The views from Harting Downs are amazing. Also Butser Hill, the highest point on the South Downs Way in Queen Elizabeth Country Park is a great place to walk and the Visitor centre is about 6 miles drive away. If you want to explore market towns Petersfield is charming Petersfield is about 10 mins away which is a lovely market town with lots of pubs, eateries and shops. You can walk there across the fields from our the cabin too. And of course Chichester with it's famous Cathedral is close by too. We have a great village pub in South Harting called The White Hart which is walkable (2 miles) along country roads although probably a cab back! There is also about half an hour down the A3, Portsmouth GunWharf Quays and there is a park and ride for that which makes it easier. GunWharf is Designer outlet, lots of eateries on the Quay and also the great Spinnaker Tower.
  • Beautiful property with incredible hosts! We stayed last weekend and I can honestly say it was one of the most relaxing and restful breaks I can remember. We'll definitely be returning to stay again and explore the surrounding area further. The White Hart which is nearby is an absolute must for dinner. Huge thanks to Jo, Steve and Nora for making our stay very special for us and our puppy Beau, he had the time of his life in your lovely garden...

    Joe2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jo's place was exactly as described, in a beautiful location in the South Downs! She and her partner were extremely welcoming and hospitable, giving us plenty of information about the local area (where to eat, nice walks, etc). We were also very grateful for the station pick-up from Petersfield, as well as the yummy breakfast provided :). I'd highly recommend staying with Jo and Steve, and their lovely dog, Nora!

    Vicky2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • It's just great. The pics are accurate. Was a perfect 1-night break for us. Next time, I think we'd like to stay 2 nights because it's a great base for so many walks.

    Rupal2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay for one night at Jo's was too short for us. The place is wonderful and so is Jo. There are all kind of little details and presents for the guests in the place, it almost feels like Christmas! It is impeccably clean and Jo and her husband (and Nora the dog) are very nice people who make you feel at home. We are thinking of coming back for more time in the future!

    Xavi2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful stay in a quiet country setting.Excellent hospitality, Jo was so welcoming and we felt like our home.We have been provided with everything for a comfortable stay and we really looking forward to going back to watch the sunset from the cozy cottage as it is really beautiful.

    Bibin2017-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Jo's cabin for a couple of nights and everything was perfect. The location was stunning and the cabin provides everything you could possibly need! Jo was great to communicate with and made us feel very welcome on arrival. We would most definitely look to stay here again!

    Emily2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Jo's cabin. We had a wedding at the Tithe Barn and so it was a great location for us. We stayed with our 7 month old for two nights and there was plenty of room for the travel cot. Jo also left us lots of goodies including fresh milk, fruit tea and breakfast food, which were greatly appreciated! The cabin is very well equipped with everything you might possibly need including a a hair dryer and an iron. The views out of the back were lovely, and we watched a beautiful sunset on the sun loungers sipping a glass of prosecco after our baby went to sleep. Bliss!

    Ruth2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jo is a wonderfully friendly host. She greeted us warmly, made sure we had everything we needed, advised on the local area and was on hand if we needed anything. The cabin is beautiful & light and very well stocked. It really was a lovely place to stay & I would certainly return.

Betty is a converted 1960's Horse Lorry. She has been refurbished to a very high standard and provides the perfect accommodation for up to 2 people. Surrounded by countryside and boasting stunning views Betty is a great place to stay.
  • Betty is absolutely lovely and we loved our cosy stay here. It's perfect for a nice relaxing getaway by the fire out in the countryside. Unfortunately the kitchen tap was faulty and wouldn't fully turn off the first night but Jack kindly fixed it the following day while we were out. Would definitely recommend Betty for anyone wanting a cosy countryside getaway.

    Steve2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great getaway. When we arrived in the beginning of the evening, the truck was lighted by small Christmas lights. It was great a great welcoming. The gas was not working at first, so you have to be prepared to do a little bit of fiddling/maintenance. Everything is arranged very well though: it's clean and it has lots of appliances: oven, tv, bath, to name a few. The place is very spacious and Betty is located in a really nice area. We really liked our stay!

    Bas ( & Babette )2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Betty was a wonderful place to stay. We had some fantastic weather which allowed us to make full use of the outdoor facilities as well. Everything we needed was there. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was an amazing luxury in a field! We were very impressed by the wildlife seen from the decking and the location of Betty was well away from the other glamping sites which was great! I highly recommend this unique experience and hope to return!

    Samantha2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Betty is a wonderful place to stay. It's quirky, cosy and so peaceful. the bathroom feels luxurious and it has everything you need. The underfloor heating keeps it really warm too. The surrounding garden and decking have fantastic views. They also feel really private and secluded. I'm 6'3 and had plenty of room to spare in the comfortable double bed over the cab. The only thing that wasn't so good was the June weather! :)

    Chris2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place couldn't have been more happy with it. Very sucluded which is exactly what we were after

    Nick 2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation in a lovely rural location. Everything has been thought of including dressing gowns and warm ponchos. There was a plentiful supply of logs for the woodburner and the small kitchen has everything you could need in a small space. I would thoroughly recommend Betty as an excellent place from which to explore the local countryside - there are many lovely walks in the area as well as interesting National Trust properties for the rainier days!

    Elizabeth2017-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, and very quiet which is lovely for a mini escape. Nearby shops for food are about a 20min drive away. The heaters and fire keep you super warm even if it is cold outside.

  • Amazing time away in Betty, the ideal country retreat and she had everything you could ever need! I would definitely recommend it. The decking area has the most wonderful views and is so peaceful. We'll be back for sure!

Lovely space, comfortably furnished and newly decorated. It is perfectly located for Petersfield & the South Downs area. Great for weekend breaks, holiday, work, weddings, events, walking or cycling trips. Large, comfortably furnished room with adjoining shower room & wifi, it's totally private with beautiful views to surrounding countryside.
This stand alone room is separate to the main residence, with a private entrance. (Big enough to securely store two bikes in the entrance if necessary.) Towels / linen are provided. If you've forgotten something spare toiletries are available. Continental breakfast is available to your room, by request as an extra. Wifi, tea / coffee making facilities, bottled water & hair dryer are all provided, and an iron is available on request. If you've got a child with you it is possible, upon separate arrangement, to make use of the adjoining office space, which contains a single sofa bed or space for a travel cot, or there is room to make up a bed on a mattress in your room. The staircase makes this sadly unsuitable for wheelchair users, or those with impaired mobility.
This is a quiet and beautiful rural corner of the world, with easy access to Petersfield (mainline station), the South-Downs, Winchester, Chichester, Goodwood and so much more.
  • Very quiet and peaceful. Very clean throughout also a good few places to go out for dinner

The place was very clean and tidy and in the right location for us. Thanks for a great stay. If we are ever down in the area again we would love to stay here again.

  • The room was exactly as stated and very cosy and comfortable. Nicola and her husband were very committed to making our stay as nice as they could and gave us the space we needed. Would recommend to anyone and every.. thank you again Nicola

  • If you are looking for a high-end location in the amazing Hampshire Nicola's house is what you need. You can stay in a brand new detached house with all kind of comforts and high-quality staff. Easy to find, the property looks as traditional countryside style farm, but with 5 stars finished. Inside you can see two buildings: the main construction is Nicola's home and detached the guest room where upstairs there are a wide bedroom and a luxury restroom. At ground floor, there are two parking covered, in case you are driving a classic car. In fact, this place is a perfect location if you are going a trip for Goodwood racetrack events or to visit Rolls Royce factory. As cyclist enthusiast, I highly recommended this region because is hilly and quite, therefore, rich of spots for motivated riders.

My place is a detached house with private driveway, close to South Downs National Park. We are 20 min drive from Portsmouth and the historic ship yard or 30 min drive from Winchester with it's Cathedral and shopping, Guildford or Chichester and Goodwood. You’ll love my place because of it's homely and cosy. We are a friendly couple with loads of local knowledge and lots of ideas of where to eat, drink and visit. My place is good for couples, friends, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
Your room is on the ground flour with its own en suite shower, toilet and sink. There is plenty of space to hang your clothes and there is a dressing table for working at or doing your make up. The bathroom has a over mirror light with shaving socket both 110v and 240v. There is a radiator in the bedroom and towel rail in the bathroom both have there own controls for adjusting heat.
Liss is a small village with a few shops including a Tesco's Express, Boots and various independent shops. Petersfield is only 5 mins drive and is an old market town. It has a great selection of independent shops and a few chain stores. There is a weekly market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and a monthly Farmers Market on Sundays. Petersfield also hosts a variety of events throughout the year. There is a local pub within walking distance that offers home cooked food. Or if you are happy to jump in the car there are a huge choice of places to eat and drink. Very happy to recommend a few places. If you are in to walking, road biking or mountain biking we have direct access to some great trails. There is also a downhill mountain biking trail just down the road.
  • A great place to stay with plenty of space with local shops and places to eat.

  • I am very glad I chose to stay at Lynette's place instead of a local hotel, for a nearby wedding. I had a lovely downstairs twin room, very comfortable with characterful furnishings and a modern ensuite (excellent shower). All the useful things had been provided in the room, such as shampoo and an alarm clock as well as coffee and tea making facilities. Apart from excellent value for money, I enjoyed getting to know her and her family and left with a warm glow (and an unexpected wee breakfast - very kind) to offset the slight wedding hangover. Good people.

    Gavin2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed about 3 weeks at Lynette's house in a cozy en-suite room with two bed and all amenities. The house is in a very quiet area with parking, all facilities located only 5 minutes by car. Also I have to notice that the family was fully helpful concerning information I asked and very discreet during accommodation. I want personally to thank Lynette and her amazing family. Be well guys.

    Vasilis2016-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • I can recommend this place to everyone. The area is very beautiful and the room is clean and nice. Also, and most importantly, Lynette and Adrian are the nicest people. They are so kind and very helpful! We very much enjoyed our stay.

The barn has everything you need - breakfast, hairdryer, towels etc. Absolutely brilliant. We went on a few short walks and there are a couple of pleasant pubs and restaurants close by (walking distance) although it's nice to sit in the garden and enjoy the surroundings. We were incredibly lucky with the weather but I'm sure it'd still be fantastic even in the cooler months! Thanks again, Soph x

  • My experience with Debora was so unexpected, she was the perfect person to take her place. She helped me alot to know the closes places to her place and even she gave me a ride to that places to make sure that I knew them. In addition , she is so kind and amazing. Imangine that she provided me with games of her children to let me spend good time, I highly recommending her and her place. The place is so clean and well organised, the bathroom is a bit tight but that is not a problem at all. Do not rethink of having her place, absolutely you will enjoy staying in her place. Regards, Fahad from Saudi Arabia

  • We arrived late at the property and was met by her daughter - Debora let me know beforehand that was happening. She showed us all the facilities etc before letting us settle in. We stayed there overnight and Debora kindly provided us with tea/coffee facilities and cereal/muesli for a light breakfast. We had an early start and left early next morning. The room/bed was comfortable and had all the amenities you would need.

    Chris2016-06-04T00:00:00Z

  • I hope this is posted as I have had difficulties in the past with leaving positive AirBnB reviews! This was a great place to stay in a perfect location. The hostess was quick to respond to messages, even phoning from abroad, and left a lovely welcome pack. I would recommend heading to the local pub on the corner and enjoying one of the fresh oven cooked pizzas- delicious!

There are two Pubs, gourmet food at the Olde Ye George next to us and the second pub is the Izaak which boasts good value food and real ales.
  • Wendy and Ron were great hosts. The directions were spot on as the location could be a little difficult to find. The house is great and my room was very nice, simply and stylishly decorated with some of Wendy's artwork in the wall. The pub next door serves great food. It is a quiet place and there was no noise at all. I look forward to a return visit.

  • My wife and I stayed at Wendy and Ron's place for one night while we were walking South Downs way. They were great hosts and made us feel very welcome in their house. We had a tea together and had a nice chat to get to know each other on arrival, which was very welcoming and get to discuss all the info needed (where to have dinner, shop location etc). In the morning they served us very nice breakfast to keep us going on a walk. They are building their house themselves and though work is still ongoing it feels homely and it's very clean and warm. We had very pleasant and comfortable stay,

  • Lovely lovely stay in East Meon. Wendy and Ron were divine hosts- very calm and welcoming, offering great hospitality after a days walk. The room was clean, stylish and comfortable with a killer shower and a great price for such comfort. The house is a self build modern building which is really interesting. Breakfast was tasty and the airbnb is next door to a good pub for dinner. All in all a fantastic stay which is perfect for walkers on the South Downs Way. Thanks Wendy and Ron!

  • Wendy and Ron are absolutely brilliant hosts. They have achieved a very high standard in their rooms and their hospitality is outstanding. The pub next door serves good food, if a little on the pricey side, but it has a nice atmosphere and is so close to the house you wont need a coat even if its raining! We will definitely be returning. Huge thanks to Wendy & Ron for a peaceful and relaxing stay.

The house is a passion self-build (not quite finished but this doesn't detract in the least from your stay). A perfect 40 paces (Wendy has counted!) from the local pub/restaurant which serves excellent food. The village is picture perfect English countryside and worth a wander too. We loved the very comfy bed, spacious room and quiet at night. Breakfast cereals and toast with the view of their wonderful garden. We were going to the boat show in Southampton which is about an hour away - well worth the drive to stay somewhere so pretty and quiet rather than inflated prices for noisy Southampton.

  • Everything has already been said about this lovely place to come and stay. We only came for one night but would recommend a longer stay to anyone wishing to explore the area further. Lovely personal touches and a very welcoming couple of hosts. Excellent cake upon arrival and easily top end range of accommodation - such good value for money = hope they do not put their prices up before we come again!!!

  • A must. Anyone coming to this stunning area of England, needs to experience the tranquillity and fabulous hosting by Robin and Roessa. The breakfasts alone are worth the trip but to sit in a beautiful English garden, with birdsong and sunshine - it what trips away are all about. This is why Airbnb offers something different, personal and special. When can we come back?! Lovely place, lovely people, lovely food, lovely everything. THANK YOU

    Claire2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • A secluded spot where you can get away from it all! But not so far away as to be inconvenient for the more modern of us!

    Brian2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely wonderful place surrounded by lovely walks and area. The Bothy is beautiful in lots of ways and maintained by lovely people, it truly is what AirBnb is all about.

    Adam2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Book a stay at The Bothy! Roessa is a wonderful host and made us feel more like friends coming to stay, rather than paying guests. The Bothy itself is a homely lodge next to the main house, with a large modern bathroom and bedroom with bed, sofa, television, wifi and tea & coffee facilities. (My wife wants to add that there were the fluffiest towels she's ever encountered too!) Roessa made us delicious breakfasts which were much better than we expected (including fresh fruit, homemade granola, local honey, croissants and jams, and a full English!), and her family (including the dogs) were all very welcoming! We also had some car trouble and the family were extremely helpful and understanding. The area is quiet and good for country walks. Winchester Hill is only a few minutes drive away and a worthwhile visit. Winchester city is also only 20 minutes away. We had a wonderful stay at the Bothy, and Roessa far exceeded our expectations as an Airbnb host. I can't recommend staying here enough!

    Justin2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy ticks all the boxes for an extremely comfortable overnight stay. It offers complete privacy, but with the added benefit of being made to feel part of the family in the main house next door should you need to. In our case we had bought a dine-in meal for 2 and Roessa was very happy for us to use the main house kitchen to heat it up. It was our first experience using Airbnb and a very positive one. Roessa and Robin are superbly attentive hosts. The breakfast was also delicious and beautifully presented.

    Ginny2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a lovely countryside escape then this is the perfect place. The bothy is a really gorgeous place in a lovely scenic setting which is super relaxing. Roessa would such a lovely host and was very accommodating and helpful throughout and really made us feel welcome. We loved the home made flapjacks, the dogs and yummy breakfast served in the garden and the morning yoga session was an ideal start to the day. We can't wait to come and stay again!

    Nicola2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • I want to move in! The Bothy is beautifully and tastefully decorated to a gorgeous and very high quality. For someone wanting a quiet break in the country, the place is idyllic. For someone wanting a lively time, Petersfield is just down the road. I wanted both and I got both in abundance. There are also some lovely local pubs for food and the countryside is exquisite.

  • Just back from a lovely weekend in the shepards hut, was so lovely to get away to some where so pretty and peaceful. The hut has been done up to a great standard! There is every thing you need, we really enjoyed sitting outside next to the fire pit in the evening! Many thanks Justin and Sorcha, great hosts and was lovely to come back to our breakfast hamper ready for the morning.

  • Can't recommend staying here at the barn enough. It felt secluded and comfy- and the wonderful little treats in the bathroom, the homemade rocky road and bread, and the sausage breakfast sarnie were all above and beyond what we expected. Cathy even offered us a lift from the station and couldn't have been more welcoming or a better host. The barn was a lovely stay, so clean and well equipped, and the view of sundown over the hills from the window really was breathtaking. Thank you Cathy!

  • Catherine was very prompt replying to queries and providing directions. The location is very beautiful and quiet. The breakfasts were delicious and the choice was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is secluded and quiet yet close to the the nearest town and an ideal location for exploring the area. We will certainly book again if in the area.

  • This place is set in the most lovely peaceful location. We wanted some countryside and this did not disappoint. The room itself is a great size for two, very comfortable and warm. And the little touches of warm bread, cakes and breakfast in the morning really made it. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend. Thank you Catherine and Mark :)

  • We stayed in this hidden gem for 3 nights following the Butser Beltane festival, and I can honestly say that this is the nicest, homeliest and simply best value-for-money B&B we've stayed in! Cathy is a very accommodating and friendly hostess who has clearly put her heart in to the accommodation, offering a beautiful range of home-cooked breakfasts every morning alongside freshly baked bread and goodies upon arrival, alongside a well-stocked fridge. I would happily stay again if we were in the area, and can highly recommend a stay if you’re looking for a relaxing break!

  • Cindy was an absolutely fantastic host! My husband & I spent a weekend at her place and we'd definitely recommend her to anyone, and would of course visit again ourselves! The house is a lovely brick house which is very well kept & decorated quite nicely throughout, esp. with lots of painted pottery (one of Cindy's hobbies). It's located at the very end of a 'close' i.e. dead end road. Look for a small wooden gate at the very far end (we almost missed it). We booked a weekend (Fri + Sat nights) with her to attend the 50th Jalsa Salana, an annual convention hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community near Alton. We were expecting to arrive quite late on Fri & kept Cindy updated via texts, to which she promptly replied each time. Even though our arrival was very late (close to midnight), Cindy stayed up & warmly welcomed us both & even offered a drink which we gladly accepted (she makes great tea) :). Stayed up with us for well into the night to give us excellent company. She is very easy + fun to get along with & chat to. Cindy offered cooked breakfast each evening for the next day, but because of us sleeping late & rushing off early, we politely declined each day. Both evenings (Fri + Sat) we returned quite late, close to midnight, but Cindy kept us company without any 'rush' to go to bed and each time offered refreshments (tea's always good anytime :D). She never complained or let us feel it was an issue that we couldn't give her fixed times when we'll return at night. On the Sat evening, we asked Cindy if she'd let us stay an extra day (Sun night) so we could tour the countryside on Monday, a day after our convention ended. Bear in mind this was on Sat night & we were supposed to check out the next day, so we didn't quite know how to 'word it' so that she didn't feel forced into accepting, but she was very understanding and assured us it wasn't a problem at all. The next day we all had breakfast together & Cindy then took us on a lovely walk through the countryside, then to a few local places for sightseeing, then bid us farewell and we went on our way. All in all, a very memorable trip not the least because of an excellent host & nice, clean accommodation.

    Adila2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • our stay with Cindy was unforgettable. Cindy took her time to give us a warm welcome and we had a really fun and inspiring conversation in the evening. Her house and guest room are clean and cosy and overall we just feeled very welcome. We only had the time to stay one night, but if we return again to this Area, we surely try to stay at hers.

    erica2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy was a great host and her place was very comfortable. Breakfast was awesome. The only downside is that there are no pubs or restaurants within easy walking distance - not a problem as long as you plan for it. Nice pub a few miles away.

  • Cindy is a most wondeful host! Very friendly, lots of humor, knowledgeable about many things and totally relaxed. Her house is at a very calm location in beautiful surroundings. And Scrumpy the dog is just amazing :-)) Definitely a place to recommend!

The Turkey House is located on a working farm in the beautiful Hampshire countryside but just 5 minutes drive from the market town of Petersfield . You’ll love the rural location with walks from the front door, the ambiance, and the outdoors space. Ideal for families, groups of up to 7 people, business travellers passing through, walkers and furry friends (dogs!) are very welcome!
The Turkey House is a self-contained semi-detached 3 bedroom house located under the beautiful Hampshire Hangers. The owners retain a flat at the back of the house along with their farm office but this has a completely separate entrance. The living accommodation comprises of a beamed farmhouse kitchen with 4 oven AGA and a combination oven/microwave. The sitting room is again beamed with large feature fireplace, Smart TV and DVD player plus ample seating for guests. The large hall/dining area has oak table, chairs and a dresser. There is a downstairs WC. Upstairs is the spacious master bedroom with king size bed and an additional single bed. The second bedroom has twin beds and the third, a 4 ft 6 inch double bed. A travel cot for infants and high chair are available in the property. There is a newly tiled master bathroom upstairs with Victorian style roll top bath and handheld shower attachment. There is a separate utility room for dirty welly boots and washing machine and tumble dryer. The front door opens onto a patio and turfed garden. Whilst fenced with gateway out to drive, the fencing is not secure for determined dogs! There is parking for one car by the back door and further parking is available in the farmyard.
Steep is a charming village, located a couple of miles west of Petersfield. Situated under the beautiful Hampshire Hangers, the cottage is perfectly situated for walking and cycling. The Hanger's Way, Shipwrights' Way and South Down's Way are all nearby. Steep has 2 pubs - the renowned (spit and sawdust!) Harrow Inn with it's hearty ploughman's and pea and ham soup - and the Cricketers' Inn, a gastro pub with a pizza oven! The nearby market town of Petersfield offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, cafes and a library. Day trips out include Portsmouth with it's Historical Dockyard including HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose, and Gunwharf, where there's a multitude of restaurants, bars, a cinema and bowling, all overlooking the harbour. Also within an easy drive is Goodwood with its motor events - the Festival of Speed and Revival - and horseracing meetings including Glorious Goodwood. To the west is the cathedral city of Winchester and Jane Austen's house at Chawton. For the children there is Marwell Zoo and Paulton's Park - about a 45 minute drive away.
  • We had a lovely Easter break at the Turkey Farm. The house is spacious and the garden was great for toddlers to play in and spot the cows in the next field from. Even more animals were just a short walk away! Our hosts were really helpful suggesting things to do in the local area, and very quick to respond to our questions. We would highly recommend a holiday here.

    Nicola2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Turkey House is the perfect rural, secluded, hideaway. It exceeds the description on all counts. If you have not experienced the warmth of an AGA in the kitchen then you will not forget this one. Take it form soemone who once lived with a coal fired ESSE. What stood out was the little personal touches the host had left, a bottle of milk in the fridge for tea and coffee, cake and fresh cut flowers. Care had obviously also been taken in the room preparation with towels neatly presented/folded and soap dispenser full to the brim. All the questions I had was promptly and helpfully answered via e-mail. A note of caution though, you should not rely on your mobile phone to act as a car navigator... Hampshire is notorious for its poor mobile coverage! The only thing missing from a perfect "10" would be the inclusion of a resident Black Labrador.

    Christian2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We are a family of 7 and the Turkey House accommodated us just fine. It is a lovely cottage with a nice yard, secluded and quiet, yet only a 5 minute drive from stores or restaurants. The host is beyond friendly and helpful with anything you may need or ask information about. There are fields around the cottage, housing sheep and horses, and there are trails that let you explore the woods and reward you with amazing views if you follow them to the top of the hills. We all would love to come back.

    tanja2017-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • We recently stayed at the Turkey House for a two-family staycation outside of London. The house is located in a very rural and peaceful area that is in the heart of the South Downs and a launch point for numerous walks and other attractions. There are also a number of fantastic pubs nearby such as the Cumberland Arms and the Halfway Bridge. My 2 year old loved seeing the animals on the farm (including the turkeys living at the end of the garden) and running around in the grass garden. The bedrooms were a good size and quiet despite the animals and also pitch black for a good night sleep. The living space was very comfortable with a large table for family dinners and the Aga with a supporting electric hob were perfect for cooking most meals with instructions on how to make best use of the Aga. We would definitely stay here again!

    Aaron 2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived quite late and found the key to get in. Didn't see Alexandra and lots of leaflets and map and useful general information in the house. I assume it was the farm workers who live next door came round when needed. The house is great with large rooms and well equipped kitchen and laundry room. Large dining table and very comfy sofas in sitting room. The turkey barn is quite close and although didn't disturb us you can definitely hear them. Great walks from the doorstep and pubs nearby.

    Rob2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The booking arrangements with host were excellent and we were made very welcome. Lots of comfortable space for just myself and my daughter - more than we really needed of course. Lovely quiet location on the downs with the town of Petersfield just a few minutes drive away. I'd recommend it for a larger family group, and if you'd like a farm location.

  • My girlfriend and I were looking for a quiet countryside retreat to celebrate our anniversary and that is exactly what we found. I had plenty of questions for Anne during the run up to the trip which she answered, helping me book a restaurant and get a feel for what there was to do around the area. She was extremely warm when we arrived, and had even bought us some milk so we could have some tea (or coffee as there was some too!) The room is a great space and is immaculately kept. It has everything you need, and feels even more special being totally detached from Anne's lovely main house. Would highly recommend!

  • Orchard Studio is located in a delightful part of Hampshire and the South Downs National Park. We were only staying one night to attend a friend's wedding at the Old Thorns hotel. Anne was very helpful and quick to reply with local taxi numbers that we used to get too/from the hotel. The studio is delightful, nestled above a wood panelled building a stones throw from the main house. The Velux black out blinds are so good, that 930am felt like the middle of the night. Do set an alarm if you need! I have no hesitation in recommending Anne's accommodation to other guests.

Hambledon Cottage is well situated within the South Downs National Park. One double and two single beds with open views. Goodwood (Racing), Midhurst (Polo), Chichester (theatre), South Downs Way (walking / mountain biking) are all within easy reach.
The bedroom is a double aspect room with far reaching southerly views towards the South Downs and also views out to the east over fields. Tawny owls can be heard at night and deer, woodpeckers, red kites and foxes can often be seen from the cottage. We have 2 hens, a guinea pig and a dog. The area is quiet and peaceful.
    Peaceful, quiet and rural.
  • Great stay with Diana and Tom, house was beautiful in such a quiet charming part of the country. We were attending a wedding down the road at Southdowns manor and it was perfect as was so close. Amazing breakfast with accompanying piano concerto. Great hosts very helpful and pleasure to talk to.

    Nikki2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • I like to thank Tom and you for making my recent stay at your lovely house very pleasant. The room was very well designed, well lit and had beautiful views of the nearby woods. The bed was comfortable and the amenities in the bathroom were as per international standards. I enjoyed the breakfast and our conversations. I also appreciated your leaving the front door open at night to allow me to enter the house late in the evening. The only areas of improvement I would suggest is to have the room cleaned and the bed made during one's stay and perhaps have a small cupboard or a coat hook to hang clothes. I strongly recommend your house to anyone visiting the area.

  • Absolutely fantastic place! Beautiful house in a stunning countryside setting. Our accommodation was of the highest standard in all respects. We had a really excellent breakfast and our hosts were friendly and great company. i could not recommend this AirBnB more highly.

  • We had a wonderful stay with Diana. The location, house and room were stunning (even better than we imagined from the lovely pictures), and we were made to feel so welcome by Diana and family. Everything a B&B might offer was covered (immaculate and spacious room and bathroom, comfy bed, peaceful, lovely breakfast) along with some lovely extra touches like fresh milk for morning tea in the room, a wondefully fragrant fresh magnolia flower and a view of the South Downs you could never tire of. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here, and hope to return if we're back in the area again.

  • We made a last-minute decision on a Friday to spend as much of the weekend as possible at the Civvitaveka Buddhist monastery near Chithurst, and we needed somewhere close by to stay. We were amazed at the speed at which Diana responded, and confirmed that their bedroom was available. We could not have made a better choice: Tom and Diana are warm and attentive hosts, and we have left their home and their lovely family feeling as though we have stayed with friends. It has been a hugely positive first experience of AirBnB. The only issue is the almost 15% mark-up charged by AirBnB which make the outlay considerably more than the listed price, but we realise AirBnB are not running a charity.

  • Diana and Tom are warm and generous hosts with a lovely home! We enjoyed staying here during our walking trip through the South Downs. The room was comfortable, clean and has great views of the hills. Great breakfast, too!

  • Fabulous stay, Diana and Tom were brilliant hosts and made us feel very welcome. Shame we were only there for such a short time but very highly recommended.

Lovely private open plan lodge in glorious surroundings beneath the South Downs. It is light, airy and very peaceful with stunning views and a private outside seating area. A footpath leads straight from the garden to the South Downs Way and exceptional walking/cycling. There is a celebrated pub, The Three Horseshoes, within walking distance serving great food and local beers. Goodwood (motor and horse racing) is 13 miles and Midhurst (Cowdray polo) is 6.5 miles.
Open plan with a separate bathroom. Well kitted out kitchen. Microwave, fan oven, fridge/freezer, n'espresso machine, toaster, dish washer. Breakfast is provided for self serve. The accommodation comprises a double bed and a bunk bed (see below) making room for 2 adults and 2 children, or for 4 adults (if you find the bunk measurements appropriate). King sized bed 5' (153 cm) with memory foam mattress. Bunk bed measuring 6'3 (190cm) X 3' (92 cm) I also have a travel cot should you need. Gorgeous wood burning stove. There is a safe.
Elsted lies in a pocket of beautiful countryside that winds beneath the stunning South Downs. The pretty Anglican parish church shows rare remnants of Norman herringbone construction and a small and un-powered 13th century shepherds' church lies a mile down the winding lane. The Three Horseshoes is a wonderful pub, minutes from the lodge by foot and has been an Inn for some 400 years. The Farm setting boasts big skies and often wonderful displays of stars at night. The pretty Market towns of Petersfield and Midhurst lie 10 minute equidistant. Chichester, with its medieval cathedral, Fishbourne Roman Palace, world famous Festival Theatre, art galleries and restaurants are 12 miles to the south. Good wood racecourse (one of the most idyllic race course settings in the world) and motor circuit is well worth a visit. Just beyond is the fab beach at West Wittering.
  • The pictures really don't do it justice. Thank you Jess for the perfect weekend. The place is absolutely beautiful. So much love and care has gone into this place to make sure the guests have a relaxing and enjoyable time. Super comfortable bed, super clean, beautiful location, privacy, peace and quiet. A real hidden gem. Can't wait to go back.

    Ariane2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and very comfortable place in a fabulous location. Jess a great host who considers everything from fresh fruit to breakfast provisions, wood burning stove and other comforts. No wifi but that no bad thing in the countryside! Made for a great weekend so many thanks - again.

    didier2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my wife spend the bank holiday weekend with our 3 months old son at Jess' place and absolutely loved everything about our stay. Some notable highlights: - calm and zen like quality of the place - walking and easy access to nature trails - Jess' home made bread and breakfast ingredients - A fruit bowl with some of the best apples we have ever had - Jess' attention to accommodate allergies - Jess herself as the perfect hostess - the great pubs in the area - the decoration of the place and comfort of the bed We will definitely come back.

    Deniz2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Truly delightful setting and delightful host, Jess. Everything about our stay was beautiful - the location, the lodge interior, the lodge grounds, the view (wow, that view!). The pictures really don't do the place justice. Jess's place is outstanding. And she has great taste and attention to detail. We were so pampered, we didn't want to leave. And when we had to make our way home, we had found a wonderful friend. I would recommend this place to anyone seeking a beautiful, peaceful retreat. We will be visiting again very soon.

  • Cindy is a fantastic host and extremely friendly. I was running late but she kept in contact and reassured me all the way. When I finally got there at 12 midnight I was greeted with a beautiful smile and warm welcome. I felt I had known Cindy all my life and would stay at her place anytime. Beautiful comfortable and extremely clean house and bedroom. I would strongly suggest that everyone book in with Cindy. You will not regret it. Thank you Cindy

  • Cindy had a very nice house. Quiet and secluded. For overnight stays only.

    Sinclair2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • I came to stay for one night to attend a wedding and was taken back by how helpful Cindy was. As she offered to drive me to the venue considering it had started to rain. Cindy had made me feel very welcome throughout my whole stay and I would say without a doubt, that she went above and beyond what I had expected from a host on Airbnb.

Our holiday homes are a wonderful base for families and large groups wishing to explore the beautiful South Downs National Park.
Our holiday homes, Stable Cottage, Edward's Cottage and Rose Cottage, are set in the heart of the beautiful Hampshire countryside with wonderful views across a peaceful valley. They are a rural haven for visitors but only 10 minutes from Petersfield, with fantastic road and rail connections for London and Portsmouth. This description is for Stable Cottage. Please see our other advert for photos and description of Rose Cottage and Edward's Cottage. Pets are welcome at Stable Cottage, please enquire upon booking. Stable Cottage offers light and airy accommodation with two ground floor bedrooms and a huge playroom/bedroom upstairs. Our change-over days are Fridays and Mondays and we welcome guests who wish to stay for a minimum of three nights up to a maximum of one month. The property particulars may change without prior notice and the owners are not liable for any inaccuracies in the property's description on our website or through media/advertising sources. • A Modern Facilitated, Clean and Spacious Barn Conversion in exceptionally peaceful and beautiful Countryside. Great Communication from Venetia pre-arrival; as well as lovely little touches for the Children within the accommodation having a selection of fun games and Giant Beanbags; which were a firm favourite. The view and subsequent sunset from the South facing garden was beautiful. Our Group comprised 8 adults and 2 children and I can honestly say that it didn't feel a squeeze at anytime.

    David2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a weekend in July, and truly wished it could have been longer. Certainly there's more than enough for long weekends here, and longer! The local area is beautiful, with loads of things to see and do, and not far from some lovely villages, towns, and even the seaside. As for the property, absolutely superb, with stunning views over the rolling countryside to the rear - great way to spend an evening watching the sun set with a glass of wine sat outside on the patio - tranquil, and quiet. The beds were really comfy, and bedrooms themselves very generously sized. The bathrooms were spotless and of a very high quality. The utility room is a really handy addition to carry out some cleaning should you need. As for the kitchen and diner, excellent. Everything built in, and a great social space for cooking, eating, chatting, really wonderful. The lounge is also a cosy place to settle down reading a book or watching the TV. We cant rate this place highly enough. We were questioning each other on the journey home what could be improved, and we honestly couldn't really think of anything. For a 60th family birthday get together, this well and truly exceeded everyones expectations, and made for a wonderful weekend. Thanks the Venetia for your excellent property and hosting - we really appreciate everything.

    Chris2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Place just as described. Amazing views over the quiet hills, lovely big open plan room going onto garden, kids loved running in and out. Guests in one other cottage only, and we were the noisy ones so as venetia describes be prepared you may overlao with some neighbours but onlu see/here them in the garden. Great walking straight from the door and lovely nearby pubs, very rural but obly 10 mins to Petersfield for supplies. Rooms all spacious, top room fine for kids and an adult but not much natural light so more adults may find it a bit dark. Would love to come again.

    Alison2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • These cottages make for a fabulous base from which to explore the south downs. Six adults and a toddler stayed here very comfortably and the amenities within the cottage are great (washing machine, loads of towels, Netflix, cooking facilities, games). Such a peaceful location in idyllic surroundings, take good walking shoes :)

    Kelly2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful relaxing week at Venetia's place. It was ideal for our group of two families with small children - lots of room for the kids to run around and plenty of places for local days out. The cottage was spotless and exactly as shown. Kitchen was wonderfully well equipped for those of us who like to cook and we also enjoyed the BBQ. Would have loved to stay longer!

    Emma2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very well furnished house/ barn conversion in a scenic location. Host was informative and provided us with everything we needed including a bottle of wine! Which was a lovely touch. Only warning I would give is that you would need to have a car if staying here.

  • A stay at this cottage was the perfect bank holiday weekend away with friends for a relaxing and fun time. The cottage is fully equipped with essentials that are needed! The information in the welcome pack was a brilliant way to find out about the local area.

Appleberry cottage, set in the heart of the iconic village of East Meon, is a traditional character property updated to provide modern facilities. Jayne and George look forward to welcoming you.
The bedroom is in the original part of the cottage (dates from 1800s) which has been thoroughly renovated yet retains its period character.
East Meon has a unique setting in the South Downs and is an excellent centre for exploring the National Park. East Meon has 2 popular public houses and a village shop.
  • Lovely cosy home. We had a great stay with great hosts.

  • Jayne's B&B is a real gem. It was more than we could have hoped for in comfort and hospitality. The room was spotless, very comfortable and well appointed with added extras, like toiletries and coffee making facilities. Having a private lounge gave extra space and a relaxing ambience. Jayne and George were exceedingly welcoming and helpful. We can't recommend them as hosts highly enough!

  • Everything wonderful: the house, the private rooms, the value, the village and especially Jayne & George. Cannot exaggerate how good our stay was, and would certainly return.

    Edward2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jayne's place is beautiful - a charming period room with really luxurious towels and bed linen :) The en-suite is great and there is even a sitting room for our private use! Brilliant for perusing the many maps/walking books Jayne has, or for relaxing in front of the tv. I was lucky enough to meet both Jayne and George and had really interesting chats with them. They were extremely accommodating even when my plans for arrival changed at the last minute. Thanks so much Jayne - I would love to stay again when I come back to the area.

My place is an independent annexe to The Old Vicarage, close to Bedales School, next door to All Saints Church and a stone's throw from the famous Harrow Pub and Steep Tennis and Cricket club. It is also walking distance from Petersfield town centre . Its cosy but self-contained. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families with one child.
The Wendy House is a separate, self-contained annexe at The Old Vicarage; it used to be the Parish Rooms until the Church of England sold off the property in 1993. Now its a light, bright, modern feeling space which is compact but has everything you might need for your stay whether going out or staying in. Please notify me when you book if you require bed linen for the sofa bed.

  • We had a fantastic stay at the Wendy House, and it was perfect for a weekend getaway. The surrounding area was great - beautiful countryside for hiking and cycling, and we enjoyed our trip to the nearby Harrow Inn (they don't take cards, so don't forget to bring cash). Check in and out was a breeze and Philippa was very helpful, finding us somewhere to store our bikes. The apartment itself was clean and cosy and the small kitchen meant we could cook meals in too.

    Caroline2017-05-29T00:00:00Z

The accommodation had everything we needed and was very clean and well thought out. Host was great with info and responsive to any query. There's also some fantastic cycling close by, especially if you like the hills! Would stay again.

This doesn't feel even faintly like a rental property. My family, girlfriend and I sometimes use it ourselves when other people are not doing so. It has the virtues and defects of a real, lived-in, place. It is full of our books, games, cooking equipment and supplies etc. The cottage is situated in the middle of a 190-acre organic farm on the South Downs, which you are welcome to explore. It is close to Chichester Festival Theatre, Cowdray Park polo, Goodwood, Petworth Park, and HMS Victory.
Billy’s has been recently renovated, but without spoiling it. It is a semi-detached cottage joined to another cottage available for rent. This is now a house more aimed at grown-ups than at families with small children. It has antique rugs, old wooden floors and pretty furniture. The kitchen is furnished with old pine cupboards, shelves and tables (not a fitted unit in sight!) and an old fashioned sink with brass taps. There is however a modern 'fridge, freezer and cooker. If you feel brave, there is an old wood-fired Rayburn cooker which can be lit - but it is more use in heating up the room, than at cooking anything! It is more like an open fireplace with a door. The south-facing sitting room in Billy's has little leather chairs and some other antique furniture, a card table & some occasional tables. The sitting room opens directly onto the garden (which is shared by both cottages), and has magnificent views to the Downs. The garden is large, bounded by old hedges , and is mainly laid down to grass. If you want to escape, there is the rest of the farm! The bathroom (which is downstairs, and opens off the kitchen via a useful lobby for hanging coats and putting muddy boots in), contains basin, bath and W.C. It has a fan heater, but can be chilly in winter. The stairs run up the middle of the houses (between the kitchen and sitting room) and are quite steep ; so please be careful. The south bedroom in Billy's has a double bed, bedside tables, a large wardrobe, and a little dressing table. It has a dormer window, looking south at the Downs (you will probably see deer most mornings). In a cupboard, there is a basin & mirror and razor socket. There is a decorative fire place, which you can not use. The north bedroom in has a huge (6ft wide) double bed. There is a basin & mirror and razor socket in a cupboard, a (decorative) fireplace, and an ancient leather trunk, which is used as a table..
It is close to Chichester Festival Theatre, Cowdray Park polo, Goodwood, Petworth Park, and HMS Victory.

My place is about half an hour to Goodwood, Portsmouth, Winchester and Chichester. Midhurst (polo), and the lovely market town of Petersfield are all close by. You’ll love my place because of the beautiful outlook, garden and quiet country location. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. Our house benefits from biomass heating ensuring plenty of hot water and is certified as being carbon neutral. Breakfast is either muesli, yogurt and fruit or scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toasted muffins. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements. Parking is in our private drive.

  • We cannot recommend this more highly. A beautiful and tastefully modernised house, full of character. Relaxed atmosphere, we were made to feel completely at home. Our room and en suite were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We met the chickens in the morning who provided our delicious breakfast. Lovely rural view from our room. We have stayed at many B&B's and this is top of the list.

  • We had a fantastic weekend at Sarah's place and were made to feel like being in a friend's house. The room is wonderfully clean & comfortable, there is an adjoining lounge with views across the field and a very tasty breakfast served outside. There are easily accessible walks (and country pubs) in the area, all a manageable train ride from London. Sarah was very accommodating with lifts and advice. Would definitely recommend.

Personal highlights included: meeting the chickens in the garden (and the breakfast they provided), playing with the dog and the eternally hot shower. Would definitely recommend!

  • We felt very comfortable and welcome. Sarah cooked quiche for us and we had a delicious dinner with her and her husband. We talked much and shared many interesting details about our countries! Our room and bathroom were very clean. A beautiful garden and the cute and cuddly little Jack Russel Tiggy made our stay complete!
