Places to stay in Pontfadog
The Glade is a basic camping pod with double bed, sofa, fire pit and veranda in woodland high above the town of Llangollen with stunning views down the valley and across to the Castle. A quiet space to sit, watch nature and rest your legs at the end of the day. If drinking and loud music is your thing this may not be the place for you. The Hut is a steep 50m walk away from your car, so don't pack too much, you need to bring your own duvet/sleeping bags , we provide a bottom sheet and pillows.
The walk to the Glade is only to be undertaken by the hardiest of souls, it is STEEP, but once there, the solitude and views make up for it in every sense, the toilet block is a very strenuous 100 m away, so don't forget your tooth brush. You'll need a torch, good shoes and a camera It's quite likely you'll be joined by our Buzzards who regularly circle feet away from the Glade and if you sit still the rabbits and pheasants will undoubtedly come to join you. The Glade is shaded from the sun in the morning and insulated so you'll get to lie in without getting too warm or too cold. There is a fire pit, with an infinite supply of kindly. There are a number of piles of dead wood to use in the woodland, but we advise you buy a bag of logs from the hardware store in town, as you never quite know what the weather will be like in Wales and the wood may be wet! We have a toilet/shower block about 100 m away down the hill , with the centre of town only being a 7 min walk. If you don't have a vehicle and CAN'T bring your own duvet, let us know well in advance and we'll provide one for you.

  • A lovely night away. I thought the hill was going to be a lot worse than what it was! The hut is very clean and it was perfect just to getaway for a while and sit in front of the camp fire. Aldi is just down the bottom of the hill which is brilliant for convenience! We ordered a pizza, collected it and ate it by the fire. We arrived on the motorbike and the parking was very easy. Thank you to the hosts!

  • Beautiful place to wake up to! What a view! Exactly how it’s described so wear walking boots! Cold but super cosy once your in bed!

  • The Glade was what it said on the tin really. A clean little hut with a beautiful view. We were unfortunate that we had awful weather so didn’t get to explore as much as we would’ve liked (obviously couldn’t have been helped) but the small walk we did go on was lovely. Be aware that when it’s raining it steep slopes to get to the hut is extremely slippery and you will have to go down and up these slopes to go to the toilet/shower block.

  • We stopped off here on the way to a sponsored hike of Snowdon. Great for purpose and amenities were sufficient and well thought out. The icing on the cake was Janet was very accommodating of our request of allowing 3 dogs and there was no breed specific prejudice which was an absolute blessing. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

  • The Glade is the perfect place for a quick escape from reality. The hut was comfortable, clean and easy to find. Would definitely return!

    Emily2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had an enjoyable and hassle free stay at the Glade. Communication with Janet was always quick and easy, and the location was great for our overnight stop on the from London to Anglesey. The Glade was clean and comfortable on arrival, and cosy overnight. Views were great across the valley, even in the overcast weather. We enjoyed the rope up the hill as we didn’t have much luggage - the steep access was no issue, the toilet and shower were clean and walking distance from the main cabin. Llangollen was great to explore and we ate at the Corn Mill overlooking the river and falls on Janet’s recommendation - fantastic meal. We’d definitely stop over again on a trip to wales.

The Cabin is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Picturesque walks and cycling on the doorstep. Canalside, so no roads or cars to worry about.
Small cosy space, only 1.8m by 4.8m. but warm and quiet. Television and internet with tea and coffee.
Beautiful scenery, wildlife amazing. On clear nights stars take your breath away.
  • The accomodation was lovely, well kept and quirky! Karen was brilliant especially given the weather at the time of staying! (Storm Dennis). All in all brilliant stay, lovely place, people and location!

  • Fantastic location. Short walk into town along the canal and excellent access to the surrounding areas

    Neil2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • One of my favourite places to stay in Llangollen. It's right on the canal. Lovely and warm in the winter and the beds really comfy. Lots of thoughtful touches too and very welcoming.

    Bonnie2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy canal-side cabin with double bed & tea/coffee making facilities. Shower & toilet in separate small outbuilding next to the cabin. Bird feeder outside the window brings lots of small birds. Amazing views of surrounding hills.

    Angela2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit to the beautiful dwelling of Karen and Chris. They are dear people and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I highly recommend this stay. Can't wait to come back and see them again.

    Vanessa2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a superb, quirky place to stay! Very compact, but didn't spoil our stay. Karen the host was there to greet us, and was eager to say she was on call for any needs- although we didn't need anything from her. The situation is idyllic, with direct access to the canal towpath, and would be a lovely walk in daylight! (We walked into Llangollen- about 25minutes- in the dark, and it was a bit hairy! Glad we did it though.) The wet room is separate from the living space, but very close, and there is also access to a fridge, microwave etc, also outside. Bed is super comfortable, and there are fab views to wake up to. If you are looking for something 'different' then this is most definitely the place for you! Thank you, Karen!

Escape the rat race.....come and unwind........a warm welcome awaits you at my lovely old Welsh country cottage dated circa 1650......come and be close to nature, birds and animals (you have to like dogs, ducks, chickens and wildlife!), take your time in a nurturing natural environment.
Tŷ Isaf is a traditional Welsh stone cottage situated in the stunning Ceiriog Valley. The cottage is very old built circa 1650, it is clean and warm.....but not modernised.....it has wonky walls, old beams and floorboards and flaking plaster and wallpaper because I am slowly renovating.......character I say........but that may not be to your liking! Nevertheless, my home has a lovely welcoming, warm, relaxed atmosphere........ everyone loves Tŷ Isaf! I have a single bed available at first floor level in a single room. The double room is taken by my lodger. There are two bathrooms, a sunny kitchen/dining room and a snug lounge with a huge open fireplace with a wood burner for a fire if it's cold. I have two small friendly dogs and I currently keep free range ducks and chickens outside in the large garden which is visited by a huge variety of wild birds. The surrounding fields are full of wild flowers, sheep and cows........so this listing will suit active, outdoorsy, easy going walkers/country people who are ok with the unpredictable and sometimes messy antics of animals and mud!
Glyn Ceiriog is a very beautiful, unspoilt Welsh valley steeped in history and culture with a thriving community spirit, lots of wonderful walks in the wilderness of the Berwyn and Llantysilio mountains, bike rides and horse riding. There are sooo many interesting places to visit including the 11 mile long UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the Llangollen Canal, National Trust properties at Erddig and Chirk Castle etc. The spectacular market town of Llangollen on the River Dee with its steam railway and canal and the wonderful Castell Dinas Brân and limestone escarpment and International Music Eisteddfod in July. Spend a pleasant afternoon in the charming market town of Oswestry which has many small individual shops and cafe's.
  • I highly recommend this cottage, a warm welcome awaits you and you will be close to places such as Llangollen and its Aqueduct or the Pystill Rhaeadr waterfall (40 minutes). The cottage is a charming building and the room is ideal for a single person.

    Dylan2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very enjoyable stay with a friendly and welcoming host. Make sure you get the instructions for travelling beforehand as communication and internet access is limited in the valley.

*** super clean home anyway but I’m taking extra precautions during the current time*** Located in the hills in a quiet Welsh village in Wrexham county. It's less than 10 mins drive to the town centre so it's suited to professionals & tourists. You have your own cozy, generous sized bedroom, toilet and shower on the ground floor. My rooms are above. The kitchen is shared. Surrounded by fresh air and mountains. To book my place, please ensure identification has been provided to air bnb.
You have a private room with a TV, toilet and shower room for your use. The rooms are on the ground floor. My private space is on the upper floor.
My home overlooks the retired Brymbo steel works which is now a heritage site as it has an ancient fossilised forest. There are many castles and places of interest and beauty within 30 minutes drive, including Llangollen a very popular Welsh village. From my home you can access the stunning Chester Tudor City 20 mins drive, Liverpool and Manchester cities 45-60 mins drive, the Welsh coast and beaches 45 mins drive, the Clwydian hills 15 mins drive, snowdonia mountains 1 hour drive. Great location for explore the bordering towns in both England and Wales. Nature lovers and outdoor adventurers like us will love it. Easy to get to supermarkets and shops in Oswestry. Easy going host is also a plus.

    Ken2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Hester's place was lovely. We stayed one night for a wedding in Tyn Dwr Hall. It was perfectly located for both town and access to Tyn Dwr Hall. Hester went out of her way to make our stay pleasant. The room had a small breakfast and tea and coffee which we much appreciated. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in Llangollen.

Barn converted in 2019! A cosy home with underfloor heating, woodburner, fully equipped kitchenette, private parking. 200m from steam train station, with a pub and canal just across the river. 1 mile from the centre of Llangollen which has many restaurants and activities.
Downstairs there is a hallway, living room with kitchenette, and a separate bathroom with shower. There is underfloor heating throughout the downstairs, a woodburner, and HD TV (currently no live TV but Netflix and other on-demand services available). Stairs lead up to the bedroom with king sized bed. Dog friendly. The barn has its own private driveway. The kitchenette has an oven/microwave, and fridge with freezer compartment. There is an outdoor plug which can be used to charge an electric car for a small additional charge (or type 1 7kW charger available at our house). We've listed it as not suitable for children due to the open staircase and fire, but please get in touch if you could like to bring a child. Early check-in or late check-out is usually fine if we don't have an immediate booking, please get in touch first to check.
We love being just a mile out out of Llangollen meaning we have easy access to town but it's a lot less busy. The Chainbridge pub is a 5 minute walk away and you'll hear the steam train chugging past! The barn is on a quiet lane, but does look over the A5 so you may get some road noise, especially if you have the windows open. Our post code is LL20 8AL.
  • Lovely stay at hen pandy barn last weekend! Place was very tidy upon arrival and a lot of information provided to help with stay. Underfloor heating was nice touch and helped to keep the place cosy alongside the fire. Easy to get in and out of town using bumble taxis. Will be back again soon.

  • i was rather blown away by Dave and David's home. Such stylish accommodation and so many unexpected extras such as the superb outdoor hot tub and 3D cinema. I was made to feel extremely welcome throughout my stay and these guys clearly have hosting and hospitality in their DNA. I also enjoyed a superb supper prepared by David and served in the candlelit dining room. The house has great views and is well placed for exploring the area. Even though I had the smallest room it was excellent value.

    Nigel2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality, stunning house and location. Will definitely be back if I’m in the area, and evening meal was lovely too, well worth it. Thanks for a lovely stay

    Sarah2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • David is the consummate host, and nothing seems to be too much for him in terms of helping out. The house itself is beautiful, with wonderful views, and is decorated to a really high standard. The whole place is well thought through, with Alexa operating the lights in every room, and making it simple to contact David if you need help. I stayed in the single bedroom which is VERY small, but incredibly comfortable.

  • Dave was very welcoming as was the superb hot tub once we’d worked out with Alexa how to play some blues on the poolside speakers 🥴. As I’d just had a miserable 13 mile hike along Offa’s Dyke in pouring rain and mud (Offa’s path is an easy 15 mins away) I was ready for that hot tub pamper. Moreover Dave and David offer an optional full evening meal with wine for just £15 - in my case an excellent chicken curry. This is great as the nearest eatery/pub is not walkable. All in all a great place to stay and lovely hosts!

Lovely little house right in the centre of town. Close to shops , bars and restaurants and just one minutes walk from the river. Sit in bed with a cup of tea and view the castle on top of the hill, or the steam trains in the station. All home comforts provided, toiletries, basic grocery essentials and wine to get you settled in ! Record player with vinyl provided. An eclectic mix of records . Dogs welcome.
Small but perfectly formed house . Newly decorated . Lovely main bedroom with double bed , attic room with two single beds. Well equipped kitchen. Bathroom with walk in shower. The attic bedroom is up very steep stairs, more of a ladder really , so only suitable for older children or agile adults.
Llangollen is a lovely town with lots to do and a lot going on. Go white water rafting, or take a trip on the steam train along the beautiful Dee valley. There are numerous great pubs, bars and restaurants and , of course , shops. Lovely walks are on the doorstep . Go along the canal or up to the castle. Beaches are an hour away, and Bala lake or Chester just 30 minutes.

There is very little light pollution here so great for stargazing!
  • A real gem of an Air BnB. A true home-from-home during my time near Llangollen, Caryn's home was cozy, super clean and quiet with so many thoughtful touches. Breakfast was the best I've had out of all the Air BnBs I have stayed at, with a big choice of cereals, breads, teas coffee and fresh fruit. Super comfortable and private top floor with a great day room to relax overlooking the river, and Caryn was a lovely host too! Equally happy to have a good chat as well as leave you do your own thing and make yourself at home, will definitely be back!

  • Lovely lady, lovely home, lovely setting

    Rick2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable and stylish top floor of a cosy cottage in the beautiful Welsh countryside. Caryn went the extra mile to make our stay perfect, including a very delicious and healthy breakfast each morning. The views across the valley were stunning, and the house is perfectly situated to explore the surrounding towns and villages - Llangollen was a short drive away, where we ate out in the evening, and Llandegla forest just half an hour drive, where there is a great mountain biking trail centre. There is also a local pub at the end of the road, just a couple of minutes walk, where drinks were very reasonably priced. We would definitely stay again.

    Lauren2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Caryn was a great host and very welcoming! The room was very clean and modern in a beautiful house. Also provided was breakfast in the morning which was great. The area is lovely too- overall a great place to stay!

Hillside is a 1-bed, self-contained apartment sleeping 2 people. Located on the lower ground floor of Llanerch Farm, an 18thC farmhouse nestled above the Dee Valley in 16 acres of private countryside; it has its own private garden, well-equipped kitchen and gorgeous views.
Hillside is a newly-decorated, peaceful, self-contained, one-bedroom apartment situated on the lower ground floor of Llanerch Farm, an 18th century farmhouse located between Froncysyllte and Llangollen on the North Wales borderlands. Llanerch Farm is nestled in 16 acres of private land, with beautiful views of the stunning Dee Valley. We're lucky enough to be able to not only enjoy the UNESCO World Heritage site of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct from our windows, but also the 13th century Castell Dinas Bran (or "Crow Castle"), as well as a host of amazing wildlife. Hillside is a peaceful apartment which has been thoughtfully decorated and furnished to provide a flavour of contemporary Welsh farmhouse style and surroundings. It is well-equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable home-from-home, including free WiFi, kitted-out kitchen, dishwasher, Freeview TV/DVD player/HDMI cable, board games, USB sockets and printed information on places to visit, local eateries and lots of other useful stuff. Hillside's private rear garden with patio set and parasol is the perfect spot to watch the sun set behind the romantic ruins of Dinas Bran castle, whilst our peaceful resident ponies quietly graze in the surrounding fields. The bedroom has a super-comfy king-size bed. The pretty, bijou ensuite bathroom has a walk-in shower, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail, plus fluffy towels and complimentary accessories - we've tried to think of everything you might have forgotten! Our area also has a great 4G phone signal.
We are located on quiet lane above the A5 between the 19thC village of Froncysyllte and ancient town of Llangollen. Type 'Llanerch Farm Froncysyllte' into Gmaps to see exactly where we are. Llangollen (a 10 minute drive away) is bustling with cafes, bars, restaurants and delis selling Welsh produce. Llangollen's world-renowned International Eisteddfod takes place every July, and the town also hosts annual comedy, music, food, walking and Christmas festivals too - to name but a few! In terms of shopping, Llangollen is super-handy for groceries and takeaways, and there is a Tesco Superstore a little over a mile away in Cefn. The border market towns of Oswestry and Wrexham are easily accessible (both just under 20mins by car), or if you fancy shopping 'til you drop, Chester and Shrewsbury are both a mere 30-40mins away by car. We are lucky to enjoy a fantastic choice of local walking routes across mountains, over moorland, along rivers and through woodland. The Panorama, Horseshoe Pass, Valle Crucis Abbey and Pistyll Rhaeadr/Ceiriog Valley walks are particularly popular. We're also situated on the A5 leading straight to the "Gateway to Snowdonia", so a great location to explore further into North Wales too. There's a superb range of adventure activities and experiences in Llangollen (including white water rafting and gorge walking), as well as caving, bungee jumping, canyoning and pony trekking in the area. As well as actually being able to see Castell Dinas Bran (a 13th century castle built on earlier ancient settlements) and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct from Llanerch Farm; we are also very close to 13th century Chirk Castle (seat of the Myddletons), Plas Newydd (18thC home of the celebrated Ladies of Llangollen), and Erddig Hall, which offers a unique sense of below stairs life in a Victorian country house. Other great places to explore include Betwys-y-Coed and Snowdonia, Pistyll Rhaeadr (a stunning waterfall and one of the seven Wonders of Wales), the Ceiriog Valley, Ellesmere and environs, and the lovely Welsh coastal villages of Port Meirion and Port Madog. Our local native wildlife is hugely important to us and we are passionate about continuing to work to create a haven for the wild creatures we share our land with here. You can watch some of our beautiful wildlife from Hillside itself - binoculars and bird book provided! We also have a number of lovely nature reserves on our doorstep and black grouse lekking on the moorland across the valley. Our favourite visitors to Llanerch include peregrine falcons, partridges (listen out for their arresting, mechanical calls) and spotted flycatchers. We keep regularly-updated brochures, leaflets and information outlining all of this info in Hillside for our guests to browse through during their stay.
  • We had an amazing weekend in Llangollen, the place was immaculate, wonderful little touches to make you feel more at home, down to shampoo and conditioner provided, and even eat buds in the bathroom! They left Lewis a birthday cake as they knew we were having a trip away for his birthday, and everything was perfect. The instructions on location were accurate, it’s just a shame we don’t know how to navigate! 10/10 top hosts would absolutely recommend.

  • Wow! What a beautiful property in a stunning location! We loved our stay here and would love to return in the summer with the light nights and take advantage of the garden! We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed watching the ponies potter around :) The property is beautifully decorated and well maintained with everything you could need. Lora has thought of everything and we enjoyed a cosy night in one night playing board games and enjoying the peace and quiet! We were last minute due to another holiday being cancelled and the communication was fantastic. Check in was easy and we were settled in no time! Can’t wait to stay again!

  • This is a fabulous apartment in an amazing location. We could not fault the facilities and we had everything we needed for a comfortable and cosy couple of days.

  • An amazing stay at Llanerch Farm (Hillside), would have loved to have stayed longer - the view from the house can't be beat, surely. The house was decorated beautifully and was perfectly clean throughout - it had everything we expected and more. Lora was helpful when arranging check-in at a time that suited us and the welcome notes/chocolates were a thoughtful gesture. All in all the perfect getaway for a weekend in Wales - for anyone wondering, Llangollen is a great base to explore North Wales. Thanks again to our hosts and we will be recommending to our friends and family.

  • This was our 3rd stay at Hillside, Llanerch Farm. We thoroughly endorse this beautiful place, it is a serene get away, set in a gorgeous hilltop setting with sensational views. It has everything you could need to be comfy and cosy whilst away from home. The whole place is sparkling clean and a joy to relax in. Lora and Barry are thoughtful and responsive hosts. 5 stars easily!

  • We had such a relaxing time in Lora's beautiful cottage. It was so clean and comfortable, the views were fantastic and we were made to feel very welcome. The little garden and the hanging baskets outside the bedroom window all looked great, even in November. Thank you again.

A self-contained river-facing apartment 50m from the centre of Llangollen. There is direct access out onto the promenade and thence to all pubs, restaurants and cultural delights of the town. Llangollen appeals particularly to adventurous types (kayaking, climbing, walking, cycling etc.) but there are things to do for everyone no matter how energetic (or not) people feel. Above the apartment is the private house of the owners who are only too happy to help if you need them for any reason.
Superb views out over the River Dee and up to Castell Dinas Bran. On a sunny day there are few lovelier places on the planet. The flat itself is entirely self contained with a kitchen, a bathroom and a large, open-plan living space/bedroom.
Right on the River Dee - near to all the amenities of Llangollen and right next to the famous Corn Mill Pub. One of the nicest things to do is to walk up to Castell Dinas Bran and soak in the view of the Vale of Llangollen.
  • We have been meaning to visit Llangollen for some time, and could not have been happier with our stay in the basement at the Mount this weekend. The location was perfect, the accommodation homely and the hospitality was super. Access to the riverside path was a bonus, as was the wood burning stove. We were visiting to see the railway, but enjoyed so much more of the town than that. With so many places to go, who knows if we'll make it back to Llangollen, but if we do, we'll be hoping to stay here again.

Our early 1700's home backs onto the River Dee and is ideally situated being a couple of minutes from the town centre and within walking distance of many of the main tourist attractions. The large, comfortable guest room has ensuite shower facilities, double bed, sofa, tv and tea/coffee making facilities. Access to it is by a separate staircase allowing you the privacy to come and go as you please. You are welcome to share our decking area to relax, unwind and enjoy the stunning river views.
Our Grade 2 listed town house dates back to 1710 and has been our family home for nearly 30 years. We are ideally situated for exploring Llangollen and the surrounding area and for guests attending weddings in any one of the several wedding venues in this area. The room is one of two guest rooms listed on the Airbnb site (for other see Double Room, Riverside Location, Llangollen). Both rooms are accessed from the front hallway and are independent of access through the family's part of the house, allowing you the privacy to come and go as you please. This large comfortable room is situated at the front of the house overlooking Bridge Street, which houses some of Llangollen's oldest properties. The room is full of character with original oak beams, fireplace and cupboards. It has an ensuite shower room, comfortable double bed with quality bedding and bed linen, sofa, wifi, TV, digital radio and a walk in cupboard with tea/coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer etc. You are welcome to share our outside space, a large decking area overlooking the River Dee with great views of Llangollen Bridge (One of the Seven Wonders of Wales) and St Collen's Church. Feel free to relax and unwind with a cuppa, beer or bottle of wine whilst you spot the local wildlife, watch the whitewater rafters and canoeists or even fish. We have fishing rights and guests keen on fishing are welcome to use these during their stay! Whilst I confess to knowing nothing about fishing I have been told by a couple of guests that the stretch of Dee behind the house is a gem for fly fishing! There is no parking outside the property, so parking is on the surrounding streets or in one of the several car parks within a few minutes walk from the house. The Church car park is a minute’s walk away through the Church Yard (entrance on Regent St) The long stay car park on East St is a 3 minute walk away as is the short stay car park on Market St.
Llangollen has something for everyone. Within a couple of minutes of leaving the house you can be in the town centre with it's restaurants, cafes, tea rooms, bakerys, pubs, various shops and outward bound activity centres. We are also within walking distance of some of the main tourist attractions, which include the stunning Riverside Walk, the Heritage Steam Railway, the Horse Drawn Canal Boats, Plas Newydd, Castell Dinas Bran, The Horse Shoe Falls and Valle Crucis Abbey. For the adventurous there are activities such as whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing, gorgewalking, rock climbing and abseiling. You can also hire bikes or pull on your walking boots to explore the stunning local scenery, take a walk along the canal or you can choose to take an open topped bus tour to the Horseshoe Pass and Thomas Telford's Aqueduct in Pontcysyllte, an UNESCO World Heritage site. If you enjoy fishing, please feel free to bring your rods and take advantage of our fishing rights directly behind the house.

  • I was looking for a room in central Llangollen and found it. Sally-Ann was an excellent and friendly communicator, check-in worked well and the room was delightful - good quality furnishings in an interesting old house. There was a good selection of drinks and snacks and everything was sparklingly clean. Access to the decking is a bonus, giving you an opportunity to sit and watch the river go by whilst being in the middle of the town. Highly recommended!

Our cottage is situated at the top of the mountain overlooking the Ceiriog Valley and Berwyn mountains. It is ideal for romantic breaks or just to relax and unwind making use of your own private hot tub after long walks in the hills. A mere four miles from Llangollen you'll find a great base to make the most of all the fantastic outdoor activities and places to visit that we have to offer in the local area and further afield in North Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire.
Guests have access to the garden and lawn area, but we encourage guests to exercise their pets OFF the premises as there are children who use this lawned area from time to time.
In terms of the neighbourhood we're surrounded by fields, so the majority of our neighbours are sheep. Other than the livestock there are two other properties further up the road and a log cabin within the grounds so you may occasionally see other guests. But that's pretty much it, so as you can imagine the neighbourhood is quiet and relaxing.
  • I can’t describe how wonderful our stay was at Pen Y Fedw cottage. The views are amazing. The place is spotless and with plenty of little extra touches you didn’t know you needed you can fully relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Sharon and Dave absolutely made our stay even more magical, the most gracious hosts, full of genuine care and knowledge. We arrived as guests and left feeling like friends. We can not wait to rebook x

  • Cosy little cottage with beautiful landscape views. This is a perfect place for a getaway and a relaxing break. The hot tub is great and Sharon and Dave look after you so well - homemade scone on arrival was delicious! There are lots of nice walks and cosy local pubs and restaurants to visit nearby. Highly recommend this place!

  • Pen-Y-Fedw Cottage. A little gem on top of a beautiful mountain. A huge thank you to Sharon and Dave for allowing us to share your wonderful country cottage. The most amazing hosts who have spoilt us with hospitality and ‘to die for’ home made Welsh cakes and scones. If you are looking for calm, tranquility and a total escape for a few days, this is the place to visit. It is also a wonderful base to return to after a day of exploring the Welsh country. The hot tub is fantastic as is the charm of this quaint cottage. We were also shown around the new quirky log cabin, which we will definitely be booking next time. There is something to suit everyone here, ranging from the hot tubs, country walks, sight seeing, nature or just good old fashioned romance. Once again a big thank you to Sharon and Dave. Regards Martine & Darren, Swinton, Manchester.

  • If you want a place that is away from the stresses of life, this is the place for you. Sharon and David are very caring hosts, paying attention to all the touches that will make your stay wonderful. Thank you for the cream tea on arrival Sharon! The Hot Tub is a must. We were there in February, the tub was beautifully clean and warm making a lovely relaxing end to a wet and windy day.

    Sue2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 2 night stay at Sharon and Dave's cottage and it was lovely!

  • I couldn’t recommend this place more; the area was stunning with a town close by, the locals seemed very friendly and the hosts couldn’t do more for you. The cottage was completely clean and cozy with a good use of the space, and the hot tub was luxurious. Thank you Sharon and David!

New and fully equipped modern apartment located in central Llangollen amongst shops and restaurants. The living area and roof terrace offer a cosy place to sit and enjoy the spectacular views of Llangollen.
This is a completely self-contained luxury apartment. There is one bedroom with a king size bed and one double sofa bed in the lounge area. There is a lovely bath/shower room. There is a large kitchen/dining room/ lounge area with vaulted ceiling and patio doors opening onto a roof top decking with outdoor seating, artificial grass and spectacular views.
Llangollen and its surrounding areas offer some fantastic walks and heritage sites to visit. The apartment is very central to the town centre and river but still quiet and hidden away.
  • Lovely Airbnb, very clean and stylish. Comfy bed too! Great location and the roof terrace is a nice touch. Just missing a couple of amenities for self catering. Would stay again!! Thank you :)

    Jessica2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Good location and nicely decorated modern apartment. Unusual for us, from all previous Airbnb experiences, to have no communication at all from hosts. But having a key box made no waiting for check in. Bring everything with you, as no little extras at all. You need tea and coffee, condiments, toiletries, and even your own dishwasher tablets. Also make sure you pack ear plugs if it’s forecast rain or high wind. And if you want a little background music there are no facilities for this, so bring a portable speaker. Llangollen is a beautiful little village to stay in with everything you need on your doorstep and adventure to be had if you like to walk.

    Gemma2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great view points from the flat including the river.

    Tony2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is in such a central location to Llangollen but also to other attractions around. Parking was easy outside but also there’s a huge car park across the road for free with the permit provided. The space is so modern and clean with lots of space. The outdoor area is lovely too. Everything about the place is clean and modern and spacious. Communication with the host was fantastic and very quick and helpful. Very impressed. Would definitely recommend.

The holiday accommodation is attached to the main house but is completely separated. It has its own entrance so guests can come and go as they please. Access is along a driveway from the road and there is plenty of room for parking. A pathway leads from the parking area, round the building to a courtyard and the entrance. usage
The private entrance opens into a kitchen/diner which is fully equipped with new appliances. Stairs lead up to the bed/sitting room with en-suite bathroom and separate dressing room. There are also benches set out within the garden and guests are welcome to stroll around or simply sit out and relax. In warmer weather we provide patio table and chairs in the courtyard where you can enjoy relaxing or open air dining.
We are in a rural location, the house stands in almost 3 acres it is detached and surrounded with garden and fields. There are no immediate neighbours, so you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. You have free access to the garden. Although there are no pubs or restaurants in the immediate location, there are several to be found a short journey away. If it is a quiet and peaceful setting that you want, we have it, with lovely views in all directions from the house. There are also lots of interesting places to visit close at hand.
  • Lovely hosts and a spotless little living space, perfect whilst working away with all the required amenities. Accommodated me at late notice and was very welcoming. Take a stash of pound coins for the electric meter

  • David’s place is still as fantastic as the first time we stayed. Amazing hosts and a beautiful place with great amenities.

    Kathryn2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is our go-to when we’re in the area, which has been quite a lot in the last 12 months. It’s like home from home, with freedom to cook if we wish. We stayed nearly two weeks this time and were warm, cosy and comfortable.

    Jackie2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • This home is absolutely beautiful. It is clean and cozy and has everything needed to be comfortable during your stay. It is in a rural area so you will need a car but with a car it is very easy to get anywhere including the Ruabon train station if you wish to take a longer day trip. There are car parks at the majority of places and parking is for the most part not a problem. Let me suggest the app Here We Go because you can download the maps of whatever country you are at and it works as a proper gps, offline. David’s property is worth the driving and I absolutely would recommend it and plan to once again make it my base hub when I return.

    Tiffany2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at Plas Eyton over Christmas. It was an absolutely beautiful, cozy and inviting stay with everything we needed for a home away from home. David was very accommodating and left some goodies for us as we arrived Christmas Day when the shops were closed which was a godsend! Especially the coffee!! thank you David !! The photos don’t do the beauty of the place justice, double windows on on all sides facing acres of green English countryside, perfect to wake up to and lie watching with a coffee. The perfect escape. Would recommend 10/10.

    Joni2019-12-28T00:00:00Z

Capel Pennant is an old estate chapel on the Chirk Castle estate within the grounds of a seventeenth century manor house, in an idyllic setting at the head of secret valley although only a mile as the crow flies from the National Trust castle.
Plas Pennant has been restored over the last twenty years by Nick Davies, Cadw's Inspector of Historic Buildings in north Wales. The chapel is furnished with antique furniture and paintings with fully fitted kitchen and shower room. There is full central heating as well as a wood burning stove. There is a paved terrace in front of the chapel with table and chairs and the chapel garden is for the exclusive use of the chapel guests.
Plas Pennant is in the Ceiriog Valley, within the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of the Chirk Castle Estate. The National Trust own the historic Edward I castle and 600 acres of surrounding parkland. Plas Pennant is at the head of an isolated private valley only a mile as the crow flies from the castle, 3 miles from Chirk and 2.5 miles from Llangollen. There is a pub and post office at the nearby village of Pontfadog 1.5 miles.
  • Beautiful place to spend a few days. The chapel has been thoughtfully renovated and we had a lovely time staying there. The kitchen is well equipped and we were easily able to cook several meals. The access road and several of the roads nearby are not in great condition but we managed in a small VW in the middle of February after a storm! There are lots of friendly animals nearby and we enjoyed seeing the horses and chickens wandering round in the fields next to us. It is well located to explore Llangollen and the nearby attractions but make sure you have a back up map with you as sat nav can be a bit spotty! All in all, would highly recommend.

    Bethany2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay at Capel Pennant. Weather was stormy and snowy, but we returned each day to a snug and warm cottage. Views across the valley are lovely, and Nick keeps the place fully equipped, very clean and with tasteful decoration themed on the Chapels previous life. Would love to return.

    Margaret2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Chapel pennant is a charming little cottage in a spectacular setting. Sited on a working farm on a hill above Pontfadog looking down the Ceiriog Valley. The view from the terrace is simply spectacular. The owners are obviously very good cooks because the kitchen is better supplied with cooking tools than most AirBnB rentals. But there is a cozy pub at the bottom of the hill that offers great food, a nice selection of beers and ales, and friendly conversation. As hosts, Nick and Derek go above and beyond expectations. They are always there for advice and recommendations, and we would come home from a day of chilly exploration (we visited in late October) to find a fire laid in the fireplace, or even already lit and crackling and welcoming. The smell of woodsmoke in the damp evening air is a great thing to come home to.

  • This is a fabulous Airbnb, especially for those who want to get off the beaten track. The house and surroundings are magical, with great hiking and day trips all around. From Chirk Castle to the Trevor Aqueduct to so many other historical monuments - as well as some nice beach areas (90 minutes away) - the area is rich with adventure possibilities. I can't recommend Nick's place enough, but, again, best for those who don't mind driving on tiny roads and being in a more remote area (this is exactly what we wanted!) The hosts are very responsive and providing useful tips as well as some extra amenities including firewood for the wood stove and a top sheet for the bed (not common in the UK apparently). The one minor complaint we had was that the mattress needs replacing (not terrible, but more saggy than normal, and given the exceptional quality of everything else, it would be a well worth replacing.) This is easily one of the best Airbnb's we've ever stayed in, and we hope to be back!

  • Capel Pennant is a idyllic gem, a gorgeous place tucked away between the tiny hamlet of Pontfadog (Llangollen) and Chirk (Castle - NT). It is everything it is described to be and more. The cottage has every amenity and extra features which make it really comfortable. The setting is quiet and tranquil...it's got everything you need for a perfect, restful break in the countryside. The cottage was sparkingly clean, cosy and wonderfully equipped. Nick was a wonderful host who was quick to respond to all our mails. This is a little peace of heaven where you can recharge your batteries! Many thanks Nick!

  • A 'proper' log cabin in such a quiet location. The cabin itself is clean and well maintained with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The jacuzzi is an excellent addition to fix those tired muscles after a nice long walk in the Welsh country side. You will not be dissapointed.

    Ross2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in this beautiful log cabin for two wonderful nights. Our hosts, Sharon and David were super lovely and helpful. Prior to our stay, Sharon had sent really useful messages with places to visit and eat and so we didn't have to do any research before we visited. Her directions to the lodge were really clear and helpful, especially as we found that we had limited phone data available to use sat nav and also the directions avoided a really rough road. On arrival, we were welcomed warmly with delicious homemade bara brith (our first time trying this-delicious!) and cream scones. We bought some of her home made jam as it is so delicious. The cabin was fabulous, lovely and warm and modern too. The hot tub was amazing! The view from it was incredible and we watched the stars from it and even went in it in a gale force wind as it was so lovely and warm and relaxing with it's powerful jets. We visited some lovely places and felt very relaxed as we were unable to access emails, texts or phone calls as we had no signal. However, we did have a minor family emergency and Sharon and David were more than happy for us to use their house phone for this, for which we were very grateful. We really hope to be back again as we so enjoyed our stay.

  • Beautiful cabin, inside was amazing, hot water straight away in the shower, very clean and Sharon & Dave was amazing hosts. The hot tub was great and the view of fields filled with sheep was great. If your looking for a place to get away this is great, no phone signal but just down the road you can. We went to Llangollen for breakfast at The Meating Point was delicious, we went to the Bridge End pub was good but the pub side is very small, we wanted to watch the football/scores on Saturday we found a lovely little place across from the 3 eagles on Bridge street (can’t remember the name) quirky inside but everyone was lovely, nice simple pub food, overlooked the river. Everywhere was dog friendly even places that served food :)

  • The cabin is clean and cosy! The hosts are lovely and very helpful, great hosts. We had a lovely time with plenty of nearby walks with our dog! It was heaven to get away and spend a few days relaxing with no phone signal and the hot tub was a welcome bonus after a long walk! Would definitely recommend!

  • Despite storm Dennis trying to thwart us, we had an absolutely amazing stay with Sharon. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and it's obvious that alot of thought and effort has gone into creating it - it's perfect for an off the grid getaway! The hottub was an extra special treat and Sharon was especially helpful when giving us places to go and visit/eat. We throughly enjoyed our stay, thank you!

  • Lovely cosy cabin in a great location especially if you’re after a peaceful weekend. Some nice local walking, we didn’t get out too much due to bad weather but still had a great weekend. No WiFi, no phone signal, perfect!

  • Well what can I say, what an outstanding place to go and stay. The cabin is so stylish and modern but has a rustic feel. The hosts were amazing with their welcome and they themselves were very engaging and warm. They respected our privacy but were also there if we wanted to chat. They helped us really well with directions and told us great places to eat. I must recommend to anyone staying here to book a table in the Mulberry inn as it has outstanding food. The hot tub was a nice touch and the cabin was always warm which was great for the mad dash from the tub to the cabin to keep warm. Even though the weather was not on our side , we didn't mind staying in the cabin all day as it was just that nice. This has been my best find on Airbnb since using the app. I cant thank sharon and dave enough. The only down side was that there was no wifi which we expected there to be, but it just meant more quality time for ourselves. Highly would recommend.

  • Annette and Terry were especially great hosts, from greeting me made me welcome in their beautiful home which integrates many international themes. Terry walked me to the pub on a couple of occasions with the dog over the dark fields to ensure I got there safely. Lovely touches at breakfast with hints of the old style B&B! Also special porridge was great! Truly special and relaxing place to stay.

  • Annette and Terry were especially great hosts, from greeting me made me welcome in their beautiful home. Their sheepdog also was friendly and kept me company, occasionally playing fetch. A very enjoyable stay. Hosts that became friends and sad to leave. I would return in future.

The beds were comfortable and we had an excellent night's sleep. Annette is an excellent host and we would definitely return if in the area again. We would highly recommend to anyone who appreciates extra, thoughtful touches.
