Just booked in Princeton

Escape with the family or for a private romantic getaway at this tranquil piece of heaven. Let the relaxing sound of the waterfalls wash the stress away!
Lots of parking, 1 bedroom with 2 bunks, loft with queen bed, futon in living room. Yard is great for pitching tent or parking RV.
Great hiking trails, off road trails, fishing, swimming
  • This cottage location is great - close the the highway but completely secluded. My daughters (9 and 13) played for hours in the water. There was a nice screened-in porch where we ate all of our meals. Next time I will bring water shoes and bug spray so we can explore further. The water was even more beautiful in person.

  • Nice and relaxing place ! It has pretty much everything you need. Would go again.

    Ginette2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is breath taking. The pictures do not do it justice in the least. Cabin is so cozy and the view off the deck is stunning. Hiking trails were a fun little adventure for us and even though it's not far off the main road we still felt like we were in the middle of no where to enjoy the tranquility and sound of the river. Can't wait to go back in the summer to go swimming!

  • Beautiful place! Great location close to St Andrews. Highly recommended. Just bring drinking water!

  • Love this cozy cabin in the woods with such a stunning view! Very happy with how helpful and informative she was. Told us about a great trail that we and the dogs loved! Close to St. Andrews! We will be back for sure!!! Thanks again!!

  • Perfect getaway location

    Ben2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • 5 of us traveled to NB for a wedding and chose to try our luck with this rustic little "cabin in the woods". The pictures do not do it justice. The surrounding forest is beautiful while the cabin itself is the perfect little getaway from busy every day life. It is clear that the cabin holds a special place in the hearts of it's owners as it was clean, tidy, and stocked with all the necessary gear for cabin life. We were pleasantly surprised to find a new fly screen installed over the deck, a BBQ, and a fire pit on site. We were in NB for just under a week and the location of the cabin was great. It's located only 15 minutes from St. Andrews/St. Stephen and just minutes from the highway. We took advantage of the location and visited numerous sights in the area. Communication with Laurel was great and she answered any questions we had. Our group is from Newfoundland so we are all familar with the typical cabin challenges. You are in the middle of the woods so flies are ever present. Bring fly spray, live inside the fly tent on the deck, or prepare to donate a lot of blood. On the last few days of the trip, the water pressure in the cabin was very low, making it difficult to shower/wash dishes/etc. Despite these small issues, we had a fantastic time. If I am ever in need of a place to stay in NB I won't hesitate to book here again.

    Luke2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a great time at Laurel's place. The view was incredible and we found plenty to do between lounging on the deck, hiking up the river and travelling into Saint Andrews, which is a fairly short drive. We would love to come back sometime.

A spacious one of a kind cabin perched on a red pine bluff overlooking a picturesque loon lake with excellent fishing. Day trip to scenic coast for lobster! -lakefront porch -private dock -hammock -canoe -peaceful
A unique and spacious wood cabin built by my brother with a beautiful cathedral ceiling, ceiling fan, large upper loft and two private bedrooms with two bathroom located on a very special red pine bluff. The lake has cabins only along one shoreline, limiting lake use; boats are either canoes, kayaks or fishing boats. Pocomoonshine Lake is located in the more remote NE corner of Maine. The kitchen is large and well stocked, including large pot and utensils for a lobster feed after a scenic day trip to the Maine coast. We love Cutler Harbor where the Little Lobster Company lets you choose your lobster fresh out of the salt water. We will provide you with a map of the lake, including favorite fishing reef/holes and a lovely boat trip through a main stream with lily pads and pickerel weed that meanders through 3 other lakes (2 pristine lakes and a larger lake with scattered cabins), a wildlife refuge, Canada or Maine coast nearby...or simply relax on the front porch watching the sunset, listening to loon songs and calls, fishing/swimming off the dock or rocky shoreline and observe wildlife (eagles, moose, loons, beaver, mink, kingfisher, hummingbirds). You are welcome to bring a fishing boat--public landing just down the road and private dock is yours. Dock chairs available for use. Boat cushions available, but bring your own lifejackets. Hammock, lakeside front porch, table games and TV with VCR for movies. Beach towels, bath towels, linens, soap, dishwasher are provided. A laundromat close by. Water at the cabin is lake water and needs boiling before drinking. We will provide two large containers of drinking water and highly recommend bringing further drinking water. Cabin is available June through September. June has great fishing but is "buggy"...black fly season. July and August provide all the best of summer (August is usually blueberry season!) and September is beautiful ...part summer/part fall with leaves beginning to turn the end of the month. Woodstove and fire wood for cooler days.
There are numerous nesting pairs of loons on the lake, which indicates the pristine water and beauty of the sights and sounds of a true pristine Maine lake. Neighbors on either side are not there all summer, giving you a quiet, private and relaxing experience.
  • The 10 hour drive from Philadelphia was absolutely worth every minute we got to spend on the lake (and then some!). The house is rustic as others have described but we had everything we needed. We had a fire every night in the fire pit overlooking the lake - the stars in the clear evening sky were amazing to see. The lake is large and very quiet - only the sounds of the loons talking back and forth broke up the silence in the evening. It was great to unplug - we were able to get a minimal Verizon wireless signal inside the cabin - but our teenage kids opted to read, puzzle and play games with us instead. Dana was very responsive from Seattle and Karen and Paul took great care of us in Alexander.

  • Lovely Maine camp, well equipped house and beautiful location. Great place for a get-away, would highly recommend if you want peaceful, quiet vacation on a beautiful lake. We couldn't believe how infrequently we saw other boats on the lake and how warm the water was!

    Megan2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a peaceful place surrounded by wildlife, this will be perfect for you. A spacious, rustic house is located in a forest just by the lake. Delightful, pristine nature, wonderful loons singing after sunset, perfect place for privacy. Amazing sunsets - priceless!

    Beata2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks so much Dana for sharing your camp with us! It truly has the best view on the lake!! It is beyond words and the pictures do not do it justice! The fire pit on top of the ledge bluff was awesome! The inside of the camp is rustic with an open concept and the large picnic table in the camp will accommodate even the largest of families. There are several beds in the camp. The camp does need some upgrades however-beds, furniture, tv and extra lighting would make this an easy 5 star rental however it is priced more than fair and again.....did I mention the view!!! Dana was an awesome and very friendly host! We made some great memories here! We will be back!

    Ldwheaton12017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This will be the hardest review to write in only 500 words, because that is NOT enough to say it all. We were the maiden voyage for this host and this amazing property... To which some said "don't believe it". Well I am telling you , "BELIEVE" . The photos are amazing and they Truly do not do justice. This is New England/Maine Woods Camp experience personified!!! The home is large ,but intimate, it is Camp and has history.. So things are older giving it an authentic charm...and quirks. The property and majestic towering cedars , awe inspiring. The lake is Huge, yet manageable for even the smallest"we had 5yr olds" . Clear Navy Blue Water, Sunsets of rainbow colors. The home is spacious enough for 10-12. Dana was open in sharing and communicating. The care takers were so wonderful, opened the house for our late arrival ( this is on the Candian Border and it is a Drive! ) , they visited with us and sat with us over warm blueberry muffins and coffee,on the porch, giving us fantastic local suggestions for outings etc. There is supply shopping just 20 minutes from camp, for daily "forgot to pack" needs. We went on serveral day trips from the suggestions... Not to Miss list, includes: Cutler for LOBSTAH, Quoddy Lighthouse, Lubec Maine ( Water Street Tavern best food , hosts and the VIEW is beyond belief) and Roosevelts Campobello Island!!! Be prepared to settle in and enjoy what nature has to offer, unplug( as the is truly no service) , cook over the death defining fire pit on the cliffs of the beyond belief property ( keep the little ones back!!!! ) as the care taker said...if you go over " that will leave a mark!!!). The path to the dock is through the woods, we were fine in water socks and flip flops ... The dock made for easy water entrance , shallow and clear, we had inflatables tied tight, the wind can get rambunctious . We could not have had a more fitting location for our family get away, it feels like you are staying at your family place while they are away ... And my final words are exactly that, this camp was built by the owner and son as well as many of the items in the home ...and as far as we were concerned the Quintessential New England Camp experience was capitalized with the Custom Made 12 foot long FAMILY TABLE ... Go make memories!!! Ours will last a lifetime... Thank you Dana and Donn for sharing we felt like family ....

Very spacious 19th Century Victorian style home, Enjoy two fire places, very large kitchen, dining room and living room. We are in a very safe neighbourhood across from the St. Stephen Police Department, great views of the Saint Croix River; so close to the USA, you can see it! Walking distance to downtown St.Stephen, close to convenience stores, restaurants and the St. Stephen Border Crossing.
This is our home and we are present when folks are staying with us. St. Stephen is our neighborhood. We are 4 blocks from the center of town, the wharf, shops, and restaurants. We see the harbor from the front porch and enjoy water views from the windows.
The neighborhood is very safe, in fact we are across the street from the local police department and the Canadian customs and border control is within walking distance
  • Great. Thanks

  • Steve's place was just what we needed after a long day of travel. The bed was very comfy, the rooms were immaculate and pleasing to the eye. The gardens were lovely and we enjoyed a visit on the screened-in porch. Steve and Toni were kind and helpful hosts.

  • We had a fabulous weekend at Steve and Toni's. The compact suite contains all you need and then some. Our hosts were welcoming and generous with both their space and local knowledge. We loved the direct access to the garden and screened porch, and slept well on the comfortable bed. We will definitely be back.

  • Steve and Toni are great hosts! Very restful. They answered any questions we had and helped us discover their little town. We had a lovely chat before our departure the next morning.

    Karine2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Centrally located in St Stephen, w/ lovely private garden entrance & driveway parking. Steve met us & checked us in w friendly advice on restaurants in town & an interesting travel trailer vs. van discussion he & my hubby had. Both he & his wife are super helpful & nice. The room is very bright & colorful, although overcrowded w queen bed, sofa, 3 end tables, etc., barely enough room to get to bathroom. Bed is metal frame w/ an air mattress & 5" foam on top; very soft & bouncy, a little too much so for us. Nice linens. Good overhead fan in bedroom & AC if needed. Bathroom is superb, brand new & well done remodel, great shower. We enjoyed our quick overnight stay and wish we'd been around longer to enjoy the private deck entrance & garden.

  • Lovely lady and perfect place to stop for the night. Thanks Danielle!

    Mike2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle's place is a really lovely, homey spot in a suburban area located a stones throw from the US-Canadian border crossing. The room is relatively large and well furnished with wicker pieces and a substantial duvet and nice sheets--pieces that spoke of the sea and permanence to me. She surprised me with coffee and a delicious raisin bread toast to set me on my way in the morning. I was charmed and would love to return to explore the area further.

    Matt2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle was very thoughtful and friendly. My husband and I stayed one night on our way through to PEI, and the room was exactly what we needed. The bed was super comfortable, and even though the bathroom was shared, we felt there was more than an adequate amount of privacy.

    Carmen2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle was very sweet and welcoming, and very understanding about us checking in late after delays. The room is spacious and comfortable, and having our area as a little closed off section with our own washroom was nice. Overall, an excellent experience!

    Braydon2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle is a lovely lady with a nice cozy home. The townhouse is right near the border crossing and very easy to find. The room and bathroom is private and clean. Very comfortable bed and pillows (always a plus for side sleepers). We had coffee and chatted in the morning. I would recommend Seastar to anyone who is visiting St Stephens, New Brunswick.

    Machelle2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay at Danielle's charming Cottage. She was very welcoming, very helpful and made me feel at home. I had a good night rest and shared a nice breakfast with her and her sisters who happened to be visiting. They nicely showed me around the river rapids nearby. Above all I enjoyed very much the chatting around the breakfast table. I had a wonderful time and would strongly recommend this place.

    Christophe2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great sleep over at the Sea Star and our friendly host Danielle made sure we were well accomodated.

  • Fred and Burt are excellent hosts. They greeted us warmly, have a lovely home with very interesting antiques, a beautiful backyard and very cute and entertaining dogs. Room 1 had a great shower and tub. The only challenge was some of the sloping ceilings. I am 6 ft 5". There breakfast was an incredible spread which will not leave you hungry.

    Steven2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful stay. We were very comfortable and breakfast was AMAZING. Loved the décor and dogs.

    Baylee2016-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fred and Bert run an immaculate Airbnb that competes with the most delightfully eccentric B and Bs that one might imagine. Even better, they serve a breakfast meant for royalty. I've never had three breakfasts in a row that were so scrumptiously enticing and creative. They are truly chefs with a cause. The conversation was similarly stimulating, full of good thinking, fun and pleasantly oblique references. It will be a goal to return here some day soon to enjoy true camaraderie and luscious meals.

    Kristin & Vance2016-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our charming hosts Bert and Fred and their two French Bulldogs welcomed us with a glass of wine and gave us a lovely tour of their magnificent antique and art filled home when we arrived around 430 pm. We so enjoyed chatting with Bert and Fred-fascinating folks-plus they gave us ideas of local places of interest and recommendations for dinner. Upon our return from st. Andrew, we found our hosts had turned down our bed, provided us with carafes of ice water with cucumber, and granola bars in case we had midnight munchies! Enjoyed the private bath with high design tub and techno shower. Pampered better than a five star hotel. And then there was THE breakfast feast! As an admitted foodie, the fluffy scrambled eggs with fresh herbs and narcissus blooms accents from the garden, bacon, fresh from the oven blueberry muffins, English muffins with three jams, fresh strawberries and blueberries and cucumber/parsley/baby tomatoes from their garden, etc. were all a culinary delight!! all served on China, linens, under a gleaming crystal chandelier in the formal dining room. Treated us like royalty and treasured guests throughout, even escorting us out to the car via a tour of the elegant gardens, fountains and ponds surrounding their home. Our first experience booking with AirBnB and so impressed with Bert and Fred's hospitality, great representatives for this service! Can't wait to come back. And to share with our friends this special experience.

    Antoinette2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Fred and Burt were a gem. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and offered a glass of wine to enjoy with them in their backyard. Their home showcases an array of beautiful art and treasures displayed with charm and comfort. Our breakfasts were a beautiful presentation of delicious foods complemented with delightful conversation and insight into places to visit. We much enjoyed our stay and thank Fred and Burt for opening up their home.

  • Fred and Bert are exceptional hosts and with their two French Bulldogs, Cutie and Beasley, greeted us with enthusiasm and charm. Their home is a tribute to their many tastes and stamina in collecting. Each room is a full of interesting objects, paintings, drawings, furniture all displayed in the best of taste. Breakfast was a feast with home made muffins, berries,,fruits, relish, tray, condiments , toast and then herbed scrambled eggs and sausages. Fred and Bert were attentive to every detail. This was our first time in New Brunswick and hope we can revisit The Coach House.

Spacious, private, clean top floor apartment above our home, on a quiet dead end street a few hundred yards from the U.S. border in the small town of St. Stephen, Canada. The apartment includes a bathroom, kitchenette and 2 big bedrooms, one with a couch that is comfortable to sleep on for a night or two. Exactly what airbnb is all about: a good base camp for exploring the area or an easy stopover on your journey!
Private entrance, hardwood floors, kitchenette with: full size fridge, table and chairs, small oven, double burner/hotplate, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, cutlery, plates and bowls etc. Full bathroom with bath and shower. Not overlooked by neighbours!
Nice quiet dead end street in Canada's Chocolate Town, with a convenience store just a few steps away. Right on the St. Croix River that separates Canada from the U.S.A. See nesting bald eagles from the front door! And did we mention the Chocolate Museum and gourmet Chocolatier just a ten minute walk down the road?!
  • The apartment is spacious and very private, well maintained and clean. It is located within a couple of blocks of the US-Canadian border, quite convenient for sightseeing on either side. We appreciated that the kitchenette was supplied with some essentials such as coffee, tea, fruits, milk, OJ, and bagels. There's a convenience store at the end of the block and a large grocery store a short drive away. Our communication with Rachael prior to our arrival was friendly and informative and Jeremy was helpful on our arrival. We would definitely choose to stay here again if the opportunity arose.

  • Rachel was very accommodating and went the extra distance to make me comfortable during my stay. This was one of my few experiences where the property was really easy to locate and the check in process was completely free of issues. Thanks for a nice visit.

The fridge was even stocked and there was fruit & treats on the counter. We found Rachael very accessible and helpful when needed. Thanks!

This unique little apartment has a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast nook, a cosy loft for sleeping, and a porch. The living room space has a wood floor and a cathedral ceiling. Enjoy falling asleep as you watch the night sky through the skylight! Not recommended for retirees or anyone who lives with mobility challenges. You will need to be limber to climb the ladder stairs into the loft space.
  • We had a lovely stay at Agnes' quaint little apartment! Check-in was well organized and we were greeted by a friendly neighbour to ensure that we had everything we needed. Agnes left tons of information on things to do in the area, and always made herself accessible to us should we have any inquiries. She also makes a delicious rhubarb cake! Thanks for the stay :)

    Jessica2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Agnes' place is fantastic - very quiet, very clean, exactly as described. Excellent communication. Just the place I needed to relax for a couple of days! Would recommend strongly.

  • Agnes was so welcoming and nice. The place was a perfect spot to relax and it was walking distance to some parks and a grocery store. I even left some items behind and Agnes is kind even to mail them to me. Would stay again!

  • This was a one night stop for us making our way from Quebec City to Saint John. It was the perfect spot for us to rest. The loft was as described; very clean, cozy and unique. Must be able to walk up narrow stairs to sleep but is worth it if you can!

    M2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Agnes was welcoming and kind, offering written information on PEI (our next stop). The value of the their apartment was great, and there were a few items in the fridge for us to enjoy, not to mention granola and fresh flowers on the table...nice touch! We enjoyed our short stay, and if you are up for an adventure in sleeping locations, I recommend Agnes'!

    Kelly2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • The most obvious obstacle is the ladder like stairs to the bed platform. Agnes has pointed this out and it was not a problem for us but could be for many. It is literally a ladder. We did not attempt to take any of our stuff up there. The bed is mattress on the floor that could be of better quality. Were this my place I would have been sure the microwave, fridge door, kitchen floor, doors and shower tracks were spotless. Sorry to say they were not. However the hosts were very nice and friendly. It pains me to make any negative comments about the place but I would appreciate knowing such details of a place I was going to stay. It certainly was not a bad choice but I hope the hosts take my comments to heart and break out the cleaners.

Beautiful cabin on very quiet Meddybemps Lake in Downeast Maine with lots of privacy! Hear the loons at night while enjoying all the amenities. A nature lovers paradise. No smoking allowed.
You will enjoy how quiet and peaceful the lake is!
Very private. Many times when you go to lakefront homes they are crowded with other homes near by. This is not the case here. Very secluded in large private cove with no other homes in view.
  • My family and I had the time of our lives in Cary's beautiful, waterfront cabin! The accommodations were beautiful, the lake was serene, and Cary's gracious hospitality was much appreciated, especially after our long trip to Downeast Maine. We enjoyed being steps away from great fishing, kayaking, and swimming. Inside, the cabin was clean, well-stocked, and simply but beautifully furnished. It was truly difficult to leave this spectacular location and hope to come again next summer.

    Stephanie2015-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at this Maine cabin on Lake Meddybemps. Cary and his wife made us feel welcome with a phone call and breakfast goodies in the fridge. Cary was attentive to our inquiries. It was a pleasure talking with him. The cabin was as described with a view of the lake from the screened porch. We were provided with all the bathroom, living room and kitchen essentials.

    Paula2015-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent all around. Carey is a very friendly guy with a very beautiful, quiet place. Cabin is secluded with the feel of being rustic and modern at the same time. Everything was provided for and even went the extra mile and left a couple things in the fridge. Awesome experience and I look forward to coming back some time.

    Samuel2016-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Cary has a remarkable piece of property on the lake shore and a well appointed, very clean cabin. He is a great host and made us feel welcome, making sure we knew how things operated and where things were if we needed them. This was a whole house rental, and Cary was unobtrusive even though he was there for part of the time in a separate cabin. Screened porch was perfect for sitting without bugs and the interior of the cabin was very comfortable (in August). I would highly recommend spending time here if you can make it. It really is a beautiful, peaceful place.

    Jacob2014-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Here is what you need to know about Cary's cabin and our stay in Meddybemps... Cary was very accommodating from start to finish. Communication was very easy and he made sure that everything was ready for us when we arrived. The cabin was fantastic with everything we needed. It was very clean and comfortable for our family. Rocky Cove is very peaceful with plenty of fish to be caught. The lake is pristine. We all really enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend this spot. If you are lucky enough to stay here you will love it.

    Todd2016-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place, beautiful house, absolutely great and gentile host! We loved our stay in Cary's home and we recommend this stay to everyone who loves to be in the nature and search for tranquility. The house seams new, everything was great clean! We met Cary personally and he was so friendly and courteous. We were so lucky and could even stay longer, Cary was so spontaneous! So we absolutely recommend this place, and we suggest to stay at least 3 or 4 nights there! A big thanks to Cary for this memorable time!=)

THE CAPTAIN'S CABIN The Captain's Cabin a is totally new, one bedroom construction, that sits on the edge, literally, of the St. Croix River located at 27 Lamb Cove Lane in Robbinston, Maine and overlooks historic St. Croix Island and neighboring New Brunswick, Canada. This is a very private two/three person cabin located 2/10 of a mile(.32km) from U.S. Rte. 1.
The Captain's Cabin has one queen bed and a cot to accommodate a third person. The Captain's Cabin is great for honeymooners, artist's and writer's retreats, those recuperating from job stress or health issues, hiking enthusiasts, kayak explorers, or just a great place for a quiet vacation. At high tide the St. Croix River is just outside your window and the only noises are gull cries, duck chatter, laughing loons, and seal groans from the island in the distance. It is fully equipped for your weekly or monthly enjoyment including DirecTv. Just bring your food and drink. Rental includes one or more lobster trapping trips on the river with Captain Louis, your host. Sorry, no pets. The Cabin is 10 miles(16km) south of Calais, Maine where three bridges connect the U.S. to our neighbor, Canada.(bring your passport) Calais is the shopping center of eastern Washington County and has many amenities including a hospital, several churches, library, swimming pool, food and retail stores, and restaurants. A boat launch is available 2 miles south of the cabin. Kayaks can be launched directly onto the beach. Deep sea fishing and whale watching are available in Eastport 20 miles(32km) to the south. The St. Croix Country Club in Calais, 9 holes, is the eastern most golf course in the U.S.A. There are three courses near-by in Canada. The St. Croix River next to the cabin is salt water and has the greatest rise and fall of tides in the continental U.S. averaging 28 feet every 6 hours.(approx. 1 inch per minute) One can swim in the water but it is quite cool. There are several lakes in the area for swimming and great bass and perch fishing. On clear nights, star gazing is excellent since there is no light pollution in the area. The full moon rises over Canada to the southeast and is quite spectacular. Being in the cabin at high tide makes one feel like they are in a cruise ship cabin but without the motion. “You can sail with Captain Morgan and never leave dry land.” Rates are $1490.00 per week. This total ($1490.00) includes 9% Maine tax and the $400.00 security deposit. To secure your booking you must pay $945.00. Once I receive the $945.00 WITH your signed lease agreement, I will save your week(s) and update my availability calendar to reflect that those dates are no longer available for rent. The remaining $545.00 is due 30 days before your arrival date. The security deposit will be refunded after inspection on departure day and no damage has been done. Payment may be made with a personal check.
  • This is the best place in all the land. I almost do not have words for the amazingness that is the Captains Cabin as well as its host, Captain Louis. The view is spectacular. I became truly relaxed faster here than any other place I've ever vacationed. The cabin is clean, the bed is comfortable. Staying here was like coming home. Captain Louis and his son Chris were so kind to us and taught us so much about the history of the area and lobsters. Do yourself a favor and stay here. Without question this is the best of the best.

    Karen2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Captain's Cabin is a treasure and Louis is a prince. The cabin is new, tastefully appointed, and comfortable. The views from every window are stunning. Louis was an exceptional host; he was friendly, a wealth of information, and interesting to talk with, but he was also very respectful of our privacy. We will be back.

    Elizabeth2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • You will not be disappointed, just perfect and a view to die for and host who is amazing. Booking the cabin is a no brainer.....(URL HIDDEN) of the best finds on Air B and B so far.

    Mark2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a quiet get-away or a stop on the way to/from Canada. The cabin is only three years old so everything is pristine. Comfortable, supportive bed, Weber gas grill, all the kitchen supplies you need. WiFi is great, cable TV with all the channels you need. Be careful with cell phone as it will pick up the Canadian tower across the river so you could be stuck with international roaming charges. The views are amazing as cabin sits right on the river's edge. At high tide you almost feel like you are in the river. The tides are about 28 feet around here so you can literally just sit back and watch the tide go in and out. This is a rather remote area so there are really no "fine dining" restaurants in the area. Cook at home is really your best option. Eastport is about 20 min down the road and is worth a visit but don't go on a Monday or Tuesday as many shops and restaurants are closed. Eastport is probably best option if you want to eat out though, but don't expect haute cuisine. I was lucky enough to go out with Louis and Billy lobster trapping. Interesting if you have never done it. So if you are looking for a quiet getaway don't hesitate. Louis is a great host and even brought me an avocado stuffed with fresh`crab one evening, which he gets in abundance in the lobster traps.

    Bjorn2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • If you like the rocky shore, the sound of the ocean, lobster, crab and an outstanding host then this is the place for you. Relax, read a book and listen to the Loons. A beautiful place to stay.

    Jennifer2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place for two people looking to relax and unwind. We had all the comforts of home with a wonderful view. Great walking on the rocky coast at low tide. Captain Louis was a fabulous host and made us feel right at home. We will be back.

    Suzanne2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • It is the perfect place to go and relax! The views are gorgeous! Watching the dramatic change in the tide, bird watching, walking along the shore at low tide, going out and learning about lobster trapping, and evening campfires are what this place is all about! Captain Louie's hospitality makes the experience that much better! We HIGHLY recommend staying here and hope to be back!

  • We were really impressed with the house and the town of St. Stephen. We had the large very comfortable home to ourselves. The hostess Agnes had been very helpful (we texted each other). It was so amazing.

    Tarquin 2015-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't meet Agnes but clear arrangements were made for our very late arrival. There was nothing to do in this little town. Far away from everything we wanted to do so we only managed to see St. Andrews and St. John and the Hopewell Rocks. The house is beautiful and extremely large. Beds were extremely uncomfortable, felt like cardboard was under the mattresses. If you want a quiet place, not doing anything, this is perfect. Large porch with table and chairs. Calaise, Maine is a very inviting town a few blocks away (just walk over the border). Tim Hortons a few blocks away.

  • Agnes gave lots of helpful information. The house was in a lovely quiet location and easy to find. Beautiful yard and flowers. Attractive inside with interesting eclectic decor. Bedrooms upstairs were as described, beds were comfortable. We were extremely happy with the accommodations. We walked to Carmen's diner for a delicious dinner with wonderful homemade pie for dessert. Perfect stay and would highly recommend!

My place is close to Historical St. Andrew's-by-the-Sea, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, outdoors, adventure and minutes from the Maine Border. You’ll love my place because of the location, the outdoors space, and the ambiance. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), and big groups.
  • We had an absolutely fantastic stay! The location is stunning and the house large, comfortable, and well equipped. The host was relaxed and very helpful in every respect. Great place for a family vacation.

  • Mari-Oaks is a comfortable, charming cottage, the perfect home for my family for a few days. It is oldish and rustic and obviously well built and that's exactly why it feels like home. The floors are wood and don't squeek. The 4 bedrooms are virtually soundproof (we had a baby in our group). And then there is the living area with a view of the water. And Margo has been great, responding patiently to all my queries, silly and serious, within minutes.

    judi2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Mari-oaks far exceeded our expectations. It was very comfortable with ample space for 9 adults and the location on the water is very scenic. Although, we were visiting under sad circumstances (funeral), finding this wonderful cottage where the family could stay all together was a blessing. No one had any complaints and I would stay again or recommend without hesitation.

    New2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place! The cottage is cozy and the setting is spectacular. The kids were playing, looking for little crabs during low tide and kayaking during high tide. Super relaxing and very spacious. We would recommend to anyone.

  • Mari-Oaks is a perfect getaway for families. It's comfortable, spacious, kid-friendly, and the views from the main living area and yard are spectacular. There's a great set-up for campfires, and lots of outdoor seating areas for soaking up sunsets, watching seabirds, and keeping an eye on the kids while they hunt for beach treasures. Loads of interior space and a fully-equipped kitchen. Margo is an excellent and responsive host. Thank you so much for sharing your marvelous place with us!

  • Lori and her husband were great! The house was everything we expected and more. It was the perfect getaway, and we would happily return!

    Lindsay2016-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our family, 2 year old and 3 month old, stayed in the house on the lake for 4 nights in early August. The house is tastefully decorated, quiet and exceptionally clean. Our kids enjoyed the sandy beach that leads gradually into the lake. The water was quite warm about 76 F or 24 C. We enjoyed the deck overlooking the beach area and able to see our kids plus the ability to swim in the lake at any time. We enjoyed the large deck for breakfast and lunch, in the evening the mosquitoes made dinner less enjoyable. The beds were very comfortable, the washer and dryer was great with two small children. Our daughter enjoyed the new toys that previous guests and Lori left at the house for others to enjoy. The house had all the necessary kitchen utensils and much more. We enjoyed the pantry with food items left by other guest that we felt comfortable using and adding our extras for other guess to enjoy. We enjoyed the personal touches by Lori. She left chocolate and wine in the refrigerator for use to enjoy. The instructions on how to get to the house were very good. Lori actually picked us up at the Irving and drove with us to the house. Overall, this house felt like your own camp.

    Georg2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lori's place was beautiful, clean and quiet. My parents and I loved our visit here and would definitely come back. It is very close to Route 1 + 3 and she left lots of information and recommendations for things to do in the area. Since there is no internet or TV, it is extra easy to disconnect from technology and reconnect with family and friends. We played board games, cooked meals together, and just relaxed reading a book on the porch.

    Lindsay2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lori's cottage is everything you wish for your vacation. Perfectly suited for a family of four, very clean and well appointed. The kitchen is fully equipped and the BBQ made our meals easier and very enjoyable. Lori was readily available for any questions. I should add that she is a very talented decorator, you will love all the wonderful details throughout the house. I haven't even mentioned the lake yet - what a peaceful sight, and the canoe and kayaks are a great feature! We saw the resident loon and a beaver that had an evening commute across the lake. Highly recommended.

  • Beautiful cottage with an amazing vista. Terry & Lori are friendly, accommodating and very gracious. Thoroughly enjoyed swimming, canoeing and kayaking. And a bonus is the neighbors are very welcoming.

  • This is the place to be to relax and just hang. Have some people over sometimes but make some alone timee because it is just so .The lake is big enough to do some exploring. We saw beaver and a loon. The house is roomy with five adults , and the large deck was well used . The local country roads are paved and a great for biking and you can easily do distance swimming on the lake which rarely has a boat on it. I wanted to be outside for the entire week, and I pretty much did. Left the place for 1 day trip to Grand Manan and half day for a wedding but really didn't want to leave at all.

  • Close your eyes and picture an idyllic, peaceful getaway... Lori and Terry's piece of paradise will match that picture perfectly! In a setting nothing short of spectacular, their tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean cottage is everything we had hoped for and our family immediately felt right at home. If you're looking for a private, quiet getaway to connect with nature, reconnect with loved ones, and disconnect from the outside world, this is the place.

  • We had such a wonderful time at Lori's beautiful cottage! The property is even more beautiful than described. Lori was always available and extremely helpful throughout the full stay. If you are in the area and looking to relax and escape reality I would highly recommend her place!! We also went whale watching in St. Andrews which was not too far away. Thank you once again Lori for allowing us to create amazing memories while staying in your home!

  • Karen's B and B was very convenient for us as we were crossing into Canada the next day and she is 5 minutes from the customs station. Her house has old charm, is comfortable and clean. Her breakfast was great and she welcomed us warmly.

  • Karen and Vincent were great. They made sure all our needs were met during our stay at the B&B. We were making our way to Canada and their place was conveniently located for our needs. The B&B is well kept and comfortable.

  • Karen and Vincent run a very comfortable B&B, perfect for a stop just before crossing into Canada as well as for exploring the outer reaches of the Maine Coast -- Eastport, Lubec, Campobello Island. Delicious and massive breakfasts. Comfortable and specious room. We were lucky enough to have the floor and bathroom to ourselves.Good conversations. Highly recommend.

  • Karen gave me a warm welcome when I arrived. Her hospitality throughout the stay was great. Room had Victorian charm and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was always delicious, even served home made apple sauce she made from trees in the yard. Perfect and I will stay here again.

    ana2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, cute inn with a helpful and friendly inn keeper. We stayed for one night and travelled across the border into Canada for dinner. The inn was minutes from the border and Karen was very helpful in getting us directions and restaurant options. We had a delicious breakfast waiting the next morning that could feed an army :) Only down fall is that on cloudy days the old paper mill gives off an odor and there isn't too much to do.

    Lindsay2012-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Where can you sleep in a big comfy bed, have late night conversations, eat a nice freshly prepared breakfast and shop at the same place? With Karen at her lovely, happy, clean and warm bnb. Karen goes over and above to make her guests welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Can't wait to stay again.

  • It was great to visit Karen in Calais - she was a wonderful host and made me feel extremely welcome. She also made one of the best breakfasts I've ever had! It was super to visit this part of Maine - if you are in the area do head down to Eastport and Quoddy Head State Park too - so very beautiful.

Lakeside living. Nearest neighbour is about a mile away. Nothing but you and the loons. Power and a well, No Internet or TV, but there is 3G. Kayaks and boats for swimming. Hottub and Woodstove - Lake is beautiful for swimming, fishing or just floating around. Very private and very chill
Unique? Well you can see the fish out the window and nobody ever shows up to borrow sugar ... Quiet, solitude, relaxed ... Excellent trail for walking or mountain biking goes right by cottage - near the Rossmount Inn (excellent dining) Algonquin golf course and St Andrews by the Sea - resort town. Bath tub and shower, flush toilet, lawn suitable for tenting, all the comforts of home, but out in the wilderness. Wake up to the sounds of the lake or just stay in bed ... rustic but with power and good drinking water from a well ... if you are looking to get caught up on your office work - there is NO WIFI- and deliberately so. Southern exposure gives great sunsets and midday sun.
    No neighbours
  • Very tranquil spot. Beauty sunsets. Close to town. Nice lake to swim in.

    Mike2016-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kurt was most gracious in communication prior to our arrival. We had a potential emergency that would preclude us from being able to make it & Kurt was extremely responsive and flexible with the circumstances. We were able to make it & had an excellent time. The space was stunning - even better than the photos and the lake takes your breath away. We especially loved the hot tub late at night (~11P) with every light turned off so we could stare at the stars. We also used the canoe/kayaks to fish and caught several smaller rock bass (threw them back) & saw larger bass in the water. I've never seen such clear water in a lake before. We have a small truck so entering/exiting the property was easy, but I could see how a smaller car or one low to the ground may have trouble leaving the driveway in one spot on the way out. All in all - a perfect getaway & I would love to return in the future.

    Gerilyn2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was wonderful. We loved hearing the loons in the morning and enjoyed wonderful sunsets on the deck.

  • We had an incredible stay at Kurt's Chateau. The lake is beautiful and the cabin very inviting and comfortable. We would absolutely come back.

    Scott2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place is in a great location with access to a pond. Good quality Kayaks are provided. The place allows for privacy and isolation, however, the town of St.Andrews is just 15 minutes away for when you feel some cabin fever.

    Marco2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Chateau Chamcook is a magical place! We loved the view, the quietness, the nature all around... The great deck overlooking the lake was a great place for having a glass of wine, doing some reading or simply gazing at the sunset. We enjoyed the hot tub, the wood stove and the hamac. Unfortunately, we did not get to meet Kurt, but he made sure we had everything we need and had all he information necessary for a perfect stay. Thank you Kurt for sharing this wonderful place! We'll certainly be back!

    Maxime2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kurt's place was fantastic. The cottage is tranquil and the lake is beautiful. We had an incredible time and Kurt was helpful and prompt with communications to allow for a seamless arrival and departure. Well worth the trip.

    Max2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • My stay here was great overall! The lake was magical and even though we had lots we wanted to do in NB, it was hard to leave the lake house. Kurt was responsive and available, despite some challenges with our having limited service due to our American phones and no wifi at the house. We had one incident with the stove sparking, but Kurt was very responsive and came out that day to fix it. I would also add that we were initially startled to find multiple cameras recording on the porch, hot tub, and inside the main sitting room of the house, but Kurt was flexible to discussing those with us, as he used them as a security measure, and ultimately to showing us how to turn them off when we were in the home. Even with the few bumps, this beautiful lakeside spot was worth the stay. If you're looking for a beautiful outdoors, only about a ten minute drive from Saint Andrews, this is a great place.

A 12 year old log home on Long Lake in Northfield Maine. The home is very private on 42 acres with 1,200 feet of frontage. There are 4 kayaks, one canoe, ten bikes &a host of other activities. A loft with 6 beds, 2 other bedrooms, small cabin
This is incredibly remote and quiet.

  • By far the best stay I have had in a long time. Owners are very helpful, and very nice people, they helped us out with anything and everything we needed. Home had all the essentials needed and more!. Great place to bring family and friends. The lake is gorgeous, as well as the home. The fire pit is great with plenty of wood to burn. Plenty of activities on the property that will keep you entertained for the week! The town isn't a far ride so if you need anythin like food, water, etc there is no need to worry. Definitely an experience my friends and I won't forget!

Beautiful, pristine spring water lake, less than 5%developed. 30 miles to Canadian border, 15 miles to Machias Maine, 25 miles to Eastport Maine. Quiet, private road. 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom, year-round cottage. Excellent for swimming and boating.
Spacious home that looks out on Eastern and Northern section of Cathance Lake from it's East-West sun exposure. This lake is surrounded by natural habit and is home to Atlantic Landlock Salmon and small-mouth bass. It also has the sounds of many beautiful loons, frogs, deer, moose, and crickets.
I love the quiet, peaceful, clean air, the sounds of the loons, and the smell of the pine forest.
