“Roberta’s literally put Bushwick on the map: before Roberta’s very few people were venturing out to this corner of Brooklyn. Opened in 2008, Roberta’s still has the best pizza around. They don’t take reservations and you should be prepared to wait. Our favorite item on the menu is the Bee Sting Pizza, featuring spicy soppressata with a drizzle of honey.”

“Best restaurant in the neighborhood, one of the best restaurants in the city! Get the capacolla pizza or anything else; you can't go wrong! This place started small (and I was one of the first customers!) and now it takes up half the block! It's still good though and you'll agree: Saraghina is a great restaurant! ”

“Obama's favorite restaurant...need I say more. This iconic restaurant is the brain child of Chef Marcus Samuelson and Andrew Chapman in the heart of Harlem. Located in the heart of Harlem, Red Rooster Harlem serves comfort food that celebrates the roots of American cuisine and the neighborhood’s diverse culinary traditions. We seek to share the story of Harlem with our guests and offer a space that celebrates local artists, musicians and culinary talents alike. We embrace today’s Harlem with a spirit of inclusiveness and community by hiring our family of staff from within the community, inspiring better eating through neighborhood cooking classes, and buying from local purveyors. Named in honor of the legendary Harlem speakeasy that attracted neighborhood folk, jazz greats, and noteworthy figures of the 20th century from Adam Clayton Powell Jr. to Nat King Cole and James Baldwin, we’re privileged to share our namesake with the original Red Rooster. Co-Creators Andrew Chapman and Marcus Samuelsson have long wanted to open a restaurant that would have a positive impact on the neighborhood’s culinary landscape and its community at-large. ”

“The BEST pastrami in the world!! Drawback: it's pricey. Katz’s has stood on Houston Street since 1888, and the pastrami alone is a New York icon. The expansive, cafeteria-style dining room is almost always bustling, and diners have to know how to navigate the system. Get in line, remember to tip the slicer (they might give you an extra piece to snack on), and no matter what, don’t lose that ticket.”

Fried Chicken Restaurant

“Peaches Hot House is one of the few places in NYC that serves up Nashville-style hot chicken. Orders are served traditionally atop a a slice of white bread, a pile of pickles, and a choice of side, like macaroni and cheese, grilled broccoli, or grits (available crispy or creamy). Other options at this casual bar and restaurant include various Southern comfort dishes, but most people are here for the tear-inducing chicken.”

“Craving good soul food? I got you. Sylvia’s Restaurant, the “The Queen of Soul Food”, was founded by Sylvia Woods, in 1962. Established in the historic village of Harlem, Sylvia’s is a community favorite, known as the world’s kitchen. Serving authentic soul food for over 55 years, this icon remains a culinary must-visit for foodies. Come visit for yourself, and experience why Presidents, celebrities, and Harlemites alike call Sylvia’s home. Owned & Operated by The Woods Family.”
