  • Staying in the Scriptorium is absolutely magical! My mum and I loved it so much and are already planning to make another trip back. The architecture of the abbey is stunning and it had everything we needed to feel at home. Well stocked kitchen and comfy bed too. Easy stroll to the local pubs, chip shop, and grocer.

  • The apartment was beautiful in a fantastic building with great facilities. Andrea's is a great host and was very attentive.

    Dan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We came for a long weekend in January and were not disappointed! The Scriptorium was chic and comfortably furnished. We loved all the original features. The apartment was just a little skip away from the pool in the chapel. The pool was lovely and warm, quiet and super clean. Lovely view from in the pool too. The grounds and surroundings alone were stunning, so we took a Loch Ness cruise while the weather was good to take it all in, which we picked up from just outside the grounds. We had great communication and a really helpful welcome and tour. There was info on the history of the abbey and ideas of what to do locally in the apartment. Would highly recommend a stay at the Scriptorium without hesitation and would love to go again!

  • Staying at this Airbnb is a once in a lifetime experience. A former Abbey on the shores of Loch Ness, this Airbnb has every modern amenity. Hospitable staff greet you and give you a tour of the building and amenities upon your arrival. The Airbnb is magical and you can tell every piece of decor was chosen with care by Andreas. Location is great for taking a boat cruise of Loch Ness and exploring Ft. Augustus. Having a restaurant on property was a delightful bonus! Highly recommend if you want an Airbnb that is a vacation highlight!

Heaste is a little hidden gem situated on the shores of Loch Eishort, 5 miles along a single track road from Broadford. There are several working crofts and creel fishing boats working from the loch. Heaste continues many of the older traditions of Skye such as peat cutting. There is a sea eagle nesting in the trees across the loch. There are walks to Boreraig (a highland clearance village). There are stunning views over to the Sleat peninsula and knoydart.
  • Nicky was outstanding and so was her bothy. She was more than accommodating gave us recommendations where to eat every night and even turned the heater on before our arrival. The bothy itself was perfection and the best stay we had our entire trip.

  • The Skye Bothy was amazing. It had all the amenities you could want, was lovely and warm, even in February with amazing views. Kirsty was wonderful and extremely helpful and accommodating. Thank you so much for a beautiful stay, Bec and Josh x

    India2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The little bothy is a lovely, unique place to stay. It's beautiful and Nicky's hospitality was the best part - she was always reachable via text for any questions (and she was nice enough to welcome us with a bottle of Prosecco and call restaurants both evenings we were there so we knew where we could go and eat - both places were SO yummy as well). Visiting in February was not the best month (we had Storm Dennis raging around us and the weather was mostly terrible), but we were snug in the bothy, even if the heating was a little weird to regulate (even though Nicky clearly showed us how to use it, we kept over/under heating the place - our fault though!). Visiting when it's mostly good weather would definitely be divine - the long-ish drive from the main road in Broadford to the bothy was a little scary at times when there was heavy fog, but all OK if you drive slowly and carefully. It's amazing how thoughtfully Nicky has laid out the place - it's tiny, but has so many amenities and even some little games (which we took advantage of) and a kitchen. Highly recommended.

  • Fantastic little spot on the isle of skye. Everything about the cabin is perfect!Lovely, warm and with fantastic views!

    Thomas2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect little getaway for yourself and another! Gorgeous views and a tasteful little bothy that'll keep you warm from the cold that Scotland can bring. Highly recommend to anyone that wants to see more of what Skye has to offer. Nicky is also a wonderful host.

The Blacksmith's bothy is a traditional black house with thick lime washed stone walls. These compliment a modern kitchen and wood burning stove. Set in a peaceful location, the building is over 100 years old. It is surrounded by croft land and spectacular cliff top walks. Situated very close to Spar cave and 5 minutes drive to Elgol. A private, screened deck area and hot tub is adjacent to the bothy with sea views through a wooded glade. Perfect as a romantic retreat.
The Blacksmith's bothy is a renovated traditional old blackhouse bursting with character. You will find a bright clean space containing a brand new kitchen, a dining area, rocking chair, state of the art CD player music system with a wide variety of music, a battery operated DVD player and selection of films as well as a beautiful bespoke day bed so you can be cosy and comfortable in front of the wood burning stove whether having a romantic evening or relaxing during the day. The house is decorated to reflect the owners passions for art. Some of the prints are the owners own work. There is also a display of blacksmith tools from his own workshop. Creative workshops are available by request if booked in advance but the bothy is a completely private space for you to enjoy and relax. The kitchen is equipped for you to fully self cater and contains a microwave, a fridge and two electric hobs. There is also a kettle , toaster and a cafetière for coffee. You will not however find an oven, a grill or a freezer. We want to make you aware of this so you can plan your shopping. There is a small ice box which would fit one or two items only. Adjacent to the bothy you will find a raised deck area with a wood fired hot tub lit with fairy lights and optional insect screening. Also you can enjoy dining out at a table with two chairs and a bbq. A selection of wetsuits are available to borrow should you wish to swim in the sea at the bottom of the croft.
Glasnakille is a spectacular secluded village in South Skye with commanding views over Loch Slapin towards the Sleat Peninsula. There are also views of the small isles of Eigg and Rum nearby. `The mountains of knoydart can be seen in the distance. There are very quiet roads on which it is possible to walk or jog. You can walk the coastal path to Kilmarie which then takes you into Camasunary bay and the heart of the Cuillin . It is possible to have a quiet stroll or a big adventure without even taking the car. However Elgol is a five minute drive away with its famous boat trips to Loch Coruisk. Stunning views of the Cuillin can be seen along with walks to Prince Charlie's cave and amazing honeycomb cliffs near the pier. Glasnakille is home of spar cave, a 50metre long cave which can only be accessed at low tide. It has a fascinating flowstone staircase contained within it. Our nearest supermarket is 15 miles away. The co operative supermarket in Broadford is open till ten pm. This is also where you will find a 24 hour petrol station. However our area is remote and peaceful and there are no shops or restaurants or pubs within walking distance. We believe this just adds to its charm however. Bookings can be made for evening meals at Coruisk house in Elgol but these need to be made well in advance.
  • James is an amazing host, so friendly and hospitable. Location is beautiful and the bothy is stunning. 5 star🌟

    Charlotte2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The bothy is a beautiful, quaint and cosy space situated in a remote yet accessible location. The surrounding scenery and trails are breathtaking and the wood burning stove and hot tub made this an unforgettable stay. James was quick to respond to any questions and was extremely friendly and inviting. Highly recommended.

  • Great place to stay! Lovely views and plenty of local walks near, very peaceful and relaxing. Was good to have the log burner with the cold weather would definately go back.

    Lisa2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic, secluded place to stay in an out of the way place with lovely scenery. Log burner was lovely after being out in the rain all day! James was a great host and very friendly, his directions were easy to follow and we found it with no problem. Go well prepared and stock up with food, nearest shops are 30 mins away in winter months! Would recommend for a restful, away from it all, few days.

    Jane2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • James's place was wonderful. We wanted peace and quiet and that was exactly what we got. We arrived in the dark so didn't see much of the view from the drive down. But the following day was a real treat! The directions to the Bothy were clear and precise and we found it in the dark with very little trouble. Logs and kindling were plentiful, so each evening we had a fire and heated up the hot tub twice. The shower and toilet were very clean and only a short walk away from the Bothy. A great place to stay, fantastic location and well worth the drive from the village.

  • This was a wonderful stay. Sue was wonderful, in every sense of the word. Unfortunately my stay was cut short by he weather but Sue was always there to offer advice. She offered routes to take, weather updates and general advice. I would definitely come back again.

    Adrian2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The best place to visit the beautiful Isle of Eigg! You’ll find yourself at home in this authentic bothy!

    Romain2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful base to explore the quieter side of Eigg - with the best views over to Rum. The bothy is super cozy, a great bolt hole when the wind gets up and for the long winter nights. We wish we could have stayed for weeks. Thank you!

    Jack2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were very excited about Sue’s place and it did not disappoint. It’s a comfortable, warm and cozy place to stay with the compost toilet really close by. The views are stunning and you are close to beautiful walks. There’s lots of useful information in the bothy about things to do and Sue and Neil took care of us well- transporting our heavy bags and getting us tickets to the New Years ceilidh! It was easy to cook and nice to have a shower close by. They also kept us right with changed boat times and when the local shops were open. I would highly recommend staying here.

    Clare2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in the bothy exceeded all expectations. It took us 5+ hours on the ferry from Mallaig due to an amended timetable, but it was still worth it. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome by Charlie the island's taxi driver. The bothy was perfectly situated with excellent views in all directions - providing a wonderful escape from modern life. Walks from the doorstep took us to dramatic clifftops and scenic beaches. Would love to come again, for longer! Thanks to all at Eigg Organics.

    Emma2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place is pure beauty. The view of the hills, cliffs and the sea is breathtaking, the animals around make the place so welcoming, not to mention the people there! Everyone is incredibly friendly, Neil picked us up and showed us around, talked to us and gave us tips! The island is definitely worth more than one visit and we would always return to this cosy, extraordinary place! Communication is uncomplicated, accomodation is super clean and tidy, no negative points to add!

    Meret2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for being such a special part of our honeymoon. We felt so close to nature and so cozy in our unique little bothy. We would love to come back!

  • This is an awesome place to stay. Sue and Neil are very friendly and accommodating and helped us have a wonderful trip. The bothy is a fantastic rustic place to stay and helped us get back to basics.

Even if my boyfriend is quite tall, it wasn’t too much of an issue and he managed to shower and get around comfortably. We loved the little touches such as the highland cow and purple theme, which added personality to the stay. We really had a great time at the pod and would love to stay again!

  • One of the most beautiful places we've ever been. Very comfy and stunning views, perfect location for day trips. We were not so lucky with the weather, however, sitting at the dining table and being able to watch the changing weather at the loch and mountains was terrific. Would love to come back sometimes. Yvonne's mother welcomed us warmly and checked inbetween if everything is ok. Clear recommendation!

Kitchen is more than fully equipped, it simly has pretty much everything to cook breakfasts, dinner, prepare meals. Powerful heating, so you are never feel cold. Overall spotless clean and great value I would say, its much bigger then the photos/idea of cottage suggests. The hosts are attentive and reply immidiatelly. To sum it up a perfect stay!

The cottage is right by the shore of loch Duich, with outstanding views. It is close to the beautiful Eilean Donan castle and a hop into Isle of Skye! The cottage was warm and comfortable, with everything you need for cooking. And also very clean. We were very happy and would highly recommend this place.

  • Can’t fault the location, awesome views and easy access to scenic routes and Isle of Skye. Good value. So good we will be returning later this year.

    Stefan2019-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place. Very secluded and private. The view from the living room table of the Loch is superb. If it's useful for anyone, we were able to charge our electric car easily through the window.

    Conor2018-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice stay close to the nature and with a reception of an extreme kindness on the part of the Mom of Yvonne, the close house of the loch offers a marvelous frame to leave to the discovery of the surroundings, to hike and to benefit from the calm. Imposing landscapes and small roads (very small) all often under the sun, a very beautiful week.

  • Would highly recommend staying here. Great hosts, good communication and easy check-in. The views from the living room were stunning, the photos do not do it justice. The house was very clean, had everything we needed and more, as well as extra personal touches. Excellent location for exploring, with loads to see and do in the surrounding area. We had a great, relaxing break and will definitely be back.

  • I can't praise this AirBnB enough. The hosts Jimmy and Caroline are friendly and always available but never intrusive. They even went as far as to invite me over for some whisky on my final night. The location is absolutely fantastic. So handy for Skye but also reasonable driving distance to Applecross, to Fort William and even over to Loch Ness. The view from the bedroom, bathroom and living room is stunning - you'll struggle to find a better unobstructed view from a holiday apartment anywhere in the country. The place is very clean and warm and has a well equipped kitchen with plenty of supplies and space meaning you can cook proper meals during your time there. All in all, a perfect stay and I would happily return again.

Welcome to Otter Bay, a newly built larch-clad house which we designed and commissioned. The location, beside a tidal loch in the mountains of Kintail is stunning and peaceful. It is set back on a peninsular where some days the only sounds are of wading birds. Guests like to visit Skye from here, but many are amazed at the beauty locally in Lochalsh. Our position is ideal for hiking, mountain walking, cycling and kayaking.
The "The Signal Box" is a tiny box room (with space for only one person) within the owner's model railway room. It is situated upstairs, where there is an adjacent private shower room, wardrobe and sitting area at a desk.
It is a small remote neighbourhood, four miles from the nearest shop or pub and twelve miles from the Skye Bridge. If you like peace and quiet, away from the tourist routes, this is the place for you.
  • A superb welcome in a magnificent setting with a view of the loch whatever the room of the house!

    Rémi2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • It was absolutely wonderful this welcome, very warm, full of exchanges, Keith and Beverly are genuinely benevolent towards their guests, of an availability never met before ... proof also of a sincere intention to receive, the lunch which is sensational , there are all the ingredients of the English breakfast, never seen such preparation full of attentions ... You leave them therefore having the impression of having lived a hell of a good time full of humanity .... and the setting is quite simply fantastic .... at the foot of a lake, with a magnificent view of the mountains that border it .... what a chance again tell me I have fallen on them ... so I highly recommend this accommodation ..

    Emmanuel2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Probably the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in - Keith and Beverly could not be more gracious hosts, between the last-minute booking, tea upon arriving, laundry, SAUNA!!, breakfast, suggestions for exploring the local area (nearby coral beach and plockton inn are musts!), and warm chats. They have a gorgeous new home situated in an even more stunning spot on loch long. Perfect for solo travelers or anyone making their way up the Scotland’s west coast. Can’t recommend highly enough! Thanks for everything, Keith and Beverly!!

  • It's a great place, gorgeous location. Very lovely and wonderful place to stay. Absolutely clean, great and delicious breakfast. Lovely host, who are very helpful and giving me the best tips for what to do in the area. Both hosts and her cat are very pleasant. I can totaly recommend it in any case! Thank you for the wonderful time and great experience!

  • Absolutely gorgeous place. Keith and Beverly are amazing hosts and were so welcoming.

    Charles2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay with Keith and Beverley! They are extremely welcoming from arrival and make you feel part of the home. Their home is stylish and comfortable. Guests have a nice, large bedroom and a private bathroom. There is a great open kitchen/living area for socialising + a sauna! The location is stunning, on the beach of a sea loch overlooking a couple of Corbetts. Keith and Beverley can provide great info on local hiking trails and the best pubs to visit. This is also a perfect base to explore Skye and Eilean Donan from. And their Scottish breakfast is 10/10. Perfect!

Angels’ Share is an architect designed contemporary cottage over looking Knock Bay and the ruins of Knock Castle. There is spacious accommodation for two people, with room for two children or two “small adults” on a sofa bed. The cottage is situated on the Sleat peninsula known as the Garden of Skye. The cottage is not far from from the Skye Bridge and the mainland ferry ports. It makes a great base for exploring the whole of Skye's beautiful scenery.
There is electric heating throughout (under floor in the shower room) and a wood burning stove for those colder evenings. A welcome pack and an initial supply of fuel for the stove. We allow pets by arrangement.
The cottage is next to Skye newest Whisky Distillery (Torabhaig) which is certainly worth a visit. The drive to the cottage from either the ferry port (Armadale) or the Skye Bridge takes you through stunning countryside with magnificent views across the Sound of Sleat to the mountains of the Scottish mainland.
  • John and Mhairi were amazing hosts. Angels Share is a gem within a beautiful island. Their thoughtful were greatly appreciated and made the cottage a pleasure to stay in.

    Maxine2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great accomodation, everything you need and quiet relaxing place. John provides lots of lovely personal touches that make you feel very welcome. We stayed for 4 nights and it was the perfect base from which to explore Skye.

  • John and Mhairi have created a fantastic space with the most thoughtful touches to create a home when exploring the beautiful isle of skye. Nice and tucked away, the place is modern, amazingly clean and stylish throughout with a real Scottish feel. By far the nicest Airbnb ever stayed in and would recommend to anybody.

    Matt2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! Beautifully decorated, warm & comfortable, stunning location & full of lovely little touches which made us feel like we were staying in a fancy boutique hotel! John & Mhairi were wonderfully welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfy, and the house was equipped with everything from coffee maker to an Alexa. Very close to Torabhaig distillery, the beach & the ruins of Knock Castle, so stuff to do close by. Couldn't quite believe the quality of this place, thanks so much for our amazing holiday!

    Ben2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a very chilled 3 night stay at Angels Share. The accommodation is immaculate and kitted out with everything you’d possibly need. An ideal base for exploring the beautiful island of Skye. We loved sitting by the fire and chilling while watching the storm outside. John and Mhairi were excellent hosts giving a friendly check-in and thoughtful welcome pack. We’ll definitely be back.

    Robert2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Angels Share. The weather let us down (thanks Storm Ciara) but the cottage was a beautiful base from which to have windy rejuvenating walks on the beach, great food at the nearby Am Praban bar. The wood burning stove and welcome pack were much appreciated when we were wet and cold :) we loved our weekend away and would definitely stay again. Dog friendly too!

    Becca2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Angels Share. John and Mhairi were excellent hosts who gave us complete space and privacy to enjoy their accommodation but we knew they were right there if we needed them, and we didn’t! Angels Share has all you could want or need and more, it’s packed with thoughtful and homely touches, providing everything to connect you with the modern world but also everything to occupy you if you want to disconnect - the best of both worlds! We have already been recommending Angels to friends and family and would recommend it to everyone. We can’t wait to return.

    Melissa2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend :) It was a pleasure to spend these days with my wife in John and Mhairi’s cottage which is equipped with absolutely everything that could possibly be needed. The house is very nice, clean and tidy with a fireplace which makes you feel cosy. It is located near to the store and about 40 minutes to Portree. We loved this place because it feels like home away from home, was made with passion and attention to every detail. We are grateful for the help and warm welcome! Thank you!

The property provides all you need for a self-catering break with a separate kitchen and living room with a dining area. Popular tourist spots close to the property include Eilean Donan Castle, The Falls of Glomach, the Pictish Brochs at Glenelg and numerous hills and tracks suitable for walkers and climbers. The villages of Kyle and Plockton are approximately 20 miles away.
  • Beautiful accommodation with beautiful views. A place for relaxation, resting and recharging your batteries, with plenty of places to go and see or do if you wish

  • Clean, well equipped, cosy accommodation for 2 people in a peaceful hamlet with the most magnificent views over Loch Duich. Highly recommended.

    Mike2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little cottage with a beautiful view looking directly out on to Loch Duich. We stayed there for four days and it was a perfect base to explore nearby (Eilean Donan Castle, Kyle of Lochalsh, Isle of Skye, Plockton) and further afield (Ullapool, Loch Ness, Inverness). Our first visit to Scotland and thoroughly recommended.

  • Anne’s place is soooo clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay so much i wanted to extend an extra day but she’s fully booked. The bed is really comfortable, and the entire apartment is spacious with nice layout. The view from the living room to the lake was amazing, i also spotted porpoise and otter. Honestly one of the day during my stay i just felt like staying home and enjoy the surroundings. The apartment is also dog friendly which is a huge plus for me. Thanks again Anne!

  • Magnificent ever changing view. Make sure you have time just to sit there and watch the loch! Clean and adequate facilities , thought fully appointed and everything you need. Lovely walking beside the loch and on trails around, great drive to Corran and visit to their community hall - with dinner at Glenelg inn. Will need to come back and catch the otters next time ( do take binoculars).

    Hilary2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Probably one of the best views of any airbnb we have stayed in. The listing is a hidden gem just next to Isle of Skye. You will need a car to access as it is in a village next to loch Duich, but you will wake up to beautiful views of the Scottish highlands against the backdrop of a lake. A perfect place to explore western Highlands and surrounding, I would recommend this listing to everyone looking for a genuine Scottish experience.

A delightful little place to stay and newly finished in May 2019 'The Wee House' can be found right next door to our own (slightly bigger) house, 'Heisgeir'. We will be on hand just next door to give you a warm welcome and to ensure your stay with us, and in our area, is both enjoyable and peaceful. Being born and brought up in the area we hope our local knowledge will allow you make the most of your stay.
  • The Wee House more than lived up to our expectations and Murray could not have been more hospitable - greeting us personally on our arrival, taking the time to give us tips on local walks in the area and even lighting the wood burning stove. The house is in a fantastic location, with wonderful views all around. Inside, it's beautifully furnished, with everything you could possibly need. I would highly recommend a stay at The Wee House and definitely plan to return in the future.

    Gudrun2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • I think the fact Murray built this accommodation himself shines through in the design considerations made for guests. The property feels entirely private and has a fantastic mountain vista from the main-room. It is very well kitted out with mod-cons and surprisingly (for rural Scotland) fast wifi. The hosts clealy care about their guests as they left us fresh milk and tea bags etc; little touches like that can mean a lot. Murray himself gave us a warm welcome and was very hospitable. Its a great jumping-off point for Skye, but could also serve as a base for those wanting to knock off a few munros. Couldnt fault the place.

    Simon2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful home and great location. The attention to detail is incredible and it's spotlessly clean. It was so much better than we thought it would be and the pictures don't do it justice. Great value for money. We will be back!

  • Such a beautiful setting to be in and to wake up amongst the mountains. The Wee House is very well thought out with every attention to detail. Murray is a fantastic host.

    Claire2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Murray’s place is fantastic. We really recommend a stay here, great location. Everything was as explained and more. Superbly clean, well equipped kitchen and comfy bed. The photographs do not do the place justice. Communication with Murray was also excellent. Thoroughly recommend this place for a relaxing stay.

  • Great space to either have a cosy day in or explore the north west from.

    Sam2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The view from the house is spectacular and there are beautiful hikes nearby. The house itself is perfect; really well done with an amazing shower and wood burning fire. Murray is a first class host; friendly and welcoming, very responsive, and proactive in offering help. One of my most memorable stays anywhere. Thank you Murray.

Nice double bedroom in a rustic, tired, old (250 years) cottage. However still able to offer you a warm Highland welcome! Very secluded area set on our family farm. 7 mile narrow road in with beautiful views in the hamlet of Camusluinie, near Kyle of Lochalsh. A great place to unwind. No phones. No internet. No TV. Ideal base for exploring Skye Island (25 mins from bridge) and Donan Castle (18 mins). Fantastic walks including a short trek to the Whitefalls waterfall (Eas ban waterfall).
Tigh Iseabail is a rustic cottage in a remote location.Get away from the hectic tourist trail. All very basic and certainly not 5 star accommodation. However it is clean and warm with central heating. Overall an ideal place to chill.
There are many walks from right out the front door, with the difficulty ranging from easy to hard. These include a walk to the Falls of Glomach (Britain's highest) which takes approximately 6 hours. You can walk on any of the surrounding mountains but if you do, please remember to keep your dogs on a lead (particularly if sheep and lambs are grazing). Do note that we are not on the Isle of Skye but offer a peaceful alternative away from the main tourist route and you can reconnect with tourist route in 15 minutes.
  • Wonderful place! I wanted somewhere out of the way so I could get a little rest and relaxation and this was the most perfect place for that! And close enough that I could get out and see some of the greatness the highlands have to offer

  • The cottage is well equipped. It is easy to find and is a lovely warm place to stay. We enjoyed the local walks as there are several in the area. There is a TV (to use with DVDs), DVDs, and books to entertain. The kitchen has everything needed to cook with a good fridge freezer. Highly recommended especially for walkers.

  • Above all this cottage is warm and well heated, which is great when you arrive on a frosty November night and it's minus 3 outside. The host is friendly and helpful and lives close by. Good hot shower. I would certainly be happy to stay again.

  • We had a fantastic 4 days at the caravan. Jamie was a great host and the caravan was perfect for our family of 4. The caravan is in a breathtaking location, tranquil and right at the loch's edge. It was clean, comfortable and well-stocked. It's also a perfect base for going out and exploring the areas of Kyle of Localsh and Skye. Jamie went a step above and lent us some fishing gear for my husband and son to use- no fish caght but they had a great time trying. Thanks again Jamie, your place is a gem!

    Megan2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful quiet location by sea shore with great views, an otter came within feet of our window. Very convenient for hill walking. Sparkling clean, very well equipped kitchen, well designed and cosy lounge and dining area. Jamie was a very helpful host.

  • Jamie was an amazing host and was helpful from the beginning. He was very quick in responses and was very accommodating to us. We needed a place that was close to Skye and travelling with a toddler, wanted to make sure we were nearby. Not only was Jamie's caravan close, it also made us feel like we were at home as everything was included and all the facilities worked fine. The views across from the caravan were amazing and my daughter enjoyed seeing the birds and the tv which had satellite channels to satisfy her craving. Overall we all had an amazing time in this gem of a place and hope to visit it again soon. Thanks Jamie for everything!

The camper has everything you need. The location is very quiet, which we liked very much. We could watch from the window Otter. For shopping and Skye Bridge you drive about 30 minutes. We would like to come back anytime and thank Jamie once again for the hospitality!

  • Lovely cottage, perfect for a quiet weekend on the west coast.

  • We had a very good stay. The place very cozy, upscale service (3 bathrooms), well placed but it is necessary to prepare your stay because it is very difficult to find the right information for walks and others. The top for 4 perfect for 6. I recommend.

  • An address to recommend at the top of the list. Great! Everything was perfect: cleanliness, hospitality, facilities, decor, idyllic location and good for shining in the highlands, and especially for the island of skye. We followed some of Sarah Jane's activity recommendations and directions in her workbook and were not disappointed.

    Jean-Philippe2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah Jane's home was in a beautiful setting and very accessible to Skye, Fort Augustus etc. It was exceptionally clean and very cosy. A perfect spot to tour around from.

  • The room itself was large, clean and equipped with a very comfortable bed and an efficient heater. Access to the kitchen and a shared bathroom was provided, which were both in good condition. Jeff was a nice and welcoming host, who makes an amazing and plentiful breakfast! We would book the accomodation again!

  • Really Nice place to stay.

  • Wonderful accommodation. Before a trip to the island of Skye or after it is the best option for the combination of price and quality. There is where to put the car. The room is warm and clean. Many things are made by Jeff with love and warmth. For breakfast, Jeff served fresh bread and butter, as well as strawberries, melon and grapefruit. Jeff also plays the guitar well and sings beautifully. Hi Jeff! We’ll be nearby, we’ll definitely visit you !!

  • Jeff is amazing and easy going host. You will fell relax and very comfortable with him. Place is very warm, clean and bed is very comfortable. • Jeff was a great host! The room was comfortable and the local tips were very much appreciated. I’d have no hesitation recommending Jeff’s place.

    Samantha2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great night at Jeff's. Nice person who knows his region very well. A very authentic, warm and welcoming atmosphere in an incredible and wild place! Pretty driftwood objects made by the host himself as well as maps of the region give a lot of charm to the house. We would have gladly stayed longer! Jeff has a lot to teach his visitors. Very nice meeting, I recommend!

  • We only stayed one night but it was perfect! The house is beautiful and Jeff is a wonderful and caring host. He gave us great advice about the area and we felt very welcome.

    Suzanne2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge is breathtakingly beautiful. Ian and Anne have put a lot of thought into everything their guests could possibly need and more. We stayed for 2-nights and we wished we could stay longer. Plockton is stunning and if you are looking for somewhere to stay, that is as stunning as it’s location, this is the place. Pure luxury.

    Lisa2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing modern cabin in the most beautiful waterfront position. Cabin has everything you need. Felt like a home away from home. Had such a relaxing and comfortable stay in this beautiful corner of Scotland. Great communication from hosts, we would thoroughly recommend! Thanks again.

  • We want to live there! What a wonderful place! Magical location at the shore of a beautiful loch, lovely modern room with super en suite and a delightful host who made us feel really welcome and provided some really helpful local information. Breakfast was great, both the lovely food and the table overlooking the loch. Can't recommend highly enough. Thank you for a lovely stay Sarah Jane. We wish it had been for longer.

  • Tranquil, peaceful, quiet, beautiful location and space- Sarah was so kind and helpful, making our (too-short) stay wonderful. The room is super clean, quiet and very comfortable- a fantastic place to stay whether you’re walking or driving. We were able to walk to a local shop for supplies, as well as a nearby hotel pub for dinner. Breakfast was absolutely terrific- do stay here!

  • The view on arrival is incredible. The property was spotless with everything that you require on hand . It was so relaxing. I would certainly book this property if I ever return to Skye area. The location is fabulous and very quiet. Thanks for a great stay 😊

  • We had a memorable stay in Helen's Cottage. The cottage is cozy and tastefully decorated, it is surrounded by nature with a magnificent view of Loch Duich and the majestic Highland mountains. It was a great pleasure for us to have stayed here. Marie-José, Theo and Aurelie, Strasbourg, France

    Marie2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Helen has a beautiful home in a stunning location in Ratagan. It was an ideal location for a couple with a new baby to stay. Quiet, private and very relaxing. The house was very clean and extremely well presented. Our only regret was not booking for longer.

    Madeleine2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is located on Loch Duich overlooking the wonderful mountains of the Highlands. It is furnished with great attention to detail and very cozy. The location is perfect for exploring the Isle of Skye. A small gas station where you can buy even the most necessary is just a few kilometers away. A restaurant and bar right on the opposite side of the lake.

    Christine2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time staying at Ratagan, can honestly say that there's nothing that could have been better. The view is incredible, house is modern but cozy with some excellent additions such as the nook in one bedroom for looking out over the Loch and full Sky TV package for rainy days stuck indoors. The location is perfect for anybody looking to spend time on Skye and is also particularly good if you're looking to go walking in Glen Shiel or Glenelg. Not only the most accurate listing we've stayed at for photos of both the property and view, but also one of the best places I've stayed at in Scotland overall.

    Simon2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Helen's house is superb. The view over the loch is amazing, just to wake up to this every morning was so special and never got tiring. Ratagan is a quiet community so peace and tranquillity abound and getting to sleep is no problem after all the fresh air! The property has free wifi and sky TV, together with Netflix, so entertainment is always at hand. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished. We especially loved the "50 shades of Scotland" print. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped, the living area is comfortable and the extra seating area overlooking the garden and loch is bright and airy. Ratagan is within easy reach of Fort William, Loch Ness and the Isle of Skye so makes a superb base for exploring Scotland's West Coast. All in all staying in Helen's house will ensure you have a great holiday with lots to explore in the local region, and a great relaxing evening at the end of each day.

    Chris2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Helens cortage at Loch Duich is amazing. We enjoyed it all very much. It's clean, the tips from Helen are good and the scenery from her cottage is just stunning. If we were to go back to that area we would surely book the cottage from Helen again.

  • An incredible space with amazing views! We absolutely loved staying here, could not fault it.

    Lorna2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space in an amazing location. Prefect for the ferry and ideal if exploring the rest of Skye. Modern, clean and cosy and the view was unreal, didn't feel the need to turn on the TV once. Great stay

  • Cordelia and Julien were incredible hosts, the house is really easy to locate, immaculately clean and they have great knowledge of local amenities. We were really interested in their annex/home and how they built them and they gave us so much information and things to think of. The views really are just like the pictures, you can sit there and watch the day go by as the weather changes. The house has everything you would possibly want and is really spacious and warm. The fire is great! They were great at responding to messages and flexible with our arrival. We hugely recommend this place to stay for visitors to Skye (we took the ferry over from Mallaig following driving up from Glasgow - which is a really easy and straight forward journey). Thanks to you both for our wonderful stay!

    Philippa2020-03-05T00:00:00Z

    Arek2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. The house itself is incredibly stylish and comfortable but it is the views that set this place apart. Spectacular.

    Melanie2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Breath taking views, easy check in and a super friendly host

    Dean2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the best Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in. The house is beautiful and cosy with everything you could possibly need including a great shower, comfy bed, well equipped kitchen and underfloor heating. The bits that make it extra special are the wood burner and incredible views of Skye - we whiled away our mornings just drinking coffee with the fire on and looking out at the ever changing scenery. Cordelia was a lovely host, responsive, helpful and friendly. We can’t recommend it highly enough, and we’re already planning our return trip to this is little gem.

Covid-19 Coronavirus: For the time being, to protect our very fragile health service and the many older and vulnerable residents of this small island, I am not taking any new bookings for May/June, when I will review again. Who knows what lies ahead for all of us, but please save my wee Bothy to your favourites and when the time is right, come and visit us. In the meantime, stay safe, stay home, wash your hands and use the time to plan your future trip to Skye. Thank you.
The Strawbale Bothy is made from simple, natural materials; wood, clay, straw and lime, there are no nasty chemicals, no concrete, and where we have had to use plastic, it is to an absolute minimum. A perfect place for two to slow down and watch the view. We’re sure you will love the feel of staying in a natural home, the softness of the clay plaster walls, the luminous light of the lime washed shower room and the warmth of local larch wood. There is a light and airy living area with an electric stove, Bluetooth speaker, books and games to keep you entertained if you get bored of the stunning views over to the hills of Knoydart. There is a small kitchen area with induction hob, combination microwave oven, washer dryer and all the other things you would expect to find. There is a cosy box bed, dressed with a duck down duvet, soft, relaxed French linen and Egyptian cotton. From your bed you can stare at the stars at night or watch the sunrise in the morning. You also have a spacious en suite shower room with traditional flush toilet. The Strawbale Bothy is exactly what it says, it is a loadbearing strawbale building built on foundations made from car tyres filled with rammed gravel. We’ve tried to make sure this wee building has as low an impact on the planet as possible. We have not used any concrete in its construction, practically everything can be recycled or biodegradable, we've only used plastic where there has been no alternatives or the alternatives are a bit, well - yeuch! Try plastic free showering with handmade soap and solid shampoo by local Scottish artisans. Feel doubly virtuous by washing up and only using natural bristle brushes and cotton dish cloths. Booking and Availability: Covid-19 Coronavirus: It is a worrying, uncertain time so if you are thinking of booking, here are a few points to help you decide: I have made some changes to the Bothy. My place is frequently rated as 'sparkling clean', but I have introduced some additional, non environmentally friendly measures, just to make sure. This includes cleaning with bleach based disinfectants and single use paper cloths. Replacing artisan locally made solid soap with liquid soap in single use plastic bottles (when I can get them). Replacing vintage and handmade crockery and cutlery with dishwasher proof items - all crockery and cutlery goes through a hot wash in a dishwasher between guests. Washing bedlinen and towels at a higher temperature with biological powder. Lining bins with single use plastic liners. My cancellation policy will remain as 'Strict'. However, please check Airbnb's Extenuation Circumstances Policy. This tells you when you can get a full refund if your trip is affected by the Coronavirus. I really believe this to be fair. If you contract the virus, or have to self isolate, or your flights have been cancelled, or the Government has imposed restrictions, or your doctor has advised you not to travel, then you can claim a full refund under the Policy (correct at the time of writing 14 March). Alternatively, if you do book and then decide you would prefer not travel at that time, rather than cancel your trip and possibly lose your money, you could consider changing your dates until later in the year, just request a 'change of dates' and subject to availability, I'd be happy to organise it. If however, you wish to cancel because, for example, the weather is not looking good, then the usual cancellation policy will apply. So, if you are curious about what it would be like to stay in a home made without concrete, bricks and plastic, and stay on one of the most beautiful islands in the world, we would love to meet you.
  • Super stay at the straw bale Bothy! It’s warm and cosy, has great views of mountains and the sea, and is so peaceful! It’s a good base for sightseeing on the Island, which is stunning! Our stay coincided with beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown but Nicola was so kind and reassuring, she has taken every step to make sure the Bothy is super clean and safe, we wish we could have stayed up here in the fresh air rather then go back to the city!

    Vicky2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Nicola’s bothy was an amazing place to stay for our visit to Skye. Really comfy and unique place in a great location. The surrounding views are amazing and it was lovely to get home after a tiring day and relax there! Nicola couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly! Would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone visiting Skye!

    Graham2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this Bothy. I had such an incredible time here. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind, but also to use as a base for exploring Skye, even in winter! The bothy itself had all the things I needed, with little thoughtful and personal touches from Nicola that made it all the more special and relaxing. It is in a great location. Waking up every morning and watching the sunrise over the mountains from the bedroom window, to stargazing outside on a clear evening. It is a beautiful place. Nicola was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, which just made my time at the bothy special and seamless. Her vegan chocolate brownies were also to die for! I will definitely be returning to this bothy!

  • Nicola’s place is lovely, full of thoughtful touches and amazingly clean. It’s a beautiful place to stay if you want a lovely chilled week end away. It’s a very comfortable and cosy place.. you will feel at home straight away. Nicola’s place is located in a lovely spot close to the beach and local amenities. Nicola is a lovely host and was always available if we needed anything. She welcomed us with incredibly tasty cakes and gave us a lot information regarding places to visit. We absolutely loved everything about our stay and would definitely go back again. Thank you Nicola !

  • The Strawbale Bothy is a real authentique detailed and handmade home for all kind of travellers. It's made for two people and if they are not related it could be interesting in the cosy bed. I like the fact, that there is no TV in the bothy and that you recognize the owner in every detail of the bothy. Nicola welcomed us very warm and kindly. We got a very nice talk and she gave us nice tips for our short trip through the Isle. Well, I could write a whole more of the bothy, but at least just this: Go there and fall in love like we did! Thank you Nicola, we will definetly come back again.

    Phil2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place is absolutely amazing with a stunning view over the sea! We could even sit outside and watch the stairs in the night. Super cosy and well-decorated place with plenty of space for two people, we didn't need anything, everything was just perfect and Nicole was such a lovely host.

    Line2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

  • Cosy, homely upstairs appartment. Good kitchen and family table in spacious sittng room. Bread and milk are a kind touch. Fancy chocolates are a treat!

  • Lovely place situated just off the beaten path. The views in the morning are stunning, and the space is large and comfortable for those that stay. They do provide some extra amenities in the fridge to help for preparing breakfast or such for yourself in the morning. Take care to understand how the water heating works as you do need to wait a little bit after you start it. It’s also possible to “run low on the hot water if everyone is showering one after another. Just something worth keeping in mind for anyone not used to that while visiting Europe. Fantastic little place to stay and highly recommended for people wanting to stay in the Scottish Highlands! Oh and their son Finaly has his own chocolate shop next door, so be sure to try a bit of that slice of heaven too!

    Kevin2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The views and location are simply stunning! Fiona and Lewis are fantastic hosts, really friendly and communication was excellent. The apartment is a perfect base to explore the idyllic surrounding areas of Kyle of Lochalsh and Isle of Skye. The apartment is clean and cosy and has everything you need. I would highly recommend and I will be back again soon.

  • We are group of young people from Indonesia who live in the UK for several years now. We visited Fiona's place during Christmas winter. Fiona's place is immaculate. She is so helpful and kind. She asked us for ETA a day before our arrival. She ensured that we know our way to find the property. When we arrived, the weather was not very kind to us. But Fiona was so helpful and quickly help us. She brought us some umbrellas and helped with bringing our bags to the property. She prepared everything we need, such as slippers, towels, toiletries, and even some continental breakfast and complimentary chocolates from Chocolates of Glenshiel. We really love the chocolates. Unfortunately when we checked-out the shop is not yet open. So, we can't buy it in store. Fiona responded to queries very swiftly. She provided us with some useful information such as, nearby shops and petrol stations. We were really feeling like at home. Fiona's property is really spacious and cozy. We definitely recommend it to everyone.

  • Far too short for our stay , but long enough to experience an authentic air b and d stay. Fiona and Lewis offer genuine hospitality in a home with a very close encounter with the “five sisters” not to mention the friendly visit with their pot belly pigs.

This is a stand alone log cabin, which has just undergone extensive renovations. It has few neighbours except for myself. It's situated in a wild garden, with access to 3 hectares of beautiful woodland behind. There's a main living room, a galley kitchen, a double bedroom and a bathroom with a large shower. There's also a wood stove to keep you warm There's a plasma TV with chromecast, a speaker system and a guitar for campfire songs! There's also a firepit available for use 30m from the cabin
**Coronavirus update** My guests' safety is of utmost importance to me. I understand people will have concerns and fears coming on holiday and away from their homes. This area is beautiful and wild, and still allows you to restrict social contact whilst also enjoying the great outdoors. In addition to the usual deep clean of my property after every stay, i'll be undertaking additional cleaning of all surfaces, light switches, remote controls and door handles using alcohol wipes and antiviral spray. I'll be distancing myself from all guests as a precaution, but of course, i'm available if anyone needs me. Bedding and towels are provided, and there are a plenty of blankets and cushions to make yourself comfortable. If you require allergy-safe bedding, please contact me to get it ready for you. Heating is provided by a wood burning stove in the living room (all wood felled and split by me from the woods around the cabin) and electric heaters in the bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom also has a heated towel rail. There is a firepit in the garden (please don't light fires elsewhere) and there is a small firepit on the side of the loch to watch the sunset from. Children or babies are allowed, but the cabin is not specially set up for them, so you'd need to take responsibility for them, and provide your own cribs / highchairs etc. Pets are permitted, and a dog bed can be made available on request. Extra guests may be accommodated for a fee but you would need to contact me to confirm availability.
This is a secluded cabin in the grounds of the old school house. It is located 60m off of the quiet road on the south side of Loch Eil. There are woods behind the house to explore, and access to the lochside on the other side of the road, perhaps a minute's walk from the cabin. There are walks up onto the mountain behind, but otherwise this is a quiet area. Apart from the occasional car on the road, the only sounds are the birds and the wind in the trees. The nearest shop is in Corpach which is a 20 minute drive away. This is a beautiful, tranquil area, which makes a great base for exploring the highlands. The woods have deer and pine martens in them and there are many birds. The west coast is only an hour down the road and you can be at the base of Ben Nevis in 40 minutes.
  • We stayed here for my girlfriends birthday and this cabin is just perfect! It's so clean and comfortable and in a perfect location. Close enough to fort William to stock up on provisions but remote enough to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. Pete was brilliant with his messages and couldn't do enough to make our stay perfect. Pete had the stove going for us on arrival which was great. Loved sitting out on the front porch and looking at the stars. I can't recommend this place enough and I've already told my girlfriend I want to come here again for my birthday. Stop looking for other places and book this place now.

    Tom2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Pete's cabin is just the perfect place for a vacation! It's a charming cabin in the woods, lovely interior design and loads of nice touches to make you feel home. Not only the fireplace warms up the cabin very quickly, but it really makes for a magical atmosphere! We would love to be back for another escape from the city :) Thanks Pete!

    Francesco2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • A very cozy cabin, the little touches are teeming, you immediately feel at home! We will come back!

  • This cabin exceeded our expectations by far. The location, thoughtfulness and personal touches are what made this stay so awesome. We wish we could have stayed longer but can not wait to return. I would suggest this cabin for any trip to this area of Scotland.

  • What a great place to stay- this was a very spacious cabin, stylish with character and with very cosy atmosphere, really a gem!Pete was very welcoming and had lighted the fire in the stove before we arrived so it was warm and lovely! The place is environmentally friendly, spotless clean and has everything one might need(from board games to face masks and toothbrushes), fresh linen and amazing views from literally everywhere in the cabin. It was very easy to find and Pete was very quick to respond to my queries. One of my best experiences in the highlands. I'll be back soon- totally recommended!

    Emma2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Small but adequate and cozy, this lochside cottage is not only remarkable for its perfect waterfront location and a 15 minute drive to the Isle of Skye, but also for the hospitality and all the attention that its host Zoe carries to the smooth running of our stay, and in all discretion. Perfection. Be careful however long hair, the shower is really lacking pressure ... This is the price to pay for this site quite unique ;-)

Peat-cutters Cottage is a traditional, 100-year-old, stone cottage with a larch clad kitchen extension. It is situated in a corner of our garden, surrounded by croft land and 5 minutes drive from the village of Elgol.
Inside there is a cosy sitting room with wood burning stove (some fuel provided) and tv with freesat channels. However, please be aware there is no mobile signal or WiFi in the cottage. The kitchen has an electric oven with gas hob, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle and cafetière. There is a small double bedroom and bathroom with WC and bath with shower overhead. Peat-cutters cottage has two portable oil filled radiators as well as the wood burning stove which also heats the hot water. There is also an immersion heater for the water when you don’t have the stove on. The village of Elgol has a local shop serving coffees, cake etc, crafts and groceries. Coruisk House (winner of 2019 Taste Local Awards for best restaurant with rooms) is the only place for an evening meal, in the village, and needs to be booked well in advance. Elgol pier is also the place to take boat trips into Loch Coruisk and out to the Small Isles. The nearest supermarket is 13 miles back down the single-track road to Broadford so we suggest that you buy your provisions before you come! Broadford is also where you will find the petrol station, chemist, post office, various local craft and gift shops and a selection of restaurants.
  • Great little spot away from everything. Loved how quiet it was here :)

  • The cottage is an amazing place to stay, on a beautiful part of Skye. The log burner was amazing to come back to, and had been lit for our arrival which was a lovely touch. The cottage is very spacious, with great facilities and a homely feel. The drive to the cottage must be one of the most spectacular in the UK. Thank you for being fabulous hosts :)

    Hannah2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cottage very cosy and comfy. The location is perfect if you want to relax and explore Isle of Skye.

    Larry2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • I don't think I've ever had such an amazing view while drinking my morning cup of tea: the cottage looks out onto the sea and mountains beyond, and there's hardly another house in sight. This is the perfect place to stay on Skye if you're looking for somewhere remote and beautiful where you can spend the whole day either walking or sitting by the fire. Inside the cottage is simple and very comfortable, and Susan has filled it with thoughtful touches like the little lights in the sitting room and peat for the fire so it's cosy enough to enjoy the long winter nights. The disconnection from mobile phones and wifi felt like luxury - the perfect escape from the rest of the world.

    Kate2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The peat cutter’s cottage is absolutely charming - we didn’t want to leave! Great communication around check-in, and really appreciated the local tips, cozy fireplace (+ peat!), and beautiful views. Kitchen was well stocked and shower piping hot. Highly recommend if you are passing through!
