Parks & nature in Nevada

Harbour / Marina
“Sand Harbor is considered the most beautiful beach in Lake Tahoe. It is located on the Nevada side of the lake in the Lake Tahoe National Park. The beach has a small museum and store, bathrooms, showers, parking, a boat launch, picnic tables and BBQs and plenty of golden sand to put down a blanket and umbrella. Some areas around the beach have rocks that you can jump off of. There is a parking fee at Sand Harbor during the summer and fall months. During the summer season, Sand Harbor has beach lifeguards. The boat launch area of Sand Harbor is located on the North side of the beach and launch fees and boat inspections apply. There is also a bay just for SCUBA divers called Diver's Cove.”

Ski Area
“Our favorite for boarding/ skiing! 30 minutes up hwy 431. Go early (before 8:30) and enjoy one of Gus's famous breakfast burritos. Best value for ski lessons. Best childrens learn to ski program. Highest terrain (8260 elevation) so the driest snow in the basin. Nice combination of ability levels for skiing. If you are already a skier and have your own equipment, head to the Slide Side (Winters Creek lodge) to avoid the crowds. Slopes are all blue and black diamond rated on this side. Easy parking and less crowded.”

“Sand Harbor is arguably the most scenic beach in all of the Tahoe Area. You'll see carribean- blue waters and submerged granite boulders the size of a whale, and fine sandy beaches. Go early! The parking lot will get full around 10am if its a busy summer weekend.”
