  • Staying here was the most wonderful two days. It was so peaceful, fun and relaxing. You must stay here if you want to escape London mayhem for a few days. It was heaven! Felt like we were abroad. Loved the little motor boat we hired too - much recommended to travel up and down the Thames. Lovely touches too with the birthday decorations. Very thoughtful. Host was also awesome as well as the lovely chap who helped us to use the little boat. Stay here - you won’t be disappointed!

  • Nathalie's boat is just perfect! Easy to get to from London Waterloo with quite a few pubs in the area. We cooked breakfast and dinner, there's a Waitrose near the station so convenient for all your needs. It's a peaceful getaway from busy central London and that's just what we needed. We took our rods but it was too windy and unfortunately we didn't catch anything :( The bedroom was surprisingly comfortable and bigger than we expected. I would highly recommend you give the it a go. Nathalie is a great host, thank you so much!

  • Thanks for a wonderful boat stay! We had a lot of trouble with the shower and ended up cold with wet hair due to not being able to use a hair dryer. Also we woke up very wet from the ceiling dripping in the morning but other than that a very enjoyable visit thank you! X

    Harriet2018-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • The boat is small but perfectly formed and is moored on a private Island (150 yds from the car). We loved it as it is quiet, beautiful and relaxing BUT is minutes away by car from Hampton Court, the Parks a station, Kempton Park races and Hampton Wick. Also I enjoyed brilliant fishing from the boat. 2xRoach, 1 (very lively) perch and a 2.5lb river Bream (picture available! lovely fish !! )plus a few small ones!. There was a problem with the water heater but owners did more than anyone could be expected to do to sort it!

  • Great place. Lively peaceful spot. Lovely hosts. We had a fab time. Highly recommend

  • Nathalie & Julian where fantastic host's while I was round. Soon as I got my bags on board, Julian offered a little tour around the two islands, one being the boat I stayed on and the second where they stay on their 2nd boat. It was a very surreal experience seeing all different types of boats and actual full sized houses floating along the river thames. He also showed me about the owner of the islands and their neighbours which was great since I'm considering getting a houseboat in the future. I had a nice relaxing time being there and I learnt alot about the houseboat lifestyle. I'm sure I asked them as many questions about living on the water as I possibly could and they didn't mind at all. Both Nathalie & Julian helped me with the goings on while staying on the boat and helped with any directions I needed. They supplied me bread, butter milk, tea bags, bottles of water etc for breakfast in the morning which was a nice touch. When I next get a few days off work before this summer is over I'm sure I'll be coming back to stay again. cheers, Will

  • What a great place to stay! We only wished we had longer. The bed was really comfy, and the fireplace kept us warm.Manuela was at work and we did not meet us but texted a warm welcome . Her friend, Richard met us and showed us around and gave operating instructions. He also recommended shopping and a good restaurant just up the walking path. The restaurant was just what we needed and we enjoyed our dinner there. We arrived at almost dark but got up early to wander up the path. If you haven't stayed on a barge, you should. This one is well kept, in a safe area and charming. It is located near Heathrow airport and we will book again next time we have to depart early. This spot extended our "vacation" as it was near the airport, but so much nicer and an entire world away from the airport hotel. Thanks for a lovely stay!!

    Susan And Jeff2015-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time on the Barge! Manula and Richard were very helpful and friendly and immediately made us feel welcomed. The boat is amazing, super clean, well equiped with everything you can possibly think. The area is very nice for walks along the canal and the river, but public transport into London is easy too. This boat really gives you a relaxing holiday feeling! We will definitely be back!

  • Something quirky, intouch with wildlife and a stones throw away from London if you really wanted it. The barge is everything you could ask for from a escape away from city life without actually having to go far away from home comforts such a the local chinese take away or shopping centre. The barge is beautiful. For those unsure if staying on a boat is is for them then this is perfect - my boyfriend was unsure and is now planning another trip. The barge doesn't tock like you may think a cabin on the water may and it is beautifully kept on the inside. You'd be silly to miss this.

    Jamie2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • lovely boat. helpful host. very relaxing and out of the way while still close enough to the city.

    Nick2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Both Richard and Manuela were very hospitable, easy to get on with, cheerful, and cooperative. Would for sure come back to stay at their Barge again and again and again. Place is clean, beautiful, comfortable, warm and safe. Really loved it.. best of luck to both of them. They deserve it..

    Arwa2016-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Manuela kept us well informed and the barge was a fun place to stay.

    Peter2015-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • The barge was great, quite water, heavier than the passing traffic, and very well equipped. A nice place.

    Hugo2015-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect stay - a peaceful sanctuary! Manuela and Richard could not have been more welcoming; The barge was spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. Felt completely relaxed after leaving, only regret is that we only booked two nights and not three. Thank you! PS. The bed is not too short! (like previous comments suggest)

  • Natasha and Klaus are the best hosts i have ever met! They helped me and my boyfriend set up bbq in the cold and decorated the boat very nicely for our birthday+anniversary celebration. The boat is clean, warm, cosy and well equipped with smart tv & cooking appliances. The view is fantastic while the surrounding is very peaceful and quiet despite being next to a busy main road (which makes the marin extremely easy to be found). With great thanks to Natacha and Klaus, we had a wonderful night on Baboo. We definitely would like to come back in the future!

  • Baboo is in a lovely peaceful location and it was enjoyed as a place to chill after a long haul flight adjusting to English time. It's in a perfect (!!!) location for visiting Hampton court palace and close to some lovely pubs - The Mute Swan was a great place for dinner. It's got all the essentials and you can cook if you need. (Hob/pan cooking) We had pancakes one morning :). The moorings are beautiful and the gardens and chalet are lovely. Very unique little stay! recommended :)

  • Had a great stay on an amazing boat in a beautiful location. Use of pedalos was a great hit with the kids , they loved it.

  • The host was proffesional yet on a level enough to communicate with us casually. Prepared the boat for my fiances birthday, a beautiful and romantic touch. She really made our stay as comfortable as possible and was very accepting to our requests. The boat was in fantastic condition and would rebook sometime soon, perhaps with our daughter this time. Top marks!

  • Very unique experience! Lovely welcome card, chocolates and birthday decorations- very thoughtful. Beautiful location, makes for a peaceful little getaway. One night was not long enough- would definitely return

  • OMG... OMG... what can I say I has such an amazing time on Baboo Everything you need Baboo had, could not fault anything at all such a beautiful place to stay you really don't feel like your in the uk who needs to go abroad when Baboo is available. Beautiful, relaxing and tranquil what more do you need? Not far at all from the train station, local shops nearby everything you would need was nearby. What surprised me the most was as soon as you enter Riverscapes main gate I felt like I was in Narna somewhere completely different and magical. Everyone should experience staying on Baboo it was an experience I would be forgetting in a hurry. Have to stay the host Natasha was an absolute star brilliant host and will be definitely be staying at Baboo again and again and again x

    Dolly2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Baboo for 2 nights and it was honestly amazing. The boat is cozy and the vibe is so chilled out we were felt as though we were on holiday. The place seems located in a little paradise.i just met Natasha and she was really friendly and nice. We felt inspired stay there and we highly recommend it. We did not want to leave but we will be back for sure. Thank you for the beautiful stay ;)

    Giulia2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The boat is simply perfection. Me and a friend went there for just a one night get away and it was really easy to find, and Natasha gave us such clear explanations for the check in/out. The boat itself is every person's dream. It has everything in it (little kitchen, table, nice cosy double bed + another small double bed, toilet,…). Very clean and more spacious then you would think. PS: Immensely romantic with a bit of a bling bling feel to it! :) I think it is perfect for a little get away of just a few nights.

JESSIE the narrowboat is moored in the heart of Little Venice on the north bank of the Pool of Little Venice and just opposite Brownings Island. It’s a stones throw from Paddington Station. Convenient, pretty and very relaxing.
Stay on this lovely individual, comfortable boat in the heart of London and experience the capital from a different point of view. Jessie is a 57 foot canal boat (or narrowboat) completed in 2011. She is 6 foot 10 inches wide. She can sleep 4 people in comfort, for 2 she is luxurious. The boat has a warm inviting interior and space on deck to sit and watch the world go by. The appropriately named Little Venice (a name coined by the poet Robert Browning) is a very pretty corner of London, famous as home to hundreds of beautiful canal boats and convenient base from which to explore the capital. Two underground stations and good bus routes to all parts of the city are a short walk away. There is something very special about returning to the peace and quiet of the canal after a day in the city. There are lots of local pubs, restaurants, cafe and shops in the immediate neighbourhood. Free Wifi connection. The sleeping accommodation is made up of a double cabin at the front with doors to a small but comfortable front deck. There are two single bunk beds to the centre of the boat and a very comfortable sofa which flattens out to a double bed in the living area. Which you choose to use is up to you. The bathroom has a shower, a cassette toilet, and a wash basin with shaving point. The living area is to the centre of the boat with a solid fuel stove for chilly evenings, a wall mounted digital TV (DVD/CD player). There is a large comfy sofa/bed (storage underneath for bedding). A folding dinning table and additional chairs allows for 6 place setting. The galley has a gas hob and oven with grill, a good size fridge with freezer compartment, a sink and draining board, cupboards and drawers housing all the usual kitchen equipment. Water is held in a tank onboard and needs topping up every few days (depending on your usage). This will be done by your host. The boat has a shore supply of electricity which powers the AC system. A DC system powers the fridge and waters pumps. A charger needs to be switched on to recharge the batteries. In the winter months heating is by the solid fuel stove which burns a combination of smokeless coal and logs which are provided. The stove can be controlled and kept going 24 hours but you need to allow for this in your daily routine loading the stove before going out and a little attention on your return. It keeps the boat warm and cosy. An eco fan assists circulation. Living on board is not quite like a conventional house and needs an understanding and patience with the obvious limitations in space and supply of resources. It may therefore not be for everyone.
  • Clean, comfortable and truly unique. Just be prepared for close quarters, if you are traveling with more than two - we are used to boat living so it was perfect for our family. A gem!

    Jennifer2018-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jessie is an absolutely amazing and unique experience! You have to contact Meg to book time on her and enjoy the splendor of Little Venice. From the canal boats to the ducks and geese that frequent the waters, you'll have a most relaxing and enjoyable stay. Meg is a most wonderful and welcoming host(ess). We were greeted with her tidying up Jessie, busy getting the last things in order, and even watering the flowers that adorn her roof. It's a magical and intimate accommodation - a special treat. Meg was generous in providing all of the breakfast needs to start your busy day. A real boost when there's so much to see - thanks Meg. We've raved to our friends about our time on the narrowboat, so don't waste any time ensuring you get your magical moment on this little piece of paradise. Jessie - we'll be back! Tom, Jackie, Lauren and Grace.

  • A charming, perfectly maintained, well equipped, comfortable unique escape from typical London hotels. Wonderful central location and charm. This isn't a hotel - so if simply tasks like starting a fire in a wood stove or running the engine a bit to heat water for a shower don't excite you, then you should stay in a hotel. If however, your sense of adventure aligns with your sense of comfort then stay onboard Jessie. Meg will leave you well equipped and quickly show you the couple of tasks necessary to live on the water. Then relax in solitude. The boat is exactly as described and I'm eager to return!

    Jimmy2014-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a unique experience staying onboard "Jessie". The boat is beautiful and exactly like the pictures show. Meg replied quickly to all emails, and was helpful in all answering all questions. She even left groceries and toiletries for us to use. We were 4 adults staying there for 3 days, which in fairness was a bit cramped at times. But we made it work, and being in London, we were out and about most of the days. There was a problem with the toilet one of the days, but within hours Meg arrived and fixed it.

    Tina Cecilie2015-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Living on the canalboat for two weeks was a wonderful experience. It's a quiet part of the city, near two underground stations with shops and food nearby. Meg was very helpful when an issue with the Internet came up. All in all it was a very fun experience.

  • Such an incredibly unique place to stay! Very cozy and comfortable.

  • I have stayed in quite a few Airbandbs - and Jessie has been my favourite ! Meg was an exemplary host, replying promptly to all communication. The attention to detail was everywhere - lovely cotton bedding, comfy pillows, a bowl of fruit, milk, butter, and cereal. A sweet vase of flowers. The other treat was the wildlife round the boat - geese, ducks, moorhens, swans. I could watch them from bed .I was doing a course in Little Venice, and when I got back to Jessie the fire was lit and the lights were on ! Such a kind thing to do. Jessie was very convenient for everything - I would certainly recommend staying there and will definitely stay there the next time I go to London.

    Mandy2018-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • My other half and I enjoyed a few days aboard Jessie in early January. Meg is a gracious and thoughtful host, and Jessie is a charming retreat from the bustle of London. I'd thoroughly recommend for anyone interested in the convenience of a central London base, in a beautiful and serene neighbourhood.

Then you have your shower room and toilet. And finally a very cosy nest of a bed at the back. Ripples does have a usb charge point but no plugs. The First Officer's cabin on board historic 19th C sailing ship De Walvisch. Bespoke and hand-built with solid teak and marine antiques. Compact but luxurious, a cabin with a rare Royal Navy submarine sink, wardrobe, drinks cabinet and screen with media player. Typically maritime with unusual forms, floor space is limited but the bed is suitable for couples and over 2m long. All stays on board ship include a cooked English breakfast in the mornings, served in the ship's galley from Navy silver.
The ship De Walvisch is a fully functioning historic Dutch sailing klipper, built in 1896. It is owed by the artists Zatorski + Zatorski, who live on board with their children, and who have lovingly and painstakingly restored the vessel over the past 8 years, using reclaimed hardwoods and marine antiques. The ship is not cold in winter! Like a house, the ship is well insulated and there is central heating throughout, as well as a wood burning stove in the main hold to heat the vessel. De Walvisch is an ex-cargo ship, that used to carry eels from Holland to London - restored to her original lines and with all her round wood replaced, she is one of the finest examples of a 19th C sailing Klipper in the UK. The First Officer's cabin is a bespoke-built double cabin, accessed off the corridor leading to the bow cabin. Though compact, there is ample room under the raised bed for storing luggage. Please be aware - this is a small ship's cabin, if you are very large or have worries about the amount of space please do contact us with questions! The cabin has its own submarine sink with hot and cold water and is the only cabin to have its own media centre, with films on hard drive for you to enjoy during your stay. A bluetooth speaker also means you can listen to music from your own device. There are two cabins available to book as guests on board, the Captain's Bow bedroom and the First Officer's Cabin.
De Walvisch lays on a residential mooring for historic ships on the river Thames, a stone's throw from Tower Bridge, on the North side of the river. Land-side you are in the heart of Wapping, a once-thriving working docklands area, still resplendent with historic wharf buildings and riverside pubs. St Katharine Docks, a 3 minute walk away, offers many cafes, restaurants and bars as well as world food stalls on a Friday and boat-related or cultural events throughout the year. Tower Bridge and the Tower of London are a 6-8 minute walk away; crossing the bridge takes you to the South Bank westward, or Shad Thames and more bars/ restaurants to the East side. Brick Lane, famous for curry houses, and the Whitechapel Art Gallery are within easy walking distance North, and the Tate Modern, The Globe Theatre and Borough Market are within a half an hour walk along the South Bank. There is a Waitrose supermarket only a few minutes walk away and small local shops that open late. Though you are only 500m from some of the busiest tourist attractions in London, being on the river itself means that you do not hear traffic noise and you are shielded from some of the hustle and bustle of busy street London…instead you will hear seagulls, the swishing of waves against the river bank and the rise and fall of the tides.
  • I stayed here for a few days for work - a really unique place to stay. I loved it and would certainly recommend it to anyone else on business or pleasure. So so so close to everything yet also very quiet and comfortable. Angel was a lovely host and gave lots of useful local information. Despite being on a boat and in a private secure marina and a family boat with some shared facilities I was able to come and go as I pleased but also made to feel welcome. The bed was so comfy and the amenities everything I needed. A really special place to stay. Highly recommended!

  • A stay on the De Walvisch is a great way to enjoy your time in London. A lovingly restored ship and magical experience steeped in a sophisticated quirky and sytlish charm, nestling on the Thames in the heart of London with the city pulsing around it. Angel and Tom are warm, charming and helpful hosts...we had a lovely time!

  • If you're looking for something out of ordinary, De Walvisch is for you. The location alone, facing Tower Bridge, makes it stand out. Those with an interest in London's maritime heritage and the East End's colourful history will not want to miss out on a chance to stay there. Perfect communication during booking phase and on the day of arrival made my stay even better. Many thanks to my great hosts !

  • Quick, concise communication. The ship is really impressive. The stay was a real bonus to our trip.

  • I don’t even want to state it here as I would like to keep it as my secret place - but that’s not how Airbnb (Website hidden by Airbnb) was just wonderful to stay on the boat, chat with Angel and Thomas and admire all the little details. The breakfast was very good and sleeping with a rocking movement lovely. Probably my favourite place to stay in a long time...

  • We had a wonderful time on the yacht. It is in an absolutely stunning spot on the river, and within walking distance of Hampton Court and the train station. Whilst we were there the weather was glorious and we made the most of the kayaks and the outdoor BBQ. The instructions and information provided were really thorough and Klaus and Natasha really have thought of everything. The boat itself is well-equipped and has everything you need for your stay. We had a really fantastic time and would love to visit again. Thank you!

  • Fantastic location in the heart of London, a breath of fresh air and tranquility in a busy city. The yacht was perfect for us and our young son, who was thrilled to sleep in such a nice big boat! Perfectly tidy, with all mod-cons and great hosts... I would thoroughly recommend a stay on the Eucala.

  • We had a lovely stay on the boat. Natasha and Klaus were really welcoming. The boat is clean, spacious and have all necessaries equipment. The marina is lovely and the location is perfect.

  • The photos tell the story about life on board. If you are fed up with boring, same old hotel rooms try a yacht. Was fabulous weather when we went and the view down the river watching rowers going by silently while you enjoy a G&T is hard to beat. Lots of great pubs in nearby areas along the river. We used it as a base for a Twickenham match which is a £9 Uber trip away. You have to try the electric boat too. Would stay again and can't say more than that.

    John2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location and exactly the unique experience we were looking for. Very comfortable accommodation, no need to make allowances for being on board a yacht. You aren't giving anything up by staying aboard, and you're getting amazing river views, neat ancillaries like a kayak or dinghy to explore the neighborhood, and a great place to dine and relax. Either as a quick get-out-of-town location or as a launchpad for Hampton Court and London it's a great option. Delighted to have stayed.

    Michael2016-05-25T00:00:00Z

Cosy cabin (sleeps 3) with own entrance on beautiful houseboat on unique private mooring in heart of London. Small living room with sofabed & table, screened double berth with foot-well, private bathroom, shared fridge, microwave. Surrounded by water, trees, coots & swans yet just a few mins walk to Kings Cross & Islington with bustling bars, markets, restaurants, shops & theatres. At end of day relax on the mooring, in good weather sit on deck or take rowboat to Kings Cross for a sunset drink.
Galatée is a new traditional houseboat located on a quiet wooded private gated mooring in the heart of London. She is bright and warm. The mooring is in a beautiful spot on Regent's Canal, surrounded by trees, with ducks, swans and geese on your doorstep. This is a calm and peaceful place to stay right in the centre of London. We live in a cabin at the other end of the boat (stern) and are delighted to share Galatée with you. You have a personal entrance onto the bow of the houseboat and to your self-contained, private little cabin comprising a folding table and chairs, DVD and videos, and sofa-bed, separated by a large cupboard from the small but comfortable double-berth with washbasin. There is an electric heater in the cabin. Please be aware that space is confined on a boat. The berth has a low foot-well under the cupboard to accommodate a double bed (140 cms wide by 195 cms long). The sofa-bed is 80 cms wide for one adult or child. Complete bed linen and towels are provided and the beds are prepared for you. You have use of a private bathroom with small bath, shower and chemical toilet. There is plentiful hot water, mains electricity, and free wifi. If required private use of the whole boat is also available on Airbnb (view Stunning Houseboat Central London). Alternatively you can use our self contained quarters including kitchen and bathroom in (Captains Quarters on secluded mooring Kings Cross) There are about 25 steps down to the mooring and a large step onto the boat. When possible we will be there personally to welcome you and explain everything about life on board Galatée and how the mooring works. If we are away a friend will meet and greet you. If possible during your stay, we would love to share a drink or coffee. We are pleased to offer complimentary tea, coffee, and cereal, milk, juice, jams, bread etc for breakfast. Also a kettle, toaster, plates, cups, glasses and cutlery are provided in your room and you have use of the microwave and fridge. Living on a houseboat is not like living on dry land. People expect it to be cold and damp, but our home is dry and warm. Galatée is securely moored and does not sway at all in the water unless in the wake of a large boat. There are some things to remember about boat life: - The shower/bath does not empty without the flick of a switch for the pump on the side of the bath. There is a chemical toilet, it has a lower compartment for waste which is the chemical tank. Pull the grey lever towards you to open the chemical tank when you use the toilet and close the grey lever when you have finished. Please do not use the flush unless necessary since it fills the chemical tank with water. Toilet paper rolls are stocked below the washbasin. - Full linen is provided, as well as an iron, hair dryer and complimentary soaps/shampooing. - The water on the boat is perfectly drinkable and stored in a tank under the flooring. You will hear a noise from the supply pump when taps are turned on. - Living on board is comfortable and fun but you must be aware that space is confined and interior soundproofing is much less efficient than in a normal house. In fine weather you can sit outside on the bow of the boat or in our little garden area. The canal is calm and peaceful and there is a beautiful view over the water by day and night; you can see ducks, geese and swans, and from time to time say hi to other friendly house-boaters who go chugging by. Washing machine/tumble dryer & ironing facilities are available on demand. There is a small supermarket round the corner and an easy walk to Islington Angel shopping center (Waitrose, M&S, Sainsbury's) and to Chapel Market for fresh market food. We know lots of tips for an great stay in what we think is the best city in the world! We can happily recommend many good restaurants, cafes and gastropubs both in the local area and further afield. It is a pleasant walk along the towpath to King's Cross and Granary Square (10/15 mins). Towards the east is Islington Angel, with its restaurants, theatres, music clubs, and shopping centre, and towards the west it's about a 25 minute walk along the canal to Camden lock and the attractions of Camden market. And there is an abundance of railway, underground and bus connections in the area. This is a beautiful, calm and central location!
Galatée has everything you'll need to enjoy an original stay in London! We are located in a wonderful part of London. In one direction five minutes walk along the Canal is the new Granary Square development with its fountains, bars, restaurants, cinema and theaters, the famous Word on the Water barge-shop and Harry Potters 9 3/4 platform at Kings Cross. In the other direction, five minutes up the hill is Islington town centre with its markets, many dozens of pubs, restaurants, theatres, comedy houses. There is the world famous Sadler's Wells dance theatre. 30 minutes walk along the canal is famous Camden Market. On the mooring we have a wooded garden with secluded BBQ area which you may use (please buy your own charcoal). There is also a beautiful clinker built rowboat which you may rent (under your own responsibility) or £10/hour (you must be a competent oarsman as the canal needs to be navigated with care). The row up to Kings Cross is beautiful and you can moor up there for a drink or meal. If you are angler, you can fish from the mooring which is a well known fishing spot. Permits and equipment can be supplied for £20/day.
  • Friendly helpful welcoming hosts. Amazing location. Quiet beautiful and convenient for central London and transport. Compact warm and indeed cosy. Suitable if you aren't into sterile luxury hotels.

  • Sarah & Simon were there to greet me immediately upon arrival, showed me around and made me feel at home. The boat was much more spacious than I had expected. Tastefully decorated and clean (except from the fridge which had a bad odor) Such a lovely, quiet setting, too away from the hustle and bustle of the streets of London. It is a 15 minute walk to the nearest train and metro station, so public transit options aren't far away. It's in a non-touristy part of the city with several inexpensive cafes and a couple of small grocery stores nearby so you get a feel for the "real" London. Kitchen and bathroom are are shared basis with Sarah and Simon's unit, but this was never really an issue since they were away for most of my stay. Breakfast staples were offered as well such as juice, cereals and crumpets with jam and butter which saves expense and time on having to eat breakfast somewhere else. I would gladly return if I find myself in London again!

  • An absolutely delightful place to stay. The boat and cabin are very comfortable, beautifully maintained, and well supplied with breakfast items and other comforts. The two of us enjoyed both the convenience to the city center (both Tube and bus are easily accessible, and a rack of rental bikes is right around the corner) and the relative peace and quiet of life on the canal. Sarah and Simon were both very friendly and helpful hosts. It was an affordable and fun alternative to the city's hostels and hotels, and made our week in London especially memorable. We hope to be back!

    Michelle2015-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We spent some levely days on the Galatee. Thank you Simon and Sarah for exeptional place to stay!

    Kay2015-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Simon made us very welcome, and gave us the run of the boat whilst he was away. Boat is smart and well designed, but guest area is very compact, so probably best for 2.

    Barbara2015-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • In short: delighted. Very welcoming hosts, super-convenient location (for us) and very comfortable space. We would definitely stay there again. The hosts are really friendly and welcoming - couldn't hope for better really. And the boat is very comfortable. It's spacious, modern, and very clean. More like an Ikea showroom than a set from Jaws or Das Boot (in a good way). It's definitely not a narrow-boat - it's quite wide and surprisingly long. You get the stern deck (pictured) to yourselves, the hosts use the bow deck. The boat is plenty big so there's absolutely no sense of being on top of each other. So you go through this kind of metal doorway, discretely set into a nondescript brick wall on an inner-city street near King's Cross ... it looks like it probably has some utility pipes behind it, or maybe something to do with BT. Normally you wouldn't even notice it's there. But, unknown to passers-by, it's a secret portal into another world. Down on the canal, you're tucked into a narrow wooded valley that feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of central london. Swans and ducks swirl around hoping for a chip. Some passing joggers and drinkermen with fishing rods might glance over from the far bank, the public side - but they're on the outside looking in. Not just convenient and comfortable but also a bit of a novelty.

    Paul2014-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Sarah and Simon's. The canal is beautiful, the boat is lovely and they are super kind. The location is great, both quiet and at 10/15 min walk from the metro and the international train station. The boat itself is very cute, and functional at the same time. There's natural light inside in every place. Sarah and Simon are great hosts, they helped us in everything we needed, and made us feel great. Thanks a lot!

    Caro2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay with Hanna and Jonny - a great and interesting couple! The location on the Regent's canal was super convenient - a straight train in from Gatwick to St Pancras and then a short walk to the boat. Lots of interesting but non-touristy places nearby and along the canal - the King's Place for one - a lot happening there complete with a hidden restaurant on the canal. Staying on the boat was fine - a lot more interesting than a "vanilla Hilton", and just great sitting out on the deck first thing in the morning with breakfast coffee and the toast and eggs we'd cooked up. All in all a special experience for sure. Next time in London, we'll be back!

Stay on this beautiful romantic narrow boat in the heart of London and see London from a different perspective Velvet Morning is a 57 foot canal boat built over 100 years ago and is full of character and history. She can sleep 4 adults and 1 child.
The accommodation is beautifully designed and has recently been refurbished throughout. It comprises a king size master bed, and a bunk for a single child. The seating area converts in to a double bed so a maximum of 5 people can stay on board. Velvet is perfect for a luxurious romantic getaway for two, or would be great for a family looking for an alternative, fun holiday. The living area comprises a lounge seating area, and dining for three. There is a hand crafted kitchen, with a gas oven and hob, a good size fridge with freezer compartment, a sink and draining board, cupboards and drawers housing all the usual kitchen equipment. The bathroom has a beautiful claw foot slipper bath with a hand shower. The WC is a cassette toilet which would usually have to be emptied by the host every 3- 5 days. Water is held in a tank on-board and needs topping up every few days (depending on your usage). This will be done by your host. In the winter months heating is by the solid fuel stove which burns a combination of smokeless coal and logs which are provided. The stove can be controlled and kept going 24 hours but you need to allow for this in your daily (Website hidden by Airbnb) loading stove before going out and a little attention on your return. It keeps the boat warm and cosy. An eco fan assists circulation Living on board is not quite like a conventional house and needs an understanding and patience- it may therefore not be for everyone. Power is supplied from batteries which means appliances that we take for granted such a hair dryers can run the power supply down very quickly. Essentially, power isn't on tap as we're used to in our homes. If the power runs down the engine will need to be started to charge up the batteries. If there are any problems the host will be on call to assist.
Velvet is to be located in three different locations- West London- Portabello Central London- Kings Cross East London- Shoreditch
  • Just wonderful; can't recommend highly enough! V many thanks Sam -

    Harriet2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic experience! We spent three nights there to celebrate my birthday. Sam was an exceptional host. Would definitely book again when I visit London next time

    Kiwi2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sam is a great host and both Barbara and Velvet are fabulous boats, full of character and very cosy. We had great meals at the local Lebanese and the Waterway and loved being on the water for the weekend. Will definitely make a return visit. For anyone who likes glamping and something a bit different then this is the place!

    Su2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fascinating experience Fun environment similar to glamping Interesting to be in a different and quiet location Speedy follow up from a very patient and thoughtful host Many thanks Sam

  • Our stay on Velvet was unbelievably brilliant. The boating community made us feel very welcome and the mooring place had all the amenities we could have wished for and a wonderful, peaceful outlook. The narrow boat had so many very special touches that made the stay so special. We especially loved sitting on the boat's roof with a glass of wine, watching the world go by, feeding the cygnets and drinking in the ambience of Little Venice. Sam was always there to advise on what we were unsure of and went over and above to ensure our holiday was perfect. By the end of 5 days I felt I had known her all my life; nothing was too much trouble and she gave us lots of advice about where to go to get the most of our visit! We have used Airbnb several times but this holiday has been far away the best experience we have ever had .

    Jayne2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • sam was a brilliant hot, well organised and very prompt with replying. She had kindly left us a few lovely goodies. Would definitely recommend staying here.

    Ria2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house boat was perfect for my 12 year old and me. It' feels a little adventurous but it's also clean, cozy and convenient. Sam was a great host. We enjoyed taking one of the tour boats from Little Venice up the canal to Camden Market, walking to Notting Hill and also eating locally. Would definitely do it again.

  • Nice place. Nice location. But I was there during a cold spell, and the bedroom doesn't get warm enough. Likely a nice place to stay in spring and summer.

Lizzie Harlow is berthed at St Katharine Docks, 50 St Katharines Way, London on the Thames. It has 2 cabins, the forward Cabin has two separate berths, the aft Cabin is a large double bedded Cabin.
  • It's a (Website hidden by Airbnb) don't expect a hotel standard of accomodation. If you haven't experienced a stay on a small cruiser before you could compare it to 'glamping' or caravanning. Basic but comfortable accomodation and use of the marina shower facilities. More character than a Premier Inn and much more (Website hidden by Airbnb) experience and in a really good location, handy for the Tower Hill Tube. Tom is a friendly host. I would definitely recommend and would certainly book again.

    Jez2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • First, we're a small family, with a 7yo girl, and we were the second guest is this boat. This boat is definitely a nice experience, hyper central, very funny, with an attractive price. Tom is very kind, and will help you if anything's wrong. The boat is small, vintage, not as confortable as a flat (shower outside, no fridge/oven, manual pump for WC), but we were a kind of "beta"guests, so Tom should fix many small things in the near future. It's like a wood-tent on a water, in the center of London, and we enjoyed it a lot !

    David2018-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • In the heart of City of London this boat is perfectly located. One can find a lot of pubs and restaurants as well as a big supermarket on walking distance. If you want to spend just few days it's ok. There was also few inconveniences. Except the toilet there was no running water. There is a strange smell and I had to wash all my clothes when I got home. Beside that it's all what one can expect from a cheap sleep on a boat.

    Огнян2018-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Iconic location and a great place. Definitely ideal if you're used to boats and a great budget price.

    Martin2018-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Expect modest accommodations in an excellent location at a manageable price. Tom is a decent host ... laid back it responsive. I'd do it again when and if I return to London.

    Ayo2018-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • You will not find a better value in this area. As long as you know in advance this is a boat and not a luxury hotel, your expectations will be exceeded. The washrooms were very nice, but a short walk from the boat. Great access to the tube, river tours, and hop-on-hop-off tours. Right beside Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. Mattress is firm. Pillows are soft and bedding was warm and clean. You must be able to climb onto and into the boat. The refrigerator was not working, so you may need to ask if it has been repaired if you require one.

    Brandon2018-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • The boat is very well situated in London, no doubt about it. Unfortunately it's worn down and the walk to showers/toilet in the harbour is inconvenient... Tom is a great host: easy communication and quick problemsolver.

    Alexia2018-08-14T00:00:00Z

We look forward to hosting you on our beautiful, newly built, broad beam barge "Swanee". Accommodation comprises a double bedroom, fully fitted kitchen with seating area, bathroom with shower with flushing toilet (!). A garden decking area is available for use alongside the boat. We are within easy access of Heathrow Airport, M25, M3, M4 and there are direct rail links to London Waterloo. A wonderful place to unwind ...
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Swanea during our Easter break. It was an amazing experience and so relaxing. The boat was clean and had all the kitchen equipment to cook a hearty dinner. I absolutely recommend it and we would love to come back again.

    Nikoo2018-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • I would not hesitate to recommend Swanee she is beautiful. Mike & Sally are wonderful hosts who respected our privacy whilst aboard.

    Deborah2018-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in the barge, Swanee. Mike and Sally were delightful hosts and Mike was willing to provide transportation to nearby sights or Heathrow for a very reasonable fee. We were able to easily go to London by train which we did almost every day. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to return.

    Claudia2016-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic hosts! Such a cool little boat. I've never stayed on one before and it was a great experience. Drinking wine on the front bow "patio" with a couple friends made it that much better. I highly recommend if you are in the area. I was there when it was fall (40s-50s) and the boat warmed right up, so if you are worried about being cold don't be.

    Stephanie2016-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic boat, very comfortable. It has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Very easy to walk to different pubs and the abundance of wildlife is wonderful. Very relaxing to sit on the boat, drinking tea and watching the world go by. We will be back!

    Clare2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Super spot nice and quiet but plenty to see on the river too.

    Martin2017-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • A gem of a place to stay, small and perfectly formed, cosy and well equipped too.

    Tone2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Swanee is a fantastic boat that made for a perfect chilled weekend getaway. The boat itself was very clean, well equipment and lovely for cosy evenings on the river. It was also very warm with a great hot shower. The location is good for ease of access and walks along the Thames to Hampton. There are several good quality pubs close by too. Highly recommend. Big thanks to the hosts for excellent communication and a friendly welcome.

  • This is a gorgeous little boat! Full of character and interest. There are little welcoming touches by the helpful host. Excellent location for soaking up the incredibly buzzing atmosphere of the canal round there. Yet a surprisingly peaceful and low-key feel to everything once you step off dry land. Lovely to feel ever-so-slightly part of the canal-boat community even briefly. A gorgeous, quirky little hideaway in the midst of everything.

    Juliet2018-06-25T00:00:00Z

SAMARA is berthed at St Katharine Docks, London, E1W 1LA on the Thames adjacent Tower Bridge and 200 metres from the "Tower of London", and less than a mile from the City of London. Being a location of major historic importance, for any visitor. She accommodates 6 people in 3 Cabins each with 2 single berths & 1 toilet. MUNRO CABIN 2 Berth (Luxury) Aft. BANK CABIN 2 Berth (Standard) Starboard Side. EVERSFIELD CABIN 2 Berth (Ideal Single) Port Side.
SAMARA is unique and is in it's original condition as built in 1949, and designed to be on anchor at sea. It is not a Hotel and never will be and a different living experience, for those seeking something different in the heart of London Being in a Marina, I have had no complaint of motion illness, it is not at sea but a very tranquil environment, but gentle wind motion on the boat, that you will feel. The 3 cabins are all accessed from the aft passage and has a shared head (bathroom) within the aft passage. The boat has full 240 volt electricity and wifi access. The Marina Complex has 10 individual hotel style bathrooms in the central dock area and west dock for guests and is accessed by security key, as are all the marina pontoons. Each cabin has an internal lock and all external doors are lockable if required.
From the Marina the following features of London can viewed, The Thames, Tower Bridge, The Tower of London, The Shard, and the City Skyscape. It is literally a 5 minute walk and you are at the centre of Tower Bridge and all the viewing from that point. The Marina boasts many restaurants and has a very traditional English Pub called the Dickens Inn, and it sets the Standard for Global Marinas, with extremely friendly and very able staff.
  • A boat is not as comfortable as a hotel but the magic of a boat is unbeatable. The facilities in SKD are like a 4*-hotel and Tom is the kind of host you'll never find in London.

    Claudio2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Be adventurous... book the boat! Took our boys (11 & 14) on a surprise trip to London and found this gem of a location. If you haven't been to this area of London to stay, you are missing out. Tom's boat is so close to public transport and literally right across the street from the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. We decided to make our trip boat themed and visited the Golden Hinde (nearby) and took a canal boat ride too. Your Oyster card will even get you a ride on the WaterBus. You can take it right to St. Katharine Docks from Westminster. Too bad we didn't have time for Greenwich & the Cutty Sark! Tom is a gracious host. He responded quickly to our messages, met us right on time and showed us all we needed to know about the boat and the marina. His description of the boat and facilities available are spot on. Note that shower facilities are not on the boat but in the marina office area, a few minutes walk away. We had no problems with this at all, and the facilities are sparking clean. Hairdryers in every shower room. There are loads of cafes, restaurants and pubs right in the marina, as well as two grocery stores. Seriously, you will not find a better bargain in Central London, nor will you find a better adventure. The Royal Barge was at the marina the day we arrived and we had great fun posting photos of "our neighbor's boat"!

    Lisa2018-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay on Toms charming boat. The cabins (especially the larger one in the aft) were beautiful and cozy. The marina was very calm and felt safe and open. When we were exhausted from sightseeing we spent a few nights just lying on deck, reading, and those were some of our best nights. The walk to the showers in the “haven” was quite pleasant and the showers/bathrooms were modern and well kept. Tom was a very helpful and friendly host.

    Sofia2018-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely boat experience, staying in saint Katherine's dock was awesome, right next to the tower of London and tower bridge with lots of lovely eating places around the Marina . The private club house with facilities was very clean and quiet.

    Kimberley2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great stay if you love Wooden Boats , it is Authentic Rustic and very pleasurable. If you want the Ritz this is not it but just a great way to stay in London city

    Tom2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's boat was a special experience for our family of five people. It's a bit like camping in the centre of London. Tom was on the boat too, but we didn't see him a lot. For the price it's really good and maybe the best you can find in the middle of the city. Don't expect too much, but even as a family of 5 we had enaugh space to feel comfortable.

    Dominik2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a superb place to stay! A great location, being right at the heart of St Katherines Dock with all the surrounding bars and restaurants on the door step. However, once on the boat it is an oasis of tranquillity. Built in 1949, Samara retains all of the lovely original features and it was a privilege to stay on her. However, for future guests who are not used to staying on the water, it must be remembered that it is not a house or hotel so the facilities are limited in comparison but certainly do not degrade the experience, in my opinion anyway. Tom was a great host who welcomed me on board personally. All round, I would thoroughly recommend and I will definitely be staying there again in the future if available.

    Craig2018-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at the Samara. Tom is a great host and his cosy ship is located at a very attractive marina. A great place to stay when you visit London!

A stay with a difference - aboard our luxury Sealine motor cruiser. Moored at the quiet and safe marina with 24 hour security guards and CCTV, yards from Thorpe Park. She is a spacious boat, ideal for a family of four. We like the four separate seating areas, allowing each member of the family to have their own space, lots of green space to run around. Don't hesitate to book this stunning boat for a stay with a difference" Onsite Showers, toilets with disabled facilities and disabled parking.
The opportunity to stay onboard a luxury motor cruiser. On-board. Blue Diamond has a double berth with en-suite at the aft. There is a hanging wardrobe and ample storage lockers. The en-suite has a shower and separate toilet and wash hand basin. Forward, in the bows, there is a separate twin/double bedded cabin with hanging wardrobe and access to a shower/toilet and wash basin. This shower/toilet doubles as the day heads. There is revercycle air- conditioning and diesel heating. The galley is fully equipped with fridge, gas hob and oven/grill, microwave oven, electric kettle and toaster. The saloon is light and airy with a drinks fridge, plush leather seating and a large table. Entertainment facilities include; stereo radio/CD player and 19'' TV with surround sound/DVD player. There are standard 3-pin UK sockets in each room, along with a dual USB charging point located near the helm seat. Outside is the ‘cockpit’ a large seating area with table which is enclosed from the elements by screens [these may be removed in warm weather, or left in place if cold]. It’s an ideal area for outside dining and drinks. There are also stairs to the flybridge, but this is not open to access, since removal of the covers is not that easy. Bed linen and towels are supplied for four people.
Quiet gated secure marina with CCTV and 24/7 security, a club house with a bar for a quite riverside drink and basic food menu.
  • The yacht is a lovely, clean space with great facilities. The hosts were very accommodating with check in, even though they had to wait for us. The yacht is moored in a fairly large, full marina but it still is very quiet and peaceful; a relaxing break. Thank you both.

  • Firstly the hosts were lovely and very quick with responses. The owners daughter came to meet us at the car park and led us to the boat. The boat is beautiful and was just perfect for myself, my parents and my younger sister. My mother being in a wheelchair was no problem at all and once on the boat it was ideal for her as everything is nearby. Great location, great hosts, just great all round. We would definitely recommend just be warned.. you too may catch the boat bug! As since coming home we are all shopping for our very own boat haha. Thanks again for having us and blessings to you all.

Barbara is perfect for a couple, or would be great for a familiar friends looking for an alternative, fun holiday. The living area comprises a lounge seating area, and dining for four. There is a modern kitchen, with a gas oven and hob, a good size fridge with freezer compartment, a sink and draining board, cupboards and drawers housing all the usual kitchen equipment. The bathroom has a shower and a pump out toilet. We provide all towels and toiletries. Water is held in a tank on-board and needs topping up every few days (depending on your usage). This will be done by your host. In the winter months heating is by the solid fuel stove which burns a combination of smokeless coal and logs which are provided. The stove can be controlled and kept going 24 hours but you need to allow for this in your daily routine, loading stove before going out and a little attention on your return. It keeps the boat warm and cosy. An eco fan assists circulation. Living on board is not quite like a conventional house and needs an understanding and patience- it may therefore not be for everyone.
  • We had a fantastic 2 night stay on Barbara. Everything was as Sam described and we felt very relaxed after chilling out in the boutique surroundings. The location was perfect to explore the Regents canal, Portobello and Camden. Sam was a great host and came to meet us when we got lost. (our fault). A wonderful weekend!

  • We had a lovely stay in portobello. The boat had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Sam was great, she was really helpful when booking and during our stay was readily available to help with any questions. We'd definitely recommend for an experience that's a little bit different.

  • Sam was a fantastic host — super responsive, very flexible on arrival/departure time and made sure she was available but not not intrusive. It was a total pleasure spending my time on the boat.

  • What a great way to spend a weekend in London. We felt we had a weekend away within a weekend in the city it's a lovely area. We found good eateries on Formosa Road just over the bridge and 2 pubs v near. A short walk along the tow path gets you to Sainsbury's then the Tube Sam was so helpful in her communication and even came to get us from the station after Friday night tube delay. The stove warms the boat up so quickly. The bed was very cosy with exquisite bed linen! And lots of ducks and swans appeared at the window while we had breakfast Just book it!!

Situated on the South Bank of the Thames, the area encompasses some of the best new build developments in London as well as the wonderful lateral warehouses of Shad Thames and the magnificent Georgian townhouses of Southwark. Combined with excellent transport links, world renowned cultural amenities and fantastic bars and eateries, the area is a truly outstanding place to live. As a city with thousands of years of history, it’s understandable that certain London areas can give you the unnerving feeling of being in a time-warp. Strolling through the Victorian streets of Shad Thames next to the river, for example, and you’d be forgiven for expecting to find the likes of Sherlock Holmes or David Copperfield to suddenly leap out from behind a building. These narrow routes between former warehouses are frequently used as film sets due to their historic features, which provides plenty of amusement for the locals who often see actors in costume strolling along the unique iron walkways once used to transport barrels. But this riverside area doesn’t just offer the chance to glimpse an A-lister in a wig – with beautifully renovated warehouse apartments, high-end restaurants and unbeatable transport connections, it’s no surprise that London Bridge and Shad Thames are the ideal place to stay.

The master cabin of historic 19th C sailing ship De Walvisch, moored 500m from Tower Bridge. A solid teak hand-crafted double bed set into a luxurious hard-wood, panelled and enameled room, complete with own submarine sink and antique fixtures. All stays on board ship include a cooked English breakfast in the mornings, served in the ship's galley from Navy silver. Like a house, the ship is fully insulated and centrally heated - it is not cold in winter!
De Walvisch is an ex-cargo ship, that used to carry eels from Holland to London - restored to her original lines and with all her round wood replaced, she is one of the finest examples of a 19th C sailing Klipper in the UK. The bow bedroom is the master Captain's cabin of the ship, with a bespoke-built solid teak double bed. A solid brass porthole, from the SS Transylvania, allows a view to the chain locker and prow of the ship. An antique submarine sink with hot and cold running water folds down from the wall. Access to the room is through a watertight bulk head door, which came from the HMS Intrepid, the ship on board which the Falkland Islands were surrendered back to the British. There is central heating throughout the ship, as well as a wood burning stove in the main hold to heat the vessel, with an original ornate 19th C French cast-iron radiator in the bow. Like a house, the ship is fully insulated and when the weather is cold we turn on radiators...she is not cold in winter! There are two cabins available to book as guests on board, the Captain's cabin and the First Officer's Cabin.
  • De Walvisch is in a great location Angel and Thomas are attentive and friendly hosts. The environment is unique.

    Stuart2018-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • I arrive late at night to a warm and happy welcome, for which I was really grateful after a long flight. Angel and Thomas are excellent people - interesting and interested in the world, and they are lovely hosts. I loved the feeling of being on a ship in the middle of London, it was fantastic to come back to at the end of a hectic day and feel comforted on the river. It somehow makes the history and grandness of the city a lot more accessible. And Angel's breakfasts are delicious - they will set you up perfectly for a good day's touring.

    Gabrielle2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Keep fit! There's climbing to do. Best have flat shoes with grip. If you love ships, artefacts of another age, taxidermy, e.g. tortoise with tiara, monkey wearing pearls, old ships maps, brass light switches, and so much more to catch the eye and imagination, stay. The double bunk is comfortable and being gently rocked to sleep by shifting Thames water is swell. Hosts Angel and Thomas are delightful and more than interesting, both being artists and very alert on various issues and topics. The breakfast was perfect. We will stay again, when hopefully in the area. - how that has changed through the years, too. From cobbled routes through wharfs to a place where few glasss and chrome apartments are sold under £1.5 million (small, for that, too) - another dimension to your trip... their contrast of modernity to the marvellous historical De Walvisch and other old vessels moored there. Just a short walk away you can also enjoy St Katherine's Dock, packed with ritzy modern crafts and many good restaurants. And, of course, the Tower and Tower Bridge are near neighbours. Have fun - go for it.

  • This stay was all we expected and much more. Good directions and communication meant that we got there easily. The accommodation was excellent -warm, comfortable and exquisitely styled. The great location on a historic ship on the Thames gave an extra dimension to a stay in central London, yet the place itself is in a quiet residential area, which allowed a good nights rest. The breakfast was splendid and it was lovely to share the family's home and yet to have complete independence. Angel and Thomas are super hosts -interesting, friendly and a good source of local information. Highly recommended!

  • Very friendly host, wonderful views, and great travel tips for local train and food accomodations. It was a wonderful find for us and a refreshingly unique way to experience the city. We were just close enough to all the sites but not right in the crowded tourist mess we generally try to avoid.

Seahorse is unique. A Dutch Barge built in 1906 moored next to Kew Bridge, a few minutes walk from Kew Gardens and only half an hour away from Waterloo station by train. Enjoy all the mod cons in a rustic environment close to London, surrounded by nature. The boat has central heating and wood burning stoves, so you will be cosy, even in the winter.
  • We stayed aboard Seahorse for 4 nights, as I was working in the area and wanted to book somewhere special for us all to stay as it was my husband's birthday. Seahorse didn't disappoint! She is a wonderful boat, spacious and very well equipped. My daughter loved the view of the Thames and spent many hours waving at passing boats and watching the birdlife. The Thames path is right next to the mooring, so we did some lovely walks along it. We slept very well in the comfortable double berth and enjoyed eating in the galley and the wheelhouse, both with wonderful views. The shower was lovely and hot, and it was also very convenient to be able to wash clothes aboard. We genuinely didn't want to leave this wonderful boat and would recommend her highly to anyone who gets the chance to stay aboard her. Thanks Pat and Simone, for letting us experience your wonderful home!

    Kate2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Seahorse is a wonderful houseboat to escape to for a holiday. We stayed in January and the boat was incredibly warm and cosy with both central heating and plenty of log burning fires. It has a lovely well equipped kitchen to cook meals, but there are also some nice pubs nearby for those who want to eat out. The decor is unique and homely and it was lovely waking up to watch rowers floating past in the mornings! The roll top bath in the bedroom was a real luxury! A really relaxing and special experience and one we would recommend.

    sara2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Seahorse has met all expectations and a little more, with its comfort and fantastic location at Kew Bridge. We stayed in Seahorse from December 28 to January 2 and loved every minute. Hope to come back again some day

Large, light and spacious Belgian spitz barge with beautifully decorated rooms, less than 10 minutes walk from Clapham Junction train station and situated on the London Clipper (river taxi) stop. Spectacular river views, great transport links, comfortable beds and cooked breakfasts. Pets and young children are very welcome.

  • You couldn't ask for a better stay. Outstanding hospitality, 5 star breakfast (with the most amazing sausages!) the comfiest bed ever, all in the most stylish of surroundings. Jenny and Henry have put a lot of love, thought and hard work into their superb home and it has really paid off. We can't wait for our next visit!

    Polly2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and i spent our last night in London at Ara, after a couple of years spent in this city and we wanted to try something different that could be in link with our departure. Most people would consider such an experience as bucholic, and yes that is. But it was more than we could expect : this well refurbished boat is a peacefull place that offers place and quietness, and this couldn't be complete without the perfect attention we received from our hosts.

    Aurélien2018-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you again Jenny - we had such a lovely time.

  • I cannot recommend this barge enough as a place to stay in London. I honestly cannot fault the hosts or facilities. It is beautifully decorated, spacious, cozy, great location, fabulous hosts, adorable dog, and much nicer than a hotel. I hope to visit it again.

    Kerry2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Top notch accommodation and hospitality with the quite unique house boat experience close to Clapham Junction and right on the Clipper pontoon. The outside garden space and the ever changing view of the Thames are simply superb.

  • Prepare to be pleasantly surprised by Jenny & Henry's amazing hospitality! The room was fantastic, the location perfect and the company outstanding - highly recommend for anyone wanting a few nights in central London to explore the city! And on a such a unique houseboat - brilliant! They're very flexible to your needs if you need to arrive early/late or have a special request - just have a chat with them beforehand and they're happy to discuss. Only thing left to say is - "stop reading the reviews and book the room!" You'll have an awesome stay! :)

Complete house on a boat with a double bed, shower room, fully equipped kitchen and a comfy living room. Warm and cosy with a fireplace. Perfect for a boat experience or just an affordable place to stay on a short trip to London. We are a cruising boat so we move every 2 weeks around London - please check for our location while you book.
Guests enjoy the whole boat and full privacy, no areas are shared with anybody else.
The waterways of London are so relaxing and enchanting, you'll never know you're in one of Europe's mega cities :)
  • Anna was a very kind and helpful host who welcomed us with a warm smile and lots of tips and tricks before leaving us to discover the boat on our own. The boat looks exactly like on the pictures and is a great experience! With kings cross we were very lucky with the central area as the boat is moving around London from time to time. The blankets were warm and in the case of very cold weather it would have been easy to heat up the room in minutes. Coffee, WiFi, (usb) sockets- everything was there in this little beauty. Thank you, Anna!

    Nadine2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Really cute narrowboat, much larger than I thought. No kettle, but I think that was deliberate due to power stuff; the sockets were not working unfortunately. The wifi was provided via a mobile phone and tethering, which the Three network eventually detected so it broke about an hour or so before checkout. No worries! Totally warm enough. Would definitely stay again. thank you !

    Chris2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • I loved Anna's boat,it was my first stay in such place,so it is unique and so cosy and adventurous . Good central location. The boat is very clean inside with a soft comfortable bed, kitchen equipment and coffee maker. You have to know some rules about turning on the engine for hotrr water, but it nothing hard to do and understand. Definetely recomend and will come again! :)

    Sophie2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Anna was really friendly and explained all the elements of the boat I needed to know. Fresh coffee was a great suprise and everything I needed was on board. The bed was really comfortable and the boat was nice and warm and tidy.

    Katie2017-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Anna's boat was a unique and fun place to stay in London! Before my arrival and during my stay Anna was easy to reach and quick to answer questions. Her friend Elisa met me at check-in to show me the ropes which was greatly appreciated. There are some boat related activities which I hadn't expected (starting the engine each day to keep water hot, turning on the pump to drain the shower and the finer points of the toilet) but were totally doable. Actually I feel quite "nautical" right now. Anna came by later to be sure everything was ok which was wonderful. If you do plan to cook be aware there is no refrigerator. The power draw is too much for the solar panels so getting food as you go is the best approach. I would recommend Anna's home to anyone who wants to try something out of the ordinary and is looking for a bit of an adventure! Thanks Anna! I enjoyed my stay.

    Gwen2017-06-12T00:00:00Z

Beautifully renovated Humber Keel Dutch Barge 30 mins from London Waterloo. Two spacious double bedrooms, plus a double futon (very comfortable) in the living area. Cot available. Central Heating. Tiled bathroom with cast iron roll-top bath. All facilities work just like a normal house. Use kitchen, living space, and large outdoor deck. Help yourself to tea and coffee and feel free to bring your own food to cook!
Relaxed family home: Dutch Barge on a charming leafy island on the Thames. We've been building our home from scratch into this Humber Keel Dutch Barge and we are thrilled with the result. It's very light and airy and spacious. The boat is called 'Manoah', which means 'Resting-Place'.
This is a great spot for Rugby at Twickenham, Tennis at Wimbledon, and of course Hampton Court Palace (Flower Show, Good Food Festival...). Also just a lovely location in itself with great walks through Bushy Park (with deer and parakeets) or along the towpath to a riverside playground. 5 minutes walk from the Barge is a bustling street lined with fabulous restaurants and cafes.
  • I was made to feel so welcome in David and Anandi's family barge. I turned up late, I was grubby, tired and lost and they went out of their way to make me feel at home. I slept so well in their very calm, dark and absolutely silent white room and had a refreshed start to the day with a cup of coffee, bowl of cereal and splash of eau de Thames. I've already started recommending, I hope that's alright David and Anandi!

    Adam2015-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very unique space and super hospitable hosts. Accommodations were very comfortable. Dave picked us up as it would be difficult to find on your own. Tea and breakfast are provided. I felt very comfortable sharing their home with Dave, Anandi and Aylah.I would recommend this for anyone wanting to stay near the river and. Travel into London is a 40 minute relaxing train ride. The town of Molesey is also very enjoyable. We had a lovely time.

    Diane2016-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect Airbnb experience. Stunning and unusual property, great location and really helpful hosts. Thanks Anandi and Dave

    Jessica2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house is everything you want! This secret getaway is huge, cosy and well decorated! There are some bugs, because there's water and bushes around. I didn't know that there is no wifi and cellphone connection is poor. So it's kind of off grid, which can be fun. We didn't get to meet the host and he was also quite busy, so I had to find my own directions. All in all it was great, but not everything was superhost-worthy.

    S.2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay with Anandi & Dave. The boat is such an amazing space. Location great and most importantly Anandi and Save were lovely, as was their beautiful girl Isla! We had to leave quickly to get back to our own baby, so sadly missed out of breakfast, but that looked great as well. Thanks guys!

    Alex2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay, very peaceful location but close enough for our trip to Twickenham. Hampton Court is literally across the road and there are places to eat on the doorstep. Dave and Anandi were perfect hosts, Dave met us and showed us around despite us not a arriving till after midnight! Would def use this place again if we are to stay around the same area. The boat itself is cosy and very comfortable with plenty of space to relax as a group of 6, only downside is headroom in the shower if your over 6ft!!!

    Sara2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Anandi+Dave were incredibly welcoming and friendly, couldn't ask for better hosts! Their barge is a really cool place to stay, definately pick this for a unique and exciting experience! Would happily go back again.

Narrowboat Dolly is a traditional narrow boat on the Regent's Canal - my permanent home in King's Cross - other mooring locations can be arranged. I host one (or two bed-sharing) guests for a short stay, very close to London's finest transport hub.
I host one adult guest (in exceptional cases two bed-sharing adult guests), usually for one night - in the guest saloon. Staying onboard a narrowboat is a unique experience! The host sleeps in a separate enclosed captain's cabin behind the heads, by the engine room. Narrowboat Dolly has all facilities on board - wc (elsan), hot shower over a half bath at midships. There is a galley kitchen adjacent to the main guest saloon, with bookshelves, hifi and folding table. The guest saloon at the front of the boat has a comfortable fold-out bed, a Mørso solid fuel stove, and bow deck access with canalside seating and table.
A vibrant innercity area close to local national and international transport links, with myriad entertainment, culture and recreation options. All that central London offers is in close proximity, and King's Cross, Highbury, Angel and Bloomsbury are all walkable distances away.
  • Great location, right in the heart of Kings Cross everything a short walk away! Narrowboat dolly was charming and was moored very securely and only accessible by secure gates, great experience and a fantastic base for the rest of London, thanks Greg :)

The unit sleeps three and has all mod cons on a secure and unique private mooring in the heart of London surrounded by wildlife just a few mins from Kings Cross & Islington with their bars, restaurants, shops & theatres. You can relax on the mooring, cook a BBQ, dine in the wheelhouse, or take the rowboat into the sunset to Kings Cross for an evening drink.
Galatée is a new houseboat located on a secluded wooded mooring, private and gated, right in the heart of London. She is fully secure and has the important advantage of a beautiful permanent mooring which enables her to be fully equipped with mains electricity and plentiful water. She is light and bright, heated with individual electric heaters. When possible we will be there personally to welcome you and explain everything about life on board Galatée and how the mooring works. If we are away a friend will meet and greet you. Wifi is available free of charge. Please note that there are 25 steps down to the mooring and a big step onto the boat. The private entrance to your part of the houseboat is via our beautiful new stern wheelhouse. The wheelhouse has a small single berth (perched under the roof) and a table which can accommodate 6 for dining. It is a great place to drink prosecco and watch the sunset over the canal. The wheelhouse gives access to the main living space, with a sitting area, dining table and kitchen (utensils, oven, toaster, Nespresso, Nutribullet...). The Ligne Roset sofa opens into a comfortable sofa-bed (160 cms wide). There is a little private bathroom with basin, good shower/small bath and plentiful hot water, and a chemical toilet. Water on board Galatée is perfectly fresh and drinkable from all the taps. In winter, there is a solid fuel stove that can be used for extra heat (please advise us in advance if you wish to use this). Living on board is comfortable and fun but there are some things to remember: - you must be aware that space on board is more confined and the interior soundproofing is less efficient than in an apartment; - water is stored in a tank under the flooring and you will hear a noise from the supply pump when taps are turned on; - there is a chemical toilet, it has a lower compartment for waste which is the chemical tank. Pull the grey lever towards you to open the chemical tank when you use the toilet and close the grey lever when you have finished. Please do not use the flush unless necessary since it fills the chemical tank with water. Full linen is provided, as well as an iron, hair dryer and complimentary soaps/shampooing. At the gatehouse you will find a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a small supermarket round the corner and it's an easy walk to Islington Angel shopping center (Waitrose, M&S, Sainsbury's) and to Chapel Market for fresh market food. Living on a houseboat is not like living on dry land. Some people expect it to be cold and damp, but our home is dry and warm. Galatée is securely moored and does not sway except in the wake of a large boat going by. Regent's Canal is picturesque, calm and peaceful and there is a beautiful view over the water by day and night; you can see ducks, geese and swans, and from time to time say hi to other friendly house-boaters who go chugging by or wait for their turn to go through the tunnel. The Islington tunnel is almost a mile long and can only take boats in one direction at a time. We hope you will enjoy living on the water! Some extra facilities: On the mooring we have a wooded garden with a BBQ area which you may use (pls buy your own charcoal). You can sit outside on the bench by the stern of the boat or recline in the hammock. We are also pleased to offer the possibility of using our beautiful little clinker-built rowing boat, called Acis, in the spring/summer/autumn, if you already know how to use a rowing boat and would like to have a short row up the canal. Please ask us beforehand; it is of course at your own risk for yourself and your passengers. Maximum 4 people aboard. Note that rowing is quite hard work! (you must be a competent oarsman as the canal sometimes has some traffic and needs to be navigated with care). It is a pleasant row up to the Rotunda pub at Kings Place (just 6-10 minutes) or you can go a little further on to visit Granary Square with its fountains and many excellent restaurants. If you are angler, you can fish from the mooring which is a well known fishing spot. Permits and equipment can be supplied for £20/day.
Galatée has everything you'll need to enjoy an original stay in London! We are located in a wonderful part of London. In one direction five minutes walk along the Canal is the new Granary Square development with its fountains, bars, restaurants, cinema and theaters, the famous Word on the Water floating book shop and Harry Potter's 9 3/4 platform at Kings Cross. In the other direction, five minutes up the hill is Islington town centre with its markets, many dozens of pubs, restaurants, theatres, comedy houses. There is the world famous Sadler's Wells dance theatre. 30 minutes walk along the canal is Camden lock and Camden Market.

This is not a residential letting or tenancy agreement. You are inducted on fire safety. I will be on hand for any questions around maintaining safety.
We are offering two options at present, one in central London and one further afield. 1) A fantastic location further out of the centre of town, nearest tube being 15 mins walk away (Uxbridge). This location will give you an opportunity to explore both London by tube (39mins to Baker Street) as well as a hidden haven known as Denham village in among Colne Valley regional park, some 15mins by bus or about 30mins walk from the boat. You also have a 30min bus or tube to another beautiful spot on the canal known as Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire. Or if you fancy a walk, 2.5 hours along the canal! Don't worry you can get the tube or bus back! These really are lovely loctions that you wouldn't expect inside the M25 motorway! 2) If you would prefer to be in central London, we will need to arrange in advance and there will be a minimum stay of 3 nights because its at least a 6 hour cruise to Westbourne Park! Therefore the most likely point will be around Westbourne Park or Paddington unless you are happy with less interesting points further west such as Ladbrooke Grove, Kensal Green, Alperton. It really depends on your preference as some people have no problen where the boat is as long as they can jump on a tube.
  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful short stay on Jamie’s narrowboat. Jamie was a fantastic host. He was in contact with us prior to our arrival to answer all of our questions and provide us directions to the boat. He made us feel very welcome and went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable and special. It’s a beautiful boat and it was obvious to us that it is loved and cared for. We immediately felt at home, and were wishing that this was our home. I'm sure that I’ll be contacting Jamie again before my next trip to London. Thank you.

  • Great spot! Beautiful boat on the canal. Jim was friendly and even set a fire for me each night to make sure the boat was warm when I showed up.

  • We had an amazing stay on Jim's houseboat, and want to give our kindest regards for a wonderful stay. It was a little nippy when we were in London but after we got the fire going, the boat was really cosy and we stayed lovely and warm inside. It was really rustic having the fire and the boat had everything that we needed, plus it was easy to get round by public transport. The neighbours are friendly, the location is peaceful and right by the park. I wish we were able to stay a little longer!

  • Jim was abroad, so his lovely friend Emily played host. The boat was spotless and in a fantastic place - Little Venice. It's got everything you need and is even cosier than it looks in the photos. Emily recommended a great little cafe and answered anything we needed whenever we asked. I'll be back!

  • Jim's boat was absolutely lush - the pictures really don't do it justice. Cosy and warm with everything we needed and lots of helpful notes and tips to help us adjust to life on a boat. Comms with Jim were great - both before and during, and our location (Paddington Central) couldn't have been better. The decor was lovely - classic and homely, with a great use of space. The bed was comfy, the power supply and hot water worked well, and kitchen was perfect. Could have happily spent a lot longer on board. We very quickly made new friends with the local boating community, and felt v lucky to have found such a great place for our first Airbnb experience.

  • A wonderful experience and a great alternative way to experience London. My girlfriend and I fell in love with Jamie's boat during our short stay. Jamie was very accommodating allowing for our late arrival and departure. Would certainly stay again - Thank Jamie!

  • We enjoyed our time on Jamie's boat a lot! The neighborhood was pleasant as well, plenty of nice pubs (we really liked the Anchor & Hope) etc. It was too bad we had to leave that soon, but we had a good couple of days! Jamie was very kind and you could call for his assistance any time. We would definitely recommend this Narrow Boat and we were thinking about returning in the future! Goos & Goosje

  • Jim's boat is truly a wonderful and creative place. We liked it that you can decide where you want the boat - in a calm area or in the city. Jim was very communicative and helpful to us. We can recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a cosy place!
