Beach
“Rio Del Mar Beach is the main beach in the community of Rio Del Mar in Aptos, CA. It starts in the waterfront area at the end of Rio Del Mar Boulevard and continues south for almost a mile on Beach Drive to the end. There are public parking lots at both ends of Rio Del Mar Beach. Between these lots are street parking spaces along Beach Drive where a sidewalk promenade has stairs to the beach in various spots. This long wide sandy beach is the southern part of Seacliff State Beach. The rest of the state park is on the other side of Aptos Creek. From the creek area it is easy to see the pier and the famous concrete ship (SS Palo Alto) in the main part of Seacliff State.”

“A must-see when you're in Aptos. The S.S. Palo Alto has been at the end of the pier at Seacliff State Beach since 1929! Although you can no longer board the old ship, it's worth the walk to the end if the pier to get as close as possible to the old gal. ”

Beach
“Closest local beach access. Located at the south end of Cliff Drive (about a 2-3 minute drive from The Cottage.) Follow the paved road at the park, through the park and down to the beach. It is not officially allowed, you will find most dogs are off leash at this beach.”

Beach
“Hidden Beach Park is a small, hard-to-find park in a creek ravine that empties out on a sandy beach in the Rio Del Mar community in Aptos. The park has grass lawns, a kids playground, and picnic tables. There are only eight spaces in the parking lot and the street is too narrow for shoulder parking. A small overflow lot is just down the street, but that’s it parking-wise. A paved ramp leads to a wide section of beach that is between housing developments built right on the sand. Half way down the hill are two benches next to the path that look out to the Pacific Ocean. To find Hidden Beach Park from Highway 1, take the Rio Del Mar Boulevard exit and follow it west to Cliff Drive which eventually ends at the parking lot.”

“Platform Beach Aptos - Come here to go to the beach and avoid crowds. Sometimes you can see dolphins or even a rainbow in certain weather. If you go up the beach towards Moss landing just a little ways you can see dogs off a leash and they can run free, starting from the area with houses along the beachfront, right next platform Beach. Look for a parking spot outside the paid parking area, so you can park for free, not too far away. ”

“Get a massage here while on vacation, walk from out property. The place is right by the beach and small yet comfortable. The price for the massages are a steal for what you get. If you prefer, you may make reservations online and pay for it upfront, saving time. ”
