Holiday Rentals in Roundwood

Just booked in Roundwood

Imagine a charming guesthouse (also possible to rent as a whole house from February 2017 with owner and dachshunds living in annexe on property) only 40 minutes by car from Dublin, yet utterly pastoral and romantic, in the heart of the beautiful Garden County and within a few minutes of great walking in famous Glendalough! Unwind in this charming and peaceful home and let your hostess spoil you with delicious breakfasts....or if you prefer, you can have the house to yourselves!
My space is cosy and imaginatively decorated with feminine colour schemes and homely touches. There is a lovely family-friendly room with comfy double bed (orthopaedic mattress) and comfy bed sofa which can be used for a child or for an adult. However, the room works equally well as a romantic space. There is another really lovely double (master bedroom) with sizeable marble en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. There are two other pretty rooms with queen-size single beds. All rooms are ensuite. I think my listing is unique because of the wealth of horse riding and walking opportunities in the locality of Ashford. Apart from wonderful Glendalough a few minutes away by car, there's also the stunning Brittas Bay beach only half an hour away by car. Ashford itself is a charming and friendly village which boasts the famous Mount Usher Gardens, inspired by the great English Romantic gardens of 100 years ago. Special features of my space are the fact that I can do lovely afternoon teas in the drawing room as I am an artisan baker. I can also give baking classes for those who are especially keen to learn to bake. The maximum my space fits would be 7 people (3 in the family double room) 1 adult per two single rooms with queensize bed and 2 adults in the master bedroom. I also have two handy travel cots for babies.
There is such a wealth of beauty and amazing scenery for the nature lover, it's hard to know where to begin! The absolutely stunning views from the famous Glendalough walks...the lovely little Wicklow villages...the vale of Avoca, the views from the top of Wicklow town which are like Antibes with magnificent coastal views and basking seals. Wonderful Brittas Bay beach is the perfect place for a romantic walk with your loved one or a playful day with children. And there are great horse riding opportunities in Glendalough, in Bel Air Hotel in Ashford and in Boswell Equestrian Centre, (just around the corner from me). Wicklow is also a very popular place for cyclists and there are many beautiful and scenic routes. It is possible to hire bikes locally. Also, there is fine dining in The Wicklow Heather, Laragh, Byrne & Woods Roundwood, The Lighthouse restaurant Wicklow and the famous Bates of Rathdrum. And for the traditional diner, there is always fabulous Hunters Hotel near Ashford for the perfect Sunday lunch or romantic dinner for two. In addition, there is the charming and friendly Chester Beatty pub in Ashford with a lovely menu, and there is Avoca Garden Cafe in Mount Usher Courtyard in Ashford.
  • Eleanor has set a new bar for guest houses. Absolutely loves everything about staying with her. House was beautiful, she was so welcoming and can this lady cook !

    Cecily2016-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Eleanor and her beautiful dachshunds came at the end of our trip to Ireland, but it was among the best experiences we had. Our party consisted of two couples, one from Paris and one from California, and we were greeted by Eleanor as if we were family. The location of her B&B is a short distance from Ashford center, in a truly picturesque setting. The house and grounds are beautiful, well maintained and tidy by anyone's standards. Eleanor is a superb hostess, charming, witty and enormously generous. We were treated to champagne and appetizers while enjoying the view of the Wicklow hills from her outdoor patio upon arrival. Eleanor not only had suggestions for where we could dine in the evening, but she contacted the bistros herself and made reservations for us! Each morning we sat down to a splendid Irish breakfast prepared in her modern yet homey kitchen. The breakfasts were not only substantial but so tasty that they received the enthusiastic praise of Americans and Parisians alike! The rooms were spotless, thoughtfully appointed and thoroughly comfortable. Eleanor anticipates the needs of her guests with baskets filled with items you may not find in most hotels; in addition to shampoos and bath gels she supplies antacid mints and toothpaste. Clearly, her goal is to ensure the comfort of her guests. We arrived at Eleanor's after two weeks of travel and looking forward to going home. After our two day visit, we wished we could have stayed with Eleanor longer! I must confess that my wife and I are dachshund owners and were delighted to have these wonderful dogs nearby. However, they are well-mannered and not intrusive; Eleanor makes every effort to ensure they do not bother guests. The Wicklow area is a short drive from busy Dublin (about 45 min) but offers a refreshing, rural retreat. We found Ashford to be a very pleasant village and well located for visits to Glendalough, Powerscourt and even to Newgrange, about 1 hour away. We found excellent food in pubs in Ashford and nearby Roundwood. The area is 'horse country' with many equestrian stables in close proximity to the B&B. Our hostess provided several interesting suggestions for sights to visit in and around Wicklow which are not found in most travel guidebooks. Overall we enthusiastically recommend Eleanor's "charming hideaway" for its location, presentation and tidiness as well as for its' truly brilliant hostess.

  • Eleanor is a charming host and made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Her home is beautiful. Her suggestions for places to dine were superb. Her breakfasts unforgettable. The little doggies are friendly and just add to the atmosphere. We learned so much about the area and people in Ashford. I highly recommend staying here.

  • Simply wonderful! Enjoyed it so very much

  • Was a great time, the house is beautiful, everything was really nice. we recommend it.

    Lilian2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience in was wonderful, Eleanor is an absolutely perfect host. She took such good care of us, and really went out of her way to make our stay as lovely as possible. With her amazing cooking and her beautiful home, we really couldn't ask for more! We can't wait to come back.

    Alison2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • It is beyond me why this woman isn't running her own restaurant or boutique hotel, but i guess if she were then you probably wouldn't get the full experience of what Eleanor has to offer. And it is her personal touch and eye for detail that made our visit so special. She will make you feel like a VIP from the second she greets you. Her home is sublime, to use the words "show house" does not do it justice , everything in her home is perfectly selected to add to the glamorous and gorgeous ambiance Eleanor has created. We were so fortunate to have the best weather on our stay, and given the garden in Eleanor's was so inviting we decided to utilise the setting and settle in for the afternoon. Eleanor had a bottle of chilled cava for us and arrived out with a "super salad", no doubt to balance out the bubbles!!! We were able to use her bbq that evening, and with Eleanor and her gorgeous dogs, Rolly and Minnie, we were in the finest of company. Eleanor is the ultimate host, she thrives on it and Boswell Mews is luxury.

    Melanie2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Eleanor made us feel at home from the very first second. She's a host full of energy with a great, positive attitude. She is a great cooker, talker and has 2 lovely dogs. Make sure you love dogs, great hospitality and you're open to talk a lot with her. Also ask her for advices on the surroundings. If you stick to these points, you'll experience simply a perfect, unforgettable stay.

    Ashford, County Wicklow, Ireland

Beautiful, restful and comfortable home in the heart of County Wicklow, the 'Garden of Ireland'. Roundwood is at the centre of many of the most famous and stunning walking routes in the country such as: The Wicklow Way, Lough Dan, Djouce, Glendalough and Enniskerry. Our house is a short walk from some of the best restaurants in Wicklow and down the road from the spectacular Sally Gap. We like to think of Tús Nua as a tasteful and welcoming home to enthusiastic visitors from all places.
Tús Nua is a five bedroomed country house recently renovated. It has beautiful wood floors and doors and is decorated tastefully throughout. It has very interesting art from all parts of the world. With central heating throughout and a bath and showers that are amazing for size and water pressure, this house is very comfortable and even has its own delicious and pure well water.
Roundwood is a beautiful part of Wicklow and the highest Town in Ireland. The views, even from our kitchen window, are quite spectacular!
  • Staying with Rory & Cecily in Tus Nua has been such a pleasure. The house stands on a beautiful place with an amazing view over the valley and the Vartry Reservoir. It has a big yard and enough space for parking the car. Accommodation is superb. It is clean and designed with likable taste, well equipped with WiFi, drinkable water from their own well, freshly made breakfast (Cecily bakes amazing cakes) and if you ask - the hosts will prepare delicious dinner too. The hosts are amazing. They treat you as the member of the family. Moreover, if you are an animal lover there is an extra treat for you. They have two nice and lovely dogs – Pedro and Bellona. Pedro is thrilled if you play throw and catch the ball with him. Bellona is a puppy and like all the puppies, she loves to be cuddled. For us staying with Rory and Cecily has been real treat. It is definitely a HUGE YES!!!

  • Can't believe we were only there for one night!! Felt like we had been there for days............. such a lovely place tucked up in the Wicklow Mountains. We were made so welcome and felt at home straightaway. The bedroom was nice and the bed linen, pillows and quilt were of very good quality and aided a good nights sleep. No ensuite but a shared bathroom with the most humongous bath - wouldn't have dreamt of filling it as it would drain the tank......... nice big shower. Lots of banter between my husband and Rory, all good fun. Had a lovely breakfast with homemade scones, fresh bread, cheeses, fruit and cereal. Lovely family with a beautiful baby girl and two adorable dogs. Thanks guys, loved our stay

    Mary2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Rory and his family were absolutely phenomenal hosts. My wife and I felt so welcomed. They were amazing conversationalists and a blast to be around. The tub in the bathroom is so giant and so relaxing after a long day of exploring, with a very comfy and warm bed to sleep in at night. Their home was so clean as well. This was one of the best Airbnbs we have stayed at, and we would definitely stay again if we come back to Ireland in the future!! Stay here; we highly recommend it!

    Joseph2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great view in the Wicklow mountains. Family friendly and Rory was a great host!!

    William 2017-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Rory & Cecily are the warmest, most engaging hosts. They’ll help out with your plans by making suggestions and you get the pleasure of their company. The entire household Rory, Cecily, Isabel, Pedro & Bellona await your arrival, it should not be missed.

    Denise2017-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay here! Rory and Cecily were really warm and welcoming and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable (even lighting a fire for me whilst I watched tv in the evening). The bed was very comfortable with feather pillows/quilt and the bathroom was large and luxurious. Rory laid out a great breakfast with lots of food options and delicious homemade bread and cakes. Thanks!

    Alice2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rory was a great host. His place is gorgeous and together with his lovely wife and cute little dogs, our visit was just stunning. There is no doubt we will choose the same place next time we are in the area. It might be worth to stay longer than 1 night only.

    Patrik2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The beauty of this home, its tranquil setting, and Rory’s welcoming hospitality made Tus Nua our favorite accommodation on this trip! On Rory’s recommendation we took a hike just 5 minutes down the road and were stunned by the Wicklow Mountains. We will certainly be recommending this home and hope we can come back as well!

The hosts really went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay, providing coffee/tea facilities and a few extra treats. Elaine (Brendans Wife) greeted us and checked us in, she is an extremely warm person who made you feel instantly welcome and at home (She even gave us a lift to where we were headed). It was very clean, tidy and had everything we needed and more ! Ann is an outstanding host! She was more than helpful and let us get on with our stay. • Amazing hospitality from Ann !! Amazing place , nice view , peaceful, can’t wait to come back!! Tnx Ann again ❤️

    Anittaya2017-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • There are a lot of great things about this place but the one thing that sticks out for me was the ease at which I was able to use it. Within a few minutes I felt like I was living there. Nice bedroom, nice shower-room, nice kitchen & living room, and my car parked two feet outside the front door. It's more convenient and better laid out than my own home.

    Walter2017-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Ann was a superb host and her place is in the perfect location to explore the beautiful Irish countryside. She makes you feel at home with little touches like providing eggs, bread and milk for the stay. If you have any questions, she's quick to respond and sorts things out if needed. You can tell she really cares about making her guests feel comfortable and happy whilst giving them the space they need to kick back. We'll definitely recommend this place to others.

    Jaspreet2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great home base to explore Glendalough. Ann was a lovely host who went above and beyond--she brought us a space heater on a cool evening to make sure our baby would be warm enough and when my husband's phone got a little moisture in it she brought some supplies to help fix it. Also, the place was exceptionally clean and had a beautiful view. We loved our stay there!

    Lisette2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in Ann's apartment. It is very spacious, well equipped, in a quiet area outside Roundwood. The dogs are happy to see you and are not a bother. The view is beautyful if you stretch and look over the fence. A walking and cycling area is right across the road.

  • This place is absolutely perfect. I cannot praise it enough. It is just as beautiful when you arrive as the photos show. The surrounding countryside is stunning. Not too far from Dublin and also a short drive to the beach. We didn't have time to do any biking but we did go walking. Lots to see! We were made to feel really welcome and the place is so relaxed. We ordered dinner for the second evening - so delicious. The breakfasts, too, are plentiful. The hosts were great. Huge thanks from all of us

    Jian Seng2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • I was in Lus Mor only for one night, which I bitterly regret, as it has definitely been the most divine place I have seen in Ireland. The hosts are both genuinely friendly, very helpful and nice. The home-cooked meal was delicious (!!!!!!!!), not to forget the breakfast that is included in the price anyway (the best breakfast I ever had with home-baked bred and blueberries and a range of a dozen teas), and the place altogether is more than wort the price you pay. All's neat, and the interior is lovely. The dogs and horses are also very very cute! It was not hard to reach the place at all, although I don't have a drivers license, and I even got a ride up the hill to the house, as it was starting to rain. I have only positive things to say about the place and will definitely go there again next time I travel to Ireland!

    Mina2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Aoife and James were so welcoming and very helpful. We were hiking the Wicklow Way and they called us to make sure we were not lost and we didn't need to be picked up before we reached their place. The house is absolutely lovely and decorated with taste, with very comfortable beds. There is a nice living room to rest and drink some hot tea (from a very wide range). I also recommend the food since both dinner and breakfast were absolutely amazing! 5/5 I would definitly come back if I have the chance! Thank you Aoife and James!

    Mathilde2016-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous home! Fabulous views! Fabulous hospitality! James welcomed us with music and home made banana bread for breakfast for our first morning, and a cozy fire, conversation and guitar playing in the evening.

    Marilyn2016-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We've had a really nice stay. The B&B was beautiful, clean and spacious and James was the perfect host. He showed us the hikes, helped us with the transportation to his home and made us a very good breakfast. His dog Bob is really cute and well educated. We would definitely recommend this B&B to everyone we know!

  • Aoife and James made this stay unforgettable for us! It was a pleasure to be hosted in their house. Everything was organic even for their guests. Many thanks for the big breakfast which helped us through our walk on the Wicklow Way! I hope many more people will make it to your lovely home!

We felt so at home - James even had some leftover soup from one of his batches so that we had something to eat when we arrived (a little late and after some of the nearby restaurants closed). The scenery is beautiful in my area and there is a lovely view from my garden. You are ten minutes from Glendalough, Laragh and Roundwood and there are good restaurants in each place.
  • Marie's place is a paradise and if you are going for hikes around Glendalough this is an absolute good choice. We had a wonderfull room, great breakfast en most of all the most wonderfull host! Recommendations for the area: -Spinck hike in Glendalough (absolutely worth the walk!) -Dinner at the Wicklow Heather in Laragh (great food and service!) - Sally Gap viewpoints -Cliffwalk in Bray to Greystones (you can park for free at the start of this walk in Bray, and return with the train).

  • Received a very warm welcome from Marie. Beautiful gardens, and home. Very peaceful setting.

  • We stayed at Marie's place only for one night. When we arrived we were welcomed by her son, Paul, who was extremely kind and spent some time chatting with us. The place is very comfortable and easy to find. The instructions were precise and useful. Marie made us feel at home. We had a very lovely stay.

  • Marie is a wonderful kind warm host, the house is located in a picturesque setting and her garden is magical. The house was spotless, warm, cosy and there wasn't one thing out of place. Thank you for the beautiful homemade brown bread and your lovely hospitality.

  • Marie and her son have been very welcomed. After a rainy day in the national park they welcomed us with a hot tea and biscuits. The room was nice and cozy. I will come back!

  • A beautiful house in a beautiful place. Marie and her son are lovely and the room is clean and cosy. The bed is so comfortable that is very hard to get up in the morning. But a good reason is the delicious breakfast made by Marie. Everything was just perfect. Looking forward to come back.

  • The second stay at Helena's was as good as the first one! Love her place and the many hiking spots around! We had a really good time :)

  • Helena's apartment is lovely! We really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. The apartment is embedded in a stunning landscape! If you need time to recover from the crowded city or just want to relax, I can really recommend this apartment! Helena was really friendly! We had some nice little chats. She tries to make your stay as comfortable as possible. :) Helena's place is perfect if you want to go hiking. :) But consider that a car is necessary to reach these spots.

  • Very nice place, adequate heating, clean and comfortable. My friend and I came back late, the landlord came out and took us. Thank you for your hospitality, Happy Christmas

  • Helena was incredibly helpful on arrival. Even though we got lost driving through the region at night, she explained really clearly how to find the house and her husband even waited for us to make sure we wouldn't drive past. The house is very clean, with lots of room and even a fireplace. 100% would recommend to anyone looking at booking, especially if you're interested to see the Wicklow Mountains area.

Very private, quiet property in great neighbourhood.
Very warm, friendly people. Lovely country walks. Peaceful.
  • Fantastic place nestled in the foothills of Glendalough charming and comfortable two bedroom apartment with plenty of space for four people. Although due to Wilna being away at the time of my reservation she organised with her husband Ciaran to take care of everything. Everything ran smoothly , the place was very clean and even prepped with tea, coffee and a nice bowl of fruit on the dining table. Upon arrival Cairan greeted us showed us around and put the heating on a timer for us. He was curious of our plans and offered some expert local knowledge about the area including the best parking at Glendalough and a nice place to go for drinks. We were left to our own devices and saw as much as we could, we only stayed two nights unfortunately. We spent our second day in Dublin which was less than an hours drive.. Roundwood is small but has everything you need pubs restaurants and a Centra and a few other shops. All the roads in the area are small and winding and all start to look the same to the untrained eye so I would definitely recommend a gps and ask for the co-ordinates before hand , we found it easily enough without but I think it might have been luck. Great Place ,Wilna is professional and quick to respond . Will be back :D

    Graeme2015-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Eithne made us feel very welcome and so did her husband Ciaran. They popped over several times during our stay to see if we needed anything or needed advice on where to go. The place is very comfortable and well set up. The beds are comfy and the lounge/kitchen is downstairs and roomy and warm.

    Sally2015-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wilna and her family made us feel so welcome during our 2 day stay at their beautiful house. The house was immaculately clean and cosy. Location was superb and so close to all the fabulous scenic spots of wiclow - 20 minutes from bray, 10 mins from glendalough and 5 mins to roundwood. We had 2 kids with us and they were delighted to play on trampoline, slide and play house. Wilnas kids were more than welcoming to my girls. Definately will be returning to stay in wilnas house.

    stephen2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • It was a wonderful stay at Wilna's house. The house was very new and perfectly equipped, the bets, the kitchen, the bathroom everything was top quality. Much more important wilna is a wonderful host who served us with a lot of tips what and how to do. She is such a lovely guy! I recommend everybody to go to her place.

    Patrik2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Wilna's place near Roundwood. It is in a great quiet area but close enough to Wicklow, Bray, Greystones and Glendalough that we could head out for day trips. Wilna was very welcoming, and had lots of brochures for things to do in the area. We would love to come back and stay here again!

    Bernd2017-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Let me start by saying that we regretted very much that we stayed for only two days in Wilna's flat. Next time, we'd love to stay longer in this really nice and comfortable flat with its beautiful wooden floors. There's a lot to be explored in the Wicklow Mountains and this flat is in a perfect spot to do so. In our short time there, we only had time to visit Glendalough for a short hike, and the Avoca Handweavers Mill - both are definitely worth a trip. Roundwood is a small, quiet village, so there are only 5 pubs (that we saw, anyway, maybe there were hidden ones) to choose from, and we highly recommend that you treat yourself to scones and tea/coffee or some other delicacy in the café "Sugar Mountain" right by the post office.

    Robert2016-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Nice welcome and very clean flat, prepared with fresh flowers and a cup of fruits! Glendalaugh national park is only 10min by car.

  • Wilna's place is beautiful, clean and it has everything we needed. It is a great setting, close to the Wicklow mountains. Wilna is friendly and very helpful, with lots of suggestions of places to see and how to get there. We had a great time hiking near Glendalough and Devil's Glen.

Wonderful views, comfortable beds Breakfast cooked to order. Very good selection, Packed lunches and dinner available on request. Nice areas to sit and relax or converse with other guests Owner very friendly and informative on area. Great Wi-Fi connection appreciated by the teenagers. Background music playlist perfect and the little dog Bob is a sweet cute hound

  • Lus Mor is brilliantly situated for exploring this most beautiful area of Ireland. The accomodation is cheerful, cosy, comfortable, clean and well planned! Aoife and James are most wonderful hosts providing great information of the area and made us feel so welcome! I would recommend Los Mur anyday and we will most definitely be back! Thank you!

  • Supercool house in the beautiful Wicklow mountains! Aoife and James were lovely. We enjoyed meeting other guests and hanging out in common room. Great breakfast and guitars!

    Jen2016-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay on Lus Mor house, although we only stayed 1 night we enjoyed the house and most important Aoife and James hospitality. The location is ideal for hikers only 10 min away from Wicklow way between the mountains and Roundwood village. The quietness of the place make it perfect for a relax experience. The house atmosphere is also relaxing , modern decor and colourful. We arrived late after a long walk and Aoife treated us with hot soup , snacks and wine among other indulgences. Breakfast was amazing, smoothies, orange juice, pancakes, full Irish etc everything home made with a touch of real cooking. Bed was comfortable, the room was warm, bright and perfect size. Home made cookies, fruits and natural flavoured water were waiting for us in the room. Aoife was an amazing host she was checking if we needed anything all the time. We would highly recommend Lus Mor...muchas gracias.

  • To stay in James' house is absolutely recommendable! Clean, nice rooms and facilities, delicious food (thanks Sasha!), stunning area to go for walks and the best host I could imagine! James was always eager to help with his huge knowledge about the area. Both James and Sasha, spread a good atmosphere in the house so I felt totally comfortable. It was absolutely fantastic, my stay couldn't have been better! Many thanks for everything!

Situated 2.5km from Roundwood village and 10 mins from the Monastic Settlement of Glendalough, our home is in a peaceful, secluded spot in the foothills of Wicklow Mountains. With easy access to the Wicklow Way it is a walkers paradise!
We have 1 en-suite bedroom which has a double and a single bed. The room can be used as a family room to facilitate a couple and two children as we can provide an additional guest bed. An additional fee of Euro 12 per child over 10 years old per night applies.
The neighbourhood is in quiet sheep-farming countryside. Roundwood Village has a selection of pubs/restaurants and a mini supermarket. We are about 30 mins drive to the seaside (Bray/Greystones beaches) and 1 hr from Dublin.
  • Ann Marie made us very welcome. She was extremely generous about providing us with anything we needed. She provided us with guidebooks of the area and gave us very good advice about places to visit, eat etc. She was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the area. Nothing was too much trouble. She made clear that we were to feel free to use the kitchen to make tea, coffee etc. She also provided us with a hairdryer to use while we were there. I needed to print off boarding passes for the return journey; she did this for us unhesitatingly. The setting is idyllic. Although only 5 mins from Roundwood, you could be a million miles away. It is a wonderfully peaceful place.

  • We staied for 2 days with our two children. Every thing was simply perfect. The most impresive for me was the emplacement of the house, in the middle of the country, you feel that you live alone there, in a very quiet place, but very next to Glendalogh, and many walk trails. I love the acces to the house crossing a contry line with a green tunnel of trees; please Anne Marie, put a photo of this. The wild garden is incredible, like taken out of a fairy tale. The room and beds very confortable and clean. The breakfast excellent, by the side of a long window to the garden. And the best of our stay: Anne Marie, her hospitality and respect. Thank you. Jorge.

  • Staying with Anne-Marie was an incredible treat. She is so kind and welcoming - easy to talk to, quick to help with ideas and plans. She sent us on an amazing hike and told us lovely places to eat and wander. The bedroom is clean and comfy, and the breakfast room is marvelous - it has a beautiful bay window. The airbnb would have been hard to find, but Anne-Marie met us in town and guided us there. The location is superb if you're after visiting Glendalough and Wicklow National Park. We will DEFINITEY try and stay with Anne-Marie and Damien again if we're even back in Wicklow!

    Amy2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home in the woods. At any moment a deer and her fawn might appear at the bottom of the garden. Homemade salad dressing, hand drawn local maps a little life advice. What was not to like?

  • Anne-Marie made us feel very welcome, she had gone to great lengths to make sure that the kids had a good time too. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We also enjoyed our evening tea and chat, keep up the good work ☺

    Katja2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Anne-Marie went out of her way to meet us in the local village to guide us to her home to insure we would not get lost. She served generous breakfasts each morning with a good variety. She also accommodated our schedule changes each day and provided us hand written directions to local attractions. Anne-Marie also went above and beyond by providing me with a soothing lemon/honey drink to help with my coughing/sore throat! In addition to our enjoying conversations with her, she offered local history to help us better appreciate Irish culture. I could continue on and on about Anne-Marie...this was simply an exquisite stay❤️. If we ever get to visit Ireland again we would want to stay here!

We are a stones throw from the monastic city of Glendalough and ideally located close to the Wicklow Way and only 45 minutes from Dublin.
  • We had a very comfortable, happy stay for 2 nights, all 8 of us walkers. It was a warm, perfectly clean, newly and very well furnished, comfortable house with plenty of space with all you could need to cook meals in the kitchen. Beautiful furniture that had real character. We were even supplied with a dozen or so organic eggs! Only 10 mins drive from Glendalough, it was the perfect location for our hike along St Kevin's Way. Many thanks to our hosts.

  • Stephen and his family are excellent hosts. They provided a lot of advice about things to do (walks, pubs and sights) in the surroundings. The house is situated in a lovely, tranquil and green landscape. Steven has 3 ponies, a horse and chickens which the children loved. At one one point we saw 9 (!) fallow deer grazing in the garden. The house has excellent kitchen utensils and was very well looked after in general. We would definitely return to this house.

    Jelte2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic short break at Stephen’s place - the house really feels like a home away from home and has been lovingly and stylishly renovated by Stephen himself. We had three kids with us so the ponies out the back fields were very exciting and we really appreciated the delicious fresh organic eggs! The location is perfect for exploring Wicklow, just a short drive from Glendalough and lovely pubs and restaurants in Laragh and Roundwood too. Stephen was a wonderful host and helped us with our every request - highly recommend!

The property is a studio house adjacent to our family house with self contained accommodation. Our studio house is cosy and would suit a couple or small family who like to hike, hillwalk and, cycle or just relax in our rather wild garden.
The house offers a comfortable living and kitchen area, bathroom with shower and loft bedroom with double bed. It has it's own private patio at back. The apartment is beside our own home and is set in a large garden with privacy for relaxing. It is located in one of the well known beauty spots of Ireland with mountains and stunning landscapes all around.
Our home is in the Wicklow Mountains with a large garden and lots of privacy although only a kilometre or so from the local village of Roundwood which has 5 pubs, restaurants, grocery and convenience shops, a barber a butcher and a Church. The house is surrounded by forests, mountains, lakes and reservoirs and Roundwood is one of the villages on the Wicklow Way walking route. The important historical site of Glendalough is only a short 20 minute drive from our house. Roundwood also has the advantage of being only 15 minutes drive from the N11 motorway which takes you to coastal towns along the east coast such as Greystones, Bray and Dun Loaghaire within about half an hour. Dublin city itself is approx 45 - 50 minutes drive from the house.
  • Our stay here was amazing! Sheila and Paul went above and beyond. Sheila readily supplied some topical cream when we arrived after a run in with some nettles, and Paul gave us great local walking tips and invited us to pick vegetables and herbs from their home garden. The cottage was clean, well stocked with the essentials, and overall very welcoming and cozy.

  • An absolute gem of a place. My husband and I are into hillwalking and this was a fab location to base ourselves for exploring the surrounding areas and enjoy so many beautiful scenic walks. Paul and Sheila were wonderful hosts, so friendly and helpful with many suggestions of where we should go and things to do in the area. The apartment was cosy and comfortable, a real home from home. We were blessed with beautiful weather during our stay and enjoyed sitting out and relaxing in their lovely garden. We even got to sample some of the delights which Paul and Sheila grew. (Thanks for the rhubarb Paul, it was delish). I would highly recommend a stay here, I know we will definitely be back, sooner (hopefully) rather than later.

  • This was probably the best airbnb I have ever stayed in. It was really cute, clean, lovely and quiet and we had everything we needed plus a beautiful garden to relax in after a long day hiking and exploring Wicklow, and it's but 2 minutes drive into roundwood. As a hiker I couldn't recommend this place more, you're only 10 minutes form laugh dan, laugh tay and djouce and 30 minutes from the spinc in glendalough and for a quick hike the sugar loaf is again a half hour away. For a rest day you could walk around the reservoir near the house or spend the day in power court gardens again super close. I couldn't recommend this place more and Shelia & Paul were very accommodating.

    Catriona2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely relaxing stay at Sheila and Paul's place, great music collection and a welcome pack of essentials, would stay in this place again with so many places of scenic beauty close by.

  • We stayed for the weekend and the location is ideal for plenty of walking. Everything was as described and communication was good in the build up to our stay. Okanagan Lodge is just a tiny piece of heaven. As you drive through Annamoe on the main Glendalough road you turn off onto a very quiet lane. Our home is situated at the top of a fern lined boreen off this lane. It is quiet and secluded. The perfect retreat.
We built our home 6 years ago on 11 acres of beautiful secluded woodland. Our home is a haven away from the hectic daily routine. It is a calm, relaxing spot to take time out. The room is a large, bright, airy space overlooking the garden and surrounded by trees. It has low windows with views of the surrounding woodland. It is for this reason we have not dressed the windows with curtains or blinds. You can enjoy the natural light and view but it is still very private. There is a bathroom adjacent to your room with a stand alone roll top bath and shower for your own private use.
Annamoe is a superb base for those who are out and about all day visiting the local sights or for those who prefer a little more action on the Wicklow Hills. Our home is a 50 min drive from Dublin city centre. We are a 5 min drive from the beautiful monastic settlement of Glendalough/3 km walk. Avondale House and Forest Park, Glenmalure, and the picturesque village of Enniskerry are all not too far away. There are mountain biking trails with bikes to rent, The Wicklow Way for hiking which is only a 5 minute walk from the house, horse riding and golf all in the locality. There are many beautiful walks for those who like to do things at their own pace.
  • We had a wonderful stay with Libby and her family. They are lovely people, took the time to get to know us and received us with delicious tea and cookies. They also recommended nice hikes in the Wicklow Mountains nearby. The house is absolutely fantastic, located in the middle of the woods, beautifully designed and furnished and with a big and bright room for guests. Libby's place is a small paradise in the Wicklow Mountains, absolutely recommendable!

  • We felt very welcome. At arrival Libby instantly offered us tea and showed us our room. The room is absolutely beautiful and you feel like your in the middle of the forest. Libby and her husband gave us great ideas about where to hike to the next morning (we were doing the Wicklow Way, but had time for an extra "loop" left. It was very pleasant chatting to them and we had a great evening. After that we enjoyed a refreshing shower and bath in the suberb bathroom. Breakfast was left for us in the kitchen as Libby had to leave early: fresh fruit, cereals, tea, coffee, tasty bread and cheese. All we wished for as a start of our day!

  • Libby and Christiaan were wonderful hosts, they where very helpful and we had nice conversations. Each morning the breakfast waited for us on the kitchen table. The location couldn't be better, they literally live in the forest :) We were traveling for 10 days in Ireland, and this was our best stay by far!

    Erika2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. The house is surrounded by a wood, so you can see trees everywhere you look. Both the bedroom and bathroom were very large and very clean. Libby and her family are lovely hosts. They gave us tea and coffee upon arrival, directions to the closest restaurants and a tasty breakfast!

  • It was a real pleasure staying at Libby's place. The house and our room were very clean and just lovely. Libby and Chris were very welcoming hosts and had great recommendations for dinner. Chatting together in the evening with a cup of tea was very pleasing. We can definitely recommend staying here!

  • Libby's place is exactly as described; a secluded woodland hideaway. It's a beautiful place which is decorated with a lot of thought and Libby and her husband Christian are happy to share this place with you. Both nights we sat down with the family and had a glass of wine with them while gaining more insight into Ireland and irish life. The room itself is gigantic and furnished very nicely with a great bed and a view of the forest. The private bathroom was very nice as well with its own shower, bath and toilet. We were very happy to be able to end our great trip through Ireland here and leave it with warm memories.

    Kelly2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay in Annamoe at Libby and Christian's place. We felt very welcome at their lovely home in the woods. We enjoyed a spacious, quiet bedroom and a private bathroom with all facilities you wish for. The entire family was very warm, open and helpful. Libby made us amazing breakfast and Christian gave us the best local advice on good hikes and tasty restaurants. The location of their home is perfect for hikes in several national parks, including the Wicklow mountains. From their backyard, you can even walk to the Wicklow Way. Our stay with Libby and Christian made our weekend in Ireland very special. Not just an ordinary vacation! We would definitely come back and advise others to stay with them!

  • What a wonderful place to stay!! We are so glad that we chose Graham’s place. It was an oasis in the hills with all the beauty of the Wicklow Mountains. What made our stay even better was the fantastic hospitality!! We truly enjoyed a great chat in a warm and welcoming home. The house is just beautiful and the room & bath were so spacious, clean, & comfy!! The breakfast was a delight as well. We can’t forget to mention the bonus of being greeted by the sweetest pup, their lab Star! I could have taken her home with me we would definitely stay again. Many thanks & blessings to our wonderful hosts!!

  • Staying at Graham's house was nothing less than perfect. He provided us with a warm room, Coffee outside in the beautiful back patio, great conversation and breakfast the next morning. There is a very cute town about ten minutes away called roundwood village where there are many pubs and restaurants. Our stay here made us feel very much at home. We also made a new friend, Graham's dog, named Star, who is incredibl friendly. I highly recommend this air B and B!!! Thanks again Graham!

  • Graham was a gracious host and provided sound recommendations for local restaurants and a splendid hike in the area. Definitely recommend his house if you're looking to hike in the Wicklow mountains which are worth a visit. He cooked a delicious breakfast for us and ensured we had everything we needed in order to feel comfortable.

Thanks to him, we have no difficulty to find his nice accommodation, which was really clean, comfortable, spacious, and well-designed ! The breakfasts were really good, and Graham made sure that we lacked nothing. Graham is really open and receptive, so that we could have a lot of discussions with him and his wife ! I really recommend to stay here if you want to discover the areas of Glendalough ! Thanks to you for this short but great stay

  • Review on behalf of my mother and father in law. Graham and his wife were extremely friendly and helpful, always offering tea and biscuits. Beautiful very clean home, the garden is like a big wild field, so beautiful and peaceful and even seen wild rabbits from our bedroom. They have a very friendly dog too. The home is a drive away from the nearest town so I would recommend Grahams home if your going for a walking, naturesque trip rather than a pub, restaurant trip. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

  • My partner and I spent 1 night at Ivan's house in the Wicklow Mountains and it was lovely! Ivan met us in the village where we were able to follow him to the house. He was friendly and had good advice for hiking and exploring in the area. After a week of traveling, it was nice to have our own cozy place where we could cook and have a night in. There was some food in the kitchen that Ivan offered us to use and it was much appreciated when cooking dinner. The fire in the living room was nice in the evening and there was a great dvd and board game selection. I'd definitely recommend this location for a peaceful getaway!

    Alyssa2016-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ivan's place is located in a lovely secluded part of Wicklow, on a hill above the village of Laragh. It's a bit tricky to find so Ivan met us at the Laragh village shop to bring us up to the house. We reached Laragh via the St Kevins bus from Dublin - Laragh is the stop before Glendalough. We rented bikes for the duration of our stay and were able to easily reach Glendalough via bike. We had a great time touring around the area. The home itself is very nice and has a log fire and everything you need. The bed was also very comfortable. Only thing I would say is make sure you rent a car or a bike as it is a bit remote and would take a while to walk everywhere. Ivan was a great host and went above and beyond by giving us a lift on more than one occasion; he also returned my jacket to me when I realised I had left it behind - he got it back to me in the nick of time before our bus left to return to Dublin! Overall would very much recommend.

  • This place was amazing. It's a solid old house with tons of rustic stuff in it. It's beautiful, and in a beautiful location. I want to come back. Note that the internet here is iffy, so don't depend on that.

    Mike2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is great. Really cosy with a great fireplace in the livingroom and a wood burner in the kitchen. There was plenty of fuel provided which was a big plus. It is ideally located for hiking and there was great food at The Wicklow Heather which provided a free shuttle service to and from the house. Wifi is not great and there is no mobile phone service at all but there is a landline house phone available. All in all, it is a fantastic place in an amazing location. The perfect balance between rustic and comfort. I would highly recommend.

  • This cottage is set on the edge of the Wicklow national park area just down the him from a scenic water fall. This gives you immediate access to one of the most beautiful regions of Ireland. The cottage itself is unique - something out of a J.R. Tolkien novel. Great base to explore county Wicklow.

  • In our view Clarisses Cottage is a characteristic, luxurious and well equipped place to stay with very nice beds. We were recommended to have something to eat at the Wickow Heather Restaurant (Laragh), which we did. They provide a free taxi service from and to the cottage and the food is of very good quality. We will surely recommend Clarisses Cottage to other people! Marianne and 6 friends from The Netherlands & Italy 27/28 May 2017

  • A lovely place settled in a small typically Irish neighbourhood, accessible through narrow roads. The unit offers privacy and plenty of room. The kitchen is well equipped so you can cook for yourself if you feel like it. There are some board games for chilly nights or many interesting books about Ireland. Clean, comfy, lovely helpful owners! I'd recommend this place for a one night stand as much as for longer stay.

  • Denise & Seamus are adorable, they hosted us in a lolvely place in the middle of nowhere, a pardadise at less than 1 hour from Dublin. We recommande this place without any hesitation

  • A little piece of heaven in the heart of Wicklow mountains national park. A huge thank you to Denise for letting us stay in her beautiful cottage. We arrived at the middle of the night yet she has stayed up to welcome us with her home baked lovely scones! She even tuned the heating on before we arrived so it was nice and warm despite the evening on the mountains was freezing cold. Fantastic location on the mountainside, with great views and you can just hike out from the house. We would gladly stay there again.

    Noe2017-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What can we say - we have never stayed in an airbnb, a b&b or a hotel as lovely as this special place. It is really very unique :) Denise and Seamus are the most sweet and lovely couple - so welcoming and friendly whilst also being great hosts and making your trip super special. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Denise who showed us to the little cottage! It is just so special as a little place to spend time in, let alone as a hub for exploring the beautiful Wicklow mountains! Waiting for us were scones, brownies and other cakey things (yum!) as well as a super little book of information which was very useful. Denise and Seamus themselves are so so knowledgeable about the area and so were very happy to share this with us which we are so grateful for. The little cottage is very very cosy and we had a super time playing board games we brought with us, as well as reading books. We wanted to escape the city and have a quiet new years before our baby arrives in May (eeek!). The cottage as everything you need - a fridge, hobs, pots and pans, glasses, cutlery, mugs, a kettle, microwave etc. Even eggs cups! We like to stay in when away and cook and we definitely felt we had everything we needed which was fab. It is also so clean which is lovely. You feel so happy going to sleep and waking up there - just so relaxed. Being back in Dublin now we're missing it already ;) The countryside around the house itself is just breathtaking - if you just wanted a couple of quiet nights in, not venturing out, you would still be satisfied just being here. You can hear a waterfall in the distance, the trees blowing in the wind. WOW. It is just so peaceful and breathtaking, but calming too. The countryside further afield, well, that is something else. We went to Glendalough and had the most amazing walk. Being thee only for 1 full day we took advantage of focusing on this and just being cosy at home! We would recommend this for sure but if you're there for longer there is so much more to see too. We would stay here again in a heartbeat - definitely recommend booking!!!!

    Emilie2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for 2 days only and got fully recharged in a cute cottage. We had no phone or internet coverage on site so don't expect to work in the distance as you will be out of service! Great surprise is that Denise the host has water from the well in your taps so it's a clean and tasty comes all the way from Wicklow grounds There is a beautiful local river just beside the main road. The house is About 2km drive to the actual Glendalough site... Be aware of the deers during the evening time as they are jumping on the road that could be dangerous. Overall Amazing experience!

  • Great, cosy retreat in the countryside. Clean and perfect spot to relax and enjoy the open fire. Mary was a great host and super responsive helping navigate us in on a wet night and provided a fantastic tip on a local restaurant, that led to the best fish and chips I've ever had!! We were staying ahead of a wedding at Tinakilly House and was perfect spot. Highly recommend. Neil

  • We spent Christmas Day with Mary and it’s one we will never forget. She greeted us warmly and was very responsive when we needed directions. Longbarn is lovely and has many personal touches that make it welcoming. The windows throughout make it seem like you’re sitting outside when in fact you are snuggled by a roaring fire. We hiked and visited with the horses then settled in for an evening of board games and Netflix. We are a family of five and all enjoyed it immensely.

  • This is a great holiday rental in a beautiful area of Co Wicklow. Mary is a brilliant host and could not be more helpful. We stayed for four days between Christmas and New Year to visit family in the area. There is a beautiful open fire and Mary provided a plentiful supply of logs and other homely touches. Our children especially loved the horses and the dogs. The rental is a separate part of Mary’s home with its own entrance in a rural setting. • Denise and Seamus are great hosts and were very helpful during our whole trip. They were very welcoming at our arrival and provided us with everything we could possibly need, including great tipps on Glendalough and the area. We would definitely recommend Denise and Seamus as hosts!

  • We spent a weekend at Denise and Seamus house and it was the best choice we could made to get out of the city. We were welcomed with homemade bread which was delicious, the room we stayed in was very cozy, the bed comfy and we had our own bathroom. They gave us great tips what's worth to visit and where to dine. Despite the rainy weather it was absolutely amazing and we are definitely going to visit again.

  • We are so thankful for Denise and Seamus' wonderfully warm and generous hospitality. It was the perfect place to stay during our weekend drive around Ireland, an excellent location for exploring the Wicklow Nat Park, by foot bike or car. The room was clean, warm and comfortable, we had a great night's sleep. The dinner recommendation, complete with pick up and drop off, was spot on. We appreciated and enjoyed the local stories and wisdom to make the most of our stay - a true Air BnB experience. We only wish we could have stayed longer! A definite highlight of the trip :) Thank you again Denise and Seamus!

  • My husband and I have stayed at several Airbnb rentals throughout 6 different countries. Denise and her husband Seamus are the kindest hosts we have ever had. If visiting Wicklow Mountains and/or Glendalough area, you must stay here. We only spent one night here but wish we could've stayed longer. They even arranged free transportation to a nearby delicious restaurant for dinner and a ride back. I can't describe in words how kind Denise and Seamus are - you'll just have to stay here and experience it for yourself.

  • Great location for walks lovers. They make you feel at home. Very much recommendable.

    Jorge2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Truly fantastic people, treats, dogs, views!! This place was a gem that you shouldn't miss! definitely will be coming back should we find ourselves in Ireland again! Comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. Denise and Seamus are very friendly and very welcoming!

  • We spent a wonderful, relaxing weekend here. During the day, we hiked. The house has a beautiful waterfall walk right next to it and all the Glendalough trails are less than 10 minutes by car. At night, we ate at the Wicklow Heather (great food and a free taxi service!) and then relaxed and read by the fireplace in the house. Denise is a great host who provided us with lots of tips, snacks, and laughs. The house is spotless, the bed is comfy, and the three dogs and two goats are hilarious. Highly recommended for when you want to get away :)

We are just on the Wicklow Way, 10 mins by foot from the trails. Laragh village 5 mins walk. Glendalough monastic site 30 min walk. It is right on the river, the noise of which will lull you to sleep. It's quiet, romantic, warm and cosy; a spectacular area, all at your door step. This is an independent one bedroom studio with great shower and cooking facilities. own front door, wifi and no tv and freddy the cat is around. better to come with a car as buses are infrequent
The two single beds are generous. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom has a good sized shower. Heating is electric and warm with a constant ambient temperature. No cloths washing facilities. Dogs are not encouraged unless you make a special request. There is a resident cat in main house and sheep in the area. There is no tv .There is good wifi/internet. This is a very comfortable space with bed and living area all together.
The house is walking distance to the village of Laragh and about a mile to Glendalough National park. It is very beautiful, quiet and peaceful. The village is small with a couple of restaurants - Lynhams and the WIcklow Heather - , pubs, petrol station and Centra (general food store), and Glendaloughgreen, a fun cafe deli.
  • Our staying by Clodagh has been perfect under each point of view: the location was amazing, the apartment very cozy and comfortable and she has been a perfect host. She waited for us and gave us some important advices in order to make our staying perfect. Finally if you love animals, you have to meet Freddie the cat: he is very cuddly.

  • We had a very pleasant stay at Clodagh's private studio. Beautiful surroundings, especialy the river near the house of Clodagh. She also runs a lovely deli cafe where you can drink good coffee! We did some nice hiking all in good walking distance. Clodagh gave us a warm welcome. Would absolutely remmonend the place to my friends!
