Park
“Situated to the north-west of Saint Junien, Corot is a Natural Area of Ecological Interest. The site is home to a rare plant species: the Royal Osmonde. This majestic fern can be admired from May to September. It forms large clumps whose stems can reach two meters in height. This natural site bears the name of the famous landscape painter Jean Baptiste Camille Corot (1796-1875). Originally from Paris, Jean Baptiste Camille Corot discovered Limousin thanks to friends living near Limoges. After exploring the surroundings of Limoges, he decided in 1852 to go a little further and discover the site of the valley of Glane. The painter fell under the spell of this enclosed valley. ”

“Valérie et Pascal vous servirons les meilleures pizza du coin cuites dans un four datant du 16eme siècle, ambiance poutres et pierres apparentes, une très jolie terrasse sous les arbres l'été, il faut le GPS pour les trouver, ils sont niché au bout d'une route sans issue, c'est un endroit vraiment athypique que nous adorons, allez y vous ne serez pas déçu”

Locality
“An important centre of glove production since the 15th century and the administrative centre for the local area, it is a bustling and thriving town with large superstores and an excellent public swimming pool complex, but Saint-Junien also has a beautiful old town - take a stroll through these narrow streets, browse the many little independent shops, admire the grand architecture, and enjoy a relaxing drink or lunch outside one of the cafés or bars in the sunshine. The beautiful Collegiale Church is also worth a visit - the oldest part dating back to the 11th century and in roman style, whilst inside you can view a stunning ancient fresco - as are the 2 chapels at the town cemetery and by the banks of the river at the end of the Bridge of Notre Dame. Finally, admire the 12th century narrow pedestrian bridge of Sainte-Elizabeth in gothic style which formed part of the vital trading route between Limoges and Saintes. Market day here is a Saturday morning.”

“The main restaurant is excellent. White table cloths etc. Good food and service. Upper price range. At lunchtimes during the week they have a separate bistrot which offers an excellent all-inclusive budget lunch. Le restaurant principal est excellent. Blanc table de chiffons, etc. La nourriture est bonne et le service. Upper gamme de prix. A midi pendant la semaine, ils ont un bistrot séparé qui offre un excellent déjeuner budget tout compris. 00 33 5 55 02 27 26 www.comodoliac.fr”
