  • Couldn't ask for a better host. Mel makes you feel right at home and is very accommodating. The property is so peaceful and serene. She takes a lot of pride in her plants and flowers which gives the place a great vibe. If you want a quiet, peaceful and relaxing trip in the heart of Jamaica, this place is a hidden gem!!! We will definitely be back ☺️

'Higher Heights' is a fantastic and cozy upstairs room with veranda and great sea view.
Steep stairs take you up to the veranda of 'Higher Heights', the room with a view, and it's a fantastic one! You can watch the sun sinking into the see and watch the stars at night. The room has a double bed (a single bed for a third person can be added) with mosquito net, shelves for your belongings and a small table and 2 chairs for the veranda. You have some dishes and a water heater to make your own tea or coffee. There is a shared bathroom downstairs.
In our neighborhood you can experience the real Jamaican life with all its ups and downs. It's easy to get in contact with the people around and they will love to teach you how to play dominoes or dance the Jamaican style, and they're always willing to help with anything you want.
  • We really fell in love with Lydia's cottage: The room itself which is so lovely painted and decorated, the great view from the veranda of 'higher heights', the people from Belmont who are so friendly and helpful, the small beach with its delicious street restaurants, the 'nature tour' with Brian,... We can only recommend it! If you don't have problems with maybe waking up because of some chickens in the morning and you're not afraid of an roofless bathroom, we think you'll also love it. For us this really felt like the 'real Jamaika'!

  • Lydia's place is great and she's an amazing host! Right in the heart of Belmont, walking distance to shops, restaurants, and bars. We enjoyed our time and conversations with Lydia (or Getty as she's known in Belomont)! She's lived there for a long time so she had great recommendations and tips about the area. She's a very warm person and easy to talk to. Things we loved about Belmont: King's Bar on the beach, live music on Sunday night, the jerk spot with Omar at the river, Peter Tosh Memorial, and meeting and talking to SO many friendly and lovely people in the town. Everyone is incredibly welcoming and kind. The place is upstairs in a cool cabin, and the bathroom is downstairs, so be prepared to climb up and down! Easy enough! Also worth noting that there's no bank/ATM in Belmont so make sure you get your cash in Sav La Mar or elsewhere before you come. If you get in a pinch, Luna By The Sea takes cards and will sell you a six pack of Red Stripe! They also said they occasionally do cash back, if the owner is around. Thank for everything Getty! See you soon I hope.

  • Beautiful place far from the noise. Lots of nature. 10 min walk from the main road. Lydia is so cool and helpful.

  • Very nice combination of a hidden and green place located in a real jamaican village neighbourhood. Small shops and bars are nearby. As it is uphill you have to walk a few minutes down to the calm and sandy beach. The room higher heights has a view to the sea and the surrounding trees so that you can relax on the balcony and chill out for yourself and have a impression of jamaican nature and village life. It was a nice place to stay and enter the jamaican way of life. Lydia received us nicely and gave us relevant tips for a nice stay in belmont.

  • This is an amazing spot that I can easily call perfect. I thought I would have to get acclimated to the outside bathroom facilities but it's so scenic and quiet and secluded that you find ways to extend your outside shower activities. Lydia is awesome too and I couldn't ask for a more understanding and accomodating host. If you're the least bit intrigued about staying here, take the chance! I guarantee you won't have any regrets. Just a desire to stay there longer.

Our 3 cozy rooms can fit 2 each and are located in a beautiful exotic flowers garden on a hill with sea view just 5 min. walk from the beach. Enjoy breakfast/dinner on request or do it yourself and support the shops, bars & restaurants nearby.
The 2 cabins - 'Rasta Castle' with Jungle Shack and Higher Heights & 'Bamboo Palace' - are located in a tropical fruits and flowers garden surrounded by a bamboo fence about 5 minutes walk from the seaside. You can watch the beautiful Caribbean sunsets from the verandas of 'Jungle Shack' and 'Higher Heights'... 'Jungle Shack' has a double bed with mosquito net, basic kitchen corner, and there's a shared bathroom (with roof) and shower under the blue sky. There is plenty outside space, hammocks, a fire place, several shops are nearby, restaurants with delicious local food and lots of bars and nice places to hang out. One beautiful white sand beach is 5 minutes away, another one 15 minutes. And you are only 3 minutes away from the 'Peter Tosh Memorial'! Reggae music is a must and it's easy to get in touch with the people around. I live here since more than 30 years and as my guest(s) you can be sure to be well respected and shown the real Jamaican way of life far off the beaten tourist track. You will definitely enjoy and have fun !!!
You can find everything from shops, bars, restaurants to the hills and beach nearby - and also lots of friendly and helpful people. Jamaicans have a great love for music and parties where they always welcome our guests too.
  • Beautiful place and beautiful people. Thank you very much! We traveled Jamaica all around and just in this place we felt like at home. no harassment , just friendly locals, beautiful beach, good food and Lydia with her daughter were very respectfull , mindful and loving people.

  • If you are looking for an earthy, positive place to stay while in Jamaica, THIS IS THE PLACE!! Stop your search, and book Natural Mystic Cottages! I'm a female in my 20's, and this was my first solo trip to Jamaica. Being a woman traveling alone, I was a little bit nervous staying at an air b&b in Jamaica, but this place was amazing! Getty is truly a kind and caring soul, and her cottages are very mystical. I felt at home the instant I arrived at her place. Everyone at the cottage totally clicked, and it was an awesome vibe! Natural Vibes! I I!! Some mornings we lit a fire to welcome the day and send out positive vibrations and messages for our day. The beach is a safe 5 minute walk, and that's where all of the local shops and restaurants are. We went to the Indigenous Rasta Village in Montego Bay, and listened to drumming and chanting from the Rastas, and an authentic drumming show at Treasure Beach. Getty also set me up with Belmont Basic School, so I could visit for a day to see what a Jamaican school looks like. Getty is really well connected and respected in the community, and all of the locals will watch out for you. Belmont is only 20 minutes away from Roaring River. I highly suggest you take Roaring River cave tour, and ask for the tour guide Paul or Sugar. They are really nice, honest guys, that won't rip you off. The locals are super nice, and are willing to take you into the bush (jungle), cook for you, reason with you, and make you laugh. I stayed at the Jungle Shack, and I loved it. I loved how simple and rustic it was. It's a small room, with a shower outside under the beautiful sky. I'll def be back here.

  • If you would like the real Jamaican experience then this shack is where you need to book yourself into! Beautiful nature all around with the sounds of wildlife and roosters early morning. A friendly community with a nearby beach and a local farm if you fancy studying natural herbs ! Lydia is literally footsteps away up in another shack on the hills if you need her for anything 'she is attentive to every need'. Also very welcoming and surprised me with a lovely morning breakfast (thank you) and dinner 'Ackee'. I hoped for a longer stay but had to leave so soon - I sure will visit again! Thanks,

    Kiran2016-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Yes, this is a real Jamaican experience - from the early morning roosters, the neighbor's all-day reggae music sessions to the lush vegetation on your way to get freshly cooked fish on the beachfront. We thoroughly enjoyed our Jungle Shack experience. Lydia, our hostess, was extremely pleasant and accommodating. She welcomed us wholeheartedly while allowing us to maintain our privacy. Lydia, or Gatty as we Jamaicans call her, has a good reputation in the community which manifests in the courtesy the neighborhood extends to her guests. Lydia's family - Naiyo and Liam - were also a joy to be around. We felt like we were staying with friends. So much so, we decided to stay an extra day! You will not find better value for money. The Shack was rustic yet well-designed and comfortable. We loved the outside shower!! The garden is beautiful and the beach is a 5-8 minute walk. Unfortunately, you will have to cross a big busy road to get to the beach. However, this might be the very reason the narrow strip of Belmont beachfront has not been captured by the large hoteliers. Indeed, we enjoyed the small village feel and enjoyed our daily walks. By the way, you must eat at Leroy's!!! This was our first experience in Belmont but not our last. We highly recommend Lydia's Natural Mystic Cottages. Till next time, walk good.

  • Really reealllllly great spot!!!!!! Super safe and gorgeous place . Highly recommend Thanks so much Lydia :)

    Rosie2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really rustic, not indicated in maps or GPS or near the road, and you don't have to be affraid of lezard, cochrach or moskitos. But in the other hand, this is the REAL JAMAICA EXPERIENCE! Lydia is a really noce lady, very helpful and giving nice advice. She organised for us some activities with the locals and we had amazing experience discovering jamaica from this side. Thanks for this experice we are not ready to forget! :-)

    Elodie2016-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the vibes of belmond, the beach is amazing, great food places right there and the people friendly. Nice off the beaten path atmosphere. Lydias place is creative and comfortable. I will be back again. Thank you Lydia for everything! Memorable days spent!

  • This property is amazing!!! We love the ambiance, looking around it's as if your in the middle of the amazon but yet your only a short walk away from the main road and the beach. Lydia ( commonly known as Getty around these parts) is a beautiful spirit. She has a really warm, calm, kind demeanor and is extremely accommodating.

Our newest addition to Goodhope retreat. Although smaller than our main cabin, it has a wonderful layout with a big front veranda and a bathroom attached with outside shower. All hardwood to construction from local sources. The bed is the same queen size that is in our main cabin.
  • My wife an I spent 5 wonderful days at Sean's cabin and really had a fantastic time. The cabin is on a beautiful mountain with a stunning view. We felt like we were part of the family and enjoyed talking to Sean, his wife and children, and even their dogs! Sean could not have been a better host and he was responsive to every request. Make sure you get the meal plan to enjoy home cooked Jamaican food prepared by Geneva. Ron was great as a driver and tour guide too. We saw life in Jamaica in a way many never do thanks to him. Take a trip to the nearby attractons--waterfall, caves, Black River, Bluefields beac Park and even Peter Tosh's home.

    Larry2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the most amazing places to stay in Jamaica. Sean and his wife were so pleasant and friendly .. She is such an amazing cook .. this is the place for real lovers and lovers of life and everything real and natural .. just AMAZING WE WILL BE GOING BACK .. soon

    hemsley2016-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was simply the best vacarion me and my friend have been on our whole life (20 years but stilll) Sean and Geneva are incredible hosts and their kids are the sweetest. We will definetly come back❤️

    Ronni2017-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Good Hope for 6 nights and it was truly an amazing experience. Sean was easy to get a hold of and made everything simple. His driver picked us up at the airport and stopped at the store to let us grab some snacks. My tip is to do this...there is not much around the cabin, also DO THE MEAL PLAN. The food was amazing!!! I miss the coffee and fresh mango already. It was so nice to have authentic food everyday. Ron was the best, we pretty much let him decide where we should go and we had a blast with him. The community was so nice to us and we felt very safe. It is a good 30 minute drive down the mountain to get the water. We were in a car a lot but it always made it worth it once we reached the cabin and had the most amazing view. You have to come a realization this is a cabin, there are bugs and the trails are a little tricky. But I have never had such a relaxing (URL HIDDEN) was nice to turn the phone off just unwind.

    Shelby2017-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay at Sean's place! The good we got way excellent - thanks to Sean's wife! The place is very peaceful and a perfect place to relax! Around the cabin you just find nature, nature and nature :-)! Thanks for everything Sean & all the best!

    Carina2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, lovely place, and wonderful hosts! I would definitely stay here again. Sean and his wife were very accomodating to my dietary restrictions so I was able to enjoy a delicious meal there!

    Carly2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • As other note, the view is outstanding and the cabin itself is wonderfully built. Saw parrots, hummingbirds etc. all from our room. Sean and his wife were nice and the food was great. Only thing to be aware of is that it is about a 30 minute drive up a heavily potholed role to get to Sean's and the last 100 metres or so is a bit rough for a 2WD compact car. There isn't a ton to do at the cabin other than chill out in a gorgeous setting, so just keep that in mind if booking for a longer period of time.

    Benjamin2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Kentucky, Cave Mountain was out second place at which we stayed in Jamaica. After quit a bumpy road up the mountain we were welcomed by locals and later on by Sean. While Kentucky is up in the hills, you will still hear loud reggae coming out of speakers, echoed via the mountain tops. After Sean picked us up, we drove a bit more up the hill and arrived after about ten minutes at his place, which has something of a small community with the different cabins divided over 3 acres of land. We stayed for two nights in one of the cabins of Sean and his wife. The place was even better then our expectations. Surrounded by nature, birds and in a total relaxing vibe, we had two amazing nights. The first evening Sean's wife cooked us a lovely local curried goat. With a view over the mountains and sea we ate like kings&queens and experienced the evening took over the surroundings of the cabin. Birds, insects, frogs and more species sang their song as the night was getting darker. It all was topped of with stars shining brighter than you can imagine. The cabin was really spacious and clean and the bed was great and comfortable. The next morning we woke up with a view which is shown in one of the pictures. Sean brought us some lovely fruit, an omelet and the best coffee!! We rested the whole day, walked around and talked with some real friendly locals. We experienced heavy raining and thunder which actually made the experience complete. That night we ate daily caught Snapper and had another good night. Ps: the outside shower is a great experience while waking up:). We would recommend this place to everybody who is visiting Jamaica on their own and want to experience a part of the real Jamaican life, kind people and beautiful nature! Edo & Rowan

Our 3 cozy rooms (2 cottages) are uniquely built and can fit 2 each. They are located in a beautiful flowers garden on a hill with sea view just 5 min. walk from the beach. Enjoy breakfast/dinner on request or do it yourself and support the shops, bars & restaurants nearby.
'Bamboo Palace' is a small round cozy cottage with a cooling thatched roof. It has a double bed and mosquito net, a shelf and a small table. There is a bench and another small table outside to chill. The other 2 rooms, 'Jungle Shack' and 'Higher Heights', have their own listing. Just check them out.
In our neighborhood you can experience the real Jamaican life with all its ups and downs. It's easy to get in contact with the people around and they will love to teach you how to play dominoes or dance the Jamaican style, and they're always willing to help with anything you want.
  • If you are looking for a retreat from the "rat race", this place is perfect. A note of caution - this place is very rustic, off-the-beaten-path, and will not appeal to everyone. But, if you would like to be in the midst of the "authentic" Jamaica, to have time to meditate, relax and just decompress, you will enjoy this place. There is little in the way of amenities - which is really the whole point - but still it is very comfortable and welcoming. Lydia and her family were warm and friendly, and provided all the basics that are needed for a couple of days away from technology, modernity and the typical tourist experience. The cottages are on Lydia's property in the midst of the local community, a short walk from the beach and the quaint bars and shops in Belmont. It's not likely a place for the novice, this is nothing like the all-inclusive resorts or even the simple hotels that most travelling to Jamaica are familiar with. But, if you enjoy camping or other more rustic settings, and have experience in dealing with the locals, this cottage will likely fit all your needs. There is a shared shower and commode, a very comfortable bed, and the mosquito net protected me perfectly. The temperature is cooler up on the hill and there is no need for AC at night. And Lydia has done a wonderful job of using the natural flora to provide a little retreat into nature. The place may not be for everyone, but I know I will be visiting for years to come, any time I need to get away and have time to myself, meditating and winding down, withdrawing from the rigors of everyday life. For the adventurous looking for an atypical and relaxing experience, I highly recommend this place, and encourage you to check out the wonderful surrounding areas of Belmont and Bluefields.

  • We stayed in the little hut, it was very sweet and comfy. The outdoor shower is lovely and refreshing. Belmont has a very beautiful beach a 10min walk away. With great bars and ital food. Great to see the real Jamaica away from tourists. Gatty is a lovely host and has a very sweet dog and kitten. There are cute lizards and beautiful hummingbirds. There are mosquitos, so bring spray.

  • Really good place for relax and vacation! :)

    Tess2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lydia's property is true to the wonderful description she provides on Airbnb. My stay in the bamboo palace was everything I wanted and more. A truly magical experience. I returned home feeling inspired and hope to return someday. She is an exceptional host. A kind person who is knowledgeable and caring. This was my first experience in Jamaica. As a young woman traveling alone, safety is always a concern, but I never felt unsafe in Lydia's care. I was given the opportunity to see and experience real Jamaican life, and that was priceless.

  • Lydia is a very friendly and nice person. She always tries to make your trip perfekt. The accomodation is wonderfull with all the plants. Belmont is a beautiful little city with white Beaches. The people there are friendly and are willing to help everyone. Sincerelly, Maria & Matthias

    Maria2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lydia was a lovely host. She was engaging and had good stories to share and information about the area. When we stayed, there were 2 rentable units on the property. We were in the hut, not the cottage. It is essentially a bed in a shack. Although the bed is very comfortable, there was not enough room to open our bags or move around freely in the hut. There was also no fan and it was quite stuffy with lack of air flow. There were also quite a few cockroaches running around. The bathroom was shared with the cottage, and acted as an ensuite from their unit. The lock for that door was on the inside of their place, so we couldn't "lock them out". The shared bathroom situation was quite uncomfortable, due to the lack of privacy and space. There is also no sound proofing between the bathroom and their room. We ended up leaving after one night. The property is gorgeous and lush and you feel like you're in a private jungle, and maybe we would have been happier if the cottage was available, however the hut was definitely not compatible with 2 adults who like some breathing room.

The real Jamaica. A two bedroom board house with a large kitchen, spacious living room and porch. The large private fenced off yard has fruit trees. The beach is right in front! Little Bay is a very natural place with minimal tourists. Time to meditate and get away.
Little Bay Beach House is a relaxing laid back setting right on the beach. The cottage is 900 square feet with ample space for 4 guests and big fenced off yard. You tube "the beach house little bay Jamaica" for a look or "little bay test one" under negrildoc.
Jamaican neighbours willing to laugh and lend a helping hand. Way chill out natural environment away from the hustle and bustle of the resorts. Walk the beach, check out the Bob Marley natural spring cave; Annette can arrange snorkelling, fishing, or hiking. Check out aerial view Search for "little bay test one negrildoc".
  • What an amazing place to stay . We had a wonderful week in paradise , Annette cooked amazing breakfasts each morning and was so lovely ! The beach was great and we watched hummingbirds and other creatures from the veranda . The little supermarket about a ten minute walk away along the beach had everything we needed and all the locals talked to us on the way , even the young children . There was everything imaginable in the kitchen to prepare meals which is very unusual from the places we have stayed previously . Would recommend everyone to go to little bay it is incredibly laid back and perfect for chilling .. Thanks Witold and Annette

  • This is a lovely place if you are looking for a secluded retreat right on the water. Unfortunately it was not for us because there were too many mosquitoes, no internet, and the beach was quite dirty at the time we were there (water was very sandy/cloudy and a lot of seaweed). The house is very clean and everything is available (soap, dishes, towels). Annette received us and came both days we were there to clean up and make sure we had everything we needed. Because we were traveling with a small child the mosquitos and very loud music that comes from neighbors was not ideal.

    Habeeba2016-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fabulous! We had a create time. The beach house and its surroundings is beautiful. The neighbors are very friendly and we were taken good care of. Annette and family: thank you so much. We will be back!

  • Wonderful private cottage right on the beach in a sleepy little village. We were looked after so well by Annette - she cooked us some wonderful meals and we loved chatting to her about life in Little Bay. We enjoyed snorkelling and kayaking from the little bay cabins five minutes walk away and lounging around on the terrace in the evenings listening to the wildlife and the waves. Such a different experience to the resorts in Jamaica, laid back and real.

    Rowan 2014-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had an amazing time in Little Bay. We were looking for a quiet babymoon. We were there in February/March and the weather was perfect. We explored lots of sealife when walking in the ocean and found huge hermit crabs and star fish. But don't walk in the grasses as there are lots of urchins in them. Annette and Courteney were wonderful. Annette made the best Jamaican food!! Lots of seafood as this is a fishing village but also some fabulous jerk chicken and traditinoal jamaican foods. The fruits on the property were delicious! My husband drank coconut water from the coconut everyday. There are also a nasberry, lime, and cherry trees on the property and there is a small mango and papya tree that are growing. The fruits in jamaica are amazing we also had Jamaican apples and star apples that were phenomenal. This is off the beaten path which my husband and I like alot. There are tourists without it being touristy. The cottage was rustic but had all the amenities we needed. We read and played dominos, and walked around the village and beaches alot. Courteney picked us up at the airport in Montego Bay and we drove through the mountains and through sugar cane fields and saw all the school children in their brightly colored uniforms. There were lots of fruit stands on the side of the road. If you want to get some groceries you can in sav-la-mar. On the way back to Montego Bay we drove through Negril along the coast. We would highly recocmend the Little Bay Beach house and plan on gong back in the future!!

  • This is truly a hidden gem in Jamaica. It is the epitome of tranquility and was our favorite place that we visited on the island. Highly recommended!

    Melissa2014-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • I wish we could stay here for a few more weeks! Little Bay is a hidden gem, offering peace and serenity that one imagines in a dream vacation. Add to that a large cottage on the beach with every comfort one could ask for, and delicious home made food (we asked Annette to cook for us). We truly enjoyed our stay here, and would return the next chance we have.

This is a one-of-a-kind a place to stay in Jamaica. Situated on top of the mountain it provides a different experience than being on the coast. Sitting on the patio you are overwhelmed by the tropical forest and sea beyond.
Good Hope Retreat is a private artists retreat now open to the public. It consists of three extraordinary hand-crafted wood, island cabin-style houses on an estate of four acres, situated majestically in the high Mountains of Westmoreland, Jamaica. Our retreat is off-the-beaten track, amid lush vegetation, with our Jamaican hills overlooking the island's South Coast. Our sunset from this vantage point, 700 meters (2100 feet) above sea level, is an exclusive nightly spectacle of beauty. Cool evenings and warm but moderate daytime temperatures, individuals with heightened appreciations of natural wonders and phenomenon will be inspired to no end by all that is to be found and re-discovered in the rural tradition of Good Hope Retreat.
This may be the best part of your stay here at Goodhope, our neighborhood is one of the most friendliest you will find in Jamaica. Most of our guest enjoy walking around and talking to the people here. You can join some farmers at the rum bar for a drink. Or just start a conversation with some of children on the way to school. We have never had anybody harass our guest or worse yet steal anything. If you check out some reviews you will notice that people feel safer here than in other resort (website hidden) we also have a lot of vegetable and herb farmers.
  • This place is heaven..! We stayed at the cottage for 2 nights but we would have stayed there forever! Sean and his wife are charms, they were cooking for us breakfast and dinner for 25$ each. Totally worth it! And the view is incredible. I highly recommand this place. Thanks!

  • Great, relaxed place away from the touristic coast side. Sean's family took great care of everything.

  • We had an excellent stay at Cave Mountain. Sean was really a brilliant host! Well recommended! !!

  • We had a really wonderful time staying at the cabin. Sean and his family cooked some meals for us while we were there and they were excellent. The views from the cabins are absolutely outstanding, and the grounds the cabins are on are very well kept with lots of fruit trees and flowers. I can't say enough about the view, the pictures don't do it justice... You won't find another place with such a breathtaking view. Cabins were quiet and clean and had everything we needed. Sean is knowledgable about the area and what to do for fun that is nearby. If we come back to Jamaica we will definitely stay here again.

  • Good hope is good vibes, total relaxation, chilling and liming "inna di bush" :) The views are to die for, the seclusion, peace, quiet and laid back dolce far niente of a mountain top hamlet in tropical rain forest are just perfect for peace. If that is your pace you will love it here, feeling like you are in a tree house. Sean and Geneva are gracious hosts and handle it all with composure despite the difficulty of making this run in such a secluded spot. Geneve cooks great local food on top of it all. Go and stay, plus if you get cabin fever plenty of activities are within a short drive--beach and fish sanctuary trips in Bluefields with RAJ Tours, YS Falls, Black River, are all nearby. Irie, blessed love!

  • Views are breathtaking! Cabin is super cute and rustic -nature lovers haven! Sean and his wife offers a truly authentic Jamaican experience! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

  • Definitely stay here! Good Hope Retreat is an escape into tropical bliss! If you love the outdoors, healthful and delicious home cooked food, a new adventure every time you step out the door; then you should be at Good Hope! Sean and Geneva have created a wonderful and loving environment for you to flourish in the raw beauty of Jamaican countryside. Take the hike down the mountain to Bluefields bay beach: it's a lot of downhill walking but so worth it once you hit the beach and its pristine. Play and adventure through the land of the retreat (so many great mini trails to check out-and the kids will happily tell you about great spots for flowers, pictures, fruit bearing trees etc...) and absolutely walk down to the shops and meet other locals they all have great stories, experiences, and life to share! I traveled out here on my own and I felt so safe every minute of my time with Geneva and Janel! Janel is the coolest tour guide/entertainment specialist/friend I have met! I am proud to say I not only had a wonderful introspective experience on this trip but I found new friends that are more like family!

  • This was my first Airbnb experience and it was phenomenal. The house was absolutely amazing and the view of the sea was breathtaking. You are literally up in the mountains and can see the sea for what seems like miles away. Sean was a perfect host who provided us with authentic meals and was always there in case we needed anything. We were lucky enough to meet his beautiful family and also went on a walk one day and were kindly greeted by all of the locals. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to see what Jamaica can offer, aside from the tourist attractions in Montego Bay. If you need a getaway to take a break from everyday life, this is the ideal place and Sean and his family are the best hosts anyone could ask for.

  • Peace and tranquility at it's best!! From the moment we stepped into this beautiful retreat we felt the relaxation taking over... Mark and the staff welcomed us and made us feel right at home. Gorgeous rustic log houses in the middle of the jungle, fantastic food served in a panoramic view restaurant which overlooks the mountains...and we just had a perfect 3 night stay with our lil 3year old princess, which felt in heaven and was smiling all along...

    Maoz2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and his family have created a heaven on earth ;) the rooms, food, the surroundings and the energy of the staff breath professionalism and desire to amaze their guest. I highly recommend going to Zimbali to anyone coming to Jamaica.

  • I absolutely love this place. I plan to return as soon as I get a chance. Marc (host) & Alicia (chef) have a special magic that they have created here. The love flows from the top to the bottom. Any concerns or request were immediately addressed. The food was outstanding!! The waitresses Bevis & Christina greeted me every morning with a smile. There were other members of the staff that help make my trip exceptional. I told Alicia & Marc that I wasn't going to tell anyone about this place because I want it to be available whenever I return. I said it with a very serious tone, but as you can see I was joking because I am writing this review. People need to experience this get away, drink the fresh water from the mountain & eat freshly prepared meals with fruits, vegetables & herbs that come straight from their garden on the premises. I see why they call it "An Eden in the mountains". I spent a little time looking for the tree of life while I was there.....just joking. If the tree of life is any where on earth it would be there at Zimbali. I recommend that you take the shuttle that Marc offers you. A day or so before your flight Marc will call you to see if you need a ride, trust me, & allow Marc to send someone to get you. Navigating up this mountain can be a challenge but he has the staff to accommodate your needs. Come to Zimbali to renew your senses. I decided to look up the meaning for the word/name Zimbali just now. Its deep, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) it. You should truly check out this retreat for your own spiritual awakening. Namaste, peace, love, & of course respect.

  • My husband and I booked a last minute vacation to Jamaica for our 12th wedding anniversary...we had been to Jamaica two times before and can I say by farrrrrr this was our BEST experience!!.. Alecia and Mark were WONDERFUL hosts!.. We have never stayed in the mountains before and we loved it! We were most pleased with the overall experience. We strongly recommend booking Zimbali Retreat!

  • Zimbali is a unique experience that allows you to live right in nature while taking part of the rich culture that Jamaica has to offer. The food is like no other place it is just amazing. The owners Mark and Alecia has made sure we have everything we need up till the slightest detail. We love Zimbali so much that we even extended our stay. Thank You for letting us be part of it.

  • My husband, daughter and I recently returned from our 5 night stay at the beautiful Zimbali. It is truly a wonderful place to disconnect from your regular hectic schedule and reconnect with nature, yourself and family or friends. The food - Fresh, delicious and natural. We don't use salt or dairy in our cooking at home so this place was perfect for us. The people - Felt like being around family. Chef, Fudd, Fire and all the staff - Thank you! The landscape - Lush and breathtaking. Sit amongst the massive bamboo, bathe in the river and do the Rasta Tour!

  • Zimbali is a special place. Mark and Alicia are gracious hosts and they have a really amazing thing going on. From the friendliness of the staff to the beauty of the property you can't help but feel amazed. The food is superb and all local and organic from their on site farm. The Rasta tour is beyond compare and truly gives an inspirational look into the lives of the Rasta lifestyle. I already can't wait to go back. Our only regret was not staying longer.

  • Months ago I decided to go somewhere that I could free my mind. I chose here and I don't regret my choice. One of the most peaceful parts of my visit was just sitting and listening to nature. I didn't realize it at the time, but I hadn't seen stars in a long time but Clifford "Fudd" was gracious enough to point them out on my first night. The family/staff at Zimbali were interesting to watch and listen to. The young ladies and Rojay *spelling* were always very kind and courteous! I wish them well in life! The food was good and filling. The room and grounds are kept very clean! I happened to have my Rasta tour with Fiyah on my last full day there and I have to say it was perfect timing for me. I learned a valuable lesson from him that day. There were 2 other Rasta men at the camp that day as well that shared interesting life lessons. Im glad i took the trek up the mountain for complete serenity. I felt safe my entire time at the retreat, which was very important for me as a solo traveler. This was my first time traveling solo and will not be my last thanks to Zimbali. I am trying to figure out a time to bring back my husband and best friend couple for a few days. Many thanks to you all!

A private cabin in lush gardens. Our "artist cabin" is the perfect choice for someone looking for a good budget cottage with a view of the Caribbean.
  • What a wonderful family run retreat. I went to get away from a stressful work environment and being around such beautiful scenery snd such kind people was nice. Sean and his family were the best and the cottage was like something from the garden of Eden. I recommend it highly!

    Shawn2015-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 2 wonderful nights at Sean's place. It is quiet up there, super relaxing and 100% away from all the touristy stuff and craziness in other parts of Jamaica, which was awesome. The spectacular views from the cabin, the delicious food cooked by Sean's wife Geneva (USD 25 for breakfast and lunch per person), the sounds of the rainforest and the lush vegetation up there were a highlight of our trip! It is far away from everything though - not much to do in Kentucky...you can take a taxi down to Bluefields beach but that will run you USD30. The drive from Montego Bay airport was quite an adventure to say the least, but totally worth it. People were friendly and we felt safe at all times. Overall highly recommended if you want to experience the "real" Jamaica.

    Marianne2016-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and his family were the most amazing hosts! The view from our cabin was amazing, Gen's home cooking was delicious, and we can't wait to go back! The price is an absolute steal, it's easily worth double what we paid. It was a bit of an adventure getting there, but so well worth it.

    Kimberly2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a pretty awesome place. My wife and I loved our time here! It is a neat cabin with an absolutely beautiful view. You are high in the mountain and surrounded by nature. It is stunning! The host and his wife are very nice and can cook absolutely beautiful, delicious meals and can tailor it to your needs (we had wonderful vegan meals). The drive up is a bit long, but if you stick with it it is well worth the trip. It really is a cool experience and allows you to experience Jamaica in a very unique way.

    Clark2016-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Sean is a great host. We had some issue and could only stay for one night instead of two and Sean was really comprehensive about that! Regarding the cabin, it was awesome and really had an outstanding view. Just make sure you get some anti-mosquito spray! The cabin is really isolated and it will take you a good 30min to reach it (by car), so make sure to bring your food or you can order directly to Sean and he will provide you some really good food!

    Maxime2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • The view was spectacular. Sean upgraded us to a larger cabin due to the hurricane that was approaching Jamaica. The cabin is very cute and was just the right size for us. We opted for the meal deals....OMG...Geneva is a fantastic cook. They have the cutest little boys. We made new friends and will be returning again next year. Thank you Sean and Geneva for everything!

    Dori2016-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a beautiful nature getaway with spectacular views. We are very much nature people, and for this part of our vacation we mainly stayed in and relaxed. Every night the sunset was gorgeous and dinner on the balcony was wonderful. Downside - it's quite a drive up a steep and narrow mountain, and about an hour from any activities. If you want a romantic getaway to enjoy some time in a secluded paradise, come here. It feels like your own treehouse up in the mountains. Our host Sean was very nice. He gave us our privacy which was great. He also helped us with our bags on the small nature hike to the cabin, and also volunteered his own modem when we asked for internet. He also upgraded our cabin free of charge since the Budget Cabin had a water issue. Overall, this is a beautiful place in nature to enjoy breathtaking views of Jamaica's coastline. Make sure you have a plan for food - bring your own for the duration of your stay or Sean's family also offers a cooked breakfast and dinner for a price. It's a bit tricky up and down the mountain - so plan to stay in, bring books, good conversation, and a desire to enjoy yourself away from the hustle and bustle.

  • The Wilton house is a great place to feel the beauty of Jamaica. The garden is lovely, and the water is beautiful. The hosts are generous and available. They made our stay comfortable. They provided us with fruits and necessities, and the guys really appreciated the fact that they could do laundry. A short drive to Negril, if you wanted to do some activities. So we balanced out the quiet day of much need rest and relaxation at the House, with dining with friends in Negril. Our visit was during some renovations, which didn't disturb us, but I strongly believe that more accommodations are to come. CONS: the kitchen was very small. and the main wifi was down, and the alternative was weak, so all the work we planned on doing, didn't occur. But the grounds, and the bed, and water made up for the lack of productivity, in that it forced leisure time on me.

  • Newton 'Bigga' was so hospitable from the get go. We took a bus from Kingston to Savannah lar mar, about 20 minutes from his property. He picked us up from the bus stop and drove us to pick up some dinner. His family are beautiful. They offer amazing home cooked meals, we had something different for breakfast and dinner each day, with fresh juices. We got treated to limeade and banana bread! The little cottage is very comfortable, plenty of room and hammocks in the yard to chill out. It is a short walk to a lovely beach. We also recommend the 'crab shack' down the road for delicious food if you want to head out. Bigga knows everything about the area, and offers tours to Black river, Pelican Bar, YS falls and Appleton Estate. We paid $80US to the guide who took us to black river and Pelican Bar and another $80US to Bigga for transport for two of us. We really loved our stay here, and would love to return one day.

  • I absolutely love Shades Cottage Guesthouse! Newton "Bigga" Johnson and his family treated my friends and I like we were their long lost family members. They showed us nothing but love! We ate a fresh breakfast and a traditional Jamaican dinner every night and it was deee-licious! Bigga's place is a SAFE countryside paradise it has fruit trees, hammocks, chickens in a chicken coop and a 5min walk to the beach. I had a different smoothie daily from one of the fruit trees (mmm mmm good). I celebrated my birthday at Shades Cottage and Bigga, Gwen (Bigga's wife) and his daughters helped to make that day the best birthday ever! Thanks again Bigga & Gwen!!!! I will never stay in an all-inclusive again! Bigga showed us the "real side" of Jamaica. He took us cruising down the Black River, zip lining over waterfalls, swimming in caves and much much more. He has an unlimited amount of things for his guest to do. I've been to Jamaica three times before and this trip will go down as my best trip ever! All I know, is that, I will be back to Jamaica sooner than later and for now on I will be staying at Shades Cottage Guesthouse.

  • safe place. 5 dogs keep watch. Of course, they bark at night. Like a small farm, with many pigeons and chickens. The neighbors have Gockel and Goat. They love to hear loud music at night. The beach near the house has unfortunately urchins. Others are easy accessible by bus, taxi. Very endeavor hosts. Unfortunately, the kitchen of the house without stove. sicherer Ort. 5 Hunde halten die Uhr.

Blue Hole Gardens is a complete experience of Jamaica . Situated in the heart of one of the oldest Rasta communities , surrounded by the ganja fields of our farmers, everything at Blue Hole has been proudly crafted by our own community members.
Blue Hole Gardens provides four distinct " spaces" for guests to discover and explore. The first space is the Victorian cottage, where the finest English linen and lace edged silk gauze cover the canopy beds ; an old fashioned English claw foot bathtub and outdoor shower recreates the magic of a Jamaica that has long since disappeared ….. Sharna lovingly cleans , cooks and prepares the ital juices from our own organic vegetable and fruit garden . This space is definitely a bride's dream. The second space is the botanical and organic fruit and vegetable gardens . All the fruits that you have heard about are growing here , as well as the traditional maroon herbs which are used daily ! The Blue Hole and the river spots are the crowning glory of these magical and mysterious spaces. The third space is the secluded woodland walks behind the Blue Hole , dotted with tiny fresh water springs , butterflies and hummingbirds. This space is part of the Roaring River Water Sanctuary, and is cared for and maintained by the volunteers of our community. The fourth space is the village and the community. Come and meet the courageous men and women of Jamaica who you cannot ever meet in hotels!
The Blue Hole Garden and Roaring River Water Sanctuary project have acted as a rallying cry for change and hope for the community. Long time abandoned by the local authorities , with a failed community based tourism project around the caves, Roaring River has been rated as a place where tourists are ripped off and scammed. This situation is changing completely , as the community itself refuses that a handful of it's members continues to ruin chances for a new beginning! The Blue Hole project is working in the heart of the community to help bring about the long awaited changes for which the villagers hope . Part of our proceeds goes to village charity programs , as we work hand in hand with the Roaring River Youth Club , and share our organic vegetables elderly of the community. Each guest is therefore helping us to achieve our goals , and we are grateful to them all!
  • We stayed three nights here and Everything just so great! Jennifer even called us from abroad to make sure we can find the property. Also the housekeeper and the cook are very nice. We had a very interesting tour in the community. And it's about 45minutes drive to get Negril beach, which is quite ok with our rental car.

  • Our stay at the Blue Hole Gardens was SUPERB!! I would love to provide a rating of more than five stars, but that is the maximum star rating. Everything from the frequent communication by the host, outstanding transportation services rendered by Dale, the most amazing cook in Jamaica namely Sharna, the extremely resourceful on site manager Urnell and the fascinating housekeeper Alicia. Me, my daughter and her friends absolutely without a doubt LOVED the place. They had a few reservations because it was approximately 45 minutes away from the airport and no television, but those reservations quickly went away upon our arrival. The stay at the Blue Hole Gardens provided us with a Jamaican experience that we will never forget. Dale, Sharna, Urnell and Alicia provided such professional services. Everyone possessed their own unique quality, but the hospitality, resources and great communication makes me want to come back again and again and again. I have already started to share my vacation stories with family and friends who I highly recommend at least a one night stay at the Blue Hole Gardens. Thank you for such a memorable Jamaican experience.

  • Blue Hole Gardens is a magical place. The place and people are more wonderful and beautiful than the great pictures show. My family and I had a wonderful time experiencing nature, local culture and amazing food. We will be back as soon as possible. The entire crew working at the property were genuinely welcoming and showed us the entire property and surrounding area. The project at Blue Hole Gardens is helping to revitalize a community and is something any ecologically conscious traveler should see.

  • My experience at the blue hole was truly life changing. From start to finish it was a beautiful, created life long friendships with Sharna and Alecia and Dale was the ideal tour guide. I will be returning in June, and more than likely many times after that. Thank you for everything Jennifer.

  • My experience staying at the wonderful house that Jennifer has curated was nothing short of amazing! I can't think of one negative thing to stay about my entire trip. Communication with Jennifer was easy and responsive. Airport pick up and dealing with Dale was also easy and convenient. But easily the best part was the staff working on the property. Sharna is an amazing cook and is able to satisfy and request. Alecia is an amazing person and a great cook as well. Owen was also pleasant to deal with and toured me around the gardens. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure your experience is a pleasant one. After enjoying my time at the blue hole gardens I don't think I will be able to go anywhere else in Jamaica the next time I visit. If you are looking for a relaxing, secluded vacation that allows you to enjoy the true essence of Jamaica this property is for you. I will be coming back for sure!

  • In a word..Perfection This property is everything and more than what the images can convey. The gardens, blue hole, river, and especially the stunning restored Victorian home. Worth every penny, I will be back for sure!

  • Stayed four days in September at the Blue Hole Gardens with my mother. A neat experience. Far away from the hustle and bustle of Kingston; fresh air and clean water, friendly staff, fantastic gardens and community. A complete recharge. Fresh foods and juices prepared on the premises. Beautiful views from the verandah.

  • Our stay at the Blue Hole Garden was a true experience. The accommodations and the garden are fantastic, quaint, and charming. Sharna, Alicia, and the rest of the team were truly welcoming and guided us to discover the community, the river, the caves. The food was an experience in itself...nothing was missing!

  • My wife and I stayed at this private beach house for four days and had a great time. We were the first Airbnb guests to stay here and drove our rented car from Montego Bay. Waking up in the morning to a beautiful view of the bay with two or three fishing boats heading out to sea, going down to the beach with a cup of coffee and then taking a swim was wonderful. Kayaks are also available. Our bedroom and en suite bathroom/shower were large, clean and brightly furnished. We also had access to a kitchen with stove, microwave, and all cookware, dining room, and living room. We cooked some of our meals at the beach house. Wi-fi connectivity is excellent in the main living room of the attached house. The house also has an excellent library of books about Jamaican history, including Philip Gosse's classic 1844 description of Jamaican plants and birds. Bubbles, the onsite manager, is a wealth of knowledge about Jamaican life, local sights, guides and tours. He recommended Mayfield Falls which is spectacular but a little hard to find, and an extraordinary boat ride far up the Black River (much further than the larger tour boats go) to Sister Lou's and Cheese Rock, and then to the Pelican Bar with "Taga" aka Teddy, a local guide par excellance. We also purchased a day pass at Sandals Whitehouse and enjoyed their water sports (ironically, we had a sailing lesson from Teddy's son, Ted) and had lunch and dinner. I would certainly return to Bluefields and stay here again.

Welcome to "One Love Cottage"! Enjoy your authentic and sweet Jamaican living experience in paradise. "One Love Cottage" is situated on the edge of the aqua blue Caribbean sea between the two small fishing villages, Little Bay and Salmon Point. We have two bedrooms that can be rented together or separately. We live on the premises but the bedrooms are very separate with private bathroom just for our guests.
Here, you will appreciate the beauty of the sea, the surrounding nature, the relaxing and meditative tranquility. You can swim in the beautiful ocean, sun bath, read, drink cocktails and admire the stunning sunset, taste the delicious local specialities and melt into complete bliss... We invite you to share our home where we will treat you as one of the family. We can accommodate four guests in two bedrooms: one large bedroom for up to two people in a queen-size bed and two others in a large bedroom with two single beds, both sharing one spacious private bathroom with a large shower, sink, toilet and walk-in closet. • I can't say enough about our stay at the One Love Cottage. It was, by far, the most peaceful and quiet experiences I could have imagined, EXACTLY what we needed. There were also fun things nearby to do when we wanted. Cows, goats, and dogs just roamed around this little fishing village. For me, that was the greatest part. I'm an animal lover and couldn't get enough of walking through the herds or hanging out with a random dog on any given day. The people of the village were so kind and welcoming. Patrick and Veronique are wonderful hosts and all they ask is that you enjoy and be yourself. My boyfriend and I enjoyed every second of our peace and quiet.

  • If you are looking to experience the best Jamaica has to offer then welcome to One Love Cottage. This hidden treasure has been transformed into a relaxing getaway that should be experienced by anyone who is sick and tired of city life. Make sure you hire them to drive you down if it is your first time visiting because it is such a hidden location. Pat and Veron are not people just renting out a room in their house, they are offering an experience that no one else has in Jamaica (we stayed in three different places) and we only wish we could have canceled the rest and stayed with them. The house is breathtaking and the location is to die for. I miss them on a level I was not expecting. They instantly became our family and we loved to spend time with them. Also, pat rolls a mean Bob Marly so make sure you ask him to teach you =) They have two dogs who are total sweethearts if you don't like dogs or are allergic just keep that in mind. The ocean was warm and wonderful to swim in, the breeze from the sea kept us cool so we were never too hot. Also, some tips for Jamaica DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ANYONE AT THE AIRPORT. They will overcharge you horribly for anything (especially smoke) Overall I would say that One Love Cottage will forever have a special place in our hearts and I only wish to share that with everyone who is open to adventure and trying something new.

  • Beautiful home with artistic touches. Gorgeous Moroccan and Jamaican artefacts. The house is situated right next to the ocean and has a constant lovely breeze. If you want to be in the real and secluded Jamaican countryside this is perfect. The roads are off the beaten track, and i would suggest having a car to get around. We didn't have a car so had to rely on the host to take us around but they are very helpful kind people and was a great place to stay. Highly recommended. However no wifi. I think you can get wifi in a place close by.

    Joy2017-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was not a five star experience for us. 1. NO HOT WATER for showers and cooking is a big minus and the refrigerator we shared was very small and our space was limited to a couple of beer bottles. 2. NO ACCESS to a swimmable beach. 3. The road to the facility is terribly rocky and the drive of a few miles takes 20 minutes. Veronica and Patrick were delightful people and the view and sleeping area was nice. Sitting and talking with them in the dark hours was very special and we enjoyed that time.

    Georgette2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to escape the 'developed' tourist experience, and see a genuine Jamaican coastal community, complete with fishing villages, and wonderful to explore ocean side beaches, this is the place. We felt at home from the onset of our stay with Veronique and Patrick. They were great hosts, eager to show us around and to share their home and express their connect to the One Love Jamaican attitude. We found the home and location to be as represented. Seaside with azure waters open view and peacefully tranquil. The bedroom was awesome, large, with great fully screened windows that opened to allow airflow that kissed and cooled us. Comfortable bed also important! The room made the stay, with its atmosphere of spaciousness, sound-separated from the main area, we found our privacy complete and yet felt warm connection to our hosts. The private bathroom was great, big tiled (URL HIDDEN) hot water was something that posed some challenges. This seems to be common to most similar places in Jamaica. We loved sharing the kitchen and food with our hosts, they taught us a lot about local foods and preparation. Ackee is an amazing food, soursop, sweetsop, calliloo, mangos, papayas and super sweet pineapples were highly appreciated. Little Bay is indeed off the beaten path, the property is located away from all bustle and is so close to the lovely accessible cove featured in the photo array. Do bring what you need to be comfortable, as local stores are somewhat limited and the journey to the larger town is an 35 min trip. The road access is somewhat challenged, rough but totally (URL HIDDEN) speeding possible. Don't let that stop you from enjoying this bit of paradise located between fishing villages of Salmon Point and Little Bay. Local attractions of Lost Beach and the Blue Hole were enjoyable and the bikes made our explorations possible. Best attractions for us were the friendly local people, finding local fruits and fresh lobsters, and our Valentine's night in Negril with sunset at Rick's, special dinner and Reggae band to cap it off. The stars with no light polution were amazing..and the silence with little human caused sound was a welcome break indeed. Many loose wondering goats were a memory we will hold forever, as they are certainly the local wildlife. Our hosts were more than accommodating, they were genuine, generous and open to us in a special way. We left Jamaica with a ride provided by both, with Patrick at the wheel guiding us to Montego Bay and its airport in our final hours. We look forward to returning to visit again and to visit our favorite place in Jamaica.

  • Staying at Mount Tambrin was an unforgettable experience. Staying on this beautiful property made us feel like we were staying in a fantasy land right out of the pages of a book. The food was delicious, and Canute and everyone else there didn't treat us like guests, but like visiting family members. I can't wait to visit again!

  • This home is what turned Jamaica from a fantastic vacation to a trip to paradise. Located on top of a mountain, it overlooks the plain below with a distant view of the ocean. The garden is absolutely spectacular with a beautiful home (and fantastic rooms). When I saw where we were staying, I really thought I made a mistake and accidentally booked a really expensive and exclusive hotel. There are two things to keep in mind, if you are not driving, make sure you make arrangements for meals, this place is secluded and farther from town. The other is the art, there is a great deal of it and it leans strongly toward nude male elements. I had no problem with it and there was a family staying with younger kids who did not mind at all. But, if that is something that may make you feel very uncomfortable, I would not recommend this location. If it is on the edge of your comfort zone, go! This is really a tiny piece of paradise.

    Marianna2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • I have to rate the art throughout the place as Adult-18. Nonetheless, this place is definitely off the beaten path. The temperature is cool since its in actually up the hills. The gardens are very beautiful. The grounds are quiet and there is a nice view of the plains below. 3 of the 4 bedrooms have glass windows & doors so you can see the views from inside; 1 has no windows and is pretty small compared to the other 3. The bathrooms were beautiful and clean. The chef is on-point and breakfast was great and sufficient to satisfy our hunger! Cons: the bedrooms were a bit musty and a few persons in my group experienced some sinus problems. On the whole, this was a good experience and our host Canute was wonderful, he drove out to meet us when we got "lost" along the way and was attentive to whatever we needed while we stayed there.

    Riese2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a place to experience the mountains and rural areas of Jamaica not too far from the west end/Negril. Canute and the staff on the vast property were not only helpful, they cooked traditional fresh meals for us took us on hikes and were delightful to talk too. The place is very quiet and secluded and was a unique experience and place we will not forget. The amount of lush nature throughout the gardens, farms and property was spectacular. We hope to return.

  • What a gorgeous location, All was surprisingly amazing it makes me smile even thinking about it now. Beautiful, clean, unique and Canute is amazingly kind and excellent host. I don't think I have enough words to explained how nice that place is.

  • What a find! A five star service and property! If you're looking for somewhere full of character, authenticity, history and culture, this hideaway in the hills of Westmorland is for you! The views from the villa's veranda are stunning. Looking out over the vista every morning was such a privilege as was wondering through the woods to all the secret clearings and buildings. I can't believe the fantastic array of home grown and cooked West Indian food we were served for breakfast each morning. I've never eaten so well! Canute was an amazing host. Nothing was too much to ask and he accommodated all our queries and requests before we'd even travelled and was just as accommodating throughout. We felt safe and cared for throughout our trip and our party ranged from age 2-72. I loved being able to chat to the resident sculptor and artist about his work and I learned so much. It's quite far up in the hills so definitely more of an escape holiday as although not far to things in the town/beach. I cannot more highly recommend this property.

    Odette2016-06-25T00:00:00Z

This mountain get-away offers a glimpse of real life in Jamaica. This villa is perched with a view of the mountains, walking distance to local town with island famous "soup man"! 20 minutes to Bluefield's Beach, Roaring river and capital city.
Beautiful studio apartment with king sized bed, TV, spacious bathroom, and fully equipped kitchen. The home is tastefully and comfortably decorated. Our nephew Dane is dedicated to assisting you throughout your stay. He lives in a room on the lower level of the building.
Local community - guests will feel like a part of the community as locals are very friendly and accomodating. Nearby town of Haddo offers a convenience market and the Island Famous SOUP man! Feel free to wander the side streets off of the main road walking by the homes of local residents and into the hillsides beyond. Please do not photograph people without permission.
  • This beautiful Villa is a breath of fresh "Mountain Air"! It looks just like the pictures and is very comfortable and tastefully decorated. I loved waking up, brewing my cup of morning coffee, and sitting on the balcony to watch the school children and colorful locals walk by! This is a true taste of the "real Jamaica!" During my morning coffee, a man walked by selling freshly roasted cashew s- YUM! After Yoga on the balcony and a brisk cool shower (yes the water is cold but rumor has it heater may be installed soon!) I had the property manager, Dane, (who is wonderful by the way) drive me down to Bluefield's beach. Here, I lounged the day under seagrape trees, ate local food at the vendor stands, and of course - swam in the beautiful sea! Back to the Villa for sunset and evening cocktails. I would definately come for a longer visit nex time as I learned there is an amazing bird sanctuary, waterfalls, and other activities and attractions nearby!

Great location only 8-10 minutes from restaurants and resorts. High end home in quiet private beach community. Andre's mother was a helpful resource as well as the very extensive house manual.
