Zoo
“Shaldon Zoo is not so much a zoo but a lovely small wildlife sanctuary with mainly monkeys on a hillside with decked walkways that take you up and around the enclosures. Great for younger children with one route so they can't get lost and a little booklet they can fill in with stamps to collect. It's small but well thought out and fairly priced.”

Seafood Restaurant

“The decor could be better but the food and location really couldn't; great seafood on the back beach, next door to the Ship Inn for a drink before or after your meal :-) The catch is... book in advance! Book a table as soon as you've booked your trip, although it's always worth calling them to ask if they've had cancellation, it's worked for us before!”

“A truly stunning section of this icon footpath to enjoy. Join at any number of places around the headland from Plymouth to Dartmouth. Plan your routes with the OS tourist map in the cupboard. The many 'mini headlands' of the South Hams make it easy to park and walk small circular sections. Please note that some sections are only linked by a seasonal passenger ferry. www.southwestcoastalpath.co.uk ”

“I just love having a drink on the beach with beautiful views and this pub often has live music, so even when the bands aren't exactly my cup of tea I still love the atmosphere! Also a winner with kids as it's on the beach”

“Ignore the odd location above the car park as actually once you're there you mainly see the views towards Teignmouth and the sea. Good place for lunch, good coffee and a woodburner in the winter so ideal after a walk on the Ness beach!”

“This is our real local - just a hop away from the front door. You'll love to sit outside and watch the boats in the harbour (we also have some very large ships that loom across this view which is always an intriguing things to see). In the winter they put the carpet down and have a wood-burning stove, you can see the harbour whist sipping something warming! Good standard pub fare served here.”

“The South West Coast Path was originally created by coastguards, patrolling the south west peninsula looking out for smugglers. They literally had to check in every inlet so their cliff top walk was well used and gives us the amazing Path we use today. 630 miles in total from Minehead in Somerset to Poole Harbour in Dorset.”

“ Lovely, stylish pub / restaurant with great views of the sea and Teignmouth from its position on top of the red cliff top in Shaldon. Brilliant sandwiches and lovely roasts. Lots of seating and 5 minutes walk from Ness Cove so perfect for a pre or post beach pint. ”
