  • Fabulous place to stay! I loved everything about the house. There is a train that passes by in the middle of the night so if you are a light sleeper like me, it'll wake you up. Stephanie is an amazing host and I can't say enough amazing things about her. Her communication and hospitality was above a 10!

    Jackie2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Once again, our stay was great! In town for business and this far exceed staying in a hotel. Almost feels like home with decor, and all the things you are used to. Great this time of year to be able to walk to the near-by shops, winery and restaurants.

  • Although we never met John, he was nice on the phone. The place was accurate and John was nice enough to offer an inflatable bed for our 13-year-old. The neighborhood was quiet and seemed to be safe.

Minutes from Hornbaker Gardens and many other desirable venues in the Illinois Valley. Within walking distance to the Amtrak train station, restaurants, coffee shop, bakery, pie shop, clothing boutiques, salons, and bars. Explore Princeton's other historic Main Street .9 mi South. This 800 sf space is one of two private apartments in a single story building.
This two bedroom apartment has been completely renovated so everything is new! All the conveniences of being at home, while enjoying some time away.
Great restaurants and shops near by! Many within walking distance. Princeton is unique in that its Main Street has TWO business districts! Many more great shops and restaurants if you continue South! Also, don't miss out on the Red Covered bridge, Hornbaker Gardens, The Owen Lovejoy Homestead, Psycho Silo or many other fun places around the area!
  • This is a great apartment! We looked into the nicest hotel in the area but it was booked up - glad it was! This was so much better! We were right in the little downtown area. We walked across the street to the Flour House in the mornings for coffee and bagels (cutest little coffee shop!!) and then went shopping in the shops - the Milk Mustache has the cutest baby/kids clothes! We were even able to host the family (from Princeton) to the apartment for a day and cook for them - also not possible in the hotel. Everything was clean, nicely decorated and furnished, and convenient. We will stay here again.

    Jessica2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • A very small town, but the apartment location was great! Close to great restaurants and shops. The hosts were also very accommodating and easy to work with. Our family (who stayed at the local hotels) were jealous we had such a nice place to stay at!

    Meghan2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was a great rental for my mom, sister, and I. The town of Princeton is very charming with great stores, restaurants, and parks. The apartment location was terrific, it is just across the street from a very good bakery/coffee shop where my gluten-intolerant sister was able to find daily wheat-free options. There are several really cute stores on the same block, with antiques, pottery, jewelry, and clothes and we shopped at several of them. The grocery store and walmart are both a short drive away. The apartment is less than a block from a very good diner that we ate breakfast at. The apartment is completely remodeled and very beautifully decorated. It is spacious and comfortable and very, very clean. It included everything we needed and the owners are a lovely couple who were quite responsive to the couple questions we had. On several occasions, we ended up being the host for relatives that came in from out of town to visit us and the apartment had everything we needed for that too. I’m only going to mention the train because another reviewer did and we appreciated his heads-up. We arrived very late at night to the apartment and even knowing there was a train, we all chose to forgo earplugs. The train did wake us up that night because, being from the city, we thought of train noises as rumbling, shaking sounds. This isn’t that, and none of us considered the train itself loud. The whistle surprised us though. It honked it’s horn for the couple intersections that it goes through. Our local trains don’t whistle, and they certainly don’t remind you of Thomas the train. We all found it very charming. Other than the first night, we all slept right through it, but if you are a light sleeper - consider the earplugs. My local relatives tell me that the train line isn’t only freight, there is an amtrak that can take you to and from Chicago from the Princeton station. The station is a very short walk, even if you had your bags, and even if it was after dark it would not be a problem. Something to consider for another trip. We would definitely stay at this apartment for any future visits.

  • PROS- Large, recently renovated apartment close to shopping. Parking spot right in front of apartment. Comfortable beds, nice linens and cute decorations. Laundry in apartment. Host even provided a pack n play! CONS- keypad entry not reliable, lacking some key kitchen items like a fry pan, construction dust

  • Ryan & Matt's place was great for the four of us. We were travelling with a friend that grew up in Princeton so we knew the area. The location was great, right in town and walkable to everything. The accommodations were beautiful and the renovations that Ryan and Matt did are outstanding! We loved the place and look forward to coming back!

    Shawn2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend to anyone staying in Princeton area.

    Matt2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan and Matt did an amazing job decorating this place. Great taste!! This is in such an odd location at first sight. However, it is beautifully located, safe, secure and very charming. Walk to 15 boutiques, 15 restaurants, Amtrak train station, dessert shops coffee shops etc etc. Also this town is so quaint, beautifully manicured and out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Beautiful drive to starved rock state park, fishing etc etc. Grill for BBQ was awesome. Thank you very much for hospitality.

Come stay in a relaxed setting in the luxury of a log home. Private bedrooms, bathrooms, and great room. Nearby towns are The Quad Cities, Geneseo, and Princeton. Starved Rock is also about 45 minutes away.
  • Nancy and Blue's house was so beautiful and peaceful. It had everything we needed and made out trip to the quad cities much more enjoyable! Nancy and Blue were very nice and very helpful, and cloudy the horse was a sweetheart, and loved his carrots. If we ever come back to the area, would love to stay again.

    Suzanne2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy's place was lovely. It was super clean, spacious and was very conveniently located. It also has a great shower! We just spent the night on our cross country move, but would gladly have stayed longer. Nancy and Blue (and their dogs) were great hosts and we enjoyed a morning cup of coffee with them before we headed out.

    Susanna2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place to stay and relax.

    Rose2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy's hidden treasure is awesome for a weekend getaway. Secluded enough to feel country, but close enough to town to run and grab a couple of food or forgotten items. Surrounded by a beautiful wooded area including 3 ponds to swim or fish. Sadly, it was raining our entire stay; we weren't able to partake in any outdoor activities. But, the indoor ping pong table kept us pretty busy! Do be aware, phone service is minimal and the home does not have WIFI. Totally fine with us, but maybe not for others who plan on doing work/homework using the internet or need to receive/make some calls during their stay. Although Nancy was not present, she was very responsive and helpful. Can't wait for our next trip out!

    Amanda2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful time at Nancy's beautiful log cabin. I wish we could have stayed more than a day! We had lots of space and privacy. The bed was comfy and the shower was super nice!! The best part, however, was talking with Nancy and her husband Blue -- they are very kind, wonderful people. They showed us around their property and let us meet their super sweet horse (very cool!). We were able to take our dog with us and she played with Nancy's two dogs -- they had a blast running around the big yard! The location is hard to beat, too. It's right off the highway so we were easily able to find it and it didn't add anytime to our overall travel time during our roadtrip. Book this place -- you won't regret it!!

    Kristi2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy's house was beautiful and a perfect resting place for my husband, daughter, and pets on our road trip across the country. I would love to come back and stay longer when we have more time. The property is gorgeous and we enjoyed feeding carrots to Cloudy the horse.

    Becca2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was so cozy and warm. Nancy was amazing with communication minus being there. If I'm ever driving through again I will for sure see if Nancy's cabin is available

    Shelby2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you need a perfect getaway place away from the city or just a place to relax and enjoy nature and serenity, this is the place to be! Nancy's place is so beautiful and cozy with lots of things to do! We got to play table tennis, baseball and lacrosse and even jumped on their trampoline! Our daughter and our 2 dogs had a relaxing weekend and we enjoyed meeting Mr. Cloudy and feeding him carrots. Communication was GREAT! Ms. Nancy made sure we had everything we need and made us feel at home even via messages. We will definitely be back!

  • The Blair House was a wonderful accomadtion. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the door and walked into a very homey space. There was homemade jam on the counter for breakfast in the morning and they had even stopped at a local bakery and got some muffins for the morning. I felt like there were little surprises to find throughout my stay that made it a very appealing place to come back to. The town of Toulon has a lot of history and the neighborhood was full of big old homes either remodeled or in process of being remodeled. I highly recommend taking the trip!thank yo

  • My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at Carlee's home and would recommend it to anyone coming to stay in historic Bishop Hill. Every amenity is there and nothing has escaped their attention to detail. You will feel like this is your home away from home. After coming back from a music festival in Davenport we helped ourself to the wonderful kitchen and made burgers at midnight. Try that in a hotel!!! Ron and Cathy

    Cathy2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to stay! We felt like we had stepped back in time. It was a very elegant and romantic spot to spend a night away.

    Dawnelle2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Somehow the place had unpleasant smell (synthetic chemical smell from detergent?) Compared to the previous stay. It could be GMO corn field in the heated temparature around the village.

    Akino2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Carlee's place is absolutely gorgeous. It feels just like home, with so many amenities including a vinyl collector and record player, a PlayStation and some old games, basic groceries, and lots of clean towels, sheets, and blankets. Additionally, Bishop Hill is such a sweet, interesting town to explore. We particularly liked the Patty Melt at the Filling Station! If you're looking for a relaxing and welcoming place to stay, look no further.

Come relax and enjoy the charm of rural Midwest living!
The home was built in 1906 and was the previous site of a dairy farm. Upstairs we have three guest bedrooms--one with a queen-sized bed and a futon, another with a twin bed, and another with bunk beds. On the ground level we have a sleeper sofa. We also have an air mattress and various sleeping mats available and can host almost any day/time. There are full bathrooms on both levels and a 3/4 bath in the massage studio. Stephanie's massage business, Hand Taylored Massage, is located on-site and all massage services are available to guests for a fee. Also on-site is a recording studio and performance space. We regularly host concerts at our home.
Cambridge is a quiet, rural village located about 5 miles from I-74 and 10 miles from I-80. Just a few miles up the road is Bishop Hill, which is a great place to visit for lunch (or breakfast on weekends) and do some sightseeing, especially if you are interested in Swedish history.
  • We stayed at Johns place at thanksgiving evening. It was so nice he let us stay and come in pretty late. Although the stay was short, we felt welcome. The house is beautiful and the bedroom was nice and warm. John, his wife and the kids were great people to meet. We would request a stay again if we had to.

    Daphne2015-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • John and his family are great people, gracious and welcoming. The event hosted at their home was wonderful. Their house is the a-typical old farm house with the inlaid, ornate details. Simply beautiful. You felt like family with them.

    Chris2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • John and his wife are delightful people. The kind of people who make me very glad I met them. Their home is lovely, their life is fascinating and my room was perfect. Clean and comfortable. Very easy access from the interstate and very clear communication from John in the lead up to my visit. It was my first AirBnB stay and has set a VERY high bar.

    James2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Super easy to communicate with. The house is pretty secluded, but it's charming and huge. John himself is what sets this place apart. He offered and fixed a problem I had with my car and was up early in the morning when we left to offer us coffee. If you're passing through I-80 on a long drive this is the place to go!

    Jacob2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house and room. Special place hosted by special people.

    Tom & Colleen2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Johns home was just that, a HOME! If you're looking for a hotel like experience, this isn't for you.. but you will be missing out on a warm, eccentric and cozy place to stay! The house is beautiful! We were rested by John and his adorable kids on their huge porch and shown to our room which was perfectly tucked away down a hallway and right across from the large bathroom. Had we stayed longer we would have taken advantage of the huge tub! The room was perfect, the bed was extremely comfortable and the bookshelf was FULL of really amazing reads. I 100% recommend this place!!!!

    Kelly2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • One could not ask for better hosts than John and Stephanie! They both were easy to talk to and gave us our space. Beautiful spot in the country and an awesome front porch if you wish to sit and drink coffee. Wish I had done that but had no time. Very quiet spot close to bishop Hill which is a cool historical spot. My wife enjoyed an awesome massage provided by Stephanie's massage service. The only thing that would be nice is locks on the doors. The door knobs are old and hard to convert I imagine. Beautiful character in this old house. It also should be noted [did not inconvenience us] that the bathroom is shared with the children. Overall, enjoyed our stay and definitely the price is very fair. Cannot speak highly enough of the hosts. Thanks again! Gary and Deborah.

We want to go old fashion with our hosting. From our best-in-class beds to candy, snacks, and drinks, we think old fashion should be the new fashion; at least around here. We go out of our way to provide little extras that will take your trip the extra mile. Do you long for those old time relaxing days when all your cares where gone? We do our absolute best to make sure your stay is picture perfect, and that it is something the family will remember for years to come.
Show the kids you still have your game with our ping pong table! Use our fully equipped kitchen to bake some of Grandma's famous foods while Grandpa runs off some of the grandkid's energy in our huge yard. Don't worry about all those grass stains Mom. Just use our laundry room when they go down for a nap and run a couple loads. We got your back! Dad can kick back and watch the game in the big recliner or throw his fishing rod in the IL River about 3 minutes away. When you're done, make sure to lay down for a nap on one of the two couches. Kids will enjoy our selection of toys and apps on our Roku. Does grandma need some extra help getting around? While our house isn't officially handicap accessible, we are only one step off the ground. Our oversized bathroom is easily accessed across the hall from our master bedroom. The entire house is on one level. We look forward to working together with you to make those memories that will last a lifetime! Our space is a single level. We are not considered wheelchair accessible. However, we only have 1 step to get to the house, and we have a large restroom and bedroom that would accommodate that. Beds are brand new and purchased on April 28th, 2017 for this property. Couches, chairs, and dining room table are all new and purchased on May 3rd. This space is fully furnished. The house is wired with its own cable and internet service, so both are highly reliable and really fast. We didn't get the cheapest service in town, and it shows! Each of the three bedrooms has a garbage can, ottoman to sit or open your luggage on, 2 end tables with lamps with outlets. Each bed has a heavy metal frame, a 9-inch box spring, and a 12-inch premium memory foam mattress. 2 pillows per bed are provided. Beds were purchased brand new the end of April 2017. Let's just say my wife was asking me why I bought such nice beds and I had to tell her that I was wanting to make sure our guests had a good stay! The kitchen has silverware, cups, plates, coffee cups, coffee maker & accessories to make coffee, tea bags, sugar, cinnamon and meat spices, sauce pan, skillet, pitchers, serving spoons and cooking utensils. The kitchen has a microwave, coffee maker, stove, fridge and dishwasher that you are welcome to use. The kitchen is fairly large and has an island with 2 stools and tons of counter space. The living room has 2 leather couches that hold three people each, and a "papa" reclining chair. This is where the 42" flat screen HD TV is located with cable. Furniture was purchased brand new in May of 2017. The dinning room has a table that can sit 6 adults comfortably. The table has 4 leather chairs and a bench. The bench allows a seating capacity greater than 6 if you have children. The bathroom was newly remodeled in April of 2015. It was a complete gut and redo. It has a double vanity with plenty of space. A mirror and hair dryer are there for your use. The bath tub/shower combo has a fancy shower head I'm sure you will enjoy. We provide a basket of goodies for your use also. Full towels, wash clothes and hand towels are provided for your use.

  • I really like that this place is in Henry, IL.! I have family there and it's great to be able to be close by. It's also close enough to Peoria, Chillicothe, Peru, Princeton and anywhere in-between. I do not consider this a 5 star accommodation but working with David & Tiffany made it 5 stars. They are great to work with. All the furniture in the house is less then 6 months old (as of August 2017). The 3 bedrooms all have new mattresses. I think the house might be a "work in progress", as it could use a little work. The kitchen/dining area is spacious with full size appliances. Eight adults stayed in this house with no problems, even though there is only 1 bathroom, which is very nicely remodeled. Waiting for us on check-in were donuts, orange juice, milk, bottled water, candy, and extra "supplies" in the bathroom, as well as coffee, sugar, and flavored coffee creamer. The bathroom had plenty of towels. There is a game room, and though the corner of the ping pong table was broken off, (another reviewer mentioned it) it didn't affect the play at all - we weren't there to play ping pong anyway. That room could easily hold some blow-up air mattresses, if you are needing more room. All in all, we would stay there again! Thank you again David and Tiffany!

  • This place was perfect. We had everything we needed and there was plenty of space in the home. The host met us with OJ, milk and donuts! Awesome host, awesome home.

  • The house was fully stocked with everything we might need and the beds were super comfy.

  • David & Tiffany as hosts get 5 stars! They went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed and had great communication! Their place was thoughtful with doughnuts and milk waiting for us when we arrived and extra phone chargers throughout the house. The beds were really comfortable and the bathroom/living room were nice! This place is great for the price. Some things are a little unfinished and old and the house has a faint old scent but overall it was a great place to stay!

    Cam2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The home was great for us during our trip to Illinois for a wedding. We liked that David & Tiffany had drinks available to us, information on things to do in town, and everything was clearly labeled. There were phone chargers, candy, and bottled water in every room. David & Tiffany were extremely responsive, and they even brought us donuts on our first night! Our daughter enjoyed the toys at the house and we enjoyed using the Roku. Great hosts!

  • David and Tiffany's house was very cozy. I can't wait to go back!

  • This is our 1st time ever doing anything like this and i couldn't of asked for a better host. Let Start Of About how we walked into the house and it was just a breath of fresh air.. Every room set with complimentary baskets filled with goodies and speaking of goodies I love that they had a fresh box of donuts there had waiting for us. I can go on and on from the toys for the kids to the ftee Netflix but i dont want to ruin your surprises. I just want to thank them for such a great time not only we're they great host they are even better friends. Thank Yo(URL HIDDEN)Riq & Key Key

  • David and Tiffany were wonderful hosts who were always available to chat and answer questions. The house is roomy, with three full freshly furnished bedrooms and two comfortable couches. The washroom was one of our favorite features, it is bright, large and clean, and looks newly renovated. The kitchen fit and finish is definitely on the quirky side, but it is spacious and well stocked with everything you need. The 24/7 general store down the road was great, other local restaurants tended to close fairly early. We would definitely stay again!

  • Out in the country yet close to the beautiful parks. Barbara was very accommodating with our earlier check in request and suggestions for any of our interests. Our room was bright, clean and comfortable with air conditioning and a ceiling fan. We enjoyed a picnic dinner on the deck overlooking their very private, wooded lot with a creek running along the edge. We didn't get a chance to meet Bob but Barbara is a very attentive, warm and wonderful host making sure that we had all that we needed right down to the bug spray! She greeted us in the morning with fresh coffee, fruit and breakfast. I'm so glad that we took the time to get to know this lovely hostess and truly hope to visit again some day!

  • Barbara and Robert were one of the best hosts I've ever had the pleasure of staying with. They were friendly, generous, informative, outgoing, accommodating and fun. Everything was clean and neat. They communicated with the boyfriend and I about the other guests that were coming to stay (in a separate room that you can also book & stay) prior to them arriving. They offered us delicious breakfast every morning, gave us useful information and tips for around the area and always made sure we were happy and comfortable. We were close to Starved Rock (about a 20-25 min simple drive) as well as Princeton (15 min drive). Thank you both for opening your home to us!

    Christina2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara and Bob were awesome! We went there for a quick getaway to be close to Starved Rock. Bob greeted us immediately and served us coffee. Barbara and Bob shared many good stories with us that evening. They were very welcoming to our boxer, Apollo, which was great! Our room was lovely, and Barbara cooked us breakfast this morning before we left. And Bob even called us up when we forgot something and held it for us until we came back. These are lovely hosts!! Highly recommended!

  • Highly recommend this home in the middle of corn fields near the Illinois River and adjacent to some lovely state parks. Barbara and Robert go out of their way to make guests feel at home. I travel a lot w AIRBNB and have rarely had such a delicious breakfast prepared for me. Being of Polish ancestry I felt that I was visiting one of my aunts who always prepared wonderful 'goodies' for out family. Thank you so much Barbara and Robert for a wonderful stay.

  • Such kind and generous hosts! They were incredibly nice and so easy to talk to. They had great stories to tell and the conversation was never dull. We learned some interesting facts! They also were great about our two crazy puppies which was so relieving because we don't like to go anywhere without them. It was nice that they not only welcomed them but they both love dogs and have had dogs. They had a beautiful fenced in front yard that let our dogs wander and play. We really appreciated everything they did and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for someplace to stay near starved rock. Thank you!

  • Dan responded very promptly to all our questions before and during our stay at their histrionic house. We have a three generation family and friends get together. There were 14 of us. The dining table with comfortable sitting for 16 was exactly what we needed for conversations, playing board games and trivia. The kitchen was well stock with cups, glasses, plates, and serving platters. We had great fun playing ping pong in the game room. There was a long bench where the rest of the families could sit and watched. There were plenty of beds, pillows, towels and blankets for all of us. There were also several great grocery stores close by. We made use of the outdoor grill and enjoyed hiking at the nearby Starved Rock state park.

  • The Starved Rock Estate was an excellent choice for a weekend getaway for our extended family. The home was very comfortable. The hosts went above & beyond to ensure that our weekend was as enjoyable as it could be. The historic element made the fun experience very educational & informative for all age groups in the family. We highly recommend this place for those looking to combine our relaxing, fun, and informative time for a family or a group of friends.

  • I can't say enough wonderful things about this home AND the hosts. Not only is the house beautiful, but it is very well kept, stocked with anything that you could need, and the large yard and pool are a huge plus! Dan and Candis made us feel right at home offering suggestions to local restaurants and places to see- it's clear that they care about their guests and who is staying at their home. We were a 10-minute drive away from beautiful hiking and trails, I couldn't believe we were in Illinois! I would very much recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!

It was only an issue in the morning when we were all trying to get out the door at the same time. But not a big deal. Only 15 mins to Starved Rock. Good location.

She had everything you may need or forget while you travel, included cards, games, and condiments and had cute notes around the living space. All in all, would recommend to others!

They even took an additional step by leaving chocolate and champagne in the refrigerator for us since it was our anniversary and we were going to hike at Starved Rock to celebrate. They made our 1st year anniversary an outstanding experience!

  • We loved this loft. When visiting central Illionois, good hotels are hard to come by and camping isn't always my thing, especially in winter months. This place allowed us to explore the local rivers and parks, hike for miles, but come home to a hip, modern comfortable place. Win Win--Loved IT!!

  • Beautiful. Modern. Very large space. We are from DC and stayed here while visiting family in Ottawa and Varna. We were pleasantly surprised to find something so nicely updated, with so much space. With 4 adults and three kids under 4, it was a perfect space for us. The kitchen is great. The laundry facilities were a plus. And the shower in the large bathroom was incredible. Definitely worth the money - a steal compared to what you would get for two hotel rooms!

  • We had a great time. The space was very clean, spacious, well decorated, and comfortable. The location is extremely convenient for walking down to the brewery, shops, and restaurants. Loved it!

  • We had a wonderful stay! They even left us fresh banana bread for the morning! Ideal location for antiquing, dining, a stroll along the Mississippi. Very clean and spacious apartment. A lovely getaway and we can't wait to go back!

    Ann2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had the best time! This was a perfect midway point between friends from Chicago and Des Moines. The fact that this place is right in the middle of everything in LeClaire made this such a convenient home base for our explorations. From the moment we were greeted by the lovely staff of the winery to the time we got back into our cars to drive home we were treated with kindness and warmth. And Cecilia was wonderful with responding to my questions up to our visit. The apartment was perfect, bigger than it appeared in the pictures and all of the personal touches made it a place that we will visit for all of our reunions. Thank you so much for a lovely experience! Can't wait to come back!

  • Wonderful hostess. Felt right at home. Top notch.

    Derek2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and clean place. The location is great if you are visiting Le Claire as this is right in the middle of all the shops. We had 3 people stay here and the hide-a-bed in the couch is very comfortable (first one we ever found that was). We frequently visit Le Claire to visit family and will stay here rather than a hotel.

    Mark2014-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay on the Mississippi. Cecilia's place was warm and well equipped for a long or short trip. Enjoyed the simplicity of the interaction.

    Gabe2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Cecilia's place was FANTASTIC! She made our first Airbnb experience great! Very quick to respond to any questions we had! The place is even better in person! Very cozy with a great view. Wide river inn is walking distance to many great shops and restaurants! The girls at the winery were so nice and helpful when we did our wine tasting...the wines were very good! If we are in the area again this will be a top pick!!

  • This is a wonderful place in the heart of LeClare. Great restaurants and things to do all in a short walk. It's absolutely wonderful sitting around the firepit watching main street traffic and people. This is a wonderful place.

    Jay2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The loft was the perfect place for our friends weekend get away. We loved the fire pit area and then we enjoyed sitting under the porch when the rain moved in. The location is great, right in the middle of everything! We had a lovely time together but appreciated having separate areas when we retired for the evening. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Historic Leclaire, Iowa is full of quaint shops, antiques, and variety of restaurants. Walking distance (only 175 steps to the Green Tree Brewery), Mississippi River Distillery, Wide River Winery, and the History Channel's ..the American Pickers.
Situated on the Mighty Mississippi, the Old Mill Guest House (the lower level of the building), contains all the historic charm of the town it resides in. Our "cabin-like" rental, although a two bedroom, is 600 sq. ft. - so with four adults it IS cozy. (We've had as many as 6 stay, but we would not recommend that many.) With two couples, I would make sure you like the other couple, in fact, it can actually add to the charm! Each bedroom has a locking door as well as the bathroom, but it is not a spacious home! A massage therapist and Chiropractor are available during the day on the main floor. Appointments may be necessary, but Dawn and Dr. Chrystal would be happy to schedule your session.
For historians, this is the place to be. Originally built in 1851 along with the lumber mill next door and was used to board the mill workers. In 1862, the mill and house was purchased by John Wesley Vansant and family and was his residence until his death in 1902.
  • This place was great! It was well appointed with everything we needed. Complimentary microwave popcorn hit the spot the first night we arrived. ;) We really loved the patio space and the view of the river! It was so relaxing! Couldn't hardly get our teenager out of that comfy hammock chair. :) Within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Very convenient! Plus easy parking out front. This was our first AirBnB experience and it was great!! Thanks, John and Deb

    Annette2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great experience at this historic property. The location is very close to all the shopping and restaurants in LeClaire, but also right on the river with a beautiful view of the Mississippi. John and Deb have done an excellent job restoring and decorating the space with so much character, but it is also very comfortable. They also made the process very easy. The train whistles at night were loud, but it was worth it to us to have such a great view of the river, and be at a location with so much character that is so close to the shops and restaurants.

    Kelly2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • John and Deb were so accommodating! The home was absolutely beautiful in the heart of the downtown area with breathtaking views of the river! We can't wait to go back! Thanks again! Heidi and Cory

  • This place was a beautiful, cozy place to stay. It's a quick walk downtown and very close to a local brewery which was a lot of fun. I would definitely stay here again.

    Kristin2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place. Loved the view of the river from the patio and deck.

    Susan2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place is adorable and walking distance to all the fun! So beautifully decorated and full of history- we absolutely loved it!!

    Catrina 2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in Le Claire and the lovely, historic rental added to the overall experience. It was comfortable, had a beautiful view of the Mississippi River, and was within walking distance of every place we wanted to visit while there. The only thing we would have changed was the proximity to the train. It was quite loud when it blew its whistle. It did wake us up a few times but the trains were very short and not too much of an issue. I would definitely recommend this cute little place to my friends.

    Summer2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place worked well for our first trip to Le Claire. There were 4 of us (my husband & I and 2 older sons) and there was just enough room. The location could not be more prefect. Right near the action and the river, but very quite and private also. My husband was able to last minute book a massage with the MT upstairs. He said she did a great job. Something to consider ahead of time if you are interested. We'd recommend the distillery bar and the German restaurant Bierstube Bar and Grill. Le Claire needs a morning breakfast and coffee spot besides McDonalds. So consider making your own breakfast with the microwave and coffee pot provided.

  • Pictures don't tell the whole story, this place is AWESOME! What a wonderful and relaxing cottage with a fantastic view. Highly recommended for a weekend getaway. First time air bnb and I can say I won't be going back to hotels anytime soon. Kathryn was the best.

  • Absolutely perfect! A+ all the way. Location is minutes from town. Great view and accessibility. Fireplace, cozy seating and decor made me want to live there. Thanks for an amazing one day!

  • Kathryn is indeed a super host. The amenities were perfect, including a spectacular view of the Mississippi from the screened in porch of the charming cottage, the beautiful deck, or almost any room in the house. The fire pit was perfect for toasting marshmallows and keeping warm on a cool summer night. The cottage is very cosy with lovely decor, comfortable furniture and beds. It was inviting and we felt special when we saw a welcome basket had been left for our family! We highly recommend the 1910 cottage!

  • What a great place for a relaxing weekend! We spent hours in the Adirondack chairs on the deck watching the river. It was close to the grocery store, shops, and restaurants. There was plenty of room and bathrooms for four adults and a baby. Definitely plan on staying here again! Thank you Katie!

    Amber2015-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 4 had a great stay at the Cottage. So nicely decorated and appointed and really felt like a getaway for us. It is homey and warm with all of the modern conveniences you'd hope for. Katie made us feel extremely welcome, and there's a good chance we'll return and send others her way. LeClaire keeps getting better as well, with a new brewery opening in August 2015.

    Jeremy2015-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable and charming! Perfect place to relax and unwind but still enjoy the darling town of LeClaire. Katie's communication was very helpful and her home was as welcoming as an old friend. Close enough to walk into town yet set in a private setting. The deck with fire pit is where we spent our evenings. We'll definitely return.

  • It was a pleasure staying with Kimberly and Steve! They are such kind individuals who make you feel right at home. My fiance and I spent the night there after a concert at the Peoria Civic Center, and it was a great time. We were about a 15 minute drive to the venue and they gave us some great recommendations for food and sight seeing around Peoria Heights. Their house was beautiful, clean, and tucked away in a quiet wooded area. Very peaceful out there. Cannot thank them enough for their hospitality!

This is such a peaceful wooded setting close to nature in a beautifully decorated home that offers privacy yet is warm and welcoming. It is so serene and quiet - a real retreat spot. Steve and Kimberly went out of their way to make our stay special, offer hiking tips, breakfast and paying attention to the smallest details. I would stay here again if I am ever in the area.

There were a few toiletries and bottled water within the room & Isaiah shared morning breakfast with us! Staying with Isaiah helped to break up a long road trip for us and we felt so fortunate to have found such a great spot in Illinois! Thank you so much Isaiah!!

  • Isaiah was great. I needed a room at the last minute and he was very quick in responding. The room was exactly as advertised, and Isaiah kept me up to date regarding his availability and what I needed to know upon my arrival. He also had good suggestions for places to eat that were close. I was wiped out when I arrived, and the comfortable bed allowed me to get some much needed rest. The next morning we had a good conversation about vacations, and travel before it was time for me to head out the door. If I am in the area again, I will definitely try to stay here.

Spacious and open which makes it perfect for hosting an event. Upstairs, two of the three bedrooms have had top to bottom make overs. (the 3rd will be finished soon) New carpet, paint, mattresses, bedding, linens, etcetera. It's a top priority of mine that my guests have bedrooms with beds so comfortable they don't want to get up in the morning! A piano is in the home as well as games, cards, puzzles, videos and books. Grandmas house is homey, comfortable and peaceful. What makes Grandmas even more special is the location. Ten minute walk south and your downtown at the riverfront where there are excellent restaurants and pubs or ten minute walk north and you're on the Lowell Parkway Path. The path is beautiful and you can walk all the way to Lowell Park or veer off and take another path down to the meadows and the river. Three to five miles of paths. Great for biking and hiking. Grandma's house is within three blocks of a grocery store, city park, pharmacy, dollar store, gas station and the YMCA. It's central to just about everything in town.
The house is located in a quiet, friendly, residential neighborhood within walking distance to downtown restaurants, bars as well as the riverfront. Within three blocks of a grocery store, drug store, city park and a short walk to Dixons bike and hiking path which leads to beautiful Lowell Park.
  • My mom and I stayed at Judith's place while we were in town for a race I was running. Everything from the booking, to the communication leading up to check-in, to our stay over the weekend went very well. Judith gave us lots of recommendations for things to do in town and restaurants to check out. The house was exactly as described and there were many thoughtful touches that made us feel extra comfortable. The space would be great for a bigger group, and my mom and I had lots of room to spread out and relax. I would definitely recommend staying with this host!

  • Grandma's house was close to everything in Dixon. The living space is large. The front porch was a favorite place for visiting & drinking coffee in the morning. Everything was clean. We were most impressed that the owner provided fresh fruit, bagels, bottled water, milk, coffee, etc. upon our arrival. It was such a nice treat to have everything we needed when we woke up from arriving late Friday night. Our kids especially enjoyed "Alexa" to play music & learn cool trivia. There were several air mattresses available & pull out couches for additional sleeping accommodations. We would most certainly rent here again when visiting our extended family in Dixon. It beats multiple hotel rooms for sure!

    Alissa2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The 1979 DHS Regional Volleyball Champs were reunited for a weekend of laughter and renewed friendships. Grandma's House was the perfect spot for us to eat, drink, reminisce about high school, rest, and experience the joy of reconnecting with lifelong teammates. Host Judi is exceptional. The house is well-stocked and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

    Susan2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The nicest b&b I've ever stayed at. A beautiful home and an all around good experience.

    Haley2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Judith's home is incredibly comfortable, spacious, and lovely. The decor is charming, without being overwhelming. She was well prepared for our family, and had an ample selection of fruit, coffee, cocoa, and bagels. Although the street is busy, there was no road noise in the house. The kids had fun with "Alexa", and all of the smart TVs, WiFi, etc were nice to have available. There is only one shower/bath, but there surprisingly wasn't a hot water issue! So for larger groups, be prepared to make up a bath schedule. The closets are huge, and we were able to fit a crib or pack n play in each one! The house is conveniently close to a couple of parks, shopping and restaurants. Judith is sweet and amazing to work with! We all said we would rent her place again!

    Nicole2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Don't judge a book by the cover. The outside of the house could use some work, but the inside is incredibly warm, cozy, and comfortable. Grandma's House really is like being at grandma's! The beds were warm and comfortable, the gathering spaces were clean and roomy. Judi was very easy to get a hold of, but wasn't intrusive. The fridge was even stocked with a few goodies for us to enjoy! We had a wonderful girl's weekend and would absolutely stay at Grandma's House again.

3 bedroom ranch home that is very family friendly! Three bedrooms on the main level (two with queen beds and one kids room with crib and toddler bed). Full basement downstairs with two twin beds and side laundry room that doubles as a bedroom with a queen bed if needed. Located in a quiet neighborhood with mature trees. Very safe area in Dunlap that has sidewalks to walk or run. Close to Peoria for events!
The three bedrooms are all on the main floor. The basement has a daybed, twin trundle, queen bed, and couch. The main floor and basement have living rooms. Plenty of space to relax!
  • The neighborhood is quiet and charming. The house is cozy and romantic.
