Snowdon Holiday Rentals

Just booked in Snowdon

Beautiful cottage in the Llanberis pass, occupying a stunning spot on Snowdon itself. Bordered by a stream and river; access across a private wooden bridge. Dog-friendly. Incredible views and straight up onto the mountain for walkers and climbers.
Delightful mountain cottage with direct routes up to peak of Snowdon, Crib Goch, the Glyders and Tryfan. Wake up each day to enjoy the fascinating and ever changing landscape, enjoying that first coffee/tea overlooking a mountain stream. We keep free range rescue chickens, so there is a steady supply of eggs for you to purchase at low cost if you want fresh eggs for breakfast.
Your local pub is the Vaynol Arms in Nant Peris and serves real ale; a friendly climbers/walkers pub. It's around 15 minutes walk away and the lanes can be pitch black at night, so bring a torch :) A short drive further up the Llanberis Pass is the Pen y Gwryd hotel, where Hillary and Tenzing trained for the first successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953. The bar is open to all, and is famous for its photos of mountaineers who have trained on Snowdon for Everest. Zip World is a short distance away (12 miles to ZW Velocity in Bethesda and 23 miles to ZW Titan in Blaenau Ffestiniog) Plas y Brenin National Mountain Centre is up the pass, 7 miles from the cottage. Also nearby are GreenWood Forest Park (Alton Towers for little people!) The Llanberis Railway takes you to the mountain summit, the station is just 2 miles down the road. And also based at Llanberis is Electric Mountain, the hydro-electric power station and visitor centre.
  • Awesome location, warm welcome and friendly chickens! Homemade Welsh cakes were an unexpected treat. Chris's local knowledge was a great help planning our hike on Snowdon. Watkins trail is highly recommended. Cottage was cosy and comfortable with everything you could need and good wifi! Windswept sheep pass by the Windows every so often, adding to the atmosphere. Lisa and Chris are lovely, relaxed hosts. We'd love to have stayed longer.

  • Amazing secluded cottage with gorgeous scenery. Perfect for exploring Snowdon and Llanberis. Lisa and Chris were perfect hosts and left us to our privacy but were happy to provide great recommendations for walks and travel advice. The fresh eggs from the rescue hens made a great breakfast and we loved the star gazing on the boulder and watching the wild goats up on the hills.

  • Our stay was brilliant! The cottage was much more than we hoped for, very welcoming and warm. We will be staying again if we are in the area.

  • The location of TY Maen is absolutely perfect. You step outside the front door into rural, wild Snowdonia. Feels like you have the mountain to yourself. We took the kids out for a walk every night before bed time to the mountain river (or stream) They loved it and fell into bed exhausted every night! You can stay here, as long as you have enough supplies, and just venture out your front door every day and not use the car! A lovely family weekend treat.

  • Excellent AirB&B cottage with lovely personal touches to make you feel welcomed. Well stocked cupboards and lots of teas and coffees. Very freiendly host and the cottage is in a great location 10 minutes from the Snowdon carpark and a short walk to a good pub. I would definitely recommend this stay!

  • Lisa made us feel very welcome at her lovely cottage. Her property is located at an absolutely ideal location for anyone who would like to enjoy the beautiful scenery of snowdonia, get outdoors for a refreshing walk or hike, and have easy access to the town of llanberis and a cozy pub a short walk away. We had a great weekend of laid back fun and enjoyed the privacy and seclusion of this beautiful cottage. Did I mention the scenery was gorgeous? Highly recommended! The place was precisely as described and Lisa was friendly as can be!

Celyn is a detached 17th century longhouse at the foot of Mt Snowdon. The house has been lovingly renovated to provide a comfortable home from home. The cottage is situated in a raised location that enjoys stunning views of the Snowdon mountain range, and is just steps away from the Watkin Path up Mt. Snowdon. This is one of the best locations in Snowdonia and boasts boundless opportunities for activities in the mountains, visiting castles or sandy beaches, or to simply relax and unwind.
The cottage oozes character with a "tunnel" at the side of the fireplace between the kitchen/diner and the sitting room. It has a heated boot room and separate laundry facilities. The garden is about an acre in size with several lawns and a nice sitting area on a level with the cottage, with lovely views to enjoy a barbeque or drink after a super day out - or why not enjoy a candlelit supper in the well-equipped kitchen/diner. There are plenty of books, DVDs, CDs and games suitable for all ages in the cottage should you wish to enjoy time "at base".
The setting of the cottage is stunning and unique, looking out directly at the South Ridge of Mt Snowdon and very close to the start of the famous Watkin Path to the summit. At a lower level there are several waterfalls to look out at opposite the cottage. Celyn is situated mid-way between two lakes, both within walking distance and it is possible to hire canoes on one of them (to the right out of the driveway) and there is also a beach on this lake where you can enjoy a picnic and a swim. It is also possible to swim in the river at the foot of the driveway and to fish in the river and lake with the appropriate fishing licence - ask at the Post Office in Beddgelert. Loads to do slightly further afield with many very large sandy beaches, castles, mines, steam railways, woollen mills and craft centres etc etc. There is a copper mine just two miles up the road which is good on a wet day! There is a rack with tourist information in the cottage. The National Mountain Sports Centre, Plas Y Brenin, is just up the road at Capul Curig where short courses and lessons can be booked in many outdoor skills. There are loads of very good cafes and restaurants and pubs in area. We would recommend the cafe at the foot of the Watkin Path with delicious home made snacks and meals, the real ale pub at Rhyd-Ddu (TheCwyllyn Arms) - again very good food - and Pen Y Gwyrd Hotel at the top of the hill from the cottage towards Capul Curig that has lots of memorabila from the original Everest exhibition who used the hotel as their training base,
  • Great cosy place to stay if you plan n walking up snowden

  • Absolutely fantastic location for exploring Snowdnia!! Love the fact we could just set off from the front door and climb Snowdon and then return to warm and inviting fire evening. We would definitely recommend.

  • Great cottage for the family! The real fireplace was excellent with packs of wood, firelighters. The lavender smell of pillows was so tranquil, I've had a good sleep! Sunny, the caretaker was also great, she even gave us welsh cake and milk which is so sweet of her.

    Annabelle2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful 17th century cottage at the base of Snowdon. We stayed here for my wife's birthday. She loved it! Went hiking in the days and relaxed in front of the log burning stove in the evenings....perfect! Handy shop and lovely pubs 3 miles away in the village of Bedd Gelert. Definitely recommend to anyone wanted a rural retreat right in the middle of Snowdonia National Park.

Beautiful bijou bedroom in a converted attic room in a traditional Welsh cottage. Located between two lakes, in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia), within easy walking distance of the Watkin path up Snowdon. Plenty of room for active adventurers!
Bryn Aber is located on the edge of a woodland, with an award winning wildlife garden in a small hamlet three miles from all amenities in Beddgelert. Contemporary room with fresh shabby chic decor, and airy velux windows looking across to mature woodland and mountain views. Exclusive use of recently fitted modern wetroom.
There is easy access to a range of mountains, including Snowdon via the Watkin path or south ridge. Many delightful valley walks are available to explore directly from our door. Access to the lakes (Llyn Gwynant and Llyn Dinas) and the river Afon Glaslyn is easy by either foot, canoe or kayak. Nantgwynant also hosts a delightful community cafe (Caffi Gwynant) open all week 9.00 to 5.00 pm (except Mondays and Tuesdays).
  • Liam and Debs were wonderful hosts to us. They had plenty of good advice and were incredibly helpful, even taking us to wherever we needed to go and packing us lunch for our Snowdon ascent, which was truly epic. They are true nature lovers, the kind of people I look up to. Hope to see you again someday!

    Charles2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is just as described in perfect location with plenty of walks right on the doorstep. No need to drive anywhere for day trips or daytime meals which is exactly what we wanted for our 3 days in Snowdonia. We loved the cozy room with a very comfy bed. There is a kettle and tea or coffee provided too. However, be warned that the ceiling is quite low if you are rather tall! :) The bathroom is new and very clean. Liam and his wife Debs are such a lovely, genuine, friendly couple! They provided us with lots of advice on where to go for walks, they had a map that we could borrow - we didn't need to make any plans prior to our arrival which was really helpful, given our hectic lifestyles. They know the area really well so, all you need to do is just let them know what kind of walk/hike you would like to go on and they will come up with plenty of suggestions for you. They even recommended a great local cafe for our lunches and restaurants for dinners. Breakfast was great! Liam is more than happy to cook his 'famous' porridge with peanut butter and honey for you - make sure to try it! But if you're not a porridge person, he prepares a lovely spread with bread, croissants, cereals, fruit, jams and marmite for you :) All in all, a great Airbnb experience. Highly recommended! Worth noting that all the money Liam gets from Airbnb goes towards a Nepal post-earthquake charity!

    Michaela2015-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely recommend staying with Liam and Deb!!! As hosts, because they were the most brilliant you could ever imagine! Dogs included! They were welcoming, friendly and made us feel at home. They gave us lots of advice around Beddgelert and Snowdonia, including a van-tour around town and surroundings with where to eat recommendations. Liam prepared a special delicious breakfast for us so that we didn't have to eat lunch at least. Furthermore, during the time we spent with them, they told us great stories and they are the kind of interesting people you can talk to about anything, because you will always learn something! Also, and above all, we did not know that all the money they raise goes to Nepal's earthquake victims, which makes it even better! The house is fantastic and the room was exactly like in the picture, decorated with attention to details, and a great book selection to enjoy if you have time. The views from the window on the left hand side are breathtaking when you wake up in the morning. There is a kettle if you feel up for a tea or coffee. The toilet was perfectly clean and prepared with towels and shampoo. The room and the toilet are apart from the rest of the living areas so you have privacy and your own entrance from outside the house shall you need it. We could only stay for one night and it was a pity, but after our experience we have no doubt we will come back!

    Rocío2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We have been very pleased to meet Liam and Debs. Liam has been very responsive and we had a chat before coming so that he could give us all the details to get to their place. The place is very well located for snowdon climbers. The room is cosy and has a view on the mountain. We can tell that Liam and Debs are nature lovers just like us. We had a good breakfast and good chat in the morning about our adventures. We have been given some good advice about the region and how to get around to finish our little road trip.

    Charles-Edmond2015-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic experience from start to finish. As soon as the listing was confirmed by Liam he was in regular contact which put me at ease as this was my first time using Airbnb. He gave me detailed directions and good advice on travel down. As soon as i got to the house i was met with a warm welcome from both Liam and Debs. The room along with the rest of the Cottage was amazing. The views as described were breathtaking. After settling down and chatting about the area, we headed down the road for a drink of the local beer at the Pen y Gwryd Hotel. Where Liam explained the history of the place. The next morning i was up early as i was heading off to climb Snowdon, Liam put on a lovely breakfast and gave me some final words of wisdom, very gratefully received as i was a first time climber. If you're planning on going to the area i would highly recommend staying here and meeting this lovely couple and gaining some valuable knowledge from them both. The property is stunning and both Liam and Deb's will definitely be added to the Christmas card list. I really enjoyed the stay and their company. A fantastic experience, thank you very much.

    Ryan2015-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay in Liam and Debs' beautiful cottage. The room is homely and comfortable - although the steep steps up to the room felt a bit cruel after our adventure up Snowdon! The wet room was great, and both the bedroom and wet room were in a private space. Everything had been thought of - including towels and tea-making facilities in the room. The breakfast was amazing! We obviously didn't read enough reviews to realise that the offer of porridge is one that you don't turn down (we did, and we're a bit sad about that), but there was fresh bread, loads of choices for spreads (including home made lemon curd), fruit and yoghurt. Liam and Debs were great hosts and made us feel at home and at ease immediately. It was great to hear the stories of all their outdoor adventures. Again, not enough homework on our part meant that we weren't aware that Liam and Debs are running this venture for charity. Yet another plus point for these two! Along with a lovely room and great breakfast, Liam was on hand to offer advice on what routes to have a go at - we were really lucky with the weather and had an amazing walk up the Watkin path and down the south ridge. We were reluctant to leave from our brief weekend stay, but we'd recommend this great place and these wonderful people to stay with.

    Ruth2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • A most incredible stay! This was such a perfect base for exploring snowdonia, particularly aided by the wealth of local knowledge of trails provided by our wonderful hosts. We were offered everything we could possibly need and felt truly at home in our little loft.

  • Amazing first experience using Airbnb. Great location to explore the local area and very close to the Watkin path up Snowdon. Very cozy bedroom with easy access to toilet and exit. with Liam and Debs were wonderful friendly hosts, very accommodating and helpful. They offered us plenty of advice, information, lifts and we got a delicious breakfast. Highly recommending this place. Thank you so much for the first class hospitality.

Cwm y Wrach is our magical, listed 19th century cottage a 5 minute walk from parking in Nant Peris, Snowdonia National Park. Recently refurbished. Perfect for walking, climbing, writing, painting, and/or simply being off the beaten track. Smokeless fuel stoves on ground floor. Sheets, towels &c. Not nosey, but I like to know who you are, your plans &c. If coming from abroad via London, I can sometimes help out with accommodation there (via Airbnb).
Cwm y Wrach, our lovely cottage is a 5 minute rough walk from a carpark near the Vaynol Arms, Nant Peris - you'll have to carry your kit & shopping, but once there, you'll have a splendid and secluded base for walking and climbing in Snowdonia, writing, painting or simply relaxing away from it all.... Once a climbers' hut, then a cottage belonging to Ian & Loreto McNaught-Davis, Cwm Y Wrach is now our retreat in the Snowdonia National Park. We love it....and we rent it out when we're not there. A cosy kitchen/dining room, electric hob and oven, sitting room and two ground floor solid fuel stoves. Electric shower and bath in ground floor bathroom/loo, upstairs loo and basin. Three storage heaters, and fan heaters. One main bedroom (double bed) and two rooms with twin beds. Adjacent utility room with washing machine and tumble drier, our garden tools &c. Fuel is provided (smokeless, firelighters, kindling).
Snowdonia - need I say more....you can climb Snowdon, and walk over to the Ogwen Valley. Anglesey, Menai Strait, Caernarfon, Lleyn Peninsula, Port Madog, Port Meirion and Harlech are in easy reach by car.
  • The house is beautiful! Set back off the road you could totally forget the rest of the world. Charlie was a great host. Send very helpful information and arrange everything for our stay. Would highly recommend. Esp as has not one but two wood burners!

    Rosie2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic traditional cottage to base yourself for exploring Snowdonia and surrounding countryside! Charlie extremely helpful from first contact. Cottage very comfortable, homely and well equipped for all the seasons. Mountaineering curiosities and photography on the walls. Snowdon and Glyderau rising up either side of your doorstep. Rope swing on nearby hillock for sunset viewing. Short walk from the car adds to the charm with pub still in walking distance. Couldn't ask for anything more and we hope to be able to make it back in the not too distant future!

    Calum2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cwm y Wrach is a magical place - it's an old, unspolit house on a hillside, with mountains all around. This isn't a bland, "luxury" holiday home - this place has soul! The fact that you have to walk to get to it just adds to the feeling of being close to the mountains and the history. However, it's only a short drive to Llanberis and the Vaynol pub is easy to walk to, so shops and eating places are close by. Charlie the host was great - there was a plumbing problem before we arrived about which he was very open (and which didn't cause us any trouble) and he lit the fire so that the house was cosy when we arrived. We had five nights there and could have happliy spent longer, and we're already looking forward to going back!

    Janet2017-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is fantastic, really remote in a good way, and close to the start of several Snowdon walking routes (5 min drive), so it was perfect for us doing the hike. It is surrounded by mountains and is ideal for a getaway to the country to escape hectic life! The cottage is nice and cosy when you get the 2 fire places up and running after a day out. We cooked in each night as there is nothing around nearby without driving somewhere, but there is a local pub 5/10 mins walk away. Bring supplies! Internet was good, for somewhere so remote! Beds were comfortable, key collection was easy and directions/list was nice and clear. Highly recommended, and I bet would be even better in the summer. Go stay!

    Tom2016-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous cottage! A warm, cosy hideaway and so close to Snowdon (park and ride opposite for Saturday climbs). The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. On a clear morning there are wonderful mountain views on all sides. Lovely pub close by too. The 5 minute uphill walk from the car isn't a problem (a bit steep in a couple of places) but be sure to wear walking boots, especially in wet weather as ground can be waterlogged.

    Samantha2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • It's such a great place! We used it as a base and climbed Tryfan. Just bring shoes you don't mind getting dirty for the walk from the car to the house, sometimes we sank a few inches into the mud, but was prepared with boots so it was all good :)

    Laura2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you are after a real getaway in a spectacular location, then look no further. This remote cottage needs some stamina to access as there is a short but steep muddy path to negotiate with your luggage and supplies (rucksacks probaly better suited than suitcases which we had). Having said that, it's well worth the effort because once you are through the door, you can forget the rest of the world exists as you take in the views and encounter the visiting wildlife on your doorstep. The cottage has everything you possibly need for your stay and has been tastefully rennovated to a good standard and sensibly equipped. Our family of 3 adults and 3 children (8,10,12) found enough space to share comfortably, especially enjoying the much needed smokeless fuel burning stoves to keep us warm and help us dry out from the deluge of rain we were blessed with on our visit. The washing machine and tumble drier were also a godsend in this respect. During a brief dry spell we explored the steep hills behind the cottage and were rewarded with the views across Llanberis towards the coast. The kitchen is on the small side, but has just about every utensil known to man. We didn't want for anything whilst cooking apart from maybe a microwave, but that just required some slower cooking, which is what holidays are all about! It was a hard place to leave and we hope to return when the sun is shining one day!

    Matt2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place especially for people loving the mountains, it is a very good starting point for mountain hikes. The best place to stay in the heart of Snowdonia. Soon we'll come back there!

Now available for Christmas This cottage lies in a village on the quiet side of the Mountain. There is a village pub opposite and a restored steam railway running nearby. Warm and cosy with central heating and a woodburning stove. Can be rented with our house next door . Great pub opposite.
This 150 year old miners cottage is simple and cosy with full central heating and a woodburning stove. Downstairs there is a sitting/dining room with exposed beams off which is the bathroom/cloakroom with a new walk in shower. Next to that is a spacious kitchen where you can also eat, equipped with an electric cooker a fridge/freezer a second fridge and a washing machine. Also off the sitting room is a conservatory looking out to the summit of Snowdon and leading to a small garden. Upstairs there are three bedrooms one with a double bed leading off a twin bed room and a third with a double bed so the cottage could sleep 6 if you are all good friends or family. Wifi is free and there is a payphone as mobile coverage is patchy.
Snowdonia is the perfect place for a active or relaxing break. You can climb Snowdon from the door (approx. 6 hrs return) or you can drive round the mountain to Llanberis and take the train. There are many other great walks from the village. The area is fast becoming the adventure capital of Wales. Rock climbing, triathlons, white water canoeing, Zip wires all take place nearby.Mountain bikes can be hired close by for use in the forest. There are beaches, castles, stately homes all within a short drive. The area is a mecca for steam railway enthusiasts. The Welsh Highland Railway comes through the village and joins up with the Ffestiniog at Porthmadog The pretty village of Beddgelert is 10 mins away or 5 miles via the new mountain bike/ wheelchair friendly path round the lake and through the forest. Sorry no pets
  • A lovely well equipped cottage in absolutely stunning location. Can walk up Snowdon from the front door. Loads of other great local walks, off road cycle paths for all abilities. Cottage is in the best location in North Wales and perfect for walkers or those wanting to visit Surf Snowdonia, Zipworld . Nice pub opposite with delicious food although over priced. Amazing cafe across the road selling gorgeous Dutch pancakes, breakfasts, cakes etc. Chris is a great host with all the local knowledge you would want.

    claire2017-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • A really great location and the cottage itself was much bigger than expected - photos don't quite do it justice, beds were clean and comfortable, as was the rest of the place. Adequate kitchen supplies provided. Wifi would have been nice but also good to get away from things. Overall we had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

    Tessa2014-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a lovely 4 night break over the bank holiday at Glanfa. The cottage itself was just as described and had everything we could need, we enjoyed having the log burner on after a long wet walk, and chilling in front of the tv. It sleeps 6, I would say 4 adults comfortably and means space is a bit of luxury for just 2! There is little/no phone reception or wifi available in the area so do your research before you get there. The best thing about the location is from here we walked a mile and a half to the start of the Snowdon Ranger Path for Snowdon Summit, so we could come down the Rhyd Ddu path into the village which was spot on. We also picked up the Welsh Highlands steam train from the village train station which was well worth it on a rainy day! We didn't think much of Porthmadog but loved little Beddlegert where we also got some nice food on a couple of occasions. The only shame, which is not Chris' fault, was that the pub across the road was not very inviting. They do food (which was actually great, if a little pricey, you need to book in the evenings during the holiday season as they are busy) plus b&b and camping so they are a little busy checking people in and giving directions which means they don't have so much time to make you feel welcome and at home.

    Emma2014-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was as described, and communication with Chris was straightforward. The location was good for exploring both Snowdonia and further north to Caernarfon. The town is very quiet and feels like an old mining village. It's close to beautiful Beddgelert, and the drive over the hill down to Nantlle was an unexpected surprise - very scenic. Lack of internet/phone was a bit of a challenge for us, but Chris made that clear in his description. We did occasionally have mobile coverage with EE.

    James2015-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage in an excellent location - very comfortable. Chris provided very clear instructions ahead of our visit, and it was all very straightforward. Would definitely stay again on another visit to Snowdon.

    Sara2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and location!

    Sophie2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation in a great location. Well presented and maintained and less than 20 second walk to the pub, not entirely sure how you could ask for more. Four of us stayed at the cottage and had more than enough space, perfect base to enjoy Snowdonia from. I am positive that won't be the last time we stay there. No phone reception or internet access in Rhyd Ddu but for us that added to the joy of getting away from it all. The simplicity of great hiking, great food and great beer led to a very enjoyable weekend.

    Christopher2015-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in a beautiful location and perfect for exploring Snowdonia. We wandered the nearby paths and took in the amazing views. Cottage was well stocked and the log burner was great to settle down next to after a long day in the fresh air. Great value for money and the pub opposite provided wide selection of beers and very good quality food (although high end prices). Brilliant communication from Chris and may well be back.

Cefnan is a traditional 2 bedroom, self-catering cottage with a coal fire, set in the village of Rhyd Ddu, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, available to rent all year round. The cottage provides an idyllic retreat at the base of Snowdon.
  • The cottage in Rhy Ddu was delightful. Set in a stunning location it was ideal for a peaceful break away. Host Katrina was super helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had. We had a great stay and would highly recommend to others wanting a break away in Snowdonia.

    Chelsea2016-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely weekend at Katrina's place. The location is perfect right by the mountain. The views are amazing, there are loads of walks and some cute little villages to visit nearby. Katrina's village is tiny and perfect for a chilled weekend away. The little tearoom opposite did a great breakfast and the pub restaurant was really nice too. The cottage was clean, cosy and had everything we needed for a perfect weekend away.

    Marie2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Katrina's cottage is nice. It is in a superb location, in a very small village in the middle of Snowdonia. We enjoyed (EMAIL HIDDEN)municating with her was easy.

  • Beautiful little cottage in a superb location. There was a lovely welcome pack waiting for us when we arrived and the cottage felt very cosy, with superb views from the top of the back garden. The local area is stunning with the Rhyd Ddu path to the top of Snowdon as you walk out the door. The pub across the road is definitely worth a visit, as is the nearby town of Beddgelert. Katrina was very helpful, sending the keys and instructions in plenty of time for our stay.

    Eira2016-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a great few days here. The listing and photos are accurate. Importantly we woke up warm even in mid-February! Katrina was great and quick to communicate with, posting the keys well before we were due to leave. She also left a file with the local information and set up of heating and wifi etc. The pub was great, open during the day, serving 9 ales and with roaring fire. Would use again :)

    Meg2016-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a surprisingly spacious cottage in a fantastic location at the foot of Snowdon, ideal for walks. Quite enjoyed having a daily bath instead of the usual shower, although the hot water did run out fairly quickly. The only downside was not having any phone signal at all and only being able to use the landline phone in emergencies, so we couldn't call ahead to restaurants or to enquire about activities unless we drove a few miles away, so I would advise making any phone calls before you go if possible. That said, the WiFi was really good so was easy to browse the net for info. You can watch the steam train from the back garden and the café opposite does gorgeous cakes! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to enjoy a quiet break in the beautiful heart of Snowdonia.

Crashpad Lodge is a unique off-grid Lodge situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park making it a perfect base for your getaway in North Wales. Located on the wild slopes of Snowdon you are close to the amenities of Llanberis yet still very much in a mountain environment. The traditional farmhouse has been carefully restored to its former state and will sleep up to 18 guests in three bedrooms comfortably.
The mountainous location of the bunkhouse means that it is completely off gird and self sustained. This does mean that there will be a little bit of maintenance and up-keep on your stay but nothing that we feel would be too inconvenient.
Llanberis is a village in Gwynedd, northwest Wales, on the southern bank of the lake Llyn Padarn and at the foot of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. It is a popular centre for outdoor activities in Snowdonia, including walking, mountaineering, climbing, mountain biking and pony trekking as well as water sports such as Scuba Diving. The international fell race known as the Snowdon Race (Welsh: Ras Yr Wyddfa) to the summit of Snowdon begins in the village. Llanberis takes its name from Saint Peris, an early Welsh saint. It is twinned with the Italian town of Morbegno in Lombardy.

  • The 'Grooms Quarters' was not very well described on the website. It could show some better images of the rooms. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived late Friday night. I would suggest studying it's location on '(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps' and 'Street View'' - then, if you arrive tired in the dark- you will find it easily .

  • The cottage is a perfect retreat for exploring north Snowdonia. Walks start straight from the cottage and a micro brewery is located a few minutes up the road. The cottage was kept very clean and tidy upon arrival. If we was to head back to the area we would certainly return.

My place is in the Snowdonia mountains., great views. You’ll love my place because of the location. My place is good for couples, groups, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). If you like walking the mountains or easier more level walks this is the place to be.
The house is grade two listed. It was the Grange of the Abey of Aber Conwy. There are 5 bedrooms, 2 singles and3 doubles, on the first floor as well as a newly re fitted bathroom. Downstairs an utility room with tumble dryer, washing machine, iron and board, toilet and shower room with electric shower. A large lounge with a wide fireplace under a segmented stone arch. A large kitchen diner with Stanley range and a modern ceramic hob under an oak beam an electric fan oven, a 1000wat microwave and a fridge above freezer. The solid wood kitchen table has an old settle on one side and 5 chairs. Adjoining the kitchen is a lounge which was a new addition in 1976. In the lounge is the TV, DVD, stereo, three seater settee two seater settee chair, log burning stove and looking out on to the mountain and down to the lake a big picture window. Outside the lounge is a little courtyard with outside sitting space.
The nearest house is half a mile away.
  • We were lucky enough to have blue skies for the duration of our trip :) The accommodation isn't done justice by the pictures. Everything was clean, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we could have needed (including a large slow cooker). A large basket of wood was provided free of charge so we made good use of the log fire. Location-wise, if you're after some peace and quiet - this is a great choice. It's a short drive to most places. We had an excellent meal and some good ales at the local (10mins) pub - BRYN TYRCH INN. Bedrooms were all good sizes and very comfortable. 2 modern bathrooms with hot/powerful showers. Will be back! Thanks :)

  • Great place to stay, especially if you want some peace and quiet! The house is cosy and right on snowdon. Would deffo recommend and stay again.

  • This place is utterly stunning. If you want to be away from it all, then this is the place for you. You are submerged into deep Snowdonia, surrounded by the best of Welsh countryside. The cottage has everything you could possibly want and feels like a home, rather than a holiday cottage. It is remote but the directions provided by Richard were great, and in a world surrounded by mobile phones, it was bliss to have no signal and no wifi. It is ideally placed for climbing Snowdon (just ten mins away from the car park for Miners Track), and Zipworld is around 20 mins away. There were plenty of other activities all within a 30 minute drive but we couldn't fit them all in! We stayed as a family group of six adults and the house was a perfect size. For us the best bit was sitting around the kitchen table whilst preparing dinner, as the heart of the house for us was the kitchen. Every amenity had been thought of by Richard - from dishwasher tablets, logs for the fire and even board games/DVDs! Richard is a lovely chap, and made us feel very welcome during our stay. We all agreed that we would be back again in future and we cannot thank Richard enough for allowing us to use the cottage as our base for the long weekend.

  • The cottage is in a spectacular setting with views you could look at all day long. It's well equipped and has plenty of space. The location is ideal for exploring the whole of Snowdonia. Well placed for walks up Snowdon and Zip World activities. Shops and restaurants are a short drive away in Bedgelert where the food on offer is quite extraordinary.

  • Hidden gem in Snowdonia! With very specific directions we arrived at this lovely cottage, met by Nick opening the gate with baby in arms. After showing us around the cottage offered to mark up the maps for different routes for Snowdon and Cnickt. We settled so quickly into the cottage enjoying the cozy atmosphere, then explored that public pathways that connect up to it. Nick recommended the path up behind the cottage to the summit, passing two old stone barns to reach amazing views as far as Snowdon, Cnickt and Cardigan Bay. Could have stayed up there for hours just enjoying the views. Our grown children came back exhilarated from the recommended walks while John and I enjoyed the suggestion of visiting Portmeirion. Also close by is the enchanting garden of Plas Brondanw. We enjoyed the outings to Caernarfon, Beddgelert and Betws-y-Coed, but there really isn't any reason to leave the cottage for it has everything at the doorstep! Really enjoyed the hot tup after a day of hiking! And the bright cozy kitchen for making and sharing our family meals. Thanks Nick & Charlotte for a wondrous holiday! Cathy, John and family

  • Fantastic place - you will need some driving skills to navigate the narrow single lane which leads to the cottage but the location is beautiful and very remote with mountains all around. Nant Gwynant is well located for the major hill walks in Snowdonia or there are tracks that lead off from the cottage itself. The cottage is spacious and has bags of character - there is a hot tub! Nick and Charlotte were great hosts and looked after all of our requests as well as communicating impeccably and leaving little touches around the cottage like fresh milk, Welsh cakes, board games, books and dvds. Nothing bad to say, this is a gem of a place so highly recommended. As a final tip, the Nant Gwynant cafe does great high quality breakfasts and brunches (we broke down outside it on the way home so it was a happy accident...)

    Huw2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • NookSnowdonia is an amazing retreat. The cottage is set right in the heart of Snowdonia, completely isolated in beautiful surroundings, on a public footpath through the hills and by a mountain stream, idyllic! I would try to arrive at the cottage in daylight as the narrow trace to the cottage could be difficult for larger vehicles. But we did it in a camper van so don't be put off! Nick and Charlotte were perfect hosts, we were welcomed by a fire, prosecco and Welsh cakes ❤️ The cottage is beautiful! Traditional tiny doorways, with stylish cottage decor. The kitchen is fully equipped. Two bathrooms. TV and DVDplayer. The hot tub is great! And Nick and Charlotte have thoughtfully provided robes and flip flops. The location is also ideal. In the heart of Snowdonia National park, in easy distance of all the best attractions and activities including Snowdonia itself. We went gorge scrambling in the Afon Ddu gorge. I highly recommend NookSnowdonia and am already planning on going back!

  • This cottage is as if cast from a fantasy. Set in a valley that beggars belief in beauty, the house is eons old and tastefully presented and gorgeous. The photos on Airbnb are true but understate how lovely it really is. We stayed for two nights lamenting we ought have stayed a week or more. It's 20 min from snowdon and a whole heap more that we just never made it to in the time we had. hiking to the high point on the private land was super convenient and majestic. Views to sea and snowdon! Will definitely return but for much longer.

There is also a pleasant walk to a pub that allows your dog to join you just though the forest and round the lake.
  • We had a great stay at Snowdon Lodge. Elaine was very responsive with answering questions and sending directions and information. Edgar was also very helpful giving us guidance on where to walk and tips about the midges. The cabin had everything you could possibly need and was well equipped. The only down-side was the midges, which we found were attracted to the kitchen light through the air vent. A good tip is to keep the kitchen lights off and use the lounge lights instead. Edgar made us incense burners to use citronella outside to keep them away -that also helped. Our friends were a little cramped in the smaller-sized beds but in general it was a very comfortable stay. Thank you for having us at your pretty cabin by the stream.

  • Elaine and Edgar's Lodge is a little hidden gem in North Wales. The pictures don't make justice to this place! It is scenic, silent, private, beautifully decorated, everything looks brand new and very clean. The river on the backyard is a dream! We didn't meet Elaine but Edgar met us in our (very) late arrival and made us feel welcome. We absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to return!

  • Wonderful location to explore Snowdon and North Wales from. We loved being so close to Beddgelert and it didn't take us too long to get to Conwy and Aber Falls either. Our three children really enjoyed having the beautiful river in our back garden. The accommodation was superb and we couldn't have asked for a better long weekend away. Thank you!

    Ellie2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge is absolutely lovely! It's a rare finding, as one doesn't often find an accommodation by the river with fantastic views. It is very well equipped with everything you'd need and it was spotless clean. Decoration is really cosy and done to a high standard. Having the balcony by the river is simply amazing. Elaine and Edgar were very nice and friendly and gave us some good advice about hikes we could do around the area. It was very nice to arrive to the cottage and find some milk, tea, chocolates and wine! The lodge is very conveniently located as it's only a couple of miles away from one of the routes to Snowdon and it is also very close to Beddgelert. We really enjoyed our stay there and would love to go back.

  • Ed and Elaine's lodge was great. The scenery was beautiful, and surrounded by footpaths. It was in a great position to drive to Snowden and Portmeirion. The pubs in nearby Beddgelert served great beer and food. Ed and Elaine are close by if you need anything, and they provided a folder full of things to do in the area. We had a great time and would definitely return!

  • Lovely cottage with a great view onto the hills opposite and of the steam trains going along the Welsh Highland Railway. The rear garden is steeply sloped but fun to explore with a small wood at the top. There's also a shared front garden across the road that leads to a river. The road is 30mph but not much visibility so I supervised my children crossing it. Parking is on the road and in demand but we had no problems finding a space in May half-term. The cottage has a lovely homely feel to it and had everything we needed.

This former chapel house stands in its own grounds in a village at the foot of Snowdon. It has a stunning modern sitting room looking out over the secluded garden and the summit of the mountain. Need more space? Why not add our cottage next door. Come and enjoy the mountains, castles, beaches, steam railways, the pub or just the peace and quiet of the National Park
This former chapel house stands in its own grounds looking out over Mt Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales. It lies in a small village on the quiet side of the mountain. There is a pub nearby and a restored steam railway runs through the village. Ty Capel, Chapel House in Welsh was built in 1895 originally alongside the Chapel (now pulled down) for what was a thriving slate quarrying area. Its three foot thick stone walls were built to keep out the weather as it stands 600ft above sea level. It was refurbished and extended in 2005 to a high standard. There is plenty of space both inside and out. Inside there are two sitting rooms one with a 42inch TV as well as a separate dining room with an antique welsh dresser ,a kitchen with electric cooker, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. It is warm and cosy whatever time of the year you choose with full central heating in all rooms, two woodburning stoves and an Aga type cooker which heats the water, keeps the house warm and cooks. One shower room with basin ,two separate toilets and a bathroom means there is no queuing in the morning. You can lie in the bath and look at the top of Snowdon. There is also a utility room with sink, washing machine and a second fridge to keep those beers cool. A large flat screen TV with freeview and wifi and unlimited broadband will keep everyone happy. There is a lovely sheltered garden which is perfect for barbeques and a relaxing glass of wine whilst watching our many visiting birds and enjoying the stunning scenery
Situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park with stunning views of the mountains. Just the spot for an active or relaxing break. Snowdonia has become the centre for adrenalin junkies with zip wires, surf Snowdonia, mountain biking, triathlons and of course climbing all within easy reach of Ty Capel. Why not have a gathering of family or friends by adding our cottage next door (Miners cottage) max 15 persons. Whether it is mountains, beaches, castles, mountain biking, golf, pony trekking, fishing or just fresh air and peace and quiet,Snowdonia has it all. The path to the summit of Snowdon starts in the village (approx. 6 hrs return) but if you want to take the train to the top you will have to drive to the other side of the mountain.
  • We had a very nice stay at the Chapel House. The views from the house are just spectacular! The house was tidy and everything was in good working order. Chris is very easy to communicate with, and he is well-organized. We didn't end up doing a lot of walking due to the weather, but we did roam around behind the cottage for a bit, and it was really fun. We also visited some of the nearby castles and checked out a few of the local towns & villages. This is a warm, comfortable place to relax after a day out on the trails or on the roads. It would be a great place for a family or a group of people.

  • A lovely cottage with mountain views - and a large living room to enjoy them from. however the rest of the cottage is more traditional decor and may it be tri everyone's tastes. As phone reception is patchy - make sure you can get the wifi to work. it didn't work for us - but was only a short stay.

  • We were in Wales for the weekend to tackle the Man vs Mountain challenge and Chris's place provided the perfect location for our stay. Stanley the stove was the ideal spot for drying kit post race. I would happily recommend Chris's place to others.

  • Chapel House is a great place to rent and explore Snowdonia. The house is equipped with everything you need and has plenty of bedrooms with different setups. Sitting outside, you have a great view of Mt. Snowdon. There was plenty of info at the house about hikes in the area as well as other attractions. You are within a 30 minute drive of the coast as well, so there are plenty of day trip possibilities. There is an excellent Restaurant/Pub across the street with local food done very nicely. Chris was great about getting in touch and sending instructions, etc. Thanks, Chris, for a great place to stay!

  • A wonderful experience, perfect location, beautiful house and the pub opposite serving good food and drinks, Thanks Susan and Chris good advice.

  • We arrived at Ty Capel after a long drive. When we walked in the house, it instantly felt like home. We took our little boy and Mother in Law and there was plenty of room. The house was very warm so nice and cosy for us all. Cooking on the Stanley Stove was a delight! We could see the Summit from the sitting room window. Location was perfect and a lovely pub opposite having work done but still great and will be amazing once completed. Would definitely stay again and thank you Chris for our great long weekend away!

    Philip2015-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Ty Capel is a very well situated house and the conservatory in particular is an absolute treat. Chris had promptly sent directions and instructions about getting the key etc and, after (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) inexplicably sent these straight to my Spam folder, was nice enough to send them again without complaints. Our stay here was comfortable - the common areas are very good, the rooms snug but comfortable. We had a bit of confusion in figuring out how to work the heating and the Aga (never having seen an Aga before!) but a quick call to Mrs. Vernon sorted that. The electricity meter worked fine. The electricity cost a lot less than I would imagine - you just need to remember to have some £1 coins spare. All in all, a very good base for exploring the area.

  • Great house for a weekend away in an idyllic setting to climb Snowden. Try and venture beyond the local pub, the ones in the next village (only 5 mins drive) are much friendlier!

  • I highly recommend a stay in the pods at Claire's place. The pod we stayed in was unbelievably confortable, very warm and spacious. There are nice walks to do around that area too :) very cosy and original place to spend time with someone you love

  • Fantastic! Great service all round in a beautiful location. The pods were comfortable and warm, and the showers were just what was needed after a full days walking! Would definitely stay again!

    Dathan2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in the camping pod, it was warm, cosy and clean. The community room was a great addition to our stay and we made use of the PC, toaster and microwave. The bathroom and showers were immaculately clean, we were very impressed. Staff were friendly and helped us quickly when we had a minor problem with the electrics. All areas welcomed our dog which was a bonus. We would love to stay again - set in such a beautiful part of the world.

  • A wonderful way to be near mountains, castles, and the lovely town of Beddgelert. If you love the outdoors but aren't sure, for whatever reason, camping will work for you, Red Dragon Holidays is the perfect place to stay. The pods are simple but comfortable and clean, the amenities (especially the bathrooms and showers) readily accessible.

    Jeffery2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location if you're climbing snowdon! Such warm and comfy little pods with all the amenities a few steps away. Local pubs did lovely food (great veggie menu) Lovely stay

    Victoria2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • The pods were super cosy and very clean. The washroom was also lovely and the BBQ area was cute. When we arrived at Bryn Dinas the key was hanging on the door of our pod and the heating and lamp had kindly been left on for us which made for a very easy arrival. We had a great time overall this weekend and I would recommend this place. The camping pods are on the side of a main road though with no bushes/fences to create any privacy. When I was BBQing many cars/pedestrians drove/walked right past me which I did not expect. This wasn't a problem during the night however as the road was a fairly quiet country lane so no noise problems.

    Kate2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal place to stay for a night or two after hiking in the hills. Very cosy, clean and looked after huts with great clean shared bathroom with a powerful shower and plentiful hot water. Claire was in touch well in advance of our stay and responded very quick to messages Great place and highly recommended

  • Well , where do we begin ? If you like the personal touch as opposed to the very often unfriendly and robotic service you get when staying in a hotel then look no further than this little gem of a place in the national park . The selfish side of us would like to say nothing and keep knowledge of this place limited but that wouldn't be fair to the amazing hosts that are Elaine and Ed. Upon arrival Ed greeted us with a warm and sincere welcome before showing us to our lodge which is situated literally 3 yards from a beautiful little river with views of the hills beyond. Once in the lodge there was flowers, chocolates and a bottle of wine waiting for us ( again , little touches that make all the difference ) . Ed gave us a quick guided tour of the lodge before leaving us to relax and enjoy the surroundings . Elaine and Ed had even gone to the trouble of putting the heating on for us before we arrived !!!!! Unfortunately, Elaine was unwell on the day we arrived but the next day made an unnecessary but much appreciated effort to come and introduce herself to us . To say Elaine was warm and friendly would be the understatement of the year !!!! We really could go on forever waxing lyrical about this belter of a place but that would spoiling what is in store for future guest . What we will say is do yourselves a favour and and experience this amazing place and we guarantee you won't be disappointed. We already have a return trip planned and can't wait !!!! Thanks once again Elaine and Ed . Phil and Lainy

  • Absolutely loved this little cottage... We drove from London and were knackered, but slept like hibernating bears in this super cosy, thoughtfully kitted out beautiful holiday home with the river right on the doorstep. We managed to stay during the onset of "storm Doris", but it was still an amazingly restful stay and the local area is spectacular. Our 3 year old adored the resident ponies, and thoughtfully Elaine and Ed had left a blown up airbed and even a chocolate easter egg for our little girl (and wine for the grown ups). The kitchen is ridiculous well kitted for such a small place, recommend bringing lots of groceries and eating in. We would love to return in summer with friends. Booking was extremely easy (even though we changed the dates), very thoughtful hosts, cottage was immaculate and it was very private but we knew Ed & Elaine were just a bell ring away if we had any issues...

  • Fantastic stay at Colwyn lodge! Myself and my wife were looking for a quiet getaway for the weekend when we came across Colwyn lodge, located on private farmland in the heart of snowdonia it seemed to have the perfect mix of comfort and the outdoors we were looking for without being too costly. On arriving (slightly late) at the farm we were met by the very friendly and accommodating Elaine and Ed (and their beautiful sheepdog Guinness) who promptly showed us around the lodge and made sure we had everything needed for our stay. Elaine and Ed's hosting style is perfect as they are always there if you need anything but are in no way imposing, they also gave us some great tips about many of the walks and different tracks to take as well as local pet friendly pub recommendations which was much appreciated. The lodge itself is located directly opposite the main house but is surrounded on all sides by a stone wall / secure fence so we could let our dogs roam freely and is in no way overlooked. The lodge is on the bank of a small slow flowing river that our dogs loved and the sound of which was nice to fall asleep to. Inside it was very clean and homely with all the amenities we could have wanted including milk, tea/coffee, cookies and even a bottle of wine, also towels and bedding were provided and there was no issues at all with hot water/electric supply. Since the lodge is right next to a river and the time of year of our stay there were some midgies which was to be expected but were easily countered with the supplied citronella incense sticks and certainly weren't overbearing. The location is absolutely stunning and there are an abundance of different tracks leading from the lodge up the different hills and into the surrounding forests, as well as to the nearest village of Beddgelert which is a 40 minute walk and is well worth taking the time to trek, the nearest path up mount Snowden is also around 10 mins drive away. Lastly it's worth mentioning that the lodge has a unique feel as there are only two lodges on site which are separated by a good distance and so it feels very private and peaceful rather than a crowded campsite which was exactly what we were looking for. We certainly recommend staying with Elaine and Ed and we will be doing so again in future.

  • We had a great time at Colwyn Lodge, and would loved to have stayed longer. Ed and Elaine were very friendly, and had kindly left us wine and biscuits! The lodge was really cosy and clean, and there's a nice spot next to the river to have a barbeque. We highly recommend you give it a try!

    Matt2016-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • A truly gorgeous setting and within walking distance of both the Rhyd Ddu path for Snowdon and the village of Beddgelert. The lodge has everything you need and was wonderfully cosy. Elaine and Ed were friendly and very helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here to anyone.

  • The pods are exactly as described. They are clean, comfortable and warm. The bathroom and shower facilities were brilliant, are very modern and really close to the pods. The site is in a beautiful wooded area and is a 10 minute drive to Pen y Pas. Check in and check out was made really simple; Claire made sure we had everything we needed before we even got there. For everything else the guest book was really informative. I would recommend the pods to anyone looking to stay in Snowdonia.
