“Interesting video about early days in the area when logging was a main industry. Walk along an easy signed trail and see displays pertaining to the logging industry from 1800's.”

“ Right on Spectacle Lake, about a 20 minute drive on Hwy 60, towards Barry's Bay. Beautiful view of the lake from the restaurant. I love having breakfasts there and on Sundays they have a buffet.”

Park
“We provide you with a complimentary Ontario Parks Day Pass to display in your car for a visit to the oldest provincial park in Ontario! Highly recommended is the Logging Museum and gift store on the East end of the park for a glimpse back in time to the creation of the park and the history of the Ottawa Valley's logging era. There is a short hike that has artefacts and displays including a logger's cabin to explore. A few minutes further up the road is a Visitor's Centre with a panoramic viewing deck, museum with interactive nature displays, gift shop, art gallery, and lunch bar. A Park flyer is in your cabin with additional information. **Pets must be leashed at all times.”

“This is the liquor store in town. Typically it is open on Friday and Saturdays until 7 or 8 pm, and until 6 pm Monday - Friday in the high season (mid-May - early October). If you think you'll be rolling in a bit late, we'd recommend stopping off for beer in the city, or at an LCBO on the way in.”

Food
“Store hours are usually 9-7 in the high season (May long weekend until thanksgiving), and are significantly reduced afterwards. The store also doesn't sell a lot of specialty produce (like avocados, pineapples etc), and if there is some in stock, it can be VERY pricy. If you have dietary needs, like gluten free foods, you won't find much here either. We suggest stocking up on groceries in the city if you require more than just the basic groceries!”

“It's BIG and clean and wonderful to walk out into for a fair distance with the water still only up to your waist. Nice sandy beach.”
