Southern Province Holiday Rentals

Just booked in Southern Province

to feel space, tranquility and nature...
Nestled in the middle of a large lush garden with sprawling trees and picturesque scenery, our villa is only a 15 minutes drive from Galle Town, the most well-known coastal city in Southern Sri Lanka. Deliberately designed to provide ample space and relaxed privacy for its guests, this is a newly- restored 18th century two-storied building which offers two large suites, each with a private swimming pool and a bath tub. The suites are surrounded by spacious verandahs opening out onto the terraced garden which gently slopes away from the house. Although hidden away, the ingenious planning of the original 18th century original owner (who's said to be a supplier of material to the Dutch Fortress construction) means that the position of building provides almost a lookout over the surrounding area. This suite -- Village Suite -- is a two roomed unit with a balcony overlooking the village. Surrounding jungle mountains are visible from the pool and faces west. The bedroom is air conditioned. The two suites can be booked together or separately. Each suite is completely separated from the other to ensure privacy. Both suites have been sympathetically restored in keeping with the history of this very old building, but with a modern emphasis on comfort, space and connection to nature. In a continuation of its heritage & is decorated with antique furniture from the Dutch period including large four poster beds. Time stands still as you enjoy the peaceful comfort and understated luxury of the rooms and the simple pleasures of being close to nature. Alternatively, Galle Town and the famous Dutch Fortress are easily close enough for exploring, shopping and dining. The popular and renowned Unawatuna and Hikkaduwa beach is only 20 minutes away. (Please note that given its large balconies, staircases, and open swimming pool on the first floor, we regret that it is not able to accept guests with small children for safety reasons.) The famous "The Lighthouse Hotel" -- a masterpiece by the world renown Architect, Geoffrey Bawa -- and the beautiful beach just 10 minutes away. Wifi Meals can be ordered or a cook can be hired by prior arrangement. Breakfast included in the rates
Galle Town and the famous Dutch Fortress are easily close enough for exploring, shopping and dining -- 15 minutes by tuk tuk. The popular and renowned Unawatuna and Hikkaduwa beach is only 20 minutes away.
  • I arrived in Galle on the 6th day of my Sri Lanka trip with no cash and my card blocked with my wife, in utter distress. We were welcomed with a warm assuring smile by Dinesh. He even helped us with some cash till i could get my card issue resolved. Really nice and helpful people, lovely family adorable kids and a great house. Its a little away from all the noise of Galle Fort area however just a 15 minutes tuk tuk ride from everything. You can go to sleep hearing the ocean roar and to the sound of crickets. The plunge pool was amazing. We had a great great stay with them. Thank you very much Dinesh and Sumudu, you people were amazing. As a matter of fact we only met really nice people through out our Sri Lanka trip. Oh and I have to mention that Sumudu makes some of the best breakfasts in Sri Lanka. Really amazing food. Thank You once again till we meet again. Love, Ellie and Wribhu :)

  • Sumudu and Dinesh were just the perfect hosts. The apartment itself was absolutely gorgeous, and much bigger than we thought it would be. There was a lot of space to move around and relax, and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. The house is built around many trees and some interesting animals and birds can be seen around. the private pool is small, but perfect for a cool down and relax. Dinesh and Sumudu were both very kind to us. They were great at recommending places nearby, and are very interesting to have a conversation with. Dinesh cooks some really great breakfast, and gave us the best juices we had all over Sri Lanka. They were also very kind in letting us borrow their laptop as my husband had to have a (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) interview while we were staying there. If we go back to Sri Lanka, we will definitely be in touch with them to stay there again.

  • Our stay with Sumudu and Dinesh was amazing. We had a wonderful stay, and would love to go back. Sumudu and Dinesh gave us a warm welcome and were extremely helpful helping us organise tuks tuks into town and make other travel arrangements and provided great recommendations as well. We were treated to a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast each morning as well. Their home is gorgeous, surrounded by trees. The setting of the rooms and pool is scenic and peaceful. The room is also clean and well furnished. Galle is wonderful, but our stay with Sumudu and Dinesh made it truly special. If in Galle, I would say a stay with them is not to be missed.

  • Dinesh and Sumudus place is located amongst the beautiful jungle about 10mins from Galle, which is a nice break from the hustle and bustle. Dinesh and Sumudu are incredibly kind, and went beyond expectations when it came to helping us with everything from organising transport, to the amazing traditional Sri Lankan breakfasts. The room was clean and the plunge pool was a nice place to relax and cool down after busy days. I would recommend this Air Bnb to anyone who is wanting an escape from the busy Sri Lankan cities, and loves wildlife- as you there is plenty around this location.

    Naomi2017-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place this is! Quiet and comfortable but with a friendly local tuktuk to get us to lots of beautiful places all within 20-40minutes. The air conditioning was very welcome as was the fridge, bottled water, kettle and especially the beautiful plunge pool. We watched purple faced langurs from our balcony, Palm squirrels, kingfishers; such a treat. Sumudu and Dinesh were fabulous hosts, friendly and welcoming with lovely children. Our breakfasts were second to none, we adored the Srilankan food and went home fatter than we should have been! Heartily recommended!

  • The listed property has two bedrooms, each with an attached bath/toilet. The smaller room also opens to a plunge pool which is surrounded by trees (we love the great ambience of bathing in the nature). In front of the two rooms is a spacious terrace with big sofa to relax. You also have your own entrance which makes it comfortable to go in/out of the property. The host couples are happy and eager to help. Their house is 6 km out of the town of Galle and we use the tuk tuk driver recommended by the Host to go to town. It costs 500 rupees one way but this cost lets you stay at a place right in the local population. An happy and unique Airbnb experience.

  • This place is exactly as described in all the previous reviews - sumudu & Dinesh were the most attentive hosts we've ever experienced across the world! Nothing was too much trouble for them, they picked us up, dropped us off, gave us advice, a phone, the lot. The rooms were spotless, comfy, air conditioned, private and beautiful. The pool was incredible. Location perfect. And the food was delicious!! A must stay for anyone looking for a relaxing retreat and exploring Galle! Thanks so much for having us both

  • After more than 10 years of traveling and living overseas, Spice House is one of a handful of idyllic places we would love to revisit and would highly recommend. Phil and Mithsala were incredibly gracious and witty hosts. Their attention to detail and tremendous eye for authenticity and quality has resulted in the creation of a stunning santuary - fit for a honeymoon. We had the tremendous fortune to stay in the "mud house" for 4 nights with its beautiful shower under the banana palms and traditional mud/clay tile and thatch roof. It was the perfect place for my private yoga practise and we enjoyed watching an amazing assortment of wildlife from the comfort of our balcony, including two types of monkeys, large lizards, a mongoose and a stunning array of exotic birds, including the brightly-colored Kingfishers that have made the pond area in front of the balcony their home. The food was absolutely delicious - with a variety of tasty curries and other traditional dishes for dinner and the staff went out of their way to prepare our eggs the way we love, offering a different traditional food each day, and including a beautiful assortment of fruit, juice and quality bread. The menu is largely vegetarian with lovely seafood options - meat lovers can find ample opportunities along the beach. No alcohol is served but this can be purchased in the next village - only a short tuk tuk ride away and our room was equipped with a little fridge for personal stocks of beer, wine and snacks. Fresh flowers are found throughout the house and rooms in the back are protected from the noise one typically encounters in most guesthouses/hotels as all flank the main road in Mirissa. Our hosts also sorted us out with transport, whale watching, offered an on-site, honest money-exchange guy, and reccomended great places to eat/visit within the town. The infinity pool is gorgeous, especially at night, and the common areas offer ample comfortable and intimate places to chill out while enjoying the jungle view. My onle regret is that we could not stay longer!

  • We planned to stay only one night at this awesome place. But as soon as we arrived there we decided to stay for one more night. Unfortunatly all the rooms were booked allready. So we decided to come back 2 days later and spend another night there. The house is beautiful and the hosts could not be more gently and openhearted. We felt very welcome and loved to stay there. The rooms were nice and clean and you have an awesome view over the nearby jungle. We also got the opportunity to see a wild monkey doing tricks in front of us. We also have to mention the whole staff of the spice house. They are very kind and always gently. The breakfast was also great. Overall we totally recommend the spice house to everyone who wants to stay in mirissa. A total 10/10! We are definately coming back!

    Arne2015-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, amazing pool area, bedrooms were very spacious and clean with great views. All the staff and the hosts went over and above to make sure we had the best stay. The food was also delicious. Really wish I could have stayed longer! Cannot recommend enough

    Jennie2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The hotel was beautiful, clean and had a traditional Sri Lanka feel. There was also a beautiful rainforest garden and pool. The hosts and staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a highly recommended peaceful place to stay.

    Lucy2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Words can not describe how beautiful this place is, the view from the house is breathtaking, we could not believe how much we got for our money, we enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night! Phil and his wife are exceptional hosts who take such pride in their property's appearance, they are extremely caring and will do anything to help out. We stayed in an outhouse in the jungle grounds of the property, we saw some amazing animals every morning from our window, the room was of a very high standard. This property is an absolute must when in the south of Sri Lanka, the breakfast is delicious and Mirissa beach is beautiful. Be sure to check out the Lantern restaurant.

    Joe2015-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Phil welcomed us warmlly and explained us every details of the room. The room is so nice having a nice jungle view ane swimming pool view. The bed is very confortable and mosquitos free (with mosquito net). We had a great stay and the breakfast is well served. We strongly recommended !!

    Jimin2016-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • this house is really amazing! such a nice place with an absolutly fabulous pool! everything was ok, no problems. phil welcomed us as we arrived and give os some explaination about the place and the neighbourhood! we would come back for sure!

    Matthias2017-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was the best stay we had throughout our stay in Sri Lanka. When we booked it we thought it would be a homestay with just us, but there are several other guests there as well (it is in Phil and Wathsala´s home and some rooms are in the garden as well). We joined for dinner the first and second night which we highly reccommend! The food is delicious (pescetarian) and it is a great way to get acquainted with the other guests. Thank you so much for having us!

  • My friends and I stayed in the Thambili house for 3 nights and 4 days. We came with the intention of exploring Sri Lanka but none of that happened as the house was way too good to leave. The photos of the villa don't do justice to the actual experience of staying here. The architecture, infinity pool and the service was more than what we had expected. The most unforgettable experience was the breeze from the sea to the villa. I should mention the house manager Ranga and the team for their friendly approach and service. We will recommend this villa to everyone. In future if we are visiting Lanka it will be only to stay in this villa.

    Anish2015-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • It was an absolutely wonderful experience to stay at Fiammetta's 'right out of a movie' beach villa. The photos really don't do justice to the actual beauty of this immaculate property. My family and I had a wonderful time. The staff treated us like royalty. I have already recommended at least ten of my traveler friends to stay at this wonderful property if and when they go to Galle. I can't wait for my next visit!

    Inshad2015-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • There is nothing to complain about the bedrooms of the house. They are cosy and clean. plus, the seaview is stunningly beautiful. But, there are too much staff hanging around the house in the evening and the door of the main entrance cannot be locked, so it feels unreliable in terms of security

    JUNRU2016-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We have never stayed in such a beautiful and comfortable place before, the whole view is pretty good, we spent a great time here and watched sunset with delicious food.

    ZIJUN2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Thambili Beach House, it was also easy to found along the main road with the bright orange walls! You can see it from a distance and it really stands out nicely. The hosts in the villa were wonderful, super friendly, and very accommodating. The villa itself was very spacy with a beautiful view over the Indian Ocean. It had everything you might possible need and plenty of space for all of us. Wonderful place, would suggest it to anyone!

    Vincent2016-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • The villa was amazing and probably better than pictured. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. We ate breakfast there everyday (4 days) and dinner twice. Chef was fabulous and will cook whatever you want. Of course we had seafood as much as possible. I would highly recommend this place and we will be back. 15 minute from Galle where there is a lot to do. Great restaurants, shops and fabulous sunsets!

    Carly 2016-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were six students celebrating the end of our studies, so we wanted to spoil ourselves. The villa exceeded our expectations, the service, infinity pool, our excellent house keeper and the chef were amazing. The architect in our group was also really amazed by the great villa. The staff always adapted the timing to our needs and asked how we would prefer the meals. Everyone in our group was very happy, and would love to come back! We even extended our stay and dropped our plans, since it was such an amazing place. We went surfing and visited a tea plant. And all the prices was more reasonable than what we had experienced previously in Sri Lanka. Thanks to Fiammetta for designing this amazing place and to the house manager for solving all our wishes elegantly.

  • Thank you so much for such a perfect couple of days. Your home is designed beautifully and maintained perfectly. Love the bathrooms and the outdoors and the use of concrete. We are inspired! And will definitely be back! The staff was super and always smiling. He even organised a little surprise birthday cake for my husband on super short notice! Thank you Tim and Shar!

    Anica2017-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Unakanda is amazing! I just wish I had more time off work or my wife was not heavily pregnant because we would have stayed here a whole lot longer. Full attentiveness as you like or just your own pad to kick back and relax. Manoj & Sujeeva are fantastic, were very welcoming and made our first time in Sri Lanka truly memorable. Tuktuks are easily arranged to go exploring & head out for meals etc. Perfect size for our small family but two couples would be extremely comfortable staying here as well. Tim was very responsive before and during our stay & always had our best interests at heart. We would love to go back soon!

  • From the moment we arrived @ Unakanda we felt absolutely at home!! After a long flight from London a brief stopover in Colombo this was the perfect start to a family holiday. Manoj and Sujeeva are the perfect hosts always there to help and advise but never in the way! Manoj is a great cook and prepared some great breakfast and evening meals catering for grown up and kids!! The house is really beautiful with probably the best bathroom I have ever been in. Lovely down hill walk to the beach and fun tuk-tuk rides to Galle. Thank you also Tim for your help prior to the trip and all the info! I wish you every success with this little piece of paradise you have created and your plans for the future!! In Manoj and Sujeeva you really have the perfect receipe !!

    Alex2015-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Unakanda is a unique, quality hideaway that will only improve as Tim and Shar's further plans are implemented this summer. Our best Airbnb stay ever. For the next couple months there may be building works onsite but they work around the guests and it's not a significant disturbance. Stunning pool with ocean view and modern architecture for those who like their bathrooms indoor/outdoor, big and tropical. Staff is exceptional. Check out nearby Wijaya to get your beach fix.

    Nathan2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • We were a family of four with two children (9 and 7 yrs old) travelling around south Sri Lanka and stayed for six nights at Unakanda. We were well looked after by Manoj and his team during our stay. Manoj will go out of the way to make your stay extraordinary with all your requests looked after including arranging any activities and necessary transfers. Unakanda is located in Unawatuna and within walking distance of the famed Unawatuna beach and short tuk tuk rides to other local beaches (Wijaya and Bonavista) and Galle Fort. It's on top of the local hill of the village so short hike or tuk tuk. Communication with Tim and Shar was also great with significant local facts and recommendations sheet ahead of our visit. Nice touch with a local mobile to stay in touch with Manoj (he even dropped this off at our beach lunch the day of check in to ensure we get to Unakanda without hassle). Morris the dog was a treat with us, especially with the children. We look forward to returning.

    Marcus2017-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Shar have created a space which demands that you succumb to nature, relaxation, tranquility, and bliss. Their home is both beautiful and inviting – you will not want to leave. In addition to the ambience, Manoj and Sujeeva are wonderful hosts that add a special touch to the Unakanda experience. It would be remiss of me if I did not mention that Manoj is an exceptional cook. What a wonderful place to share with the rest of the world!

    Erin2016-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved everything about unakanda. Manoj and Sujeva were amazing at making us feel completely at home, and cleaned the house to perfection every day. Manoj cooking was amazing, and he made sure we never needed anything. The house is just perfect, everything is beautiful, the bedrooms, and the bathrooms are stunning. The house itself is tucked away in the perfect jungle surrounding, the view is breathtaking. We will definitely be back. Tim sent us email with all the info we could wish for. Thank you so much

We have three room types available in the villa so you have the option to choose. **Room types are subject to availability. * Deluxe Triple Room Non A/C (First Floor) - Though first floor rooms are non A/C there will be a private balcony towards the scenic view for you to enjoy and due to the breeze and the proper ventilation you get from the large window type balcony doors and heat insulation they will not be that warm. * Deluxe Triple Room With A/C (Ground Floor) - Since it is in the ground floor, scenery view from the elevation will be not there. Though, you will not miss the view since there is a separate first floor Lounge Balcony for anyone to access. And also the ground floor rooms are located along a river bank with a nature friendly environment. * Deluxe Triple Room With A/C (First Floor and Second Floor) - This rooms have both air conditioning and the private balcony. In all room types: all other facilities are same. All room types have their own good reviews from our past guests. Rates on all are same. * There is no difference in our listing #1, listing #2 and listing #3. We have created three listings to avoid availability issues because AirBNB blocks the dates of a listing when it gets a reservation despite of us having three more rooms available. So if the specific dates you looking are not available in one listing, try the other one it might have luck. ** If you wish to have a room type please inquire us before sending the reservation request. If you send the reservation request we are bound to accept it since we have availability; even if the room type available is another room type.
Mirissa is well known for it's beach; additionally it's filled with lot of restaurants with popular Sri Lankan cuisines and popular for activities such as whale watching, catamaran boat rides, surfing, Ayurveda spas, and many more.
  • If you are seeking paradise on Earth, you should visit Peacock villa in Mirissa! Hosts were kind and helpful, rooms are comfortable and the location is peaceful with amazing view, esp. in the morning when the jungle awakes and a peacock lands on a palm-tree. We haven't lacked anything and hopefuly come back some time.

  • Great place and kind host. 10mins' walk from the beach. Thank you for offering whale watching tour with great price. Also thank you for your mix fruit juice, cakes and cookies. We had a wonderful time there. One of my friends fell in love with you lol. See you again if we come to mirissa in the future. Strongly recommend.

  • Comfortable accommodation and a really friendly and welcoming host who couldn't do enough for us. The property also provides lots of little extras such as beach towels, umbrellas, torches and board games, as well as a really good welcome iced coffee. Breakfast is not included in the price so I would recommend heading to the beach for this. We had a very pleasant 2 night stay here and although it's not on the beach it is very walkable.

    Liz2017-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was our favorite place and favorite host in all of Sri Lanka. We were provided a top floor room with a baby cot, a.c., big bathroom, deck and beautiful view. We were greeted with a delicious coffee, chocolate drink, allowed to check in early and the grounds were beautiful. This host helped us out with every need. You must stay here:)

    Juliana2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for nice place to stay, it is without a doubt the nicest villa you'll find in Mirissa. Our host, Cherindou is the kindest person we've met in Sri Lanka. The room was fresh, well lit, spacious, and there was a huge balcony to sit on and admire the great view of fields and jungle and listen to thousands of birds. No other houses are seen from there, just the big green. In the morning tasty breakfast is served right on your balcony. Nights are quiet and full of nature's whispers. And it is true, a lot of peacocks do live around the house, roost on nearby palms, stomp on the roof, and sometimes take and occasional crap on the balcony, which is momentarily taken care of by the staff. The balcony can be also visited by a chipmunk or even a monkey. Thank you, it was fun! We'll come again.

  • Thank you so much Charindu for hosting us, we loved our stay here at the Peacock villa. The location is great, its relaxed and peaceful and a short walk away to the beach. The views from our balcony were stunning and the room was highly maintained, extremely clean and comfortable. One of our favourite places we have stayed so far! We wish that we could of of stayed longer.

  • The Tree House looks awesome and is a very nice place to stay in Mirissa. It is such a quiet place although it is only a short walk from the beach. Ravindu and his family did everything to make our stay as well as possible. Breakfast is great. We definetly would come back!

  • Thanks to Ravindu and family for a lovely stay in your room in the trees. We found restaurants down on the beach and enjoyed swimming the next day. It is a place that we would have loved to stay much longer. The breakfast was really tasty and generous. We enjoyed talking to your smiling faced little boy. It very interesting to see the two new rooms under construction and we wish you all every success.

  • Not really as impressed as I thought I would be to be honest, and probably would not stay again. The location of the tree house is really convenient, close to not only the beach but lots of restaurants and bus stops. Ravindu and her family are lovely and very kind and the tree house was neat. But....we basically had no running water. The toilet stopped flushing at all, and the sink stopped working as well as the shower. We couldn't even wash our hands or the sand off our feet. Just a bit disappointed!

  • Very nice, cosy place near the beach. The hosts were lovely and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast and tea was delicious. Highly recommended.

    Robert2016-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The tree house is definitely worth the money. It's clean, charming, very close to the very nice beach of Mirisa, nothing you will regret. I really recommend. Only bad thing is the noise on morning that is very annoying if you want to sleep late. The street is very much busy and we feel like the Rickshaws were driving in the room itself :) Breakfast is very simple but good.

  • Super nice, friendly, delicious

    Mark 2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Where do we start with this little gem. We arrived before the people before us had checked out but we were welcomed immediately and given tea and fresh fruit and offered the use of another room for a shower etc whilst we waited. The room was very quickly turned around. The tree house is very cute with a very comfortable bed and the bathroom was great. We had homecooked rice and curry which was delicious and breakfast was also lovely- we had the Sri Lankan option. The only issue with this place is it gets booked up so we could only stay 1 night. Great location as its close to the beach. Thanks Ravindu and family.

    Anna2016-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Ravindu's Treehouse is wonderful! It is a basic room with a very nice bed and bathroom, there is even hot water. A big plus is the location, it is literally 5 minutes from the beach. Ravindu's sister and family were there for us during our stay - we got delicious breakfast and lots of good advice and help, they are incredibly big hearted people. We would definetly stay at the Treehouse again :-)

A charming and functional holiday house, 3 minutes away from one of Sri lanka's most beautiful beaches, Silent Beach. The House has an American kitchen, a great garden balcony and hot shower. This tranquil spot have a quiet secluded garden view. An inviting and relaxing, peace of heaven, to enjoy your stay in Sri Lanka / Tangalle, Little House is a 35 square meter space, including a 12 square meter of private veranda in beautiful garden. Our holiday house is close to one of the most beautiful beaches of Sri Lanka, about 170 km from Colombo. It was designed ideally for a couple wishing to enjoy a relaxing vacation. In the house you will find a comfortable queen size bed with mosquito net, a shower with hot and cold water and separate WC . We add a fully equipped American kitchen if you wish to cook your self. You should visit the top of the property, where you can admire the breathtaking view of the ocean and the nearby peninsulas, and some pretty spectacular sunsets. If you take a walk in the property, you will probably be able to observe the local fauna : tropical birds (peacocks, woodpeckers, kingfishers, sea-eagles...), monkeys playing in the Tamarind tree. After sunset, stars and fireflies will always be there to enlighten your nights… The Little House also features an outdoor table and chairs, for privet dining or just to relax, stargaze, read a good book, or to simply meditate with the natural surroundings around you. We offer free Internet access up in the restaurant area if you choose to get connected...or some limited internet in the house.
Our lovely vacation House called “Little House” is located in the heart of one of Tangalle's fishermen's village. It is quite far from the hustle and bustle of the town center, but still near enough to local amenities. There are two main beaches in close proximity, which are the famous [yet not crowded] Silent Beach and the Fishermen's Bay, which is also a great wave surfing spot. Silent Beach is more known and considered to be one of Sri Lanka's most beautiful. However, in some seasons, the seas can be too rough for swimming or lounging around, making Fishermen's Bay a safer option during these instances. The latter is also more quiet. Both beaches are just a short 4 minutes walk away from our holiday place. The people at Tangalle are very friendly, so there's no need to worry about going around. Children will naturally say hello to strangers and villagers will be more than happy to help you if you ask for their assistance. Sri Lankans are quite conservative so please always wrap a towel around you when you head to the beach.
  • We enjoyed our stay at "little paradise". Nice property and a beautiful little house, though it's much more in the "jungle" than the airbnb-pictures let expect you. The staff was very attentive and helpful. We would love to come back and can recommend this place to everybody.

  • Little Tamarind is really a little heaven! We loved the place. It is around Tangalle and very near to the amazing beach. We liked being close to the local life. The Sri Lankan breakfast was especially good! Prasanna was very kind and helpful. Thank you Prasanna.

  • A lovely little house in the secluded yet very special part of Tangalle. The place itself is small but perfect for a couple who love lazy days on the one of most idyllic beaches we've ever been on: "silent beach", only 4 minutes walk. The kitchen is a great touch for people who want an extended stay in Tangalle, we dined out every night nearby and had breakfast served on the porch every morning, but did use the kettle for a cup of tea (tea provided for free) at the end of a lazy day in the sun (this Brits idea of heaven!) The food, the service, (shout out to P for the history lessons and tips on the trip to Ella) the atmosphere and the location make this airbnb a real find.

  • Beautiful house that is for itself , in the bottom of the garden . There is a small kitchenette with stove and refrigerator. And a terrace where we could sit and enjoy the fireflies and stars. The only thing we lacked was air conditioning. The place is beautiful, quiet , and from the top of the site , there is a beautiful view . Completely meditative. Here we were invited to breakfast with the owner , who is a well-traveled and knowledgeable gentleman who really have found a lovely place which he will renovate for the enjoyment of future guests . On the beach , we ate a delicious lunch at the owner's recommendation. A delicious small place , on a beautiful beach . We had a lovely relaxing stay .

  • At Little Tamarind you can enjoy a little sweet guesthouse just for yourself. The place is clean and offers enough space including a kitchen. The bed has a moscito net. The shower is not heated, but the temperature is still okay. We stayed for just one night and during that night the dogs from the neighbours ground were barking very long. The host family is just amazing. We felt very welcomed and were treated like hotel guests. A big plus is the fact that you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner even on your own terrace or on the main guesthouse restaurant on the top with an amazing view. The food is very, very good. The location is just perfect also because the silent beach is in walking distance (3 minutes). This is the best beach we have seen so far in whole Sri Lanka. Highly recommended!

    Nada2013-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is as promised - it is an ideal peaceful place for a beach getaway. It was well presented, clean and private. The beaches are very close and, at the end of March, quiet with plenty of space to relax with little hassle. The staff at the hotel were very good and were very keen to make sure that it was a great holiday. The food was especially good and plentiful! Well worth a visit.

  • If is there any place that you dream to be in, as soon as you arrive in a new town... that is Ranjit place. Exquisite taste, well arrange and decorated, Ranjit place brought us back to those days in which painters an poets were used to see around town. He and his family are super nice, along with the birds in the morning and the lovely turtle! totally recommend!

    Andres2015-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Ranjit & family were excellent hosts to us. Inside their old colonial home we were treated to great Sri Lankan hospitality. The apartment was perfect for exploring the fort and we could have stayed longer. I would highly recommend staying here.

    Barry 2016-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly we need to state how much we loved Galle. We had a lovely short break here and really enjoyed exploring the city - which had a great atmosphere and was easy to explore by foot. It's recommended you walk the walls to see the fantastic views across land and water! There are also some wonderful places to eat and some great shops to browse. Secondly we would like to explain how much the trip was, for us, made so much more memorable by meeting Ranjit and his family, hearing about the city from them, and staying in their beautiful house. The accommodation itself is lovely - it had a private entrance so we could come and go as we pleased, and our rooms were in a separate apartment space around a shared internal courtyard with resident tortoises! The rooms are wonderfully decorated with antiques and beautiful furniture and we loved the fact that windows opened on all sides for views of the quiet residential streets and to enjoy a much coveted breeze! We adored the birds and squirrel that seemed to enjoy watching us as much as we did them! Thank you Ranjit for being so welcoming - you helped to make our trip to Sri Lanka memorable.

  • Great private apartment in a lovely old house. Our host was very friendly and showed us where to buy true local Hoppers. Would totally recommend.

    Rick2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had the fantastic experience of staying with Ranjit and his wife Moninna for one night. They have a beautiful old house in the heart of Galle Fort that is filled with character. We stayed in a private upstairs suite that was spacious, with 2 small balconies and felt warm and homely. Ranjit and Monnina were exceptional hosts, and were more than happy to spend some time getting to know us, and talking about their family and history of their home. The location is perfect, a very short walk into the main Peddlar St area, and an even shorter walk to the west facing rampart wall for sunset. Thank you both for a great stay, we only wish it could have been for another night! We highly recommend a visit to Ranjit and Monnina's place during your travels.

    Lee2017-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Ranjit and his wife were great hosts, and it was lovely to stay in the fort for a few days!

  • Ranjit Gonewardena, our host, in a nice man. He and his wife treat us very well. The guest house is clean, comfort and convenient to anyplace of galle fort. we have a good time in it. thanks for Ranjit.

    2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Ranjit and his wife offer one of the best, in our opinion, accommodation opportunities you will find in Galle. Their home is full of love and personality with 2 resident tortoise's! Our stay in this lovely couples home was just wondeful and we would love to return one day. The apartment upstairs has private access and a lovely little kitchen to make tea or a full meal. Thankyou again Ranjit for a truly memorable couple of days in the beautiful Galle - we won't forget it!

  • Sunil's villa is perfectly located over the beach and very well and simply decorated. Sunil was really friendly. The views are amazing. Breakfast is great. We would definitively stay there again and we shall recommend it to our friends.

    Joana2017-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Villa Pinthaliya's biggest strengths are: a) Its location. The pictures you see in the description are extremely accurate. Access to the beach is literally two steps down from the pool/garden area. b) The caretakers Sunil and Chanakya. They made sure that we were always comfortable and left no stone unturned to make sure that all our needs were fulfilled. They left us feeling homely and safe.

    Sanah2016-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • The villa is cosy and has a relaxed atmosphere with its view of the golden beach and the blue ocean. The location is great ( walking 5 min down the beach you can safely swim and see big turtles; early in the morning if you lucky swim with them also). The villa has a nicely sized pool and a small Green lawn just outside your doorstep. It has three rooms which all include comfortable beds and a Personal toilet. Galle is only 10 min by tuk tuk away ( and the old town is very pretty ) . Sunil is a great helpful host and the staff are very friendly and always available.

    Riccardo2016-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Villa Pinthaliya was exactly as described in the website, we stayed for two nights at the Villa and its a brief walk to the Unawatuna and the restaurants on the beach are fantastic. Host Sunil and the two caretakers are fantastic and quite helpful with local information and suggestions for us. Will definitely recommend Villa Pinthaliya to anyone.

    Nalin2016-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sunil was very welcoming and his staff excellent. This property was the highlight of our trip. It is located on a quiet strip of beach but only a short walk to restaurants. It really is paradise.

    Laura2017-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely excellent. Absolutely excellent team taking care of you and the premises. Beautiful private part of the beach, and still 5min walking distance from calm snorkelling lagoon where kids can swim and adults can snorkel with giant turtles. Can only highly recommend.

  • Aussie Ex-Pat family living in Chennai needing a weekend break from all the craziness. We chose this Villa mainly on the recommendations The sincerity and broad cross-section of reviewers gave us confidence that our first experience with Air BNB would go OK. It went better than OK. We fully endorse the previous wonderful reviews and only have high thoughts and praise for the attention to detail that Sunil and his kind team provide. We felt spoilt by the breakfasts and BBQ he made for us, and Sunil is attentive to hygiene in his home which is something we always look for. The pool was fab, right on the edge to the beach. The stars were shining and the ocean so relaxing yet invigorating. Two nice big, clean bedrooms upstairs with even better views and a great room downstairs made the Villa the complete package for myself, wife and 3 kids. We would caution use of the beaches in the general area as the gullies are considerable and the current and sweeps very strong on occasion, however there are some very safe beaches nearby also. We had relaxing dining experience at Wijaya where the food is probably just OK but the ambience is great.

    Joshua2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • This should be the best Villa in that area, the price is also competitive.Sunil is very nice and settle everything to us.

  • We've stayed at Nadee's place for four nights, and the stay has been good. Nadee's a very helpfull and welcoming host, and helped us with transport. The room was good, the a/c worked well, breakfast was tasty. The location of the place is particularly nice if you're travelling with kids, since it's 4 minutes away from a secluded beach and a lagoon with hardly any waves. Great place to snorkel and watch turtles as well. If you're looking for a comfortable place and friendly people, this is the place.

    Bert2016-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place is really nice and clean, a short ride with tuk tuk to the beach, Nadee is great host and I enjoyed chatting with her, she will also provide you with every information and details you may have

    Marko2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Nadee was a great host and the place was fantastic. We enjoyed the yummy breakfast too. Would recommend her place and visit next time we got to Unawatuna.

    Oliver2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Nadee's place was great! She gave us a choice of rooms. As we arrived. The breakfasts were great and it's near the best beach we found! Nadee was lovely and helpful. Would highly recommend.

    Liz2016-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nadee have beautiful properties. She is very kind and sweet. Our only complaint is that it says that the place is pet friendly- however the pet is not allowed inside the house. This is ok, but it should have been specfied in the ad. I even emailed and asked before I booked but she failed to mention this rule. This problem was solved by Nadee who provided us with a bigger space as thebalcony that my big dog was supposed to be on was way to small and hot for him.

    Sandra2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Really good Location (close to a beautiful Beach) and very good breakfast. We would stay again.

    Benedikt2016-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Nadee upgraded us to a nearby beach side place for the same price! As her place had lots of guests with many kids. It would have been quite chaotic adding our own kid. Overall we had a great stay.

    Niren2016-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed for nearly a week at Nadee's place and just loved it! We were looking to chill out after six weeks on the road and did just that. It was very clean, private (we were on the top floor), with very friendly host/s who were extremely polite, helpful and attentive if we needed anything! The breakfasts were also amazing & delicious! You can catch a tuk tuk to Unawatuna Beach a couple of km's up the road or close by (short walking distance) is the very beautiful, small Wiljaya Beach where we spent most of our time watching the many sea turtles bobbing around in the ocean. Do be aware that there is a temple close by that was quite loud at times so if you're after 100% quiet keep that in mind. Otherwise it can add to the atmosphere! Overall we would definitely recommend this place!

  • There is so much more to this incredible villa than just the amazing space it provides... There is all the help and advice Gizelle provides before even arriving in Sri Lanka, she goes the extra mile and then some; an example of this was our surprise birthday bbq, cake and decorations that greeted us on arrival to celebrate our Mothers special birthday. It is clear that Gizelle loves this country and wants whoever visits to have the best experience she can provide. Then there is Chaminda - his food is simply incredible, and his personality amazing, again always willing to help with a smile. And Kosola, the fabulous tuk tuk driver, only ever a phone call away - a phone that is handed to you on arrival with everyone's number in, just to make your stay even easier! I could honestly write for hours about how wonderful Gizelle, the people that work at Villa Sapphire and the actual villa itself are, because there are so many wonderful little things provided that make the villa, (cleaning every 2 days for example), and the people attached to Villa Sapphire so special - it would be impossible to fit in one review. You will not be disappointed...book it! We're already looking for dates to return!

    kate2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Gizelle's house is exactly as advertised on the site. It is set in a secluded area of Hikkaduwa but not too far from the night life and restaurants if that's what you are after. Gizelle's communication prior to arrival made me feel safe in my booking. The information book at the villa is extremely useful to refer back to even though Chaminda had explained everyting on our arrival. The villa itself is superb and Chaminda, the manager and chef, is on hands for anything but also discreet if not needed. Chaminda cooked for us 3 out of the four night and his food was beyond words. Would highly recommend it. We stayed here 4 nights and wish we could stay longer. This is a little piece of heaven! We were also very lucky to be able to swim with turtles which was a highlight of our visit. The beach is a til til ride away and is great for snorkling.

  • Very beautiful home to stay in! Loved the pool and loved the decor of the house. We felt like it was our home for the days we stayed there and had a lovely time.

  • Its been a super great weekend, thanks to Gizelle and her team.. i must say Lakshan and the Chef made us feel at home.. The villa itself i must say is superb, the landscaping to the interiors and the ambiance.. just perfect... we were a bunch of 5 guys, and we all loved it.. The food was just mind blowing cos the chef knew how we would like it.. The villa is located a bit on the interiors, however getting to the main road is not far if you have a vehicle.. however walking would be a bit of a long journey. If you don't have a vehicle, don't worry, Gizelle will help you, as they arrange a tuk tuk for the convenience of all the guest staying over. I would surely come back, and recommend to all that i know.. Thank you Gizelle/Lakshan/Chaminda (i think i got the name right of the Chef)

  • We booked this place for two nights only, then we were supposed to move to another area and look for another accomodation. We loved the place so much that we ended up by not moving anywhere else and book two more nights at Villa Sapphire. The place is simply amazing, clean and everything is organized. The perfect place to relax and also to have some fun with couple of beers by the pool. I want to add something: what makes a place amazing is not only the place itself, but the people. Chaminder is not only a great chef, he is also a great person. He organized a surprise party for my birthday, and cooked pasta the italian way (as an Italian I can really say that!). Kasala is not only a great tuk tuk driver, he is so patient, he took us everywhere all day and he was coming to pick us up at the bar late at night always with a smile on his face. What is more, he is so much fun. They became our friends more than our hosts. I wish we could meet Gizelle as well, she was so nice the whole time and she kepts answering to all of my messages in few minutes, because she really cares about everything being organized and perfect. Very professional. She was also very understanding and flexible. Definitely book this place NOW!!!

  • This place is fantastic. The villa is beautiful and brilliant for kids and Gizelle is a perfect host from the UK with exceptional communication and ideas pre trip. Her hosting is only matched by Chaminda whose cooking is truly sensational! It was such a treat on a holiday with our 2 young children to have a lovely dinner at the end of the day! His cooking and little treats for the children was so thoughtful. The whole experience was very thoughtful with little touches to make your stay even better especially for the children aged 18m and 4. The villa is perfect with a great location near a beautiful beach (narrigama) and Hikkaduwa provides essentials with a well stocked supermarket but the beach there is not a patch on others in Sri Lanka! Kosala is on call as the villa tuk tuk driver and he is incredibly helpful and brilliant with children as well! Gizelle helped us arrange transport between our other destinations on the trip which was brilliant to have a trusted driver and they all ran like clockwork! Essential with children. We could not recommend Villa Sapphire more highly - it surpassed our expectations and we will miss Chamindas food so much. We will miss it all and thank the whole team for a brilliant week! Thank you!

A European owned, self catering beach house in a secluded bay just minutes from lively Mirissa offers stylish accommodation.Perfect for a couple but can sleep 2 children. Tastefully decorated in Sri Lankan colonial style with well equipped kitchen.
Cococabana is the perfect hideaway for those seeking a bit of tropical paradise. Set in a tranquil garden it is just metres from a secluded bay with hardly any tourists and yet is only 1 km from lively Mirissa with its beach bars, surfing and whale watching. It was the owners original home before building a new villa on the same plot and is more than just a holiday rental. It is perfect for a couple or family with 2 children. However the second bedroom is downstairs reaching the first floor by an outside staircase so is not ideal for young children if they need access to their parents in the night. It has one bathroom upstairs and is therefore not ideal for 2 sets of adults. A cot is available for a baby. The upstairs has a wide verandah overlooking the coconut palm trees and the sea, just perfect for a morning cup of coffee or a sundowner cocktail. The kitchen is well equipped with microwave/oven/grill, gas cooker, blender, toaster, kettle, fridge freezer and washing machine. It is essentially self catering and a welcome pack of breakfast items is provided. Malani, the maid will clean most days and you can order her delicious Sri Lankan rice and curry for the evening or some of her other local delicacies. Local shops selling fruit, vegetables and general items are within walking distance and there are good supermarkets in nearby Matara. Mirissa has a wide range of beach bars and restaurants serving fantastic fish and seafood and is only 15 minutes away by foot or 5 minutes by tuk tuk.
  • Staying at the Cococabana was amazing, Anne-Marie could not have been more helpful with the entire process. She helped with taxis, things to do, places to eat/drink...etc. Our flight arrived at 3am and we were early for check in so she gave us a spare room to use until the previous guests checked out which was very nice. The house itself is ideal - private beach, swimming pool, 2 story villa overlooking the ocean, short hike along the coast to Mirissa... The list goes on. My wife and I are definitely looking forward to coming back in the future.

  • fantastic stay at copa cobana! we miss the dogs already. was like have a security team around you when ever you wander around the property. staff were great. can't wait to go back, hopefully soon! mirissa beach is very close by tuk tuk. must stay location without a doubt!

  • We stayed at Cococabanna for 3 nights with our 6 month old baby and we were all extremely happy there! Andy is a fantastic host and ensured we had everything we needed including babysitting if we had wanted that. The house is very comfortable the main selling point is its proximity to the beach, this is unbeatable and very relaxing to hear and see the sea from the house. To take a stroll along this quiet part of beach was the amazing, something we are missing now we have left. We will definitely go back.

    Jo2015-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Anne-Marie has a beautiful, well maintained, secure property which is easily accessible to all that Mirissa has to offer; from quiet beaches to festive night life. The staff were friendly & the neighbor with the tuk-tuk was very helpful & welcoming. The direct beach access was a great perk & the pool was the perfect way to start our mornings &/or relax in the evenings. The bathrooms & kitchen were clean & had good water temp/pressure during our entire visit. Finally, her 4 dogs were a joy. They greeted us anytime we returned to the property, had beautiful personalities, & were excellent guard dogs that made us feel very safe. Rice & Roti slept at our door every single night & all 4 walked with us when on the beach. They were adorable.

  • very nice place and wonderfull house, garden staff and swiming pool... nice place in front of the beach and close to the town... a little paradise on earth...

  • I was looking for a special place as a surprise 50th birthday celebration for my husband - and I found it at Cococabana Beach house! Absolutely amazing 5 days listening to the sound of the Indian Ocean from the deck of this gorgeous chilled out beach house! Andy was a fantastic host both before and during our stay with invaluable information about the area, organising a driver, inviting us for drinks on the terrace and truly making us feel so welcome and part of her family. The house is in a lovely quiet area of Mirissa but an easy walk or tuk tuk ride to bars and restaurants! It has everything you could need for a perfect get away from it all holiday. We loved it and really didn't want to leave. Thank you so much Andy!

    Jackie2015-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Anne-Marie was a gracious hostess. The written house instructions included everything one could need; phone numbers of tuk tuk drivers, restaurants, local attractions and names of staff. The refrigerator held a welcome stock of food items, fruit and beer! She also made time to visit with us and share her knowledge of Sri Lanka and the surrounding area. We found the home a quiet oasis, next to the ocean with local fishermen's boats parked out front. It was nice to be near to the beach and restaurants and yet away from the noisy and busy scene in town. We enjoyed our stay at Cococabana,

    Ann2015-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Andy (Anne Marie) and Daniel were the best hosts you could ask for! She's not just your landlord, she's also a friend and travel planner extraordinaire. It was very hard to pull ourselves away. Thank you so much, we will be back! Jenn, Tristan, Elizabeth (Congo & Vancouver)

  • As the eastern sky is getting bright, a lot of birds start to sing. The merry herd of monkeys move to their perch one after another. After that, water buffalo come to cool off at the lakeside. Monitor lizards enjoy sunbathing on a log beside the shore. Heron and Kingfisher are waiting for their prey on a perch upon the lake that is filled with fish. Banyan camp is cool and balmy, even though it's hot during the day. Maybe it's because there is a lot of green and it's near the lake. And then, when the birds go to sleep, the stage is changes to a chorus of insects and geckos under the beautiful starry night. At the first glance at VJ, I thought a fairy in the forest came in front of us. She always took good care of all guests to have a good time during their stay. Mahatun, a great cook. His dishes are with the harmony created from fresh vegetables and various spices, yet having no useless decoration, nor excessive flavor. I adore him for all his sophisticated dishes. The safari of Udawalawe is worth the price. Thank Tharanga for your wonderful guide. He can speak Japanese a little, so we had a pleasant time. The boat ride with Wasantha was cheerful, that made us happy. Thank Rasitha & Nishsanka for teaching us Sinhala. We had a really nice time. And we send special thanks to a clever dog Panni for always escorting us when we took a walk. Yoda & Fudge, be good dogs so as not to get yelled. At the last day of our stay, we were really happy to have finally met Souhaine. He is such a charming person who has eye for beauty. My partner said Souhaine is a really nice guy. Our 4-night stay was so incredible that I can’t find words to describe… The concept of Banyan camp is fantastic. There is no doubt that Banyan camp is one of the best places for the people who love nature to visit. Thank you for everything. It was our best stay. We never forget Banyan camp and you guys. Please keep on Wabi Sabi! Ayubowan.

  • Wonderful!! We reached the Banyan Camp in darkness, tired, only to be welcomed by a smiling Sohaine fireflies and yummy food. The camp is built beautifully and with love! I stayed with my family (including a two year old) and the place was so well kept, the staff was helpful and friendly. And surprisingly no mosquitoes!! Souhaine arranged for our trip to the national park as well. Wish we had planned to stay longer.

    Mooshir2014-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Banyan Camp really is a unique place to stay and we were not disappointed. Souhaine and VJ have created a beautiful camp in a stunning location and are obviously passionate about the nature that surrounds them and the culture of their country. They provided us with experiences we will never forget and we will definitely look to go back to the camp in the future. Thank you to you both along with all the staff at the camp.

  • We had an amazing stay at Banyan Camp! A completely unique experience that we all wished could've lasted longer. Souhaine was a great host and the location, food and hospitality were all fantastic. We will be back! Thoroughly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a trip they will never forget. Thank you all at Banyan Camp!

    Wendy2014-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • If we had know all the beauty and magic of this place in the jungle of Udawalawe we would have definitely stayed longer than one night. Not only the property is so unique with it’s position right next to Hambegamuwa Lake, far away from mass tourism and jam-packed guest houses. Also the organic architecture of the camp makes it a very stylish but homely place. Either you go on a walk around the lake discovering all sorts of surrounding wildlife, or you stay in the wooden hammock on the porch reading a book and spying with one eye on passing varans and monkeys... Souhaine had organised a Safari to the National Park closeby (Pick-Up and Drop-Off at the camp, Jeep and driver included), which was a convenient way to to be shown around. When coming „home" the host Souhaine and his personell were awaiting us with an illuminated camp fire and lanterns spread over the property. They not only provided a fairytale-like dinner with fresh, local food amongst dozens of fireflies in the outdoors, Souhaine also gave a good insight into all matters of Sri Lankan culture. If you get the chance to meet him in person, you’ll be inspired by this sympathetic, entertaining and caring host. This place is just a „jewel in the jungle“ and we hope we’ll have to chance to return soon. all the best Sina and Kai

  • Amazing place and hosts. A must do for those who need to better feel SriLanka nature and be off the beaten track. Good organic food, amazing wooden house and lake. A taste of paradise. Simply my best experience in SriLanka

  • Banyan camp was an amazing experience, its everything you could ever want and more!!! was definately the most relaxing few days of the trip, you won't find a better setting than this anywhere. Souhaine, his wife and his staff are all awesome and really do make you feel at home. We'll be coming back for sure!!! Thank you guys it really was amazing

    giancarlo2015-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Banyan Camp was by far the highlight of my trip to Sri Lanka. Souhaine, her staff, and their beautiful home far exceeded my expectations. Though the camp was absolutely picturesque the attention to detail put into every aspect of our stay is what made for a truly magical experience. You can feel the passion and love that Souhaine has for not only hosting but for creating a unique adventure for each of her guests. I would most definitely recommend the camp and would love to return in the future! Souhaine organized a morning canoe trip with a local fisherman which was absolutely stunning and also highly recommended!!

  • Temple House is the perfect spot for a relaxing family holiday. The house itself is absolutely gorgeous. It's spacious, comfortable and well designed, with great ensuite bedrooms and a nice breakfast area in the garden with a small pool to cool off in. The staff are brilliant- so friendly and helpful and Satish cooked us a mean breakfast in the mornings. The location is perfect- just a few minutes from the beach and fantastic restaurants. Wijaya beach is a psrticularly good spot just a few minutes away. Overall a wonderful place to stay. Thank you!!!

    Victoria2016-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • I echo the positive feedback written by others regarding Temple House. Firstly, Catherine was extremely responsive answering my queries prior to arriving in Sri Lanka and arranged a driver who was waiting at the airport when we arrived. Upon arrival, Satish was always available to answer questions, help out with booking trips, restaurants, tuk tuk's etc. The property is extremely well located in terms of access to local beaches and has a very nice restaurant within walking distance. In terms of the property itself, it is beautifully appointed and everything has been thought of to make your stay comfortable. Lovely pool, very welcome AC in the bedrooms, comfortable outdoor area, great showers, comfy beds and a great garden area for relaxing in over breakfast or in the evenings. All in all I highly recommend Temple House and would definitely go back.

    Christiaan2016-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • This house is remarkable value, the house is clean and modern with everything you need as well as a nice pool that is well proportioned to the garden. AC units are new and powerful, and there are generous number of fans in the living area. It is close to the beach with useful local shops and a great pizzeria if you get tired of all the seafood! Ashanti kept the place tidy and Sathish was extremely helpful. We have previously lived in Sri Lanka and returned for several holidays, this is one of the best places we have stayed in on a short term let, it beats the big hotel experience. In the future I expect we may return to Temple house or one of the other properties Sathish rents out. Thanks

  • As the other review mentions the pictures do not do justice to the place, located in the most perfect place you could ask for! Super peaceful area with no one to disturb you, as soon as i stepped in i was welcomed by the staff and felt immedeatly at home. Studding design on the inside and outside of the villa, not a single corner of the villa was dirty either. Sateesh the house manager is fantastic at his job and helped to get familiar with the place and explained to us about the many places we could visit, the caretakers were extreamly good people too. The rooms are amazing! The airconditioning works properly, got running water and its super clean and once again its got a beautiful design, we even wanted to explore the area but as soon as we stepped into the house i never wanted to leave. There was enough food and drink for us, at night there are no disturbances either and the villa has a beautiful lighting system, aswell many incredible arts. Would i go here again? I think this is the only place i'd like to go to.

    Fayad2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful house. Amazing ambiance, picture perfect bedrooms and great staff. Loved the breakfasts Satish put together for us.

    Tehseen2015-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • A really nice house, garden and swimming pool. Friendly staff. Everything was very clean. It was the end of 3 weeks traveling in Sri Lanka. We choose for luxury after relative low budget traveling. That's what you get. Thanks.

  • Catherine's communication was fantastic and she was very helpful in sorting out a medical appointment at the local hospital for one of our number. The villa is really lovely. It is secure, very spacious, lovely comfortable beds and nice linen, great aircon that cools the room down in minutes, great shower rooms, great kitchen facilities (we really like the water cooler). Sathish the local chap who manages the property was fabulous and looked after our every need and the housemaid did a great breakfast and our washing for us. The beach is walking distance, Unawatuna beach is 5-10mins in a rickshaw. Really great property, no downside!

For those who love the sea but like a quiet space to relax in away from the crowds. The self catering apartment is nestled in amongst cinnamon fields and jungle at the end of a residential road in Hikkaduwa. A short scooter ride or pleasant stroll to the beach.
One of three celf-catering properties on the same site. The apartment is equipped with.. Fitted kitchen- fridge freezer, gas hob and sink with all utensils, large breakfast bar with seating on terrace. Ac/fan bedroom with: desk and chair, large four-poster bed with mosquito net and wardrobe for clothes storage. Not over-looked which is great with our large windows! Bathroom with: Hot water bath/shower, sink and towel rail/towels. It is an amazing wildlife-spotting area and we have built a shady chill-out area in the garden with large barbeque so you can lie-back and watch the monkeys, birds and chipmunks. This is one of 3 apartments which are all slightly different- Bamboo, Jackfruit and Kittul. If you are travelling as a group there is a possibility of booking all three as a discounted block so please let us know if interested. We can arrange transfers, scooter hire or tuk tuks. Amila is a surf instructor and enjoys teaching our guests!
Hikkaduwa is famous for its surf, nature and watersports. You can swim with turtles, learn to surf, wakeboard on the nearby lagoon and see an abundance of wildlife only a short distance from our doorstep. Seafood (and food generally) is fantastic here-very fresh and we can show you the fish and fruit markets to help you with any supplies you need. If you are here to fully relax and unwind you can try some authentic Ayuevedic treatments including massage and cleanses nearby.
  • Hannah & Amila were fantastic hosts who made us feel welcome right from the start. I would highly recommend renting their home, it is a holiday we'll never forget! They helped us whenever we had questions about the area, cooked for us (Amila is a great chef!), and even took us surfing. If we needed privacy they gave it to us, but at the same time we never felt left on our own. If we ever go back to Hikkaduwa we know we'll be staying here!

    Mishkin2016-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Such a brilliant stay. Amila and Hannah were great host and really go the extra mile to make you feel at home. We were invited to eat at Amila's parents' place during our stay giving us the opportunity to taste delicious Sri Lankan food. The apartment is perfect, with a really comfortable bed. Staying at Banana Leaf you get the best of both worlds, really close to the beach and the walk there is filled with beautiful exotic birds and glow worms at night. Would highly recommend.

  • We hade a pleasant stay at Amila and Hannah's place. They were friendly and helpful. 'Lovely outdoor kitchen, about 20min walk to the beach/restaurants area or a quick tuktuk drive (150rupees)

    Robin2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is the 2nd visit at The Banana Leaf apartments and for good reason. It is superb. The setting around the villas allow you to relax and take in the nature. Monkeys playing around you is a pretty special thing to see from your living room (patio here). The apartment itself is stunning. Very stylish and super comfortable. Beats any hotel you can find and away from the hustle in Hikkaduwa. Hannah and Amila make the best hosts. They simply can't do enough for you. It is easy to understand why they are super hosts...thank you both for an amazing time. We are trying to work on our next opportunity to say hello! It's perfect.

    Andrew2017-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amila and Hannah were great, the apartment was well equipped and in a peaceful jungle location. It was a short tuktuk ride from the shops and the beach. A real home from home. Thank you guys hope to see you again....

  • We stayed out last two nights with the amazing hosts Amila & Hannah We were looking for a quiet end to our stay in Sri Lanka and this was perfect!! The apartment was beautiful!! Lovely open kitchen, very well designed rooms It was in a lovely quiet area away from busy Hikkaduwa but near enough for a lovely walk down a quiet road, or Amila and Hannah were kind enough to arrange us a tuk tuk if we were feeling lazy We felt very welcome at banana leaf! And very comfortable Lovely hot shower! And the AC Was a blessing with the humidity Lovely to wake up with all The nature in the morning Thanks for a wonderful stay!

  • Amila & Hannah were perfect hosts. They told us about all the local places we otherwise wouldn't have known about. The place was clean, comfortable & close to everything. We would happily stay at Banana Leaf Apartments again.

  • We absolutely loved our 3 night stay at Nuga Eden! Our accommodation (the Red Villa) was great, quite cool at night due to the thick mud walls and we really enjoyed the outside shower and chilling on the veranda. The pool was amazing, as were the attentive staff. Probably my favourite part of the whole place were the gardens, where we saw lots of different animals (lizards, monkeys, parrots, raccoons) every day. I would really recommend a stop in Tangalle and at Nuga Eden.

  • Beautiful place. Everybody was so sweet and helpful. Loved the outdoor bathroom.

  • The Red Villa at the Nuga Eden guesthouse is the ideal place to relax and chill after a long road trip in the centre of the island. All the staff is helpful and welcoming, and can help you arrange everything you need. The room is clean and the outdoor bathroom is such a nice experience ! Couples but also families will enjoy a lot the Nuga Eden. Last but not least, the food is excellent, with a very good value for money (and the room also!). Sophie & Nicolas

  • Clive and Crew were really cool to us, they organized us a trip to see the turtles on Rekawa beach...the breakfast at the pool cafe was the shit!

    Mike2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • This location is fantastic! The villa is in the Nuga Eden resort, and it is approximately 20 metres from the pool, pool cafe, and a 5 minute walk (if that) from the beach. The room was amazing and the outdoor shower was so refreshing! We even saw a peacock from the outdoor shower (how exotic). Our favourite place so far, we spent our whole day by the pool. Food was amazing! 10/10 for this place.

  • We were greeted with a chilled glass of lime juice and our bags were taken to our room. The hosts were very friendly and asked whether we would be eating at the hotel. The room was very nice, we stayed in the wattle and daub hut in the grounds. It was a very comfortable bed and naturally cool. The infinity pool was excellent and offered a very nice view of the ocean and local beach. The food was delicious at the hotel, we had lunch. The local beach is beautiful and very quiet. There are also many highly rated restaurants nearby to try if you want a change of scenery. The host also arranged a car to our next destination in Sri Lanka at a very reasonable rate. Some comments complain about the nearby road, but it is not an issue at all. The road is set down from the hotel and was not busy at all during our visit.

  • Wow what a magical place, cute little treehouse with your own bathroom, quaint but spacious enough and everything you need. Samitha was such a great host attending to everything we needed. A 2 minute walk to one of the nicest beaches I have ever seen. Sleeping to the sounds of the ocean what more could you want. Don't think I can fault this place ! You must stay here if in Dikwella. Also amazing Sri Lankan breakfast every morning

  • Living in the Sea View Tree House for one week was a impressing trip to paradise. The Tree House is very comfortable, clean and is the perfect example for living  in a dream. Samitha is really a very friendly guy and he and his brother do not mind to do everything to give you a pleasent stay. For us Samitha also organized a trip to the Buddha temple nearby by Tuk-Tuk, and the driver also guided us through this impressive place of Buddhism. We will definitely come back to this place, we will not visit Sri Lanka without staying at Samitha's wonderful paradise, the Tree House! When you get up on the morning with the sun shining through one of the windows (you can also put a curtain in front of it if you really want to) and the very nice whisteling of several birds you get the feeling of paradise for the first time this day. The second feeling of paradise will come over you when you go to the balkony and assimilate the more than great view! On the left you will see the sun rising through the treetops of the jungle arround, while straight in the front the sea shows breaking waves on the stony coast. Next Samitha, the most friendly and helpful host I ever met, serves a great local breakfast which is definetely worth the experience! When you want to get the next feeling of paradise you just have to walk 5 mins to the awesome Hirikitya Beach also called Horseshoe Bay. This is the most beautyful bay I have ever been. Sandy ground even after walking tens of meteres into the sea and enough space to relax between some trees giving shadow. This bay is as good for starting to surf (with gentle waves in a straight line to the beach) as it is for more experienced surfers. But back to Samitha and the Tree House. Watching the sunset either from the balkony or from the rocks at the coast (2 mins walk) will totaly convice you of having arrived in paradise. What else to say, we slept very well the 7 nights we spent there. There is always a light wind in the room when you keep the windows opened which creates a wonderful temperature for sleeping. There is the possibility to use the washing machine in the appartement next door for just a very acceptable fee for electricity. Hanging up the stuff on clothinglines for drying is possible in the garden beneath the Tree House. So I strongly reccomend this place for staying as long as you can!

    Melanie2016-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a simple but amazing place to stay in Dikwella, go to the Seaview treehouse. The price/quality is definitely worth it. View over the sea and peacocks, monkeys, squirrels always pleased to meet you. The bed is big and comfortable. The bathroom is open to the bedroom. Everything is clean. You will have your breakfast by the sea. Diner (sri lankan curry) is also very good and portion is big. Concerning the location, you can't swim because of the rocks but go down the road and you'll find yourself in a beautiful private, small beach with 2-3 restaurants and boards to rent. Not very easy to find if you are alone but ask a tuktuk driver who knows the area (200/-). Best place to escape, I will go back !

  • We had two great nights at the tree house! It's very cozy with a great view and the house has everything you need. There ist also a small outdoor kitchen with a fridge you can use. We spend the days at Hiriketiya beach which is less than 5 minutes walk and absolutely beautiful! Only a few people and three nice restaurants right at the beach. The town of Dikwella has a lot of little shops in case you need to buy anything. There is also a bus station. Breakfast was very yummy too! We definitely recommend the place as it is quite an experience!

    Mona2016-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the little beach with nice waves for relaxed Longboarding.

    Christoph2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The tree house was really cool and close to a bit of wildlife which we liked but others may not, we had a friendly but not dangerous snake on the balcony one day! The staff are super friendly and welcoming and the vegetable curries were awesome! The fan is mounted on the other side of the room so it gets a bit hot but it's manageable, would recommend using their tuk tuk driver as it's a good price and doesn't mind going long distances.

    Joel2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is an awesome place. On your way back from the beach, it's a little way up the hill - but an easy five minute cruise down to what we'd pretty confidently call the best beach on Sri Lanka's south coast. Being up on the headland, there's a gorgeous view out to sea and two comfy chairs on the deck which we promptly sunk into upon arrival. We had a beautiful dinner by the beach and loved coming back to the treehouse for a snooze. One of the best things about the treehouse is the beauty of the greenery growing inside the treehouse itself - big beautiful green leaves right there sprouting from the tree! Samitha is great, the treehouse is beautiful, and above all else - get down to Hiriketiya beach before everyone knows about it. It's paradise.

  • The 3 nights stay in dream home was probably the best part of our Sri Lanka trip. It started with the warm welcome from Rani and Nandi, who manage the house and host our stay. In next 3days, we not only enjoyed this comfy home, its modern design, well functioned facilities and its beautiful garden, but experienced the local life style as well. Rani and Nandi are great people and really helpful whenever we needed anything. They tried to keep menu new everyday and prepared many different delicious local food for us. We learned a lot of knowledge about Buddhism and Sri Lanka culture from them. It was such an interesting and pleasant time. We would definitely come back next time.

  • Bryan's house is a beautiful, hidden and quiet place but only 10min walk to the Mirissa beach. We loved the garden a lot - it's huge space, well designed and maintained. We spent a lot of time sitting around the dinning table outdoor, enjoying the garden. There are two kitchens and full cooking equipment, even chopsticks - we made full use of them and cooked seafood meals during our stay. Bryan himself is responsive, and the helper Rani lives next door - unlike a lot of the stay-in-home helpers, Rani used to be a local teacher and speaks fairly good English. She helped us a lot, and taught us to separate plastic and non-plastic garbage. The only problem is that there's no AC, though it's quite cool at night, my parents still felt a bit hot during sleep.

    Chersy2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is an idyllic place with the most beautiful garden in lush, quiet surroundings within easy reach of Mirissa beach, and not far from Galle. Rani the local host is simply wonderful, and her cooking is exquisite. I very much hope to be back again before too long.

  • We would like to say THANK YOU Bryan for confirming reservation very quick, for answering on time on all my questions I had prior to arrival. He helped to arrange an arrival transfer, driver was waiting outside with a name board so we easily found him. House was ready for early check-in, we arrived very early(around 8am). This is was our dream vacation and I am so glad I booked this Dream House, everything was AMAZING. House is very comfortable, unique. Very green and well taking care backyard, with a terrace and hammocks, outdoor shower and small lounge in the back where you can enjoy the nature of this beautiful country and area. Every day you will wake up with a beautiful sunrise and peacock voices around, monkeys jumping from one tree to another, just a short walk to a private fruit plantation. It's only 5-7 minutes walking distance from beautiful, less touristic Mirissa beach. If you looking for quite, nature and modern with sri lankas decor house, this is place definitely for you and your family. Great for family and party of 6 people. From my family we would like to say big THANK YOU for wonderful host Rani and Nandi, for their hospitality and love they hosted us with. Every breakfast and lunch/dinner were delicious, we tried a lot of different local food, they very kind and pay attention to all details. They helped us to organized all transfers(Mirissa to Ella), plan out excursions, rent a Tuk Tuk, gave us to try fruits from fruit plantation, thanks for your smile and kind, we will miss you! Hopefully we will see you again, and welcome to Russia at any time. This is was our dream vacation in DREAM HOUSE in MIRISSA! So happy

  • Great place to use as a base for exploring Galle. Old colonial style Villa with nice swimming pool, was a great way to end our Sri Lanka trip. Ruvinda was really helpful and also helped with arrangements back to Colombo. Easy to contacts and happy to help! It's a short walk to the fort and we just took a tuk tuk back. Was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle and heat of the fort. Would recommend for couples and families!

  • I can't find any shortcoming there. The hosts are very nice and well educated, they waited for us until very late and warmly welcome us. The exterior is wonderful and interior is amazing. The rooms are clean and spacial with romantic decoration. The host made delicious breakfast for us and chat with us cheerfully. Cozy nest is a perfect place to stay in galle. You won't be regret if you stay here.

  • We had an amazing stay at Cost Nest and Galle. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in Galle. Beautiful garden and a bonus having the pool to cool off. A quick walk to Galle Fort or easy to catch a tuk tuk to Unawatuna beach. The hosts were very accomodating, cooking us delicious breakfast each morning. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. We will hopefully be back!

  • We had an amazing stay at CozyNest. Ruvinda's family were warm and hospitable. They gave us a lovely welcome when we arrived and served up a beautiful breakfast every morning (the strong tea and fruit juices were a highlight). The house is in a great spot, beautifully renovated and a pleasure to wake up in every day. Great value for money. The only minor thing to flag is that for anyone who wants to cook in the kitchen there is a $10 fee, and ditto a $5 charge per wash.

    Eleanor2016-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Ruvinda and his family were wonderful. They went out of their way to add extra touches to make our family Christmas holiday very special. Gamini, the caretaker was so helpful too. Wonderful place - I would thoroughly recommend it!

  • Cozy Nest is one of the best villas I've stayed in. It's really tastefully done and they pay attention to detail. Like the handwritten welcome board with your name when at the entrance when you check in, the beautiful furniture (everything is unique and lovely), the glass shampoo bottle in the bathroom - every nook and corner has been thought of carefully. The pool is really clean and a great place to spend an afternoon doing nothing. The hosts are very lovely as is the caretaker. I'd definitely come back here.

Wigi's villa is our family home has been rebuilt as a gorgeous beach front home to inspire and rejuvenate. This Bawa-inspired redesign, features thoughtfully designed, beautiful rooms and wonderful shared open spaces. The villa is finished to a high standard throughout and staffed by our friendly, welcoming team. The beach garden is a magical place from which to enjoy the sun and sea, with sea views and stunning snorkelling and safe swimming on the doorstep.
An oasis of peace and tranquility in the lively and much loved beach resort of Hikkaduwa. This is an ideal location for families or a group of friends in search of a location for a special trip. Step from our garden on to the beach, access to snorkeling, surfing and more. Five luxury AC bedrooms – two upstairs overlooking the sea and three on the ground floor - all with mosquito nets for those who wish to use them. All have king size double beds (one has twin beds) and spacious ensuite bathrooms with walk in monsoon style showers. For larger groups we can consider providing a few extra mattresses / camp beds for children. There are two stunning open areas – one opening onto the garden – which is wonderful spot for slackline-ing or sunset viewing. The garden is finished with a gorgeous pool – with an area for kids. The location of the Villa means that you can walk to all the restaurants and bars in Hikkaduwa / Narigama or take a tuk tuk. This is our family home, originally our grandparents' and in the family for over 70 years with deep ties to Hikkaduwa. My mother and her brothers and sister grew up here, before the early intrepid Australian visitors made their early surfing trips in the 50s and 60s. My parents' great project was rebuilding the home ten years after the tsunami, we are now very proud to share this touch of serendipity with families and travellers from all over the world. Very rewarding that so many have already had such memorable holidays here.
First, just chill out in the lounge, the birds can be quite active at roosting time but they soon go to sleep and your left to the sounds of the ocean. Next take a walk on the beach - head to your left and around the Coral Gardens hotel when the tides is out and you can walk till there is pretty much just palms and sand (thats a long walk!) Swimming and snorkeling is best directly in front of the house in the calm area area of sea protected by the reef, while bigger waves for those who like a more adventurous experience and to try their hand at surfing or kite-surfing is accessible 1.5km further towards Galle at Narigama, the sister-town of Hikkaduwa. The surf schools, shopping boutiques, and some great local food restaurants are a five minute ride in a tuk tuk, which we can arrange for you, or a 20 minute walk up the beach when the tide is low enough. Here are a few of our favourite places to eat and drink. In Hikkaduwa and Narigama: •The Starfish - next door is run by my aunt's family as is a quiet, romantic spot for a simple, well prepared dish. •Aroma – about a 5 min walk along the main road is this great local family run (also three brothers and their parents) restaurant. Good local food, we have arranged so that you can order from their menu and have the food delivered at ours. •Mama's – been around for years, good choice for classic beach fare. •Spaghetti House – really good Italian on the other side of town – good 25 min walk or grab a tuk tuk. Fresh and authentic – makes a real change. •Nordic House – good burgers in this Swedish co-owned roadside restaurant. •The Rotty Shop – there are a number – the original is probably the best. Cheap and cheerful. Further afield: •The Lighthouse Hotel (between Hikkaduwa and Galle), excellent hotel with a broad ranging menu and top chefs. •The Sunhouse [Places in Galle] – enchanting colonial style location for a G&T or another sundowner of your choice. We really enjoy spending a day in Galle – wandering around the fast changing Fort area, which offers a blend of the old and the new emerging tourist scene. There are also day trips to Lunuganga – an architectural gem designed by Geoffrey Bawa, where they also do a very good lunch. There are good running routes inland which take you away from the bustle of the main road. We would also recommend the Reef End Surf school if you fancy renting a surf board or getting a lesson. Lyndon at Kailash Yoga runs a demanding yoga class daily, and some of his team teach gentler classes at Kailash Apartments in Narigama.
  • Travelled as a group of 10 to this beautiful residence. The sound of waves, garden view and the continuous breeze from the beach are to die for ! Rooms and bathrooms are quite big, with comfortable beds and hot showers. Sri Lankan breakfast served was amazing. Manjula is a great host and ensured all our needs were looked after. Diving schools, restaurants and scooter rentals all available right outside. We loved the stay and could barely find any negatives. Staying in this villa was the best decision of our vacation!

    Ghaleb2016-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Villa was fantastic. It's truly a stunning place, directly on a beautiful stretch of beach right on Hikkaduwa beach. It's huge with a large open floor plan and nicely furnished and finished. Bedrooms are huge and the upstairs rooms walk out onto a deck overlooking the ocean. The best part (for our group) was the pool, which is very nice for a swim and to hang around in the day or at night (looks very cool lit up at night). Also, the Sri Lankan breakfasts we're delicious and Azar helped us find everything we needed including groceries, taxis, scooties, etc. The Villa is right in Hikkaduwa which was a nice beach town and about 30 min drive to Galle which has a cool fort and more nice beaches. Overall I would highly recommend this place for a trip to Sri Lanka. It was very hard to leave the Villa. Matt

    Matthew2015-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • It is a really nice choice for a trip. Dharshan and his team are very circumspective. They nearly take everything that can make us comfortable into consideration. The villa has a homelike atmosphere. The view from villa is perfect also. Thank you for offering us a excellent experience.

  • This is a gorgeous house in just about the most prime spot in Hikkaduwa. We had a large family gathering and the house held us comfortably while still giving each group their privacy. The common areas and yard are wide and spacious and have a lovely constant sea breeze. The design of the house is really lovely. The staff was also extremely helpful and prepared some of the tastiest food we've had in Sri Lanka. The house sits right on the beach and is protected by a locking gate. Directly in front of the house is the prime snorkeling spot in Hikkaduwa. You can literally stand in the shallows and put your face in the water and see hundreds of fish. Communication with Dharshan was very good. He always responded immediately and was very helpful throughout. Our family was thrilled with the house and the overall experience. I would highly recommend staying here if you're ever in the area

  • What a wonderful stay in this place! Had we spent more time here, we would have more fun and relax time in Sri Lanka. Efficient communication from Dharshan and Nagulan from beginning; Friendly and welcoming staff; Clean and spacious room; Good facilities. It is a well managed villa. And what's more, the chef cooked fish we bought from market, very nice. Thank you all, we do enjoy our time in this villa, everthing is perfect. I would strongly recommend this villa.

  • We were 10 of us in this beautifull house. The house has big volumes open to the sea. It was perfect for us and the kids with a big swinningpool. We definitely enjoyed this place. Achard's familly

  • We had a great stay at Dharshan's. The villa is superb with big garden and pool. The beach in front of the villa was great for snorkeling. The team managing the villa were very friendly and didn't hesitate to help with our special requests for my 1 year old son. Thx for a perfect stay and hope to see you again.

  • What can I say! Wigi's Villa is the perfect place to stay for a family holiday in Sri Lanka. The house is beautiful with a view to die for over looking the sea and sunsets in the evening. The beach is on your doorstep, so are some great restaurants and shops. The food cooked by Manju and the team in the house is amazing as well. So delicious! Amazing breakfast and we would recommend you definitely go for the Sri Lankan option! The Villa is kept very clean and the rooms are all fantastic. We could not fault our stay. Perfect in every way and great for kids. Thank you so much to the wonderful friendly staff.

We give the guests a homely feeling and privacy
Safe & Peaceful neighborhood, but there are few building work happening next to our neighbors , some times the noise can be heard. Since we are so close to beach , The waves make bigger sound than that.
  • Praveen and the villa staff was very kind and hospitable. Breakfast was delicious and our stay was absolutely great. The house was so unique, comfortable and clean. It was everything we expected and more. The location and beach scene was perfect, perfect, perfect :). Highly recommended!

  • The house is awesome, the structure of the house infuse nature element in. Their caretakers is very friendly also, the moment we arrive they asked us do we want to barbecue that night, they can prepare for us. The pool is smaller in real life, but at night u can see some glitter like things in the pool, look like reflection of the star. I read some review about the house cleanliness, to be fair, the house is right in front of the beach , due to the sea breeze, most if the things is sticky, although they clean everyday.i would advised to close ur room door always when u stay there.

  • Three bedrooms, private pool and 3 seconds away from the beach - Hikks Villa was fantastic value for money. I had a wonderful weekend away from reality at Hikks Villa along with my family. Jayantha and Nimal were super attentive to our needs. Thanks for a great weekend. The only problem I had was with cleanliness of the villa. It would have been a perfect weekend if the hygiene was not an issue. Nevertheless, I look forward to coming back!

    Nida2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • It is a cute villa located right by the ocean. It has all the basic amenities and a pool where you could chill the entire day. The caretakers are prompt and help you with what you require.

  • An absolutely fantastic place to stay at! Scenic and gorgeous! The place itself was well maintained and quite spacious and fun. The service provided was first rate! The helps were gracious, helpful and completely friendly. We had an awesome time at Hikks Villa and for sure will be returning soon!

  • The environment of villa is good and neat. Thank the house keeper rizwan very much, who prepare us great breakfast and send our missing item to fort after we check out.

    Xiangyu2016-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • A lovey little villa for our visit to Galle. It's not in the fort, and is about 5 minutes from the main town, but it's easy to get to either location by three-wheeler or private vehicle. The villa was clean, modern and well-designed with comfortable rooms and ample living space. The housekeeper Rizwan is a gem - he looked after our every need, made sure we were fed and had everything we needed, and really helped to make our stay memorable. All in all, a visit that exceeded expectations, and one we'd happily repeat.

    Nuwan2017-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • We are so blessed to have come across Sana and Rizwan. Our stay couldn't be more pleasant and the hospitality was just so great. Oh but I did wished there was a dryer so that Travelers like us who travel with kids can easily have our clothes washed and dried promptly. The location is great with nearby supermarkets and eateries. The location is also away from traffic which is fantastic yet it is still convenient to get to Galle Fort. Rizwan is a fantastic cook and just so accommodating. Best of all, the villa is clean and the water pressure is superb. Thank you again for the great stay.

    Natasha2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • A nice house with a nice house keeper. The location is 2.5km from the ancient city, and it's quite convenient to catch a tuktuk. The house keeper is quiet but can offer us useful information. Highly recommend. Delicious breakfast with sausage! The only drawback is that the house is located in the Muslim area so the sound of pray in the broadcast will wake you up early in the morning.

    Xiangrong 2016-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice house, clean, safe, comfortable

    Phillip2016-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Is a design feeling a big house, we spent two big room, six squeeze each bed can sleep 3 people, one room with a sofa bed can sleep two people. Set very modern, especially have a comfortable bath, water yield and temperature can adjust, super good. This is a very suitable for family travel live in villa. Have you can use the kitchen, basic kitchen utensils and tableware from soup to nuts, a microwave oven, refrigerator, juicer, pan, refrigerator, etc., kitchen condiment is very full. Special need to praise the housekeeper, although English is not very convenient to communicate, but he silently arrange everything, including local cooked food for us, for our two days morning Fried eggs, eggs, bread and baking bread. A bit sorry it's time to go a little out, forget to tip the housekeeper, so can only say sorry. Fly in the ointment is the house which the FORT three kilometers, foot is a bit far, but generally go rent a car or by turning a car is very convenient. Overall house price is pretty high, strongly recommend choosing the pursuit of modern, comfortable friend.

Peacock Villa is situated in the area surrounding peacocks and large vegetable gardens preserving the nature and green surroundings. It's away from the hustle and bustle and only 5 minute walk to the popular Mirissa Beach. Significant happy reviews from the past guests hints why one should never miss Peacock Villa, it's super clean, well equipped rooms and our hospitality and a highest comfort level for a stress-free, friendly, relaxing, genuine, unobtrusive, authentic Sri Lankan stay!
All rooms are well equipped and have attached bathrooms, ceiling fans, one single bed and a one king size double bed, hot water, free WiFi, free bottled water, free tea bags, luxury bedding, mosquito net and electronic mosquito repellent, multi sockets for electricity, mini fridge, hair dryer, basic room amenities towels and toiletries, and many more.
  • What a lovely place to stay! This was our 5th and final accommodation after a busy 2 weeks travelling around sri lanka. It was a perfect place to be able to relax by the beach. Peacock villa is wonderful, comfortable and very spacious, and a lovely large balcony. Charindu is very welcoming and has thought of all sorts of little details. The room is finished to a very high standard. Would definitely recommend.

    Phillipa2016-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • No words could give justice to the beauty of this top floor villa! We were amazed as we were shown into our room. Upon arrival Charindu made us feel very welcome and at ease. Located about a 15min walk from the main beachside strip means you are far enough away to feel remote yet close enough to activities and restaurants. Creating quite a romantic hideaway. The villa was exceptionally clean and very modern. It won't take long to spot a peacock from your rear balcony. Amazing :) Thanks Charindu

    Aaron2015-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was fine and i can recommend this place! It's very clean, Charindu is a very nice host and always very helpful.

    Janine 2015-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • A villa with all kinds of exotic plants and animails. Really I have seen peacocks and parrots in the garden. Host was so nice to book whale watching with lowest cost and send us to Mirissa Harbor in the early morning. It's very close to the sea and bus station. Good experience in Mirissa!

    Echo2015-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Peacock Villa is a piece of Heaven. The place is surrounded by beautiful trees, you can hear the sound of nature instead of the noises of Mirissa and it's only 5 minutes walk from the beach and really close to Dewmini restaurant, one of the best places where to eat in town... very good location. My room was great! I stayed in the non-AC room on the first floor, I enjoyed it a lot because it has a nice and wide balcony with a view on the forest, it's really peaceful and good to relax. In the room you can find everything you may need (toiletries, towels, torches etc.) and in the common area there are board games you can use. I didn't miss AC since the fan does its job and it's not so hot as you may imagine. Everything around the Villa is neat and well maintained, the room was really clean also. Charindu and his family are wonderful hosts, they were really nice with us, they helped us and gave us many tips, me and my boyfriend were very impressed with their kindness. I would definitely recommend this place, don't miss it!

    Elisa2016-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wouldn't hold any recommendation living in peacock villa as for one you truly get to see the peacock and the goat, Salto the dog, and many other amazing creatures. For the other, you got to meet the loveliest person in the world which is the owner. It's truly my fondest memory in Siri Lanka. Me and my mom really appreciated our time staying.

    vivian2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Peacock Villa is a lovely place to stay! It's a few mins from the beach which makes it much more relaxed and peaceful. The rooms are gorgeous and more comfortable than other rooms I have stayed in in Sri Lanka. The staff are dedicated, meticulous and very friendly. They even clean all the windows every time they have a new guest! Stay here - it's great!

    Helen2016-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is the best place we have got in Sri Lanka. The room is quite clean, tidy and comfortable with good facilities, ans we stay there for two nights. The host is really nice, serving us with drinks when arrived, and helping us solve any problems. Only 5mins' walking distance from the beach making it the perfect place. 话不多说,无敌赞的villa,谁住谁知道!

Our natural beach cabana with attached bathroom and ocean views is the perfect place for a relaxed beach holiday . The cabana has everything you need and is situated in a quiet area close to the tourist town Hikkaduwa. From here you can explore the area!
We have a cozy, wooden beachfront Cabana available for rent. The cabana is made from wood. It has an attached, modern bathroom with walk through closet. It is featured with a fan, mosquito net, mirror, mini fridge and sitting area. The water tank is on the roof and the tank gets hot during the day from the sun so the water is always warm unless it's raining! The cabana is right at the ocean, on top of the Thambili Cafe kitchen, peaceful and quiet, perfect to relax to the sound of the Ocean. Galle Road is behind and you are only 3km away from the tourist town Hikkaduwa. Our accommodation is unique due to its natural style, atmosphere and privacy. You are surrounded by nature, the birds and the ocean. You will love it! During the season from November until April we run a small beach café Thambili Cafe which you can see from the balcony. You can order yummy dishes but are not disturbed by the Café activities. Even so the cafe is closed during the off season you can get breakfast here if you wish for a small extra cost. Public and private transport is right outside the door on Galle Road. We also have our own air-conditioned Van and can arrange transfers, excursions and tours around the the beautiful Island of Sri Lanka for you. You can rent bicycles or a scooter from us to explore the surrounding area. The jungle stars just behind the railway line 100m inland and you can see lots of wildlife there.
Our cabana is situated in a quiet, safe neighbourhood with private houses and Boutique Hotels. In walking distance to the main tourist area with surf spots, bars, restaurants and shops.
  • This cabana is a great place to stay in Hikkaduwa. It's right on the beach with great views across the ocean. You can fall asleep to the sounds of the waves. Ruwan and his staff were so friendly and welcoming - making sure our stay was one to remember! We visited waterfalls, moonstone mines and saw wild turtles on the beach. We would thoroughly recommend the cabana - we miss it already!

    Jessica2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my husband went there expecting the place to be like it looked in the pictures, but we were disappointed. It was really dingy, dark and not so clean. Also the pictures make it look much bigger than it really is. It is right on the beach but the neighbourhood didn't seem habitable or even safe for that matter. We finally decided to not stay there and left to look for another place. It ended up wasting a couple of hours of our time and we didn't even get any refund from airbnb. After seeing a few more places we realised how over priced this cabana was. Maybe it is a good place, but not to our taste. Ruwan was helpful though and helped us look for other places to stay.

    Chitralekha2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous beach! In quite corner of Hikkaduwa if you want to have privacy. Big crowds are walking distance away. Where you can find all kind of different restaurants with good food. Thambili cafe has a cheerful crew who make your stay comfortable. There is a busy road behind the cabana but it's like that in almost all accommodation in Hikkaduwa. And once again very nice beach. :)

    Maile2016-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying in Ruwan's cabana for a week. It's in a perfect location - right on the beach but a bit down from the main section of town which made it nice and relaxing. The cabana has heaps of room and is clean and very well looked after. Having the cafe below was nice because we could stay in for something to eat or head into town. It was great to have a choice! The breakfast was particularly delicious. Ruwan and his partner Linda were fantastic hosts. They really went out of their way to accommodate us and show us around Hikkaduwa. They even took us on a day trip to Galle which we really appreciated. Linda teaches yoga nearby which my girlfriend loved. We definitely recommend staying at Ruwan's beach cabana!

    Tim2013-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We are a couple 50+ and 50++ and stayed one week with Ruwan and Linda. The welcoming was very nice with drink and refresh towel. Both owners are very friendly and we enjoyed our stay very much. The cabana is basic but all you need are there. The beach, only a few meters away is beautiful and clean. Strong wawes however. Fan and breeze from the ocean very nice and sufficent.

    Göran2015-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place with great cafe below serving lovely food on a beautiful quiet part of the beach.

    Jo2016-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great and relaxing time at Ruwans place at the beach. So nice, that we stayed to 2 nights longer then we booked. In the morning we got a great breakfast for a good price. It's close to Hikkadawu and they offer a cheap bycicle rent, so we rented them for 6 days.

    Elizabeth2015-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 nights in the beach cabana from Ruwan and Linda. It was a short, but very relaxing time. The cabana is very clean and comfortable. You can find everything you need and you quikly feel like home. The view to the sea is beautiful and we loved to hear to the noise of thewind and the waves in the evening! Ruwan we saw not often, he was very busy at this time. But when he saw us, he always asked, if everything is ok or if we need something. But we had some very good conversations with Linda. She was very friendly and helpful. We could give our clothes for washing. That was very practically=) If we once come back to Sri Lanka we will choose this cabana again=) Ruwan and Linda, thank you very much for everything, it was a very nice time! • The apartment of Dilash was really great. There was everything you need, it was very clean, spacious rooms, the living room/balcony was awesome to relax and you could see and hear the ocean from there. The beach - 2 minutes of walking - was one of the best we have seen. Long, clean, beautiful palms and we were almost alone there. For us, it was the best choice for our last days in Sri Lanka. Dilash was the perfect host - he really wants us to have a good time and gave us tips all around the area. We always kept in contact during our stay. Would highly recommend it.

    Tina2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice apartment! Close to a beautiful beach where you can swim. Dilash organized a beautiful evening for our anniversary and he drove us to the airport. We had a really good stay. Thanks!

    Corinna2017-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the cocoon during 10 days and it was sadly way too short! The apartment is located at just 2 minutes walk from a wonderful and spacious beach with very few tourists. You will find amazing people along the shore where you can have cheap coconuts and diners on the beach... Really worth it! Ambalangoda is a very quiet and safe neighborough and you can easily travel to the south and north (special mention to Puncha, the best tuk tuk driver!!) and even go to the mountains with the train station just 15 minutes walk away. The apartment is perfect for 4 people, the bedrooms, living room and bathroom were clean and even if there is no air condition, the electric ventilation just above the beds and the natural breeze will keep the temperature down at night. As for the host, Dilash, he was always available to help us, make recommandations and answer our questions. Huge thanks to him and all the amazing people we met and were so eager to help us. It was an unforgettable stay and we were really sad to leave! Do not hesitate, if you are looking for a relaxing place with few tourists, a beautiful beach and a good location to the famous spots, this place is for you!

    Elise2016-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Dilash went to the trouble of fetching us at Colombo Airport. He made a huge effort to make us feel welcome.

    Albert2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Dilash's place in Ambalangoda was a great little rest stop for me.The apartment was well located just outside of the main town,it was of a decent size and was only a couple of minutes away from a a couple of small quiet isolated beaches, perfect for me or any other Robinson Crusoe type.Dilash himself was a great host, always smiling and just generally full of positive spirit and life.I would highly recommend this place to stay in,especially for those who want to see a little of a local, workday town, away from all the crowds of tourists, that you otherwise find in the larger resort towns. And for the price, you could not want much more.

    mark2015-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We searched for a long time before finding this gem of a place. If you are searching for a private, cosy apartment to relax and enjoy the empty, beautiful beach in front of you, then this is the place for you. You are in and amongst the kind hearted locals. The apartment is newly renovated and extremely well maintained. You are a skip and a hop from the perfect sandy beach and if you want the luxuries of massages, the hotel two doors down has it all. WIFI is fast! Our host Dilash arranged pick up and dropped us off personally. He has gone above and beyond to make our stay simply perfect and offered us incredible tips for the experience that tourists might otherwise not find. He is simply amazing. You will love it here. BOOK!

    İhsan2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Dilaish is very friendly host, he tried his best to make us feel comfortable and welcome. House has a very amazing sea views, hot nice shower. To get around you will probably want to use tuk tucks, as town centre is a 15-20 min walk along the road, but took tucks are very cheap. Bedrooms are nice, though there are no windows, you get an extraction fan for ventilation, and we were keeping door to the main living area open, that gives you a nice sea breeze. There is a nice Ayurveda places nearby, as well as turtle sanctuary in Ambalangoda. Town is not very touristy place but there are a few places to eat. Rivr tours and mask museums.

    Liana2015-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time in Dilash’s apartment. It had the perfect balance of outdoor living with all the comforts you would expect. Every afternoon you’re treated to sea view sunsets through the coconut trees and the local beach is beautiful and secluded for the most part. Dilash was a fantastic host, easy to communicate with and went out of his way to make sure we experienced the best Sri Lanka had to offer. Even to the point of dropping work to guide us on a 3hr ride into the jungle to find hidden waterfalls. The whole experience really made our stay.

Are You Looking forward to explore amazing Galle city? Villa Raffaello is the ideal place to stay and get around all the interesting places in Galle. it is located in 2.5Km from the city center. 100m walking distance to the amazing Beach.

  • Great host and great hospitality. Went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and at home!

    Eric2017-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Located just outside of the main Galle town yet still on the busy and prime Galle-Colombo Road, Tharanga's home is elegantly designed to simplicity, offering a very clean and comfortable stay for groups of friends or families. The location is ideal for those seeking a spacious place outside Galle town, but within walking distance to an uncrowded beach, as well as some of the best spots in town including the Lighthouse and Tamarind Hill hotels and the can't-miss Galle Fort. The home has modern furnishings, with well air-conditioned rooms and a great front terrace and mini-garden that provides fresh air and light to the house. Enough space to park two SUVs within the gates of the house. The kitchen is small and decently equipped (but one doesn't need to cook at home given the plethora of restaurants at the nearby Fort). The outside bathrooms were a real tropical treat, and the polished cement floors a nice Sri Lankan touch!

  • The apartment is slightly out of the main Galle area and located on a rather busy road making it noisy during the night. It is spacious and could easily house 6 people. The beds are very firm and the linens are clean. The yard is well kept and offers a nice place for the kids to run around a bit. The host is very helpful in arranging rides.

  • Villa Raffaello was great spot for our holiday. Tharanga did a super job of making us feel welcome and relaxed. He also provides breakfast (continental and Sri Lankan - which is highly recommended.) The best part of the stay was our Seafood Beach Barbeque that Tharanga organised on Christmas Eve! Nothing can beat the taste, experience - really special evening. Tharanga went over and above by surprising us with a house decorated for Christmas on the 24th December. I would highly recommend this Villa for future stays. We will be back!!

  • Great host. Eager to be helpful. Really nice meals prepared for us on site. Need to take a Tuktuk to get to anything. Easy to do. Located on a busy road, but behind a wall, so noise is reduced. The sea is across the road and across an open lot. Not as good as other beaches but we did swim there.

  • Sanjaya was an amazing host. We stayed for 2 days in River Edge and the view from the cottage was exactly has depicted in the pics. The place itself is very calm and serene. Since Bentota was our last destination it was a perfect place to sit back and relax after the week long trip. Sanjaya and his family were very helpful and extended all their support when my year old nephew fell ill. In a foreign country where we didn't know anyone they helped us with the doc and other facilities and didn't charge a penny for it. It was as if we were staying with our extended family. This is more than what you expect in a BnB. We are really grateful to you for your support. Thank you Sanjaya.

  • A lovely, serene spot by the river with wonderful Sanjaya and his equally wonderful family. Delicious (and very filling!) food prepared by his mum, and even mangoes from their own mango tree! Of course we have to mention his awesome younger sister too :) Communication was very easy and Sanjaya helped us to get a tuk tuk to various places and arranged our onward to journey to Kandy with his uncle for a very reasonable price. I totally recommend Sanjaya's homestay for anybody seeking an authentic Sri Lankan experience in this cosy, tropical home.

    Marsha2016-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely great because of the care everything is done by his owner to make the guest at home and happy. Both room are great, even with an open air shower. The dogs are adorable companions, Sanjaya's family is warm and smily and we had great food. The presence of the river is soothing, so are the birds around, even monkeys in the trees if you are lucky. Sanjaya created a beautiful safe place that you can hardly want to leave.

  • Very nice place to stay and enjoy nature. The room we stayed was big and clean. Sanjay is a great and helpful guy. We made a boat trip with him which was really nice. We would highly recommend that accommodation!

    Sven2016-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • We met a true genuine host with a very generous and open minded family. A corner of paradise at the laguna to experience a real relaxing sri lankan moment. The beaches near by are perfect, and Sanji is full of suggestions when it comes to visiting the Bentota natural, cultural and architectural treasures. We just regreted one thing: not to come there ealier and spend more time there!

    Karim2016-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic 4 night stay at Sanjaya's who was the perfect host and demonstrated Sri Lankan hospitality at its finest. On arrival we found that we were upgraded to the room by the waters edge and it is well worth choosing the breakfast option which consisted of beautifully cooked traditional Sri Lankan food, toast and a lovely array of fruit brought by his mother. The first night brought a huge storm which lasted hours and sanjaya kindly offered us dinner as it's was too torrential to go out. His Mum made us the best food we've tasted in SL! As it's a small journey to the beach Sanjaya willingly sorted out tuk tuk rides which were never more than 10 minutes away. There were probably more mosquitoes here due to being close to the river but coils were supplied to keep them away. Ask about the boat trip which takes in the river and all the wildlife it has to offer, we saw crocodiles (small), eagles, monitor lizards and many more. Recommended.

    Matthew2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sanjaya and his family are the most WELCOMING hosts you could hope for. They treat you like one of the family. I loved every minute of my stay. The breakfast was fantastic, Shanti's massage was amazing and the location is just wonderful. I didn't want to leave. Bentota beach is lovely too. Completely unspoilt. The best beach I went to in Sri Lanka.

    Fiona2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The photos do not render this location justice. It is a beautiful private bungalow in a very large garden. Sanjaya and his family were very welcoming and kind, they provided great breakfast and local food, and Sanjaya is very knowleadgeable about the surroundings and can set you up with some great deals if you need it. I went for a boat tour in the mangroves he organized, it was well worth the experience. The bungalow itself is clean and fairly new, and comes with a kitchen if you wish to cook your meals.

Gura Cabana was created for beach lovers and their friends, Right on the beach at Hikkaduwa and within easy reach of the very best of Southern Sri Lanka. Gura Cabana is made by wooden and it is fully natural.
  • Was made to feel very welcome, lovely family Cooked the best curry ever. cabana is on the beach and is beautiful as long as you don't mind sharing with a few geckos , which I didnt! 15 minute walk to surf point and main bit of town. So quite apart from the sound of the sea which again I liked :) will be back. Thanks for having me

    Craig2016-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • I've been in Sri Lanka for 19 days so far and this has by far been my favorite accommodation. It's directly on the beach and quiet, but a short walk up the beach to Hikkaduwa if you want something more lively. It's a great place for relaxation. The restaurant next door is a quiet, chill little place featuring fresh, local produce with many, many vegetarian (or vegan) options... all of it very healthy. (We were only able to stay here one night, but ate at the restaurant 3 times.)

    Jill2016-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely experience. We stayed here for 3 days and these were our best 3 days in our entire stay in Srilanka. The location , service, feel of the entire place is beautiful. Gayaths sister makes great food too. We had breakfast on the beach.

    Sahana2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Gura Cabana is a fantastic place to stay!Gayath communicated how to find the place and his family were very welcoming and provided an amazing breakfast on request. The Cabana is a great place to get away from all the noise except the sound of waves crashing on the beach. The bedroom was well presented, clean and tidy. I'm sad not to be able to spend 2 weeks here, it is that good Highly recommended place to stay

    Martyn2016-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Gayaths sister Chami met us when we arrived, and she was really smiley and friendly, she took us to the hut which was gorgeous! After a long journey I went for a shower and I was thinking how nice it would be to have a cold drink.... and when I stepped out to our little beach spot there was a delicious freshly made fruit drink waiting for me! It was really clean and tidy, a huge comfortable bed, and the outlook to the sea was perfect. Although we were in between other houses it felt like we were in a secluded spot as we were set forward a bit with the palms masking what was beside us. In busy Sri Lanka it's hard to find little bit of bliss like this. Thank you!

    Eilidh2016-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabana is like described. Direct on the beach and away from all the trouble. The view from the balcony on the ocean is amazing. Unfortunately we didn't meet Gayath, but the family was very lovely and we got very good sri lankan breakfast. Also Gayath organized the transfer from the airport for us. The little cafe next door is also a very nice place with friendly stuff and good food and drinks. The homemade ginger beer is awesome! Please note: It was a little bit hard for us to sleep because of the sound of waves crashing (!) on the beach. If this is no problem for you (or you use good ear protection) there is no better place in Hikkaduwa :)

    Eike2016-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Although I did not get to meet Gayath, I had the most lovely experience. This cabana was an absolute dream. I can say I would most definitely stay again. The breakfast by the ocean was divine.

    Olivia2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Gayaths place was such an experience sitting outside having breakfast on the beach is something not to be missed

Very Spacious suite with a private plunge pool and modern comforts where time stands still as you enjoy the space nature and tranquillity in this very old Dutch colonial villa.
Nestled in the middle of a large lush garden with sprawling trees and picturesque scenery, our villa is only a 15 minutes drive from Galle Town, the most well-known coastal city in Southern Sri Lanka. Deliberately designed to provide ample space and relaxed privacy for its guests, it is a newly- restored 18th century two-storied building which offers two large suites, each with a private swimming pool and a jacuzzi/ bath tub. This suite -- Sunrise Suite -- obviously facing east, on first floor, is surrounded by long wide balconies. It also has 6 large windows and 3 double doors giving a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, jungles and paddy fields.
  • What a wonderful and memorable introduction to Sri Lankan hospitality! We are so grateful to Dinesh, Sumudu and their lovely children for making us so welcome during our stay. Not only was the accommodation everything we hoped for and more, but the experience of meeting such a warm, friendly family absolutely made our trip. The location is beautiful, and the suite itself every bit as stunning as the photos suggest - you really will be amazed. Sumudu's cooking is fantastic, she tried hard to cater for our tastes and her shark curry is delicious! Dinesh's helpful nature and unending patience really made us feel at home, and it was such a pleasure to wake up every morning and be greeted with beaming smiles and friendly conversation. Being on our first trip to Sri Lanka and having only booked our first few nights here of a 12 day holiday, we were also touched by the effort Dinesh made in taking time to help us plan the rest of our trip - not only organising transport, but going to great lengths to stay in contact after we left in order to help us find further accommodation and communicate with our non-english speaking driver. As if being a perfect host during our stay wasn't enough, we were amazed at the kindness he showed even after we had parted company. This is clearly a family who just love to meet, talk, and share their place with others from around the world, and of all the amazing places and people we met on our holiday, our time with Dinesh & Sumudu will be our fondest memory. We came to Sri Lanka to find beautiful scenery and meet beautiful people, and we found both of these things at the Hideaway. Rich & Vicks United Kingdom

  • Our stay was absolutely perfect. A beautiful hide away in the hills - we could watch monkeys from our veranda and there were hummingbirds! Sumudu and Dinesh were the perfect hosts. They went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The food they cooked for us was delicious! Also the bed was so comfortable. We look forward to returning!

  • Sumudu and Dinesh are the sweetest people we met in Sri Lanka. They go out of their way to ensure their guests are comfortable. They pretty much sort out everything for you. This place is a must stay to experience another side of the island. Where you can smell the fresh air every morning when you wake up.

  • I cannot recommend this place enough the family are wonderful, but also you have plenty of privacy as they are busy doing their things. The room/decking/pool/jacuzzi room are well designed and there is enough space for a whole dance studio in the bedroom, it's fabulous green and lush surroundings are very peaceful, breakfast is really really good every day different types of Sri Lankan dish (you can have continental too if you want ) and you can also have fresh coconut juice which is delightful and refreshing Transportation was good you can have a cheap tuktuk from the neighbour or the buses that go everywhere are a short 10 mins walk All round a great time , feeling really relaxed and rejuvenated Thanks again x

  • Thank you We loved our stay and will recommend to our friends and family - we will definitely be back. What a lovely family who made us feel very much welcome and at home. The next door neighbour is a tuk tuk driver too that charges cheaper than town tuk Tuks and is available on request. It made life very easy. It is only a $4 ride to town about 5 mins and very scenic. Definitely the best place to stay in Galle.

    Simon2016-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sumudu and Dinesh were really the best Hosts we had on our whole trip through sri lanka. The place is a beautifully furnished paradise to relax and enjoy the nature. We could watch all kinds of animals from our balcony and had monkeys playing on the Roof. Whenever we felt like going to the City or beach there was a nice tuktuk Driver bringing us and picking us up. On top of the great place and the wonderful People who run it the Food was also amazing which made our stay just perfect. If you come by Galle we can´t imagine staying at a better place and would definitely go again!!!

Cassia Hill is a grand, renovated colonial villa with modern luxuries and an infinity pool, on a secluded hillside with sweeping views and surrounded by tropical forest, 8 minutes from the coast. Sumptuously appointed, the villa is professionally staffed with a butler, chef, security, on-call massage and yoga, and an optional car and driver. A peaceful haven free of the coastal railway noise of beachside villas, but close enough to enjoy all that coastal Sri Lanka has to offer!
Cassia Hill is a newly renovated, grand colonial-style villa designed by George Cooper of Kahanda Kanda fame. Tastefully decorated with an eclectic mix of vintage Raj-era and modern furnishings, the villa is nestled in a tropical garden on a hillside with sweeping views, just 8 minutes from the coast. Enjoy sunset drinks on the sweeping verandah under lazily turning fans, or lounge in the infinity pool or hammock, to the sound of distant temple chants and the chattering of wildlife in the trees.
The villa is just outside a small village about 9 minutes from the coast, and 20-25 minutes from Galle Fort. Private, peaceful and secluded, but with easy access to the beaches, restaurants, and nightlife of Galle, Unawatune, Thalpe, Hikkaduwa, and Mirissa.

  • We went as a group of 13 and had an absolute blast! The property was absolutely beautiful and very well kept. Staff were always on hand and went out of their way to help us and ensure we had a good holiday. LeeAnn stayed in touch with us before getting to srilanka and helped us with local arrangements for transport, airport transfers, places to shop at etc. Highly recommended!

    Ruth2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • It's a beautiful home with rolling lawns, a pool and a fabulous view. We were a group of 6 ppl and we had a blast having breakfast by the pool every morning, playing all the board games in the house and having the lovely home cooked meals by the chef. LeeAnn was lovely to communicate with and answered all our queries. She even had gifts waiting for us for the festive season when we arrived at the house. Everything was very well organized! It's a perfect space for a late group!

    Shreya2016-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Cassia Hill lived up to our expectations and beyond... From the moment we booked to the moment we arrived, LeeAnn was great at responding to our questions. She gave great recommendations and helped us to organise our airport transfer with a trusted driver - he was so reliable we ended up using him for the entire length of our trip. Perched on the top of a hill, the villa is stunning, immaculately kept, well designed, and contains all the amenities you need as well as friendly helpful staff in Manoj, Roy, the helper and the security guards. The location is 10 or so minutes from Unawatuna and means you get all the peace and tranquility of the surrounding countryside which you can enjoy whilst relaxing in the infinity pool. The only downside of staying at Cassia Hill was forcing ourselves away from the clutches of its beauty to explore what the rest of Sri Lanka had to offer.

    Lewis2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. The villa itself is beautiful to look at and very well dressed throughout. The location is quiet and peaceful. It was only interrupted by the odd monkey eating Jack fruit in the nearby trees. Manoj the Butler went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. Attentive without being too much in your face. When my daughter was ill he personally drove us to the medical centre. Roy the cook was also good, excellent prawn curry. I was recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday. Only 10 min tuk tuk if you want to go to the beaches, Galle town etc I would highly advise visiting Wijaya Beach around 9am for swimming with turtles and amazing pizzas

  • We have been to Sri lanka several times but this house is totally out of this wrold, it was our best stay in SL ever so far. The house is right out of an architectural digest book, with greenary all around. Pictures dont do justice to the place especially in showcasing how massive it is in size. The service was top notch too with Manoj taking care of all our needs however outrageous with a smile and even anticipating our needs, he was and the whole team were fabulous. Over all it was one of the most memorable holidays of our lives. Thanks.

    Ninad2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • LOVED our stay. We were a little skeptical because it’s a new listing and there were no reviews, but we thought we’d give it a try for one night while we were in the Galle area. Gorgeous house and gardens, super-helpful staff, great cook and menu, really nice touches (premium soaps and good bedlinens), beautiful bathrooms and just really peaceful and relaxing. (Only suggestion would be to get some exercise equipment for the house.) Highly recommended!

    Julie2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Cassia Hill is an amazing find! The owners have done an amazing job with the renovation of the house. It felt like being in a Colonial-era mansion but with all the modern luxuries. We loved the views and the amazing bird-life, and the staff were very kind and attentive. It was nice to be in a very peaceful and relaxing setting, but to have the beach and Galle Fort just a short hop away. Wish we had stayed longer!
