  • Becky’s place is gorgeous. It’s a spacious spot that’s quiet and relaxing. The bath was amazing and the decking was perfect to watch the sun go down with a cheeseboard. The bed was comfy, the kitchen had it all and we enjoyed the local town. Definitely coming back!

    Jessica2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived, at this little piece of paradise, after a long, hot drive . We were greeted by a cooling grape vine covering the veranda and as we stepped inside the cottage ducted aircon refreshed us. The juxtaposition of old and new in this historic cottage was fabulous. We loved the wide wooden floorboards, high ceilings, well appointed kitchen, the lighting, the art. The olive oil, sourdough bread and red wine vinegar. Yum . The bedroom with fireplace, ceiling fan, fabulous king size bed with romantic mosquito net canopy, again a fireplace in the bedroom, and then the climax of it all , another adjoining room with a huge oval spa bath, set on wide timber floorboards, in front of its own fireplace . Quirky art & sculptures adorning the walls, romantic dimmable lighting. The bathroom was well appointed & immaculate. Double french doors opened onto a private covered deck overlooking a park of sorts. A prefect romantic getaway. Becky is a super friendly host. And nothing was too much trouble . We were visited by a brown hen, who sat on our lap and asked for a cuddle . Ample restaurants & antique shops nearby . We can’t wait to return !! Next time we will stay longer .

  • This getaway is so niche! Nicky was a wonderful host providing us with breakfast for the morning, be sure to order from her bakery (the chocolate cherry cake is fantastic). Everything was perfect for a quiet, tech free retreat. The sound of rain and a crackling fire made us never want to leave. Will be back for sure!

    Jessica2020-04-28T00:00:00Z

Watendlath Cottage is a self-contained newly refurbished weatherboard cottage located on a 5 acre property with attractive views of the surrounding ranges. Guests are welcome to explore all parts of the property which features magnificent stone and gabion walls, established gardens (and some still under construction). The Cottage is fully equipped for self-catering and is suitable for short to long stay guests . Home is strictly smoke and pet free.
The 2.5 acre kangaroo sanctuary is populated by Western Grey, Eastern Grey and Red Kangaroos. These were all rescued as joeys and, under South Australian law, cannot be free-released. Guests may not access the sanctuary area but are welcome to explore the perimeter fence and engage with the residents, many of whom willingly approach the fence. Guests are also invited to view the feeding of the kangaroos each evening and may also, on request, watch the bottle-feeding of the small joeys. Wild kangaroos also regularly visit the property as do koalas on occasion. Guests can go anywhere on the property (other than the sanctuary) and enjoy walks to look at extensive stone and gabion walls. There are a number of established gardens and a number more being developed. Guests have unrestricted access to the vegetable and herb gardens. There are also a couple of aviaries featuring Australian parrots and finches.
The Cottage is located 4kms north of the historic town of Strathalbyn, 50 kms south east of Adelaide in the middle of the lovely Fleurieu Peninsula. Strathalbyn was founded by Scottish settlers in 1839 and the historic High Street has preserved the beautiful buildings reflecting its 180 years of tradition. Lovely cafes, pubs and antique shops make this destination which will delight you. Strathalbyn also has a more modern shopping area with a Woolworths supermarket, butchers, bakeries, hardware stores, petrol station, chemists, banks and a post office. For more extensive shopping, Mount Barker is only 15 minutes away and offers a multi-screen cinema, shopping centres and cafes. We are close to the celebrated wine region of Langhorne Creek featuring Lake Breeze, Bremerton. Bleasdale and Temple Bruer and only 30 minutes from McLaren Vale. The historic village of Hahndorf is 30 minutes away and Goolwa with swimming, surfing and winter whale-watching is also a 30 minute drive with Victor Harbor just a little further.
  • Lovely peaceful location , friendly dogs and roos, very well appointed

    Mick2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Diane place was everything you could want and more, located on the same property as Diane's we were greeted by two very well-behaved friendly dogs. The house itself can easily fit 4 adults and 2 children with a plenty of privacy, which we have found rare. The kitchen shows thought was put into the place from the layout of the house to the accessories in the kitchen and bathroom (for example the stationary tin/ bottle opener was not missing). Diane was also kind enough to leave some breakfast, which was much appreciated after a long drive from Melbourne. Overall the house was a rare find and located perfectly for a weekend away for a group of friends or family. We would highly recommend this Airbnb for all that are looking.

    Charlotte2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and were made very welcome at Diana and Michael's idyllic accommodation. It was just perfect in every way, spacious, extremely comfortable and great value for money. Delicious breakfast was provided, and we loved watching the wildlife and enjoyed the beautiful views. Beautifully appointed Studio type accommodation with over length queen size electric bed with massage cycle. All normal B&B facilities inc TV, Fridge, Air con, close to town centre and 30 mins from Adelaide CBD. Own bathroom, shared laundry... enjoy.
Studio apartment is in a quiet hills location, a self contained part of a 50s' stone and brick residence, faithfully being renovated to retain that 50s' feel and surrounded by beautiful garden. A four year old Aussie Shepherd female dog (Betts) is always on hand to greet guests
Mt Barker is a town of about 30,000 people located in the Adelaide hills, accessed by a free-way about half an hour from the centre of Adelaide. This location is ideal for guests coming from the eastern states who don't wish to tackle the traffic of Adelaide at the end of a days drive. Being a smaller community the atmosphere is much friendlier than the larger population centres. All facilities are here including all main banks and supermarket chains, Harvey Norman, Spotlight, K Mart, BCF, Government departments inc 'Centrelink' and numerous speciality shops, cafes and restaurants plus the heritage listed Auchendarroch function centre and Wallis multi screen cinema complex. Mt Barker is also home to 'Steamranger'....the steam railway preservation society with currently 4 steam locomotives, carriages and a dozen diesel locomotives and railcars. Regular full day steam rail trips are offered from Mt Barker to the Fluerieu Peninsular (climate permitting). Being a cool climate wine producing area many vineyards are within a few Kms of Mt Barker all offering tastings and some with restaurant facilities. The famous German hills tourist town of Hahndorf is 5 Kms from Mt Barker
  • Rob is a one of a kind host that goes above and beyond for his guests. Very welcoming and thoughtful touches everywhere ! Location was also brilliant. Thank you again Rob !

  • Rob's place was a great find in My Barker. It was easy on the eye with a plethora of flowers and places to sit in the sun or shade. Rob's mancave if your lucky to get an invite is a nice place for the blokes. The sleeping quarters had a great soft bed with a big screen and good pillows(very important) easy access to the bathroom and all the things you need. fresh fruit and milk and beer and a plate of cheese ( not common to a lot of places) Rob's place is just nice and pleasant and a great stay. Rob's wife ADI is a pure joy and funny and a pleasure to engage. I would stay here again in a shot. 10 out of 10 for this stay.

  • Great little escape that feels well away from the city, but still only a short drive to wineries, strawberry picking and other hills attractions. Friendly farm animals graze the property, and it was amazing to wake up to horses grazing the lawn outside our bedroom window. Our son really enjoyed the chance to feed the goats, chickens and horses. Very clean and had what we need for a relaxing weekend. Thanks!

There was a warm welcome and breakfast provided as well as a lovely log fire for the slightly colder evening. It was also lovely to go for a walk in the morning and meet the farm animals.

  • Tim was a wonderful host. He is very warm and has great knowledge about the local wildlife. The little house is just as it appears in the photos, clean and comfortable. We were delighted to find everything we could need to cooking an evening meal and along with coffee and bread for breakfast the next morning. We were also lucky enough to be visited by one of the bandicoots before leaving. We'd love to visit again, thanks for a great stay!

    Luke2020-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for being such a great host Tim! We had the best getaway at bandicoot springs and will definitely be back again soon!

    Jess2020-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • This little gem in the Adelaide hills is perfect for anyone needing a getaway without having to trek into the mountains. Easy to find and the host Tim is easy to deal with. Couldn’t be happier with the space, everything you need and nothing you don’t. I’m 6’5” and it was still big enough for me to get around, comfy bed, warm heater, excellent BBQ. It’s all here. Just the birds and the furry friends. Didn’t hear a car the whole time. Perfect

    Struan2020-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly recommend. Incredibly cute cabin with thoughtful hospitality touches. Tim is a generous host and you will want to stay as long as possible in this magic spot!

    Simone 2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a hidden gem and a great place to unwind. Tim has been an awesome host and we felt very welcomed. Highly recommend!

    Janyce2020-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is the first time my girlfriend and I went to stay at Bandicoot Springs and the entire place was beyond our expectations. Tim has done a wonderful job designing the cabin, the outdoors surroundings which take away all your stress within moments after you arrive. Soon enough after you arrive the "gang" as Tim says arrives to welcome you to their neighborhood, a pair of ducks and bandicoots incredibly friendly. Apart from the entire place being so beautiful and artistic what makes the Bandicoot Springs unique is how peaceful and serene it is. Without any doubt we recommend this place and we will be back soon!

    Angelos2020-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Complete relaxation! Secluded romantic getaway with very pretty views. Light the bbq, open a bottle of bubbles and hang out with the resident bandicoots on the deck. Property was very clean.

They provided everything we needed, from breakfast to body wash and shampoo and little water bottles in our room. We’re so happy to have chosen here and will 100% return.

The Farm Shed is on our 10 acre hobby farm in Clarendon, in the McLaren Vale wine district. Insta-worthy views across the Onkaparinga valley, handy to walking trails and wineries. Although it's a converted shed it's super comfy... furnished with Asian antiques inc a queen size Chinese Marriage Bed. Private entrance, bathroom and kitchenette. Wifi and 55"Smart TV for your Netflix&Chill. Self check-in, cereal breakfast and real coffee for your first morning included in your stay.
The Farm Shed is adjacent but separate to the main house on our 10-acre hobby farm. The original shed is double insulated, lined and airconditioned. It's all shed on the outside; and all cosy on the inside! We have furnished the Farm Shed with our collection of Chinese antiques. The centrepiece is the 160 year old antique canopy or "Marriage Bed". Marriage beds are very special pieces of furniture that have a lot of tradition woven into their history. Alongside the marriage bed is an opium divan; a three-sided couch designed for relaxing consumption ;) ( PS...opium is not included in your stay!) Both pieces display beautiful hand carving and ancient construction techniques - the entire piece fits together like a 3D puzzle with no glue, nails or screws. The marriage bed is approximately a queen and the Opium Divan could sleep a child up to 6 years. Please note that both beds are higher than western style and access into the marriage bed is from one side only. Please consider this if you have mobility issues. The kitchenette in the Farm Shed includes a bar size fridge, sink, convection microwave, single induction cooktop and espresso coffee machine. Fully equipped with crockery and kitchen utensils for two to four people. Small dining table will seat 3 to four. Also good to use for your laptop or work station. The bathroom includes a shower, toilet and sink. We provide towels, shampoo and conditioner, and body wash. The Farm Shed has wireless internet, and a 55" Smart TV so you can Netflix & Chill.
Clarendon is a small historic town at the junction of the McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills wine districts. Clarendon has a lovely local pub, general store and the famous Clarendon Bakery. Our Farm Shed is just a little out of town with views over the Onkaparinga River Valley National Park and its nature trails through the gorge wetlands. Conveniently, the pretty rural village of Clarendon is just 26 kilometres from the centre of Adelaide. Nearby is Westfield Marion, a major shopping complex with supermarkets, shops, cinemas and restaurants. The Farm Shed is on the doorstep of the McLaren Vale wine area and the beaches of Port Noarlunga and Aldinga are within 15 to 20 minutes drive. Alternatively, head to the Adelaide Hills region with the charming towns of Hahndorf and Stirling, all within 30 minutes drive.

  • We had a wonderful weekend at the shearing shed. The property is just beautiful — we loved waking up overlooking the vineyards watching the sheep pass by. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Libby was quick to respond and very welcoming! Look forward to visiting again.

  • Beautiful accommodation in a lovely part of the world. Loved our stay.

    Tess2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The ‘Shearing Shed’ is the perfect getaway. It’s exactly as it’s advertised! It has everything you could possibly need. It was clean and smelt fresh. Linen/ bedding was of high quality and that’s important to me. Most importantly was location and finding somewhere away from the hustle and bustle where there’s peace and quietness . Thanks Libby! We would definitely come back!

    Kate & Peter2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was the second time we’ve stayed at the Shearing Shed and loved it just as much as the first. Close to McLaren Vale’s wineries and shopping, you’ll want to make sure you have a car to travel back and forth but it’s worth it for this little hide out among the trees. We woke up to sheep outside our window which was pretty cool, and spent the cold morning laying in bed watching the rain. We’ll always keep this place in mind when staying in the McLaren Vale area.

    Ashley2020-03-02T00:00:00Z

  • Kathy was a generous host, leaving us fresh cooked bread & cooked breakfast provisions as well as a little Easter treat for our Easter weekend stay. The house was delightfully decorated in rustic style & it was such a peaceful setting to sit by the fire roasting marshmallows & relaxing. Definitely recommend for an easy city break.

    Jess2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • A little slice of Australian bush paradise. This rustic place that’s only 20 minutes from the city, but feels like we were in deep country with the cares of the modern world far away! In these uncertain times, we found it the PERFECT place to isolate from the world. This would be so cosy in the coming winter months with the wood fire! The highlights were visiting and feeding Ivanka the resident emu, and although simple and rustic, one of the luxuries there was the beautiful spa tub to soak the stresses away, and the cute breakfast, including delicious home made bread, that went with bacon, eggs, jams, milk, tea, coffee and orange juice! Kathy the host couldn’t have been more lovely and accomodating, checking on us via messages, and allowing us to stay later into the afternoon after check out, to soak in the escape a few hours more! We would love to come back again!

    Jamin2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely perfect! Even better in person, you will not be disappointed, quite the opposite. The host was so warm and lovely, we had the pleasure of meeting her and definitely one of the nicest hosts we've met! So many thoughtful touches, music on arrival, a basket of food in the fridge, equipped with everything you might need and more! Super cosy and private! After chatting to the host and expressing how in love we were with the place, she offered us an extra night with no charge because it was free!! We met the adorable emu and cutest dog, as well as seeing kangaroos and other animals when walking around the property. Best weekend!! Could not recommend enough 😊

    Chiara2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect cosy, snuggle spot nestled amongst the trees. We were lucky to have a koala come hang around right outside and he loved the attention. Generous breakfast provisions with freshly baked bread and amazing Starbucks coffee. Look forward to going back in winter and snuggling by the beautiful fire place. Love this place.😍

Check out is 10am. Follow us on Insta and Facebook for more photos and local tips!
Blewitt Springs is an elevated rural area east of McLaren Vale. It is a sub-region of McLaren Vale, and is well known in winemaking circles for it's band of deep ancient sandy soils which grow amazing Grenache vines. With a population of just 329 people spread over 19 square kilometres, there's a real feeling of space and tranquility across beautiful farming, grape-growing and residential properties. A stay in "The Springs" will indulge your need for escapism and leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed!

  • We loved staying at the Top Shed. It was surprisingly comfortable and cosy. The amenities provided was amazing and Dan & Becky have thought of almost everything. Our dog Bagel lived playing with Becky’s two dogs, who were adorable and so friendly. We look forward to returning to stay again soon. The location is also amazing - it felt like you’re really amongst all McClaren Vale has to offer.

  • The Top Shed is located in a beautiful, peaceful location, ideally situated for exploring Maclaren Vale, and for us a wonderful first stop on our trip from the UK to recover from the jet lag and restore ourselves. The Shed is well equipped and very comfortable, Jeff and Madge the dogs make you extremely welcome and are adorable. I would recommend the Top Shed to anyone looking for a beautiful peaceful getaway. Dan and Becky are extremely welcoming and great hosts ensuring that your stay is perfect, thank you

  • The Top Shed was a perfect weekend get away location. We stayed there for a wedding at Woodstock. The location was so close and Becky provided us a list of numbers to prebook drivers. The place was a great little studio space to relax. There are two adorable doggos that are more than happy to come and hang out with you as well.

  • Lovely, quaint, quiet studio. Very clean and everything you need, including lots of personal thoughtful touches and excellent fresh breakfast provisions. Thank you for letting us bring along the doggie too. Sue's communication is excellent and she was very accommodating. Highly recommend for a peaceful off-grid getaway! Thanks Sue, Paula, Doug & Chili

  • Sue’s place is wonderful and a great place to stay for exploring McLaren Vale. So many thoughtful little touches made us feel very welcome and well looked after. I would definitely recommend staying at Sue’s and I would have liked to stay longer!

  • Sue's place was perfect for a quiet weekend getaway from the city hustle & bustle. The studio was incredibly well stocked with quality teas/ coffee, locally sourced milk& cream. Freshly baked bread and homemade spreads. The amenities were all of high quality & the bed was very comfortable. It was a refreshing change to have no TV & experience the fresh air & gardens on the property. There are so many amazing wineries within close proximity to visit! We wished we could have stayed longer!

  • Really enjoyed out stay. Lovely hidden Gem in such a quiet and tranquil location. Adequate breakfast provision (continental) provided to fuel the day, including fresh homemade bread - a lovely tough. Nice surprise with a gift for our anniversary. Well located and easy to find. Very private.

  • Lovely hosts in a really nice homely setting

    Mel2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I knew I'd be giving 6 stars before we even left, unfortunately can only give 5. The host was wonderful providing helpful information relating to our specific trip even before our stay, and accommodating in our travel times. The cute little abode is set up with everything you'd need if you wanted to cook, but we were lucky to be provided with homemade condiments and bread for a lovely breakfast. No over the top unnecessary frills, but no skimping on the basics. Simple and beautiful summarises everything about this stay. Other trips have been excessive in one are, lacking in another, or altogether average. This was one of the best stays we've had and highlights what AirBnB should be about.
