Talley Holiday Rentals

Just booked in Talley

You’ll love our cosy family cottage with its underfloor heating and large wooded garden set in the peaceful hamlet of Cwmbyr. Ideal for a romantic break for two or take the kids (2x2'6'' beds). Recently restored Glandwr is close to the Brecon Beacons near Llandeilo with its excellent shops, restaurants and takeaways. The lively Community Village shop/pub is 1.5 miles up the lane. Relax watching the wildlife from the cottage, or one of the seating areas in the garden and listening to the stream.
Glandwr has been completely rebuilt and modernised over the last couple of years but in a way that retains the character of a mid 19th century workman's cottage. The cosy family cottage comprises a sizeable double bedroom on the ground floor together with a modern fitted kitchen and shower room. The all new upper floor has a twin bedroom with 2 x 2'6" beds and a light and spacious lounge with patio doors overlooking the extensive garden. There is a spiral staircase between the two floors. The cottage has the benefit of underfloor heating on both floors which, combined with the latest exterior wall insulation, provides a constant ambient temperature all year round. As we regularly use the cottage ourselves the beds and chairs are comfy and you are welcome to use the games, books and DVDs etc. There is a larder with all the basic condiments, jams, tea, coffee etc. which you are welcome to use so long as you leave some for us when we next visit! Glandwr cottage is set in the beautiful Welsh countryside. There are pubs and restaurants in the local towns and villages, and family-friendly activities. The Dolcauthi gold mine is nearby and the Red Kite feeding station is within easy travelling distance. You will love the independent shops at Lampeter, Llandeilo and Llandovery. All 10-25mins drive. Carmarthen, with its mix of independent shops and major retailers is just over 30 minutes drive away. The Cwmdu Community Village Shop/pub, staffed mostly by volunteers, is just a mile and a half away up the lane. You can also get an excellent meal there on a Saturday evening (booking recommended). Glandwr has been recently awarded a 4 Star Rating by Visit Wales. **** Please note that there is no landline or wifi and mobile phone reception is intermittent. For more information and pictures go to: glandwrcottage co uk
Talley and its surrounding area is very friendly and welcoming. You will find a warm reception in all the local shops and pubs. Welsh is spoken in most shops and out on the street, many people think it is 'put on' when tourists arrive. This is definitely not the case as many Welsh children in Carmarthenshire do not learn English until they start school. Many local schools teach all the lessons in Welsh and English as a 2nd language. It is a very difficult language to learn, we can only manage a few words, but all adults speak English and you will not be expected to try!
  • It's very nice and quiet place away from city noise. Ideal for someone looking a tension free weekend break.

  • Lovely time, advise anyone to go and visit given the chance. Amazing, friendly home which has had a lot of effort put into making it nice. Great value and area.

  • We had a wonderful week at Glandwr! The house was spotless, the garden a perfect, jungly place for our kids to explore and a real sanctuary to come back to after a day of exploring. The kitchen is really well equipped and there is loads of information on what to do in the area and a great selection of books that are relevant to Wales and specifically the Brecon Beacons. We hope to come back one day!

  • Perfect place to stay, my son loved the fire pit and marsh mellows.

  • Beautiful private location, very well equipped, very clean,we loved the private gardens very very peaceful

    Graeme2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful spot close to some excellent walks and dramatic scenery. The house itself was very comfortable with lots of homely touches, as well as a great selection of games and DVD's. There was an excellent shower and fully equipped kitchen, which was very tastefully fitted out. I'm not sure I have ever seen so many sheep replicas under one roof! Alison was extremely helpful and responded quickly to any queries we had. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be very keen to come again.

  • We stayed Glandwr cottage during Easter holidays and it was great. The cottage is very clean and has everything you need. You might not have a chance to meet the host like us but I am sure you will feel their hospitality when communicating, checking-in and staying in the cottage. The cottage has a huge garden and our kids had fun with egg hunting there. We also enjoyed walking/jogging/cycling local and drove to Brecon Beacons (30 minutes to Carreg Cennen Castle) and a coast in Pembrokeshire (1.5 hours). It's a great place to stay. We are hoping we can come back to the cottage soon.

Charming country cottage overlooking the ruins of a medieval abbey in a quaint village. Situated in gorgeous countryside it is a heaven of peace and beauty. There is a cozy open plan living area downstairs with open fireplace. Three comfortable bedrooms (2 doubles and 1 small single) and bathroom with shower over bath upstairs.
There is much to do in the beautiful area but there is plenty to do and see just outside your door. There are two ancient lakes on the grounds of the estate with a family of resident swans, ducks and other migratory birds. We have regular visits by red kites from the area (we counted a group of eight recently), a bird hide and many walks with gorgeous views up Talley hills. There are accounts of otters being seen too. Fishing is possible by prior arrangement. Go up the Talley hills and try the different walks some steeper than others to experience the amazing views of the lakes and Brecon Beacons. Whether you like to relax and enjoy the beauty and peaceful environment, look at the beautiful nights skies with a glass of wine by the fire or if you are the active type there is lots to do like cycling, walking, fishing, foraging.
  • Clean, cosy and neat place. Value for money for 5 people. Fully equipped (dishwasher, washing machine, cutlery and micro wave) however no connectivity which is brilliant if you want to cut off from the world for a proper break with family / friends. The cottage has good parking, option for indoor games and good country side walk. The recommended food options are also really nice.

  • We loved the cottage. Talley itself was beautiful and lots of amazing walks during the afternoon that were just next door. Gracious hosts who were helpful, listened to us and also helped us start the fire on the first night despite the rain. We felt very accommodated for. It's very peaceful and quiet and exactly what we needed! Thank you!

  • Even though the location is secluded, there are loads of things to do around the area and the cottage we stayed in is beautiful! Would highly recommend staying there and ask the hosts for suggestions around the area, they were extremely helpful with us!

    Melina2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage with love surrounding area. Then ruins of the abbey are stunning. The whole process was very easy and the cottage was perfect. Very nice and clean with all the amenities.

    Jessica2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • We've spent a lovely five days in the cottages with our family and friends. The hosts went ouf ot their way to provide us with all the helpful things we might need for our youngest child, like a travel cot with full bedding, safety covers for sockets, and even some special bags for used nappies, and it all helped a lot to start our holiday smoothly. The location is remote but that was exactly what we were hoping for - the silence, the fresh air and the beautiful views. The cottage itself is decorated in a simple but a very homey way which makes it not only a functional place but a true home away from home. We hope to come back and spend few more amazing days sometime in the future!

  • Cristina's cottage is very cosy, clean and comfortable! We had a lovely stay and we had everything we needed. Check in was very easy and the area is lovely and scenic!

  • 3 friends and I had a great stay. The cottage was clean and we used the kitchen every night with no problems. We enjoyed the walking near the cottage and exploring further afield on our bikes. Highly recommended for a weekend away!

  • The stay at Juli's was warm and enjoyable. Although it was a bit of adventure for us to reach at the house in the dark with raining, Juli waited us very late. We did not prepare and bring any food to the stay, Juli kindly offered us some food from her house. The view was stunning from top of the hills, we love the freshness in the morning, Juli turned up more heating supply to make sure we stay warm. Different local guidelines were provided which were helpful to us. We would recommend this place and definitely stay again.

    Shanshan2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely brilliant stay. You could not wish for anything more. Location is stunning. The Coach House is tasteful and comfortable. Apparently Juli had spent a LOT of time and energy making sure the broken log burner was fixed ready for our arrival - which we really appreciated. It was so lovely and cosy for mid-winter stay. And she had specially put in a DVD player for us. Providing some groceries especially the tea/ coffee and spices was much appreciated. Can't praise the place and the hospitality enough.

    Elaine2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend at this tucked away coach house. Juli was very welcoming and the place had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this cosy and scenic place to stay!

    Jessie2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our three nights at the Coach House was the perfect retreat. The place is beautifully decorated, and we loved having a glass of wine in front of the fire covered in blankets in the evenings. Juli was an exemplar host - always available, but never overbearing. There are things to do nearby - from the GinHaus and Wright's Emporium for food and drink, to the sights of the botanical gardens and Paxton's Tower - but you can just as easily hold up fort at the Coach House, wander around the land and the bluebell fields, and feel completely away from civilisation. Everything was as described, and the list Juli provides was very helpful in determining what and what not to bring with us. We highly recommend visiting, and look forward to our next stay.

    Nacho2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Really great host - great place! Would definitely stay here again x

    Lella2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach House is in a beautiful and remote location which made an ideal base for a relaxing few days. The building is absolutely beautiful and has everything you could need. As stated in previous reviews, the bed is super comfortable! The trip up to the location is along a track through farmland and up a steep hill. It is bumpy but it is definitely accessible to a standard car, you just need to take it slowly. The local area is stunning and you do not have to travel very far to find amazing castles and views. Llandeilo is only 7 miles away (the nearest shops) and is home to Dinefwr Castle and Park. We arrived as it opened and it is well worth it as we were the only ones there. Juli is the perfect host and was on hand for any help/advice. We will definitely be recommending The Coach House to friends and family.

    Jenny2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • This location was absolutely breathtaking. Juli (the host) was lovely and gave us a quick tour of the house and gave us a couple of ideas as to walks and directions to the nearest town. She left us to ourselves but was only too happy to help us out if we had needed it. The accommodation itself was lovely. There is a fantastic kitchen with everything we needed (and more), and a bathroom that was large and even had a joke book in it! The bed was comfy and there was heating in the place if needed. There are large sofas to sprawl out and read on and a wood burner for the colder months. There is Wifi but it's hit and miss - not a very strong signal, but that's Wales for you. If you are reliant on it for work, it would not suffice, but if you want to get away from it all, it's quite pleasant to be a little disconnected. There was plenty of information in the guest house as to walks one could go on, and the maps provided were very useful especially the ordinance survey map - this really helped us out! All in all we were extremely happy with this place and would be enticed to return some day!

  • Fantastic place, I love it. The coach house are amazing. I did enjoy my stay there and of course I will return. My host was helpful and easy to communicate with. I recommend 100%.

    The Coach House
    54 reviews
Built around 1850, this pretty terraced cottage has been lovingly restored and, with plenty of original features remaining it is perfect for a romantic get away, or for friends to share for an activity holiday. Available all year round, there is a woodburning stove for the chilly Autumn and Winter months. The stairs are steep so it is unsuitable for children under 5 years old or people with limited mobility. Sorry, we don't allow dogs in the cottage and there is strictly No Smoking.
Set in the lovely Dinefewr Valley, Llansawel village is at the heart of a farming community, surrounded by glorious countryside with Brechfa Forest less than 5 miles away, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy mountain biking, wonderful walks and the chance to unwind in a haven for wildlife. The county town of Carmarthen is within easy travelling distance offering a real chance for some serious retail therapy along with lots of choice for places to eat. Llandeilo is the nearest small town and has a range of lovely independant shops .The Doloacothi Gold Mines are approx 4 miles away where you can enjoy an underground tour followed by a chance of panning for gold. While staying in our cottage why not enjoy a day out visiting Cardigan Bay and take in the beautiful Georgian coastal town of Aberaeron with its pretty colourwashed properties and award winning Bistros and Restaurants.Less than 5 miles from Aberaeron is the National Trust John Nash Mansion at Llanerchaeron which has lovely gardens and a tea room ,where you can sit outside and enjoy cake and coffee on a sunny day. Further along Cardigan Bay is New Quay with its quaint harbour offering spectacular views and, if you are lucky, a glimpse of the pod of dolphins which make their home along this stretch of coastline. Not too far away is Pembrokeshire National Park, with its rugged coastline and charming pretty villages scattered along the coastal path. Haverfordwest has a retail park which provides all the large shops you would expect to find in a County Town. We have compiled a large folder of interesting attractions, both large and small, for visitors to use while planning their days out in Carmarthenshire. During the chilly Autumn and Winter months we provide logs for the woodburning stove which makes the living room even more warm and cosy. Included in the price I provide a range of goodies for your first breakfast and also complimentary toiletries.
Llansawel is a vibrant village, surrounded by countryside with a farmers market once a month, and a film club in the Village Hall. The locals are very friendly and welcoming, don't be shy to try both The Black Lion and The Angel for Bar Meals and Sunday Lunch.
  • Lovely clean cottage a home from home.centrally located, ideal for exploring Carmarthenshire.Tenby is a must.Louise left us breakfast things the first morning which was very welcomed.lots of walks locally or travel a little further for some superb beaches,a hour at the most but worth it.my son and I will definitely be back hopefully soon.

  • Fantastic property in a lovely rural location. Local pub serving meals and offering a few little shop items. Very clean and tidy with good attention to detail, including blankets and a fire for cooler nights. I love that there is a washing machine and outside line - I have washing OCD! Breakfast items were left for us which was a welcome addition to the self catering experience. Only draw back is that you must have a car for this property due to location, but we had a great time travelling all over the local area and exploring parts of Wales that we haven't had the opportunity to explore before. Lovely hosts, all in all a fab trip.

    natalie2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Louises' cottage is absolutely gorgeous! There are plenty of things to see and do in the area but if you want to venture a bit further afield, it's also perfectly situated to explore the Brecon Beacons National Park and Pembrokeshire with its' beautiful beaches, magical castles and stunning coastal walks. The cottage itself is beautifully presented, very comfortable, homely and clean as a whistle. Louise has equiped it with everything you could need for a hassle free holiday, including a welcome pack for which we were very greatful after our long drive! An added bonus is that her cottage is literally across the road from the local pub and restaurant (which also doubles as the local shop / post office - very handy!) where we got to know some of the locals who were very friendly and more than happy to share some valuable knowledge of the village and surrounding areas. Louise was a fab host and we hope to return very soon!

    Monica2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We all enjoyed our stay at 3 Marlais View and found the house had plenty of character and was very well presented. It suited us, a family of three, very well. Louise did everything she could to make our stay as good as possible including a generous welcome pack of goodies for my seven year old daughter. Whilst it is a bit of a drive to Tenby, there are closer beaches like Llansteffan near Camarthen. Also many attractions are within easy reach such as Aberglasney gardens and the National Botanical Gardens of Wales, plus the Welsh gold mine of Dolgellau to name a few. The place is also very reasonably priced

    Gary2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was immaculately presented with great facilities. We were warmly greeted by Louise who had provided milk and provisions to keep us going which was lovely after our long journey. We made good use of the local knowledge especially that of Sue, the landlady at the Black Lion nearby, who welcomed us with tales of the area and introductions to the locals. The area was in easy reach of many nice places that we visited and enjoyed. The log burner was a great asset as well! We had a Thoroughly enjoyable stay.

    robert2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely property set in beautiful surroundings and excellent value for money. Small touches such as breakfast for the first morning really added to this. Lots of things to do within an hours drive, even when it is raining. Louise was extremely helpful and made sure we could contact her if needed. Would definitely recommend- thank you Louise!!

Longbarn Cottage One is a barn conversion with exposed beams on our smallholding. A quiet location in the Carmarthenshire countryside.
A great place for a relaxing break away from it all. We are about 40 minutes from the Breacon Beacons National Park. The nearest seaside places are the colourful harbour town Aberaeron, Newquay famed for its dolphins and Aberystwyth. The market town of Carmarthen is about one hour away. Lampeter, Llandelio and Llandovery are the nearest towns. Pumsaint village has a pub and a goldmine both open to visiters! Lots of nice walks and biking with in easy distance. Birdwatch from the balcony while enjoying the peace and quiet. Usual farmyard noises, sheep, tractors etc to be expected!
We live across the farmyard from the cottage, our nearest neighbours are half a mile away down the track.

It is deceptively spacious inside with many original features and a cosy wood burning stove.Enclosed private garden. Ideally situated for both coast and country. There is a lovely pub in the village within walking distance of the cottage which serves good home-cooked food and welcomes well-behaved dogs. Rural location but not remote with easy road and rail links.
The cottage is approx 1/2 mile from the famous Dolaucothi Goldmines, built by the Romans and now owned by the National Trust where visitors can pan for gold and take a tour of the underground mine shafts. • We had a completely fantastic time staying here! As soon as we walked in we couldn't believe how perfect it was. The cottage looks lovely from the photos, but it's even better in real life. Very spacious, lovely comfortable sofas and fantastic woodburner. Very well-equipped kitchen with lots of pans and dishes - we spent 4 hours cooking a roast dinner one day and had everything we needed! Liz and John were incredibly friendly and accommodating - although they were just next door, we felt we had complete privacy too. The area is lovely with wonderful views, and a good and friendly pub within walking distance. There were four adults staying and there was plenty of room - there is a double bed upstairs and a twin room, but also a sofa bed downstairs. Overall we had a lovely weekend and massively wished we could have stayed longer!

  • We got to the cottage late at night and Elizabeth accommodated us by leaving lights on and making us feel right at home! The cottage matched the description, and exceeded our expectations. I would certainly visit again, great weekend away. Highly recommended and well worth a visit!!

    Anne2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the cottage and had a wonderful time. The evenings were cool, so we used the wood stove nightly. The location was wonderful and we did not expect that our daily trips to Lampeter would take as long as they did, but toward the end we were grateful for our rides through the countryside. Elizabeth and John were great hosts. The living room showcased many of John's paintings. No complaints here - only wonderful things to say. We look forward to returning.

The peace and quiet of Rhos Farm is magical with fab far reaching views all around the hills and valleys. We are lucky enough to have many ancient trees so the bird life is rich. We have resident red kite and buzzards who will readily feed off our stone table. With little light pollution clear nights are ablaze with the heavens and the milky way clear to see.
Rhos Barn, a traditional Welsh Barn adjacent to the owners’ farmhouse but with its own private and secluded garden, is set within a 100-acre farm in the rolling countryside of Carmarthenshire. Tastefully converted, it provides stylish and quirky holiday accommodation for up to eight people, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The barn has been very sympathetically converted to ensure it retains its characterful features from the beams to the lovely cosy wood burner in the tastefully furnished living room. Across a little “bridge” from the mezzanine is a twin room with an en-suite toilet and basin, and the remaining two bedrooms (both en-suite) are off the main landing. The kitchen/dining room is a great social space with a wonderful cushioned window seat looking out across the courtyard to the farmland beyond. It’s a great place to gather and chat and drink whilst dinner is being prepared! The fully enclosed garden has the added bonus of a hot tub and a separate garden entertainment room with pool table, darts and ample space to relax in. There is also a further paddock within the grounds where you can enjoy outdoor games, and a cabin with additional children’s games and toys. The barn and hosts know what their doing. It’s clean, it’s beautiful. The photos do not do the place justice. I can’t wait to go again. Thank you

Charming country cottage overlooking the ruins of a medieval abbey in a quaint village. Situated in gorgeous countryside it is a heaven of peace and beauty. There is a separate kitchen and combined dining/sitting room with open fireplace, two bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin) and bathroom with shower over bath upstairs.
  • A wonderful cottage in the middle of nature, perfectly located to travel around South Wales, very clean and well furnished. Exactly what we were looking for. Matt warmed welcoming us and was very available and cared. We recomand this place to all nature lovers and all those want to spend typical and smooth times in Wales.

  • My family and I ( 2 adults, a 9 year, 7 year old boys and baby girl aged 10 months ) stayed in the Red Kite cottage for a few nights, the cottage was impeccably clean and is situated next to an ancient Abbey ruin. The area is really special, magical and really peaceful. We could not recommend enough. Cristina and her family are wonderful hosts. Thank you from The Furlongs

  • A little gem in a beautiful and wild part of Wales. The cottage ticked all the box's for us and Cristina and Matt could not have been more helpful. This is a real get away from it all location. It axceeded our expectation and I hope to visit again. The cottage was well appointed, tidy, comfortable and everyting worked properly. During our stay we did not venture out once in the evening which is a first for us - it was so homely we did'nt feel the need to.

  • We had a fantastic time staying in this lovely little cottage in its really beautiful surroundings. We had everything we needed for a really comfortable few days; our friendly hosts made every effort to make sure everything was ok and the extra advice, tips and treats left in the cottage were a very welcoming touch. We would not normally go back to the same place twice but we really felt that this was somewhere special and would love to stay again. It was secluded but not far from a lovely town and there was plenty to do in the area, including some beautiful walks from the cottage door. We would thoroughly recommend Abbey Cottages.

  • The family really enjoyed our time here. It is a bit in the middle of nowhere, but we liked that and the place has a great atmosphere with the ruined manor house over the river. The facilities were great and we felt very welcome indeed thanks to some nice touches from the hosts. Recommended.

  • You walk in and you feel instantly at home. Or rather you wish it was your home. We have never felt to comfortable so quickly ever. It's a beautiful place and location. With the humongous forest in Abergorlech 5 miles down the road it's perfect for nature lovers, walkers and doggy owners alike! Thank you so much! We loved it and will definitely be coming back.

  • The cottage was spacious and well equipped. You definitely need to bring supplies as there is no local shop to pop to. WiFi was great but no phone signal, which doesn't matter with WiFi calling. Check the water temp before like ones use it although this might be modified before next holiday makers as I have mentioned it to the owner. Great value for a peaceful getting away from it all break

  • Mixed feelings about Cothi View. Glad we arrived during daylight hours. Be sure to drive slowly and follow their directions closely. It's beautiful and very rural. Our first impression was, oh my gosh, adorable. Upon opening the front door, we were met with what we thought was cigarette smoke smell. Not sure what the odor was but it's in the whole house. We were greeted with a nice note and a box of chocolates. Getting the heat to stay on proved challenging. Also we were unable to get a shower going that wasn't either ice cold or scalding hot. Ended up having to take a bath which took more time to get out the door. The master bed was very uncomfortable. I walked out to the river and did not encounter the hostile neighbor.

  • Had a fabulous time at the Dairy Barn. Place was absolutely stunning and hot tub really finished it off! We enjoyed walking and mountain biking in the nearby Brechfa forest which was ideal for those activities. Mez was a great host and gave us ideas of restaurants etc in the area. We are all in love with welsh cakes now! Yummy!

  • Fantastic weekend away mountain biking in Brechfa and Cwm Rhaedr. Mez was so welcoming and a great host. The Dairy was extremely comfortable and a great base with a mud room for storing bikes. Thoroughly recommend for any group, whether you want to explore some stunning riding or have a more relaxing stay in the countryside. Thanks for having us! Will

Stay in a lovingly converted 19th century cowshed, set in a beautiful, secluded valley; with its own garden, waterfall, sauna and 30 year old Nature Reserve, in the secluded Cothi Valley of Brechfa Forest. Special services tailored to your needs: bike wash, secure bike storage, drying facilities and free wifi; nearby pubs serving good food; supermarket deliveries available; on-site wood fired Finnish style sauna available (at extra cost) including towels, oils and plunge pool.
Derwen Cottage is peaceful yet accessible. The Black Mountains, the Cambrian Mountains and the beautiful Cardigan coast are an hour's drive away. Famous castles, stunning gardens and interesting towns are close by and on our doorstep some of the most beautiful landscape and walks in Carmarthenshire. And of course!! ... the mountain bike trails, and fabulous trekking on Mynydd Llanllwni.
  • We came to the cottage as a family of 7. My kids range from 6 months to 7 years old and everyone had a great time. The children enjoyed the grounds especially the hidden waterfall and the two lively ponies over the road. Maggie and Pablo were great, they organised everything so well we really felt at home. They were also great and giving us our privacy yet were easily available if we needed anything. The location of the cottage is great, wasn't to far to drive to places of interest and the large Tesco which was only 10 mins away was really helpful! Would highly recommend this lovely cottage!

    Avrohom2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with Maggie and Pablo for 4 nights. What an amazing place. So peaceful and a perfect opportunity to unwind. No TV which was just perfect. Pablo gave us a tour of their land, which was really interesting and gave a great insight into the challenges of keeping a place as nature intended. Our children were just obsessed with playing in the stream and seeing esme and roxy the horses. Pablo and Maggie were brilliant hosts from kindly supplying logs to feed the rayburn to giving us a tour at short notice, nothing was too much trouble. On the rayburn, what a lovely way to cook on holiday. Required a bit of forethought and patience to get it up tp temperature, but all part of the charm. If you don't have the time or inclination, there's a microwave cooker in the cottage, but that is missing the point of the place a bit. This was our first airbnb experience and we'll definitely be coming back to see Maggie and Pablo again.

  • Long way from anything resembling a supermarket (good!) although community shop in village about 10 mins drive away. Take plenty of supplies. Lovely secluded spot in forest. We slept 6 with one on the sofa bed on the living room. Pub in Brechfa - Forest Arms - very welcomming with good value, delicious food. About 1.5 hrs from coast but worth going somewhere like New Quay with its dolphins spotting trips. Pablo pleasent and gave extensive lecture on how to keep woodburning range going. Plus kept it alight when we said we were going to be out late. Lots of forest walks and bike rides locally. Recommended.

    Susan2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie and Pablo manage to host as though you are on retreat rather than holiday-in a good way. The cottage is simple and beautiful, and the whole place is utterly tranquil. The sauna is unmissable, deep soul food.

    Shila2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted to be in the middle of nature and in the peace and quiet and the cottage definitely provided that! Very cosy with the Rayburn heating the whole place. We all slept incredibly well and the sauna is a must.Great location to explore Brecha forest, the surrounding castles and even the coast line. Would definitely come back in summer to explore surrounding countryside again but for longer. Lesley, Oli, Alistair & Cameron

    Lesley2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and quiet place in the countryside in the middle of south Wales. Maggie and Pablo are great... and Roxy and Esme (the ponies !) were a huge surprise for our girls ! They went to brush them almost every day ! From the cottage, we went to Gower peninsula, to Cardiff, to Pembrokeshire and to the Brecon Beacons... it's possible, but you musn't be afraid of small welsh roads ! The "ordnance survey" = very precise maps that were in the cottage were life saviours ! Don't miss the national botanic garden, we went twice (the ticket is "open" fot a week after the first visit). The only low point of the cottage was the bathroom, due to a leak, the floor was wet the first few days.

    Benoit2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure to have Maggie and Pablo as our hosts. We had excellent communication, very friendly and helpful to show us the beautiful property, as well as places to visit. If we come back to South Wales, we will definitely stay with them. Thanks Pablo and Maggie!

    Felipe2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie and Pablo were wonderful, so welcoming and warm. We arrived and the house and were shown where everything is and how everything works. The house is very sweet and cosy, it felt like home! The area is very peaceful and quiet, perfect for a family get away or for a romantic break. We did long walks in the beautiful Brechfa forest and drove to Brecon Beacons which is one hour away in the car. Just make sure you do the research and know where the entrances are :) We enjoyed every single day and will probably come back for more next year! Thank you for a wonderful break and beautiful memories!

A gorgeous cottage in the heart of Wales!
A typical Welsh style cottage located in Mid Wales near to the famous Brecon Beacons. it is attached to the main house, with it's own front door/entrance. Fully equipped: bathroom/shower, kitchen, lounge and bedroom with satellite TV and Free WiFi. Set in beautiful rural surroundings and with a nearby river. The cottage is located on a small holding with sheep, chickens, two dogs and an ex racehorse. It is a short drive to the West coast of Wales. The Heart of Wales railway line runs from Shrewsbury to Swansea and vice versa, and is only a 5 minute drive away. Local towns include Llandovery, an old drovers town, which has lovely coffee shops where you can relax. Also nearby is the village of Myddfai, country home to the Prince of Wales. Linen is provided. If desirable laundry services are available at an extra cost. Pets are allowed after approval of the owners. For bookings and prices please contact the owners either: via www.walescottage.wordpress.com or via email at simonandmarianne@btinternet.com
Everything......the cottage is in a very beautiful rural part of Wales. We are surrounded by green fields, hills and mountains. The gorgeous river Dulais flows pass the property and gives access to great walk ways/footpaths.
  • This place is all as advertised and much more. The cottage is spacious and perfectly clean with very nice appointments. Marrianne and Simon are the nicest people -they were very patient with me* They are very gracious and the cottage was immaculate. The sitting room is huge and has nice selection of books, and the bedroom holds two beds with very neat and comfortable linen and blankets The countryside around there is exquisite and the cottage is close to a major highway (the A4) if you come from that direction. This is the best experience of this sort I have had and I recommend it in the strongest possible way. *I didn't realize how rugged the back roads in Wales are. Just be aware that if you come from the north the GPS will take you through roads exactly the width of one car plus inches so be careful and stick to main roads if that bothers you ;-) From London and Southern England it's easy , on the A40.

  • This family are genuinely some of the nicest people I've ever met, they were very welcoming to us both and our dog sammy who was a little terror and kept running around but they didn't mind and made a huge fuss of him. We stupidly managed to lock ourselves out and their daughter searched for a key for us until her parents got back and found the key. The beds were very comfy and the property was spotless. The location is gorgeous with amazing views. Nice relaxing stay. If we are ever back that way we will definitely stay again :)

The descriptions and photos of the cottage were accurate, and the location was perfect for our weekend getaway. It was such a tranquil stay with beautiful scenery and places to go for long walks with the dog. Everyone in the family gave great recommendations as to where to go for outings and we would definitely return for another weekend if we can. Thanks to everyone in the family for making us feel welcome! Corrine, Pete, and Sarge

  • We spent one night in the Blaen y Garn B&B and it was a highlight of our trip to explore Wales. Aura and Martin made us feel most welcome in their lovingly warm and beautiful home. We were treated with a cake on arrival and a delicious breakfast next morning, with a selection of jams from Aura’s kitchen and Martin’s own honey, which kept us going for a long time! And no less we enjoyed talking to our hosts. Both the room and the private bathroom were very spacious and spotlessly clean. This was the best B&B we came across and I would highly recommend this wonderful place for a peaceful and most comfortable stay. Thank you so much, Aura and Martin, for making our short visit very special and memorable! We would love to come again. With warm wishes, Natasha, Svetlana and Nicholas

Wir haben uns auch am nächsten Tag noch über viele Themen ausgetauscht. Für unsere Reise ein echter Gewinn. Hervorzuheben ist das unvergleichliche Frühstück. Ausgesprochen vielseitig. Renovated Farmhouse on the edge of the National Trust's Dolaucothi Estate. High on the hill, overlooking the beautiful Cothi Valley, the house is superbly located for exploring the Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion countryside and coast. The quirky, hip and bustling small town of Llandeilo is just a short drive away.
Our traditional Welsh Farmhouse nestles on top of a hill overlooking the Cothi valley. The house is at the end of a long private lane, occasionally shared with a few sheep. The house is situated in northern Carmarthenshire, a mile outside of the village Pumsaint (aka Pumpsaint) – or "Five Saints". Named after a quintet of holy pilgrims who once stopped here en route to St David's – the village is part of the National Trust's 2,500-acre Dolaucothi Estate. As well as come amazing walks and wildlife (red kites, red squirrels, peregrine falcons, goshawks, buzzards (inc. rumour has it, the honey buzzard)) you can explore the Dolaucothi Gold Mine. The mines are great for all ages - and especially good for rainy days. Our children love both the underground tours - but also experiencing the chance to pan for gold (and always finding some!) There's superb hiking in the area, as we're situated at the base of the Cambrian Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park is just down the road. If mountain biking is your thing then head for Brechfa Forest - about 2 miles from the house. If you want to bring animals - then that's cool. We can provide stabling for your horse; or a kennel for the dog (although they're also welcome in the house (the dog not the horse). There's also fishing for sea trout (sewin, in Welsh) in the nearby River Towy. If you want to head to the coast we'd recommend Aberaeron - where you can enjoy some delicious food at the Harbour Master Hotel. Or if you're looking for a beach we'd recommend the beautiful National Trust beach at Penbryn (about 35 mins from Pumsaint). The house comprises: Living room (with wood burning stove) 3 Double bedrooms (1 with ensuite including shower) 1 Single bedroom Family bathroom (bath + shower) Study (with desk) Kitchen (with aga) Scullery Dining room Utility room Down stairs cloakroom
The house is situated on the edge of the Dolaucothi estate. The fabulous and friendly pub, The Dolaucothi Arms (http://thedolaucothiarms.co.uk) is just over a mile away down in the village of Pumsaint. We would encourage you to enjoy their delicious food and local beers. We're well known to Dave and Esther (the landlords) so be sure to introduce yourselves to them and the locals. The nearest shop is about 4 miles away on the road towards Lampeter (Checkpoint Garage). Asda and Tesco also deliver. There's so much to see in the area - but we'd particularly recommend a trip up the Cwrt y Cadno valley to the Gwenffrwd-Dinas RSPB reserve. There's a stunning walk/bit of a scrabble along the babbling river.
  • I had an amazing stay over the Christmas period. The house surpassed all my expectations, could easily cater for 7 guests and had everything necessary for a Christmas feast. The house is as per the listing. The communication with Simon was always friendly, easy and prompt. I would definitely recommend this listing for those looking for a homely farm stay in a beautiful off the beaten track location.

They gave us a tour of the house along with a few helpful instructions and the short cut route to the local pub! Then they left us to make the place our own. The house has everything you need and was spotlessly clean. We made ourselves at home, stocked the SMEG fridge full of goodies to add to the local butter, jams and milk given to us by our hosts. The kids loved exploring the grounds, barns and the trampoline. They even pitched in collecting wood for the fire which was plentiful and at no extra cost. All in all we had a superb break and would love to return in the future. Thanks Simon and Helen!

  • We had a wonderful time staying here. The house was very well equipped and furnished, and very comfortable. Outstanding views in a lovely rural location with plenty of space. Simon was a perfect host, responding to all messages and providing plenty of information. Thank you!

  • A stunning location with the most perfect property. This is our second visit this year. Just perfect. Simon is a great host, contactable at all times, should the need arise.

  • Simon has been a wonderful host. We spend a three week family holiday at his house and the only thing that was not perfect was the welsh weather. Would definitely recommend it.

  • Simon was very responsive to all queries from the start, making life very straightforward for us having never visited the area before. We had an incredible time over the Easter weekend, thanks largely to this beautiful house. It was ideal for our group of six that just wanted to relax, cook good food, go on walks in the surrounding fields (to the local pub) and enjoy the peace and quiet. The coastal towns don't take long to reach, and the Harbour Master is well worth a visit as mentioned in the description for this property. We would love to come back again and couldn't recommend it highly enough to anyone after a piece of rural living in amazing settings. For anyone after a swanky pad, then perhaps look elsewhere as this won't be for you; this is a farmhouse which has been done up to an excellent standard and we all loved it.

  • Fantastic property in an amazing location. Plenty of space for 4 adults, 3 kids (9, 4 and 2) and the dog. The children loved the gardens and meadow and would happily have spent every day there rather than venturing out. We did visit several of the places suggested by Simon and loved all of them. Simon was a fantastic host, answering all of our queries quickly, he even booked a table at the local pub for us. We would recommend this property to anyone.
