Places to stay in Tasmania
Looking for a home away from home? A place to rest and rejuvenate that is close to the city (10 minutes to the CBD) but surrounded by nature, her silence and peaceful sounds?
This unique and charming light filled room with its own private entrance, en-suite bathroom, and custom designed, fully functioning kitchen is nestled at the foot of the majestic Kunanyi (Mount Wellington) and offers an experience of everything that is nourishing and beautiful about Tasmania. The water views of the river Derwent from the comfort of your warm and cozy queen sized bed and views of the looming mountain above are second to none, with sunrises worth setting an alarm for. The land is abundant with wildlife and features vast organic food and flower gardens. All of the water (drinking and bathing) on the property, is sourced from a sparkling mountain stream that boarders the property and is some of the cleanest water in the world.
Countless nature trails, beautiful waterfalls, lush old growth temperate rainforest and swimming holes are literally just a stone’s throw away from your doorstep.
  • An absolute must! Close to the CBD and all amenities, with everything you need within easy reach! Lovely private property, with great views of the city! We also had a wonderful opportunity to chat with Mieke, who gave us some lovely tips for places to see in the Huon Valley & Bruny Island. Would definitely recommend to friends!

    Natalie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We have enjoyed our stay at Mieke's. The place has all the creature comfort we needed: very comfortable bed for a restful sleep, silence, fully equipped kitchen (no microwave oven, but it was not missed), clean bathroom amenities, and a warm welcome. We will certainly stay here again when we visit Hobart again. Next time, we'll make the best of our stay and take on the walking tracks of Mount Wellington!

  • Magical place. The hostess had some great recommendations on where to dine, provided us with fresh blueberries from her garden, and had a wonderful room for us with great amenities, including field guides and books. The rainforest trail down to the city is a must do.

Reminder no cooking facilities, just be prepared or go out for food. Only 20 min out from Hobart, 5 min Kingston town. YES do stay there!

  • Very cute house, clean and warmly decorated in style. The room is also very warm at night, the view is very beautiful, and there are lovely animals around. The toilet is a degradable and environmentally-friendly toilet, and hot water is provided in the shower. Very happy staying experience. Lovely place with breathtaking view! The inner decoration is cute. Heater working very well to keep warm and cozy at night. Lots of wildlife around that place. We spend a wonderful night here.

    Belinda2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Really great spot! The home is extremely beautifully decorated, and has the most windows I have ever seen in an Airbnb (which is perfect because the view is great!) Everything was very clean and the home has many thoughtful touches. The hosts were also very responsive! Definitely recommend

An original 1960's Tasmanian fishing shack, my lovely home features stunning views directly overlooking Little Norfolk Bay, 3 bedrooms, and a wood fire. Just 10 mins to Port Arthur, and 45 mins from the airport, my home has super fast WIFI, local artwork from Australian artists, and many good vibes! Come stay and get ready to explore the South East.
Welcome to my shack. Within an hour drive of Hobart, the house is the perfect weekend getaway. My home is super cosy, makes you feel welcome straight away and has plenty of charm and decorated with love. If you want a 5 star hotel, this is not it! The shack has lots of natural light, is beautifully decorated and tidy, with amazing views. It can get cold in the winter, but we have a wood fire, heater and plenty of blankets. There are 3 bedrooms; 2 very comfy double beds and one sofa bed (a king single or small double) for extra guests, plus with a large desk, with very fast WIFI.
The house is located on Arthur Hwy, with Little North Bay directly opposite, giving amazing water views and ease of finding the house. Things to do on the Tasman Peninsula: Nature - Pirate Bay lookout (before you get to Eaglehawk Neck from Hobart), the far end of White Beach is really pretty or drive out to Lime Bay (dirt road). If you want to see some Tasmania devils, there is the Unzoo a couple of minutes from the house. Active - there's a ton of hikes locally: Waterfall Bay (easy), Cape Huay, Shipstern Bluff (3 hours), The Lanterns, Fortescue Bay (4 hours worth it!), the 3 Capes just opened - looks amazing! History - If history is more your thing, Port Arthur convict settlement run amazing tours and is only 10km south of the house. Recommend the boat tour, and taking most of the day to explore. Also near Lime Bay is the Coal Mines, a nice walk if the weather is good. Food - Eat yummy fresh food; cherries (just south of Sorell is cherry farms, stop and grab some for the ride. The A9 heads south and is a beautiful drive), cray rolls (in Dunalley stop at the general store on Booth St and grab fresh cray rolls for lunch, yum. There's a viewing pull out over looking Dunalley Bay when you leave Dunalley - the sand ridges and turquoise water are beautiful), oysters (on the deck with a cold chardonnay), amazing locally made chutney, pickled fruit, quince (Nubenna op shop open Tues 10-3, Fri 10-3, Sat 10-1), fish and chips (Eaglehawk Neck near the pier, open late Sept - late May) Shopping - Op shopping is great in rural areas; Salvos (Station Lane, Sorell), Vinnies (Sorell), antiques at Murdunna (tiny old Post Office converted into a treasure trove of goodies), Nubenna (behind the petrol station, by the tennis courts), Dunalley (behind the community centre). Chill at the house - cheese platter on the deck, red wine by the fire, board games galore, read a book, and make sure you walk down to the jetty with some blankets and check out the stars… Hobart: MONA for the day (you can drive (easy), hire bikes (hard), or get the MONA ferry (fun - but an extra $20 on your ticket price), Tasmanian Muséum and Art Gallery is worth the trip, book an adorable and individual room at the gorgeous Hotel Alabama run by Kelly and Aeron in town, Mt Wellington for views, Criterion Street Cafe for breakie, or coffee at Betsys on Argyle st and say g'day to Charlie the owner. Extra time: Coles Bay, Strathgordon, Bay of Fires, Cradle Mountain, Trainee National Park, Bruny Island, Launceston gorge, The Apple Shed (best cider in Tasmania, and yummy cheese platters) plus great drives. *Please start your message with HOLA FRANKIE so I know you've read this!*
  • Fab host, cute home in a special spot. Very relaxing! Only wish there was laundry facilities. Thank you Frankie!

    Katrina2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sweet, stylish, clean & great vibes! Curl up at the front window with a book! Enjoy the gorgeous views on the fabulous front deck! Waking up to the Ocean View was fab! Lots of thoughtful touches.. Blankets, jumpers & jackets. Can't beat that wood fire in the evening. Thanks for having us.. We will be back!

    Aidan2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a stunning place! Front balcony was perfect for a long lady dinner looking over the water. Perfect spot for a night near Port Arthur. We’ll set out, all the amenities you need. Thanks again!

    Rachel2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Taranna is a lovely location, very convenient to anywhere you might want to go on the Tasman Peninsula, and has a pleasant small-scale feel. The shack is just across the road from the jetty and bay, nice for a stroll. The shack is very much as advertised and shown in photos, relaxing to hang out in, spacious, and sitting on the front deck in good weather is very pleasant.

    Helen2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Frankie’s place is a good base to explore the Tasman Peninsula. It is a funky design with a fabulous deck for relaxing with a drink.

    Libby2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing inspiring shack!! The decoration is awesome, Frankie is very nice! We had a great stay. Just if you are sensitive to noise like me, bring your earplugs as it's on the highway (there is not so many traffic though) :) We will come back!!

    Marion2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the best value AirBnbs we have ever stayed in. With really lovely design and great tips on things to do as well a a very friendly and helpful host we can not fault it. Would 100% recommend it!

    Christine2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • I loved how light, colourful and spacious the place is. The shack is on the main Hwy so you hear the traffic but it does have beautiful views. Bedding was average but fine for a few nights.

A simple, earthy cabin built from reclaimed timbers. An intimate retreat to call home during your exploration of Bruny Island. A warm simple and inviting space where natural living meets beauty.if you are looking for a more luxe option have a look at our other accommodation on the property called the hide. Follow us on Instagram @sheepwashbay
The cabin has just had a complete makeover but retains its charm with its original hand dropped bush poles and unique shape. A cosy retreat for a couple with king sized bed, wood heater, indoor kitchenette with outdoor cooking facilities(double gas burners, fridge, saucepans, wok, frypan, kettle etc),bath and good flow hot shower in the one open space room. A set of king billy french doors open onto a deck with expansive views across the channel to the southern ranges (which are capped with snow in winter). • Sheepwash Bay is a secluded gem of a place that makes you want to give up city life and hitch a shack on paddock somewhere. The experience John and jenene have designed is so authentic and special. With little touches like fresh bread in the morning, access to their veggie garden and eggs to morning hugs from their dog Mikey. The shack is beautifully designed, very clean, warm and well equipped. This is the perfect off the grid weekend away, could not recommend more.

    Chris2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

"Self-isolate" in luxury at this quiet beach. This is a safe place to make beautiful memories. Go to sleep to the whispering of the waves. Take a dozen steps on the boardwalk from the lounge and you are on the sand. Stay one night or many weeks. Fish, swim, kayak, snorkel, in full view of the cottage. Gather an armful of driftwood and make a fire in the fire pit on the edge of the beach. We plan to sell the cottage soon, so don't delay your booking! No host contact is required. Be safe!
The cottage was once a beach "shack" that has just been totally renovated, and is quite delightful. It is on the beach, facing north, looking out across the strait towards Victoria on the Australian mainland. It captures all the sun, and is warm winter and summer. The reverse cycle air conditioner/heater deals with the rest. It is light and airy, and we rarely have flies, and no mosquitoes. Doors and windows stay open often day and night. It is close to the street on a "no thru" road, with a covered car port at the front door. There is level access into the cottage, and just one step inside. Whilst not perfect for the disabled, its very good for someone with some mobility issues. Please talk to us about what you need and whether we meet your requirements. Families are very welcome, understanding that children must be supervised at all times. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and a superb view of the surf to the horizon - from bed. In the main bedroom there is a walk in closet and shelving, dressing table/desk and chair, crisp white linen, plenty of pillows, spare blankets, electric blanket, bed lamps, ceiling fan. The second bedroom has a single bed and single trundle bed which will lift up on legs to normal height (or be used at the lower level which seems to work well for small children). If one person is using the room the second bed is out of the way concealed beneath the other bed. There is a large 3 door wardrobe with lots of shelves, bedside table and lamp, fan, full length mirror etc. The bathroom has a generous shower, vanity and toilet, lots of towels, hair drier, tissues, toilet paper. The laundry alcove has a trough and automatic washing machine, iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner, brooms, and there is a clothes line outside. The stunning new kitchen provides dishwasher, microwave, generous fridge/freezer, under bench oven and ceramic hot plates, with all the equipment you could possibly want if cooking appeals. We have a selection of herbs and serving dishes to make it easy. The kitchen has a large sliding window to a server bench and BBQ. The dining area seats 6 for dining with "The View". The open plan lounge area has a comfortable double sofa bed with innerspring mattress, large TV, recliner chair etc. The sofa bed area is not private of course since the living space forms an open "L" shape. We have provided every comfort we can think of to make your stay enjoyable. The cottage is stunning for two, three, or four adults, perfect for a family with children, and definitely full for six (but fun!) There is a USB charger on one of the power outlets. There is wireless internet access, not fast, but ok. Mobile phone coverage is good. There is a herb garden (help yourself); and a nectarine tree, in season of course. On calm nights you can gather driftwood and light a fire in the outdoor fire pit beside the sand, whilst watching the sun set over the sea. The outdoors are very large, seriously close and stunningly beautiful. The rear deck has outdoor seating and in the late afternoon it is just lovely to sit there with a glass of bubbly, coffee or whatever takes your fancy. As it becomes darker, the solar lights flicker on in the boardwalk lighting your way to the sand.
We are in a small enclave of old waterside "shacks" on the edge of the bay at Blythe Heads, the mouth of the Blythe River. Our beach shack has been "rebirthed" and is rather special. The street is old, but the neighbours are nice. For us the extremely rare, unique and intimate connection with the beach, and convenience of the nearby highway outweigh the older buildings of our street, but for some of our guests we have been downgraded to a 3 because of this. We don't want anyone to be disappointed, so please consider if this is important to you. We are only 50 m from the main Blythe Heads roundabout, the area is called Heybridge, 6km from Burnie. (Google maps street view is 15 years old and most misleading). We are very easy to find, and easy as a base to access various Northern Tasmanian attractions. Historic Stanley, Cradle Mountain, Sheffield, Chocolate Factory, Raspberry Farm, Angove Cheese, The Hellyers Road Whisky Distillery, The Purple House at Forth, Penguin shopping, Ulverstone shopping and restaurants, Devonport Spirit of Tasmania (30 minutes) and many more are within easy visiting from here. The smart shopping enclave at Wivenhoe (4km) has cafes (yummy vanilla slice at the bakery) , restaurants, butcher, supermarket, ATM, deli, etc.
  • it was the most awesome room where i have ever lived.

  • A stunning spot, and a stunning space. Immaculate and comfortable. We loved our stay and recommend this great little location and cottage to anyone.

    Karin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cute little place by the sea that my partner and I stayed at for one night. Ross was a lovely host, coming and helping us get the fire started after our long day of driving. Highlights were the hanging lounge in the backyard, which we could have both sat in forever (it was so comfy!), and the fire pit which was so nice to sit by in the evening. It was great to have all the amenities too, as we could cook and do laundry very easily. Would recommend!

    Barb2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beachfront location was lovely. Hosts were very helpful and friendly. A lovely, clean and well appointed cottage.

  • Highly recommend this property, it couldn't have been nicer.....

    Denise2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed here once before and it was just as lovely the 2nd time. The location is stunning, the cottage very tastefully decorated with lots of thoughtful touches, including a batch of homemade brownies on arrival. Janice & Ross are lovely hosts.

    Roger2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ross and Janice's place is absolutely gorgious. The cottage is really comfortable and clean and all needed is available. The close access to the beach is so nice. We came with two children of 7 and 8 and for us it was the ideal spot. The kids enjoyed climbing on the rocks and playing on the beach and all of us had a wonderful and relaxing time.

    Hedwig2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The photos don't do justice to Ross and Janice's home. It's very modern and spacious. The garden and beach area is amazing. We had a great night by the fire. Would definitely come back

From the wilderness deck there are more steps down to the private little Pilot Cove and Tinderbox Marine Reserve, this is the only way other than by boat to reach this part of the reserve. A brilliant spot for a spot of morning yoga and some of the best snorkelling in Tasmania. Sea Eagles are a regular visitor that hunt in the marine reserve, so keep an eye and an ear out. The apartment was architect designed and purpose built. The interior, the furniture, the artwork was all hand crafted just for this one apartment. Solid timber and leather features with some funky but easy to live with lighting that makes this the most unique and relaxing place to stay. Parking is right outside the apartment the kitchen is self contained with a microwave, stove top, sink, fridge and dishwasher. In the bathroom, the bath, shower and toilet have one of the best views you can get. No TV or internet (although sadly your phone will work) just relax on the hand made leather couches, soak up the view, watch the boats and the birds go by. A few hundred meters up the road is a free public tennis court and Piersons Point lookout. A further two kilometers down the road is Tinderbox beach, vineyard, boat ramp and moorings with a small BBQ shelter. Don’t come here if you don’t want to walk up and down a few steps (quite a few!), cant light a fire and you don’t like spending some time relaxing. You can’t fish from this property as it’s in a Marine Reserve, Parties or other guests visiting you will need permission. We live on the property so if you have any questions or require assistance with the sauna or hot tub we can help you out. Our house is 100m away from the apartment and the wilderness deck so you have plenty of privacy, the entire wilderness deck, sauna, hot tub, and cove track are exclusively yours. People find this an ideal place to stay after the day at MONA, spend the evening in the tub and sauna before an early morning snorkel in the marine reserve. 30 minutes form Hobart, 10 minutes up the road is the Blackmans Bay “Hill Street Grocer” a brilliant spot to stock up for a few days. Also at the same Bayview Shopping Centre is a bottleshop baker, newsagent, sushi, hairdresser, pharmacy.

  • What an absolutely wonderful place to stay. The views, the hot tub, the fire pit the facilities are all so amazing. We can't imagine a more tranquil place. We were very impressed by the steps to the seafront! Who would have even thought to build that? And we were thoroughly entertained by the wood chute. Such a great idea. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay.

  • A WOW factor is definitely deserving of this amazingly gorgeous seaside home away from home. A very tastefully decorated home of quirkiness in every nook .. the beds and linen were 5 star. Just sooo comfy. A Very generous well stocked kitchen. If you want to relax and unwind look no further as all you want to do is sit and stare at the amazing views. Glenys was great with communication. We are definitely returning back to this special place .. just awesome.

    Gina2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a special home. As soon as you walk in the door you feel relaxed and happy. The owners have gone above and beyond to create a beautiful, comfortable and unique space. You will want for nothing, lots of little details have been thoughtfully catered for. A real gem. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and didnt want to leave. There was plenty of things to occupy ourselves; books, games, movies/netfix etc , sport equipment and surf gear for adults and children. The views of the ocean are amazing. The ocean sea breeze is so refreshing. The beds were next level of snuggly, warm comfort..like a fluffy cloud. We were grateful to have such a wonderful haven to stay on our trip in Tasmania

    Michelle2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re contemplating booking this accommodation, look no further. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and a wonderful base if you’re doing anything in Hobart, Port Arthur or surrounding areas. The house is just as you’d imagine it and Glenys was great at communicating all the details you’d need to navigate the towns nearby, pickup supplies and check in with ease. Waking up to the sunset in bed and 180 degree ocean views from every room was beyond amazing. Watching the sunset, people surfing and wallaby’s hop past the back fence whilst enjoying a fire with wine and cheese is an experience we will never ever forgot. This home has a lot of love in it, expressed in every detail. We cannot wait to come back again...and again...and again. You can’t go past this place! And if you’re lucky you will get a visit from Dobby the adorable cat from next door.

  • Dear Glenys Mary and Dave, First thing first, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful home with us! This house, I have to say, is so damn beautiful! I can totally feel your love for this place (although only an one-night stay) through all the rich details. I love them! They are so harmonious, vibrant and aesthetic. This is the last night in Tasmania this time and never have I expected the trip to end with such a memorable experience. Thank you for your hospitality. My parents are loving here, too. Wish you all healthy and happy! Thanks, Gracia

A private, romantic cottage on Full Gallop Farm. The QS bed is set before huge windows perfect for watching animals and the sunrise. Meet friendly horses, ducks, dogs and many other animals. Or sit before a cosy wood fire with candles flickering. Perfect for honeymoons, romantic breaks, or to reconnect with nature and each other. Why not try horse riding or a Relationship Development session with our therapy horses? Check out F B full gallop farm stay IG @fullgallopfarm
The Hide is a huge, comfortably appointed, sun drenched building completely separate from the main farm house. The room has a romantic, cozy ambiance, created by the use of rich red velvet soft furnishings, a comfortable Italian leather settee and an abundance of candles. There is a wood burner for the winter and expansive windows which overlook magnificent views of the fields and the surrounding area, right from the comfort of your bed. We can organise an equine development session for you, or arrange a professional massage therapist to visit you for a relaxing massge in your room. The farm is peaceful and restorative and abounds with native wildlife. We grows organic blueberries and we are home to our own equine assisted psychotherapy horses. We provide a breakfast basket on arrival, with bread for toast, fruit toast, fruit in season, homemade marmalade and jam, cornflakes, fruit cakes, lollies and milk and tea and coffee. If you want a refill for the rest of your stay, just ask. Wifi is available but can be temperamental. Good at times and not so good at other times. We are on the NBN, so if it is patchy inside The Hide you are always welcome to come into the house where it is much more reliable. Your mobile will not work well at the farm ... part of being in the country! If your preferred dates are not available please ask as we have other lovely spaces available: Copy and paste: https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/2234437?preview_for_ml https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/9078609?preview_for_ml
Allens Rivulet has a reputation for it's magic. It is restorative to both humans and animals. Many rescued horses placed in this vicinity regain health so quickly as do their owners. It is a beautiful, verdant valley within striking distance of Hobart. Ten minutes to the beaches, fifteen to Hobart and fifteen to Huonville we are surrounded by choice. Another good choice is to sit and look out of the windows at the world at it's best and just restore your energy and rejuvenate.
  • Most enjoyable stay. Worked well as a base for our sightseeing as close to Hobart so we’re able to have the peace and quiet of the farm with all the animals around which we enjoyed. Lesley look after us very well plus nothing was a problem to her and was a pleasure to meet her. Thanks again Lesley. Deirdre & Jim.

  • Amazing place!

    Abigail2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing for a retreat in the nature (but still close enough to the city if needed), especially if you are an animal lover. Lesley is super friendly and helpful for everything necessary. Highly recommended!

    Soner2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley’s place was awesome! If I would have known we would have loved it so much we would have stayed another night or two!! I’d definitely stay again if I returned to the Hobart area. It’s exactly as described on her listing. Our favorites were the views, the friendly mini-horse and the wood burning fire!

    Ben2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • I am not sure where to start. The property was amazing in a beautiful area on an island that seemed to good to be real. The owner went our of her way to make our stay perfect. My wife and 3 year old stayed in "The Hide" cabin and we were so happy with our choice. I poured over many properties to stay all over Tasmania and fell in love with our choice the moment we arrived. There are a bounty of domestic animals and wildlife all around. The cabin was large, more area than we needed. The views and clean air were wonderful. We were able to walk the property freely and visit with all her animals. We were provided with everything we needed and then some. Easy drive to most anywhere we wanted to go. Hobart is close, but you feel like you are in the middle of now where. Excellent!!! Thank you Lesley!!!

    Edward2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay. Lesley’s hospitality was like no other. If you enjoy the beautiful countryside with friendly animals and a warm fire, this place is just for you.

  • Thank you for having us stay in your Earth House the past few nights! Craig and Adam were such easy hosts to communicate with before the trip and amazing while we were there. I would definitely recommend staying here to any friends or family that were travelling to Tassy. The suggestions offered to us for our time there were also a great touch and allowed us to do some extra things we would not have known about otherwise. If you are unsure about where to book and are here reading the reviews, look no further! Book this one!

    Sharne2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Craig and Adam's guest cottage. We looked for a quiet, peaceful and comfortable accommodation that is a little outside of Hobart, yet not too far away to visit Mona, Hobart and the surroundings for a few days. Craig and Adam's place ticked all these boxes, so we were very happy that we found this! Craig and Adam are very friendly, everything is easy and uncomplicated. Craig was super helpful with recommendations and little tips where to go and what to see. Thanks Craig and Adam for making our Hobart visit very pleasant!

    Gunter2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Craig and Adam’s place. Craig is funny, hospitable and went above and beyond what was offered! Thanks so much for everything :)

    Natalie2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at this acommodation. Craig was extremely helpful and provided lot's of helpful tips. There are beautiful surroundings, with lots of wildlife and the cabin is extremely comfortable.

  • If you want to wake up to chirping birds, scenic views and loads of TLC - this is your place to go. Just a half hour outside of Hobart and a world away you will find a beautiful cabin on a mountain. Very clean hot shower and well equipped kitchen as well as a fireplace, big bed and a view to die for. A super warm welcome from both Craig and Adam will make you feel at home in no time. • I loved staying at the Hideaway! The space is though fully designed and presented with underfloor heating, a large rain shower head, and the open roof which was brilliant. The location is an easy walk to the city, Salamanca and Sandy Bay, making many good cafes within walking distance. The list of recommended places to try was also appreciated!

  • Monty’s Hideaway was a great space for us (a couple) to stay for two nights. It was just as described and we loved the opening roof (unfortunately both nights were cloudy). Tasmania's cool climate wines are renowned worldwide and there are around 30 wineries within driving distance of Rosevears. Cellar door tastings which are popular with the tourists are known to be a specialty of the valley. The historic cottage which began life as the Rosevears Post Office (circa 1900's precise build date is unknown), is located directly opposite the river on a level plateau to the front of the property. The neighbour to one side is the historic Rosevears Tavern (a genuine landmark in the area) and diagonally opposite is the popular Rosevears Pontoon. Rosevears is situated along the picturesque Rosevears Drive, a meandering 8km stretch of road which follows the waterside of the Tamar River. The drive between Launceston and Rosevears is a scenic pleasure.

  • Situated directly opposite the water, made for an amazing entry at sunset. Just sat by the window watching the world go by. The cottage made for an enjoyable stay, would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the area.

  • My partner and I had such a lovely, cosy stay here! The views were beautiful, it was conveniently located (we loved having the Rosevears Hotel next door for dinner - and yet, no noticeable noise!) - and easy to visit many local attractions. The cottage provided everything we needed, felt welcoming, and was great value. Also enjoyed visits from neighbouring friendly chickens. Thanks Bec and Tom!

  • Exactly what we were looking for! Quaint, cosy and felt like the middle of the forest! When we arrived we were greeted by an adorable small black and white pooch. He reminded me of my dog back at home who I was missing. The love grove is cosy with plenty of stuff to keep you warm- electric blanket, wood fire heater, extra blanket on top which was plenty. The owners kindly provided bread, eggs, milk, tea, sugar, coffee, OJ, jam, butter and cornflakes! The owners were friendly and left us to our devices which is what you want. We checked out cradle mountain and even saw an echidna just up the road from the property!

  • Beautiful & peaceful retreat. Loved the farm animals and wildlife on the property. Wilmot is a lovely area and we were able to drive to cradle mountain but were away from the other tourists

  • We enjoyed Tania’s cottage so much.. a perfect pit stop for nearby Cradle Mountain. Utterly breathtaking beauty of surrounds- so secluded, private and super romantic! Tania had many homely touches which made our stay extra special including brekky essentials and cool juice in the fridge. Thank you again!

    Ishani2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very private, rustic and comfortable place about 40 minutes from Cradle Mountain. While we never met our hosts, Tania was kind enough to leave substantial breakfast supplies and the wood stove burning for our arrival. Having a washer and dryer was a nice treat! Leaving the door to the bathroom open kept it mostly warm for late night trips. And when we left, we saw a kangaroo hopping along the side of the road!

  • This place is one of the genuine finds of Air BnB and I can’t recommend it enough! The property is located not far from Cradle Mountain and is stunningly beautiful in its own right. There are farm animals as well as some local natives that come down to say hello. Dom was friendly and professional, greeting us on arrival and showing us around. We also took Dom up on his offer of cooking and it was one of the best meals I’ve eaten in my life.

  • Beautiful location with outstanding view of Mt Roland and lots of native wildlife!

    Simon2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The view from the deck is absolutely spectacular. You get to look at Mt. Roland in all its glory - changing constantly throughout the day. The dining table is set up so that you even get to watch the mountain while enjoying your meals. Eclectically decorated, the house was very clean, with good quality sheets and towels. Very comfortable bed. The king bed faces the mountain. Amazing to wake up to that view. Nice to have a BBQ. Communications were excellent. It is a country property, so there is a bit of drive to town and local attractions. However, we loved having the privacy and felt like we had it all to ourselves. Lots of local wildlife to enjoy and of course the 2 horses and 3 sheep. Highly recommend.

    James2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Nothing but great things to say about this AirBnB! A quirky colourful space with huge comfortable beds, the best views in town and plenty of wildlife added in for free. Do yourself a favour and request Dom to cook you dinner - not only do you not have to leave the property, but sharing a memorable meal while drinking in the spectacular views of Mount Roland will ensure a stay you wont forget.

#thebarnTAS is our multi award winning barn conversion. It is located in Hobart's CBD just mere minutes from the city's major cultural and gastronomic attractions including the historic precincts of Salamanca + Battery Point. For 1 night bookings please contact us directly.
Recently renovated by us (two young Architects), our late 1820's sandstone Barn is a truly unique accommodation experience. Our award winning conversion, incorporates light and a refined material palette to accentuate the historic building fabric. Our Barn is located in Hobart's CBD just mere minutes from city's major cultural and gastronomic attractions including the historic precincts of Salamanca + Battery Point. Wake up to city views, relax over a latte at Betsy, pick up a picnic lunch from Pigeon Hole Bakers and cap it all off with a perfectly plated dinner at Aloft! As designers our approach to the Barn has always been to keep as much of the (incredibly beautiful and richly textured) existing building fabric as possible. The original sandstone walls are exposed both internally and externally. The timber shingled roof and existing beams contrast with the new kitchen and bathroom insertion. The Barn is light and open, yet simultaneously cosy.
  • We had a great stay at Liz and Alex’s. It was beautifully designed. We loved the large glass door that could pivot on its hinges out onto the courtyard. Whilst its in the heart of Hobart it felt like we were miles away from town. It has the benefits of convenience paired with being quiet and tranquil. Only thing I’d say is just the lighting at night isn’t that bright for cooking. Perfect for a couple’s getaway! 👌

  • Staying at The Trig is dreamy, we especially loved the fresh local produce our hosts provided free. Susie’s native flower garden is also lovely, cuttings from which grace every room in the house. The bed is deliciously plush. A spectacular stay with thoughtful hospitality and, of course, misty mountain views.

    Sylvia2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, most beautiful nature and fantastic house. All comfort one could ask for, including espresso and a bed heater!

  • My Partner & I were delighted at this Georgeous and very secluded yet very accessible cottage. So many extra touches made our stay special, from the locally sourced breakfast hamper, to the soft linen sheets, fresh flowers and extensive tea selection. Being able to bathe in nature on the deck whilst staring at the stars was a highlight, would love to return.

We think our architecturally designed house is a perfect romantic getaway. We built it for the view, so you can relax with a coffee/wine and enjoy the best of Tasmania's east coast, in comfort. Stroll along the deserted beach & read or listen to our record collection by the fire.
Private bush and beach setting. Very new architecturally designed one bedroom house. This is a quiet, 'non-touristy' area, but in view of Tasmania's East Coast icons. The beach is really long and it's often hard to spot others enjoying it. Fully self contained. All linen provided. The kitchen has a quality, oven, rangehood, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, pots, pans, cutlery and crockery etc, etc. No dishwasher I'm afraid. The bathroom has a big shower area, efficient flush toilet (on a septic system). There is no laundry. But there's a laundromat in Swansea, ten minutes away. We're on tank water, so there's no spa, and water isn't unlimited (10,000L for domestic plus 10,000L reserved for fire). There is a wood heater and plenty of wood if the weather turns nasty, but this is a warm house, so it's very unlikely you'll need it in the warmer months. There's a renovated record player and a library of records. Key collectable from key-safe at gate. We'll advise the code and give other introductory detail the day before you arrive. At times we'll be staying nearby and will be available to show guests the property. Very quiet area. Five acre lots with non permanent residents. The beach is often completely empty (all nine miles). Beautiful, abundant bird and wildlife. Open up the big sliders in the morning and listen to the amazing birdlife. Occasionally we see a snake in warmer months, so keep a watch out when you're on the beach track. You can catch flathead off the beach, if you're patient. A kayak will improve your chances. The beach faces due south and catches a consistent swell. It can be really fun to body surf, and occasionally it's wild. You need to be careful with very small children or non-proficient swimmers. But there are safe places for littleuns to swim nearby. From 'the Lighthouse' you are close (45 min) to iconic Coles Bay and Freycinet, and Maria Island ferry service (50min). We won't try to list all the east coast attractions here. Things to do at our place though, include: everything that might involve the view, and coffee and reading and games and music; beach walks or rides; swimming and body surfing; fishing; sailing. Visit yellowbanks on the lagoon, or the mouth of the lagoon where many people fish and swim, and the pelicans and waterbirds are amazing. Unfortunately we’re not equipped for wheel-chairs. Both external entrances require you to scale stairs. There is a caravan on the lower quarter of this five acre block, obscured by bush. At times we might be using this caravan, but our guests in the lighthouse will have complete privacy. Guests have a separate track to the beach.

  • A beautifully designed space with a great view to The Hazards. A lovely place to unwind and relax. We really enjoyed taking in the view and sampling the great record collection so generously available for use. We hope to stay again.

  • Would recommend this place in a heartbeat! Absolutely fantastic location for a perfect getaway!

    Riley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived, The Lighthouse felt like home. Tucked up in the sand dunes, this private little house had everything we needed for our stay. It was incredibly peaceful, cosy, and the views across the water are beyond beautiful. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. We found that the location was excellent for visiting East Coast wineries and Wineglass Bay. After a day of exploring, The Lighthouse is the perfect place to enjoy some local wine, admire the sunset and maybe spot a wallaby or two hopping by. The kitchen was fully-equipped and very functional, and we loved the array of books and board games in the house. We absolutely loved our stay at The Lighthouse. We wished we never had to leave!

  • Amazing experience, beautiful house - the record collection is fantastic and would strongly recommend anyone to stay here. 10/10

  • The location of this house is absolutely perfect! You get spectacular views from every angle of the house thanks to all of the windows, with many sliding glass doors which allows the ocean breeze to flow through. Beautiful sunrises & sunsets. Had a few wallabies roaming the yard which was really cute to see. This house is a must stay if you’re in the Freycinet area.

    Rachael2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property by the beach. Plenty of natural light, cozy & homely decor, well-equipped kitchen for home cooked meals, and a very comprehensive folder with suggestions for things to do in the area. We even had bonus sightings of wallabies hopping up to the property, and an amazing view of the stars on a clear night. Highly recommend Mick & Lisa’s home!

Our comfortable modern industrial style apartment is situated in our private oasis of a garden. With a queen bed, quality linen, fast unlimited wifi and Netflix. We have a few gorgeous chickens, a Springer spaniel pup and red kelpie dog. Located 15min walk to CBD, and 5min to shops and other necessities. Safe on-street parking directly out the front.
The studio space comfortably suits a couple. A kitchenette and fridge for the late night snack or a 3 course meal. The apartment is very private on its own floor with newly renovated bathroom. Our home is on the next level, so occasionally you may hear footsteps from above, as you might see from our reviews this is very rarely an issue, however we want to be transparent about the space. The accomodation is very safe and private with gated entry.
We live opposite Invermay Oval, a stones throw from UTAS Stadium, a short walk to Heritage Park and the North Esk river. We don't have any direct neighbours, so although an active area the accomodation is private and quiet. That being said, occasionally it can be a little active when the oval is being used across the road. Deli, grocery, laundromat restaurants and shops are a 5 min walk away.
  • Anthony and Leeroy's space is lovely. So stylish and cozy. A basement unit that still feels airy and bright! The fresh bread was a lovely tough, as were the eggs. The garden was beautiful and I wish we had more time to enjoy it. As a basement unit it did have a bit of noise from movement upstairs but it didn't affect our stay. Thanks so much Anthony and Leeroy! Would definitely stay again!

Would stay again and can recommend.

  • We had a lovely stay at Anthony’s place. The space was very stylish and clean. The garden is really peaceful and beautiful and they shared some of its produce with us. A highlight was that our little dog had a secure yard to play in and loved the company of Bam and August the two resident dogs. Check in was smooth and we had everything we needed. Highly recommended.

**AS FEATURED IN COUNTRY STYLE, REAL LIVING, HOME BEAUTIFUL, GOOD WEEKEND MAGAZINE, LIVING ETC UK, DESIGN SPONGE, CONDÈ NAST TRAVELLER, MILK DECORATION** Captains Rest is my haven of peace and serenity in a stunning secluded slice of the West Coast World Heritage Area.
Captains Rest is our special spot for 2. Our bed looks out the antique windows to the water — as does our restored clawfoot bath. She's cozy with everything we need to luxuriate, and the Nectre wood stove keeps us cozy. If you have instagram, you can follow both our guests and our personal stays at @captainsrest
We are all about soaking it up. Walk in the forest next to Captains Rest, swim in the water, fires on the beach and long nights reading in front of the fire. Watch the night stars reflect on the water, and listen on the bird songs upon awakening. Lettes Bay Historical village itself is a hive of wild west coast activity in summer, and almost abandoned in winter. We love both equally.
  • Even better in real life ....and I’ve drooled over many photos and magazine and books that show this extraordinary piece of the world. Nightly rainbows 🌈 for that added bit of nature’s magic. The personal touches and detailed notes make this place one of the best. I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

    Jane2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's place is amazing. From the moment you step into the cottage, you know you are in for a real treat. The level of care and thought put into selecting each piece of furnishing is astounding. The cottage even smells good! We enjoyed having a stroll along the bay, feeding the ducks out front and chilling, gazing at the ever-changing weather outside through the large windows. The cottage even has it's own Spotify playlist to set the mood! Highly recommended!

Their property feels very private even though the main house is not far away. It’s quite close to the town of Bicheno which had some lovely seafood, great wineries such as Devils Corner and also Freycinet National park. Ross is a beautiful, historic village set in the Midlands of Tasmania. We have a very special community, and after living here for almost 11 years, it is a pleasure to provide additional budget accomodation so that more tourists can visit and share the Ross experience. We have operated Stone Cottage as a holiday cottage for more than 10 years and have met wonderful guests from mainland Australia, and worldwide.

  • Ah-ma-zing space! So bright and open and welcoming. My husband and I started our honeymoon here and it was 100% the right choice. With The Berry Patch (Friday night pizza nights 👌🏼💕) a short walk around the corner and the freeway so close yet far enough to not hear the traffic - perfect!! The window nook in the dining area was our favourite! We spent our nights here playing card games and having tea. Highly recommend anyone looking for a base camp to explore Tasmania’s North West - this is it! 🎉 Plenty of storage space and is very kid friendly so great for families on holidays too.
