Thetford Holiday Rentals

Just booked in Thetford

A substantial 5/6 bedroomed detached house set in a rural location surrounded by farmland. Private heated Indoor and Outdoor pool, Hot Tub and own Woodland set on 1.5 acres with treehouse, summerhouse and fire-pit. Inglenook fire place. Sky/BT Sport with surround sound. Now lit with fast broadband across woodland and into the home...
Welcome to Shepley House.. our pride and joy for years and now for others to savour. Nestled off the beaten track but accessible for nearby shops, cycle ways, pubs and great walks lives Shepley House. Set in an area of about 1.5 acres, this country retreat offers more than you bargained for ! We are surrounded by a farm ! That means we get deer, hedgehogs, jack rabbits, hares, grouse and all of kinds of wildlife wondering in. Don't worry, they keep out of your way but if you are lucky you might see them. It's also an excellent spot for bird watchers so I am told. In fact, we have a viewing gallery in the midst of its own Woodland from where you can sit still and just listen out for wildlife, or hop down and cook something up in the firepit if your tummy's rumble ! For either on hot or cold days you can then enjoy the luxury of an indoor heated pool, have a dip, swim a few lengths (or just float about) and then retire to the hot tub and sip a cold drink or cup of tea. On warm days, why not open the side panel and retract the roof and get the sunshine on your back whilst you swim up and down... On cold winter nights, why not relax in the snug in front of a roaring fire and dry off whilst dinner is being prepared, or call out to one of our many outlets that can deliver to you. Or simply nestle into the lounge and watch or film or catch the latest game or play a dvd, a video game or just read a book...its all up to you. The nights are free from light pollution so it makes for great star gazing if this all becomes too much, just have a midnight stroll and get lost in the gaze of the stars. If you have any further requirements, for example we can provide gazebo, entertainment, face painting, hog roast facilities etc, please get in touch for more details ! Please respect the environment PLEASE CAN ALL GUESTS REMEMBER TO BRING THEIR OWN SWIMMING TOWELS - WE WILL PROVIDE STANDARD TOWELS. PLEASE NOTE This is a rural location with the main attractions being this setting and other activities mainly relating to wet facilities. Broadband is provided but is subject to the whims of the telecoms provider and is not seen as a key feature of the stay. We have however recently installed a broadband network (SIM Wifi) which is accessible from the house and woodland - data can be purchased on demand, please contact our team for further details.
You have some truly great pubs nearby, the Crown, a mix of old and new in Great Ellingham. The Red Lion has incredibly friendly owners who will make you feel at home in Caston. The Waggon & Horses just further down from that will give you an old pub feel with pots and pans and good quality English fayre. Also if you go into Attleborough there is a couple of fantastic Indian eateries: One we recommend is the Shapla Tandoori where you will be treated like King & Queen !
  • A big house with large living space and large bedrooms, huge garden along with a pool and tub so we had a blast. It's fairly isolated which we liked, so take what you need with you, and Garry is very responsive to any queries.

    James2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a lovely long weekend with friends at Shepley House. The large gardens was a highlight and much enjoyed by the four toddlers, as well as the pool. The hot tub provided a welcome break for the adults as well. The dining room is a tight squeeze, and the kitchen could be bigger, but both are perfectly workable. The main living space is lovely. All in all, a relaxing place to get away from it all.

    John2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this house for a hen party. Garry was very quick to respond to any queries I had in the run up to our stay, and very helpful. The house itself is perfect for a group weekend away; big open living room, lovely hot tub and pool, and beautiful gardens. One slight downside is the kitchen is rather small relative to the size of the house but is only a minor issue compared to everything else this house offers. Many thanks Garry!

    Nikki2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful weekend at Shepley House. The house was perfect, good size rooms and plenty of space for 10 of us. The garden, pool and hot tub were a definite highlight! Easy to get to from train station at Attleborough and a wonderful welcome box on arrival. Host was very helpful in providing all information needed.

    Sophie2015-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Garry is a fantastic host, he was there to greet us on arrival & was extremely understanding of our delayed arrival. Garry gave us a full tour of the house & explained how things worked. The house suited our needs perfectly. We all absolutely loved the fact we had no phone signal & enjoyed lots of chatting & laughing. Thank you Garry!

    Emily2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • The house was amazing! It had everything we wanted and needed for a fun and relaxing hen weekend. We all felt at home right away and the hot tub and pool were great for relaxing in. Garry was happy to answer any questions we had during our visit in regards to the house (and we had quite a few!) I would definitely stay there again - just need a reason!

    Sarah2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic sized house. Perfect for a big group. Lovely welcome left also

    Stacey2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • A really fantastic Airbnb experience. Lovely house with lots of different little quirks. The master bedroom open plan bathroom is great! The living space is amazing. The big sofa easily and comfortably accommodates everyone and is great if you intend to watch some telly (we watched the Six Nations rugby!). It's also a great space to play boardgames. Garry and the gang were great communicators and getting in and away was really straight forward. All in all, would recommend whole heatedly!

Our place is close to everything in the town-centre. Very close. You’ll love it's separate hidden cosiness. Smallish but unusual, with own wc/wet-room. Has cuppa-kit, light breakfast goods, food-heat/chill, use of veg garden and home-kitchen on request. The annex is good for couples, solo adventurers, contractors & business travellers.
The entry to my home is thru an old building - where you'll be staying. The main picture shows the passageway, with the doors to the room and wetroom. The doors open away from each other, meaning you can pass between invisibly - my kitchen window (mainly behind leaves) is the only one which looks directly on to the annex. Use an entry code to come & go as you wish.
Thetford is a very historic town. There's museums, Dad's Army tours, and High Lodge Thetford Forest Adventure Park (Go Ape, Cycle Trails, Concerts, more) 5 miles away There's a nightclub, cinema and half-dozen pubs within a few minutes walk. There's plenty of eateries minutes if not seconds away, and there's a European supermarket open to 10pm yards away. It's town-centre, but mostly quiet, being enclosed by walls. On the edge of Thetford Forest and at rivers convergence, there's a lot of nature to be found with just a short walk.

  • Such a sweet spot tucked away in the middle of the town. Easy to access with public transportation. We loved the hospitality we received and the privacy. It's tight quarters, but it served us well as we just needed a quiet place to stay and recover from the bustle of London.

    Alina 2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • I Loved the Place. Karen Is So Welcoming and Nothing Any Bother. Everything was Perfect and Ideal Location. Karen's Communication is Great and had Response to Emails and in Person Quickly. • Great no frills place to stay, great location and you can come and go as you please. It is next to the road but they seem to turn the traffic off at nine o'clock so it was never a problem. Marcelo and his wife seemed very friendly and happy people who just let you get on with your own thing. I would certainly use this place again if I needed to.

    Andrew2017-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • I needed a place to stay between playing piano at a wedding and travelling to a festival the next day. Marcello was very accomodating, showed me the room and was fine with me arriving back quite late after my gig. Don't expect uber luxury, but if you just need a place to put your head down for the night then this listening is perfect and the best value stay I've had

  • One of the best airbnb's ive stayed in! Such a perfect set up and very peaceful. Gwyneth's communication was brilliant too. Totally recommend!

    Claire2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you are visiting the area and. Need a base to stay-this is the place! Cosy, immaculately clean, tasteful decor and everything you could need for a break in the countryside! Can't wait to return!

    Glenn2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is out of a fairytale, beautifully appointed and the host Gwyneth is wonderful. We arrived late and Gwyneth came out immediately when we were unsure if we were in the right place, chatted for a brief bit and then let us get on to getting settled. The cottage is small, but very stylish and plush. It is also very nicely appointed and we had everything we needed and then some. We did have some issues on our first night with the wifi signal and lack of reception there, but Gwyneth worked to get it resolved. The rain shower is beautiful and new and like the rest of the cottage the wc is immaculate! We would highly recommend Gwyneth's cottage and hope to stay with her again, if she will have us and our pups! :)

  • Quavers Rest is a beautiful studio in the countryside. Central in the village, next to the green, it really was an idyllic place. We were at an event at Euston Park and the location was perfect. We had to pop in and out at strange times due to having our horse stabled nearby and this was accommodated by the hosts. Lovely place, lovely people, easy communication and not intrusive in any way as hosts. 100% recommended.

    Susy2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house was lovely... we really had arrived in a little bit of heaven! Easy to find, great parking - the house itself is utterly beautiful, very clean with everything you could need. Really excellent value for money! Gwyneth was really helpful and made everything as easy as possible for us. Thanks so much - we hope to see you again!

Quiet single bedroom, sitting room and private shower room. Cooked breakfast. Six-minute walk to Rail Station; 13-minute walk to town centre and coach station. Very friendly family pet, dog.
A detached, newly renovated 1930s three-bedroom house, which is a 13-minute walk to Thetford town centre.
The property is in a well-established residential area with easy access to the rail station, abbey ruins, castle mound and town centre, with attractive riverside walks and a lovely nature reserve run by the British Trust for Ornithology. It is a six-minute walk to an Aldi supermarket and a 30-minute walk to Thetford Forest. Thetford town centre has a number of reasonably-priced restaurants and a highly-rated gourmet restaurant. The Red Lion, which is part of the Wetherspoons chain, offers delicious food at a very reasonable price and is a 15-minute walk from the property. There is also a newly-opened cinema and a number of museums. The property is an hour's drive to Walsingham and Suffolk and Norfolk beaches. There is also easy access to Cambridge and Norwich by train.
  • I had an excellent stay at Helvi and Ralph's place in Thetford. The location is excellent: It's just a few minutes walking from the train station, and the town centre is also minutes away. Helvi and Ralph are also very attentive and kind hosts. This was the first place I've stayed at on Airbnb with a cooked breakfast (and I've been doing this for years), and given that this was a business trip for me, it certainly is a great way to start off the day. Otherwise, their home is beautiful (recently renovated), communication was quick and easy and everything matches the description. In short, I highly recommend Helvi and Ralph's home in Thetford.

    John2017-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay with very nice hosts.

    Ad2017-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with Helvi and Ralph for a week whilst on a uni placement and found them both to be extremely warm, friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable in their lovely home. Helvi makes an absolutely top notch breakfast which I certainly found myself looking forward to each day! Really was such a treat! All in all I couldn't rate my stay or recommend Helvi and Ralph's place highly enough and I plan to stay with them again. P.S. their dog is delightful :)

    Lydia2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great friendly hosts. When I arrived they couldn't have been nicer. The house is lovely with a fantastic garden. I was shown around and informed where everything was, they made me a drink, had a chat, gave me information and directions etc. etc. The house is very central to the town centre - just a 5-10 minute walk gets you there. The next morning Helvi prepared my breakfast which set me up nicely for the next leg of my cycle tour to Lowestoft.

    David2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Helvi and Ralph were lovely hosts who went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. It was a very last minute booking and communication was great! They also have the loveliest dog and a beautiful home.

Even gave me a lend of a lovely dress shirt for a formal occasion at RAF honington as I had forgotten mine.. really appreciate that. • A very very last minute booking. Thank you very much for taking us in so late otherwise we would of had to sleep in McDonald's as all the hotels in town were booked!

  • Maria is a very sweet lady whom kindly let me book the room at the last minute. Although she did not speak much English, she had her daughter to translate and convey information to me. She was fine with me arriving late as I had been travelling all day long. The room was comfortable and the place was clean. She provided me with breakfast and made sure I ate before leaving even though I felt shy. She also walked me to the base of the town and directed me towards it on the way to work which I found very helpful. She made me feel like I was home with her motherly personality.

  • Olivia and Henry were amazingly hospitable, eating dinner with us the first night and sharing with us the history of the family and the farm. We ate carrots from the farm and were encouraged to explore the fields and pick a few samples. Our 5 year-old son greatly enjoyed inspecting each of the crops, digging out a few potatoes, selecting an onion, and extracting a sugar beet from the vast rows in the fields. The house is modern inside and very clean. Internet is fast. The kitchen has more than enough dishes and cookware for everyone (we shared the kitchen for a few meals). Henry took our son on a ride in the tractor to pull a large irrigation hose out across a field and back again. We feel like we learned so much about farming and how we get the fresh food that we enjoy from the grocery stores!

Our beautiful residential centre offers 50 comfortable beds in 10 separate bedrooms, a drying room, ample shower/toilet facilities, large commercial kitchen, dining hall, comfy room and outside seating areas. Good access to cycle trails and walks. Please Note we DO NOT accept Stag or Hen do's, All male/Female Groups who which to have a party. Our centre is for Youth groups, Schools and families only. No dogs allowed.
  • This centre in Thetford Forest is designed mainly for school groups but was ideal as an affordable place to get together with our large group of friends and children. We were about 15 people and had full run of the place. The rooms and toilets were clean. The large, well-equipped kitchen was ideal for our needs. Above all the outdoor space was excellent, with lots of benches, a large fire pit and a shelter to eat under if it rains. You have to book outdoor activities (eg, archery and climbing) in advance, but there are lots of walks and cycle trails. All the rooms were packed with bunk beds and the odd single bed. Bedding is provided, though you have to bring your own towels. The grounds are used by instructors and small groups involved in one or other activity. The instructors sometimes come in to use their office in the centre. Couples wanting a secluded getaway should look elsewhere, eg, the tree houses in the holiday centre next door. But if you want a place with outdoor activity, lots of space for young people, but still with a bit of privacy for adults, Woodland Lodge is terrific.

  • We had an amazing time at the Woodland Lodge and it was perfect for what we needed. Many thanks to our hosts for having us stay.

  • This place was perfect for my needs - hosting a lot of people for a party. Despite being bunkbeds, the beds are pretty comfortable. The centre has everything you need and we were able to get a food shop delivered there. Walks through the forest are signposted from the centre. All in all, a great weekend.

  • We went as a group of 5 families with kids ranging from 3-9 years old. The space and freedom that this place affords meant that we had a great time. Tim our host also organised some impromptu kayaking for our group which was brilliant, and reasonably priced. Couldn't have had a better time. The shared showers were clean and the water hot. We had the whole place to ourselves which was brilliant and the big catering kitchen meant that we could easily cook up a storm for all 23 of us. Would go back in a heartbeat. Ps dont forget to check the centres website for details of all their other activities - we would have booked more if we had known!

    Claire2016-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best places of family get togethers and holidays . There were 7 families in our group with children age range from 3 to 16. Everybody had great time . Kids can explore and do lots of things . No one will get bored . Loved every moments in this lovely place .

  • Very nice - everything as listed.

  • Alex greeted us on the morning of our stay and walked us through the lodge and what there is to offer. The lodge was perfect for our trip, plenty of room for us all and a massive hall area to celebrate the new year in. The area was lovely, a pretty forest location with walks, bike paths etc. Very lovely setting. I would definitely recommend this accommodation, it was brilliant value for money too!

Home to Philip and Tibouche Gunn, lovers of all things beautiful. A fine example of a spacious Georgian Farm House. Set in the rural village of Euston with idyllic courtyards and gardens. The rooms 5 star and breakfasts hearty with plenty of choice.
The unique thing about this house is that you get all the trappings of a 5 star hotel but without the formalities. Large stylish rooms, ceilings, a feeling of heritage but with modern touches. Luxurious beds with fluffy pillows. Fresh linen and attention to detail with fresh flowers and relaxing decor. Most guests love to sit with a glass and chat by the fire in the winter or outside by the Summer House in the summer.
Euston is an idyllic village owned by The Duke and Duchess of Grafton. Euston Hall is just along the road and is surrounded by a beautiful park which has it's own Christopher Wren church. Grange farm makes a great base for exploring surrounding areas; Bury St Edmunds for it's historic Cathedral which holds the Magna Carta. It also has one of England's last remaining Georgian Theaters, a picturesque Market Place, good quality shops and an variety of good restaurants. Closer to Euston is Walsham le Willow where you will find Wyken Vineyards, one of England's finest Wineries, Shop, Restaurant and Cafe set in landscaped gardens. Thetford of course is convenient for the train station (3 miles from Euston)
  • We arrived in beautiful rural Suffolk where a small number of homes stand on the edge of or are inside the boundaries of an Estate. Our hosts have renovated several local buildings and Grange Farm is their current home. As we walked through the door we were welcomed, given a glass of wine, and generally accepted with open arms. Tibouche and Phillip both entertained us from the start and we enjoyed swapping stories. The room was excellent, charming and clean. We did not eat supper with the hosts but they directed us to several places locally which were very nice and authentic. Breakfast was awesome: an English Newspaper; stylish and locally produced cooked breakfast; cereal; yoghurt (gorgeous); juice; tea; anything you would want. Tibouche pulled off a miracle by providing a dress to fit the wedding's dress code (beyond the call of duty but a stroke of genius). Over all we had a wonderful stay, exactly what we wanted with the added bonus of timely help in a small admin emergency. Firmly recommended.

  • Grange Farm is a magnificent place to stay and we were completely blown away by its beauty, charm, and the idyllic surrounding grounds. Tibouche and Philip were simply lovely hosts who always made us feel welcome. We found that an excellent decanted bottle of red wine awaited us on our arrival in a room which was spacious, warm, and stylish. The bed was really comfortable and gave us a great night’s sleep. Our hosts detailed personalised tips on what to see and do and even where to eat during our stay so that we had a true and refined taste of what Norfolk had to offer. We enjoyed their company immensely, especially on the last night when we had the chance to gather around the fire place and share a drink together. Before we knew it the early hours of the morning were upon us! This has been one of our most memorable stays, something we will always cherish. We would love to visit again in the future and I for one will definitely be back for the farmer’s wife breakfast. It has got to be one of the best fry ups we have had. All locally sourced and made with love. Thank you so much again! Baz

  • Tibouche responded quickly to our enquiries and arranged a very large sunny and cosy room for us to stay in. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and there were all the extra toiletries and tea/coffee facilities that we needed. Tibouche and Phillip were friendly and welcoming hosts who really made us feel pampered, especially the wonderful cooked breakfast in the morning! We had a fantastic stay a left with a big list of local places to visit and places to eat/drink :)

  • Tibouche and Philip truly have the gift of hospitality! They were welcoming and friendly and the house and room had beautiful extra touches (including some wonderful artwork by Tibouche). A really special place to stay.

    Esther2015-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Grange Farm is simply wonderful. The room is massive, the bed is super comfy, the building is delightful and Tibouche and Philip are amazing hosts. They made us feel so welcome and we simply loved chatting with them and hearing their delightful stories. A real home from home. Even though the wi-fi doesn't work in the room, we were able to use the dining room (for a connection) with no problems at all. Can't wait to go back to such a lovely house and people!

    Simon2015-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter and I had the pleasure of staying at the Grange Farm while visiting nearby friends for the holidays. Tibouche and Phillip were gracious and amazing hosts throughout our stay, and the accommodations were warm and inviting...perfect for us. Tibouche is also a wonderful cook! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely look forward to a repeat visit in the future. Thank you so much for the great memories Tibouche & Phillip - and Happy New Year!

    Anita2015-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great pleasure staying at Tibouche and Philip's house. Not only is the property lovely so is the surrounding village. Cosy room, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast and warm hospitality! A perfect place to stay!

  • We so enjoyed our first experience with Tibouche and Phillip that we came back as soon as we could, and this time had supper there too (also highly recommended!)

Also evening meals and dinner parties can be arranged upon request. After a day of trying out any of the above, it is always a joy to get home to the Grange for a fireside drink, long soak in a hot bath before coming down for a real homemade farm house supper 'experience' All this at an incomparably low price.
Travellers the world over visiting the UK will have heard of Euston, London's main railway station serving the British Isles all points north. Conversely, a very tiny number will have heard of Euston, the charming little village located on the borders of Norfolk and Suffolk from which, many years ago, the rail terminus took its name. The story goes that one of the Dukes of Grafton - some time during the mid 1800's - sold the bit of land he owned in London to the Railway Company on the proviso that, if ever they turned it into a mainline station, then they must call it Euston, so-called after Euston Hall, the outstanding and beautiful stately residence, home to the Duke's of Grafton over several hundred years.

We had not visited the area before and found the place to be well located and we were able to visit a number of sites in Suffolk easily, including Lavenham, Ickworth house and Bury St Edmunds. After a long day of exploring, Ellen's place was a delight to return to in the evening! We would definitely recommend Ellen's place to anyone looking for a getaway to Suffolk!

Everything was spotless inside the house, decor was great and really comfortable. Ellen left us some amazing locally sourced produce for breakfast which went down a treat. • Wonderful weekend!!! These tents are awesome and such luxury - they did not skip on any detail. We loved our glamping and the farm is awesome. It rained a lot but did not matter at all. Both nights were dry so girls could play until late at night in the fields and play area while we enjoyed drinks on our terrace. Louise was great during the booking process as I had some trouble with the app but worked out well. The camp sight is easy to find and loads to do in the surrounding area. We will definitely be back.

  • Our stay at Breckland Manor was the first time we used Airbnb. We were not disappointed with our choice. Yes it is secluded but the peace and quiet was just what we needed coming from an urban area. And waking up to the sounds of nature and beautiful surroundings was sublime. We received a very warm welcome from Rebecca and Mike, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are fantastic and comfortable and we especially enjoyed the fresh eggs from their ducks and chickens. We would recommend Breckland Manor to all future visitors and we are looking forward to staying there again.

"You feel at home the minute you walk through the door..." Our 18th century village home has three roomy guest bedrooms, modern private bathroom and a great guest sitting room (with smart TV). Delicious cooked breakfast included, superfast broadband, tea & coffee-making facilities and use of kitchen if required. Country walks, soft comfy sofas, log-burning stove and games cupboard as the nights draw in; lovely gardens, table tennis and outdoor pool in summer. Period charm with a modern twist.
Note that we host only one party at a time. So, whether there's one of you or six of you, all the guest facilities will be for your use only while you are staying with us. There are three spacious guest bedrooms, two doubles with king size beds and one with twin single beds that interconnects with one of the doubles. There is also a large private sitting room (see 'guest access'). If your booking involves three couples, it is often possible to have another double room with king bed instead of the interconnecting room with the single beds. Just ask if this is available at the time of booking. The Grade 2 Listed house is part 17th Century, part 18th Century and part 19th Century, but with all mod cons including superfast broadband and a contemporary bathroom with a great shower; this is not ensuite but it is for the private use of guests only. There is also a private second shower room which is handy for larger groups. We also supply tea and coffee etc (plus kettle and water cooler) upstairs in the shared sitting space between the two double bedrooms.
The beautiful market town of Bury St Edmunds is only 15 minutes away by car, as is Thetford Forest in the other direction. And Cambridge is just an hour away. There are plenty of places to eat within a few miles and a village shop just up the road plus several more a couple of miles away. The whole area is superb cycling country and there are some lovely Suffolk Wildlife Trust reserves, such as Redgrave and Lopham Fen, a short drive away. I have put together a list of places to eat around here, including website addresses and post codes for your satnav. Please just ask me to email it to you if you would like to take a look before you come.
  • We really enjoyed our stay with Jane and Roger, who were both warm and welcoming hosts. The house is in a lovely rural setting, and a car is essential, but within easy reach of main roads and towns. The accommodation given to us was very spacious- we had 3 doubles between 3 single people - with the landing made into a nice seating area with plenty of tea, biscuits and fresh milk which was much appreciated. Comfy beds and 2 lovely showers along with great breakfasts made this a lovely stay. Big thumbs up from us! Thank you Jane and Roger

    julie2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jane's Airb'n'b remains the best in the area by far. We can't wait to stay again, and to bring even more family members to experience how wonderful it is!

    lynn2017-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and Roger are a fantastic friendly couple who made you feel at home straight from arriving. We have had the most relaxing and interesting break. They are very knowledgeable and we could have spent all day chatting, sadly we only booked for one night. The gardens are amazing, the pool is a hidden gem and the breakfast was in our eyes legendary! We will be returning when we need a stress free break away. Thank you Jane and Roger x

    pauline2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Once again Jane's hospitality is first class. Always receive a friendly welcome, bedroom and bathroom are of the highest quality. My only issue is that I don't have the opportunity to stay over more often

    Richard 2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly, there are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe this wonderful home and garden and its warm, friendly and accomodating hosts. From the outset Roger and Jane made our family most welcome. They are the quintessential hosts, your every need is taken care of with numerous bedrooms, bathrooms and a lounge area available for your private use. The home cooked breakfasts are plentiful and amazing. If you are wanting a stay in a quiet village that is not far in driving distance from Berry St Edmunds or a forty minute drive to the larger town of Ipswich (nothing for a family of Australians such as ours) this is the place for you. The aesthetically please Georgian home with its delightful gardens highlighted with sculptural nuances, combined with its lovely hosts is a gem.

    Colin2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jane's place was everything we could have hoped for and more! It was like staying in a national trust property, an art exhibition, a show Garden, a family home and a hotel all in one! It was perfect for our family reunion and to access Hengrave Hall for a family wedding. Jane and Roger were the perfect hosts, the breakfast was delicious and we would whole heartedly recommend a stay here. So much gratitude to you both.

    Carly2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience at Jane's place! The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the private landing area where she had coffee and tea available. The shower and breakfast was also really nice!! Jane was friendly and welcoming and had a beautiful garden as well. The drive to Bury St Edmunds was quick and easy and provided for lots of nearby entertainment. We would love to go back and stay again!

    Rachel2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and Roger, our hosts, gave us a warm, friendly and welcoming reception. It was almost like meeting up with old friends as they made us feel so much at home (their home!). The house was lovely with exceptional facilities set in a picturesque rural location. We enjoyed our short stay and would love to come back for a re-visit. This home is so relaxing with plenty of books to read, swimming or relaxing by the pool and listening to the birds or admiring their beautiful plants and garden, if you need to retreat, this would be the ideal place. Next time we shall spend more time exploring the neighbourhood, but as we were visiting relatives on the other side of Suffolk, we didn't really get the time to do that during our short stay. We had exceptional beds and breakfasts provided by Jane and Roger which we can't rate high enough. We also appreciate everything that was done for us during our short stay with Jane and Roger, nothing was too much trouble for this lovely couple. Thank you. Highly recommended.

  • Thank you to Tony and Ness for a fantastic stay! We stayed to celebrate my parents 50th with 2 young children and 5 adults, the place was perfect, clean and offered everything we wanted even if the weather didn't. The treehouse blew my kids away and played in everyday and the hot tub was fun for both kids and all adults! The garden was safe and perfect size to keep our dog happy. The kitchen diner was to die for every home should have one. The beds were very comfy with lovely soft pillows unlike the rock hard ones usually offered. All in all a lovely stay, would love to stay at christmastime with the log burner. Thank you for a lovely welcoming stay and helping our family make some lovely memories. Ness and Tony were the perfect host, very accomodating and friendly.

  • This is a great location for Thetford forest and Norfolk in general. Plenty of space and things to do in the house, two large double rooms, one single and one twin. Well equipped and spacious kitchen, late hot tub that seats six or seven, and a large lounge area too with wifi and fast enough broadband for Netflix etc. Parking for at more cars than you will need! We will definitely return.

    Matt2017-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time. Two families with dogs and still loads of space. The kids loved the Treehouse and garden and we enjoyed the Hot Tub. The bungalow has everything you need and is very comfortable. Good dog walking down the lane and places to visit close by. Tony and Ness are very helpful.

We got Chinese takeaway from a place 15 mins drive away (came recommended by Tony & Ness) and it was the best Chinese takeaway we'd ever had. Loved it.

Bright, rustic, quaint: a self-contained and tranquil haven with views over the Norfolk countryside from sunny verandah. Fully functional kitchenette, full-sized bath with shower head. Shared courtyard garden. Breakfast is included. Two lovely Vintage bicycles available to borrow.
A simple, cosy, tranquil space. Sunny verandah and little private place to watch the sun go down. Enclosed garden, ideal for children. Friendly cats, bats to watch at night, and maybe even the odd hen will come visiting...
The cabin is down a sandy track that leads to the river Thet with lovely views across the fields past an oak tree with swings. Very pleasant bicycling...close to Thetford Forest.
  • We had a lovely time here

    Carolyn2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for 8 weeks as I had a work placement in Norwich, and I had a really good time. The cabin was very nice, with lovely decor and it felt extremely homely. However, the thing that makes this place really special is the warmth of the hosts (Rob and Robyn) and their family, all of whom made me feel extremely welcome from day one. The location was very pretty, with some lovely walks nearby and not too far from Attleborough for anyone with a bike. The amenities were good as well, with a small kitchenette equipped with a gas hob, toaster, kettle, fridge and sink with plenty of crockery and space to store food. This is a really good place to see lots of wildlife too. A couple your are almost guaranteed to see are the muntjacs which wander around the country lanes and the bats which flood out of the weatherboard ( directly opposite the cabin) at dusk, just as the sun is setting. If you want to reconnect to nature and take a relaxing break then I would definitely recommend this cabin, Rob and Robyn (and all of the family) are truly lovely people and you would make you feel at home straight away.

  • Wow what a lovely place, we had a great stay, so peaceful and everything was so thoughtfully arranged. It was so nice to arrive to after a long drive, and there was even really delicious homemade bread on the side, I must ask for the recipe!

    George2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great accommodation, unique! Home baked bread for breakfast. It was not an issue for me but there is no TV, to be honest you do not need one in this beautiful part of Norfolk.

A unique rural barn with vaulted ceiling and medieval beams provides a tranquil but contemporary space, with a separate bathroom and extra storage space . Small space with kettle and breakfast items - tea, coffee, milk , muesli, yoghurt. No fridge or kitchen. Uninterrupted views from bi-fold doors to the private patio, mature garden and meadows. Tranquil and private, great for birdwatching. Table and chairs on patio for your own use. Sorry, no TV or wifi.
The barn has been designed to feel like part of the large and beautiful garden in which it is set. It has a lovely restful atmosphere and we have aimed to preserve the historic feel of the barn, but with some modern amenities, though sorry - no wifi or TV. If you need to use wifi and we are here you are always welcome to use ours.
Bardwell is a beautiful Suffolk village 10 miles from Bury St Edmunds, Diss and Thetford. Cambridge and Norwich are 40 minutes (approx) by road. Locally, the village windmill has an award-winning bakery open on Wednesdays through to Saturdays. There is also a medieval church, and the village is part of the 'Millers Trail'. There is an excellent cafe in Ixworth and there is also a lovely one at The Leaping Hare, Wyken Vineyard, both only about 2 miles away. There are numerous nature reserves nearby and birdwatchers will find it great for this. It is an excellent area for walking and cycling. There are several pubs locally which serve evening meals (with good reviews), but only the village pub is within walking distance.
  • Fantastic modern converted barn, overlooking the lovely garden, where you could have breakfast. In a quiet secluded village. Local pub you can walk to and villages a drive away to eat. Wished we had time to stay longer. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

  • The barn was exactly as advertised and Ruth couldn't have been more helpful in answering any questions we had before arriving. The groceries on hand (breakfast foods, tea, coffee) etc were a great touch and in summary, I was entirely satisfied by my stay.

  • We stayed with Ruth and Gerald for one night and we have to say they are the best hosts! Ruth was very quick to respond when I enquired about the booking and she provided a wealth of information and helpful tips! When we got to the property - we were stunned. Beautiful, scenic, serene surroundings with a lovely barn tucked away in a picturesque village with green grasslands. The property itself was immaculately presented with a lovely bedroom and bathroom. Ruth and Gerald paid particular attention to the finer details with cereals, milk, biscuits, fruit, a collection of CDS, books and all manner of cosmetic products at our disposal including board games (who doesn't love a good game of Scrabble?). We awoke to find a pot of Onken Yoghurt awaiting us, pleasant surprise! This really is a beautiful place with very attentive and personal hosts. We will DEFINITELY be back to stay. Thank you guys! Amarjit & Kiranjit

  • Ruth is a very accommodating host and provided everything we needed. The room is lovely and as described, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend!

    Kathy2016-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a perfect four night stay at this beautiful small barn. Ruth was so welcoming, friendly and easy to get on with which made the stay really relaxing. The barn itself really is beautiful and of an exceptionally high standard. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedding itself so attractive. The gardens are amazing. I've never seen so many allium in bloom. A photo of the light in the barn is needed! Another allium. Everything for breakfast was provided, porridge, granola, yogurt, and of course tea, coffee, fresh milk. My favourite was the chocolate mallows. The barn is very private. It's in beautiful countryside too.

Breathe the fresh forest air & immerse yourself in nature here! With lakes and rivers within metres & endless walking from the doorstep, you'll feel rejuvenated as soon as you arrive. Feeling a bit more energetic? Take the bikes out! When was the last time you had a picnic? The picnic basket is waiting for you! Trip to the coast? Nth Norfolk is 45 mins. Take the train (Brandon Stn 4 miles) & go to Cambridge, take a trip on a punt & explore the colleges! We'll help you have an amazing stay!
Furnished with high quality furniture and high thread count bed linens to ensure you have a luxurious and relaxing stay. Everything in the property is quite new and we always try to ensure you have matching kitchen items.
We live on a long dead end road so its pretty quiet here. However, this is such a pretty area it is a favourite for people to come to to walk so people come and visit the lakes and Arboretum (tree collection) that is next to our property. So you will see people, dog walkers and mountain bikers. An ice cream van often visits the lakes over the road on the weekends! Lynford Hall Hotel is next door (250 metres) if you fancy walking to a meal out, or there is Browns at Mundford (1 mile) that is nice for breakfast or lunch. The Crown at Mundford is also about a mile away and does pub grub and has a beer garden.
  • Melanie went well out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed in our stay. We had a lovely stay and at the cottages. You have a beautiful set of cottages, in a fantastic locations. Thank you very much for our stay.

Melanie very friendly and accommodating. Very child friendly - large lawn with garden and house games available. Cottage very well equipped there was nothing else we needed. Was so wonderful that Melanie had thought of everything -even lovely nibbles awaiting our long journey there., Will be recommending to family and friends. Hope to come back again. Thanks

  • We had a great stay at Melanie's place. The location was great and very quiet. The forest with amazing walks is literally on your doorstep. The communication was great and the checkin process very easy. The firepit in the pavilion is great and was nice to sit round it in the evening. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others.

Our beautiful two bedroom cottage is full of charm and character, with a roll top bath and log burner. Located in a perfect Norfolk village surrounded by woodland walks. Perfect for dogs with a large fully enclosed garden.
This two bedroom cottage is perfect for a family weekend in the country side or plenty of space for two couples to enjoy. Entry through the front of the house off the market square brings you through a small porch into a cozy but spacious living room with a log burner. Through to a separate dining room with an extendable dining room table for six (eight at a push) and a book corner for literature lovers. To the back a kitchen with range cooker and Belfast sink, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge. There is a small breakfast bar in the kitchen under the glass roof to enjoy a morning coffee. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms, one king size and one twin, and a bathroom with roll top bath and inbuilt shower (with brilliant water pressure)! To the back there is a large fully enclosed garden, which is as dog proof as possible! Our two German Shorthaired Pointers (AKA escape artists) lived in the property for two years with no escapes! Guests can enjoy the patio furniture, BBQ and tree swing! Parking at the front of the property and plenty of parking in the market square. We don't have any television wired up at the property, as Norfolk is just too beautiful to spend the day inside watching TV! However, there is a large television set in the living room with a DVD player and a selection of DVD's to enjoy a movie in the evening. There is also a HDMI cable with an Apple adaptor so that most laptops/tablets/phones can be hooked up to the TV to watch streamed films or television (Netflix etc.) We sell logs for the wood burner at £5 per sack. Please let me know before your stay if you would like some and we will make sure it's all ready for you.
East Harling is a perfect Norfolk village! The village itself has two pubs, the George and Dragon enjoys a great reputation for good food, a buzzy atmosphere and even hosts local bands on most Saturday nights. The village is on the edge of Thetford forest, the largest pinewood forest in Britain, covering 19,000 hectares. All around are wonderful walks through forest and heathland. For those who have runaway dogs there is a 98 acre enclosed Heath for dogs to enjoy without the risk of running off into the woods! The village also enjoys a cafe, butchers, village shop, chemist and hairdressers. A children's play park is just over the road from the market square. The village has a great feel and there is always lots going on.
  • Loved this cottage! Very cosy and quirky exactly as it looks on photos. A real sense of history from the cottage and the location on the market square. Enjoyed sunbathing in the large, quiet and private garden and drinks out there in the evening. Made full use of the pubs and handy shop over the road. A very pretty and friendly village. Would definitely stay again, can highly recommend.

Was great to make use of the BBQ and although there was no TV it was great to spend the evenings playing the games provided. Main supermarket only 10 minute drive away for stocking up but small convenience store and butchers just across the road. Emma was fantastic with her communication and was always at hand if we needed her.

  • A wonderful, characterful retreat in a small, friendly village. The cottage was warm and welcoming and the garden was perfect for our husky, who loved the time we spent there, as well as in the surrounding forests and woodland. Emma was easy to communicate with and very welcoming. The little extras were a nice surprise and we felt at home from the moment we walked in. Thank you for allowing us to spend time in your beautiful home. It was all we'd hoped for and we enjoyed every minute.

Furnished living van with wood burning stove, set in a 4 acre Suffolk meadow. Sleeps 4 adults or family of 4 in two double bunks. Fire pit for outdoor cooking and cosy stargazing. Luxury compost loos, wood heated shower, and canvas camp kitchen.
Our small, off grid camping and glamping site only has six tent pitches, two furnished bell tents, a Norfolk shepherd's hut, and our locally made living van. We give each its own space among the tall meadow grass, which means that you are surrounded by local wildlife. We aim to provide a space where you can escape, relax, and enjoy cooking over an open fire and stargazing under our huge Suffolk skies.
The campsite is on our small 80 acre family farm, so you are surrounded by rural fields and green lanes. We are lucky enough to be regularly visited by Roe Deer, Barn Owls, Buzzards, Little Owls, and a variety of birds and insects. Our rolling countryside is fantastic for cycling and we also have access nearby to a variety of Wildlife Trust fens, heaths and lakes. We are within three miles of the Peddars Way Walk. We are not completely cut off from it all though and sit next to a small quiet road that gives access to a farm shop just 1 km away. The farm shop has locally sourced supplies of vegetables and fruit, a deli counter, a bakery and a cafe. We are also within walking distance of two local pubs that serve food and a Spar shop with supplies of packaged food, newspapers, baked goods and daily essentials.
