  • Elliott was helpful in making the cabin available and affordable for us on the busy holiday weekend. He had great communication during the 24 hour plus period it took to organize everyone and book it.The cabin was nice and private, included everything we needed and fit our group of 8 adults without any problems.

  • Elliott was such a great host. He had great communication with us before and during our trip. His cabin is amazing and even better than described. I hope we can return for another trip soon!

  • This place was perfect for what we needed. I surprised my gal with a birthday getaway to this cabin and we had a very peaceful weekend. Plus we were able to bring our pups! Great experience overall, but, I booked on short notice and was willing to pay more to secure a place and the cost is something to think about. For a couples getaway weekend this place is great. Two couples would even be cool. But I wouldn't bring more than 1 kid if you are a family looking for a place. Pros: Dog friendly, secluded yet close to civilization, close to hiking trails, most everything you need kitchen wise is there, a driveway for your car & most importantly its very quiet Cons: After you paid for the place through Airbnb you then were sent to another website where you needed to download and sign a separate rental agreement (not a big deal but adding another step is always annoying), They ask if you would like to pick up the keys in Portland which is an immediate turn off, but then later follow up with asking if you would prefer to just use the lockbox on site. Why have any other option? Who wouldn't chose the lockbox? Lastly, we were asked to do a TOTAL clean up before we leave. I stay at a lot of airbnbs and typically do a good clean, but never do I do the wash the sheets/towels, take the trash home or vacuum etc. We would be charged more if we did not do this and since we were already paying a ton there was no way I was going to pay more, so we cleaned everything. Given that I already paid a cleaning fee through airbnb it just seems odd and for sure a first for me. Kinda made the ending of our relaxing weekend turn into a chore. This and this alone makes me feel like the total value wasn't there. Felt like we were staying at a friends cabin for free rather than paying top dollar for one.

  • We had a great time! The whole cabin is good for at least 8-10 people. And there are full kitchen facilities and BBQ facilities on deck. The best time is spent on the sunny deck enjoying breakfast. Location is great as really close to Trillium Lake, easy to go early in the morning to see Mount Hood reelection on the calm water. Wish to return with bigger group of friends.

  • We had a great time at Elliot's cabin, the surroundings are beautiful. Quiet cabin if you want to rest, close to the lake and the mountain if you want to explore

    Lilia2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great cabin nestled in the Mt. Hood area for us to unwind and explore the area. Elliot's communication was great - he was extremely helpful to explain the hike-in situation, to-dos in the area, and some tips around the house. All in all a memorable experience!

  • I stayed here with a group of friends in late February to celebrate my birthday. This cabin was a real crowd pleaser - everyone had a wonderful time staying here. There is a nice sauna right next to the cabin that is great for extinguishing wintery chills. The cozy cabin had a good kitchen and plenty of dishware so we could make a multitude of meals. The location is great - it is located right next to government camp if you need any last minute supplies. The cabin itself is a in a secluded location with restricted access in winter time. If you're up for an adventure, you can get the isolated woodsy feel with the comfort of a cabin to sleep in.

  • Very beautiful place, looking across a meadow at the summit of Mt. Hood. Wonderful comfort and character. Perfect for a large group that wants to relax together in a peaceful natural environment.

  • Absolutely gorgeous mountain home that is perfect for large groups or multiple families. Walking distance to the main government camp bar and restaurant area and easy access to the east and west ski bowls. Nice hiking or cross country ski trails from essentially the back yard. I can't recommend Pete's place enough - it is one of the best Airbnb houses I've ever stayed in!

  • Everything in this home is so beautifully presented. Looking around we kept noticing very special touches. Pendleton blankets are in abundance. Perhaps my favorite is the deer mounted on the wall covered in Pendleton wool; so creative! The great room of kitchen, dining and living areas merging enabled those doing food prep to still be part of the conversations with everyone else. All of us commented on the comfortable beds, wonderful sheets and towels. While there are plenty of dishes and many pots and pans, if you plan to cook for a houseful you might want to bring along a large frying pan. Other than that, pretty much everything you could want was there. I highly recommend this place.

    Marguerite2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The chalet is very comfortable and cozy. Decorated in tasteful mountain cabin decor. Loved the fireplace and the faux fur throws. We cooked in both nights - kitchen was very well equipped. Easy two minute walk to Government Camp and easy drive to Timberline Lodge. Many trailhead hikes in the area. Cable TV not provided, though Netflix and library of DVD movies are available. Would highly recommend this place for family or friends gathering.

    Susan2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at The Icicle Chalet. We had a group of 9 adults (coworkers) and it fit all of us, with a lot of space to spare. We thoroughly enjoyed having two living rooms and kitchens, and the amenities really created a relaxing atmosphere. Of note is that there's a Chromecast, which means we were able to use the TV for Netflix, YouTube and Pandora throughout the week :) We also appreciated being so close to town and also to hikes - we'd definitely love to come back next year!

  • Pete's home was the perfect mountain retreat for our group of friends and their families. The house was clean and well equipped, the beds were incredibly comfortable and there was plenty of wood for a wonderful fire both nights. It was the perfect location to jet up to Meadows or to walk down into Government Camp for extra groceries. The group was already talking about booking the house again next year! Thank you for a lovely stay and sharing your home with us.

    Kat2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect for our annual family mountain trip! There was plenty of room for our large group and the decor was amazing. Thank you!

    Ashley2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for family time. There are lots of thoughtful extras to make for a cozy & comfortable stay.

    Judith2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • We were a group of 7 and the house accommodated us all very comfortably. The kitchen(s) were well stocked (yes, there are 2) and the location in perfect proximity to Government Camp.

  • My husband and I had our wedding in the region and most of our guests (around 40) stayed in this lodge. We all had a blast together and our guests really enjoyed themselves playing ping pong, pool/billiards, foosball, hanging out in the Jacuzzis and also hiking and even skiing in the area. They were all pleasantly surprised by how big the beds were and how many toilets/showers/washers were available. It was a wonderful time and we're so happy we stumbled upon this lodge. On top of that, communication with John was always great - he answered any questions we had very quickly and kept in contact with us so that even though we planned everything from Germany we felt confident everything would work out. Thanks so much for a wonderful time! We hope to be in Government Camp again :)

  • Boardwalk was perfect for our weekend in Government Camp. The owner is super helpful and has the place all set up for check in. We had a group of 28 and there was so much room to spare. The game room was a major hit for the kiddos and adults. We would stay here again!

  • This location is perfect for any large groups! 2 hot tubs that the owner meticulously takes care of himself! Even people who are normally sensitive to pools enjoyed the hot tubs! The rooms are spacious. We did 3/4 people to a room so people had their own bed and then used the bed for storage. The bathrooms are just as described in floor layout. No more. No less. Full kitchen were a plus! And laundry in every unit was used every day. Overall a wonderful experience!

Our cabin has been handmade from top to bottom, including the furniture by local artist and host Bill Toney. Our large private room comfortably fits up to 5 and is two blocks from restaurants and shops in Government Camp and is 15 minutes or less from Mt. Hood ski areas. Please note that your host lives on site - you'll have the top floor all to yourself, along with access to the other shared spaces on the first floor.
Beautifully appointed and hosted by local resident and mountain expert Bill Toney, and facing U.S. Forest Service land, the Lige Lane House gives you front door access to hiking, snowshoe and cross country ski trails. The second floor guest room has three twin beds and one full bed with plenty of room for up to 5 people. The window has a view of the forest. We provide sparkling clean linens and towels for you, along with down duvets for all the beds. The siding and many of the interior support beams were made from a 100 year old barn, which gives the outside of the cabin its rustic look. Inside, you'll find beautiful wood details everywhere, from walls, to floors to ceilings. The house has a well appointed kitchen on the main floor, with an open living and dining area. In addition to your private room on the second floor, you'll have access to the upstairs living area, which includes a large living room, with an extensive DVD library and plenty of books on mountaineering and the Pacific Northwest. The guest bathroom is just down the stairs from your room and has a strong, hot shower with tiles handmade by local artisans. Front door access to cross country ski trails. We are 5 minutes from Ski Bowl, 15 minutes from Timberline, which offers some of the best year round skiing in the world, and 20 minutes from Mt. Hood Meadows Ski resort, which offers high speed lifts, terrain parks and slopes from beginner to double black diamond. Or, you can take a ride down our sledding hill, which is immediately in front of the house and warm up by our fire when you are done. I'll be present in the house, in my bedroom with en suite on the first floor, along with my son, but you'll have your own private areas if you prefer to be in your own space. I'm happy to share info about the area and the best spots to go, and I can include a hot breakfast for you in the morning. I really enjoy talking about hiking, climbing and skiing with visitors, and I enjoy hearing stories you might have as well. Government Camp is one hour from Portland and minutes from all the ski resorts. We have great restaurant options - Glacier Haus is 2 blocks away, along with ski shops that will sell and rent gear to you - everything from snowshoes to cross country skis to downhill equipment is available. There is an onsite wine and liquor store. In winter, you can go on a horse drawn sleigh ride through the village. There isn't public transit available to areas beyond Government Camp, however, you can catch The Breeze from Portland or Bend to get here and the cabin is close to the main loop. The house contains many beautiful details, from hand wrought iron work in the shape of local flora and fauna, to furniture upholstered by local weavers, this beautiful wood cabin glows with warmth and all the special things that make this a beautiful, cozy place to stay during your visit to beautiful Mt. • Bill's cabin was fantastic -- cozy, quiet, full of charm and only a short walk to restaurants. We stayed for a perfect snowy evening (we would have stayed longer but he was booked). Bill was a great host, fun to visit with and his breakfast biscuits are no joke. To top it all off, our son left his blankie and Bill sent it back to us right away.

  • Bill was an amazing host and his listing was awesome! I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Mt. Hood for a vacation. Bill cooked us breakfast in the morning and made us feel right at home. I hope to stay with him again on one of my next trips up to Mt. Hood.

    Nick2015-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Bill and family helped with communicating and kept us informed. The drive in was exciting on icy steep roads and the walk in thru several feet of snow magical. We were well fed in the morning and enjoyed ourselves and Bills stories.

  • My family and I had a great time staying with Bill. Breakfast was amazing, dinner was amazing, and the activities were amazing. I have never stayed in a more comfortable B&B. We enjoyed the nightly conversation and stories we shared with Bill. The kids loved playing with Henry and Brodey(the visiting Australian shepherd). Next time we are in the Mt. Hood area we will be staying here. Thank you Bill for making are stay in the mountains wonderful.

If you know the way you can ski or mountain bike from Timberline to the front door. You are welcome to bring your family dog, however each one counts as an additional guest.
Your staying in a great quiet neighborhood on a hill. Easy sledding/skiing or walking distance to down town.
  • Don's "A Frame" in Government Camp is absolutely perfect for the casual crowd that wants to do nothing more than ski during the day, and relax at night. The house is very accurately described and truly is a perfect fit for those taking on the resorts of Mt. Hood. Shuttles to Meadows and Timberline are a walk away, and Ski Bowl is walkable. The large wood fireplace is invaluable for drying out your equipment overnight, and towels were aplenty for showering and hot tub purposes. The kitchen is well stocked and most utensils/cookware you should need are present. All in all I would highly recommend the "A Frame" to anyone that wants to ski and go back to comfort, without getting too fancy.

  • Hi y'all. Yes, I visited from the deep South to check out the great NW, and Quinn's place served as excellent base camp for not only visiting Mt Hood/Timberline, but also Bend and the gorge. There are miles and miles of hiking trails and one can even hike up to Timberline directly from cabin. Quinn was just a great host from the start. I did a late booking request, and he responded very quickly. After that, came the timely check in procedures along with checking in to see if all was well. Super accommodating host combined with the cleanliness and coolness of the cabin makes me want to come back during ski season. Thanks Quinn for the a great visit out west!

  • Had a fantastic weekend at the cabin. Perfect location! It's small but well designed and was perfect for our family of four. Beds were very comfortable. Quinn was very responsive when I had a question. Great host! We will definitely be back.

Alpenhutte is located just steps away from downtown Government Camp, where you can find restaurants and family-friendly activities. You’ll love our place because of the light, the comfy beds, and the coziness. My place is good for couples, groups of friends, families (with kids), and well-behaved furry friends (pets).
Alpenhutte was built in 1940 and remodeled in 2005. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, though the common rooms are cozy! The kitchen is nice and is fully stocked with all of the pots, pans, and dishes that you require, but it is not large. I call it a one-cook kitchen, which I find perfect when vacationing. Please note that the stairs between floors are narrow and steep. Some people may not find this suitable for toddlers, or for people that have trouble navigating stairs. We have a large screen TV on the main floor. We do not have cable TV, but do offer netflix streaming, blue-ray, and a DVD player. We also have a Chromecast if you prefer to access your own accounts. The television in the bonus room downstairs has a VHS player, and many VHS tapes that are in the PG-G range. There is a fireplace that you are welcome to use. Please plan to bring your own wood if you would like to do so. Our house is located on a popular sledding hill in Government Camp. We have a few sleds you are welcome to use during your stay. From our house you can walk to downtown Government Camp in any season. We are just one block from the shops and restaurants. You can also walk or drive to Ski Bowl and Summit Ski area. Timberline Lodge and Mt Hood Meadows are a short drive away. If there is enough snow, you can ski down to our house from Timberline Lodge, using the Alpine ski trail. In summer, you can also hike this trail up to the Lodge. Cross Country skiing and Snow Shoeing trails can be accessed on foot, as well as many hiking and biking trails.
We are steps away from skiing, hiking, and biking. There are several restaurants in Government Camp to choose from, a general store that has just about everything you need, and more than one place to rent ski equipment.
  • The house was beautiful and held our party nicely. Very conveniently located - close to town and activities. Definitely felt Like home. If you have kids, beware of 2 flights of very steep stairs. No personal devises could connect to the internet. (No connection) bring your own paper towels and toilet paper- just in case so you don't have to run to the store multiple times.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Cynthia's. The cabin had all the applinces and bedding as well as facilities to laundry etc. Cynthia was very friendly and accommodating since we had a last minute request for our new dog. Thanks so much for this fabulous setting for our family to be reunited. If you require more information, please feel free to contact me. Pat Burtner Freeman

  • This was the loveliest spot! Great for a family with kids under 5, and adults who wanted to be near the brewery, great hiking, and excellent kayaking. Really lovely resting place, and great for cooking big meals to be enjoyed outside. We really enjoyed this peaceful retreat!

    Lisa2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay! The one thing I'd really emphasize when there is a lot of snow is that I really appreciated the heads up, and Cynthia is NOT kidding when she wrote to me "East Little Trail is fairly steep and can be tricky to get up and down when there is fresh snow and/or ice. Most AWD or 4WD cars don't have a problem, but if you have a 2 wheel drive I recommend bringing chains and always using caution." I borrowed a friend's Subaru Outback and we were fine up until East Little Trail, where even w AWD we slid back down 1/2 the hill due to a ton of snow/slush. We used chains to leave (at least 8" fresh snow) and all was fine. Just don't be cavalier, come prepared, as she suggests!

    Renee2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This house is great. Close to everything you need, plenty of space for everyone. We had 7 people and could have comfortably fit another 2-3. Plenty of space to store your adventure gear downstairs so that it is out of the way. Highly recommend a stay here!

    Brian2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The place is great! Near everything from trails to store to skiing. Lots of room and privacy for those that want to quietly read a book or rest. Our family really had a great time and can't wait to do it again! Maybe even an annual tradition!

  • Cozy home with a homey kitchen, dining room, and living space with big picture windows into the forest. Master bedroom and bath very spacious and nice views into the forest. Great deck.  Very close to town and services, but feels like you are far away from town.  Excellent heater. Ample parking. Good wifi. Easy check-in. Lots of beds, linens, blankets. Jaime and Kris were very quick to help resolve a laundry situation.   Excellent welcome message with VERY useful directions and other details about the house.   Cons... Washer and dryer are in the basement, down some narrow and awkward steps.   Kitchen is not well lit, making it challenging to cook, but restaurants are only a 5 minute walk.  Linens and towels had lint/dust particles on them, but they smelled clean and fresh.   I would stay here again.  Cozy, spacious, and location location location.

    Bob and Kathy2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jaime provided some great tips about local restaurants and things to do that were very helpful. It was a great place for our family of five - with three young adult/teen kids - we could gather in the common space, but also have some privacy in the multiple bedrooms. Central location to access shopping, restaurants, and hiking/recreation activities.

    Susan2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • I think there might be even more beds than were listed in this house. It was fun to explore. Everything worked well and we were able to cook and hang out in the kitchen. The laundry is nice and there's a good patio with extra seating. It was very convenient to have two bathrooms since we had five people. The wifi listed on the instructions was wrong but once we asked we got the right wifi and it worked very well. Very close to a lot of trails and in walking distance of the town. I don't have any complaints :)

Welcome to Edelweiss Number 9, in historic Government Camp Oregon! This cozy, centrally located condominium, which once housed the 1975 US. Ski Team, lies in the heart of the Government Camp loop. It is an idyllic jump off spot to all of the recreation the beautiful Oregon Cascades have to offer.
Built like tanks, The Edelweiss Condominiums were established in the early seventies, and have stood sturdily throughout the decades, in the heart of Govy, below the looming summit of Mt. Hood. A short walking distance to both Mt. Hood Ski Bowl, and the Summit Ski Area, with the local shops and restaurants even closer, being quite literally around the corner. Should you need to take a break from all the recreational opportunities and attractions, that the local resorts and wildernesses have to offer, the condo is all set up to spend a night in. There is a fireplace, with firewood locker down below, plenty of games to play, as well as a 42” TV, complete with rather large assortment of movies. Wi-fi provided, as well as Netflix and Amazon Watch. The kitchen is accommodated with virtually all common needs, for most any type of cooking. However, there is not a Dish washer at this time. There is plenty of parking in the private parking lot located just out front. Provided Towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner, hair dryer, toilet paper. Dish soap, dish towels, paper towels, and limited cleaning supplies. Laundry detergent, and fabric softener, ironing board, and iron, as well as vacuum.
Local Info The Govy General Store, carries most major food items and snacks, and has a liquor store as well. There are souvenirs galore, but don’t wait too long to get the shopping done, as the store closes at 8pm. Valian’s is a local ski shop, complete with apparel, and rentals. There are a variety of food options, including the historic Huckleberry Inn, open 24 hours a day. Charlie’s Mountain View, is a very popular bar and restaurant, of which the late proprietor, Charlie Sperr, who’s namesake it bears, was a lifelong Government Camp Resident, as well as friend, and next-door neighbor in number 10. The Ratskellar, is another restaurant, bar, and pizzeria, which features an arcade on the second floor of the lodge. There is a cafe attached as well. The Taco Shoppe, is a great place if you are feeling like Mexican, and the Glacier Haus across the street, is Govy’s best fine dining option. At the very bottom of the loop, right off the Highway, is the Mt. Hood Brewery, which has an exceptional collection of local brews, as well as great pub menu. Timberline lodge, which is a short drive up the mountain, has world class food, history, and fun. Mt Hood Ski Bowl, located just over the bridge, is home to a sprawling summer action adventure park during the summer months. Including, an Alpine Slide, Zip lining, bungee jumping, a Malibu racing go cart track, mountain biking, mini golf, rock climbing, disc golf and MORE!! One cannot begin to expand on all of the hiking and outdoor activities waiting just outside of town, but a quick drive down to Trillium lake, is more than worth the view! -Cheers!
  • Charlie's place is in a great location close to shops in government camp and to timberline lodge. Very good space for large groups as there are alot of places to sleep. Charlie is a great host, he gave me hiking and swimming suggestions and always responded when I had a question. Would recommend this spot to anyone.

  • This place has tremendous value. It was very cozy and plenty of beds etc.. Charlie is awesome! He went out of his way to help us out.

    Jamie2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • David's place is very spacious, comfortable and clean, and what we also liked is that it is clearly in use so it doesn't appear "cold" like holiday apartments often do (eg great set of kitchen equipment). It's location is super-central right between the highway and the main street of Government Camp in a small forrest (so don't expect it to be very quiet). All pubs and shops are easily accessible in walking distance. Communicating with David was fantastic, he gave us many great tips and hints what to do in the neigborhood. Thanks for the great stay!

    Alexander2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie was incredibly responsive with any questions we had. His place was very spacious with room to spare for our family. Check-in was incredibly easy. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Charlie’s condo was wonderful! It was exactly what he described. It was clean and the fresh flowers were a wonderful touch. He was quick with answering any questions and it was great he allowed our dog to come. We hope to go back over the winter to ski!!

  • Family friendly, pet friendly, in the heart of govy. SO many beds, towels, blankets, extra sheets, dishes, and other toiletries. Very comfortable and very clean. We were so close to just about anything we wanted to do! Timberline, ski bowl, meadows, Trillium Lake. Our Saint Bernard had plenty of space to spread out and rest, I didn't feel nervous about him ruining anything. The fireplace was a great amenity. A 10!

    Rustic 1980's Cabin
    1 review
Hank's Ranch is a 4 bed, 2 bath property near Still Creek Campground in Summit Meadow. Steps from the snowshoe/x-country Trillium Lake loop and other winter trails. Vehicle access in **spring/summer** only, please see additional details about the property listing below.
10/16/2017 update: first big snowfall of the year, melting off quick with above-freezing temps in the forecast, but still covering the ground in many spots. Roads clear. Keep a close eye on the weather, this is expected to be a heavy snow season. Once the snow accumulates the forest service road is closed. Winter: hike-in cabin is 1.5 miles from the Trillium Lake Sno-Park (permit required ) and takes 30 to 60-minutes to reach depending on your pace and how much gear you are carrying. Many use snowshoes or x-country skis (though good hiking shoes should work, too.) Trails are groomed and well-marked, though the last few feet from the trail to the cabin door may be through deeper snow. During winter snowfall the only way to get around is hiking, snowshoeing, or x-country skiing. All items (food, beverages, extra firewood) would need to be hauled in; guests are highly encouraged to pack out all of their trash/recycling as there is no garbage service in this area. Contact us for specific details.
There are about a dozen houses in the area (a few square miles) but only a few located within sight of this property. In the winter it is especially remote, as there is no vehicle access.
  • Great find! We had a wonderful stay at Hank's Ranch. The house is beautiful with a very spacious, open concept main floor with a big stone fireplace and lots of firewood (so cozy!). The kitchen is fully equipped with flatware, silverware, pots, pans, and appliances. There are two bedrooms (with full beds) and one bathroom on the main floor, and two more bedrooms (1 full bed, 2 bunk beds) and another bathroom upstairs. It was secluded, but easy to find from Trillium Lake SnoPark. Great for a friends getaway. We will be back!

    Justin2015-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was an amazing weekend. Beautiful secluded setting! One mile or so walk to one of the most beautiful fishing lakes in Oregon. The house is open with a lodge type feel. Casually decorated. Lots of room. Loved the big table with room for everyone to sit at. Loads of pots and pans plus several sets of dishes. We will definitely want to go back.

    Carol2015-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Hanks place was better than expected. Very clean, comfortable, and nice.

  • A wonderful cabin that I would encourage anyone looking to spend some time in the Mt Hood area to consider staying in!

    Cody2015-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is beautiful and had everything we needed. Kes has great communication and keep us updated with the weather conditions and what type of clothing to bring. We loved snowshoeing into the winter wonderland and enjoyed the awesome fireplace. The trail to the cabin were well maintained and easy to snowshoe into the cabin. The kitchen is well stocked and the bedrooms are very comfortable. We stayed warm considering how cold it was outside. The area around the cabin is beautiful and direction were detailed on how to get to the cabin. It exceeded our expectations!

    Dena2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Hank's Ranch is amazing! Honestly even better than it looks in pictures and I highly recommend coming in the summer. The place comfortably fit 10 people, stayed cool in the hot temps and was so cozy/inviting. It's fairly secluded and has a wonderful outside deck to hang out on during the day. Few of us ran to Trillium lake in the morning and we drove to Tamanwas Falls (highly recommend). All we had to bring was food - the house is stocked with dishes, had some shower supplies, lots of bedding, movies, etc. Definitely coming back!

    Madeline2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Government Camp for an extended weekend at Hank's Ranch. For our group of 5, there was ample space. We would have been comfortable with even the maximum of 10 people there. The house is comfortable and had everything that we needed to relax, cook, and sleep. There's a great DVD collection too.

Great lighting. Lots of cool antiques on the walls. Clean well stocked kitchen with dishes, utensils and cooking pans. Huge dinner table so everybody can sit together. Big hot tub in back. Nice big entryway with lots of hooks and space for ski equipment. 3 minute short walk down hill to little town (Government Camp) with general store and 2-3 bar/restaurants. Parking at the cabin is limited to two spaces, however.

  • We chose this spot because of its proximity to Trillium Lake and it did not disappoint. Just a quick 12 minute drive from front door to parking lot, we went every day! The house is very spacious, clean, open floor plan with lots of light. We had everything we needed for a fun, family gathering. The hot tub was really nice at night. The stove does need to be fixed/updated, as several burners were choosing their own settings and it made cooking frustrating.

The Barlow Cabin has been updated with new furnishings and modern appliances but retains its rustic charm, with Pendleton blankets, down comforters, and a wood-burning fireplace. There’s a smart TV with Hulu and WiFi to stream . You can hook up your iPod/iPhone to the stereo to play your choice of music. The Crosstown Trail, with its links to the Westleg Road and Glade and Alpine ski trails, is a short walk/ski away.
The living room, kitchen, small bathroom with shower, and kids’ bedroom (bunk beds) are downstairs; upstairs are three small bedrooms and a half-bath. One upstairs bedroom has twin beds, one has a queen bed, and the third bedroom has one queen bed and one twin. Capacity is limited to parties of eight or fewer. The Barlow Cabin is not wheelchair accessible. Pets allowed (60 lb limit)

  • First let me say I have stayed in many Airbnb's and have had wonderful experiences and always left great reviews - until now. The location was wonderful, close to the town, and check-in was easy. The host responded to questions in a timely manner. The description of the property is misleading. It is on the rustic side with exposed wall studs, rough (and abrasive) treads on the steps, shelving that is simply a cut of plywood or a 2x4...you get the idea. The photos are also misleading. The bathroom is small with a tiny sink and a very small shower stall and it is right off the kitchen. It is also not ventilated (unless you consider the gap around the stove pipe into the living area ventilation), and it has carpeting which makes it feel not clean to me, but the shower sink and toilet were clean. Upstairs the mattresses are on the floor (which is shown in the photos) with very steep ceiling and the rooms are very small. Oh, and we had mice. Hopefully the owner will take care of that - the upstairs sleepers got to listen to scurrying in the ceiling! The downstairs bedroom is also very small with the full-sized bed pushed against a wall making it hard to access for two people. Although the kitchen is described as "Any chef will appreciate the full kitchen around the corner with bright cabinets, natural lighting," it was not that at all. There was hardly room to move around and the appliances were old and worn. If you aren't picky about the things I've mentioned, this would be an appropriate place for you. For a total price of $915.00 for three nights, it was definitely not worth the money for my family.
