Just booked in Tinmouth

Fashioned after AMC huts of the NH White mountains, this off-grid cabin is 20x16 with deck, awesome views, and easy access to Long Trail ( 7 miles from Killington). Ideal spot for those looking for an outdoor adventure and needing a place to stay. Includes wood stove and solar electric system that powers several outlets (perfect for charging laptops & phones), LCD lights & a small refrigerator. Includes a comfortable futon bed & 2 cots in loft.
Modeled after our experiences hiking the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Nordregaard (the name of our cabin) was fashioned after the AMC huts (Lonesome Lake, Carter Notch, etc.). We seek to maintain the strong connection with the outdoors (that’s why you’re here… right?) but with a little dash of Danish hygger (Danish word for cozy) by providing for some basics such as an outhouse, basic water systems, outdoor shower, drinking water and protection from the elements. Think of Nordregaard as your own private, self-service, ‘hut’ during your stay. Off the beaten path, off grid cabin. 20 x 16 with deck, awesome views, 7 miles from Killington and easy access to Long Trail. Ideal spot for those looking for an outdoor adventure and needing a place to stay. Private 30 acre front/back yard. There are currently no beds, just three cots and a loft that we typically sleep in.
Walking distance to the trail head of the Long Trail / AT. Great hiking as well as winter backcountry skiing mecca. tremendous uncharted mountain biking everywhere along with two great biking centers, Green Mountain Trails (Pittsfield VT) and Killington . Within 20 minutes drive to both Pico & Killington Ski area's. Rutland is also 20 minutes in the other direction for any supplies you might need.
  • Cabin was just as described- perfect stay for an outdoor adventure weekend. If you go in the winter, knowing how to run the wood burning stove and bringing the right food will make or break your stay. My husband, dog and I had a wonderful time!

  • What a great time we had! Our stay at the cabin was everything we expected it to be and more. Jerry provides a comprehensive guide on how to best use and care for the cabin and all it has to offer, as well as some great near-by places to visit and eat (get breakfast at Maple Sugar and Vermont Spice!). The cabin is very private and secluded, but also has a very impressive view of the mountains in the distance. Overall, we were super impressed by how well equipped the cabin was with all of the things you need for a simple off-grid escape. We cooked all of our meals over the fire pit (no shortage of firewood both supplied by Jerry and easily foraged) and enjoyed warm showers under the outdoor shower. Wildlife abounds -- definitely a great spot for birding!

  • Jerry's cabin is an excellent place to retreat to for a weekend of off grid living. The cabin is exactly how it is portrayed in the pictures. He did a great job of providing info on his place and making us feel welcomed. The best part of my experience was the outdoor shower! On a beautiful sunny morning, nothing beats a warm outdoor shower! We will definitely come back again soo .

  • Quintessential rustic cabin experience. My brother and I loved staying here and had fun once we warmed up! We advise anyone to make sure that they bring in plenty of firewood from the stack to make it through the night so if you wake up at any moment you don't have to face the elements to grab logs.

  • This hidden gem was more than I could have imagined. I rented it as a home base for my sons and I to mountain bike around the area. The best part of the day was returning to the cabin to relax on the deck and enjoy the scenery. The cabin has everything you need for a quick getaway or an extended stay.

    Ken2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful secluded cabin. Clean and uncluttered. Every item inside the cabin was thoughtfully chosen and every space well utilized. Jerry is also a great host. Thanks Jerry for sharing this amazing place with others.

    Elben2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin easily earned a five star rating - it is described as being like the AMC cabins in New Hampshire, but a bit more private. This is exactly right. The cabin offers privacy, beautiful views of Killington mountain, rustic accommodations, space for four humans and a well behaved dog and a great camp feeling. We brought in our own food and water in winter but found ample wood, paper goods and other supplies in the cabin. For us, the best amenity is a trailhead to Killington mountain only a quarter mile from the driveway. It is 25 min drive to the Killington ski area and 10 minute to some excellent local restaurants. Will go back

  • Jerry was very responsive leading up to our stay, and answered all my questions quickly. We loved the easy access to the Bucklin Trail and the insider information about the waterfall, which was really beautiful. And it was great that we could bring our dogs. There was plenty of firewood - we cooked at and sat around the fire pit for a few hours at night and then used the woodstove the next morning. The cabin was just as described - we really enjoyed staying there!

  • This guest house was the perfect place to spend a weekend in Vermont. It looked exactly like the photos in the posting - cows and sheep included! There were some groceries there for me to use which was great because I was traveling around and it was nice to be able to make some breakfast without having to leave. It was cozy and lovely and I will definitely stay there again if I am ever in the area.

    Lisa2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at Jane and Fred's place. The house was like a five star hotel with a kitchen and Jane had arranged some breakfast, which was great. Our kids loved being able to see sheep, cows and a horse right behind the house.

Having three full bathrooms came in especially clutch! The pictures do not do it justice! We went skiing at Pico Mountain which was a short 30 minute or so drive from the house. • I enjoyed your charming cottage in downtown Wallingsford. Jeff responded quickly to my reservation request, and gave me helpful instructions for unlocking, parking etc. He even answered a fairly late call when I had one more question after 10pm! The cottage is super clean, and has a cozy vermont interior. It was very comfortable well maintained. Also, a great, easy to find location in Wallingsford. I'd love to stay again sometime and would highly recommend this cozy cottage. Thank you Jeff!

    Donna2016-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Overall Jeff's apartment worked for us. It is simple but functional and equipped with the basic amenities. The building is easy to find and it's easy to come and go along Hwy 7, either north or south, with private off-street parking. We stayed 4 nights using the apartment as our base as we explored Vermont and it worked well as central location. Jeff responded quickly to all communication.

    Patti2016-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • I would definitely recommend this place! Jeff was a great host, he was very responsive to all of my emails and also suggested me some really good restaurants in the area as well as things to do in vermont. The apartment is located in very nice town, easy to reach and there are two amazing restaurants right next to it, we didn't even have to drive to have dinner, we could just walk from there!! The apartment was super clean, cozy and perfect to spend the weekend. We went skiing in killington and was a very quick and nice drive.I would definitely suggest this place and would love to come back again!!

  • The house was beautiful and beds super comfortable. Breakfast delicious and house clean and perfect for our family get together. We were all very familiar with Wallingford and the surrounding towns. It's a beautiful area.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at this B&B. It is a beautiful Victorian house in this quaint Vermont town. Really nice sitting room with a variety of games and books. Our room was perfect. Very spacious and super comfy bed. The breakfast the next morning was fantastic. The owners of the B&B, Gloria and Steve, were extremely friendly, made us feel really comfortable, and gave us all sorts of information about the house. All in all, a great B&B that we highly recommend!

  • Gloria and Stephen (and their handsome pup, Dylan) are the consummate hosts at this historic gem nestled amongst the best ski mountains on the east coast. From cozy rooms with antique furniture, to homemade breakfast daily, the IB Munson House is the pinnacle of accommodations. My fiance and I look forward to our next visit.

    Jordan2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Gloria and Steve were awesome hosts and made our stay very enjoyable and memorable. The home is an architectural gem and the location was perfect for us. Breakfast scones, jam and fruit were outstanding followed by delicious French Toast. We truly loved our stay and want to say thank you for all you did to give us a special weekend.

    James2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem. If you're looking for a pleasant stay, here you go. Classy, clean, friendly, excellent breakfast. This is how it's supposed to be done. Two thumbs up

    Isaiah2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • We picked the Munson house for our Velentine's weekend as well as for its proximity to Okemo. We had an absolutely lovely time in this cosy and classy home. Denise - who is a former Chef specializing in Pastries - prepared delicious breakfasts (pancakes, french toasts, blueberry buckle cake...) and greeted us a warm welcome. We also had the chance to meet Gloria, her family and her furry dog, who were very friendly and happy to share their home. They also had great recommendations in terms of places to visit or eat. We'll definitely try and come back during the summer or the fall!

This is our family home built in 1973, with much of the house in it's original state. Cozy, comfortable, and clean, but well very well loved and "lived in"...
We are 4 miles from Wallingford, a quaint little village, home to The Victorian Inn's amazing restaurant and Pub. Great VT artisan gift shops.
  • The house and property are absolutely lovely - even more impressive than the pictures and description. Amy made sure we had everything we needed, and even left us homemade pumpkin maple muffins and strawberry jam that were delicious (and much more!). Such a wonderful experience.

    Rachel2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy is an understatement. Rustic, this place is not. Yes, its a bit old fashioned but we had everything we needed and so much more. Its very country in its log cabin style and works well for multiple families or groups. The place had an amazing view, was well equipped, very comfortable (beds, seating, layout, fireplace!, etc.). The kids had a blast with all the toys hidden hear and there and could "run" around in a safe environment. The adults had fun playing pool and listening to the music collection. We walked around the property which is huge and never tired of the activities on site. The kitchen is inspiring for cooks as it is SOOO well equipped for everything and anything you may fancy (we did a cheese fondue one night and a turkey the next!). All the spices and many ingredients are already onsite and ready to use. Amy and Ken were super friendly and welcoming. They live up the road and would come and help if ever we needed them. I almost had tears in my eyes when it was time to go as this oasis of peace and tranquility was so good for us on this long weekend. We will definitely be back for winter activities or xmas.

    Camille2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is as described, rustic, secluded, ideal for stay in the green mountains. Amy was great in communicating all the details around the cabin, nearby hikes and attractions. We appreciated the flexible check out and the breakfast. Views were very good from the cabin. Old fashioned but had all the amenities; pool table, fireplace and wifi made a big difference. We definitely recommend this cabin to everyone, and we will definitely stay again if in the area.

  • This was my first AirBNB stay and I really enjoyed it. Even though I was taking a class in Rutland during the days, I wanted to be somewhere I could sleep where it was quiet and I could keep the windows open. This was the perfect place. Its about 20 min from Rutland but its a beautiful drive. And even on a couple hot days, the night cooled off so I did not have to run the air conditioner. It was just myself, but two people would be very comfortable. There was a nice bed, a comfortable sofa and a table and chairs. There is no kitchenette- just a frig and microwave, so plan on going out to eat. There is also a nice table and chairs in a large yard. My AT&T cell phone worked, but not my Tracfone. The wifi is excellent. There is not much in the very small town but Poultney with its good restaurants is not far, and also close by is Lake St Catherine with a nice beach. I would definitely stay there again.

  • Terry and Lori are wonderful hosts! They were extremely was and accommodating with to all our needs. We arrived late on Thursday night and they both greeted us with a warm and welcoming smile and tour of the cabin and they also allowed us to have a late departure on Sunday so we can enjoy a little bit more of Vermont before our return home. Everything was just as pictured and so much better! The cabin is wonderfully designed and they thought of everything for a moderately small space. There was not one thing that we could think of wanting in the rental that they did not provide. It was important that I have internet connection to work and Terry made sure I was able to connect the very night we arrived and later inquired to make sure I was able to get my work done. They were warm and hospitable and we truly enjoyed every moment of our visit to Vermont and our stay in their log cabin. We are so happy with our trip that we planning a summer trip for later this year. I will definitely recommend this listing to all my friends planning a trip to Vermont. Thanks again for the Vermont cheddar! Kele, Danny and Dante

  • Spent the weekend Skiing Stratton Mountain with my brother and teenage niece. Had a great time staying at the cabin. Terry was wonderful with lots of communication and was there to greet us and show us everything, including sharing insider knowledge about the local restaurants and such. Would certainly stay here again.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed in the log cabin with our puppy for three nights in August. We came from Brooklyn, NY and it only took 4 hours. The cabin was the perfect size for our little family. It was incredibly clean and cozy. The hosts, Terry and Lori, are just all around wonderful people who really made us feel at home. Terry made us a fire in the beautiful outside seating area. They gave us a list and a map of fun things to do in the area. Definitely check out the swimming holes! The cabin is just a 15 minute drive to Manchester, which has great restaurants and some good outlets. The hiking was amazing and Emerald Lake is just a five minute drive from the cabin. We loved our stay and are already planning a trip back. If you have the chance to stay at Terry and Lori's, definitely do so!

  • Terri and Lori are a very hospitable pair. I stayed in their cabin over a weekend and have to say the pictures don't do the place justice. It's much more comfortable than the listing would suggest; Clean and comfortable, I'd recommend it. A previous review made note of the proximity to the road and potential for traffic noise. I had no problem and think you would have to be a very light sleeper if that were the case. . If you're planning your trip dial-in the Mt Tabor Country Store to the GPS as the airbnb map will send you astray. Perfect for 3 people but it could accommodate 5 at a squeeze.

    Simon2014-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here on a last-minute ski getaway weekend! Terry and Lori were excellent hosts. The cabin was clean, cozy, and comfortable! We enjoyed our stay here and hope to return sometime. Highly recommend! Thank you!

  • Serene ambiance, tastefully built and kept cabin, thoughtful amenities inside and outside such as a fire pit in the back for a relaxing, warm, cozy evening. Hosts are super nice, and welcoming. Very considerate of guests' privacy. I would strongly recommend my closest friends to stay here.

  • Great place! Close to great hikes and hosts were very friendly and helpful

    Jessalyn2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Second time using airbnb and Terry and Lori knocked it outta the park for us. They were very attentive and helpful during our stay. Terry even started a Bon fire for us. Very personable, friendly people. The place itself is so adorable. A perfect size cozy cabin with a sweet loft that you climb a ladder to get to. They have a binder full of answers to any questions you might have (recommendations for places to eat, etc) We highly recommend this place to others. We definitely will be back! =)

  • From the moment we arrived my husband Joe, daughter Lily and I felt most welcomed by Gary and Erika. Our rooms were clean and very comfortable, in fact the best sleep I had in a long time. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner prepared by Gary, as well as a yummy and generous breakfast on Sunday morning. The home is located on a very beautiful country road and I'm so glad we took the opportunity to go for a long walk. Great hosts and serene atmosphere - just what we were looking for.

    Helen2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Green Hill Artist Retreat was very nice. Gary was a gracious host and cooked us a delicious breakfast. The location is remote, but beautiful (even in the rain) and the room was comfortable.

    Judy2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Gary and Erika were wonderful hosts, accommodating all of our little needs and inquiries. The property is absolultely gorgeous, set in the peaceful and quiet part of Pawlet. I'd like to say a separate word of thanks to the hosts for the delicious breakfasts. We truly enjoyed their company and home!

    Katya2015-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I loved our time staying with Gary and Erika at their Artist Retreat. The room was nice, the views were incredible, and breakfast was wonderful too (Gary made a delicious frittata the first morning and Erika made pancakes on day two). They were lovely and helpful with everything we needed and gave us good directions to a nearby mountain hike and recommended an amazing lunch spot, Sissy's, nearby. Next time we'll have to bring our printmaking supplies and use their press!

    Matt2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Gary and Erika have put in a lot of thought in decorating their house. With their warmth, they turn it into a welcoming home. We had a great time staying at their place - the rooms and common area were warm and comfortable. Gary kindly accommodated our request for a vegetarian dinner. I won't reveal his secret but will just say that you will not regret taking up their offer of dinner. The neighborhood looks and feels like one of the idyllic pastoral landscapes one sees on picture postcards. No hesitation in recommending this place and would love to visit again.

    Abhishek2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time here! Perfect Vermont mountain getaway. It was very relaxing and Gary and Erica were accommodating and friendly. And the food was great! Thanks guys.

    Phillip2015-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Gary and Erika's place, sadly it was only for one night... The house is located on a quiet mountain outside pawlet, a perfect getaway if you're from a crowded city like we are. Gary and Erika were great hosts, we felt welcome from the first moment we got there. The room was nice and clean, the bed was very good (beyond expectations) and we had the shared bathroom for ourselves as there were no other guests. Breakfast was outstanding, with fresh fruit, home made granola and one of the best omelets we had in whole New England. We would certainly come back if we visit Vermont again, and definitely recommend this place to everyone!

Long valley and village views! Secluded, yet In-town charming home with wrap around porch on 12 acres has spring fed pond, meadows, stone walls, trail, old maples. This private, quiet, bright and beautifully furnished designer home is one-of-a-kind...but don't take our word for it...check out our reviews!
The home was designed and built green by the owners in 2005, starting with a 160-year-old barn which was moved 1000 ft to the back corner of the 12-acre property. Emphasis was placed on reusing all parts of the barn in the home, which creates an outstanding old world charm atmosphere which has visitors frequently commenting, "Wow!...this place needs to be featured in a magazine!" Master bed (king)/bath is on the main level and the upstairs bedroom (queen) and a sitting room have 1.5 baths (1/2 bath in the bedroom and full bath with claw foot tub off twin bedroom) allowing ample room to relax in private for two couples. Cable, Apple TV in living, (DVD's player in master and an extensive VHS collection and player for upstairs guests). A private hot/cold shower on the deck is available for all guests. Firepit adds the warmth for star gazing and moon rise nights! There are board games, frisbee, ladder ball, corn-hole, bocce, badminton, and volleyball provided. The property also has the 'Spring Cottage' and 'Bags Inn' (hobbit cottage) that hosts guests/owners.
Middletown Springs is a quaint village of 800 about 30 minutes to Manchester on one of the loveliest routes through Vermont. Middlebury is 45 minutes and on the way to Burlington. The town has all basic amenities; fire dept, small general store, post office, library, churches, historical society and Sissy's Kitchen...Voted Best in Yankee Magazine: Best NE Picnic Cafe (cash & check only), all at the bottom of the property...a lovely 5-minute walk away through our meadows. Step back in time... cell service is only available in the town of Poultney (8 miles west)... so enjoy life the way it was before the madness set in. There is high-speed fiber optic internet.
  • Our Stay At Higher Ground Exceeded All Expectations The pictures of Higher Ground don't do it complete justice. The beautifully repositioned and restored barn is sited at the the edge of a petite Vermont town of Middletown Springs - the 12-acres property is a short distance from the town center - which consists of a church, a general store, the historical society, a cemetery and a Cafe (more about that later). From the deck the views down the valley are amazing and star gazing is incredible. You can hear (but not see) children playing in a farm house across the meadow; and also hear the cows (again not see) come home at night. You can also hear the sounds of the church bells and a carillon at select times. The point is the place is blissfully private and quiet but there are sounds of small town life all around. The house is decorated to the nines - our style is pretty modern, and minimalistic. Cynthia's is not - it is done perfectly. Everywhere you turn there is something interesting to look at with a lot of whimsy there. The downstairs consists of a master bedroom, bath, living room dining area and kitchen. Everything is appointed beautifully and the chairs are all comfortable. The bedroom - is of special note - the king bed is like that on a ship (well except it is a lot larger) - that is you can't walk around it - it is wonderfully cozy and comfortable for two people and two standard poodles. The linens, towels, and all such things are high quality, comfortable and in very ample supply. The wrap around deck - has plenty of seating area - a dining space and most importantly, an outdoor shower! There are two wonderful rooms (with additional beds) upstairs in the old hay loft, each with a desk for writing. We stayed for just shy of three weeks, and as academics are wont to do, we got a fair bit of writing done. Somehow looking out the window down the valley and the mountains - made the writing easier. This is not a house for a large group (we were a couple with three standard poodles). It is also probably not good for families with small children - lots of stairs and many, many breakable things. The surrounding area is beautiful, there are lots of great farms and nearby little towns to visit, various hiking trails are nearby and motor touring is well worth it. Now the Cafe - Sissy's Kitchen - which sits on the lower edge of the property - you can walk around the pond, across the meadows, on perfectly mowed paths to Sissy's. There four days a week, you can pick up to your heart's content gourmet items to eat there or take home. We had two lunches and several dinners from there. Frozen or fresh dinners are available to take out. For a special treat - at least while we where...

  • Pepper and Cynthia's "Higher Ground" was great! Their beautifully finished, antique studded home, is a reclaimed barn that's been in the family for generations. Their commitment to more sustainable practices permeates every aspect of the home and property. We cooked lots in the full and well supplied kitchen. The view is spectacular and we spent many hours sitting on their grand porch just watching clouds and sun roll through the valley. We swam daily in their refreshing spring fed pond and in many of Vermont's nearby swimming holes. At the end of each day, we took advantage of the outdoor shower (didn't shower inside once). One of highlights of this vacation was being able to bring our four-legged family member (woof) along. She enjoyed the pond even more than us! Regarding our hosts, Pepper and Cynthia: they were great too! We arrived on Friday evening and they welcomed us warmly. They were relaxed, enthusiastic and provided lots of helpful information about their space including a tour of the property. They encouraged us to use some of the fresh herbs from their garden. They stocked the house with bottles of local wine, available for $18. While they were easily accessible by the house phone or their high speed internet, we had the house to ourselves for the whole week. Also a treat, Sissy's Cafe, a fantastic gourmet breakfast and lunch spot, is just a 3 minute walk at the base of their hill. Be sure to bring cash or personal check, they don't take credit cards! We highly recommend a stay at "Higher Ground"!

  • "Higher ground" was one of the best places that we have ever stayed and we didn't want to leave. The post and beam renovated barn was amazing . There was so much care involved with the design which had many personal touches and details. The property was peaceful and private with unbelievable views. The barn is perfectly situated to enjoy panoramic views and sunlight -- perfect for relaxing. Middletown Springs was also a perfect location for us and was just what we were looking for. It was a quite town but just a short drive to Rutland and/or Manchester. Cynthia and Pepper recommended Sissy's cafe which just opened for the season. It is a short walk to the cafe which borders their property. The food at Sissy's cafe was also amazing. Pepper & Cynthia were excellent hosts and we can't wait to return! Justin & Jamie

  • This is an incredibly charming home and gorgeous property. We felt like we had our own private oasis. Coming from New York City we were seeking a quiet, relaxing and refreshing weekend...and that's exactly what this place provided. We were able to find great hikes, farm stands and even golf within 30 minutes. If you are looking for an escape from the busy life this is an excellent option!

    Rob and Becca2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Pepper and Cynthia were exceptional hosts. They were warm and inviting, but also respectful of our privacy. The pictures don't do their home justice. Their renovation has brought every needed amenity to the barn without losing the country character. Our favorite part of the entire property was the expansive deck with beautiful views of the Vermont countryside. We definitely hope to visit Pepper and Cynthia again.

    Ryne2015-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • "Higher Ground" was a beautiful and utterly charming place. We had a fantastic time. Pepper is an exceptional host and she has thought of everything in the design and layout of the place. Such attention to details and visitor comfort! It was a delight to stay there and we would certainly look to stay there again next time we get to VT.

    Lynne2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the best vacation rental experiences we've had. Prior to our arrival Pepper provided information about the area and the house and was very accommodating when we asked to bring our dog at the last minute. When we arrived he greeted us and showed us around the house and grounds and answered all of our questions. Higher Ground exceeded our expectations -- moving and renovating the barn was an obvious labor of love and it shows -- the house is impeccable in detail, from the handcrafted furnishings and charming details to the space itself. The kitchen is a true highlight -- a cook's dream. And the downstairs master suite is charming. Upstairs there is a wonderful bedroom and private bath as well as a sitting room with its own bathroom complete with clawfoot tub. The beds are amazingly comfortable and to wake up to the mountain views in autumn is truly a treat. The wraparound deck is also spectacular -- a perfect place to do yoga in the morning and sit out with a glass of wine in the evening. Extra amenities include a dishwasher and washer/dryer, which are real bonuses in a vacation rental. Pepper and Cynthia were incredibly gracious and informative. Higher Ground is a wonderful base to explore the area, from Manchester to Middlebury to Rutland and the quaint town of Middletown Springs. It's a very special place, a hidden gem. We can't wait to return.

    Carolyn2014-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Higher Ground for a two-week writing retreat and found the property to be welcoming, beautiful, quiet, comfortable, inspirational, and encouraging of sustainable living. From the abundance of towels to the variety of porch seating, Pepper and Cynthia provided for every need. As Pepper said, time seems to slow down at Higher Ground, in a way that allows you to connect to what is important. I definitely recommend it as the ideal Vermont getaway, and look forward to getting away there again myself.

Beautiful renovated 1799 farmhouse in Danby, Vermont. Close to skiing - Bromley (30 mins), Okemo (35 mins), Stratton (40 mins), Killington (45 mins). Amazing views all year round. 15 mins to the town of Manchester and outlet shopping.
  • The house and location are beautiful. It's quiet but not too far from things -- Manchester is only about 20 minutes away. Well equipped kitchen. Excellent roads nearby for cycling on pavement or gravel.

    David2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. The previous reviews were definitely accurate. The house had all the amenities you could need including wifi, you just needed to bring food. Tim had great communication and assured that we had everything that we needed. My German Shepherds enjoyed exploring the property. I would recommend to friends as well as stay again if I make my way to VT again.

    Jamal2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Tim's house was perfect for our family getaway to the mountains! The house and neighborhood were secluded and offered a great view of the mountains and easy access to some fun activities we planned for our trip - hiking, swimming, golfing, shopping, and most importantly.. relaxing. The pup had a blast running around and felt at home... he was not ready to leave at the end of our stay.

    Jake2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect Vermont get away, the house is amazing and magical. The property is gorgeous with stunning views. My children enjoyed running around the fields and taking bubble baths in the claw foot tub. The house has everything you will need for a comfortable get away.

  • We just finished a month long stay at Tim's gorgeous house in the mountains and didn't want to leave! It's a perfect get away to enjoy peace and quiet without feeling isolated. The house is spacious and comfortable, and the property seems endless. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook a full meal. The view of the mountains from the large living room is enchanting. The house is 1/2 way between Manchester and Rutland and it was an easy drive to both towns. Tim offered lots of suggestions on things to do in the area. All questions were quickly answered and the whole process was a breeze. We'd stay again!

    Rachel2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This house is beautiful and as-described. We found it to be very clean and in good running order. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of space for everyone. This is a farmhouse from the 1800's and it has a lot of charm. The original room layout, floors, and trim are all preserved. There is also a modern addition that features a great room. It's big enough to hold a dance in! As is typical in an historic home like this, the floors are uneven and the stairs are steep, so anyone with mobility issues will struggle. We were able to move around without issue. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with grass in the yard and several meadows around the house. Wildlife abounds. Deer wander about, hummingbirds were feeding on the flower beds, rabbits were nibbling clover. Beautiful. The views of the meadows and mountains across the valley are stunning. We even had a rainbow one afternoon after a rain shower. The area is very quiet. About 12 cars per day come by. Nighttime is completely silent. The roads getting to the house are dirt but are very well maintained. You do not have any immediate neighbors as everyone up there owns large tracts of land. This is the place if you want to experience Vermont as it was in the 1800's, with the modern ammenities thrown in!

    David2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • My parents, boyfriend and I stayed at Tim's place and we absolutely loved it. It's super quiet and a cute place. It's also a decent drive to many other cute small towns. I'd love to stay here again for another quick getaway / retreat. Thanks for hosting Tim!

    Janet2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tim's place was awesome! It was about a mile up an unpaved road, off the main road. It's located on top of a hill with beautiful views of the mountains. The house is a 1799 farmhouse with t(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)ns of character! It has a 3/4 bath downstairs and 3br, 1ba upstairs. One of the bedrooms came fully equipped with a crib, which was awesome for my 18 month old. There's a queen bed in the same room as the crib, which was handy. Tim even had baby gates setup for us at the stairways! When you walk in, you're greeted with 2 full walls of sliding glass doors which provide amazing views. The den area provides plenty of space to lounge. The kitchen has everything you need, equipped with an empty fridge and dishwasher. The downstairs bath has a claw foot tub while the upstairs bath has a stand up shower. Plenty of character throughout and nice finishes. The property is huge and secluded....30+ acres it seems. The property next to it has a bunch of sheep. My dogs loved chasing each other around the property. It's very dark at night so if you're heading outside, you may need your flashlight. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for peace and quiet! Oh.....the Fun Center down the road has a FANTASTIC maple creemee! They pride themselves in using the best local ingredients!

  • This is a hidden little paradise in the middle of...well...nowhere! Which is why it makes it so wonderful. My boyfriend and I were looking for a reasonably priced, relaxing, and cozy getaway not too far from New York State, and we very serendipitously stumbled onto Cathy and Todd's wonderful home. I cannot express how kind, attentive, and generous Cathy and Todd are. We felt instantly at home in their 1800s farmhouse. Cathy made us delicious breakfasts both mornings of our stay, offered us nearby recommendations and tips, and they were happy to lend us their snowshoes and sleds for a fantastic morning of playing on the snowy hill behind their home. They also let us use their wood burning sauna, which was pretty much utter bliss. Ski resorts are within a short drive, but we didn't feel the need to venture out of the immediate area with such a warm, cozy, and inviting hosts. We definitely hope to come back as soon as we get a chance! Thank you so, so much, Cathy and Todd!

  • Cathy and Todd's homestay has everything you could desire if you are a nature lover and enjoy the peace and tranquility of being away from city life. The farmhouse is gorgeous and our accommodation great. The surroundings are mostly woodlands and wildflower meadows with an amazing amount of wildlife to see and many many beautiful birds to enjoy and we spotted some beauties. Cathy and Todd themselves were fabulous hosts who appear to like nothing better than our enjoying the nature and sharing their piece of land. Breakfast good too. We have had some great stays through Airbnb and this one ranks right up with the best of them. Every intention of returning one day.eleven out of ten!p

  • A private, impeccably clean bedroom and bathroom, a beautiful, tastefully furnished home, a delicious breakfast, an idyllic setting including sauna and pond, and Cathy and Todd (and their sweet pepper, Jake) the most wonderful hosts... what more could one ask for when taking a rural retreat from the hectic pace of real life? We've stayed at aribnbs in Brooklyn, NY, Canary Islands, and even a yurt under the redwoods. This experience was right up there in terms of comfort and beauty. Thank you, Cathy and Todd, for welcoming us and sharing your lovely world and kind selves in such a generous fashion. It was a truly wonderful experience!

    Joy2015-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great stay with Cathy and Todd! They have an absolutely beautiful house -- wonderful pond to sit by during the day, and the stars above at night are incredible. You can see them from the hot tub or the wood-fired sauna. Cathy and Todd are incredibly welcoming, as is their dog Jack. They were very gracious about warmly welcoming not only us but also our 18 month old daughter. They even had some books and toys for her. They made some great hiking recommendations for us. We had our privacy when we wanted it as well. If we are ever anywhere near Vermont again (and hopefully we will be soon), we'll definitely be staying with Cathy and Todd again!

    Andreas2016-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Cathy and Todd's place for a few nights over the Fourth of July week and had a GREAT experience! Both Cathy and Todd were incredibly welcoming and warm. We really enjoyed our stay and looking forward to our visit to Wells VT!

  • Beautifully secluded and scenic. Friendly hospitality!

  • My husband and I could not have enjoyed our stay at Endless Brook Farm more. Cathy and Todd really made us feel at home - a very relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful setting, with great food and friendly conversation. We can't wait until we have another chance to visit!

    Courtney2015-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • I had an incredible stay at Cathy and Todd's! They welcomed me into their beautiful and comfortable home, gave me great tips for hiking around their property and for restaurants in the area, and made me a delicious breakfast on the day of my departure. I especially enjoyed their wood fired sauna and the peaceful natural surroundings. The communication before the visit was quick and kind. I would definitely stay here again!

Your private bedroom is bright and airy. We can provide a king size bed or 2 twin beds.......your choice. We expect to give you a Continental breakfast if you'd like, but we don't provide any other meals. You're welcome to store items in our refrigerator, but we don't allow any other use of our appliances, ie stove, washer or dryer.
  • Sue and Don are such welcoming hosts. Our schedule was such that we came late in the evening and had to leave early in the morning, and they were very accommodating. They have a really beautiful home on a lovely plot of land. The bed was very nicely set up. We stayed there on a clear night which made it a great venue for stargazing. The handmade zucchini bread was a wonderful way to wrap up the memorable stay at Sue and Don's home.

    Hari2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts, Sue and Don, were exceedingly cordial and pleasant. They welcomed us on the evening of Christmas with an offer of dessert and a lovely chat-time by the toasty fire. We were enchanted with the house, which is lovely and with the location, which looks like a picture postcard of rural Vermont. We were visiting relatives, so we didn't spend a lot of time in the house, but when there, Sue and Don were amiable, considerate and a lot of fun to be with. They get high marks from us.

    John2014-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Susan and Don are warm, welcoming hosts - we had a great time chatting over breakfast with them and meeting their dogs. Their house is in a beautiful spot surrounded by mountains, and we both slept like logs in the peace and quiet. They were very accommodating about our wanting to arrive at night, but be forewarned that late-night coming and going is hard due to two dogs who'll bark and wake everyone up when you enter/leave the house. If you plan on keeping early hours, this is a perfect place - if you need to come and go late at night (9pm and later), it's less perfect.

    Jascha2015-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice house and Susan made me feel very welcome. House is convenient to ski resorts.

    John2016-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Susan and Don's house was great! The house is very inviting and comfortable and both our bathroom and bedroom were nice and clean. We received several restaurant recommendations for dinner and had a lovely breakfast with our hosts the next morning. Hopefully we can stay there again in the future!

    Sandra2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Don were very kind. Charli and Maple (the dogs) were also great hosts too! We arrived a little earlier than expected to due weather conditions and it wasn't a problem at all. Sue even made me some tea, because I was so cold from being outside in the bad weather. The room is quaint and cozy, the neighborhood is quiet and there is a town center and plenty of hiking trails nearby. If you get a chance head to Northshire Bookstore which is in town. It's amazing.

  • Susan and Don were the most charming hosts and made us feel very welcome. They're located in a beautiful spot, about a 15-minute drive from Manchester, where there's lots to do and see. Extra marks for Susan's delicious homemade courgette bread and their gorgeous dogs, Charli and Maple!

Green Mountain Off Grid Cabin Just a short jaunt from your vehicle to our cozy, rustic cabin nestled in the Green Mountains. Enjoy the peace and tranquility that come with this private property on hundreds of acres. Running water, electricity, wifi and cell service cease to exist. The perfect place to unwind and relax. For horseback riding reservations please communicate interest when booking cabin.
Our cozy, off grid cabin has a natural spring with a steady flow of non-potable water, an outhouse, a wood stove and propane cook stove. While there is no refrigeration we do provide a cooler and bottled water. The kitchen offers basic cooking utensils. There is a front porch with rocking chairs, a back deck with a picnic table. There is no electricity but as seen in the photos we do have some string lights that can be operated off a battery pack. We also have flash lights and lanterns. In addition to the horseback riding we offer on premise, you will have great hiking opportunities and spectacular views. Nearby you can enjoy swimming holes, mountain biking, fishing, state parks and skiing.
  • A great getaway spot for a night or 3! Very accommodating . The horses greet you when you walk up to your cabin on a hill.

  • Beautiful location and truly a 'get away from it all' type of property. Greatly enjoyed my stay!

    Nadyia2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin is a bit of an uphill walk from parking lot. It's difficult to see in the dark, so arrive before dark if you can! Ashlee and her mom are nice people and the horses are awesome! There are only two twin air mattresses on frames, so if you expect a romantic getaway you may have to snuggle. VERY close together :) The wood stove is nice but the place isn't really insulated so temps drop overnight. Definitely off-grid. No cell signal in most of the surrounding area until you get back to main roads!

    Heather2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Ashlee was a great host. I had a lot of trouble getting to the location because of difficulties getting a vehicle. But Ashlee and her husband were very understanding and patient. The location is beautiful and the cabin is amazing. I highly recommend to pay a visit here. It is well worth it.

  • Our experience at Jeff's was wonderful. One thing not mentioned, in the description of the place, is how amazing the network of dirt roads are around the house. As a runner it really made the trip that much more awesome. The house was clean and very peaceful and the landscape was beautiful. Everyone had a blast and I would plan a second trip there without hesitation. If you're looking for a break from the hustle and bustle, like I was, this is the place!!

    Tim2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our group from Boston had a wonderful weekend at Jeff's cabin. The house is in a beautiful, wooded neighborhood with gorgeous mountain views. Though it was freezing outside, we spent a lot of time hanging out on the wraparound deck taking in the scenery. The house itself is comfortable with sleeping arrangements as described. This is a great place if you want a cabin to relax in that's not too expensive and can accommodate large groups. On a personal note, Jeff and his wife Paula were delightful hosts.

    Suzanne2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay here. It was the perfect size for two families (4 adults and 5 kids). Very clean, beautiful views and great location to nearby Stratton and Manchester. We would love to return some day!!

    Kevin2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely weekend escape to Jeff's Danby Vermont log house! Place was lovely and very private with stunning gorgeous views of the Mountains and fall foliage! The vibrant bold colors of Vermont in Fall were on full display and Jeff's house offered great private panoramic views. The pellet stove once we figured out how to get it going was peaceful to watch and kept us warm and the 2 outdoor firepits were great! We built a fire one night with the Adirondack chairs around the pit and looked up at the canopy of stars with our kids. Perfect. Jeff's house is also really big! There are 4 bedrooms and the whole downstairs is a separate area that looks brand new. The kids room has 2 bunk beds so really there are 7 beds throughout ... More then enough room. The house is in a nice area about a 25min drive to popular Manchester Village where there are lots of restaurants and shops. Bromely Mountain is also fairly close and during the summer/fall they have an Adventure Land that was super fun for the kids with rides, climbing towers, zip lines and a go-cart slide down the mountain which my 6 year old son is still talking about to all his friends. All in all it was a lovely beautiful relaxing tranquil weekend escape to our favorite state of Vermont! We certainly would love to return to Jeff's beautiful private house in the Mountains of Southern Vermont!

    Jonathan2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place. Great location in the mountains that offered lots of enjoyable activities for the family. Perfect for families with access to great outdoor space, lots of games and activities for them to do.

  • We spent an amazing holiday week at Jeff's Danby Cabin. Everything was great. The house was very cozy and big, we enjoyed snowboarding at nearby resorts, grilling delicious dinners and spending evenings playing games by the fire place. I appreciated very much Jeff's quick replies to my messages/questions. It was a wonderful experience - I will definitely recommend this house to my friends and I am sure everyone who will stay there will enjoy it as we did!

    Julia2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for an escape from the city noises to spend a quality family-friend time, this is an ideal place! I would specially like to mention about the toys and kitchenett they have, which kept my 5 year old daughter fully occupied and excited the whole time!

    Antara2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cabin and exactly as shown and described -- we couldn't have been happier with it! The rooms were spacious, ample heating (even when it got down to subzero temps in the area during our trip), and there is a large walk-in basement from the driveway that was very handy when coming back from skiing. Also love the main greatroom with the pellet stove. The owners were a pleasure to deal with. This place will certainly will be top of my list next time I am in the area.

  • This place was amazing! Ruth and Adam were very helpful and friendly. We felt very welcome and comfortable in this house. Everything we needed was right there! Features we loves were the fireplace and giant kitchen (well stocked). The area is very private and near many attractions. We skied all week at 3 different resorts. Furthermore, allowing us to bring our dogs was very important to us. We would love to stay again! -Kerri & Michael

    kerri 2015-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth and Adam were very welcoming. They called to welcome us and also checked in on us in between our stay. We were actually so busy enjoying Vermont that we never spoke on the phone as we were never home when they called! However we were able to keep in touch with email. We enjoyed staying at this house for many reasons. We have a 4 and 5 year old and we are used to "big city" living. It was nice to take a breath and relax on the property. Our kids, whom have never had a yard before besides a public park or public playground, were beyond thrilled to have so much space to run around and catch beetles, frogs, butterflies and everything else. The house itself is very large and comfortable for our family of 4. We stayed an entire month and had no issues with anything working. The house is extremely open and has lots of windows which is nice for the feel of it but also great for keeping an eye on the kids from inside when needed. You can do many nature walks/hikes right from the property and at night the fire flies and stars are amazing. Highly recommend this house for a long or short stay.

    Emily2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This a very lovely place. Ruth made it very easy to stay here, attentive and responsive, without being intrusive. Internet, phone, Roku are great to stay connected, but the beautiful views are way more entertaining. Kitchen is well equipped. Was private, clean, quiet, and comfortable.

    Mandi2015-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. We had an amazing time at this house! the hosts were very clear about the space, it was very well appointed (down to good knives in the kitchen), and it was the perfect summer getaway for our family! The setting is idyllic and great for star gazing...we definitely hope to get back to Pawlet!

    Gretchen2014-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • My boys, our two dogs just returned from a very comfortable stay at Ruth's place at Pawlet, VT. The view from the house was amazing. The house is set back from the road, so it was really private. We really enjoyed cooking at home both on the grill and in the kitchen. My grown boys absolutely loved the stereo system, the sound quality of Bose system was excellent for playing their favorite bands, drinking beer, starting a roaring fire and some brotherly bonding. Our dogs loved roaming the property, albeit on leash on account of the 4 giant German shepherd dogs at the neighboring property. Do pack groceries and essentials, the nearest super market is 25 min away and there was only one restaurant in town ( Pawlet Station) that was open during our stay. All in all, it was a relaxing few days. Ruth is a great host and I would recommend this property both because of her responsiveness and the warmth of her home.

    Perri2015-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Words really can't describe what a wonderful three weeks we spent on Ruth's beautiful property. It's a home that has a really unique and special energy and the most breathtaking mountain view. Ruth's home is located on a beautiful private road in the rural town of Danby. It's surrounded by fields of wildflowers with mowed trails that allow you to walk through them. I loved the fact that the 10 acre property gives you complete PRIVACY, without having to worry about neighbors at all. The house itself is tastefully furnished without feeling stuffy. It has interesting artwork, a beautiful dining room ( the pictures here don't do it justice) and a spacious living room with a fireplace that we used almost every night as we played board games and read. Ruth's kitchen was probably better stocked than the one in my own at home. I miss cooking in it already! In the evening we would often walk along the country roads around the house---which lead to farms and pastures. As it got dark, the lightening bugs would come out. It was magical. The towns around Danby are also lovely. We went to some great farmers markets in Manchester and Pawlet and enjoyed driving and strolling through Dorset. The hosts themselves were absolutely perfect. They gave us complete privacy and stayed out of our hair, but were always available and promptly addressed any and all concerns. They were very well- organized and prepared with a very informative booklet of info and were very pleasant to deal with over the phone/email. This place is a real gem. I plan to come back again next year. Thank you so much for your hospitality, Ruth!!!!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Andrea and Ed's for a horse show/mini vacation. I strongly recommend their place to anyone looking for a nice break from reality. The view from the house is stunning. It's a great location and not too far from Manchester Center. Andrea and Ed were incredible hosts. So friendly and informative!

    Casey2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had the pleasure to stay at Andrea and Ed's place in Danby. We were met with a warm reception and it seemed as though we were already friends. The room was very spacious with comfortable furnishings and was clean. My wife Tricia noticed the curtains in the bedroom how nice they were. Turns out Andrea makes curtains! If we needed something our hosts were very responsive. Otherwise, they respected our privacy. The mountain views from their property are incredible! Also, the grounds are very nice. Their chickens offer entertainment and fresh eggs for breakfast. Ed is a bee keeper, and has fresh honey available. A country vacation destination hard to beat! We will be back!

    Wyatt2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea and Ed were lovely and my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We liked it so much that we are returning next week and have told our friends about it. I have not one complaint about our stay and it is a beautiful location for fun or to just relax. Despite saying that we would only be in and out Andrea made us a yummy loaf of banana bread and left fresh fruit and milk for coffee in the frig. Their home grown honey is delicious too- I must try:)

    Sandra2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We has an awesome stay; we just can't say enough! Great people, great spot, plenty of room and two bathrooms! Hosts were fabulous! I can't wait until we are back next year!

    Deb2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • If you're anywhere near Andrea and Ed's place, don't miss their truly unique taste of hospitality! Everything about our stay was perfect. As the designation is private room with a private bath, my husband and I didn't expect such spacious accommodations. Firstly, we were greeted in such a way that it made us feel like we were visiting friends we'd known for a long time. And, we couldn't get enough of the outstanding view from their perfect perch. Incredible! Their place is immaculately clean, comfortable, and beautifully styled. The bed gave us a much-needed restful night's sleep. As others have commented, they are the best hosts as we were greeted with banana bread and other homemade renderings such as homemade beer and mead. Andrea and Ed had suggestions of hikes which were close by as well as some nearby falls which were just minutes away. The Summer Horse Festival was also a ten-minute drive from their home. We didn't have time to see it, but are planning to make it part of our visit there next summer. In the morning, we were surprised with a beautiful breakfast Andrea made for us, along with muffins made with raspberries they had picked the day before! We couldn't have asked for a better way to end our trip to Vermont. We'll be looking to book with them on our next trip to the area. Truly a gem! Thank you for everything Andrea and Ed!

    Frank2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea and Ed were both wonderful hosts and made my girlfriend and I feel very welcome. We both really enjoyed our stay and recommend their place to anyone visiting Southern Vermont. The place is clean, roomy, well appointed, and tastefully decorated. We were there for a ski vacation and this place is centrally located to several of Vermont's southern ski resorts. Thank you Andrea and Ed for your gracious hospitality.

    Richard2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea and Ed were easy and prompt with communication. Their listing was completely accurate (and really spacious), but neither photos nor words can fully describe the breathtaking view from the back patio! The house is quite isolated and elevated, so though the local drives require caution, the views and tranquility are wonderful. They were wonderful hosts, and the space suited our needs perfectly. If we ever have the need or occasion to return to the Danby area, we would definitely want to stay here again.

    Ben2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • My brother and I had an amazing stay here. The view is stunning and peaceful! The place was spacious, clean, and comfortable. There is a mini fridge available along with a toaster, a pot to warm up your water for tea, a coffee machine, and cups and utensils to use. Andrea was always feeding us treats which was a great surprise. If you have a chance to stay here then do it because you will not regret it. It's less than a 30 minute drive to Manchester Center where there is plenty to do. Thank you so much for opening up your home to us! If we are ever back in town we will be sure to stay here again!

Magnificent view. Tranquil and quiet, except for the occasional owl at night. The deer, as a rule, make no noise. Wild turkey babies chirp when walking in line behind their mothers.
  • Beautiful home in a lovely setting! Very charming. Enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again.

  • The Rye Chalet was perfect! We celebrated New Years and a 30th Birthday with friends. The kitchen was open and made it easy to cook for the group, while the fire place/ living room was the clear "hang out spot." We were blessed with snow prior/ during our time and the mountain view was simply magnificent. Prior to our stay Merry Lee shared information that made arrival and settling in easy. We'd recommend the Rye Chalet to any responsible group looking for a comfortable and relaxed setting in the Vermont country.

  • The house is exactly as pictured. There is a large wood burning fireplace that we loved and highly recommend using. The hosts left wood for us and we ended up ordering more and playing games by the fire for a good chunk of the weekend. The rooms were tidy and since each is on a different floor, there is privacy. The views from the living room were beautiful. The hosts sent us emails prior to our arrival with instructions and answered our questions about nearby attractions with a lot of detail. The temperatures were pretty frigid during our stay, but when we did venture out, we took advantage of the hosts' tips. We ended up going to magic mountain - which was about an hour away. Tubing was great! Again, because of the cold, we did spend a lot of time indoors. The video library was a great asset - we ended up watching the Godfather and Meet the Parents. The staircase was a really big attraction for our 16 month old so we blocked access to it with two chairs. Really enjoyed this house and would definitely recommend it!

  • The house was truly the perfect find. It was an excellent spot to pick for our reunion. We all had an amazing weekend and would definitely come back!

  • A gem in the mountains!

  • The Rye Chalet was the perfect setting for our small family get together. We took advantage of the gorgeous nearby hiking, watched sunsets on the deck, enjoyed home cooked meals together and played some competitive card games at the beautiful custom card table! ML was a gracious and very communicative host and we could not have asked for a better stay. Would recommend the chalet to all!

  • Great getaway in the mountains in VT. We were looking to have an unplugged weekend in a quiet area, and this was the perfect place for it. The house was even nicer than what was shown in the photos, and the sunset view was absolutely breathtaking. We had some extremely friendly interactions with locals in the area, and grocery/supply stores were within close driving distance. Would definitely recommend this place for small groups/couples.

  • This is a great, secluded chalet - perfect for our girls' getaway weekend! Bedrooms and baths on each floor so it is perfect for multiple families. The spiral staircase is a fun twist and the fireplace came in handy for the cold November evening.

You have officially arrived at your peaceful mountain retreat! This custom-built 2BR, 1BA home is nestled in the foothills of the green mountains of VT and is ready to welcome you! The home sits on a 48 acre lot and is close to skiing, hiking, and town (10 mins). You will love the woodwork, floor-to-ceiling windows, massive sunny deck, and peace and quiet. There is plenty of space for family memory making. Welcome to your new Vermont escape!
When you walk into the home from the road side of the lot, you will first walk into a large "mud room" where you will have space to hang your hat/coat and also to store any ski gear, bikes, or other recreational toys you decide to bring up with you. You will then enter the home near the kitchen where you will be greeted with an open floor plan, vaulted ceilings, real pine everything, a fully equipped kitchen, and floor to ceiling windows. The "breakfast nook" serves as a sunny place to dine in the morning and a beautiful family gathering space in the evening. There are two equal sized bedrooms with one queen bed in each room that share a common bath. We have two couches (not fold out) and can provide bedding for an extra fee. It is heated by gas and always warm and cozy (to your liking of course). When you walk through to the back of the home (away from the road), you are greeted with beautiful vaulted ceilings and floor to ceiling windows that overlook farmland and the green mountains you came here for!
North Clarendon is a small town located 20 minutes from Okemo and Jackson Gore, 25 minutes from Pico, and 35 minutes from Killington Ski Resorts. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails nearby and the town of Rutland is only a 10 minute drive. If you are flying in, the closest airports are Town of Rutland, VT. (10 minutes), Burlington, VT (1.5 hours) Albany, NY (just under 2 hours) and Boston (3 hours).
  • This place is awesome. More than a 5 STAR rating ... The communication was uncomplicated, the welcome was very warm and the house was just WOW. A very cozy, clean and quiet place, so comfortable ... perfect. I was there with my girlfriend and another couple and it was perfect. Two separate bedrooms with very comfortable beds and a large kitchen with much space for cooking. Jeff presented us a wine as a welcome gift which was very nice (and tasty ^^). We needed time to calm down during our ride from Boston to Niagara Falls and this place was perfect. It was very quiet, chirring crickets, stars and the milky way, an awesome garden and view to the hills. We used our time to go for a small hike near to the house (10min by car - Long Pond trail/Bald Mountain). A supermarket was very close (5min by car) and parking was right before the front door. It was a pity that we already have to leave after two days. I would highly recommend this place. Thanks Jeff :)

  • Jeff’s house was perfect. The beautiful Vermont landscape surrounds you while house makes you feel warm and at home. We hiked some local trails and tried to absorb as much of golden red autumn as possible. This house is a truly great listing.

My place is 4+ acres close to great views, Okemo, Killington, Pico, and Stratton ski areas. Less than 1/2 a mile from the Long trail and Appalachian trail system and Clarendon gorge swinging bridge. Situated 100 ft from one of our beautiful covered bridges in a quaint little private settlement of homes. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and furry friends.
  • First thing when I walked in the door, Beth was there to offer a hug of welcome to me and my family! We loved this house. I stayed there with my husband, two young teens, and our 2 dogs. There was plenty of room for everyone to have space. The kids went in the pool several times, but the ambient temperature made it a little too chilly. Maybe next time. We loved being able to make s'mores each night using the firepit, and the kids loved feeding the tadpoles in the frog pool. I loved watching the birds at the feeder while I drank my coffee. We had great wi-fi, and Chromecast to use. The location is pretty central, about 15 minutes to Rutland, and 20 minutes to Ludlow. The Long Trail of the Appalachian trail is only 1/2 mile from the house. We went there and had a swim after crossing the suspension bridge. There is another swimming hole in the george very close by as well. I didn't take the kids down there, because my husband went and said there were people skinny dipping. He was told by someone driving by that skinny dipping takes place a lot in Vermont. So, just be aware, if you have kids. The more private the location, the higher the chances are swimsuits will be considered optional. I would also recommend a visit to Pine Hill Park in Rutland. Nice, easy hiking paths. They have both biking trails and pedestrian only trails. We had a nice hike. The trails are well marked, wooded, and there are numerous trees marked with an explanation of they type, etc. If you're looking for a place to eat try the Sandwich Shoppe on Merchants Rowe in Rutland. They have the most delicious hamburger buns we've ever had in our lives. Kind of a cross between a bread, a roll, and a biscuit. Absolutely fantastic. Overall, we had a great experience, and I would recommend this property. Although, I wouldn't recommend it for families with really young children, simply because the stairs to the second bedroom are open, there is no banister.

  • Had a wonderful and relaxing 24 hours! Really felt at home... I recommend downloading the Sky Map application and standing outside at night! Great view of the stars! Plan to come through here again sometime!!!

  • Great little country home, tucked away in the country, but close to towns and slopes. Beth was a great host.

  • Nice place for a few folks who are interested in staying near Rutland.

  • Great place! Beth was a great host who made our weekend very relaxing and enjoyable. Beautiful area.

    Michelle2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Beth's. She welcomed us home as soon as we got there and gave us lots of tips on what to do while we were in town. Beth was great and we really enjoyed VT.

    Olivia2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beth's home is indeed very cozy! The area is very scenic with rivers and surrounded by mountains. Rutland offers many activities and restaurants to enjoy; I recommend the farmers' market, Wilson Castle, and the Yellow Deli. There are beautiful hiking trails everywhere. Lastly, we could always come back home and completely relax.

    Felipe2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beth was responsive, welcoming and warm. Her house is a small, no-frills cabin in a little rural neighborhood and a bit dark but spotlessly clean and a great value for the money.

  • This was our second stay at Andrea's beautiful home. If you're looking for spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and delicious food then look no further. Great conversation, the friendly and furry Lulu, and a luxurious soak in the hot tub are add bonuses. Will definitely be back!

  • I planned a ski trip with co-workers at Killington Resort and we wanted to stay at a location nearby. We found Andrea's place was about 20 min away from the mountain and looked like a comfortable spot. And it really was! Andrea was a phenomenal host and the BnB was exceptional. The rooms were very clean and had everything we needed. I felt right at home. She made us an outstanding breakfast (blueberry pancakes, sausages, eggs, homefries, and incredible raspberry coffee cake that I wish I could have every morning). I wish we had stayed longer. Anytime I visit Killington, Andrea's place will be my go-to choice.

    Joshua2015-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea was very accommodating with allowing us to cancel our reservation last minute due to inclement weather. I appreciate that level of respect very much and look forward to giving her my business the next time I'm in the area.

The modern log cabin at Hidden Valley Farm, in Wells, Vermont offers you comfort, modern-day convenience and a view over 400 private acres of wildlife, meadows, woodlands and ponds to explore.
A nicely laid out log cabin with modern conveniences and appliances, and a stone fireplace and a view looking out over the 400 acres of Hidden Valley Farm in Wells, Vermont.
The cabin is in a rural countryside. You will not be able to see any neighbors. The only other structures on the 400 Hidden Valley Farm acres are a barn and Farm House down the hill from the Log Cabin.
  • Really enjoyed my short stay at the cabin. It was very peaceful and quiet. Gorgeous natural views of surrounding mountains. I wish I could’ve stayed longer.

  • A group of six of us stayed over NYE weekend, Merry was extremely nice via messaging and quick to respond. All details of the house were as described. We loved having our little cabin in the woods. Long drive threw back roads, but worth it. We also snowboarded at Bromley Mountain which was about 45 minutes away. The Barn Restaurant was a absolutely amazing - great atmosphere, good food and Vermont feel. Overall, we were happy to ring in the New Year at this lovely getaway cabin. Very satisfied! Thank you!

    Kasia2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Log Cabin at Hidden Valley Farm is such an amazing retreat from the hustle and bustle. The views, the fireplace, fire pit and amenities were unbeatable. Not to mention that the cabin was spotless. The handbook they provide gave us so many ideas on what to do and where to eat in the area. Our personal favorite was The Wells General Store...sandwiches were delicious! Only glitch we ran into was that firewood was promised, but was not left, so we did have to spend some time finding some in town. All in all...we cannot wait to return!

    Tiffany2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely retreat spot and/or base for rushing out and about--clean, equipped, nothing to be without-- wonderful view and ready responses from host.

    Carol2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't have imagined a better setting for the serene Vermont backcountry getaway that we were looking for. Nearly everything exceeded our expectations: the cabin itself was even nicer than it looked in the pictures, the view through the mountains was unreal, and having access to the entire farm gave us plenty of space to roam around. Loved the cows too. Everything we needed for a comfortable, pleasant weekend was provided in the cabin. The location was also ideal because it felt totally secluded from everything, but the nearby towns were easily accessible when needed. Would definitely recommend, thanks so much for letting us stay here!!

America's only original Grist Mill & Covered Bridge historic residence, as seen on HGTV's "You Live in What?" Central Vermont's historic and romantic getaway features beach (on Vermont's warmest river) with tethered, relaxing float tubes & private deck over Mill River's waterfalls. Near Killington & Okemo Mtn * NEW IN 2017: Gold panning on your private mill beach ! ** INQUIRE about a private beginner lesson with design artist Linda K. Evans. You'll take home a finished framed masterpiece
2,800 square feet of The Kingsley Grist Mill's mind-bending architectural craftsmanship is your to enjoy. The master suite has a rattan & iron queen posted bed. The guest room has a plush posted early american antique double/queen bed and dresser and is home to a rare "crazy quilt" made in 1905. If needed or preferred, the third bedroom is created in the artists loft with a plush and comfortable queen folding sofa bed one flight up and just one flight below the mill's 360 degree vista cupola. Among the treasured architectural features of the mill's 20th century rehabilitation are a six foot vintage Sparta, Georgia plaster ceiling medallion hand made and mounted by David Flaharty. David is one of America's most celebrated craftsmen having completed works for the U.S. Capital, White House, State Department and numerous Presidential libraries. His works are on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and in private collections throughout America. The tiles circumscribing the master suite bathroom were hand made in David Flaharty's studio and are exact castings from the elevator lobby of the famous Burnham & Root - Reliance Building, Chicago, Illinois. Our guests have spoken: Do not miss a chance to have DJ Ron spin some vintage vinyl on the most awesome sound system on Airbnb (included in your stay but please pre-arrange). This legendary studio monitor was custom built for Michael Jackson's lead guitarist and LA recording studio owner Phil "Float'in" Houghton, in 1974.
Although the KIngsley Grist Mill is only a half mile from the Rutland Regional airport, your stay, in the cathedral ceiling grain bin master suite, is set along one the most breathtaking undisturbed natural waterfalls and first generation pine forest stands in central Vermont, just outside the door to your private balcony. Located halfway between Killington and Okemo ski areas.
  • This is a unique building in a very picturesque setting. We were only in Vermont for a week and spent only one night here. I would recommend trying to spend at least two nights to be able to truly enjoy the setting. Ron offered to give us a short tour or long tour when we arrive and I asked for the long tour. He is justifiably proud of the restoration and adaptations he oversaw. He fully described the process and details of construction. There are two balconies overlooking the stream which provide a beautiful perch for sitting, and, with open sliding glass, the stream provides a beautifully lulling way to fall asleep. Linda provided a very nice breakfast so we didn't need to go anywhere. And, Ron played some powerful tracks on his sensational sound system. I have long had a decent sound system and a wide interest in music, so we thoroughly enjoyed the selections he chose for us. Remember the old Memorex ad with the guy sitting in front of a speaker, gripping the arms of the chair with his hair blown back and tie blown straight out over his shoulder? That is the effect of Ron's sound system! The home is nicely furnished with abundant art from both Linda and other artists. Ron and Linda were available, friendly, and contributed to the enjoyment of our stay yet made it a point to be unobtrusive when we were not asking for their presence. Our stay was memorable, we would (and may) return, and I would predict that yours would be too!

  • Kingsley Grist Mill is not just an apartment, it's an experience. It is absolutely gorgeous, huge an mysterious. The river is perfect for a morning dip after a jog along the appelachian trail up the road. The area has more sights than you will ever have time to see. Let Ron treat you to a concert on his 70's high-end stereo in the evening. Linda and Ron are perfect hosts and the place really needs to be experienced. EASILY the most memorable airbnb stay.

    Ingvild2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far my favorite AirBnB site ever! Loved the mill, the restoration work, the art, and the incredible scenery. Ron and Linda are terrific hosts. Ron gave a great tour and history of the site; they had a fire all prepped so we could sit and enjoy the river; and they provided a really great breakfast and coffee in the morning. I hope to get back to stay again for a few days so we can really take in the incredible location and all the Mill has to offer.

    Vince2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Warm and gracious welcome from Ron and his wife, Linda. They gave us a full tour of their incredible home and helped us to get settled and oriented. The Mill is certainly a labor of love-- incomparable setting, careful restoration work, extraordinary attention to detail and respect for the historical and cultural significance of the site. All of it made for an unforgettable experience.

  • It was the most amazing and magical weekend of our lives. The natural beauty of this place cannot be described in a paragraph nor photos. The absolutely stunning Mill, pristine view of the river and beautiful antique décor makes you forget your worries, and your routine life. The accommodations were great and the Mill has all the comfort that you would ever need. But if you would think of anything else that you need, be sure that Ron will be there to hand it to you :-) Ron and his lovely wife are the best hosts you could wish for. I cannot wait to come back there again. Gene

  • It's so peaceful, the hosts are wonderful, the veiws are spectacular, your not far from Rutland if you need that sort of thing. The breakfast was to die for, better than we've had at hotels.

    Marc2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Ron & Linda's place was a wonderful & unique experience. If you like history, the beauty of nature & warm & welcoming people the Mill is the place to go. Breakfast was delicious & Ron's concert was a a very special step back in time for us. The love & hard work they have put into their home is all around, from Linda's beautiful paintings to the interesting antiques. You can relax on the deck or enjoy listening to the river as you sleep in the modern master bedroom. Wish we could have stayed more than one night!

Cozy lake cottage on the quiet end of Lake St. Catherine. One bedroom house with large screened in porch overlooking lake with views of preserved land. 5 minute drive to State Park or you can canoe or kayak over through the channel. 5 minutes to public golf course. Relax by the water or go explore the lake with kayaks or canoes. We have one canoe and a one person kayak. Good fishing. Many local restaurants but you'll be happy to grill by the lake on the screened in porch with beautiful sunset views. A pristine getaway but close to Manchester or Dorset for arts, shopping, restaurants, theatre and antiques; 20-25 minutes. International Horse Show in July/August in Dorset. 4.5 hours from NYC. Aero bed for child or extra guests. Wifi. DVD player, tv, radio, comcast cable, gas grill, and gas fireplace. Well behaved pets allowed with small deposit.
  • What an amazing couple of weeks we have had here! It was the perfect spot to relax on our holiday!! The views of the lake from every room of the cottage was just wonderful. Kayaking and exploring the small towns close by was almost a daily event! The cottage is more beautiful than the pictures show and was amazingly equipped and immaculately clean with anything you could possibly need. We would definitely return to this beautiful place! The sunsets on the porch and deck in these beautiful surroundings can't be beat. Lee Anne was great in communicating with us and was there by email or phone if needed. The neighbors are very friendly too. It's a dream spot to vacation!

  • We stayed at the cottage with our two dogs for a 3 day weekend. The place is outfitted with everything one would need... canoe, kayak, fans galore, complete kitchen and the lake of course. The cottage is really cute with a wonderful screened-in porch overlooking the water. This is a great spot for a quiet Vermont getaway. Our hosts were extremely responsive and provided great information.

  • This cottage is really very nice and was the perfect place to stay during a local conference/summer getaway. We found everything was as advertised on the site. We also received comprehensive welcoming information before our arrival that helped ensure a wonderful visit. We enjoyed quiet dinners on the porch overlooking the lake, afternoon canoe trips on Lake St. Catherine, and breakfast at the lovely general store in the town center. Thank you to Nicole and family. Also thankful for a place that welcomes pets.

    Anda2013-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were very welcomed by the owners who sent us detailed notes of things to do in the area as well as several phone calls to check in to see that all was well. The cottage is in a quiet area on "Little Lake" with houses on either side. We found the neighbors (and dogs) very friendly. The cottage is well set up for a couple (one bedroom) and possibly one child (we brought our 4 month old son). The cottage is equipped with everything one would need - even internet service! The most special part of our experience was our late afternoons sitting on the sun-filled screened porch - the view of the lake is stunning. We enjoyed the area very much! The cottage is decorated beautifully and has a rustic charm.

  • The cottage is lovely and a perfect spot for some serious relaxing. We loved having breakfast on the patio on the water. Our annual family reunion was just a canoe ride up the lake. It was such a delight to arrive by boat to everyone's amazement. We hope we can come back again next year. Lee Ann was very sweet and sent us a very detailed description of everything we would need to know. This covered driving directions, contact info, where things are and how things work. She called to make sure we where settled in and had everything we needed. The cottage is amazingly well equipped.

  • The place was charming. Very country and antiquey. If you like everything modern, this place isn't for you. Great kitchen and grill but bathroom and bedroom on the small side. Bed a very soft and is a full not a queen so if you love a good bed on vacation, this is not a good fit either. Screened in porch and outdoor space is lovely. A bit close to neighbors but that's usually a given on lake living. Nice boating but make sure to look closely at reviews regarding see weed. There is tons. I would not call it a great swimming lake but good for boating and if you don't mind paying $4 a day, you can drive to the state park for a lovely beach. Also, the state park doesn't have great hiking though there is a rail train nearbye but if you are looking for the VT hiking experience, we couldn't find anything great that was close. Lee Ann was very nice and accommodating and has a nice sheet of things to do. Cute little bakery 5 minutes away. Not great restaurants but its a great get away from it all spot. Overall a great fall trip for us (no swimming so see weed didn't bother us)!
