The Granary is a beautiful self catering rural retreat, open plan new kitchen/sitting room with wood burner. It is located in beautiful upland Montgomeryshire on the east side of the Cambrian Mountains and has spectacular 35 mile views down the Trannon & Severn Valley.
The Granary is a lovely relaxing and cosy rural self catering cottage consisting of a converted cart shed below and granary above, with a new open plan kitchen/sitting room with a wealth of character, beams and wood burner. It is located in the stunning upland Montgomeryshire countryside on the east of the Cambrian Mountains with spectacular 35 mile views over the Trannon and Severn Valley from the windows and terrace. This is the perfect retreat if you are looking for peace and quiet. It is set in a traditional welsh farm yard on a five and half acre organic smallholding, it is very private with its own garden and positioned on a large terrace looking down the valley with its spectacular views, which is ideal for entertaining, barbecuing or games. Very secluded with the nearest neighbor a quarter of a mile away! Downstairs is an open plan new kitchen, lounge and dining area with glass fronted wood burner. The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed for self catering. In the extension is the sofa which pulls out to create the third comfy double bed. There is one bedroom, a landing bedroom (both doubles) and bathroom upstairs and 'pull out' double down stairs, this is a comfy bed settee, which can easily be made into a private space with screens. The Granary sleeps 6 comfortably. Electricity included, lpg gas hob and oven. Bedding and one towel per person supplied. The log basket is filled for short stays (2 nights) as part of the package, and there is a charge of £8 per 'barrow load' once these are used up. There is a TV & DVD player. No wifi in property but is available in yard outside main house. Also, High Chair, Charcoal BBQ, picnic table, outdoor seating. We have a selection of local maps, games, adult and children's books for rainy days. This is the ideal place to come and stay if you just want to 'get away from it all'. Deep in the heart of beautiful countryside and nature, but only 4 miles from local shops and amenities. Children are welcome with a lovely large lawn area for play. There is no cot for infants, however there is a small 'pull out' single bed in the master bedroom. You are welcome to bring your own cot. Within the grounds there is a hectare of newly planted native woodland which you are welcome to explore and an established wildlife pond. More images, including interior, if you click on the any of the pictures in this listing. There is no shower only a bath and no WiFi in the cottage, only outside the main house.
The Granary is only 4 miles from the pretty market town of Llanidloes with its timber framed market hall in the centre of town. Llanidloes also offers everything you could need for shopping with lots of local independent shops selling local produce and wares and there is a couple of supermarkets. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs too. You are in spectacular country side around here with fantastic walking country on the edge of the Cambrian mountains, between the Snowdonia National Park and the Brecon Beacons making this an ideal location for adventurers. With many other local attractions including Sailing and fishing on Clywedog Lake, Powys Castle, Ynyshir Nature Reserve, Local Street Markets, Pristine Sandy Beaches 45 minutes away. Nant y Aran Red Kite Centre, Rivers Severn and Wye, Cadir Idris, Offas Dyke, National Cycle route, Glyndwr's Way - National Trail, Powy's Castle, Centre of Alternative Technology, walk to source of the River Severn to name a few.
  • The Granary was a wonderful cosy place to stay for a weekend away in Wales. We used it as a base to go walking, climb Cader Idris and visit Powis Castle. The upstairs bedroom, landing bedroom and pullout (with a privacy curtain) easily slept six people (three couples). Bez was a lovely host and shared lots of advice on the local Welsh sights. The Granary is unashamedly a farm building and it's a little rough around the edges. But the wood fire is warm, the view over the valley is amazing and it's the perfect escape from the city.

  • We had a fantastic time at the Granary, the house is perfect for a weekend away. Bez was very welcoming and had very useful tips on local walks and beaches in the surrounding area. Would highly recommend visiting the Granary for some fresh air and a cosy home.

  • This house is a gem! We had such a wonderful, relaxing four nights here. We arrived much later than planned on our first night, and Bez had the house all warmed up for our arrival. The place is warm, inviting, and was stocked up with all the essentials. Waking up with the most incredible view was the absolute highlight and the property is stunning. Bez is an excellent host! Not only did she make us feel welcomed and made the place inviting, she also had wonderful suggestions on places to see in the area. Plus, she was available at any time. We loved our stay here and we highly recommend this beautiful place!

  • Great location with plenty to discover on your doorstep and picturesque landscape surrounding. The warming fire is a treat to come back to. Bez is a welcoming and accommodating host. Can't really ask for much more!

  • Bez was incredibly welcoming and helpful. We arrived late on a Friday night and she was still there to let us in and explain everything. The cottage was exactly as it seems in the listing and the local area was beautiful.

  • Great place! Amazing views, really nice host and cool house. Would recommend to anyone.

    Michael2017-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice peaceful retreat in rural Wales with great views (particularly if you're lucky enough to have good enough weather during your stay to make use of the picnic table). Bez was a great host and was helpful with our pre-trip queries and also gave us plenty of ideas for things to do during our stay.

    Waheed2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Its an idyllic place far from the madding crowds. While the property is quaint and ticks the basic boxes, we thought we could have been made aware of the fact that the bathroom has no shower and the fact that it takes an hr before the water gets heated between successive baths, we would have been better prepared. Also, the fact that the washing machine was out of use. Other than these inconveniences, we enjoyed the stay. The host is friendly and helpful.

  • Our stay in Robert's converted chapel was exceptional. The chapel is a fantastic and creative space (even better than in Robert's photos), with modern appliances (kitchen and bathrooms) and comfortable, clean and cosy rooms overlooking paddocks of sheep (for an authentic Wales experience). There is a backyard terrace as well as a grand-dining table, and comfortable lounges. The space is entirely available for guests. Robert was a very generous and sociable host- available 24/7 during the period of our stay: From preparing us coffee to lending us gum boots (wellington boots) and giving us a walking tour around the village. Not only did Robert organise our transport to the wedding reception, he himself drove us back and forth from the train station (more so generous given that we arrived and left at varied times). We had a fantastic stay in Robert's modern chapel and would quickly return!

  • A warm welcome to a delightful place to stay. The chalet surpassed expectations - in size and the quality of decor. Beautiful garden and surroundings - plenty of private outside space.

  • "It is what it says on the packet" If you want peace and quiet yet reasonably close to good pubs and local towns and villages this is the place to stay.

    Christine2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Sue's cottage was absolutely ideal to stay in for the weekend. It is clean and quaint and was very private from the main house. It was a few min drive to pubs and shops and had a tv and a few games to entertain us when it rained. Tim was so nice to meet us in the rain to let us in and was very helpful showing us around and recommending places to eat nearby. If we would have stayed longer we would have made use of the BBQ and outdoor space. We would definitely stay here again!

    Sadie2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay here. The setting is very beautiful, and the chalet is comfortable, quiet and well equipped. Tim and Sue were perfect hosts (even though we arrived late), and gave us very helpful directions and some useful recommendations on local attractions and restaurants. We'd stay here again without hesitation if visiting the area.

  • We enjoyed our stay in the beautiful blue cottage! The view of sheep and daffodils from the window was picture perfect Wales. Clean and spacious, as well as warm, the cottage was a quiet cosy retreat in the evenings. I would also highly recommend taking the beautiful scenic Machynlleth Mountain Road. Tim kindly gave us some tips on good pubs in the area too and we enjoyed Sunday lunch at the Penhelig Arms in Aberdovey. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

    Lisa2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • This chalet is a perfect retreat... away from the hustle and bustle of every day life, it is perfectly located in the hills with great access to walks and stunning views. Local villages and towns (all within 15 minutes drive) offer small shops and pubs. Easy access to Aberdovey and Aberystwyth. The chalet itself is extremely cosy with all the essentials you need for a short stay. There is underfloor heating which is fantastic and makes the lodge extremely warm on a cool evening. The hosts Tim & Sue are extremely accommodating, providing information of local places to eat and suggestions for days out. We will definitely be returning. Beautiful chalet in a beautiful area. Definitely worth a trip!!

  • We had a lovely stay at the retreat exactly what we needed. The location was beautiful, the cabin was cosy and warm especially with the log burner going. The bed was very comfortable, having an ensuite and kitchen was great something you don't often see with shepherds huts. It was also perfect for us having the dog in tow as very dog friendly. Sue and Rodger are very welcoming and brilliant hosts.

Cerniog is a recently converted stone barn set in the tranquil Cambrian Mountains of Mid-Wales. We have one large comfortable guest room, looking out over peaceful fields, with en-suite shower room. A river tumbles through the garden. A traditional cooked breakfast using, where possible, locally grown produce, or simple continental style, is included. * New * Creative Breaks - Search Hafan Cerniog. Create a Holiday with a difference. A mix of fun and relaxation to restore your energies.
Cerniog is surrounded by peaceful farmland, away from it all, and a river runs through the wild garden providing a very tranquil setting, along with mature trees and steep hills. Most of the garden is still in the process of being created after all the conversion work and is a perfect haven for wildlife. We have developed an area of garden for growing vegetables, herbs and fruit bushes which give us fresh produce. The barn, probably dating from the late 17 hundreds, nestles 300 metres above sea level and, within a short walk, has wide views over exquisite countryside. We regularly see more unusual wildlife here. We have converted the barn, mostly by ourselves, to be comfortable and energy-efficient with "Eco" Ground Source heating and plenty of insulation to keep us warm. A wood-burner provides any extra winter time warmth.
Cerniog is at the end of a track, through 2 gates (*please leave gates as you find them*), about a mile from the village of Carno. There is no road noise, no street lights to obscure the stars, just animals grazing peacefully in the fields nearby. (We do get some low-flying training jets, which can be a surprise.)
  • Oh what a stunningly beautiful place, surrounded by Nature and the celebration of Nature! The couple who own this beautiful place, Bee and Rog, are delightful, generous and full of care. What else could a gal who needs a rest and recharge ask for? Nothing, I think. If you are like me, and appreciate the Natural world, a good cup of tea and good, meaningful conversation... this is the place for you.

    Melanie2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Bee and Rog are the best hosts I have had with Airbnb! These two are so welcoming and make you feel instantly at home. The room is huge! Easily sleep four people comfortably. If you are looking for an oasis in the countryside, this is the place. There was even a greet pub just at the end of the lane that had the most delicious cheesecake! We will be coming back for sure.

  • We enjoyed out stay here. The directions to the cottage are excellent. Very warm welcome by Bee and Rog. Had a good night sleep and the early breakfast was fantastic. Even got to taste some of their home made wine later that evening very tasty. Would have liked a second glass but had to get up early again the next morning. Great hosts and make us feel at home in their house. Would recommend to stay here. R.

  • Had a lovely time with Rog and Bee. Really great welcome and what a spectacular place. Very warm hosts. Would suggest giving some time to do some walking in the area. Its worth every bit of the drive to get there.

  • Bee and Rog,s place is superb lovely friendly hosts and accommodation was brilliant highly recommended A*

  • Rog and Bee are wonderful people who understand the simple pleasures in life. Spending time with them was a treat; my partner and I felt very welcome into their charming home. They did all they could to ensure we were comfortable and wanted for nothing. The room itself is charmingly and tastefully decorated, with a lovely en suite bathroom. Getting out of bed in the morning was a struggle as it was so comfortable, but the smell of a delicious breakfast being prepared by the happy hosts did the trick. The surrounding area also has some lovely views (with lots of sheep & some horses) and a small waterfall for people to enjoy. Hidden away from noise and stress, this is the perfect peaceful retreat for those needing a breath of fresh air.

    Stacy2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • I would recommend my hosts and my room to anybody. Clear instructions were given on how to find this very remote house; be aware it's very rural and involves getting out of the car to open and close two gates on unlit muddy tracks. Once inside I was welcomed and shown to my room, which was very large with two single beds (which can be pushed together) and a sofa which will pull out if needed. There is a reading area with a couple of chairs, a few books and magazines, and tea and coffee making facilities. The room was warm and both beds had electric blankets. Wireless internet access was freely available. The en suite shower room was large and very clean, having been newly decorated. Towels and toiletries were provided. My privacy was respected, but I was also invited to join my hosts for a glass of home made wine and some cake. I took them up on this and spent a very pleasant couple of hours chatting with them. The following morning my shower was hot and my breakfast ready as arranged. I didn't have much time so opted for a continental breakfast of home made jam on toast, cereal, coffee and a Welsh cake. A cooked breakfast was also offered. I was made to feel very welcome and would happily stay with Bee and Roger again.

    Nick2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • The little cottage converted by Rog and Bee is a hidden gem. With instruction on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map, it is very easy to find, though a more sturdy car may be needed to get through the country road. Having said that, I got a small Ford which works just fine. Rog and Bee are very welcoming, the room is clean and spacious with en-suit bathroom. We had long chats on the evening and in the next day morning, very nice and interesting people. Highly recommend this place. Will be back if travel around the area. Thank you, Rog and Bee!

5 Westagte St has just been completely refurbished to a high standard: a heritage style bathroom suite; quality bed linen and room designs from Next and Debenhams; a modern, light living room with free wifi and a small wildlife garden to realx in at the end of a days exploring. 5 Westagte St is ideally located for those who want to embrace living in a small picturesque market town. The local shops almost make for a storecupboard. A daily shop at the greengrocers, fishmonger, bakers, wholefood shop, butchers and weekly Saturday market can inspire great cooking in our well equiped kitchen. We are situated on two national walking trails: Glyndwrs Way and the Severn Way. The beautiful River Severn is crossed withing two minutes of your short walk into town. Turn out of the town into the wonderful beech woodland of Tan Yr Allt. Perfect for a breath of fresh air, stretching your legs, den building with the kids or walking the dog. We provide maps and guides for a myriad of walks from the doorway of number 5. Within a short drive is the scenic Clywedog Reservoir, perfect for fishing, birdwatching (Red Kites and Osprey). Also nearby is the splendid Elan Valley, Aberystwyth for shopping, Aberdovey for the beach, Welshpool for Castles and gardens. Great little steam railways are north, south, east and west -take your pick! There are two play parks in the town, a swimming pool, squash and gym at the local sports centre, golf, pubs, restaurants, live music and a thriving folk scene to enjoy in Llanidloes. Be aware: the stairs are quite steep as in a period house, parking is roadside (at the front or just round the corner), the opposite side of the street overlooks some industrial heritage! The single room plus one is small. I'm being honest here, I'd hate any guest to be disappointed. Our desire and aim is to provide a base for a perfect holiday and we strive hard to achieve this. "Croeso", we welcome families, couples, friends from the UK and wider world. A warm welcome awaits.....

  • This is a lovely cottage in a great location with easy parking. Spotlessly clean and lots of attention to detail. No hesitation in recommending 5 westgate there is so much to do in the town and surrounding area with lots interesting pubs and friendly locals. Well worth a visit.

  • Firstly, thank you to Lisa. Your advice on places to visit, communication from start to finish and attention to detail is remarkable. Hospitality at its best. The house is amazing. Clean, stylish and feels like home from the moment you walk through the door. Everything has been thought of and the little touches make a big difference (bottle of wine and beer waiting for us, towels provided, toys for the children in the cupboard, WiFi set up). We had a wonderful stay. Visited Powis Castle, devil's bridge, Aberystwyth and Borth beach in the 2 days we were there. I only wish we had stayed longer as there is so much to explore. Thanks again Lisa. You made our first Air Bnb experience memorable and we hope to return to your cottage in the future. Highly recommend.

  • Lisa was a great host and accommodated our needs. We had a good time in the cottage. I particularly liked the different films and books that were on offer- this made our stay very entertaining.

  • This is a lovely, well-equipped place that makes a perfect base for many activities in mid-Wales.

  • Really lovely cottage with everything required for a brilliant stay in Llanidloes. Close to town centre, but very quiet area and lovely views around. We enjoyed the walks in the hills, the wonderful scenery, and trip to the seaside. A fabulous relaxing few days.

    Fred2017-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa was a great host, clear communication and very helpful. There are some really sweet little touches at the house (like good books, maps of the local area a DVD library and some jigsaws for entertaining family on a wet day in Wales!) which made our stay really easy and comfortable. Many thanks Lisa.

Eira’s Den is all kitted out with everything you need for your luxury escape from the everyday stresses of life. Situated in it’s own little secluded field overlooking a gently flowing river to the fields beyond where the sheep quietly graze, the whole site is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay.
  • Brilliant. Such a lovely stay and lovely area. The host was very welcoming and will stay again. Lovely bbq area

    Lisa2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The site was beautifully done and was lovely to see that it was right next to the river as shown in the pictures. The Den was homely and had all the basics that were needed i.e. tea, coffee etc. Beautifully decorated with a real homely feel to it, lovely and warm with a cosy fire. At night the site makes you feel like you are in a world of your own with the lights adding a beautiful ambiance. Table area has everything you need and is clean and tidy.... Perfect area for a BBQ. Would definitely recommend staying here and I will definitely be doing so again :D

  • My friend and I stayed in Eira's Den for a weekend and LOVED it. The Den is cosy and has everything you need! The wood burner in the den keeps you warm and toasty all night long and the little outdoor area is gorgeous. I would come back in a flash. We went for some food and drinks at the local pub and had yummy food and met lovely people!

    Caitlin2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay here, the cabin was set on its own little river,it was nice and secluded but still had a good pub within reach and the owner made it very homely with lots of little touches including lots of fairy lights over the cooking area, which was very romantic at night. Thank you for a great stay.

    Jonathan 2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay at Amber's. We were sad we could only stay one night! We'll definitely be back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Lovely location, cosy accomodation, great facilities. Thank you :)

    Sarah2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The den is a fantastic little spot. We had an amazing time (despite the weather trying to catch us out!), sitting outside under the shelter with the fire pit and fairy lights was just what we needed after a long day in the hills!

    johnathan2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely little place. I booked the Den as an off grid break for my wife's birthday and it didn't disappoint. The stream and views were amazing. Facilities were bang on (cooking pizza in the pizza oven is a must) the outdoor area was lovely. The den was nice and clean and the bed and linen were extremely comfortable and cosy. We arrived later than planned but Ambers partner was there to meet us and show us the ropes. We had issues with the water system which unfortunately we didn't manage to get sorted (had plenty of help from Ambers father in law) we improvised though, what's glamping/camping without a baby wipe wash? Plenty of bottled water was provided to. Would highly recommend this place to anyone. Communication was spot on and we had the best weekend. Thank you again

A Luxury, handbuilt, unique and quirky off grid shepherds hut, with a spring fed wood fired wooden hot tub and rustic ensuite shower and toilet. Set in its own little corner of a wild moorland location in Mid Wales to give couples the chance to Unplug, Unwind and Relax It has a double bed complete with a 1000 spring memory foam mattress, solar powered lights and USB charge point. The kitchen area has a gas BBQ with a side hob, sink and drainer with sink and hot water, and magical views!
Great luxury wild glamping for couples
The area is pretty and secluded, the nearest shop or pub is 5 miles away, the closest neighbours are sheep, which is fitting for a shepherds hut! There is not even a postcode for the site as it is quite remote!
  • This accommodation is simply brilliant. The location is amazing. It's so peaceful. All you can hear is the occasional sheep and birds singing. The bed was super comfy and we loved the small wood burner which created a real cosy feel in the evening. The hot tub was great. It takes approx 3 hours to heat up so you need to be prepared but wow. Just sitting in the tub watching the stars made my mini break perfect. There's some extra touches that are also handy: a phone charger socket, plug in straighteners and hair dryer. There's a compost loo that is easy to use and a shower. There's lots of logs available for use on the hot tub, wood burner and fire pit. Jason and Beth are perfect hosts and we can't wait to return

    Lorraine2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three nights at this wonderful shepherds hut. The enclosed part was spacious and very comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom were also ideal for simple living. You need to be comfortable with the outdoors (and compost loos) to stay here, which we are!! The best part was the location and the wood-fired hot tub, this made the trip for us. It was peaceful, romantic and superb, thank you!!

    Kat2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Can't rate our stay highly enough, the photos really don't do the hut or the scenery justice, and loads of great little touches that make a stay here great. We only stayed for a couple of nights but wished we could stay longer, will definitely consider going back again

    Neil2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jason and Beth have hit the nail on the head with this fantastically secluded spot. The hut is beautifully equipped with everything you could need. Just wish we could have brought the hot tub home with us. Jason and Beth were really easy to communicate and once they set us up in the hut they left us to it, which is just what we were after. Thanks again for such a relaxing stay.

    David2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Magnificent mid week stay in Jason & Beth's beautiful hidden hut in the hills of mid Wales! If you're after seclusion, privacy and glorious views, this is your spot. The spring fed, wood fired hot tub was out of this World, the stars were out, and we saw a shooting star! I've never used a hot tub before, but this felt like pure nature perfection. Had the best nights sleep in a long time, and found some beautiful waterfalls, recommended by Jason. Check in was easy, and the whole trip felt like an adventure from the start, we will be back! Just to mention - the hut does have a solar panel, with a USB charging point and lights, which was another bonus.

    Abi2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The hut was well equipped to provide the perfect balance between home comforts and off grid rural seclusion. Jason was welcoming, friendly and informative, providing us with everything we needed before giving us the space to explore and enjoy the property and area for ourselves. Despite the weather being rather wet, we still made use of the hot tub and managed to spot a few stars before the clouds reappeared. We had a wonderfully relaxing weekend. We've already said we'll be recommending the hut to family! Thanks Jason.

    Claire2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Quite possibly the most romantic and tranquil place we have ever stayed in. We stayed for two nights and lounged around in the hot tub almost the entire time. The tub takes 2 to 3 hours to fully warm up plus you need to make sure you've got a good fire going but it's very much worth it. The stars came out for us and with the candles, the sound of the stream (and wine!) it couldn't have been more romantic. You really are on your own so this is definatley the place to stay to get away from it all. The place is filled full of lovely thoughtful touches, the photos do not do this place justice.

Comfortable single room in my house. Bathroom is shared, and there is an additional toilet downstairs. Use of kitchen. The house is in the centre of town, 2 minutes from shops, pubs and restaurants. The park and river are also 2 minutes walk away. It's a quiet location, car park adjacent.
The house dates from about 1860 and was built for the curate of St. Idloes Church, (which is opposite). It has a couple of nice internal archways, and a big fireplace in what was the room for receiving ecclesiastical (and other), visitors.
Llanidloes has lots to offer visitors. We have pubs, restaurants, cafes, and shops. The Market Hall is one of the oldest in Wales, and the Minerva Centre is worth a visit with it's exhibitions and workshops. From Easter there is a mid week morning tour of the town (free), and woodland and river walks. It's a bit like a city break, but on the edge of the countryside. There's a cinema and theatres in Newtown (20 minute drive). Further afield is Machynlleth and the CAT, Aberdovey with its endless miles of beaches, and Rhayader and the Elan Valley. Lots of people come here for walking, cycling, sailing, birdwatching and other outdoor sports.
  • My partner Daniel stayed with Karen while in the area on a motorbike enduro weekend. Karen was helpful and welcoming and the parking and location was very convenient.

  • Cathy and John have a very interesting place. It is a former Georgian farmhouse renovated impeccably and converted most of the house to a gallery. The bed of the double room is great as well as the bath. They have a very good hearted dog called Rosy. They lend us their maps, provided us with tips, catered a very yummy breakfast (a warm breakfast, home mad toast, fruit, etc). They both are very interesting people to talk to. We had a lovely time!

    Michael2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our overnight stay with Cathy was enchanting - the location and setting are stunning, where in the Welsh countryside one is immersed in a world of art and natural beauty. But most enriching and endearing was the hospitality shown by Cathy, who made sure that our stay was memorable in every way. Cathy has the soul of an artist, the compassion of a teacher, and the heart of the prefect host.

    Robert2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy went out of her way to accommodate my dog and I. The room was lovely, the shower hot and all very clean. Breakfast is a rare treat with delicious cooked food, homemade fruit compote, bread and jams. The gardens are lovely and there are sculptures and art pieces everywhere, inside and out.

    Kathy2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was an unexpected gem of a find. I attended a wedding just up the road from the Arts Centre BnB and enjoyed my stay and exploration of Cathy's home just as much as the wedding itself! Cathy is incredibly friendly and welcoming and a wonderful cook (bread, cakes, delicious full english breakfast etc) and was full of interesting conversation - if only there had been more time to chat! The house is beautiful and, along with the garden, full of wonderful art (including much of the late Stefan Knapps work). The room itself was excellent. I very much hope to go back and spend some more time there! What a wonderful stay in Caersws :-)

  • Barbara and her husband made us feel very welcome and were highly accommodating. Lovely evening spent warming in front of the fire after a wet day of cycling and then a tasty breakfast set us on our way again next morning. Would highly recommend staying here.

  • We only passed by for a fleeting visit, but we were made to feel so welcome! The house is lovely and the bed is so comfortable - best night sleep I've had in a while. I'd definitely recommend staying here!!!

  • Very great stay at Barbara's place! Don't hesitate to sleep there when you visit Wales!

    Romain2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara was extremely accommodating, helping us by letting us arrive a little later than planned as we took some spontaneous detours along the way, enjoying the local scenery. We got a little confused while looking for the property but thankfully Barbara waited for us and we were able to identify the appropriate property. I had mistakenly thought the property was a bungalow (not sure why I thought that!) when in fact it is a beautiful building set over three floor, nestled in the middle of the valley. We were fascinated to discover that we were right at the source of the River Severn and our return journey pretty much followed the Severn back home. In that respect the location and accommodation is perfect for a brief stay away if you're in the Midlands. Upon arrival we were asked to remove our shoes (not a problem) and as we'd had a very active day this was a welcome opportunity to start "switching off". As soon as we walked through to the living room, we were warmed by the very welcome solid fuel fire and greeted by their wonderful cat, Prosper. The accommodation has a very clean and cosy feel to it with fabulous facilities that are perfect if you've had a busy day walking, cycling or generally being active. Barbara and her husband were lovely to talk with and we had some fascinating conversations. Being a bit of an eco geek, I loved talking with Barbara, so I was in my element. The piece de resistance was the breakfast, which was divine, and enjoyed whilst looking out over the valley. Just perfect.

    Kathryn2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming after long cycle, hot bath and comfy bed and they even washed my smelly Lycra. Basic bit clean and welcoming and ideal for cycle route 8.

    Toby2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara has been a great host! The house is beautiful and our room was comfortable, with a view of the beautiful valley. We were cycling across Wales (route 8) and Barbara's house is conveniently located on the trail. Barbara had plenty of tips on the route and the villages we would have encountered on the next days of our trip. In the morning she prepared a very nice breakfast for us, with plenty of options (bread, jams, granola, yogurth, tea and coffee) . Glan-y-nant is a scenic and quiet village, 1.5miles from LLanidloes, which is also nice. We really enjoyed cycling to the town and coming back to our room under a sky full of stars, which we don't get to enjoy in London. Highly recommended!

Susanne and Steve also cooked us a beautiful breakfast with views of the hills and kindly gave us a lift to the wedding and back. It would have been great to see more of Wales as the surroundings were stunning. Many thanks Susanne and Steve!

  • Susanne and Steve's place was wonderful. The bed is the most comfortable we've stayed in thus far in Wales. Everything was lovely and the breakfast was phenomenal. First host we've met that really understands what Vegan is! They gave us loads of useful information and were very helpful. Thank you!

  • Susanne and Steve are wonderful hosts , very welcoming and friendly . We requested a twin room , the beds were very comfortable , tea and coffee facilities in the room and a separate bathroom . The place is so quiet , not a loud sound , so we had a very good rest . Breakfasts were beautiful and Susanne made and extra effort providing us the second morning with curd ( which my husband loves with his toast ) and beautiful honey for me from a local organic farmer`s shop . A big thank you for that !

Carno is also home to the renowned FX Rally School and has stocked trout pools (guests have free access). Travel just under an hour and you can shop in Shrewsbury, visit the beach at Aberystwyth or bimble around Snowdonia.
  • We were looking for a private, remote location and found this to be perfect for us! The tents were lovely and it was great value for money. We put our three daughters aged 18,13 and 11 together in the Otter tent and my husband and I had the tent by this one. We cooked over open fire each which was lovely and enjoyed the covered area. Thanks for having us enjoy your lovely valley!

We have self catering accommodation on the holding in the shape of a stylishly weather boarded static caravan. Here you can experience a break on a rural working small holding but with quick access to all the wonderful countryside of Montgomeryshire & mid Wales. We say caravan will sleep two adults & two children but the two single beds have proved fine for adults. Minimum 2 nights booking. All bed & bath linen provided.
The caravan was originally sited next to our working barn as accommodation for us whilst the original farmhouse was renovated and extended. A concrete hard standing and the barn wall and boards separate the caravan from the barn proper and the caravan was surrounded in weatherboard to give all the onsite buildings a uniform look. Because there is a second roof you don't get the sound of rain on the roof!
The house is part of a group of 3 farmhouses that were built along the springs above the Bradnant stream. The farmhouses are viewable from Tyndrain but quite separate. There are no facilities as such in Newchapel - our nearest town is the lovely Llanidloes. Easy access to the attractions of Llanidloes, listed amongst the five most desirable postcodes in Wales, in a report commissioned by the Royal Mail last year. www.llanidloes.com. Llanidloes is a fantastic little town, lovely people, lovely shops, lovely pubs and lots of history. Glyndwr's way passes close by the holding.
  • Tyndrain is a fantastic spot and place to stay. We have had a fantastic stay and been made to feel extremely welcome by Kristine throughout our stay. The accommodation is extremely well equipped, clean and comfortable...a great place to relax in a beautiful, rural surrounding. The town of Llanidloes is a short drive with some lovely shops and planes to eat. We would love to return in the near future and would highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates the stunning countryside and life on a small holding.

  • We had a wonderful weekend. We arrived to a warm caravan with the fridge stocked and a friendly welcome. Will be coming back for longer next time!

    Emma2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent stay at Tyndrain. Its a fantastic getaway from London. You can fill your lungs with pure fresh air. Kristine and Dominic were extremely helpful. We had fridge filled with supplies needed for us to start our small holiday including fresh eggs and salad from the farm. They made us feel very welcome, showing around the farm which is so green and serene. My kids enjoyed seeing hen, cows and sheep. In fact we had a tyre puncture but Dominic did everything he could helping us. This is not my first visit to Wales, I would surely go back to Tyndrain when I need a break. Thanks Kristine and Dominic for your wonderful hospitality.

    Robin2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Tyndrain is a very beautiful place, and Kristine and Dominic are wonderful, extremely helpful hosts.

  • We had a fantastic stay in Tyndrain. Such a beautiful setting, stunning views, amazingly friendly people and a fantastic little place. We had everything we needed in the caravan and our hosts couldn't have helped us more. It really was such a beautiful holiday. The photos of the location don't do it justice. The attention to detail was spot on. 100% recommend! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • Very friendly and welcoming hosts in a lovely rural location. Great views from the accommodation. The property was very well equipped and comfortable.

    Mark2015-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Kris and Dominic are the most friendly hosts anyone could wish for. Their main goal is to make sure guests have the most enjoyable of experiences, it was almost like staying with family. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing break, in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, then this is definitely the place to stay. I would definitely say it's totally underpriced, so hurry up and book before they realise ;-) I would definitely go back one day, if just to see them again.

A modern self-catering 5-star property set in beautiful surroundings at the peaceful heart of Wales. The 3-bedroom property is situated on the old family farm and commands spectacular views of the Upper Severn (website hidden)
Quiet rural location - access to the lovely town of Llanidloes ~ 5 mins by car.
  • Wow! is the best way to describe our experience of Drainbyrion Farm. The cottage is very spacious and very comfortable and quiet, set in scenic Welsh countryside. Immaculate and spotlessly clean, we would have needed a microscope to find a speck of dust anywhere. Beware that there is no mobile phone signal in the area, but there is a payphone in the house if you're desperate to make a phone call and cannot meet your telecoms needs with the internet WiFi connection (in which case make sure you carry some coins). Margaret and Frank are very friendly and flexible to meet you when you arrive to let you in and give you the keys. The cottage is very homely, and everything seems to flow quite naturally with very few short notices about things to do or not to do to keep things in order. We just loved our stay so much. It was really restful and refreshing. A nice bottle of wine and homemade mince pies for the Christmas season! Thanks so much for letting us stay at Drainbyrion Farm. We had a wonderful time despite the bad weather! We hope to be able to come back for more stays. Have a Happy New Year!

My home is roomy, tidy, bright and comfortable. The house is 19th century, built for the curate of the parish church, St. Idloes, which is opposite. I particularly love my location, just 2 minutes walk from the park and river, and also 2 minutes walk from the shops, cafes and restaurants. The Saturday market has home made bread, cakes and pastries, a jewellery stall and sometimes a few geese and ducks!
This is a quiet part of town, next to the church, park and river. In the other direction you are 2 minutes walk from the cafes, shops and the town centre, including the historic market hall. In the house there is a lounge, kitchen/living room, shared bathroom and downstairs toilet. I also have a garage which has space for a couple of bikes.
Llanidloes has lots to offer visitors. The Market Hall is one of the oldest in Wales, and the Minerva Centre is worth a visit with it's exhibitions and workshops. There are mid week morning tours of the town (free) in summer, and woodland and river walks.
  • Karens room has a lovely light, cool and airy feel to it. It is also very quiet so enabling a great nights sleep in the bed which was extremely comfortable. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend to others.

  • Karen's place was comfy and quiet, just what we needed as we arrived on foot, ate round the corner and left quite quickly the following morning. Description of house as red brick, opposite church behind iron railings, there is another one opposite a different church very similar!
