“The Basilica of Superga has been built by will of Duke Vittorio Amedeo II, because of a vow he made to the “Madonna delle Grazie” in 1706, when the city of Turin was putted under siege by the French-Spanish army. The project of the Basilica is by Filippo Juvarra, architect born in Messina who worked for the Savoia House. The baroque complex, inaugurated in 1731, is 75 meters tall, 51 meters long, and is located at 672 meters above sea level. The interior is enriched by six chapels, four altars and a Main Altar, decorated with sculptures and monuments in Carrara marble. Particularly interesting are the numerous altar’s paintings and the dome, inspired to the roman works by Francesco Borromini. In the Vow Chapel, inside the Basilica, is kept the wooden sculpture of the “Madonna delle Grazie”, in front of which Vittorio Amedeo II kneeled and asked for the grace to defeat the French army.”

“Just 1 minute walking from Flat X and Y. From the top of the stair in front of the entrance of the Church, you will have a great view on Piazza Vittorio with the backdrop of the mountains. According to the legend, the statue on the right of the staircase, is looking in the direction in which the Saint. Graal is buried. ”

“The Cathedral of Turin is dedicated to the Saint Patron of the city: St John. Turin's cathedral was built between 1491 and 1498 on the site of three 14th-century basilicas and, before that, a Roman theatre. The church has a Renaissance style façade made in white marble with three portals decorated with reliefs. In the XVII century, the Cathedral was enlarged and it was added a chapel for the Holy Shroud, a real Baroque masterpiece made by Guarino Guarini. The Chapel hosted for long time the famous relic of the Holy Shroud (alleged to be the burial cloth in which Jesus' body was wrapped after the crucifixion and on which Jesus' body was wrapped after the crucifixion).”

“this abbey is one of the finest examples of Piedmontese Romanesque-Gothic architecture. Its beautiful terracotta and sandstone façade leads into the real jewel of Vezzolano, the splendid jubé (footbridge between the navel and chancel) dating from 1189 and adorned with beautiful polychrome low-reliefs. The elegant cloister contains the remains of 13C-14C frescoes ”
