Landmark
“Tynemouth Castle and Priory on the coast of North East England was once one of the largest fortified areas in England. Overlooking the North Sea and the River Tyne, it dominates the headland. With its 2000 year history and beautiful views it is the perfect location for a family fun day out. A popular spot to enjoy the view and a great location to have a picnic, lie back and enjoy the sea air. Discover Tynemouth's story from its original beginnings as an Iron Age settlement, an Anglo-Saxon monastery, a royal castle and a coastal defence. The gun battery was designed to defend the Tyne in the First and Second World Wars. Don't Miss • The beautiful and tranquil 15th century chapel • The restored gun battery and cannon • The fantastic views overlooking the river Tyne and the North Sea ”

Meal Takeaway
“Our seafood restaurant in the beautiful village of Tynemouth serves Shetland mussels, grilled lobster, shucked oysters, monkfish & prawn curry, roast turbot as well as classic fish and chips. Our menu changes daily and is designed around what's been caught that day by the local fisherman. As well as the seafood restaurant, we have a takeaway serving fish and chips, tiger prawns & seafood burgers with 'LFK' sauce and much more. We don't use beef dripping in our oil, so our fried food is also suitable for vegetarians. My fav? AMAZING Goan fish curry and traditional French Soupe De Poissons.”

“Happy memories at this beach so even though the area has become up market and busy during the past decade i still love the beach. Check out Tynemouth market on saturdays and sundays too! It's in the metro station so easy to get to from Gateshead Interchange or you can take the number 1 coaster from Durham Rd. If you like history then checkout Tynemouth Priory too :)”
