Our 18th century village cottage on the northern edge of the Cotswolds ANOB is a good base for exploring the Cotswolds and Shakespeare country. Tysoe is a peaceful village within 20-30 minutes of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Banbury, Chipping Camden, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and many beautiful Cotswold villages. Compton Verney is nearby and Oxford is under an hour away. Our listing includes breakfast, but if you would prefer room only contact me for a special price.
Our guest accommodation is light, quiet, spacious and separate from the main part of the house, overlooking our peaceful garden. Your own staircase leads to a large room with a private bathroom with shower, and is well furnished, including a comfortable double bed, a futon sofa, a TV with HD and Freeview, WiFi and ample storage. We also provide tea, coffee and fresh milk, plus local guides and maps. Breakfast is in our large country kitchen, warmed by the Aga, or if you prefer, in the garden on sunny days.
Tysoe is a thriving community and local amenities include a well-stocked village shop, a popular tea room, a Post Office/gift shop and a pub, and there are other good places to eat within easy reach. The area is steeped in history and is excellent walking country too if you prefer to abandon your car.

Lovely one bedroom Annexe with own kitchen, sitting room and dining area. French doors lead out to a stunning garden and a tennis court, which guests are welcome to use. We are situated at the end of the village with wonderful countryside views. The renowned village pub, The Peacock, is within a 5 minute stroll and the famous town of Stratford-on-Avon is a 15minute drive, as well as various National Trust sites, the Gaydon Motor Heritage Centre and much more!
The Annexe offers cosy, self-catering accommodation. Whether you plan on visiting the many nearby tourist attractions, or wish to kick-back and relax with perhaps the odd country walk or game of tennis thrown in, you will be made to feel extremely welcome.
  • Particularly beautiful garden... tennis court at the back... you can watch the sun set from the back of the garden where it meets the fields... As a nature lover this is wonderful. The annex itself is a lovely spacious self contained unit with very comfy bed - loved it! Our hosts were warm and friendly people who offered their advice and local knowledge. Very nice village pub nearby. Overall a very pleasant getaway!

  • We really enjoyed staying in this lovely annexe. The accommodation was homely and suited to our needs. The garden is beautiful! We particularly enjoyed exploring Oxhill and our visit to the local pub. There is lots to see and do in the surrounding areas.

  • This was a really great experience. Gemma is super friendly, communicative, and a pleasure to deal with. The Annexe is the kind of place you'd rather not leave. It's beautiful, comfortable and a real sanctuary. 100%recommended

  • The Annexe is located in a beautiful area overlooking a lovely garden & country side. It is comfortable & homely with a full kitchen, separate lounge/dining room. Good quality bed linen and very comfortable bed. Communication was good (although mobile reception poor in the area!) & the hosts very helpful. I'd definitely stay again.

    Vivienne2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is the 2nd time I've stayed at the Annexe & would stay again. It is a comfortable, homely flat and working away from home nice to have a fully equipped kitchen. It is quiet & private & looks onto a lovely garden with tennis court & fields in the distance. Gemma is a friendly & responsive host and a pleasure to deal with. A relatively short drive to all the Warwickshire sites & centres.

My place is close to Stratford upon avon, Oxford, Silverstone, Blenheim Palace and outlet shopping at Bicester village. Close to the beautiful Cotswold villages including Stow on the Wold, and Burford. Easy access to London and Birmingham. Walk the footpaths and enjoy the unspoilt countryside. You’ll love my place because of the peace and quiet found in this valley surrounded by scenic Warwickshire landscapes. My place is good for couples and business travellers - in fact for everyone!
Double bedroom in old English style period farmhouse in the centre of the beautiful warwickshire countryside. Rail links from Banbury to Scotland and London, Birmingham and Brighton. Close to Shakespeare's Stratford upon Avon. Heavenly walks and thirst quenching country pubs.
  • Good location in a beautifull village!

  • Annie's place is a great little place to stay in the cotswolds! Annie was really helpful in giving directions for check-in and was there to welcome us. The place is perfect for 2 or 3 people with a large double bedroom and a downstairs lounge with a sofa bed. The kitchen is really well equipped including sundries. The area is really quiet and beautiful with wonderful walks from the door. Nearby pubs are lovely and Annie suggested a superb place for dinner (the falcon - booking recommended!). A great base for a little walking getaway!!!

    Mark2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous gorgeous cottage with beautiful countryside all around. Annie was a lovely host who thoughtfully provided little extras throughout the house. Thoroughly recommended.

  • We had a great stay! Highly recommended!

  • Annie's annexe is lovely. A really pretty, peaceful getaway in a very picturesque and friendly village. We particularly appreciated the breakfast supplies, including the jams, lemon curd, fresh fruit salad, tea and coffee, etc. I wasn't expecting towels or toiletries so they were a lovely surprise. Annie was very helpful and welcoming and the walk and pub ( the falcon) she recommended were great. I also thought the pub in the village was a perfect spot for a bite and a pint. Gorgeous countryside and a very restful weekend! Thanks again.

    Victoria2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • very pleasant stay. Annie was very welcoming, left some essential supplies for which we were most thankful. the cottage is comfortable, clean, quiet and close enough to good places to eat. especially The Falcon which I would recommend.

  • We had such a lovely time at Annie's annex - it was such a lovely cottage, with beautiful gardens and surrounding areas. The little extras for breakfast like her fresh fruit bowl were a lovely little suprise in the morning! Thank you for making our stay so wonderful Annie!

  • Lovely place! Spacious, light and airy, but also cosy and extremely comfortable. Had everything we needed, and easy access to Stratford upon Avon & Warwick. Great place to chill out and relax. The Artist's Studio is a self contained wing of The Manor House, Sibford Gower a picturesque village on the edge of the Cotswolds. It has it's own private entrance and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, walking trails and quaint pubs. This double height space is light and bright, whilst full of history and charm. The perfect getaway for those who want to escape, or an ideal base from which to explore the Cotswolds, Warwick, Stratford on Avon, Oxford, Bicester Village or Blenheim Palace.
We are in the heart of the village with a choice of walks from the front door, the award winning Wykham Arms pub directly opposite, a village shop for any extras you may need, and a choice of National Trust properties to explore.
  • The Artists Studio is a wonderful little retreat in the country. The Manor House and gardens are beautiful. Alison obviously has a great eye for interiors and the decor and general style of the studio is warm cosy and very tasteful. We were welcomed warmly with delicious home baked cookies and made to feel at home instantly. There is a great pub a stones throw away for really good food and lots of lovely well sign posted country walks around the local area and surrounding villages. I highly recommend a stay here. We would definitely come back. Thanks guys

    Bexy2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Artist's studio. The studio has been recently renovated to a brilliant standard; everything is very well thought through, every need is catered for and it is incredibly comfortable. Alison greeted us on arrival to show us round and we felt she would be available if there was anything we needed. The studio is located very well for sightseeing in the Cotswolds, and the pub over the road is highly recommended.

    holly2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect spot for a few days r&r in the Cotswolds. A very well equipped studio with the perfect mix of cosy yet spacious. Alison was the perfect host, welcoming us with her famous chocolate chip cookies, a warm smile and everything you need to know to make your stay comfortable. We'll be back I'm sure.

    Lyz2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly magical place to stay, i never thought it would be so beautiful! I booked the day before arrival and everything was just so fantastic. The Artist Studio is a perfect place to unwind and get back to nature, the lack of noise other than bird song was just amazing. The pool although a little chilly to jump in this time of year was stunning and i imagine in the summer would be lovely after a long countryside walk. I cant thank you enough for a perfect last min getaway.

    Leanne2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeously decorated country retreat, and Alison is a friendly and helpful host. Look forward to returning when it's warmer so we can use the pool.

    Michael2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • A great find. A lovely secluded and quiet spot. A great gateway to the Cotswolds too.

    Jane2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at The Artists Studio was exceptional from start to finish. Alison was brilliant at prompt communication and spent time explaining the layout to me so that I could better understand how it would be for our child once there. Her husband Mike welcomed us very warmly after we arrived later than hoped from London and the studio itself was very impressive to walk into and felt much larger and airier than the images! Decoration was top notch quality and everything we needed was there including some homemade cookies. Some milk was in the fridge and some bare essentials like salt and pepper in the cupboards - we brought everything ourselves from home so didn't need anything. Kitchen very well equipped, we made a roast lamb and an apple crumble and had everything we needed! Manor grounds were stunning, beautiful gardens to walk through and a lovely pool that was too cold for us to enjoy unfortunately! Our daughter loved watching the rabbits and the two cats in the gardens. We especially loved the excellent country style pub right opposite the manor which had brilliant food, friendly service and nice wines! Our daughter loved Cotswolds Farm Park which was about 40mins away. Overall it was a perfect mini break; warm and friendly hosts; a great place to stay; excellent views and countryside; enough things to do for a few days; great pubs. We plan on returning and recommending!

You will find this remote barn conversion with simple furnishings, offers tranquility, countryside views, wonderful wildlife and a private garden. It's an excellent base for visiting the Cotswolds, Cheltenham, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick or Silverstone. Curl up in front of a wood burner and enjoy a break from technology or step outside the garden onto the bridleway to explore. We welcome all visitors and well behaved dogs who want to venture down our bumpy track and meet our children and geese!
There is a spacious hall area with hanging space for walking and cycling gear. You can enter the house via the kitchen or through the front door into the hallway. The stairs lead up from this hall. The sitting room is cosy with pretty views across the fields. The furnishing is simple but comfortable and there is a TV which you can use to watch DVDs (but there’s no TV reception for terrestrial or satellite TV). The futon sofa unfolds into a bed and you can snuggle down in the glow of the wood burner if you wish. The evening sun shines into the room, making it a great place to relax after a day exploring on foot, by bike or by car. There is a night storage heater and the wood burner for cooler evenings and we provide wood at £3/night. If you aren't sure how to light the fire, we're on hand to help. The kitchen is well equipped with good quality pans and cooking utensils. If there's anything you haven't got, please just ask us. There is a table in the kitchen which unfolds to seat 4. If the Aga is running and you want to give it a go, you'll find an Aga Cookbook in the cupboard and we're very happy to share some tips to get you started. If Aga cooking sounds scary, you can simply use the electric cooker, slow cooker or microwave. (Please don't be disappointed if you find the Aga is not lit during the warmer months. It makes the house too hot and we want you to be as comfortable as possible.) Upstairs, there is a bright and airy bedroom with a comfortable double bed. There is plenty of storage space for your clothes. We love the views up the bridle way from the window. The second bedroom contains our children's train set and they'll be delighted to show you around it! This room has one single bed and a child-sized camp bed but there is limited storage in the room (plenty of space elsewhere though). The bathroom is upstairs. There are steps between the bedroom and the bathroom but we have night lights to help you find your way in the dark. Your garden is fenced with post-and-rail and there is a combination of flower beds, lawn and patio. There is a table and chairs on the patio and a barbecue too. The gravelled area provides plenty of parking for 2 or 3 cars and there is a gate if you need it. You might hear owls at night and see bats flying around when the weather is warmer. Hares, deer, badgers and foxes all pass through the garden and there is a large wild bird population. Although this is a simple property, it is very appealing to people who like to get away and relax in a quiet and natural spot. There is very little light pollution so it's a wonderful place for star gazing. You might also like to contact Chipping Norton Amateur Astronomy Group to get details of their organised events - and we've left a torch in the house for you to use during your stay!
There are lots of places to explore locally on foot, by bike or car. We recommend that you bring wellies or walking boots so you can make the most of your walks. From Mill Holm, you can walk along the bridle way to Whichford where you will find the Straw Kitchen, Whichford Pottery and the Norman Knight pub. If you follow the bridleway in the other direction, you can cross the fields to Brailes where you’ll find The Gate and The George pubs, as well as a butcher, a baker and numerous small shops. Slightly further afield, you can walk, cycle or drive to Hook Norton (with a large village shop, 3 pubs and a brewery), the Cherington Arms at Cherington and the Wykham Arms at Sibford Gower. There are lots more places to eat and drink in the area, including a variety of restaurants and takeaways in Shipston on Stour, Chipping Norton and Banbury. There are several local farm shops and farmers' markets in Deddington, Chipping Norton, Banbury and Kingham too. Shipston on Stour and Chipping Norton have a range of interesting and independent shops. Shipston hosts music proms in the last 2 weeks of June and an annual French market in October. Chipping Norton is home to a Literary Festival (ChipLit) which will run in late September 2017 in conjunction with Yimby Fest. Banbury Museum has a lot to offer if you are interested in local history and canal history. There are theatres in Chipping Norton and Banbury, as well as Oxford, Stratford upon Avon and Warwick Arts Centre. Shipston on Stour has an indoor swimming pool and Chipping Norton and Banbury both have lidos which open during the warmer months. We are on the northern edge of the Cotswolds so there are plenty of beautiful walks and circular routes. We will be pleased to let you know some of our favourites. Whichford Woods is close by and you can pick up the Macmillan Way from there. The nearby Rollright Stones site was created during the Neolithic and Bronze Age. Other places of interest include Batsford Arboretum and Falconry, galleries and antiques in Morton in Marsh, Stow on the Wold and Chipping Norton, Chastleton House, Upton House, Warwick Castle, Silverstone, the British Motor Museum (heritage vehicles) at Gaydon, Coventry Motor Museum, Cheltenham and Leamington Spa and Blenheim Palace. We will be pleased to make recommendations and provide leaflets to help you plan your stay.
  • Kate and Keith were warm, thoughtful and cheerful hosts. The cottage was very clean and cosy and had beautiful views of the surrounding country side. We absolutely loved the lack of phone signal, it was so refreshing and really made us feel present in the now..... rare in this day and age! They brought fresh logs to us for the fire, offered help with the travel cot for my daughter and gave tailored tips and recommendations. This area of the North Cotswolds is really really beautiful and we can't believe was value for money we felt our trip was, considering the beautiful setting and how much we enjoyed it. I plan on returning soon!! Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice authentic countryside break.... I want to go back now!!

  • There are very few times in life that the service / product you receive is far superior to the price you are being asked to pay but our stay with Kate & her wonderful family is definately one of them. The Home cooked biscuits that welcome you just set the tone for a truly memberable experience, if getting away from it all in a wonderful location is what you are looking for then this will not disappoint. Wonderful local walks (to the lovely village pub) & a log burner ready on your return! Attention to detail & cleanliness is first class, Kate, Keith & family should be really proud of their offering. Our only disappointment is that we couldn't stay longer.

    Laurence2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's barn is a wonderful place to stay, and she went out of her way to make our visit simple and relaxing. We had just one night to spend there, but would happily have spent many more. There was a fire laid for our enjoyment and Kate arranged to have a meal from outside available for us. The setting is far off the beaten path, but the reward is a splendid and serene environment. Kate's charming kids welcomed us like friends, and we loved their company. If we'd had longer to stay, the barn would make a great base from which to make day trips around the Cotswolds.

    Dana2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real gem in a really beautiful part of the Cotswolds. So convenient for visits to Chipping Camden, Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water. We squeezed in a visit to the Cotswold Distillery too. Kate and her family made us feel so welcome and even had the wood burner lit for our arrival. The quality of everything was much appreciated, from the heavy bottomed pans to the really comfy beds and bedding. We had a wonderful weekend and will definitely be booking another.

    Sally2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • When can I move in? Honestly the most perfect airbnb ever. Everything was amazing. Very quiet, peaceful and relaxing place. Kate, Keith and their children made us feel so welcome, even better than at home! They had lit a fire for us, the room is really cozy, the bed is so comfortable, place is charming and very well decorated, we had everything we could ever need. We spent some time reading by the fire, with a delicious cup of tea, we walked through the fields in the morning with wild deers and rabbits running past us... I only wish we could have stayed more, I'm definitely coming back. This is the perfect place to take a break from the London life and have a breath of fresh air. Kate and Keith were great hosts, I really recommend!

  • Lovely home in a very cute village and lovely hosts too! Thank you Jane for opening up your home to us and for the early breakfast too! The room is better suited for a single person as the bed is on the smaller side. Having said that, it's a beautiful beautiful house with a nice garden!

  • If you delight in the discovery of little treasures hidden away in the English countryside where beauty in gardens and graceful trees surround houses and families who have dwelt there for generations - then Horton is for you. We were surprised by the picturesque village and loved Jane and Kevin's home which they share with family, friends and 'Airbnb' guests from all over the world. A pleasant bedroom and glam bathroom with a nutritious breakfast greeted us each day as we took off on various day trips. Actually we could have done with extra time just to enjoy the house and garden and to explore the village more, not to mention being able to get to know our hosts more. We recommend Jane and Kevin's Airbnb treasure to anyone wanting to experience the best in English hospitality.

  • had a very lovely stay during an event at Shenington kart circuit. Kevin and Jane were excellent hosts, had barely arrived before i had a cup of tea in my hand. even their cat helped with hosting, keeping me company while we watched some F1 :-)

  • Definitely recommend this stay in the beautiful village of Hornton. Hosts -Jane and Kevin were so friendly and made us tea and home made cake on arrival. These little things make all the difference. Was a really good stay. Thank you to you both.

    Jenny2017-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Jane's house was absolutely perfect. We attended the Fairport Convention Cropredy Festival and Jane's place was the perfect location, in a picturesque village only 6 miles from the event. The house and accommodations were immaculate. Jane and Kevin went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and to get us where we needed to be for the Festival. They were wonderful hosts. Every morning Jane laid out a range of breakfast foods including yogurt, several cereals, croissants, fresh fruit and tea or coffee. It was the ideal AirBnB experience and I highly recommend Jane's house to anyone who wants to experience life in a small English village.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful time at Tysoe Manor. The house and its setting are beautiful and very comfortable and clean. Jessica and Gary are super friendly and made sure everything we needed was taken care of. We had an 18 month old with us and Jessica and Gary went out of their way to make us feel welcome. There was plenty to keep us occupied on site (animals, tennis court, croquet etc) but the location is also ideal to explore the Cotswolds. We drove to nearby Chipping Campden and Broadway at Gary's recommendation. Both were idyllic and not heaving with tourists like some of the other villages. We are already taking about our next visit!

  • A fine English countryside manor. Gary and Jessica were wonderful hosts. The house was built starting in the 1300's and has alot of history and character. The best part for us was the surrounding grounds which included fun activities for the kids like trampoline, badminton, swimming pool and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Also, the property is situated in the middle of a 99 mile walking trail so great for day hikes.

  • With our two children and two dogs we have just enjoyed a wonderful four nights at Mill Cottage. Julia and her family were warm, welcoming and helpful. They somehow managed to give us all the privacy we might want, whilst also making sure we felt at home, including very generously letting children and dogs make good use of their amazing garden (including stream, orchard and meadows... all very beautiful). A lovely hamper when we arrived was very welcome. The cottage itself was pretty, clean, comfortable and warm, and the village and surrounding area was a great place to stay.

  • Lovely place, lovely surroundings :)

    Mark2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Julia's cottage is a fantastic getaway located in a rural part of the cotswolds. We had a great few days, the setting is lovely, with your own stream and local walks on the doorstep. Julia and her partner are very approachable and helpful with good communication. Yet we still had our own space, I would definitely go back!

    Tom2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Mill Cottage. The place was luxurious, clean and cosy! Julia and her husband were extremely hospitable and provided us with everything we needed for our stay. Thank you for a perfect weekend! We hope to return again soon!

  • Mill Cottage is a wonderful apartment in a beautiful location! We had good weather, so it was so nice to be able to walk around the grounds. I highly recommend this place! Julia was great and flexible with the check in time after we had car trouble on our way.

  • Two friends and I had a lovely stay at Mill Cottage, it's a beautifully presented Cottage and perfect us. Lovely surroundings and a very cute and cosy cottage. We loved our stay.

  • Perfect little bolthole to enjoy the Cotswolds, we loved the beautiful grounds and falling asleep to the sound of the stream. The whole weekend was fab and we can't wait to come back - really appreciated the book with the local walks and the lovely hamper we arrived too.

    Hannah2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Mill Cottage was the perfect location to visit the area. The place and our host Julia were simply wonderful! It looked newly renovated with superb decoration and new appliances. The cottage was cozy yet very spacious. Julia provided tourist information and locally produced food which was greatly appreciated. Julia was also very accommodating with a few requests we had. We would go back in a heart beat!

For that quiet getaway in North Oxfordshire, located about 3 miles from Banbury and Junction 11 of the M40, The Barn is located in the picturesque village of Horley. It is within easy distance of Warwick and Stratford Upon Avon as well as being close to Chipping Norton, the gateway to the Cotswolds and about 30 minutes from Silverstone and Oxford. For the business traveller, it is within easy reach of Birmingham Airport as well as Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin and many other businesses.
The Barn was once the village bakehouse and has been sympathetically renovated offering studio type accommodation for up to two persons. All on one level but accessed via a stone staircase, it would not be suitable for wheelchair users. On entering The Barn its uniqueness and charm reveals itself immediately. The lounge area has a woodburning stove for those cosy nights in front of the TV with a bluray player and a selection of films. It has a comfortable leather sofa which converts to a sofabed. Logs are available for a small charge by the owner. A compact galley kitchen has all the appliances you will need, even a USB charging point. The bedroom has a double bed framed by empty wardrobes and reading lamps. It has an en suite shower room with a utility cupboard containing a washer/dryer, ironing board and iron. Off street parking can accommodate one vehicle.
The quaint and atmospheric Red Lion pub in the village has been CAMRA Pub of the Year for the last two years and also has an impressive gin menu. It is supported by the locals and is traditional in that it does not serve food. The village church dates from the High Middle Ages and is an excellent example of a Norman preserved ironstone structure. On weekends in summer the village has an active and traditional cricket club and guests are welcome to spectate. The village is surrounded by numerous stables and farms, so don't be surprised if you're enjoying the patio and horses pass you by. The local woodlands also provide numerous picturesque walks, just ask if you wish for local knowledge of these.
  • A better AirBnB you'd be hard pressed to find in an idyllic setting with every comfort and superb hosts who set our stay up with some lovely organic produce. Horley is a stunning picturesque village beautifully quiet and tucked away enabling a fabulous break from busy every day life. We really cannot recommend this highly enough.

    Amanda2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jen's place was very quaint. It is situated in a small town just North of Banbury making it an ideal location for exploring the Cotswolds and surrounding areas. It is a one bedroom apartment with nicely furnished kitchen and bathroom. We stayed there for 2 weeks whilst my partner and I were working in the area and it suited our needs completely. The only thing to note is there is no Wifi reception within the cottage and we found signal and 4G quite patchy. Overall we would stay there again and loved the quaint little village surrounding.

    Katy2017-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, well appointed place for two, in a pretty village. It is ideally situated to visit many local areas of interest. Although the property is adjacent to the host's home and close to other homes in the village, it was very quiet. Jen was very helpful and made it clear to us that it was 'our home' for the duration of our stay. Jen kindly left tea, coffee and other essentials, for a simple but welcome breakfast. The nearest shops would be Banbury I think, which is approx 3 miles away. There is a pub in the village which we didn't get a chance to see.

    Sheila2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place in a beautiful village. The barn was clean and comfortable with great transport links to Stratford Oxford and Warwick. Jen was helpful and came to introduce herself as soon as we arrived to make sure we where ok and didn't need anything. I'd definitely recommend if you want quaint and comfortable stay.

    Joanne2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • A really fantastic stay, would definitely recommend, and stay again. Very peaceful area and the Barn itself has everything you need - we even cooked both meals there! The interior is relaxing and comfortable and Jen was really friendly and helpful with everything, especially checking in and out times. A beautiful location, perfect for a quiet getaway and only 10 minutes by car from Banbury - which is worth a visit if you haven't been - its both a busy town centre for those who like to mooch around and not far from a canal for those who prefer nature.

    Maria-Angela2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place, great location, wonderful facilities...Jen was a delight. No Wi-Fi but only a few days away away away.

    Phil2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for a fab stay. The Barn was modern, clean and cosy. It has everything you could need for a stay, including really personal touches, such as milk and croissants. We were staying for a wedding at Hadsham Farm and it was the perfect location, within walking distance. We could imagine it would also be a great place to stay if you were going walking in the local area. Jen was a great host and very welcoming and friendly! We would highly recommend the Barn.

    Gary2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Linda is a wonderful experience! Her house is super clean and very, very beautiful. The beds are comfy and the rooms very tastefully furnished. Linda's breakfast is the perfect start into the day: so much choice, and so delicious. Linda and her husband are very kind people, who gave us precious tips regarding things to do and places to go. I highly recommend staying there!!

  • Linda was very accommodating with me having to leave early. breakfast was yummy

    Trevor2017-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent 3 night stay at Linda's place. We loved everything about her home and the facilities provided. Quality, Quality, Quality throughout, and nice touches like providing bottled water and fresh milk in small thermos flask to use in your room say much about her attention to detail. Breakfast in the conservatory watching the birdlife in the garden was a delight, so relaxing. I cannot recall writing a Hotel/accomodation review that didnt provide some criticism or suggestion for improvement, but I am at a loss to draw on any negatives. Great stay.

    Robert2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was a lovely host, felt very welcome in her home and she looked after me very well whilst giving me space because I was exhausted! Will definitely return if I need accommodation in that area.

  • We have just returned from a short break away visiting family and stayed at the lovely Lockwood House. Linda was a wonderful host, from the moment of arrival to our departure. The house was excellently presented with everything we required for myself, husband and two young children. We would definitely stay again, and we wish to thank them for their hospitality.

    Angela2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Linda is a really lovely host and offers exceptional value for a very nicely decorated and comfortable bedroom and private bathroom. All the arrangements were very efficiently handled and Linda got up very early to provide me with a very nutritious breakfast!

  • As a family group we booked the two double rooms at Annie and Mike's farmhouse. The surroundings were stunning, the rooms themselves calm and welcoming, with a warm personal welcome from our hosts, without being intrusive. It felt more like staying with friends than at a B & B. Annie offered a choice of cooked breakfast or simply cereal and toast. Ground coffee was on hand ready-made to help ourselves, with a generous bowl of fruit salad and nuts. My particular diet needs were also catered for. A brilliant stay, within a half hour of Stratford-on-Avon, and an hour from Oxford. My thanks to them both.

    Lisa2013-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Annie thank you so much for accommodating us. We could not have had better hosts or accommodation. Our initial contact with you and your great directions to your lovely village and house made our visit and stay with you a total pleasure. Your warm, friendly, accommodating and very helpful hosting enabled us to relax and enjoy your immaculate but extremely attractive character house. Thank you very much for letting us have free access to your home. Our large very peaceful, comfortable, pristine, attractive bedroom with an extremely comfortable bed was a pleasure to stay in. Plus your lovely, smart, modern spacious spotless bathroom complete with more than enough hot water for a very big relaxing bath and soft fluffy towels was so relaxing and enjoyable to use. In the morning you and your family provide a perfectly cooked, generous, breakfast just as we requested of grilled tomatoes bacon, sausages and poached eggs that any top chef would have been proud of. Plus we were served fresh blueberries and strawberries with very tasty cereal choices, fresh orange juice, tea, delicious fresh coffee toast and conserves plus a copy of the Sunday Times!!! So we had a delicious breakfast in your lovely private peaceful garden. To top it off you and your family were brilliant hosts and it was so interesting and enjoyable chatting to you when we arrived and after out breakfast. You all made us feel so welcome and at home and it was so interesting talking to you all. We would defiantly like to stay with you again and just hope you have some free spaces as I expect you will be fully booked. Thank you for all your great hospitality we could not have had a better time. We have and will be recommending you, with our hesitation, to all our friends and family. Many thanks and bests wishes to you Annie and your great family.

  • Annie was very welcoming, made us a delicious, huge breakfast, gave us lots of tips of places to see. The house was charming and comfortable and we had a lot of space. Didn't feel on top of the family, which was lovely. Nice to get off the beaten track. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

    Braj2015-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay set in some gorgeous surroundings. Annie and her Husband couldn't have done more to look after us and make us feel welcome. We strongly recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to the area.

  • Annie and Mike are wonderful hosts. Already at the first contact we felt us welcome, from the beginning we felt us at home. To give such a feeling is hospitality as its best. We had both very nice, interesting and open-minded chats as also our quiet moments. Annie and Mike were very helpful, The pubs Annie recommended and booked for us were interesting and had good food and drinks, the travel advices Mike gave were excellent. The real English breakfast was great. The rooms in the attic of the listed farmhouse with its interesting history are really wonderful. Within a stone's throw from Hornton, a nice small village, are Stratford upon Avon, Oxford, Blenheim Palace, many lovely villages in the Cotswold ..... I highly recommend Annie's and Mike's house for a stay, it will be a very nice experience.

  • We were welcomed by very generous people who really made us feel at home. Room is great with a spacious bathroom. Very good breakfast. Lovely quiet garden. We received lots of information about what to do in the area. The village is quiet, and a great base to make visits to the Cotswolds, Oxford, Stratford-uA, Warwick castle, etc.

  • We really enjoyed our stay with Annie - such a warm and thoughtful host! It was a such a shame that we could not stay longer and enjoy more of her company and hospitality. • Jackie was so helpful and friendly - Geoff showed us around the cottage when we arrived, and they topped up the logs twice in just a 4 night stay, so we could have a cosy fire each night. There were croissants, milk and cereal waiting for us when we arrived, as well as stacks of helpful leaflets. It was a perfect, cosy getaway in a lovely part of the world.

  • Holy cottage was perfect for our 3-week stay. Comfortable and stylish, with all amenities we needed despite the small space. Perfect for a couple! Excellent wireless internet and cable tv, great shower and well equipped kitchen. We loved the small, secluded patio upstairs! Jackie and Geoff were excellent hosts. Very communicative during the booking and flexible with check in and out times. They were incredibly kind, generous and discreet, even when living next door. They made us feel really at home and gave us tips for the area, which is absolutely gorgeous. And they run a village pub that opens for delicious Sunday lunch, with amazing views over the countryside! We had a great time and would certainly return given the chance; thanks so much Jackie!

Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The location is lovely and absolutely perfect if you're looking for some peace and quiet - I would most definitely recommend !! And we will most definitely be paying a return visit!

    Dave2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks both for a lovely bank holiday weekend. Charming little place with everything you could want or need. We didn't leave the local village once and enjoyed quite a few different walks in the area. A few fields do have livestock in so would do some research beforehand if you are bringing a dog.

    Shao-Chun2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were very friendly and gave us space and privacy. The place was however very dirty in places and the facilities are in poor state. The fact that pets have clearly had free reign including on beds and furniture needs to be made clear. We would have simply left and gone elsewhere had there been an easy alternative. As it was we were just glad to leave and would not recommend unless your attitude to pets and dirt is more relaxed than ours.

    Paul2016-09-03T00:00:00Z

  • We had a lovely weekend at Jackie & Geoff's place. The cabin was bigger than we'd thought it would be, very light and airy. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. We ate out at the local pub, which was only 10 minutes walk away, and there was a torch in the cabin to help with navigation - there aren't any street lights! We had a lovely breakfast cooked for us in the morning which we were able to eat outside in the sunshine. Overall we'd love to go back!

  • We had a lovely stay at Cherry Tree! Beautiful hut finished with all your home comforts and stays nice and cosy with the fireplace on. Looks out to lovely views and is peacefully quiet. We had a delicious big English breakfast that set us up for the day and the hosts are friendly and helpful. We went to the local pub (a 10 minute walk away), The Wykeam arms, which served a great pub dinner. Only a 20 minute drive away from all the Cotswolds greats. I would definitely recommend here and look forward to returning in the future!

  • Very clean place, very comfortable. We really only used it for breakfast & sleeping because we were out & about alot, but it suited us perfectly. The village fish & chip shop is recommended, & there's a shop just round the corner, plus 2 pubs. A great place to stay.

  • The Manor Lodge was the last ten days of our three month exploration of the UK and was exactly what we needed! The flat is roomy enough for myself, an energetic 4yr old and my mum. Beautifully decorated, it has everything you need to stay comfortably, from comfy beds and extra bathroom, to washing machine/dryer and dishwasher. We enjoyed sitting in the sun in our patio area for breakfast, wandering into town (literally a minute walk) for groceries, or walking to the local farm to pick our own fruit/veges. The host family were all lovely and very accomodating, it really felt like a home-away-from-home. One of my son's favourite spots from our whole trip! Thanks again Debbie, Callum and Gyp :)

  • We had a lovely time in the beautiful village of Kinston. Debbie was a very attentive host and happy to answer any questions. Check-in/out was straightforward and we had no problems during our stay. The house was immaculate and very pleasantly decorated. We would be happy to stay here again.

Architect-renovated 17th century house with great entertaining spaces and secluded bedrooms at the heart of a peaceful Cotswold village. Private rear garden with two seating/eating areas, gas barbecue, and hot tub. Shenington is a traditional Cotswold village with a 14th century church and excellent friendly gastro-pub and sits at the confluence of a number of great walking paths and within easy reach of Stratford-upon-Avon.
We've carefully renovated this beautiful house to preserve its original character - beautiful stone floors, open fire and traditional solid oak kitchen, but also brand new bathrooms and top of the range utilities - including super-fast broadband and pressurised hot water. Bedrooms are on the top floor, peaceful and well away from the entertaining spaces, with exposed loft beams and views over the garden and village green. The house has a double-sized sitting room with open fireplace, a beautiful conservatory dining room connecting into the large, open plan and well-equipped kitchen with range stove and dishwasher. The house has two full bathrooms (one ensuite) and a separate downstairs cloakroom, boot room and utility room with washer and drier.
Shenington is a picture-perfect Cotswold village, but well away from the coach tours that dog some of its more famous neighbours. Life centres around the village green, church, school and pub, all of which are a short walk away. The pub serves great local and guest beers and some of the best food for miles around.
  • Very beautiful house, well appointed and everything was comfortable. Our hosts made sure we had a lovely stay.

    Oskar2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful location. Had a great weekend. Perfect house for 6 and v well equipped kitchen. Jacquzzi great. Easy and clear communications would love to return. Bonus was village fete and dancing until midnight on the green and perfect weather! A 40th uni catch up to remember!

  • We had a wonderful stay in Knapp House and will definitely consider returning. Prior to our arrival Etienne sent an information pack containing useful information and clear instructions on how to get there, near by amenities and thoughtful suggestions. The house itself is beautiful and the kitchen is especially well kitted out! We had a slight issue when we ran out of gas however Etienne went out of his way to ensure more gas bottles were delivered to us, despite him not being in the area. The communication was excellent. Would recommend.

    Jessica2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Etienne's house is set in the rural countryside, quintessential England. We had great contact with Etienne leading up to the holiday. We were three couples, two babies and a dog and there was plenty of room for us all. Lots to do in the surrounding area and if you just want to chill the house is well equipped with a great kitchen for anyone who cooks! We'd recommend the house if you're looking to get away from the hustle of city life for a weekend in the English countryside.

    Sam & Alex2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous stay in Etienne's house. Much larger than expected; gorgeous kitchen, lovely bedrooms, great hot tub!

    Laura2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a thoroughly enjoyable two night stay. The house was clean and very spacious with everything that you could need. The local pub is just a short walk away and we had a great meal there on our first night with some good local beers. Excellent communication with Etienne in the lead up to our stay. Overall extremely satisfied with our choice of accommodation for the weekend!

    Thomas2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place, stunning location near the Pub. Extremely well equipped kitchen (including KitchenAid! ) and a massive kitchen table to socialise and soak up the atmosphere! We were mainly in the hot tub! Thanks Etienne..

    Sarah2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay here. The house is lovely and has everything you need. Really appreciated being able to bring a dog and there are some great walks nearby. Loved the hot tub and the dining room table is stocked with games to keep you entertained (and is a great spot to chat and relax!). The village is picture perfect and a lovely place to spend some time. Etienne is a great host, good communication and advice and clear instructions once you're there on how things work. We would definitely return!

Situated in small rural village 12 miles from Stratford upon Avon, ideal for sight seeing, country walks or just relaxing. Large private apartment on two levels (within detached house), consisting of a ground floor double bedroom and shower room; and an upstairs single bedroom, small lounge/breakfast area and bathroom. Microwave and refreshment facilities. The village has two pubs which do meals. Also the nearby town of Shipston has several pubs and restaurants.
Indoor and outdoor games are available for use.
Safe private one third of an acre location on edge of small village overlooking open countryside.
  • Peter has a lovely house set in a large and very attractive garden. He was very welcoming and helpful and we enjoyed staying for two nights in the large apartment with two bedrooms, which was ample for the three of us. The village is very attractive with an ancient church and good pub with a choice of ales and good food.

    Priscilla2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Peter's cottage is in a beautiful part of the Cotswolds. The accommodation within the cottage is simple and self-contained, with all basics provided plus a few additional touches including breakfast items and Ordnance Survey maps. There is also access to the beautifully maintained garden which is a lovely place to sit and have breakfast. Note, there is a microwave but no other cooking facilities. Nearby there are plenty of walks and the villages are very picturesque, plus there are a couple of pubs which do excellent food - the George Inn (lunch and dinner served) and the Gate (dinner only). It's also a short drive from Stratford upon Avon. In short - an excellent base from which to explore what the region has to offer. Peter himself was very friendly and flexible. I would recommend his place for a short stay in a lovely part of the Cotswolds.

  • Peter's place is very accurate in how he describes it. The place is very nice, clean, and comfortable. The scenery around the house is beautiful and has several excellent walking trails surrounding the area which I thouroully enjoyed. If you looking for a nice place in the countryside then I recommend this place. Peter was also a great and friendly host!

  • We had a wonderful weekend in this perfect and quiet spot. The accommodation was spotless and extremely comfortable. Lots of info about local attractions available. Very genial hosts. I would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone

  • A fantastic stay in a very homely annex. The host made us feel extremely welcome and couldn't do more. My 3 year old was very sad to go and thoroughly enjoyed playing with the dogs and toys. I will definitely be coming back again!! Thank you so much.

    Elaine2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Judy is a wonderful host. She made us feel welcomed and at home. The annexe is immersed in the green and the surrounding silence helps to relax.

    Mahasti2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • I spent 7 nights here and it was lovely. The annexe was comfortable and clean and the gardens were so pretty. I would highly recommend Judy's place to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing get away.

    Karen2016-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to find a peaceful haven to retreat to after a long days sightseeing then this is the place for you. With comfy sofa and even more comfortable bed it was lovely to unwind after a full day out. The kitchen had everything you needed to prepare an evening meal and the views into the garden maintained that relaxed atmosphere and made you feel you were alone in the garden. The shortcut to the pub given by our host was another bonus. There is nothing much more in the village but we were pretty self sufficient anyway and not in need of any supplies which might have involved a car journey. The place suited our needs after a long day at Countryside Live at Woodstock and I am sure would do the same for others visiting the area.

  • Edward and Hester are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome in their charming farmhouse home. The house is stunning - very isolated with sweeping views, a real hidden gem. Inside it is cosy and warm with open fires and a very traditional, British feel. Our bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We were welcomed with tea and homemade cakes, and all the food was fabulous. As we had small children, we opted for a home-cooked meal at the farm house after they were in bed and it was delicious. Hester is a fabulous cook and we had the use of a private dining room so it felt like a real 5 star experience! I could not recommend this place more highly.

  • We loved our time in the Cotswolds. The house is on a beautiful property. Edward, Hester & the whole family were extremely welcoming & helpful. They gave us great advice for dinner & helped us to book it. We wished we could have stayed longer. Our daughter loved her cubby house room, which was delightful. It was a real treat for her with the animals also.

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Situated in a conservation area on the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire border, our stylish family home offers sophisticated, peaceful, village accommodation for six to eight guests, with easy access to Stratford-upon-Avon, the Cotswolds, Banbury and London.
We offer a rural setting in an extended Hornton stone family house and the deafening sound of silence. The detached, centrally-heated house with garden provides very spacious living. We are making our family home available to a group of no more than eight, meaning you will have plenty of space. Our hillside position offers stunning countryside views in winter and privacy via the trees, with decking and a BBQ, for outdoor living in summer. As the house is built into a hill, the accommodation is spread over five levels. Due to small flights of stairs everywhere, including down to the kitchen, lounge and dining room, it is not suitable for disabled people or those who struggle with steps. The bedrooms are on three levels: Top level: master bedroom suite - super king-size bed. The suite is three rooms in total including en-suite bathroom with shower and bath and private dressing room. Middle level - two further bedrooms. One with double bed and one with single bed, with second single bed pulling out from underneath if required. Bedroom 4 is really only suitable for one or two children. A family bathroom with large shower is on this floor. Lower (ground) level - guest bedroom with super king size bed and orthopaedic mattress that everyone raves about! A toilet with electric shower is also on this floor.
If you want a piece of picture postcard England, rolling hills and country lanes, then you've come to the right place. There are lots of public footpaths and bridleways locally and plenty of pubs within a 10 mile radius serving the local Hook Norton beer and delicious meals. We particularly recommend The Bell in Shenington (10 minute walk) where you will get a very warm welcome and fantastic food. The only anti-social behaviour you're likely to encounter is the wood pigeons. We are on the edge of the Upton Estate and the National Trust's Upton House.
  • We had a family Christmas at this wonderful house. Everything went really well, great countryside location, fabulous modern family home.

Kineton is a friendly village with an excellent Indian restaurant just round the corner, and good pubs a short drive away. Our road is very quiet, you are more likely to hear birds than cars! There is a nearby riverside walk to the ancient remains of King John's castle.
  • Linda welcomed us with homemade flapjacks and tea in her beautiful garden, despite our booking at very short notice and arriving earlier than expected. She was thoughtful and easy to talk to and great with my four year old daughter. The house is a homely and elegant place to stay in a peaceful village with a great flower shop.
