My place is located close to the riverfront ghats on the Ganges, my tenement is an extension of the family house and ideal for tourists and travellers looking to let out for a long stay for a cultural exchange experience along with their ongoing travails of the landscape sights. It is located in the heart of Kashi city, very nearby to the very famed Kashi Vishwanath Temple. While all daily groceries and supplies are easily available and the local bazaar is a stone's throw away, the house is centrally located from the nearest railway station and bus terminus. Ideally conceptualised in the spiritual abode of India and the heart of Hindu culture, Kashi, the tenement is ideal for foreign tourists who wish to explore the famed mystical experience of the Indian culture and how it is built around the values of Hinduism, along with a chance to stay in the midst of an Indian family and be a part of everyday life constructed around Hindu values. Varanasi itself is the oldest documented city and seat of civillization. Amazingly baptized The Temple Town, this quaint city flourished along the banks of the Ganges and houses as many as 72,000 Hindu shrines dedicated to various deities some dating back as early as 50 BC. Interested candidates can not only opt to explore the various nook and corners of this time locked town and its various traditions and rites at their own sweet time while they stay at our tenement. Also situated at a distance of mere 14 kmsfrom Varanasi, is a place called Sarnath where Lord Buddha is said to have delivered his first sermon after gaining enlightenment and his of high historical importance.
Brilliant and civil Indian Hindu neighbourhood, setup more than a century ago along the banks of the adjoining Ganges and that has been modified over the course of time. Many Many temples in and around teh surrounding the immediate vicinity of the house as well.
  • The place was great and Avik wasn't around but made sure everything was available to me and advised me in certain explorations of he city. It is a little hidden in the narrow alleyways of Varanasi, which I think was fantastic. Good value for money. Very close to Assi Ghat where it is perfect to start your walks along the shore towards main gate and so on. Thank you for the stay.

    Jevgeni & Amanda2017-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Never meet Avik but his family was very kind and welcoming. Not that close to assi ghat about a 30 min walk. No cold water in the showers but that's from the heat of Varanasi, no air conditioning but the fan works if you but water in it every few hours.

  • Wonderful experience at the yoga house. Practicing yoga in the open air practice spaces overlooking the Ganges was one of the highlights of our entire trip to India, and the staff was very kind and helpful. Highly recommended!

  • Our stay at the Yoga house in Varanasi was absolutely marvellous. You can see the sun rise straight from the balcony every morning it's such an energising way to start the day. Our room was beautiful and clean, simple but so effective. We stayed in "Shiva" and it had a ceiling fan and also A/C which was really nice even for just a few minutes when it was really hot out. The staff were great, really friendly and super accomodating. It's also bright blue so really easy to find when coming back from the other ghats haha. The food was also amazing and we ate there almost everyday. All in all a very positive first Airbnb experience, would recommend to anyone travelling to Varanasi and I will be back too. Thank you Achal and team :)

  • The Yoga House is a great community living space but it's also so private. It's located at a peaceful spot just beside the main Ghats. Rooms are simple, clean, and worth the reasonable rates. The electricity did go off a few times but it was manageable. The best part of the stay is the vegetarian, home-cooked meals. So healthy! And the caretakers were incredible! Definitely coming back here, next time we're in Banaras.

    Shubhra2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Yoga House is so perfect!! It is in the perfect location, walking distance to Assi Ghat. Is by the river, so you are always watching the peaceful river. The best of Yoga House is Habib. He is the sweetest, always ready to serve and help. He cooks really good, we really felt at home and safe. The place is super clean and beautiful, and when you get overwhelmed it is the perfect heaven to go and relax. Super recommended!

    Manuela2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Yogahouse is a wonderful house giving you an absolute stunning view of the river Ganges. The great thing about the place is its location which is next to the most happening ghat of Varanasi - Assi Ghat. Habib, the care taker is a great person at heart, very helpful and informative. When you're in the holy heart of India - Varanasi, do stay at the yogahouse for a sublime experience. Tips - Try to book the property at least a month in advance because the rooms get full very quickly. Happy Banarasing!!!!

  • We loved staying at the Purple Lotus. Caterina was a great host. She arranged things for us last minute as we did not like our guest house at the time and needed to move. We were able to move to her place within 12 hours of making the initial connection. Santosh, the manager, was very helpful, even arranging a car for our trip to the airport. We highly recommend staying at Caterina's place!

    Rob2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay with Santosh at Purple Lotus. Santosh was a great host- he was very welcoming and friendly and took time to tell us about the city and even took us to his temple with him and showed us some hidden treasures along the ghats. The purple lotus is in a great location close to Asi Ghat and the room and terrace were great. Thanks very much Santosh and the purple lotus team :-)

  • Purple Lotus Guest House is located at the end of Assi Ghat. An enjoyable 1km walk to cafes and shops and the start of the ghats (stairs overlooking the Ganga). As Caterina promised, the bedroom and bathroom was spotlessly clean - the best I've experienced during my 1-year time in India! Towels, linen and soap provided. A delicious breakfast of omelette, toast, banana and jam as well as tea. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay!

The three-window-room overlooks Ganga ji & the 16th century Alamgir Mosque. The house is located at the Panchganga Ghat in the heart of the oldest region of Varanasi (Kashi). Most famous streets, markets (Thateri Bazar for foods), temples (Kal Bhairav) are in the vicinity. No hotels/tourist shops are in this area, but everything that Varanasi can offer. You have access to a kitchen & a terrace from where you can enjoy stunning views of the city.
You will find that the neighbourhood is serene and silent, except for the daily ritual sounds that reach the room from the temples and mosque nearby. There are no guest houses/hostels/hotels/souvenir shops/restarurants that serve international cuisine in this area. But you will find everything that Banaras can offer: especially in its most famous market Thateri Bazaar, which is only a short walk from the house. Only a few steps away is Panchganga Ghat, one of the most beautiful and peaceful ghats in Varanasi, where the mystic poet Kabir Das spent time learning from Ramanandacharya of Sri Math. Panchganga ghat is only a 10 minute walk from Manikarnika Ghat and about 20 minutes from Dasashwamedh Ghat. Next to the house, we have important and famous temples and mosque: Kal Bhairav Temple, Telang Swami, Bindhu Madhav and Alamgir Mosque (16th century). One can either reach the house coming from the Panchganga Ghat. You can easily reach Panchganga Ghat from the Dasashwamedh Ghat (Main Ghat) by boat or by walk (20 minutes). Then climb the steps to reach the Alamgir Mosque, our house is right beside the mosque. One can also take a rickshaw from the railway station to Gol Ghar in Maidagin. Once you reach Gol Ghar, enter the narrow street, there will be always a sign that says 'Gokarn Math' keep following that, until you reach the Alamgir mosque. You can easily ask anyone for Panchganga Ghat and they will guide you. It is about a 10 minute walk from Gol Ghar. And you will have to walk!
The neighbourhood is called Pakka Mahaul, that literally translates to ripe ambience. It is the oldest regions of Varanasi. The region including the ghats, is comparatively very quiet compared to other areas in Varanasi. The house is very close to Thateri Bazaar, one of the most famous markets famous for the best sweets, snacks, perfumes, costumes and groceries.
  • Great location on the ghat with ganga view from the room. manikarnika and dashashwamegh ghats are just a few mins away by walk. Also kalbhairav temple and bindu madhav are so close by! its a great stay for spiritual seekers and even for tourists alike. Recommended place !

  • Fantastic. Could not have asked for a better room, a better (or more serene) neighborhood, or a better family. Located on Panchganga ghat, the home is in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood just a short descent from Ganga, and close walking distance to the burning ghat, the "main ghat" where the nightly aartis are held, and the central market. The room is comfortable and conducive to blissful sleep and meditation. Wifi is stellar too. The real joy is Rajat, Animesh & Ganga, their mother (my Indian mother!) Sunida, their beautiful newborn, Adi their nephew, and the rest of the family who will take you in as one of their own. My favorite place so far in India thanks to these special people. I hope to return over and over again.

    Anthony2017-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is in the middle of Varanasi & just very close to the ghats. Also close to the historic mosque. The nearby lanes are great & shows true colors of Varanasi. Talking about the place... This place is a typical old school house & that's what we were looking for... The people in the house were great & we enjoyed good hospitality. It was a great experience.

    Praabodh2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • It's a nice place to stay and explore the Ghats of Kashi! People are very friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed their hospitality and friendly nature.

    Kartikey2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • I really loved the central location which definitely gave that unique and authentic experience we seek in our travels. One of the oldest parts of Varanasi that you will enjoy getting lost in its labyrinth of historic lanes.

    Kevin2017-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was my favorite place in Varanasi. A beautiful, calm area to return to after exploring. Away from the crowds and tourists, the people in the neighborhood were warm and genuine. The room at Rajat's place overlooks the Alamgir Mosque, built in the 1600s on top of the ruins of a Hindu temple. Natural light, good wifi, no frills, no AC. There was a nice breeze that cooled the room and I found it a pleasant place to read. The family was wonderful and welcoming. I highly recommend Rajat's place for those who are looking for an authentic Varanasi experience.

    Andrew2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rajat was a friendly and communicative host when we first started the conversation but he got very upset when - for different reasons - I had to cancel part of the reservation despite his flexible reservation policy. Also, cash was collected for the room when it was already paid for via the AirBnB system.

    Martina2017-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The place gives you an extraordinary Varanasi experience, the view from the window as soon as you wake up will definitely kick start your day with peace within. Just make sure to carry some back up food and water bottles, as to preferred food might not be available within reachable distance. People in the house were sweet and made sure I was doing ok. P.S: Not recommended for summer stay.

  • This is an amazing homestay, everything was seamless, right from giving directions to our auto-rickshaw about the location (available on the description of the homestay) to getting advice on what to see and where to eat in clean and good restaurants. Santhosh was an amazing guide to us, and I definitely recommend him to future travellers. Also he speaks Italian! :)

  • I have been in India for over a month. The Purple Lotus is, hands down, the very best place I stayed here. The host, Santosh, is very warm, friendly, and inclusive. I am traveling as a single woman and felt completely safe and comfortable on all levels. My privacy was respected, and Santosh was also very available to help me become familiar with town and customs, as I inquired. He taught me how to celebrate my forst Holi! Also, I became sick while staying there after eating in town, and he provided breakfast foods that I was able to keep down, and also surprised me with electrolyte powder to mix in water that helped me feel better. The Purple Lotus is very clean and fresh, has good lighting, and is on a quiet road that is only a 10 minute walk to the Assi Ghat. I could go on and on with the good experiences I had at the Purple Lotus and with Santosh and his staff this week. It is definitely worth the stay, and I will always recommend this accommodation to any friend visiting Varanasi.

    Courtney2017-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Santos was a really friendly and helpful host. But his english is very difficult to understand. The room was clean but inside it was really hot (no AC). So we couldn't slept well! He has a nice terrace for chill out and for having a chai.

  • We loved our 2 week stay at the Purple Lotus Home Stay. A perfect base for exploring Varanasi, it is close to the sights with a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The shared roof terrace and balcony are lovely and our room was clean, bright, airy and very comfortable. Santosh was a super host - very welcoming, helpful and full of great tips and information on how to make the most of our stay. We would definitely recommend a visit to the Purple Lotus!

  • Warm welcoming host Reeta provides a most comfortable abode in a charming home conveniently located away from the hustle and bustle of the ghats and yet accessible to the city of Varanasi and its location on the banks of the holy river Ganga is unbeatable for beautiful sunrise views and accessibility for a dip in the holy water if one were so inclined. For us the best part of our stay at The Lime Villa had to be the warm, considerate, yet unobtrusive hospitality of the host and the delectable cuisine offered from her kitchen. I can never forget how Reeta was up at the crack of dawn to make sure our transportation to the city would arrive on time. Now that is called hospitality and she always magically anticipated our needs and she did this unobtrusively! I can highly recommend this place for anyone looking to be in Varanasi.

    Neerja2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very peaceful place, not too far from BHU. The rooms have a pleasant decor and a view of the ganges. The food is really very nice; reminded me much of my mother's cooking. Reeta was always very responsive and approachable. It's a little outside the city, which means that it is very peaceful, but also that you need to travel to get to the tourist spots. Share autos from Lanka gate of BHU come right up to the homestay at Rs. 10 per head (packed with 10 people per auto). You can also rent an entire auto for Rs. 50. We also found a nice walking route from the western gate of BHU via the Ravidas temple (it's about 5km). We had a bad case of demonetisation blues (no cash), but Reeta was happy to accept electronic payments for the food.

    Amritanshu2016-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • A home atmosphere that is away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. A nice retreat with beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the Ganges River. Great hospitality and good food served with love. We will return in the future and look forward to sharing and spending time with our new family at Lime-Villa.

    Lynn2017-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Reeta was such a gracious and lovely host. She arranged a taxi for us to be picked up at the airport. She and her helper cooked us the best food we had throughout our entire India journey...simply decadent! The space was perfect to relax just outside of town. She even took the time to show us around a bit and make sure we had some local treats which made our trip complete. I have already recommended Reeta to fellow travelers and will certainly advise any friends to stay with her. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer!!!

    Kaylee2017-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nice host, wonderful location, friendly staff, delicious home cooked food. Overall it was a memorable stay. 100 % recommended.

    Amit2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We liked the ease of access, the co-ordination and most of all the location by the cleaner and quieter part of the Ganga, away from the hustle and bustle. Very friendly hosts, I may add, with honesty and grace. We shall return.

  • We had a good time during our stay at Lime Villa. They picked us from the airport and also served us delicious home cooked meals. We could not meet Reeta but her husband took very good care of us and also Sandra helped in making our stay very comfortable. In total was very happy with my stay there.

This room is named after Asha - the older of the two grannies. Asha is a deluxe room with en-suite bathroom. The room is equipped with AC to beat the summer heats and during winters one can cozy down with a cup of special Grannies tea.
A cozy homestay midst the divinity of the oldest living city. The Granny’s Inn is run by two feisty Grannies Aruna and Asha who love to look after their guests. Our homestay is a window to the Indian hospitality; we serve home cooked food with the granny’s touch to it. Granny’s Inn is being managed by Cinnamon Stays, No. 1 B&B of Gurgaon and among the top 25 in India. Our home is not a guest house but a home that is rooted to the holy city of Banaras.
We are about a 10 min walk from the Kashi Vishwanath temple. The ghats are close by too
  • Very lovely kept homestay. The Grannies where welcoming and the place is beautifully clean with wonderful aesthetics. Walking distance (10mins) to Ghats. The main eating area is in an open inner court yard so bit chilly during december with a slight breakfast that is not included in room bill. Unfortunately there was no coffee available during our stay either. There was a great laundry service and the bathroom was impeccable with great hot shower. With a better breakfast it would be perfection

    Nicole2014-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Granny's inn has everything you needed for staying in Varanasi: 1) superb location(10min-15min walk, depending on traffic, to Dasaswamedh Ghat which you can easily start your morning boat trip or enjoy evening ganga Aarti) ; 2) friendly and helpful people! The two grannies are so cute! Mayur, the hotel manager, provided lots of information about the city, arrange transportation and even help bring my friend to hospital (her feet was stepped by a cow) where English is rarely written. Kashi is amazing home cook, he speak not many English but he understands your needs quite well. 3) rooms: room is spacious, nicely designed with essentials.

    Jaclin2015-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute dream stay!! The Grannies Inn is just a ten minute walk down a main road to the main Ghat, though tucked away down a quiet alleyway away from the hectic noise. It's a beautiful walk through the local Old City's alleyways down to the river if you prefer, so much going on. The service was impeccable, we felt like family straight away, and I would highly recommend booking yourself in for dinner most (if not every) night you stay, only 200inr for an incredible home cooked feast shared with the family. To Grandma Asha, lovely Mayur (the local guide who works there full time, and will show you around on a 'pay as you wish' basis), expert chef Kashi and your gorgeous kids, thank you for making our stay so wonderful!

    Jessica2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Manish, the Grannies and the team provided an oasis of calm, hot showers and delicious food at the homestay in Varanasi. Mayur was impeccable in helping us to get the very best out of our itinerary during our stay.

  • Our experience over our 5 day stay was very different to the impression given by the host, (who does not actually live in Varanasi). The area is exceptionally noisy, with a 3am loudspeaker temple chant very close by every morning!! You definitely need ear plugs. We found the mattresses quite hard and uncomfortable, and the room had a massive mouldy, wet, water stain on wall and ceiling. The on site manager, Mayur, and the cook, Kashi, went out of their way to be very helpful and the Granny who was present was friendly. I feel that this establishment is lacking in generosity and quality compared to other AirBNB we have experienced in the same price range. It doesn't represent value for money.

  • Couldn't ask for more. Such a nice oasis in an otherwise busy city. Clean rooms and bathrooms, run by really nice people. Home made dinner is an absolute must, food was delicious. Highly recommend granny's inn.

  • For me, it is the best place to stay in Varanasi. The room was exactly the same as seen in the pictures. We were coordinated very well by Mayur to the guest house and it was very nice of Mr. Kashi, who is also the cook and the caretaker to bring us to the exact place even at 2:30 am in the morning. He was kind enough to make us hot tea even at 5:00 am considering that it was not the regular tea time. The moment you enter this home stay you feel you are at your own home. There was a room heater to keep us warm in the chilling winter season. We could get a nice hot shower even at 5:00 am. The room was well equipped with basic amenities. The rooms were very well maintained. I haven't seen any place cleaner than this. Not even a hotel. Mayur also helped us travel to the local places in Varanasi. He was a very informative guide and very helpful by nature. Later we met both the grannies who are really friendly and amiable. When you sit down at the dining table and enjoy a cup of tea with a good conversation , you feel the warmth around. They are very good people. I must say, the interiors are very impressive. Credit to the entire management. I would love to visit the place again.

  • The host took acre of all my requirements. The stay was very nice and everyone from the cook, the auto driver and our guide were very good, knowledgable, courteous and really great value for money. The location is great....nearby all major attractions but just so much off the road to keep the road noise at bay .

  • If you are staying in Varanasi for more than a night, then this is the place to stay. Varanasi is by no means geared towards Western tourists, and if comfort and location are your foremost concerns, then Reeta's place is the only place to stay in Varanasi. She has four very comfortable and well-equipped rooms RIGHT on the Ganges a short distance from the ghats, and is the place to return to after the hustle and bustle of a long day in hectic Varanasi. I was there for two weeks and will say that the clean and delicious homemade Indian food cooked by what in reality was my own personal chef was probably the most value added part of the whole experience. You don't want to get sick in Varanasi, believe me, and the cleanliness of Reeta's kitchen I am sure was the reason I had no issues. Reeta's place is truly a sanctuary in the madness of Varansi.

    Fred2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • It's a 10 on 10 stay. Fully recommended. Thanks

  • Reeta's place is amazing! A sanctuary on the Ganges with the most beautiful sunrises! It is a 10 minute ride from the Ghats and she and staff are always here to help with any of the guests needs. Highly recommended!

The location was ideal for our sightseeing along the ghats. Vikas is a talented drummer & at the height of the Festival of Colors, he provided a magical entertainment on the Guest House rooftop of classical Indian music & dance. We can't wait to come back.

Bhadra Kali guest house is a one-of-a-kind boutique guesthouse located on Ahilyabai Ghat, by Main Ghat in Varanasi, India. The guesthouse is a colourful, family-owned, music-oriented house with panoramic views of the city and of the River Ganga.
  • We spent our first two nights in India here at the Bhadra Kali and they ended up being our favorite in our whole trip! The staff is amazing and kind, and helped us to arrange lots of things to do. The location is absolutely perfect, I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Varanasi. The rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable and the food was so good. Thank you for having us, we hope to be back again one day!

    Kate2016-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely stay in Varanasi. Raavi arranged for me to be collected from the airport, which was a great help as it made finding my way so much easier. The views from my balcony and the rooftop were lovely. I received a very warm welcome and was helped with tips for sightseeing and having an early morning boat trip arranged. The room was clean and comfortable and the food was good. I'd happily stay again. A peaceful haven and well located for the major sights.

    Richard2016-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you're coming to Varanasi, this is located at the heart of it all. You're literally a stones throw away from the Ganga and you get some incredible views from the balcony) and the Aarti ceremonies that happen every night. The rooms are clean and neat with all the amenities you would need. I dealt with Monu who is an incredible host, he showed me true Indian hospitality, helped me with booking late train tickets, boat rides, and introduced me to his brother - a musician who played traditional music for me. I would definitely recommend this place, the location is simply unbeatable and the staff are amazing!

    Kiril2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing experience in Varanasi. The guest house is well operated, with rich india elements. The impressive part is full ganga view at balcony and roof top. My friend and I do enjoy the sunrise in the early morning. The host is also friendly as he gave us a lot of advises to walk through Varanasi. When you comes to Varanasi, this is a very good choice!!

  • Wonderfull place!! We stay 10 days and it was the perfect place to stay in Varanasi. The staff help us all the time, Rabi and specially Vika (MUCHAS GRACIAS VIKA!! we can talk in spanish with him) were wonderfull all the time. High recomended place, perfect location, perfect staff, perfect energy. Thank you so much Bradha Kali!!!

  • We loved staying at Raavi's place! We were very happy with the location, right next to the main ghat. We even found a vegetarian restaurant 5 mins away with great food. The hospitality at this place is wonderful. We stayed in two different rooms (we extended our trip) and both were lovely. Raavi also helped us when my boyfriend was sick with everything! It was so nice because it can be scary to be sick in a foreign place. I would definitely recommend this guest house to travelers looking for an authentic experience! Thank you again!

    Anne2016-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • The location is very good and the view from our balcony is amazing! The ganga right on our door step. Unfortunately our stay in the guest house wasn't everything we had hoped for. The way to the guest house requires a 10min walk by foot which was intense as you have to walk through the very busy streets with all your luggage. Although we were met by a staff member who helped us with our bags. So just be aware as it's not the guest house fault it's just the neighborhood no cars are allowed past a certain point. On our first night we had to stay on the bottom floor room as they had overbooked our room, it was loud and not a pleasant first night right next to reception. The worst thing about our stay was that we didn't have any hot showers, most nights it was lukewarm or even just a trickle of water so very unpleasant. Also the bathrooms don't have any windows and connected straight with the toilet so it was always very wet and dirty. There was also a communal shower next door where you would have to hear everyone else going to the bathroom. On our last night we were woken up by a staff member who told us we had to pay our extra costs immediately, by cash, which we had not been told in advance and we did not have enough cash just eftpos cards. This was disappointing as they did have an eftpos machine available and we did not appreciate being woken and hassled to go get cash out for them. It was not convenient for us. A staff member was rude to our friend who was a local tour guide we had met in advance of visiting varanasi. We do recommend the massage and the sunrise boat ride which the guest house kindly arranged.

  • They are really nice and helpful. If you are trying to book anything they help you organising it. We stayed here in April and had a room with a fan. It was totally fine and we had the view of the Ganges, which was beautiful. It's really good located and everything is in walking distance. I would recommend staying here :)

  • Kailash's rooms are really spot on, my girlfriend and I had been riding around the north of India for more than a month and we were really pleased to arrive at this guest house, the rooms are super clean, Kailash and his family very welcoming, we really enjoyed the lovely unobstructed view of the river and the fact that we could go down to the street and pick up delicious street food and hot tea and bring it back and enjoy it on the balcony (table and chairs provided) while watching the birds, cows, boats and people by the Ganges. P.S it's in a quiet (for Indian standards) but yet central location.

    Christopher2016-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Everthing is perfect! Especially, the host, Kailash and his family member, are the best! 100% highly recommended. They'll provide you with unforgettable experiences on your travel.

    Gyeil2016-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kailash's place is located right near the Assi Ghats and has a wonderful view of the Ganges, especially up top from the roof balcony. It is just outside of the chaos so it's peaceful and quite. It is a family-run guest house and they are very friendly and willing to help out where need be. I would highly recommend you request an bedroom with AC (which was not listed when I looked) because the heat is unbearable and a fan is not enough - trust me. I ended up paying extra to switch rooms in the end. The rooms are basic, a bed and a bathroom. If you're a traveller looking to not break the bank then I would recommend this spot for sure!

  • There are many places to choose from in Varanasi, and many reviews for many of them. Easy, right? The place has this, the place has that, etc. etc. But if you are staying for more than a day or two, it isn't just the place; it is the owner as well. With Kailash (and his family), I felt lucky, then blessed. 'We are all family here', Kailish says. And it is true. I hope that anybody who stays with this wonderful family is as fortunate as I was to listen to this gifted classical musician practicing on his tabla. Indeed, the whole family is musical. And if you are really lucky - as I was - Kailish will find the time to discuss Varanasi with you. He is as helpful and caring a person as one could hope for on any journey. Perhaps you, like me, will leave wondering, How can I ever reciprocate? By the way, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom spotless, the water always hot, and the location ideal.

    Allen2016-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Super nice people. Very helpful and always smiling. Great place to stay. Quiet but also crowded on Sunday as Assi ghat is one of the biggest. I enjoyed my stay and recommend to everyone!

  • We have absolutely loved our time in Varanasi staying at the Ganga Guest House with Kailash and his wonderful family. From the moment we arrived we felt right at home and they were all so welcoming. The guest house is at a great location in Assi Ghat with an amazing view of the Ganges, especially from the rooftop restaurant. The rooms are cosy, but very clean and well looked after and the bathrooms have the best showers we have had during our whole stay in India! And with a balcony view over the Ganges this guest house is amazing value for money. Also Kailash's wife Sushma is the most fantastic cook in the whole of India...she cooks everything fresh in their rooftop restaurant and every meal we had tasted delicious and was also excellent value for money, with the added reassurance that it was all cooked from scratch. Kailash has been a fantastic host, arranging a boat tour for us and answering our many questions on the Ganges, traditions and Hinduism and has made us feel very at home. Getting to know him and his family has been a real pleasure. We have really loved our stay here and highly recommend the Ganga Guest House for anyone visiting Varanasi and very much hope to return here one day - thank you so much Kailash!

    Emma2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • He have a great stay at Kailash's family. They took us for free to the Hindu temple for the ceremony and they hosted us in their relatives' home and offered us lots of things. They were very helpful and the last day that I felt really sick, they let us stay in the room until our afternoon departure.I highly recommend Kalash's home stay, because all the family are very friendly, honest and human.

A classic property with a charming character, 'Rose Heritage Home' leaves you admiring the beautiful old architecture of around 200 years old building. It was originally a Bengali house, now renovated as a boutique hotel. Experience luxury, comfort, service & cuisine, in a room created purely for pleasure & indulgence. Situated on main road, very close to banks of 'Ganga', city center & major restaurants.
A beautiful, ancient old building in the heart of the city. Very few meters away from Ghats (banks of River Ganges). Building's old uniqueness is kept intact however, our 'Maharaja' and 'Princess' theme based rooms will surprise you with interiors so unique you won't find anywhere else in Varanasi. A big, lush green park right in front of the hotel where you can go have a walk, relax or just enjoy its view from the balcony.

  • We were very happy to have found this listing; it was a real joy. Rachita was super nice and accommodating from the start to the finish. Our train to Varanasi was super delayed, and despite the late hour, she was kind enough to personally make sure we were settled in (something that she could have easily delegated to one of her staff). The room was comfortable and we were able to get some much needed rest. The bathroom is a piece of art! While the amenities are all modern, the house itself feels like something from another age. The concepts and attention to detail in each room are really telling of Rachita's passion in developing this property and it'll be interesting to see what she does with the rest of the rooms. Her staff are really amazing too. Friendly and knowledgeable, and they made our stay a pleasure by taking a personal interest in our comfort. There is beautiful park opposite the house if you feel like taking a stroll and the ghats and most of the major temples are quite close by. Will visit again. Thank you for the memories!

  • This was a good find, as I was considering the Taj Hotel but the high end hotels are a taxi ride away from the Ghats and that's where I wanted to be. I was in Assi Ghat within a 10 minutes walk. The bathroom is superb and worthy of any 5* hotel, it was a shock walking from a heritage style room into a modern, black tiled bathroom with superb shower and hot water. Even the soaps and towels were of good quality. My room was spacious a comfortable, good wifi. Just be aware that there may be passing street noise as the French windows open towards that direction. The two guys running the place we're faultless and so helpful. I ate all my meals there as they are tied with a local restaurant which also stands out for its cleanliness. They delivered to meals to my room. Rachita was very helpful and quick to respond to my emails. A taxi was arranged too and from the airport. It was exactly what I was looking for!

    Doug2017-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Rachita is a wonderful host and is open to all ideas to improve the guest vist Great staff ready to attend to all your needs Close to restaurants Go to SALT AND PEPPER just a few blocks to your left. The Ganges is only a 10 minute walk away. Breakfast is served off site at restaurant 2 blocks away. THIS WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE

    William2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Rachita's place is really a gem. A beautifully restored old house - And the room is really big with a soft bed and a really lovely bathroom. Had really good communication with Rachita and she helped me to buy a traintic. Staff was really helpful in general.

  • This was a beautiful and peaceful place for respite in between the stimulating outings in Varanasi. Everything was high standard, beautiful, and clean, very good value for the price. Breakfasts were simple but nice. The staff very friendly. Nothing to complain about, only sometimes the electric would go in a low mode which made it unable to use the A/C, though I believe this was due to the development projects or infrastructure of the city itself.

NAMASTEY, Its my Guest House is a 4floor building with two bedrooms at the ground floor and two double bedrooms at the 2nd floor. I hqave some room also with private bathroom and toilet. Two shared toilets and bathrooms. We also provide both a common area and terrace.
My place is located very near to the famous Ganga river where you can have a nice walk and enjoy the local life for all day long. however, my house is located in a very peaceful and quiet environment, without noisy horns or city noises. My house is located very close to many temples, the fort and the Vanarasi's University, one of the biggest Universty in Asia
My Neighborhood is very good. a few minutes walking, you will find the famous Assi Ghat where you can walk or relax in one of the very good restaurant or shopping place. Boat tours on the ganga river are also available for a cheap price. The neighborhood is very safe, the safest in Varanasi, even at night time.
  • Great location, lovely hosts, and amazing city/experience. Naveen sets you up with great guides and drivers at reasonable prices, and he and his family are very good people. We really enjoyed the rooftop at his place, the guesthouse restaurant rooftop beside his place, and the brown bread rooftop. You must take the sunrise boat tour, the guided tour of the temples, and you must try blue lassi. Great city to wander and meet people.

    Stephen2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The guest house is located next to the Assi Ghat. It is easily located when you get to the health clinic. So when you're here start exploring the ghats from here. The guest house is not luxurious but comfortable enough. But it gets hot at night. I slept with the fan at full speed and my door open to let some breeze in. The family that lives there are nice. Naveen's older brother Krishna takes care of the house and he makes amazing coffee. He provided me a bucket for me to wash my clothes. He also helped me leave early in the morning to take a dip in the Ganga and go to the Vishwanath temple. There was frequent power cut but I had electricity all day. There is also had uninterrupted wi fi but it is okay in the room. He also provided me a delicious breakfast.

  • Naveen is a noce guy running his guest house under the pretext of homestay. When we reached... his sister wasnt aware of our arrival despite my regular communication with naveen till the D day ! We had to ask for the bed spreads n towels n toilet papers... which obviously naveen provided us after... Which should ve been present before we ask... But Naveen helped us to take the eve boat ride .... Thanks Naveen. But for us your place doesnt go with homestay but a low cost hotel/guest house.

  • I cannot say enough great things about staying with Naveen and his family! Naveen is a wonderful host; unbelievably helpful, but still gives you your space. He helped to arrange boat rides, cars, looked into train schedules for day trips, provided excellent tips about where to eat and how to save money. Being a woman travelling on her own, he also walked with me to a few places to help me find my way around and seemed genuinely concerned about my safety and well-being. The whole family is hospitable and very kind, and goes out of their way to ensure you have what you need and your questions are answered. There are so many great things to see and do within walking distance, and anything else is just a short tuk tuk ride away. The neighbourhood is very safe, and I often went out alone in the evenings without worry. I am already planning my next trip to Varanasi with my boyfriend, and we would stay with Naveen again without a doubt!!!

  • The guest house is located in a strategic position, two steps from Assi ghat and it has a very cozy roof top for a long relaxing in Indian style. Naveen is a friendly host, with a lot of suggestion and a very nice approach. Let me say, if we would come back to Varanasi, we surely would visit again the Naveen's guest house.

  • Air B and B Review: Varanasi Rating: 5 stars ***** Mr K. was very attentive to my various interests and needs in Varanasi and has links such as if you want a separate boat ride / take a tour of Varanasi / travel to the airport. The location is very convenient and is close to the first main ‘ghat’ / waterside steps called Assi Ghat. Food is available at the house (breakfast / lunch / dinner) and there is a nice café / restaurant 2 minutes to the left of the house called ‘Village Café in the Town’ (or something along those lines) which has decent drinks and good cheap food including thalis which is a mix tray of various foods (I would recommend the basic thali which includes fried dal). Rooftop views also nice (photos of me in an orange kurta may be on the website). Mr. K. was kind enough to install AC last minute as I moved rooms to one which did not originally have AC. Good quality AC, fan and shower (which includes hot water) in the AC rooms. I walked the ghats on many occasions and the views in my opinion are almost as iconic as the Taj Mahal in Agra, which I also visited during my first trip to India. I got a cheap boat ride with a group for 100 rupees which was not as uncomfortable as it initially looks. It is the same Ganges afterall so I would recommend the group rides as long as it is not too crowded, which can be the case for some (photos of me in an orange kurta may be on the website). Cheap Indian style clothing (including kurtas/saris/scarfs) as well as mega stores / supermarkets / mega marts about 20 minutes away with Tuk-Tuk.

Kailash and his family helped with any request I had and I appreciateed the fact during the quite frequent black outs in Varanasi they always and immediately run the emergency power. The place is located just at the Ganga South of the Assi Ghat. It is an easy walk to shops and restaurants, along the ghats and to the university quarter. It s very central and therefore never really quiet: you always hear the sound of the city. Who is seeking silence will not enjoy this place, I am afraid - but I enjoyed stayng in this neat and clean environment in the centre of this vibrant and wonderful city!

  • The place is amazing. It's very cozy the deluxe room. Mr Kailash also a nice guy and smiling alot. Felt like home. Dont hesitate to book your stay in his place.

  • Kailash and his family were very nice and attentive, but unfortunately I didn't have a very positive experience in this stay. The description and the photos of the listing were not accurate, which was a disappointment when I arrived, especially considering the price. Kailash's guesthouse has two floors and a few rooms with air conditioning. Most of the photos in the listing belonged to rooms in the upper floor, with better views and much nicer bathrooms. My room didn't have a hot shower or a basin, and the small window had a view to a common basin outside. The bathroom had hot water in a tap, but the shower was cold. The gate at the guesthouse is closed at 10.30pm, after which guests have to call Kailash to be let in. This can work as a curfew to travellers without mobile phones and should also be mentioned in the listing. I brought this up to Kailash and he quickly tried to sort out the shower but it was impossible. He later apologise and agreed to refund me half of the booking due to these issues. He also agreed to adjust his listings so that only one room is shown in each one. Hopefully this will prevent future guests from further confusion.

  • Beautiful Ganges river view! Crean room!

    Shoichiro2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with Kailash and family two nights. Kailash had excellent communication pre booking etc. We had the deluxe room. It was very clean with unsuite. The guesthouse is over 50years old. A family home. It felt very safe. There is a curfew of 10.30pm but if you can communicate with family they will open up to you if you want to stay out later. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you Kailash.

  • Kailashji and his family went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. There was a serious power supply issue when we were there. They ensured we were comfortable by continuously running the generator whenever there was an outage. The view of the river from the balcony outside the room is amazing. All in all a great experience staying with a family in Varanasi

  • We have had two wonderful nights in Varanasi. Kailash and his family were helpful and they can provide any information you need in this spiritual city. From the balcony of your room, you will see a great Ganga view. You can definitely experience something local and something different here in Varanasi with them!

The two-window-room overlooks Ganga ji & the 16th century Alamgir Mosque. The house is located at Panchganga Ghat in the heart of the oldest region. We offer an authentic experience of what it means to live next to Ganga ji.

  • Staying at Somit's guesthouse was fantastic! The communication was easy, he arranged to have me picked up from the bus station (finding the place otherwise would be quite a challenge), and was made to feel a part of his family and community. I only had very short time in the city, so he arranged a guide to show me around the main places, without which I'd have been totally lost. I also concur with the other reviews that the food cooked in this place is just amazing. Other activities like Yoga/language classes are available (though I personally didn't try any of them due to lack of time)... In short I think it's a very helpful and supportive place to stay in this unique, though quite hectic city.

  • We arrived in Varasani pretty sick with a stomach bug we picked up in New Delhi :( but Somit and his staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The guesthouse was basic but clean and the young guys who do the tours and cooking were amazing with our kids. (Thank you! They still talk about you guys!) Somit and his crew can take your on tours - boat and car, do your laundry, get you all henna-ed and hook you up with yoga classes all by donation (which goes back to the free school they run as well as the guesthouse) Varasani was hard for us to navigate (especially ill) so we were happy to be guided around to the restaurants and shops we had scouted off tripadvisor.

  • Varanasi is an ancient city unlike most you will encounter. Somit's guest house is an oasis in the heart of the city. They offer services almost unknown on AirBNB-- pickup from airport or train station, delicious meals, arranging tours, guides and boats, and even participating, if you like, in the Classrooms that are supported by the guesthouse. The rooms are very basic, but the hospitality and heart is huge. From the house, you are a short walk to the Ganges and all it offers. Temples are all around. The house is located on an alley and is difficult to find, so rely on the assistance of the folks at the guesthouse to take care of you at first. For me, my six day stay was delightful even as the temp his 108 degrees! Please try the food they offer-- it is delicious!

    Matthew2016-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Stay here!! Our time in Varanasi was fantastic because we stayed with Somit. Anything you want - he can arrange it for you! And you will become so close with the staff. Amazing people, amazing place, you're sure to have an amazing time. :)

  • A little inside spot near to the Ganga river. Property is good for youngsters to experience real varanasi streets and Ganga ghats. You will have to walk a bit and cars dont reach out to the actual spot. Also, its a old home converted into a Payinh Guest so no lift and has steep stairs. Rooms are good and spacious for 2 people. Somit and his team member Monu does everything within their control to make it pleasant stay for us. They are always available and take care of every minor aspects. Their service and hospitality is top notch.

  • Somit place was amazing. It is located near the Ganga and it is very clean. Also the rooftop restaurant is very good, with a lot of choice! Very fresh and good food. Somit has been always available and ready to answer our questions. He also arranged a cab for us from the airport to his place! Totally recommended if you want to stay in Varanasi!

  • This place is great: clean, good location, quiete big. Most important: Somit & his team are really helpful and nice. I practiced very good yoga courses on the rooftop, had an interesting ayurvedic lesson and enjoyed the food there. I really recommand it and will be there again soon !

My place is close to Assi Ghat.
  • The place is quite far from the touristic area so it's far from everything you need basically. On the other hand, it's really a quiet place which fits those guys who are seeking for peace in Varanasi. Otherwise, if you are planning a short time trip here, maybe this wouldn't be a good choice. Anyway, Pratrik is a good host that although he's not at the place at my arrival, he was always on the phone to provide help.

  • Very quite place, on top of a yoga ashram.

    Antoine2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • It is a beautiful place, spacious, clean, with view of Ganga. Morning 7am there is yoga class. Only issue was that it was a little bit hard to find, but it is very much worth it and I hope one day I'll come back to stay for longer.

    Miro2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent place, likely one of the best in Varanasi. We stayed here for a few days and were very pleased with our choice of guesthouse. The place has great views of the Ganges and Varanasi, it's quite and secluded but also close to the city with major spots being within walking distance or a shirt boat ride away. There's a delicious vegetarian menu and everyone was very helpful whenever we needed anything. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Lime-villa has a beautiful Ganges view. Great for parties on the sand, bon-fire, barbecues, turkey feast at Christmas time, a beautiful garden of flowers, peaceful environment located away from the city, experience boating on the Ganges, and an authentic Varanasi experience. Safe place to come home to after a busy hectic day where everyone is family.
Rooms are clean and well furnished. Some of the rooms have attached bathrooms and cooking facilities. Lots of space to walk around in the compound of Lime-villa. Sit in the sun in a safe and private space.
Our neighbourhood is the river side.It is buautiful to walk in the sand on the bank of the river. Sunrise, Sunset, and Boating are wonderful here.
  • Lime Villa is one of the best places to stay in Varanasi, away from the hustle & bustle of the city. Reeta and her family are excellent hosts! She took the trouble of taking me for an early morning boat ride in the December chill and the bonfire in the evening was the high point of my trip. Overall, an excellent place with a home-like environment!

    Bakul2016-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you a looking for a delightful guest house with a private room with panoramic views of the majestic Ganges from the back yard, than your search is over. What first drew me to Reeta's guest house were the pictures of the backyard; the green grass, the covered swing with the Ganges in the distance - and it turns out, all of it is just as beautiful in person as they are in the pictures. Reeta herself is an incredibly kind and gracious host who went out of her way to help me out during my stay. The room was clean and tidy and her cooking made me realize how much I'd been missing Indian cuisine. The guest house itself is a fair distance from the main ghats, but if that is where you are headed it's just a cheap rickshaw ride away. If you are traveling to Varanasi, add Reeta's guest house as a place to stay and you will be glad that you did.

    Peter2016-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Reeta is a good host and it is nice to see her family sometimes at the Property. We had a good dance around a bonfire on new years eve - fun! I would recommend this location for small groups or romantic couples. Tuk tuk drivers dont know where it is, so be sure to take note of the landmarks in order to find your way back - or get an indian sim card for GPS. Also you should get clear with Reeta right from the beginning about extra charges - got an extra 600rupee bill at the end which was not mentioned at all prior. Its in a good location if you want to be on the river and away from the ghats, but varanasi was extremely foggy when I was there so I couldn't really see anything. Would be nicer in warm weather. Thanks!

    Kodi2017-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We wholeheartedly recommend Reeta's place. The family will make you feel super welcome. And you can't find a better place in Varanasi. The garden is lovely and a welcome respite from the dusty Varanasi. Birds, frogs, butterflies, owls and stoats are regular visitors and if you fancy it, you can swim in the Ganga opposite. Food is tasty and the thalis are enormous in size. Tea is delicious too. A great space for kids to run around in, we were all treated very kindly. Be prepared for the dust in Varanasi everywhere. We recommend covering face and nose when travelling.

  • Reeta made us feel welcome right from our arrival and throughout our stay. The neighborhood is typical of India and of Varanasi.

    dilip2015-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • The host belongs to a friendly family. My stay was above comfortable. I had a warm welcome, with chilled beer and a serene view of River Ganges from the balcony. My pet Mr Rambo too had a pleasant stay. He was served with his favourite chicken. Overall a great host and would definitely love to recommend.

  • Reeta was quick to respond to my inquiry and helpful arranging a car to collect us from the airport. This place is lovely, right on the river for privacy and close enough to the road for access. The food is excellent and the service gracious. It felt very homey.

  • The location of Bhadra Kali guest house was perfect. Jyoti and her cousin were very welcoming and helpful. The food that we ordered was homemade and delicious. The room was clean and modest, really solid value altogether.

  • The BhadraKali Guesthouse is a beautiful place close to the Main Ghat. You can have a intensive experiences in the Theater of the Ganges Ghats as well as a nice view (or meditation/ yoga) from the roof of the building. The room was clean with a big but little bit hard bed.anyway, the team of the Guesthouse gives their best to find well solutions for a lot of problems or questions (prizes, bargaining, sightseeing, music, ayur Veda). Enjoy your stay tightest with other backpackers from all over the world!

In walking distance you can reach markets, yoga centers, temples, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), and you can walk along ghats for hours right from the house.
  • I am an older lady in my 60's, and Kailash and his family made me feel quite at home. The location is only a minute or two from the Assi ghat and I enjoyed exploring the surrounding area from the guest house. There is also a Spanish restaurant on a top floor - I spent some time there relaxing with a book, coffee and the views. I would stay with Kailash and his family again.

    Susan2015-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Located very near the Assi Ghat in Varanasi, the Ganga Paying Guest House AKA The Music School or Camaron de la India is a family operated business. The facilities have unustructed views of the Ganga river, Varanasi ghats skyline and nearby temples. The rentals are located in the first and second floors. The third floor hosts the famous spanish restaurant Camaron de la India that operates seasonally in the winter. Guests will have access to the roof for views and photography. I was the lucky guest of the Kailash family that welcomed me as a member of their own. The Kailash  family is very friendly and accommodating, they will cook meals for you if you like Indian spicy food, their chai is excellent, meals available at family's own times, inquire for other arrangements. You can have your laundry done for a price you will negotiate with them. They know the locals so they can also arrange transportation and tours on your behalf if you are interested. Rooms are very clean, running water runs with a strong flow as you expect in Europe and USA, hot water is really hot. If you don't book the AC room, your room will have a mosquito net in the window that are conveniently private with frosted glass, all rooms have a working fan that works 24/7 as there is a backup electricity generator to have your room with electricity. Connections for AC appliances are not power up during blackouts, but outages do not last long. None AC rooms come in 2 types, with private bathroom or share bathroom to fit your budget.  Facilities also includes WIFI that depends on providers of services in India, common WIFI outages are to blame mainly on poor infrastructure in India. The Internet in India is not as good as in the USA or Europe, plan for this as eventually it will hit you. Kailash is a famous tabla player, that often travels to Europe and USA for concerts, he knows the needs of westerners as he had lived in Germany and other countries. He will accommodate you if it is possible, remember that you will be in India, not in your country of origin. If you are interested in learning how to play the tabla he will teach you for a fee. I highly recommend this family operated business, come and stay with the Kailash family and engage yourself in how Indians live their daily lives.

    Rodrigo2016-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Kailash was very helpful in telling me about Varanasi and finding things to do. It is a family fun guest house and very much feels that way. I had an amazing experience.

    Puja2017-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our train was running 15h late and Kailash made sure we could easily find nd and access the place at 2am! He was also very helpful to recommend places to see, eat, how to get to the airport etc. The room looked as in photos but we found it a bit noisy from the street below and the ghats early morning but this is Varanasi so it is to be expected if you stay next to Ganga.

  • This guest is very beautiful room is very clean and nice bedroom is very clean and nice and balcony is big you can see the river from balcony and you can see beautiful sunrise. And very best restaurant on rooftop. Al food made by owners sushme. Whit clean filter water. The family is very lovely kindly and friendly. I want to comeback here in this guesthouse. The family provide very good boat trip.

  • Ganga Paying Guest House was a great place to stay. I decided to upgrade to the room with AC and it was a very welcome upgrade indeed. My first night there, the family that owned the place took me to a wedding celebration in their local neighborhood, so I stuffed myself full of free, delicious Indian food. Everyone in the family is extremely kind and helpful, especially Monish the son.

    Phillip2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • I don't know how that guys think about this guest house. It's really far away from the gang Ganges river. You need to walk at 10 mins. Especially in India. With the very hot weather. And when I reached in the host talking to the host. First the lady said my room have a air condition. Finally when I am in nothing. The room looks dirty. With little pets. The host seems doesn't welcomed the people to stay in there house. You have some question ask them. They will help u. But always with the cold face. That's felling terrible. Finally I quiet to stay in there home. And booking another clean hotel instead. kidding ? Sim. Card 价格才 500 讨价还价之后 懒得跟他烦了 扔给了它800。远高出市场价。这里房间最便宜的也要80rmb。夏天根本没法住人。有这个价格青旅都能住两晚了。大家谨慎选择

  • We didn't end up staying here after we saw the room. Tiny hot room, no towels, no toilet paper. The bed was basically just a piece of wood. We did book the cheapest room though, the other options may have been better.

  • Kailash, his wife Sushma, and his family were very welcoming and very kind during my stay with them. The position of the guest house gives an amazing view of the Mother Ganges river, and it's very easy to walk along all of the Ghats from here. It's also very easy to get to the various markets and places of interest, and the family were very very helpful in making this traveller feel at home. The hospitality was superb, and [for me, as a musician] it was an absolute privilege to have some basic tuition from Kailash on the Tablas - I've always been fascinated by the instrument, and by Indian Music generally ... despite being a highly experienced Tabla player of international reputation, Kailash was very gentle and kind with my clumsy efforts in the basic lessons, making me feel very comfortable and encouraging me to take up the instrument and practice when I can. My brief stay here was a truly uplifting experience, and I am motivated to return again as soon as I can!

  • Lovely, welcoming family. Kailash's daughter is lovely and seems to do most of the running around. Unfortunately, that is the only good point. We booked a fan room. Arrived to a very hot, very small, very stuffy room with no ventilation. We expressed our concerns to Kailash who told us it would be double the amount we'd paid to upgrade to an aircon 'deluxe room'. We decided to upgrade because it was unbearable. For the whole 2 nights, 3 days we stayed there the aircon worked for around 10 hours in total. This was due to government powercuts, however they had a Generator that they decided not to use, stating that it was the government who cut the power! We found this really frustrating - we had paid extra for the air con yet they weren't willing to use their generator for us to use it! We also checked how much the deluxe room would have been on airbnb and it was a lot cheaper than he was stating. So we only paid the extra according to airbnb. We cancelled our last 2 nights as we couldn't bear the heat and the noise any longer. This place is VERY BASIC - even the deluxe rooms. Bathrooms need a deep clean. It is very loud as it's on a main road. We were woken at around 5am each morning. I would most definatley book a Hotel rather than a Guesthouse if you want a pleasant stay in Varanasi. We didn't enjoy our time here whatsoever which was disappointing as we'd read good reviews.

  • First let me say that Kailash and his family are amazing and wonderful individuals, and their attentiveness and hospitality is worth staying here. However I did give the place 3 stars due to linens and towels that needed washing, bugs, and a lizard that happened to find itself in my room (which Kailash of course, apologized for). Here's the thing: you pay for what you get. I was only spending two nights in Varanasi and I personally am not a fan of big, fancy hotels. As a matter of fact, when I travel I mostly stay in hostels or coach surf, so I am use to cold showers, limited wifi, electrical outages, etc. It's all part of the experience at the end of the day. I do however expect a certain level of cleanliness from those involved in the hospitality business, hence my rating. Overall, I would recommend maybe another one of Kailash's rooms, and I would certainly recommend his place for the budget traveller staying a night or two.

  • Great stay. Kailash and his family were welcoming as well as helpful. Varanasi is a fabulous place to see in India and staying with Kailash made us feel at home.

  • Perfect location, excellent hospitality. Room can be improved, restaurant was not open during our stay.

  • Great location away from the craziness of the main ghat but near assi ghat which is lovely. Kailash and his family treated us like their family, they were so welcoming.

  • The guest house is located in a beautiful place close to the principal ghats but a bit hidden so you can stay more in pace and relax. A good view in one of the most beautiful ghat: Assi ghat. Rooms are small but very very clean. Kailash and his family are very kind and helpful. In their guest house you feel like in your family

  • Very nice and clean guest house! I would recommend it to everyone. Good rooms and pleasant restroom facility for a budget price. Everything is very simple, but clean. Somit and staff are friendly and a lot helpful if you are first time in Varanasi (or may be even India in general). Also you can take donation based yoga/ayurveda/music lessons there. And see ancient Varanasi roofs from a rooftop:) Cons - hard to find (but I guess everything is hard to find on old and narrow streets of Varanasi). Should ask locals.

  • We loved our stay! We did a tour of the city (boat and walking) with one of their awesome guides, Vikki! Seeing the students in school is heartwarming and it makes this stay super special. The rooms are basic but fine. We also ate the food at the Bowl of Compassion cafe on the rooftop and enjoyed all of the food! It's a short walk to the mother Ganga and the ghats!

  • it was a short but very nice stay, the staff were friendly and always willing to help, the place has a good vibe plus it is very close to the main ghats, I recommend it.

This room is called Mira. It's is a deluxe room with en suite bath. The room has air conditioning, with a lovely hand painted mirror and a cosy double bed. The bathroom is modern. We also serve breakfast. Our homestay is called Granny's Inn.
A cozy homestay amidst the divinity of the oldest living city of Varanasi also called Kashi or Banaras. The Granny’s Inn is run by two feisty Grannies - Aruna and Asha who love to look after their guests. Our homestay is a window to warm Indian hospitality; we serve home cooked food with the granny touch to it. Granny’s Inn is being managed by Cinnamon Stays, the Tripadvisor No. 1 B&B of Gurgaon and among the top 25 B&B's in India ( winner of Traveller's choice 2014). Our home is not a guest house but a home that is rooted to the holy city of Banaras.
We are about a 10 min walk from the Kashi Vishwanath temple. The ghats are close by too
  • I had a lovely stay at this homestay. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. It is a very safe homestay, particularly for a woman travelling alone. They provided lots of information about Varanasi. The rooms are clean and spacious. Food provided at night was also very tasty. Transport to and from the airport was organised as well as transport to Sarnath. Overall I had a very pleasant experience and would recommend this homestay to any traveller. It really had a homey feeling which is great for any traveller.

  • The hospitality was great. The tour of the old city and boat trip on the Ganges is a must - very informative and great to see the city from the river. The rooms were very clean and the host was very welcoming and helpful.

  • Although I never actually met Manish, since it's his mother-in-law who lives in this home, he was very responsive to my questions, both via email and phone, and Asha is a delight (and speaks better English than I had expected :-). Her home is an oasis in the otherwise rather chaotic, noisy city of Varanasi, within walking distance of a major ghat, which Manish was kind enough to arrange his friend to guide me to experience Diwali, the Festival of Lights. He also arranged an excursion to Sarnath and my transportation to the airport. Asha, his mother-in-law, accompanied me to the IPC mall, included me in her Diwali celebration, and even gave me a box of my favorite candy as a parting gift. Her helper, Kashi, made a variety of delicious meals and helped carry my luggage upon arrival and departure. The home is exactly as pictured: cleaned on a daily basis, with a large, ensuite, flat-screen TV offering hundreds of channels, including English (the first time I was able to catch up on the news in a month :-); good wifi; access to common areas; etc. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Varanasi and highly recommend both these hosts and their home!

  • A warm welcome and a peaceful heaven from the hustle and bustle of the old city of Varanassi! A beautiful, clean , calm atmosphere prevails. You are made to feel part of the family, very welcome and relaxed. We ate the most delicious home cooked food with our very kind and considerate hosts every day. It was the best food we have tasted in India!! Every care is taken in the preparation of the food, using filtered water - so eating lovely salads and fruit is worry free for guests. The location is excellent as the Ganges is a ten minute walk from the house. We really enjoyed our stay!the experience was FANTASTIC 5 stars!! As the five stars below don't seem to be working!!!!

  • This is a great stay in Varanasi! And a good deal for your money. The location is very central and a quick walk to anywhere you want: shops, night ceremony, restaurants, etc. The caretakers were so helpful and made it easy to book tours, etc. I recommend to any travelers stopping by Varanasi. Thanks again for a great stay!

  • A peaceful oasis hidden in the craziness of Varanasi. Awesome location– probably a 10-minute walk from the main ghat basically down one major road. Mayur, the manager, was friendly, knowledgeable, had great English. He was hand-picked by Manish as the guy to take care of things at the Granny's homestay, and I can see why. Our driver was great too. Knowledgeable about the sights, refreshingly direct/honest (you know how it goes trying to get a random cabby in an Indian tourist town), good English, no hard sells, etc. I appreciated the cool art around the place too. I'd stay at any of Manish's places in the future.
