“If you feel like something stronger, try the Ananasso Bar down at the harbour, with his bright yellow umbrellas and chairs. Taste the Kaypiroska, a cool mix of vodka, fresh fruit (raspberry, strawberry, plums...) and cane sugar. Sciacchetrà is a local dessert wine made from dried out grapes (rasins). It can be found throughout the 5 Terre. There is also a very tasty grappa made from pomace left over from making the sciacchetrà.”

“The Doria castle stands on a rocky ridge, about seventy meters high, in the coastal area south of Vernazza, in the Cinque Terre. The Belforte cylindrical tower, which currently stands at the center of the esplanade, represents the oldest part of the fortification. During the Second World War the castle served as an anti-aircraft post for soldiers from Nazi Germany. Within its walls there was an ancient bronze cannon bearing the inscription "Comunitas Vernatieae", which was taken away by the British and is now visible at the British Museum in London. Currently the castle is not only open to visitors, but also a venue for exhibitions and exhibitions”

“It has the best seaview of Vernazza from the terrace and local food. It's a restaurant-bar open with the kitchen all they long. It may be close because of rain. Has just seats outside on the terrace.”

Place of Worship
“The parish church of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia was built in 1318 in Gothic-Ligurian style by the Antelami Masters on an existing building, of which only the apse remains with decorations with hanging arches and pilasters. It stands on a rock overlooking the sea protected by a row of rocks, on the side of the inlet towards Monterosso. The 40-meter high octagonal tower is crowned with small arches and ends with an ogival-shaped dome. Between 1500 and 1600 it was enlarged, extending the hall by two bells per nave and destroying the original medieval façade. Inside it has a basilical plan with three naves. According to legend, in ancient times a wooden box containing the bones of a finger from Santa Margherita was found along the coast of the town. The population then decided to build a church in honor of the Saint where today there is a neighborhood called the islet. Due to a strong storm, the relic disappeared and appeared some time later in the same spot where it was first found. The people then decided to build the church overlooking the sea where it is today.”
